For anyone who doesn't know of the popular video game. "Overwatch."

It is essentially set in the near future, where a corporation created a type of AI in robots to better enhance manufacturing of items.

But, they were closed down due to fraud, and the models were re-awakened after being infected by "God Programs." Which they than began to build militarized Omnics to battle humanity.

And while some countries developed weapons and armor to combat the robots. They couldn't successfully hold them off. So the UN created a taskforce comprised of scientists, adventurers, oddities. Dubbing it, "Overwatch."

Soon after their deployment, Overwatch soon ended the "Omnic Crisis." But only after the remaining Omnics signed a peace treaty to end the war. Overwatch soon became a peace keeping force, dealing with criminals and what not. But after several accusations of corruptions, and negligence. Which the UN soon investigated, soon disbanding the task force.

But not after a firefight broke out between loyal Overwatch Agents led by Jack Morrison and a rebellion led by Gabriel Reyes.

Supposedly killing both.

This event left former Overwatch Agents to wander the world.......Until certain events occurred....

Current Events:
-Shambali Monk assassinated during a public demonstration.
-Unknown masked individual frees several dangerous criminals from maximum security prison.
-Break in occurred at the former Shimada residence.
-Former Overwatch agents have been spotted battling unknown assailants at museum.
-Local gang are attacked by individual.

Background: Not much is known about Echo's past, except that he shares German-Japanese heritage and was trained by someone very skilled. Though the person's identity is unknown. But, the rest of Echo's life can be summarized by a few words. Sightings. Break Ins. Assault on criminals. Spying and Stealing....
Personality: Silent, noble, cold and calculating. Echo tends to only put the mission first should the results be for the greater good. Only sacrificing the mission if innocents are caught in the crossfire. He also prefers to be a Lone Wolf, but doesn't mind being apart of a team...
Powers: Due to genetic enhancement, Echo has gained the ability to control/emit electricity. And is immune to being electrocuted, but if he absorbs too much excess electricity, he has to then release it, in order to not suffer intense pain and other injuries.
Abilities: Echo shows exceptional skill in marksmanship, swordsmanship, stealth and as some people call it, "Parkour."
Equipment: Carbon Fiber Katana, Handguns with integrated suppressors, a grappling hook device, and a unique device that allows him to go invisible, but doesn't work well when against a bright background. He does possess a utility belt of sorts, which contains smoke bombs, flash bombs and special bombs that contain either hallucinogenic gas or anesthetic gas that can knock someone out.

Background: Garret was an average person, grew up in a rough neighborhood, joined the military, served for a few years. Unfortunately, he was at the epicenter of an explosion that left him on the brink of death. That is until an unknown corporation took him and hooked what was left of him into a prototype suit made from an unknown metal. Along with some cybernetics to enhance him further, and keep him alive, also wiping most of his memory. And the corporation tried to push him as a new type of peacekeeper. But, the UN found out that the corporation had done this to him without consent from his family. So, shortly after shutting down the corporation, they sent Garret, or Subject X to cold storage. But mid transport, several armed individual hijacked the transport, while accidently freeing him. After combating the thieves, he was forced to retreat as he lacked proper armaments. But, he found his new condition a bit, 'disagreeable.'

And after breaking into several important medical facilities to try and find out if this was reversible, such as a certain medical Overwatch agent's lab, only to find it was permanent. Which caused him to become a bit depressed and anti social. Soon taking to wearing large coats and hoodies to hide his appearance from the world.
Personality: Cold, anti social and mostly angry. Subject X despises his current condition. But, under the anger and depression, he can't but feel glad he is alive. And that he was placed into the suit and not some psychopath who'd use it to do all sorts of things.
Powers: None.
Abilities: Cybernetics allow him to run faster, hit harder and for longer. And allowing him turn invisible, hack, be more accurate. A lot of things. Shielding allows him to absorb a large amount of damage. But, EMPS and large amounts of electricity can cause severe damage to him. And the cybernetics aren't perfect, as in they cause him to have seizures and flashbacks of his past life.
Equipment: State of the art cybernetics, standard assault rifle and pistol.

