You can thank the Soviets for any pictures we have of Venus' surface. Problem is nothing you send there can survive long, between the pressure, caustic atmosphere that rains acid, and being the hottest place in the solar system after the sun. Sending anything to Venus is basically millions of dollars for something that might last a few hours, tops. I think the Soviet probes lasted about 20 minutes before they had system failure. O.o

The water ice on Pluto is red, not clear like it is here on Earth. And scientists are dumbfounded as to why.
