[fieldbox="The Ourdos Group, white, dashed, 10"]The nightclub was crisp and clean, the lights sharp and brilliant, but it was still overall dark. No part of it was dingy or rundown, like on Earth. Glass made up a large part of the decor, only adding to the feeling of fanciness.

The dance floor was a mess of color and armor. Those Andera that could bear to take up the little space available in the club did- and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Dance wasn't a popular activity in their culture, but rather it was taken along with the idea of nightclubs from humans. Andera converted the dingy establishments into places of repose and good music.

In the far corner under a brightly lit sign, "Accessories" stood an elegant male with a single eye, a cyclops much like Levy, and polished a human glass. The place where once had only been sold neon lights and glow sticks now seemed to also contain a minibar for the humans, and several bar stools. Red pointed at it, grinning. "Right on~ May, we're getting you sh*tfaced, Sejour get your recording optic ready." Sejour sighed. "I'm not recording that Red. That'd be just plain rude." The other robot laughed, "I was kidding yo." Pop giggled, and said, "Don't worry May, humans go to clubs and drink regularly, right?"[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]Koshi left the door unlocked and went to take care of the cooking before anything else. He readjusted the electronic heater beneath the pot, and dropped in the spaghetti, watching the dry strands bend as if under a terrible pressure.

I do not love mankind, he realized mid-stir, and it scared him.

He had always wanted to see Earth, but humans scared him, even if he was one of them. Overall, Koshi's relationship with the idea of returning was a bittersweet thing- it terrified him, yet at the same time he had always wanted to see Earth. It was the inevitable calling of his ancestry a strange thing often likened to the roots that connect a tree to the ground- and he couldn't refuse to feel a kind of longing for his original home... But Ordaterre was so much safer, so much more familiar...

He traced the edge of the stove with gentle fingers, his eyes wide and unseeing as he thought. It was an unhappy fate, having been planned before his conception and even before his mother was of age, he was sure. Koshi sighed, and turned off the heat. He wasn't hungry anyway.

He went to his room, and opened his luggage to see a mountain of wrinkled, bunched-together clothing. "Damn it..." He sighed.
Suddenly, Koshi felt his phone buzz, so h
e reached into his back pocket and took it out.

The top of the text message said something about neurotransmitters and brain chemicals or something, and Koshi ignored that bit and scrolled down. It was Shia.

"Koshi, there's an afternoon Andera book club meeting almost next door, if you are int-" He shut his phone and threw it onto the bed behind him. Koshi didn't like reading entire Andera books. While he understood their strange script, their books were always so... dull. Human books, on the other hand, were full of epic battles, emotion... passion. Koshi like them a million times better than Andera books. The same went for movies.

"What?" May's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she looked towards the sign "Accessories" before looking at the Andera polishing a glass cup. "They don't go everyday...um I don't thi-" May was interrupted by Red as he slung a metallic arm around her shoulder, slowly leading her over to the mini bar. "Come on May! There's no harm in taking a couple of drinks! We're here with you." The Andera persuaded as he took a seat on a stool and motioned for her to do the same. Levi, Sejour, and Pop all took a seat in the remaining stools to her right. Buying her lip, she gave Red a small nod and took a seat.

The Andera male behind the counter wore the same colored armor as the woman Andera that had greeted them at the door: green. "What can I do you for?" He questioned glancing between May and rest of her friends. Before May could order, Red beat her to it. "Pop! What were those things called where they put it in several little cups?" The peachish-pink Andera thought for a minute before she recalled. "Shots!" "A round of shots please!" Red ordered for her. "Coming right up." The green Andera answered and proceeded to fill up small shot glances with some alcohol induced beverage.

May was growing nervous each second. She had never consumed a liquid with alcohol straight out. Plus, from what she learned in health class, this wouldn't have good results, but...she trusted her friends.

Suddenly the tray was placed in front of her. There were at least a dozen glasses there and each were filled to the brim. "Alright May, there's a game behind this..." The girl's eyes widened and she gave Levi a look. "A game?" She questioned, her tone uneasy and confused. "Yeah! You have to drink as many of them as you can in under a minute. " May stared at him in shock before nodding slowly. She hesitantly picked up one. "Sejour keep time!"

"Alright...start." Sejour announced and May hesitated for a moment before gulping down the first one. A cough left her lips once she swallowed. It was strong and the taste wasn't like what she expected. It wasn't like the wine she had tasted. "Come on May!" She was cheered and it served as a small form of encouragement, because she lifted another glance to her lips and right after another one. She kept going until Sejour told her to stop. She had only left three small glass cups filled, everything else had gone down her throat.