Background: Not much is known about this individual. Except, several eyewitnesses claim they have seen a main with white hair and suit attending events, whereupon someone died. Typically, the victim always seems to be involved in some sort of criminal organization.

But older reports have said that a comatose man with the same description, minus the white hair, was admitted to a hospital after being found in a cryogenic stasis. Where he stayed for several months. A few physical changes were noticed. Such as his hair turning a ghostly white color, and his pupils turning a bright yellow color.

But, after several months of nothingness, the man suddenly woke up from his coma, and escaped the hospital at which he was held.
Personality: Cold, Calculating. Always serious. Operative has little patience for things that can prove a risk to the mission. Or people who don't take certain things seriously. But, he has moments where his serious attitude falters and he shows emotion. Be it a slow, cautious one.
Powers: None
Abilities: Through genetic enhancement, Operative possesses a high IQ, strength, speed and stamina. And through rigorous training, he has become a skilled marksman and martial artist. Preferring Jujutsu. His enhanced reflexes also allow him to react quicker and move quicker.
Equipment: Two heavily customized handguns that have integrated suppressors, armor piercing rounds. [Only for medium body armor, anything above that will stop the bullets.]

Background: From a young age, Karl was very interested in music, engineering, bomb defusal, chemistry, electronics and puzzles soon after an accident that left him a mute. Even though bomb defusal was frowned upon by his peers and relatives. Soon after entering high school, his skills as an Engineer and Chemist were further enhanced to the point he managed to get into a college, but unfortunately had to drop out due to complications. Later pursuing a career in being a underground DJ. But, during a tune up on his radio, he managed to pick up an unknown signal sending out a very important message. As well as a few more transmissions. That is until the person on the other side of the radio realized that there was someone listening in, and Karl being the paranoid person that he was, turned off the radio before the person could explain, and fled Germany. Believing he was now on the run for listening in on classified transmission.
Personality: Cautious, quiet and shy. Not the type of shy, where one becomes flustered at anything public. Instead, Karl is the type of shy, where he doesn't like crowds or conversations with famous figures. [Even worse since he has to either: Write. Sign. Or charades just to communicate.]
Powers: None
Abilities: Expert chemist and technician. Shows extreme skill in engineering and bomb defusal. As well as crafting. Though, he does need a large supply of parts to build something useful.
Equipment: A shock baton, a shotgun that fires beanbags. EMP grenades and special device that can track and neutralize airborne weapons. [EX: Arrows, Grenades.] Although, it can only be used three times. Then it has to be manually reloaded and recalibrated. And a tranquillizer pistol. Beyond that, he has a few filters for his gas mask, and a headset with a music player.

Background: Leon was around during the omnic incident and signed up to fight them only to be met with a near death experience where he was ripped limb from limb and only survived because Reyes saved his hide before he bled out. Once off the battlefield, he was outfitted with some high tech prosthetics that gave him a new lease on life and awakened his personal power that he dubbed mimic. He followed Reyes until he joined overwatch and helped out when he could. Then the civil war started within overwatch that shut the initiative down and, as far as Leon knew, took Reyes to the grave. After Reyes was pronounced dead, Leon got to modifying his new body extensively.
Personality: Leon is a survivor and a fighter. he doesn't know the word quit, which makes him apart stubborn our highly determined.
Powers: copy technique/power.
Abilities: master martial artist, marksman, and swordsman.
Equipment: kinetic dampeners, plasma casters, two high powered semiautomatic, box magazine fed shotguns, a pair of nanite swords, an omni-directional energy shield and whatever is built into his armor.

Background:
Rolf was born within the United States, both his parents mechanics. As such, his hobbies and natural talent fell into the art of working on machines for a living, especially early on before the Omnic Crisis, where he would find himself working on more than he ever imagined. Of course, throughout all of this, he had always been inspired by the mechs and walkers of shows and games, and had been building his own. Named fondly after the M4 Sherman of old, SHERMAN was built as an adaptable, rock solid recovery vehicle for areas just too plain dangerous for people and too treacherous for tracked or wheeled vehicles. He had nearly finished the first prototype when the Omnic Crisis hit, forcing a change.

