Personality:
Eleanor is an enigmatic character. She generally keeps a very calm and peaceful air about her. Elegant and composed, even at times when she probably shouldn't be which leads some to feel uneasy around her. As a vampire she prefers to lurk in shadows, observing her peers and students while she sips a cup of tea; often times surprising them when they notice her presence. She has always felt like an outsider compared to her peers, but feels no shame in her vampire heritage. She will openly discuss her blood-lust with a relaxed smile on her face if not to just get a rise out of the teachers.
While she is rather relaxed and carries a mysterious air about her, when she begins to discuss her passions such as music or her love of fashion and food she will seem more like a chatty little girl rather than her usual quiet and elegant self. Only those who are close to her usually see this more childish side of her. She is a playful person, finding entertainment in messing with her co-workers and pushing their buttons. Because of her flat demeanor, people have a hard time discerning whether she is being serious or not. While she is easily amused, she is just as easily bored.
Because of her past, Eleanor really does prefer to keep herself at an arms length from people. Although she will converse and make small talk, she rarely if ever partakes in any deep conversation. She is inclined to dislike people before like them and has to warm up to newcomers. However she doesn't openly show her distaste for others and will only ever be passive aggressive if it comes to anything. Some see her as stuck-up because of the way she separates herself, but she thinks little of how others see her and only ever offers her haters a curt smile.
Eleanor often has trouble discerning when something is socially inappropriate. Being kept in captivity for a good portion of her life; she has become a bit stunted in this aspect. She tends to invade personal space and says things that are out of place. While usually meaning well, this is another reason people tend to be put off by her.
History:
Eleanor struggles to remember her life before she was taken. She was born a Hildegard, a family of vampires that had magic infused for many generations. They were important, a staple in the world of vampires, but a troubled family as well. Despite all this, Eleanor never remembered being unhappy. She was too young to understand or comprehend the rising tensions between her people and the Ministry of magic. She couldn't understand the political rise of vampires against aurors and she didn't know about the bloodshed. She was a child; protected in her little bubble away from all that was happening outside her doors. Because of this she was confused and horrified when it was her own parents who were killed by aurors in front of her. While the memory is blurry in her mind, she remembers their voices. She remembers her own screams, confused and scared drowning out the rest.
She was spared, but for a long time after she wished she wasn't. She was only a child and she often wondered if perhaps they were above killing a child; even if she was a monster in their eyes. She was taken away from her family and was kept chained up. She never figured out how she ended up in her situation, if she was sold through corrupt channels within the Ministry or some other black market method, but she ended up on display. An attraction for people to gawk at. She was only one of many "rare" species held at the circus. They starved her so she would be ravenous for shows. She was kept chained like an animal as part of her performance. As she got older and prettier she was made to sing while audiences threw things at her. Her performance changed many times but she was just that, a show for the masses.
She was circulated through different rings for years until she finally was able to escape. A fire had caught and in the hysteria she ran for her life. She wandered for some time, unsure where to go or really who she was. She had memories but they were vague and she wanted to keep moving, in fear that someone from the circus would recognize her and take her back. She was on the streets for a month or so before she remembered a building. "Durmstrang". A school, she didn't know how but she remembered the name somehow.
People were unnerved by the tattered and disheveled girl wandering the halls, but when she was taken to the headmaster and gave her name he remembered the family name. After all, Virgilius Hildegard had attended there and even after all this time he remembered the student.
A few calls were made and the girl was returned to her family. Eleanor was a teen by the time she was reunited with her relatives, yet she didn't recognize many of them. She was shaken up and it took time for her to assimilate into her new life after what she had known for so long. She was easily frightened and flinched at the touch of another person. She was very small and frail as well, clearly not being fed well.
It took time for her to heal, but when she was well enough she was enrolled at Durmstrang. Despite being in her later teens, she was well behind her other classmates and had to take extra classes to catch up. Ultimately she was able to persevere, graduate, and develop into a healthier mental state. As she grew into an adult, she struggled with keeping her urges for blood under control, something she never had to do before when she was encouraged to lash out for "theatrical purposes". She struggled to find employment but with the help of her cousin who referred her she was able to secure a job as an instructor at Hogwarts. She is thankful for the position she is in, although she struggles to find her footing with her coworkers, she enjoys her students and working with music. She is happy and content.
Fun Facts:
>Eleanor has many interests and is talented in many fields. Where she lacks in social skills she excels in music and other arts. She is known for having a hauntingly beautiful voice and she enjoys singing more than anything. Her love for music is what kept her sane when she was at her worst and she is proud of her musical gift.
>Due to Eleanor being in captivity during crucial years of her development, she never learned how to suppress and control her urges; leading to developmental issues that cause her to lash out when she becomes very hungry or smells blood. She has been working on it for some time but still struggles with it. Because of this she uses supplements and other food items to satiate her hunger, such as blood lollies and red tea. Eleanor more often than not will be found sipping on a hot cup of tea.
