Playing God

Here's an idea, what if we had outside forces controlling the story.

For example, lets say you have two people playing ball in the park but you want them to go somewhere else. A player could write "Suddenly, it starts to rain" or "Dark storm clouds approach."

I call this "playing God" because of the powerful and omniscient control you have over what happens in the world and how this control conveniently changes people's fates.

So what does the community think about this mechanic? How could this work in an RP?

Well, it's open to abuse and I'd recommend something like that only being used in a light-hearted RP that's meant to have a more upbeat and/or comedic tone to it.

I understand very well that this is easy to abuse but I was hoping the people here would understand that as well and would act like adults.

It depends on what exactly you want to go for with this. Most likely, you'll end up having to create a set of rules or something for the RP to work out. It sounds like a neat idea to try out, but you may want to consider how you want this to be executed.