Rolf armed his SHERMAN to the teeth, relatively speaking, and marched off to war with the Omnics. Fighting alongside anyone, from any walk of life, he would find himself working alongside the Overwatch initiative more often than not, although he never formally joined them. He didn't need no damn oversight on where he marched, even if they ended up fighting alongside each other more often than not. Sure enough, once the Crisis was over and Overwatch turned on itself, Rolf fell off the radar for a time. He would crop up in disaster zones and places of civil strife, riding SHERMAN into the fray, often times halting aggression or the local crisis by the presence of the intimidating mech alone. After all, Rolf and SHERMAN have seen it all, far as they are concerned, so nothing should surprise them now, eh?

Personality:
Rolf is a rough and tumble man, course in language and harsh on everyone. It isn't personal, just takes some tough love to bring out the best in people. He loves to joke about things, especially at others expenses, and make recommendations, good or ill, as far as he sees working well. He does mean well, and will gladly charge SHERMAN into the thickest fighting to bail some young kid's arse out of the fire, only to berate him on the way back to safety how and why he was stupid.

Powers: NOTE: Powers only are applicable inside SHERMAN

Passive: Slow and Purposeful - SHERMAN is not going to be setting any land speed records, ever. SHERMAN moves slower than most of his allies and lacks the ability to jump, under normal circumstances, due to the sheer weight and mass of the armor and equipment the mech carries, making it a slow moving heap. However, the machine is over engineered, with numerous redundant and other safety systems built in place over sturdy armor, making it hard to stop once she gets moving. Just getting SHERMAN moving, though, is often the trick.

Hull Down/Variable Systems - SHERMAN hunkers down and shunts power to weapons and its self repair system, while providing a more stable platform for weapons fire. However, no passenger can embark or disembark during this state, and the SHERMAN is immobilized until released from its hull down position. When carrying an ally or another rider of any sort, the Hull Down ability shifts and is replaced with an ability that is inspired by the passanger, although it does not always seem to directly match any of those used by said rider.

Emergency Repairs - SHERMAN is not terribly complicated under the hood, and Rolf knows his rig inside and out. Easier from Hull Down, Rolf hunkers down with SHERMAN for a few seconds, slamming loose plates back in place, jury rigging damaged or outright destroyed subsystems, and sometimes dumping questionable fluids into the engine, bringing the SHERMAN back into a better fighting state than she was prior to enacting Emergency Repairs. When Hull Down, the power lasts longer and gives Rolf a more stable platform to work on, letting him fix up more severe levels of damage.

Ultimate: Into the Breach! - Screaming his defiance into the fray, Rolf engages the V-DAY systems, unfinished jump jets that sends SHERMAN hurtling, rather noisily, into the sky, all weapon safeties disabled as it rains a blistering barrage of chaingun and canon fire, the later altering with the rider, before crashing down into the enemy positions with a massive build up of momentum, often scattering enemies. Upon landing, the legs require several seconds to actually fully recover from the landing and, usually, at least one weapon system has overheated or jammed, and would require proper attention to resolve. Passengers add an effect to Into the Breach!, although rarely altering the overall course of effects.

Abilities:
Rolf is a grandmaster engineer and inventor, his brainchild and claim to fame being the SHERMAN Bipedal Recovery Platform, although its original purpose was long since abandoned by necessity. Besides his prowess with machines, Rolf is a half decent shot with his sidearm, which is as loud and unwieldy looking as SHERMAN, and brews a rather mean drink. Buyer beware.

The original Prototype that Rolf built in the years leading up to the Omni Crisis, the man believed in funcionality and purpose over form and external control by sentient warmachines. So, the machine is completely unassisted by any sort of AI or other intelligences outside that of the main pilot. SHERMAN is a slow, heavy affair that lacks the ability to actually jump, the sheer mass of the armor and weapons preventing it from attaining height in most cases, or even if it does, not enough to actually get anywhere. Their is an experimental jump jet system, inspired upon seeing Pharah in action, but take time to charge and cool down, and comes with its own host of problems.

