Path of a Gym Leader OOC

I suppose it ties in with how the region determines who is Gym Leader worthy? If you need to sign-up/apply for the position then you could always have that sign-up be at the region's professor or some office-like government building? Just tossing out some ideas.

Yes something to tie in Rylund and the laboratory. I was thinking of having him send our characters messages to help guide each of them toward their goals to acquire the experience needed to qualify for the battle forest and become an official leader.

edit - For now I'm off to bed. Thank you for brainstorming with me! Have a nice night (Or day) (:

That's quite a nice idea! Refreshing to keep the professor involved. Usually it's a one time character to kick-start the story.

How is everyone today 😊

@Luelle Out of curiosity, what's the scale of the picture of Leoluna? The background cliffs and stuff seem to make it look like a couple miles in diameter, but, uh, that would be a pretty small region indeed, so I'm assuming it's not that?

Totally not planning out ways to beat the others right now, also would TMs be out of a question?, move tutors?

The region itself is quite petite since it's newer, but there will be plenty of things to do in all the cities and isles, and there is more terrain on the mainland that we could add places at if necessary.

In my experience, I've witnessed a handful of roleplays that can barely make it out of the first town after months of posting different incidences. I believe five cities will be more than enough for now (: @Shiki

I don't really see why not :) @Mad Captain Kazu Maybe not immediately.

I've been focusing on doing some research on which Psychic Pokémon tend to be present in what environment. As well as working out some potential encounters that feel at least somewhat natural. Y'know, the usual prepping~

@Luelle Yeah, I don't think it has to be massive, I just wanted to know if it was quite as small as the picture seems to imply; like, I assume it's around half as big as a canon region, or maybe a bit smaller (in diameter, not land area)?

(I'm a bit of a worldbuilding nerd)

It could be a 7.8/10 situation where most of the area is water...which is, ok I guess. Hard to find some types when stuff is mostly water though.

I do want to ask if it's possible for my character to get a Dhelmise at some point, even though it's not an actual steel type it's ability "Steelworker" gives it 50% boost in steel type moves (aka a STAB), and its signature move Anchor Shot is steel type as well.

Or are we going full smogon monotype rules.

I've been going between playing on my Switch and looking up more about Flying pokemon. But its 1AM over here so I'm gonna go crash on my bed. Hope eveyrone has a good night/day/evening/whatever time you're at!

@Shiki In an earlier post in the thread the gathering of trees on the center 'island' was considered a forest. Now, a forest must by definition cover at least 1.24 acres of land. Based on this you might be able to get a better idea of the scale? (Though I do not know if that scale would translate well across the rest of the image.)

Ohhh it's a lot bigger up close, like the distances between things. Yes, I would say it's a third of the size of a canon region. If we add places to the mainland (especially the area cut out of the picture), then it could increase the of scale of the region. @Shiki

I can help with ideas about where to find the different types with all the water going on. @Cresion Breezes As far as Dhelmise, I think it's fine for the characters to catch other types but I'm not sure it would make the most sense to use them on their gym team. However, I'm not totally against considering the idea.

The thing is though, whoever chose a certain type might want to secure a Pokemon of that type since the ones they like of that type they reserved may be limited. If the person who chose ghost is ok with it, then I say go for it.

How would this apply to dual type Pokémon that are generally popular picks? Eq. Lucario, Gardevoir, Eeveelutions. Since these could be preferred picks for two different players.

Well, some type specialists in the actual games have Pokemon that are not of their special type in official battles, the biggest one is probably Sinnoh's fire type elite 4 member in D/P who has...a Driftblim, Lopunny and Steelix...

I mentioned Dhelmise because it's pretty much made to be a "triple type" Pokemon and I think it would be interesting for a gym leader to use something like that. If no one else takes it then I'll grab it.

@Hecatty Eeveelutions are all single type though.

@Cresion Breezes Yes, but they all start as Eevee. Which should fall under a Normal Gym Leader's 'jurisdiction'. It's just an example.

I think we should count all Pokemon's typings by their final evolution, not sure about megas though because a lot of mega evolutions change type.

Maybe if two people want the same Pokemon the one who uses its primary type gets first dibs?

Good questions! The Pokémon's primary typing would be the priority for the player who reserved that particular type, but I encourage you guys to get with one another and ask if it's alright to have certain ones if the type you chose is its secondary.

For eeveelutions, eevees will be the exception for everyone especially if you intend to evolve it into your character's type specialty. @Hecatty

In that case, do you suggest we keep those, what to call it, negotiations in the OOC here. Or should we use PM to work that out? @Luelle

Maybe we can make lists with Pokemon we would potentially want and see if there's conflicts?
