Opposites Attract

Joey looked and her and shook his head when she asked the question. "I had friends in grade school. Some of them talked to me in middle school. No one likes me now," he ended in a murmur. At least she could understand his pain. She sounded about as alone as he was. But she wasn't as upset about it as he was.

[[OOC: Sorry for the short post. Headed to bed. I'll reply in the morning before class~]]

Anastasia frowned, that sucked that his supposed friends had ditched him like that, the guy had to be lonely. That hadn't happened with her and Sarah. Sarah had gotten very sick during Freshmen year and had to go to the hospital and get treatment and she hadn't been able to come back to school before... Ana shook her head again, it wouldn't be any good if she started bawling in the middle of the office.

"I'm sorry that happened Joey, but I'm sure you'll find friends soon." she smiled brightly at him again, though this time it was a little forced

[[OOC: Don't worry about it, I understand. Good night and sleep well :) ]]

[[OOC: Can't sleep >> If I end up just posting a few times, I fell asleep at the computer XD]]

Joey waited patiently for her response, and almost scoffed at her reply. "You're the only one who hasn't pushed me in a locker, shoved, or tripped me today," he said, looking down at the bandages on his hands. His fingers clenched and unclenched, though not without a wince from the stinging pain that it caused. "Let alone all through the year."

Ana sighed and ran a hand through her hair, no wonder the guy was so angry and bitter. Dropping her hand into her lap, Ana stared out the window, looking at the bright sunny sky. "I know it's tough, no wait, that's a lie, sorry. I don't, I've never been picked on or beat up, but trust me when I say you'll get friends eventually. It won't happen over night but it will happen."

She looked at his hands, "Want me to talk to the jocks at least? I can get them to stop... Wait, you probably don't want me too. Isn't someone, especially if that someone's a girl, interfering in your business, like against the guy code or something? Wouldn't that just make worse if I said something? I don't want you to get even more beat up 'cause of me."

He shook his head. "No. I know if I tell anyone who's doing it, it will only get worse. I've begged mom to home school me, but she's too busy with work. Dad's living out of state with the military. I'm just... stuck here," he sighed and clamped his mouth shut before his emotions got the best of him. He would not start crying at school. That would just be icing on the cake.

"Oh, I'm sorry?" Ana phrased it as a question. She wasn't sure if he'd take her saying sorry as a form of pity and get mad at her. It wasn't pity, just sympathy but he might not see it like that, especially since she could see him fighting back tears. "It will get better though I'm sure. If you wish and hope for something enough it's bound to happen right?"

He nodded, his thoughts turning to the moon once again. "I hope you're right," he said, almost quiet enough so she couldn't hear. He jumped when the bell rang, his thoughts being pulled back to where they were. He thought for a moment and looked over at her curiously, his brows furrowed in confusion. He'd never heard her being called down to the office before. "Did you get in trouble?" He asked, then realized it was a rude question. "Sorry, never-mind. It's none of my business," he apologized and looked back at the floor, checking his phone again. Still nothing from his mom.

Ana grinned, "Nah, it's okay, you can ask." She sighed and brushed her hair out of her eyes again, "I'm not really in trouble. I just got sent down here because the Math teacher's a prick and doesn't like that I doodle in class." she rolled her eyes, "It's not my fault I learn better by doodling. Anyway, I get sent down here almost every day. The principle and I have an agreement, I keep my temper with the teacher and he won't tell me off or write me up."

She hopped up one the bell rang, grabbing her stuff. "Anyway, I gotta go. I'll talk to you tomorrow, maybe?" she smiled and waved, "See you Joey."

He looked at her in surprise. "Uh, yeah. Sure," he said and dared to hope that she would want to talk to him again. The small smile touched his lips, he noticed. "Bye," he lifted his hand in a wave.

Eventually the school day came to an end, and his mother still hadn't messaged him. He got onto the school bus, as always, and rode in the front seat, getting off at his stop without incident. His mother finally called to say she was on his way about an hour after he'd reached the front door. He told her he was already home and hung up without saying goodbye, flopping down onto the bed. He winced as he'd forgotten his cheeks had been scraped open, but sighed and chose to ignore the stinging pain as he laid on his stomach.

At the end of the day Ana booked it outside, all but running out to the parking lot where her older brother was waiting for her. Ana was old enough to learn how to drive but she was so accident prone and spastic that she and the rest of her family and friends all agreed that it would better for everyone if she didn't learn how to drive.

"How was your day, Anya?" her brother Charlie asked, using a Russin variant for Anastasia as a nickname. It was his petname for her and was one of the only ones allowed to use it. Anyone else got corrected on her name.

She sighed and got into the car. "It was okay, I got asked out again." She rolled as he laughed, "Yes, yes very funny. Can we go home now?"

Charlie nodded and, still chuckling, started driving.

Once the got home, Ana decided to start on her homework, finishing somewhat quickly (there wasn't much) and then flopped down on her bed, closing her eyes as the sunlight spilled over her.