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]Not really feeling like sorting out his wardrobe, Koshi returned to the kitchen, and looked under the sink for cleaning supplies. Nothing. He considered going to the store, (Andera stores were open until 12 at night, closed for four hours for personal break time, and re-opened at 4AM) but then he remembered he couldn't really walk well.

He turned to the radio to the left, tapped the touch screen and selected a station under the Earth Hits category, called 'Chill.' Eyes on Fire began playing, and Koshi left it to go lay down on the couch. As he walked out of the corner of the kitchen, a white plastic bag caught his attention.

There, on the table, was the bottle of vodka Red had brought them. It seemed that he had forgotten to dispose of it.

Koshi lifted it out of the bag, and slowly approached the sink while unscrewing the top. He held the bottle out over the drain in the sink.

He paused.

After a few seconds of uncertainty, Koshi brought his other hand up and grabbed his wrist, keeping the bottle from being returned to him. "Dump it, just dump it all." He scowled, and tightened the grip on his own wrist until it felt like he was about to break it. "Just dump it." The hand forced the bottle upside down, and Koshi watched as the majority of the clear liquid poured out into the sink and down the drain, he couldnt stand to see it anymore so he let the bottle go, and it fell on its side, defeated.

Somewhere, Shia breathed a sigh of relief and leaned away from her monitor.

He left the empty bottle there, lacking the strength to do anymore, and went to go sit on the couch. He removed his shoes, and cursed under his breath as his bandaged foot touched the carpet, now infinitely more sensitive to the fuzzy thing. This was being human, he thought, and the thought didn't make any sense to him so he let it slip away.
He turned to TV on, and laid down, letting his wounded foot rest.

May starred at the remaining shot glasses filled with the alcoholic beverage. "What about those?" May's speech was beginning to sound slurred and she was swaying in her seat. The alcohol was beginning to affect her, yet May didn't even realize it. All she felt was that her brain was functioning slower. "Drink them." Red encouraged as he pulled the glasses closer to her, clearly the Andera had expected for May to react differently. May reached out, lifted the remaining glasses up to her mouth and drank them. The alcohol still burned her tongue, yet it didn't bother her as much. She was slowly her control and she found herself giggling as she looked over to Red. "Are you sure it was okay for her to drink all that?" Sejour questioned as he looked to Red, who nodded. "They do this all the time on Earth." Red reassured. "Do you guys want to dance?" May questioned out of the blue with a huge grin.

The rest of their time there, May did all sorts of things, much to Red's amusement and would occasionally go back to mini bar for shot. By the time they returned which was at one in the morning, May was totally wasted and on the verge of passing out. "Koshiiiii" Levi called our to the human as they helped May over to the couch.

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]The T.V. was getting boring, so Koshi collected himself up off the couch and decided to head down their hallway- he was going to May's room.

If felt weird and creepy to open the door, but Koshi was really curious about her room.

As he entered, he noticed that it was overall slightly bigger than his. This didn't really bother him, as Koshi was very much satisfied with the room he had. Koshi could see the faint outline of a box that had been opened in the center of the space, and he flipped on the light to see May's art strewn across the floor.
He smiled, sheepishly walked inside, and picked up one of the canvases to study it closer. Koshi really loved May's artwork, and the way it contrasted his rather 'plain-and-simple' taste in decor.
Art was such a personal, expressive thing... His fingers feathered across the front of the material, feeling the bumps and grooves of where her brush picked up and left off to tell a story about spring and summer.
He decided, feeling bold, that May wouldn't mind it if he looked through her sketchbook. He picked up the first on he saw in the box, and opened it to the latest page.

There he was, drawn dark and beautiful, with a dark mark around his neck, wringing him like a python could.

He looked at it for a moment longer until he couldn't see it anymore beyond his tears. Had what he done affected her that badly? She drew him... He felt it was a morbid honor to be drawn like that. Slowly, carefully, he lowered the book into the box, walked to the door, and wordlessly turned off the lights and closed the door.

He wiped his eyes on the back of his hand quickly, and went back into the kitchen deciding that he was actually pretty hungry.

Suddenly, the door opened and he heard his name being called by Levy. He saw them literally dragging May in, and Koshi felt his heart beat through his chest. "Wh... What happened?!"

Red chuckled, "Well, we partied hardcore!"

Koshi clutched his forhead and breathed out through his nose, looking frustrated.

"Have you been crying? Your eyes are all red." Levy piped up.

