The world of Valen, said to be the most treasured planet in the known galaxy. For years numerous factions fought for control over the diamond planet, not because in our primeval sense of diamonds, but as a fuel. As humans ventured out into the universe, they discovered the energy behind a diamond, something earth lacked for nearly 2 billion years. Upon the South Africa Treaty in 2106 humans had finally gained that reactive element to create space traveling warp capable vehicles. And with greed still in their souls the planet of Valen was discovered along with several other alien races vying for control. No sooner than did this new race enter the competition that the conflict was brought to an end by the Gossimere monks at the edge of the Milky Way.
Their talent for technology was unlike any other, and a shield was put up around Valen. Forever has this section of monks been designated, The Stoics of Valen. But even as more diamond mines are found on other planets, Valen remains a prize untouched by our galaxy. Further intelligence even suggests hostile defensive structures had been set up on the planet.
Yet, all this is nothing, it pales in comparison to those our story begins with. The Stoics of Valen are the Grieves' next target on their hit list.