MAIN WEAPONS: NOTE: During normal situations, only one weapon system can be fired at a time due to heat management issues.

Rotary Assault Chaingun - The RAC, or informally nicknamed the SHERMAN's chaingun, is a high rate of fire weapon firing caseless rounds down range, while each round does less damage than average, and the rattling rate of fire throws accuracy off, the sheer number of rounds makes up for this. While its ammo capacity is linked to the SHERMAN and does not require reloading, heat management requires the weapon to stop firing for short bursts, to allow heat to fade.

SHERMAN Cannon - A slow firing weapon that fires high velocity rounds at long ranges, the weapon is mainly meant for picking off other 'big' targets like himself. However, with the Variable Systems in effect, the SHERMAN Cannon adapts to the rider, taking on a form that uses the primary weapon or tool that the rider has, as a way of altering or outright completely overhauling the Cannon. Shifting takes several seconds, during which, all weapon systems are disabled to prevent unfortunate accidents, again. Its auto loader is shoddy and seen far better days, and tends to jam after several rounds, forcing a rather jarring shake or strike to get it loading again.

Update Post.

At a friend's suggestion, I did cut down some of the main characters to ones that the plot of the RP would need. But if anyone wants to still take on the role of a main character not on the list, don't be afraid to make a CS for them.

  • Blood/Skin/Marrow/Flesh - any of these to be a donor, or to effectively regenerate, but at a slower pace than say, Wolverine. Wounds take minutes to heal, too slow to be truly effective in combat but enough to where being left to die is really a non-issue.

Thorne Catsuit: A prototype armor crafted and tailored for Rayleen by funding from her rich parents. Along the spine is a special generator, which is powered by kinetic energy as well as the ability to manual plug it in in times of peace. It currently bears enough power for either 96 hours of just disguise alone or 48 hours of hard fighting. The disguise feature is a Hologram cloak on the right wrist. She simply picks and chooses and her appearance changes. She can access this manually or leave it in chameleon mode, meaning it'll pick the best disguise needed and cloak accordingly. On the left wrist is 30 feet of retracted cable. Point and shoot, it'll support her weight and about three people tops. She can also run an electric shock through it, as well as the gloves that come with it. Overall, its basic design is meant for infiltration as well as covert ops. Future designs and upgrades may create variants for more heavy-combat areas.

Background:

Lena Oxton (call sign: Tracer) was the youngest person inducted into Overwatch's experimental flight program and was already renowned for her skills as a pilot. She was selected to test a prototype teleporting fighter called the Slipstream. During its maiden flight, the teleporter malfunctioned; the Slipstream - and Oxton - vanished.

Oxton reappeared several months later, but her molecules had come "un-synched" from the normal flow of time - leaving her as a living ghost. Eventually, an Overwatch scientist named Winston developed a chronal accelerator capable of keeping Oxton anchored in the present. The chronal accelerator also allowed her to manipulate her own time, accelerating or slowing it down at will.

After Overwatch's dissolution, Oxton continued to fight evil as a vigilante...until Winston sent out the Recall order. Tracer was the first to reenlist into the reborn Overwatch.

Personality:

Oxton was nothing if not irrepressible. She was cheerful, energetic, and friendly, seemingly unable to comprehend why some people did awful things to others. Of all the Overwatch agents in their heyday, she had the simplest reason to fight: Because it was the right thing to do.

Powers:

-Chronal Accelerator: With the chest-mounted chronal accelerator, Oxton can fast-forward time for herself, effectively teleporting (colloquially known as "blinking") within line of sight. She can also reverse time so that events rewind back a few seconds, but only for herself. This can remove injuries and restore spent ammunition.

Abilities:

-Acrobatics: Oxton's fighting style incorporated gymnastics and freerunning to greatly increase her mobility. Combined with her short-range teleportation, there was virtually no location she could not reach.

-Marksmanship: Oxton was a gifted marksman and one of the few people capable of firing two pistols with accuracy.

-Piloting: Oxton was a gifted pilot and skilled enough to be handpicked to test Overwatch's prototype aircraft.