Koshi freaked a little, "NO. It, uh... It's just the dust..." He briskly walked over to investigate May's state of consciousness.

"I can't believe you guys let her go this far..."[/fieldbox]

May collapsed onto the couch while squeezing her eyes shut. She felt exhausted and she wanted nothing more than to just go to sleep. Suddenly she opened her eyes and she spotted Koshi. A smile settled onto her lips as she looked up at him. "Hey, Koshi...did you relax while we were gone?" She questioned, her words still coming out slurred.

The girl was still drunk and still lacked that self control. "I missed you. Here! Give me a hug!" May grinned a she slowly sat up and grabbed his wrist before pulling him towards her into a hug.

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]Koshi, with his injured foot, lacked the balance to stay upright when May suddenly pulled him closer. "Gah!" His serious face became one of utter 'oh shit' as he landed on top of her, at the same time trying to prop himself up with his free hand on the headrest to keep himself from squishing the poor girl. His bad leg reflexively went up to keep his foot from touching the ground, and thus his knee ended up resting to the right of May's hip, tucking them into a rather awkward position indeed.

Pop looked up to Red, a little concerned. "Is this how human babies are made?" The Andera dissolved into laughter, even Sejour found it funny.

"Um, not exactly." Levy replied, still heaving with laughter.

"Sorry!" Koshi turned bright red and tried to wiggle away. He tilted his body and plopped onto the couch beside May after his foot decided it couldn't bear the meager weight of his body.

Koshi watched her with eyes full of worry. "May..." He sighed... Well, at least she was with their friends... otherwise, who knew what would have happened?

"Alright, well. We're leaving her in your responsible hands, alright Koshi?"

"Yeah, we better get home, I have work in an hour." Levi turned to the door, and the Andera readied themselves to leave.

"Oh great, first you guys get her wasted..." Koshi grumbled, staring at them angrily.

"Bye Koshi!" Pop sent him an air-kiss, and followed the other Andera out of the house.[/fieldbox]

May starred up at Koshi with a small grin and she couldn't help but to poke his cheek. "What's wrong?" She questioned as her smile disappeared and one of confusion came in place. He just suddenly had this look come on his face and May was a bit surprised by it, since he seemed fine just a minute ago.

When their group of Andera friends were taking their leave. "Bye you guys~" May sang as she waved at them a small laugh leaving her lips. Once the door shut behind them, May turned to look at Koshi. "Cheer up koshi!! Let's have some fun!" May pulled out her phone and began to play an upbeat song, before standing up and beginning to dance. "Come on." She urged as she stopped to grab his hand and attempted to pull him up.

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]"Uh... um. I dunno if..." Koshi let himself get pulled to his feet, somehow unable to say no to her. He winced and looked down at his bandaged foot, before deciding to ignore it like he had been trying to do all this time.

He didn't know if he should stand his ground and bring her back to reality, or... No, Koshi didn't want to disappoint her- May was in such a good mood... She was smiling and all, not looking at him with worry. Not looking for his bruises.

But dancing was never his forte. "May, I c-can't really dance... I d-don't know how." He blushed, and stammered.[/fieldbox]

May had been in the middle of a body roll when she heard Koshi mention his inability to dance. A grin settled onto her lips and she moved to stand in front of him. "It's real easy." She said loudly over the music from her phone. May paused the music and rested a hand on his shoulder. "Here, I'll let you in on a secret." She motioned with her hand for him to come closer so she could whisper in his ear. "Just let loose and have fun, do what feels right with the music." She said before pressing the play button and she started to dance around again, only this time she grabbed his hand and moved them around.

"Just have fun!" May said again as she waited for him to move.

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]Oh gosh, Koshi somehow felt that this wasn't going to go well at all, but he swallowed his fear and stayed standing, watching May.
Koshi couldn't avert his gaze from her dancing. She stopped to whisper in his ear and and he blushed. Koshi almost gave up- considering the couch to be a better place for someone like him, but May was so happy...
So, he let her move his hands, and somehow... He found the courage to attempt to do something he had seen in an Earth movie before. The first few steps went well, and Koshi found that he was somewhat pleased with what was happening right now.

But, then his steps faltered and he found himself wincing more and more as his feet made contact with the carpet. "Phew... I can't do this anymore." He fell back into the couch, and looked at the wall clock hanging to the right of their hallway. It was well past 2AM, and Koshi was really beat. He glanced up at May, and gave her a sleepy smile, "Come on, party princess, we should go to sleep. Or at least do something to unwind, since it's so late."[/fieldbox]

May grew excited when Koshi began to dance, but all too soon he collapsed on the couch and May decided to join him. At his smile, May noticed his eyes looked tired. "Are you tired? Maybe you should get some sleep? What time is it?" She questioned as she turned on the screen of her phone and saw that it was past 2 in the morning. "Wow!" She commented before standing up from her seat. "Perhaps you should head on to bed?" May still had a lot of energy so she would maybe do something in her room while Koshi slept.

