PLOT CHALLENGE

Plot challenges are designed to help you think quick and be inspired. We often play this game in the cbox, shouting out random words or phrases and see what ideas first pop in to people's heads.

To Participate: THINK FAST. Don't waste any time. The first idea(s) that comes to mind, write it down and post it!

NOTE: If you decide to borrow someone's concept for a roleplay, make sure you give credit.

Challenge Phrase:
A State of Change

Here's my plotline idea: In a shocking event, Texas secedes from the United States, taking with it a cache of nuclear weapons and enough arms to flatten Canada! How will the new freshly inaugurated president deal with this political coup, and what about the president's daughter, who was kidnapped by the Texans? Will she survive?

Tokyo, Japan, a heavily over populated area, with many legends and myths. None of them to be actually true, or discovered really to be true. People hear them and they move on, movies are made of some, people watch them, they move on the next day. They are something that's really used for entertainment. So, why would people think them to be true? Why would people even have nightmares of them? Why would small children think the "thing" they saw in the movie is actually at their house? But truly, where did these myths and legends come from?
In a house about a mile out of Tokyo's city limits, sits a man in a wheelchair. He is the only person who lives out here. Many parent's tell their kids to not worry about him or look at the house.

~Three years ago~

It is a stormy pale looking day. A boy of about 8 is putting on some boots and sits next to him is an umbrella and a flashlight. "I'll show them. I'll show them all that there isn't anything scary about this stupid house." He says as he gets up and starts walking towards the road, and out the city limits of Tokyo.
The boy slowly starts coming to an old white house. He turns on his flashlight. "I'll show them..." He says again, as he eases up to the front door of the house. He knocks three times, as there is no reply. He then turns the doorknob, the door slowly eases open. The boy looks in with his flashlight. "Hello?" No answer. "See, I said there was nothing here to be---AHHH!!!!!!!!" The flashlight is dropped on the floor with the umbrella that was closed in his hands. The door opens up wider and the boy is shown to be gone.

~Two hours later~

The boy shows up back at his house. He opens his door and goes inside. His mother is in the kitchen making food. "Oh, hey, Jin. Food is almost ready, where were you?" The boy looks at his mother, and smiles. As he smiles the lights flicker off, and when they come back on his mother is dead on the floor. A smile still on the boy's face. He turns around and goes out the door again, with a face of an innocent boy, a true sense of a change in his state of mind.
He walks back in the direction of the old white house, a deep smile on his lips.

A head family of a country has a very odd feature for their people- one that is a blessing and a curse. These people are unable to remember anything that happened past a year back. In addition, they're all great fighters, but every year, their style changes entirely, as does their whole persona. Now only three of this family remain, and they have to adapt to the fact that if they can't survive, they'll die out.

States of change are everywhere,
And often it isn't a choice.
Flowers wilt,
Leaves fall,
And tides lick at the sand.

But sometimes things stay the same,
And they cannot be made to change.
Because people,
They have choices,
And their choices are their own.

Five Eyes
A game of international espionage for 5 spies

"Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say."
― Edward Snowden

Operation Ajax. Operation Olympic Games. Stellar Wind. PRISM surveillance. Whatever way you cut it, the Snowdon leaks were the most devastating blow the international intelligence community has ever received. A year later, and the hits just keep on coming.

With the CIA Paris station chief's embarrassingly public expulsion from France, it falls to Berlin station to keep a foothold for intelligence gathering in Europe. The revelation that GCHQ have been maintaining listening posts across Berlin, coupled with the "phantom agents" embezzlement scheme run by a case officer, means the station is in lockdown as investigators from Washington comb over every file, every email. The station chief will certainly be retired, and likely his deputy too. This power vaccum might allow an enterprising agent to climb the ladder, but everyone has secrets, and the day to day running of the station needs to continue.
Relationship building with a member of the Syrian government has hit a particularly delicate point, and the German Federal Intelligence Service is busy cleaning house itself; rumour has it the new Federal Minister of Special Affairs isn't as big of a fan of sharing with the NSA as his predecessor was.
Each day brings the possibility of new intel leaks, which could mean the difference between life and death for people who live in a world where no-one is who they seem to be.
What's it to be? Will you co-operate with the investigation, and make moves for promotion, or are you planning your exit strategy, aware that the next leak could uncover you as a double agent?

Alex looked into the mirror and frowned. How long was he going to be able to hide these changes? So far no one seemed to notice that he was growing a beard, a rather thick and full one at that. nor had anyone commented on how FAST the beard was growing. But now hair was starting to grow on his hands and back as well as his thighs and feet.

Maybe he could buy hair remover? No, that would cost a fortune. He'd have to come up with another explanation. Puberty, that might work. He was just full of testosterone. He smiled at the image in the mirror, "That might just work...at least for a while."

Washing his face and brushing the teeth that were starting to change as well, he sighed, "before long it's going to be evident that I am changing...hopefully Mom wont mind that her son is a werewolf."

After a mysterious, unknown pathogen descends from the stars on the back of a comet, something strange happens to a select set of humans in the small town of Argos, Colorado.

They began to pupate.

It didn't matter their age, their social standing, their health, or their habits - many of them die in the process, but a set number of them - a chosen few - make it through the other side, and when they are reborn, they seem... normal. However, all of them - old men, young men, pregnant women, toddlers - report dreaming inside the cocoon, remembering a place somewhere out in the stars, as something desperately tried to make contact.

The humans affected - the Touched - are only beginning their transformation, and the connection between themselves and whatever lurks in the dark between stars continues to plague them...