Equipment:

-Chronal Accelerator: This device was the source of Oxton's powers. Without it, she cannot maintain her presence in the present and becomes "unstuck" in time once again.

-Pulse Pistols: Oxton wields a pair of matching battery-powered pulse pistols. The batteries have a long life expectancy, but require a cooldown time between bursts.

-Pulse Bomb: Oxton carried a limited supply of adhesive explosives capable of demolishing enemy groups and small structures.

one of your earlier posts asked about story/plotting ideas


since the VAST majority of players are thus far Unrecruited, it seems sensible that the initial leg of the story should involve a race to recruit them to Overwatch or Talon.

The villain could set up some very public catastrophe or terrorist attack that forces us players to intervene...and thus conviently bring many Unrecruited superheroes in one location.

Talon would be either trying to hire or capture them, while Overwatch is using this opportunity to see if te Unrecruited can make the cut to join their ranks.

Umm, hullo everyone, I'm Cresion and I was invited (I think it counts as an invatation) by @Victor Markov to join this RP, and umm, I think I will.

I could post the CS today but I'm not done with the picture...I could post it if the GM wants to make sure about somethings in it I guess.

Background: Vinno, originally a simple, human database, the genetically modified child of two researchers who were known for their controversial studies of human genetics, chemical weapons and various drugs. She was created due to the paranoia from one of them, her so called mother after members of her laboratory was assassinated. The original Protocol 7 who was also a merchant in dealing firearms, specialized chemical weapons and biological enhancements, feared that the research made by her and her colleagues could be destroyed, or even worse, be overused to the point of no return. Under the conditions that the Omnic Crisis was ending and nothing could be hidden forever, Vinno was made as an intellectually superior prodigy to be a vessel for the knowledge in chemical and biological weapons and genetic studies. But as time went on her biological mother and father did grow attached to the child, and so did other members of the team.

The happy, normal time didn't last long. After the Omnic Crisis ended, Overwatch hunted down illegal research labs, including the one Vinno was created in. She was the only member in the facility who was spared any consequences, usually death, and was let off with only an injured eye from the cross fire. This was of course due to the fact that she was a young child. The original purpose that she served was never revealed, and she escaped protection facilities, soon after faking her own death by performing plastic surgery on a corpse. Living as a child who is supposed mental when living and now dead. With the information that was cybernetically inputted into her mind, Vinno took on the alias of her now dead biological mother, as Protocol 7, continuing her path as a weapons dealer, but who now only appears via audio with a voice change.

Personality:
Being genetically enhanced, Vinno did skip the brain developing stages of being an infant and toddler, and is unnaturally knowledgeable and mature for her physical age. That aside, she is actually a fairly cheerful person with her childish smile and light footsteps. Many could just think that she is a regular child without in depth observations.

Powers:
Cybernetically enhanced eyesight: the artificial eye she used after losing one during cross fire grants powers such as motion capture, night vision, heat sensors and other useful visionary enhancements.

Abilities:
Immunity to most generic chemical weapons, from her experiences as a child and her genetic enhancements. Having the knowledge of a top geneticist, chemist and biologist, but does not put it to use often. Has exceptional speed and reaction time, also a size advantage. Being able to perfectly disguise as a child so she can be overlooked or underestimated. Though her main weapon is the usage of various self produced chemical weapons and toxins that can penetrate most standard gas masks, but higher quality masks can weaken the effects.

Equipment:
Compact pistol, with regular, explosive, tracking and piercing bullets, also bullets loaded with various drugs so a kill or knock out doesn't need to be very well aimed. Taser. Folded knife basically for non combat purposes (similar to Swiss army knifes). As regular gear.
Various toxins with different effects, mostly custom made and have different formula than the standard ones. Some lethal and others are used for stunning enemies, some are just for torture. Others are for self defense, such as stopping blood, antidotes for other toxins, and deception devices for other chemical weapons.
The last type, are reserved for others, drugs than can enhance physical performance to give to impulsive young people in a combat situation, these have unknown effects, the reason why Vinno never uses them on herself.
Also gas mask and safety goggles for when bring in the bigger attacks.