Bouncing off, May headed t the kitchen and went to open the fridge, yet there wasn't anything in yet since they just moved in. So with a small pout, she shut the fridge and walked over to sit on one of the stools.

[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]"Yeah, I think I will. I'm mostly concerned about you. How do you have so much energy, huh?" He teased, then frowned when he saw her go to the kitchen.

"Oh shit, I'm sorry... I was going to make spaghetti, but I guess I forgot or something... I'll go to the store first thing in the morning." Koshi sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

He considered going to his room to sleep... May seemed mostly ok, so Koshi was sure that it would be safe to leave her alone. He felt off, somehow. He couldn't quite place the feeling. For a moment he sat there, lost in thought.

Then, Koshi stood up, smiled half-heartedly and said, "Good night May... If you need anything, feel free to come get me."

Koshi turned and walked down the dark hallway. He passed May's room and immediately thought of her sketchbook, and his heart lurched in his chest.

He opened the door to his room, and closed it behind himself. Koshi knew there was no point in going to the bathroom to bathe since he didn't do the shopping, and there would be no soap. Plus, he felt relatively fresh from not doing anything all day. Still, that overly-hygienic, nagging voice in the back of his head berated him.
In response, Koshi
started unbuttoning his shirt, and when he had that off, he walked over to his luggage and pulled out his pajama top from the mess. It was a navy blue, oversized shirt, and when he put it on, the neck was so big it opened under his collarbones, leaving his bruise completely exposed - and that made him feel weird. He hated having it out... But, the room was pretty warm and there was no way he'd wear anything with long sleeves to bed (Koshi was practically a furnace at all times of the day). He also made the decision to wear boxers instead of finding pants. Because, one, he was way to tired to search for them, and two, as mentioned, was way too warm in his room.

Koshi gave a breathy sigh, and went over to his balcony.

He stepped outside, and was met with a warm breeze that ruffled his hair and picked up his shirt. The boy marveled at the feeling, and then looked down at the street, watching all the bright lights and fast-moving cars. An air-tram whooshed past, somewhere beyond his vision.
The sounds of the city were oddly comforting.

He looked down with an intense stare, and brought a hand up to touch the mark around his neck. His fingers ghosted over it, and Koshi leaned his body further over the railing, wondering what it would be like to fall.

May looked over to Koshi and gave him a smile before shaking her head. "No! It's fine! Don't worry about it." May reassured before spinning around on the stool. After a few seconds, she stopped and gripped the counter to keep from falling over. Her whole world was spinning and May squeezed her eyes shut a small grown leaving her lips.

She seemed to be sobering up slightly, but her brain still felt a bit fuzzy. Maybe she could make some spaghetti and surprise Koshi. All she needed to know was where he placed the sauce and stuff, but first she would go change into some comfortable clothing. So she stood up and stumbled across the living before leaning against the wall and heading to her room.

Her dainty hand settled on the door knob and she pushed the door open, but in her drunk stupor she hadn't realized or bothered to look at the signs with their names so she ended up in Koshi's room. May blinked for a moment and she took in his surroundings before realizing where she was. "Koshi?" She called out before noticing a figure on the balcony.

In that moment, she felt her blood run cold when she noticed how much he was over the railing. "Koshi!" She called as she ran-more like stumbled- towards the balcony and swiftly wrapping her arms around his waist and pulling him back, sending them flying to the ground. "What're you doing?" She questioned as she pushed her bangs away from her face.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]Koshi watched the world underneath him before realizing, 'Holy crap that would be terrifying.' But he stayed leaning over like that, because Koshi had just realized, to his amusement, that the Andera looked pretty small from this distance. Not quite like ants, as the humans say... He heard his name being called behind him, and Koshi leaned back a bit.

Suddenly, someone was wrapping their arms around his waist and he was on the ground. He blinked, just laying there.

"May... What?" He turned to look at her, and propped his body up on his elbows. "The city's really pretty at night."

The realization struck him suddenly, and he knew what May was worried that he would do. He had seen it before in a human movie- a woman had climbed up onto the ledge of her building, and for a second the air seemed to hold her up, but then she fell like a stone with her dress fanning out around her, looking like a sinking jellyfish.