Joey did his homework after re-doing the bandages and getting a shower in before he settled down. He made sure it was all done before he took a pain pill and laid down to get some sleep. He just wanted this all to be over as quickly as possible.

[sorry for the short post; tired and a little braindead]

[That's okay, I totally understand So am I, so no worries :)]

Ana had fallen asleep, apparently, since she was woken up for dinner a while later after flopping down on her bed. After eating quickly and playing the good daughter and answering her parents questions about her day, Ana went up stairs and had a nice hot bath to relax before bed. Drying off, Anna put on her Pj's and then went to bed, falling asleep quickly

Joey felt the moonlight fall on him, and he opened his eyes, looking out the window. "There you are," he murmured, noting how late it was. He climbed out his window and sat on the roof, resting his arms on his drawn-up knees. He took the bandages off of his face and hand, and let the moonlight rest on them. "You wouldn't believe the day I had," he began and told the moon his story of the day's happenings. Once he was done, he yawned and crawled back into bed, wishing the moon a goodnight as he closed his eyes and succumbed once again to the drowsiness of the pain pills.

Ana woke up before her alarm went off, just as the sun started to rise. She slid off the bed and flicked off the alarm so that it wouldn't accidentally go off now that she was awake. Glancing out the window and at the rising Sun, Ana smiled and started to get ready for school. After making sure her bag was packed and ready to go, she stripped out of her pj's and dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans and purple top with flow-y sleeves. Slipping down stairs quietly (she was the only one in her family who was a morning person) Ana had a quick bowl of cereal and then went back upstairs to finish getting ready. After that, there was still a bit of time before she had to go, the rest of her family just starting to get up, so Ana sat at the window, basking in the sunlight.

Joey got up after slamming the snooze button on his alarm and yawned, stretching. He felt his face with his hand and smiled to himself, as the scrapes were mostly healed by now, just pink scar tissue that still had to finish healing. He got up and took his shower, hoping today would not be a repeat of yesterday. Once he was done getting ready for school, he left for the bus stop and waited, having replaced the bandages on his face so no one would know how quickly he truly healed, thanks to his friend, the moon.

"Anya, let's go. You don't want to be late do you?"

Anastasia bolted up right, her room coming back into focus. She had been so comfortable that she had zoned out. It wasn't always a bad thing but when Ana spaced like that, she tended to see things. Odd things or things that hadn't happened yet. "Coming!" she called, shaking her head to clear the images. Running down stairs, she said goodbye to the rest of her family and got into Charlie's car, getting to school in ten minutes.

With a sigh she got out of the car and started to head toward her locker, ignoring all the guys -and some of the girls- looking at her

The bus finally came and Joey boarded it, staying in his usual front seat. As they arrived at the school, he was the first off the bus and walked inside to his locker. As the usual guys came up to him to shove him into his locker, Joey fought back this time. A crowd gathered as the three struggled - two against one. Joey was shoved to the ground and kicked several times before the teachers finally came over to break it up. Joey was bruised, no surprise, but he hadn't gotten any shots on the others.

Ana inwardly sighed as she walked down the hall, ignoring the people staring at her and babbling about air headed things popular girls like her were supposed to babble about with one of her female "friends". They we're headed to her first period class when the stopped; there was a crowd gathering in one of the other corridors, a fight or something. Ana's eyes widened when she saw it was Joey being beat up and let out a small growl; she knew the boys picking on him. She was about to go pull them off of him (she was stronger then she looked) but remembered that Joey had told her not to interfere and she had to agree that it would probably make it worse, having a girl defend you.

So she did the next best thing and alert a few teachers who managed to break it up

Joey and the boys were taken to the principal's office - Joey to the nurse first to take care of the little bleeding that had begun from his nose. The bullies said that Joey had started it, but Joey had told the principal that he was just getting ready for his first class. The principal pieced the two together, from his cuts from yesterday, and the fight this morning. He knew these two boys were bullying him, and wrote them up a suspension for a few weeks. If they came back and continued their bullying, they'd be expelled.

He also assigned one of the security officers to escort Joey to each of his classes, so no one else would mess with him, all against Joey's will. The boy just wanted to be left alone and not stand out at all. He sighed, giving up as the officer escorted him to his class. He ignored the looks he got and whispers as he sat down and the officer let the teacher continue the lesson.

Ana sighed in relief when the fight was broken up; she might not really know Joey, but she didn't like fighting and the thought of him hurt made her feel nauseous. Saying good bye to her friend, she made her way to first period and took out her sketchbook, turning to a page with a half completed drawing on it. It was of a girl with long hair (blonde, though you couldn't tell from the pencil drawing) smiling widely.

She was wrapped up in the drawing, she only looked up to hand in her homework and didn't notice the door open or the whispering voices, though she did notice the lecture had stopped, but figured since it didn't seem like an emergency it would start back up again and didn't bother looking up.
