It is believed that orcs existed in the world long before the Sundering, for once the continents separated and collided with foreign lands, the orcs unleashed their fury upon the unwelcomed elves. They carry no records of their past until further into Year 1000 of the First Era as they began to document their technological achievements after some concepts were lost after untimely deaths.

Orcs are a race incapable of magic and tend to loathe those who can wield it. They believe magic to be lazy and hindering to society, especially when they compare it to their own achievements. Orcs have long been industrial, crafting powerful, non-magical siege weaponry and creating a stable economy within their kind for hundreds of years. Now that most of the orcish colonies are allied with the human and elven kingdoms, they have come to share their way of life, hoping to expand knowledge to those who have yet to grow.

These people are highly intelligent despite previous notions of the race. Orcs are known to have adept engineers and a higher level of thinking when compared to the other races. While they are most noted for their weaponry, since it was the key factor in winning the wars against magic, their architects and scholars are also very notable even throughout other cultures.

Orcs revere personal accomplishments. Their political system is led by those who have achieved much in their life either through war or through academic achievements. This has shaped their naming conventions, for those whose names are separated by an apostrophe have been given a title by their respective leader. The titles are placed after the apostrophe at the end of their name.

The Orcs of Usun'Drovad

While much of the northern expanse of the continent of Northlyn is owned by orcs, the Orcs of Usun'Drovad only occupy about twenty percent of the land. Usun'Drovad reaches towards the world's northern pole, though before the Sundering it was likely located further South. These orcs are comprised of self-sustaining clans each with their own leaders and laws. The first airship was conceived by an orc presiding in this region living within Clan Abgog.

They are a fierce people with an intelligence beyond measure. Had it not been for peace treaties with the elves and humans towards the end of the First Era they would have likely been able to conquer most, if not all of the Lyn continents themselves. They are a very demanding and confident lot, but respect is a major part of their culture. To this, it is a great embarrassment to lose respect and a high achievement to earn it. Titles are very important to them, and above most other orcish regions they regard their titles very seriously.

Along with the Orcs of Drasa, Usun'Drovad is one of the most powerful orcish regions in the world.

These orcs are bulky in physique by genetics, though their tone is dependent on their profession. They have been known to have leaner folk, though their bone structure still gives them a bigger silhouette. Their tusks are smaller, reaching only about to to the edge of their upper lip at the lengthiest and their ears are pointed like an elf's. Their skin tone ranges from a dark rust to a mossy green and their hair is typically black and textured.

The Orcs of Sus

Known as the Gentle Giants, the Orcs of Sus are a good foot and a half taller than their neighboring kin, yet far less aggressive. They broke away from Usun'Drovad due to racism that led to their inslavement and near extinction. The people of Sus battled the Orcs of Usun'Drovad for years, eventually liberating these giant orcs and turning the tables in their favor. Due to this, these orcs have vowed to stay within Sus as their protectors.

There are perhaps only a few thousand living at a time, their numbers fluctuating and teetering on the brink of their end. The healers of Sus take great care in aiding these orcs through their lives and pregnancies. Miscarriages are common and often lead to the death of the mother as well.

They are a gentle folk that enjoy their lives regardless. These orcs tend to stick with their families and aid the towns closest to their homes. Sus experiences little war due to these larger orcs.

The Orcs of Sus consider the highland yak, which carries a curly coat of fur, a pet, and thus Sus considers them a sacred animal. Any harm to highland yaks is punishable by death.

The Higher Orcs of Drasa

The Higher Orcs of Drasa are the most vicious of their kind. They are known as Higher not just in status but in location. They dwell on the surface as the rulers of Drasa while they enslave their lower kin for labor. These orcs are tall and massively built and are constantly at war among themselves. They keep to their land as long as the humans of Estwynd keep to theirs. There was an entire century where the two species were at war with each other until mysteriously the orcs backed away. Trade from Northlyn is minimal, and many would argue they are not as advanced as those in Usun'Drovad.

Most of these orcs live in the Southern parts of Drasa due to the extreme winters with long nights. They are incredibly resilient to the cold and are known to wear pelts made from kills they procured single handedly. Wolf and bear furs are common. Humans are considered an easy kill and therefore rarely put on display as a mark of achievement. They have never learned the Estwynd language of Lengish and have no interest in doing so.

It is common for these orcs to reach heights closer to seven feet tall. Their hair is thick and colors of grey and black. Their skin ranges from white to dark grey with eyes in the lighter spectrum. Their tusks are short and sharp and do not often protrude outside of their lips, though underbites are still common. When at war, it is customary to smear the blood of their first kill across their faces.