"May, I wasn't going to do anything bad..."

Suddenly her drawing popped into his mind. Koshi layed back down on the tiled balcony, seeing nothing but roof above him, and what a sad thing it was.
A lump formed in his throat, and tears started to appear in his eyes. Koshi tried rubbing them away with the back of a hand.

May was sobering up a little bit more, now that this had happened. Though she realized that maybe she had overreacted and she couldn't help but to feel bad for that.

"Koshi, I'm sorry. It looked...sorry." May apologized as she crawled over to him. The guilt increased when a year managed to escape and skid down his check. She reached over and wiped it away. "I'm sorry." She said before wrapping her arms around him and burying her head in his chest.

"I didn't mean to make you feel bad, I just came in and it-it looked bad from my perspective." May explained trying to get him to feel better. Sitting up, May starred down at his face and she moved her hands up to gently wipe the tears and her left hand strayed from his eyes and moved to cares his hair. Her fingers went through his hair smoothly and gave him a small apologetic smile.

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]Koshi wasn't really too upset anymore, in fact, he realized May's reaction was perfectly justified.

He laid there, just watching her sitting over him and appreciating her company. She wiped a tear from his eye, and another one followed it because at this point it was too late to stop whatever faucet had opened among his eyelashes. As May buried her face in his chest, Koshi instinctively wrapped his arms around her and looked down at her through blurred vision, his cheeks glowing red as he realized he was crying again.

May sat up, and his puppy-dog eyes followed her, grey irises reflecting the neon pink light behind them on the street. They half-closed when her fingers went through his hair, and Koshi felt ants running down his neck.
"It's ok, really. I understand why." He looked away.

After a moment of this his tears finally stopped, and Koshi sat up, wearing a shy smile. "Ah, you're going to put me to sleep on the balcony." He chuckled.

"May..." Suddenly, the smile disappeared, and he looked serious. "I can't keep myself... I know I'm not..." Koshi found it hard to find the right words- they were jumbled up in his brain like the clothing in his luggage. He gave up and ended with, "I'm glad that... you're looking out for me."[/fieldbox]

"Ahh..." May chuckled lightly, a light tint of red appearing on her cheeks as she sat back. "Sorry."

When his expression suddenly grew serious, May nodded as a way to say for him to say what he had to say. Once he finally did, a small smile couldn't help but to appear on her lips and she once again reached out to hug him.

"I'll always look out for you. I care about you a lot, Koshi. You're a great friend and I'm glad to know you." She started as she rested her chin on his shoulder. After a while, she pulled back and stood up before holding out a hand for Koshi to take. "Come on, it's time to catch some sleep."

[fieldbox="Koshi, white, dashed, 10"]Koshi smiled brightly. New tears welled in his eyes, but they weren't the result of any other emotion other than happiness at having such a compassionate person with him on Ordaterre. He took May's hand, and got up off the cold balcony floor, returning to the dark, warm room.

He uncovered his bed and laid down on the mattress, finding it was perfect- soft, but firm. His pillow was practically a marshmallow. He curled up, and pressed his cheek into it, admiring its softness. After a moment, Koshi said to May, "I'm... scarred to sleep. Isn't that weird?" And then he chuckled.

"It's like... When you sleep, you stop existing. It's scary." He mumbled. He felt a bit like child, but it only embarrassed him a little.

The two were raised without warmth, without human touch.

May had always been the braver one, Koshi was the crybaby, and it had always been that way, and it seems that it still is. Shia jokingly said to him once, '... After all, human males mature much later than females.' Despite how responsible he seemed- cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, Koshi felt useless and small, and always had. And it wasn't because the Andera were so big.

The only warmth they ever received came from each other, not Shia, who had practically raised them.

May seemed to be trying her hardest to grow sober, but Koshi almost wished she was still drunk. Then maybe it would be ok if he asked her to stay with him, sleep beside him like they were allowed to do when they were little... But he couldn't do that if she was sober, Koshi wanted to be show her that he was trying to be strong.[/fieldbox]

May followed Koshi back inside his bedroom and she stopped at the foot of his bed, listening intently to his words. "I understand what you mean, but we don't cease to exist completely." May commented before glancing down at her feet.

She didn't want to leave Koshi by himself. A part was because of the incidents where he had inflicted self harm, but it was mainly because it was just them two. What she meant by that was that they were the only actual humans there, everyone else was an...Andera.

"Um, Koshi...do you want me to-to stay here?" May questioned as she began to fidget in her spot.
