Apologies for the delay. I should have put a new challenge up last Sunday... But here it is now, since I'm done being a busy-bee. This time, I present you with a theme and a poetry style. I'm interested in seeing if anyone can create a haiku involving scorpions. Scorpies are cool, haikus are cool, so it seemed cool. For those new to haiku, or in need of a refresher, please read:

Haiku (also called nature or seasonal haiku) is an unrhymed Japanese verse consisting of three
unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables (5, 7, 5) or 17 syllables in all. The 5/7/5 rule was made up for school children to understand and learn this type of poetry.

The above information is from Shadow Poetry. And, I encourage you to make the poem(s) look pretty with bbcodes.

You have your place in the sky
The scorpion lives

Get over here bitch!
Scorpion, the hell spawn, lives.

Scorpion, turtle,
Floating across the river
Betrayal foresaw.

A slender poison
with a dangerous grip paired
the sudden monster.

Yeah, I found this fun and quick to do, so here's mine. Texas Sage is a plant that grows in the desert and has purple flowers.

Under the Texas sage
Lies she with her stinger poised
Waiting for her prey

Stinger?! OH SHIT, RUN!
TOO LATE, IT ALREADY STUNG
I AM ALREADY DEAD

And that is my melodramatic reaction to getting stung by a scorpion.

My last hunt
Blind to your vicious venom
Stings even stars

I think I did this wrong. >_>

A few syllables short, Orion. But it's lovely and I appreciate your contribution, so screw the rules. >:3

Thank you all, actually. I'm learning what types of poetry people prefer.

Stinger ready now
Claws poised for the small cricket
I watch it attack

Stung, The Fox asked why
"Because it's in my nature"
Said the Scorpion

and

Scuttling across
the dirt road in the desert,
poisonous roadkill

Scorpion

A shiny black shell,
Claws of steel with grip to match,
Stinger like lightning.

Protect by all means
All is not what it may seem
To guard at all means

A glimpse of passion
A single moment of lust
Yet I'm not content

I kind of went with scorpion symbolism, if that's fine, rather than an actual scorpion.

I am not so big
But I am not small either
I can hurt you though

Poisonous death sting
Gelatinous blood flows
Death to come soon now

The Recipe of Ambition

1. Passion concentrate
2. One centimeter-thick shell
3. A scorpion's heart

Astrological
I am the Scorpio sign
Beware my mad sting

You lift your tail,
So ominous in beauty,
And strike down your prey.
