Asmo is excused till the 9th. The rest of you are getting sent to the Commissar if I dun see some character sheets soon.

I'm having difficulty creating a male character. >=(
So don't, the Imperial Guard has women too, and to my knowledge the Elysian's are not one of the few regiments that are men only.

Examples I can think of off my head of mixed-gender Guard units.

Valhallans, Cadians, Tanith.

From the Op.

In Only War: To The Last, you play the role of an Elysian Drop Trooper fighting on a newly opened front of the battle for Kulth. You're not an inhumanly powerful Space Marine, you're not some special forces super-soldier; you're just an ordinary man or woman trained in an unconventional method of warfare, fighting alongside your comrades in arms in the name of the Emperor.

When creating your character, there are a few important things to consider.

NAME: Janna Aiar
RANK: Private.
SPECIALITY: Vox Operator

PERSONALITY:

Janna's family has been in the guard or in the PDF for generations. Even from a young age she planned to continue the tradition. With both her father and grandfather to teach her she understands the ins and out of her equipment and how to care for it.

Janna battles with a constant need to prove herself coupled with a history of losing her hear under pressure. It hasn't happened since the riots that landed her in the drop troopers but it's easy to tell when she's gauging her own mood, trying to figure out if she's going to do it again. The riots also left Janna with a deep distrust of officers, and although many of her family's friends are officers in the PDF if she doesn't know them personally she won't trust them as far as she can throw them. This seems to extend in part to intelligence officers and people promising support.

Off duty she changes completely, shedding the shell of control and mistrust and exposing a soldier who needs to relax just as hard as she fights. It is her bold claim that she can drink any man, woman, or officer in the brigade under the table and is willing to bed good money on it! But duty will always come first and drinks can wait until after equipment is checked and cleaned.

NOTEABLE SKILLS: Other that shouting whoever is on the other end of a vox link into submission and getting them what little support or intel they can manage Janna is very handy with a knife, having been trained by two generations of veterans in her family since a young age.Her grandfather swears he's taken down Ogryns with nothing but a standard issue combat knife, and Janna believes him.

BACKGROUND: Why join the death jumpers? Those crazy assholes tho leap from screaming warplanes into the jaws of death to snatch victory from the gaping maw and come home bloodied but with a grin on your teeth? I'll tell you why for the price of a drink.

Not this piss, something actually worth the price of looking at your ugly mug for the time it takes to tell.

Better... better...

We I never wanted to be in the drop troopers. My dada was, his dada before him too. No I was happy wearing the uniform of the planetary defense force.I picked up a paycheck for polishing armor and looking pretty for parades. It was a good living and there was food which was more than a lot of people could say back then. Probably why the riots broke out. They sent in the usual enforcers and when they couldn't deal with it the PDF were called. Our orders were simple, stand around in a line looking menacing to convince the ruffians that going into the square was a bad idea. So we put on out battle dress, grabbed out lasguns and took stood were we were told to, a line of muzzles and bayonets to tell the people to go home.

They didn't. They marched right towards us, fanned out and waved their weapons at us. Tools mostly, a few batons taken from the enforcers. One or two had a primitive stubber but by the emperor they outnumbered us at least a dozen to one. Those in front were calm as could be even when the rocks started flying but the sergeant... He started freaking out, saying his dada was too important for him to die. He starts yelling and then a lucks shot smashed a bottle into his face and strewth I have never heard someone scream so much in my life. Then he gives the order to open fire. No one moved. Our orders were not to fire unless fired at first but he grabs my shoulder and starts shaking, yelling that if someone didn't open fire we would have us all as traitors.

I turn and next thing I know the barrel of my gun it right under his chin and I'm telling him to sit down and let a medic take a look at his face. He starts yelling more and next thing I know all hell breaks loose. I still don't know which side fired first but I do know someone clubbed me from behind and when I woke up my old training officer and a friend of my dada is sitting in my cell saying that someone was doing this best to have me put on trial and it looked like they were going to succeed too. Instead of seeing my dada go through the same of me being discharged and probably later murdered though there was another way. Not ever a noble with a spoiled brat of a son would dare touch something that belonged to the emperor, so all I had to do was sigh myself away to his service. I will never forget how proud my dada looked when I told him I'd 'volunteered' but his face... kinda made it all worth it...

NOTEABLE EQUIPMENT:

Vox caster.
Imperial eagle amulet with "Jactura" etched into the reverse side. Family heirloom.
Set of bone dice.

RELATIONSHIP WITH REST OF SQUAD:

Jeremia Kores: Hesitant respect. Janna has had bad experiences with officers but Jeremiah has gone a long way towards proving himself.

Ishmael Straun: She is unsure of the man, they rarely speak.

Peter Baeur: She is genuinely fond of Peter, though she pities him for the wakeup that is inevitably coming.

NAME: Xander "X" Aperion
RANK: Private
SPECIALITY: Demolition Specialist

APPEARANCE:
Imperial_Guard_Forest_by_Vamrek.jpg

PERSONALITY: He is an ESFJ. Here are some pointers. =D

ESFJ STRENGTHS
  • Strong Practical Skills - ESFJs are excellent managers of day-to-day tasks and routine maintenance, enjoying making sure that those who are close to them are well cared for.
  • Strong Sense of Duty - People with the ESFJ personality type have a strong sense of responsibility and strive to meet their obligations, though this may sometimes be more from a sense of social expectations than intrinsic drive.
  • Very Loyal - Valuing stability and security very highly, ESFJs are eager to preserve the status quo, which makes them extremely loyal and trustworthy partners and employees. ESFJs are true pillars of any groups they belong to - whether it is their family or a community club, people with this personality type can always be relied upon.
  • Sensitive and Warm - Helping to ensure that stability, ESFJ personalities seek harmony and care deeply about other people's feelings, being careful not to offend or hurt anybody. ESFJs are strong team players, and win-win situations are the stuff smiles are made of.
  • Good at Connecting with Others - These qualities come together to make ESFJs social, comfortable and well-liked. ESFJ personalities have a strong need to "belong", and have no problem with small talk or following social cues in order to help them take an active role in their communities.
ESFJ WEAKNESSES
  • Worried about Their Social Status - These Strengths are related to a chief Weakness: ESFJs' preoccupation with social status and influence, which affects many decisions they make, potentially limiting their creativity and open-mindedness.
  • Inflexible - ESFJs place a lot of importance on what is socially acceptable, and can be very cautious, even critical of anything unconventional or outside the mainstream. People with this personality type may also sometimes push their own beliefs too hard in an effort to establish them as mainstream.
  • Reluctant to Innovate or Improvise - Just as they can be critical of others' "unusual" behavior, ESFJs may also be unwilling to step out of their own comfort zones, usually for fear of being (or just appearing) different.
  • Vulnerable to Criticism - It can be especially challenging to change these tendencies because ESFJs are so conflict-averse. ESFJ personalities can become very defensive and hurt if someone, especially a person close to them, criticizes their habits, beliefs or traditions.
  • Often Too Needy - ESFJs need to hear and see a great deal of appreciation. If their efforts go unnoticed, people with the ESFJ personality type may start fishing for compliments, in an attempt to get reassurance of how much they are valued.
  • Too Selfless - The other side of this is that ESFJs sometimes try to establish their value with doting attention, something that can quickly overwhelm those who don't need it, making it ultimately unwelcome. Furthermore, ESFJs often neglect their own needs in the process.

NOTABLE SKILLS: Very astute with explosive knowledge and practical application. He also has studied, for years, structure of all sorts of buildings to figure out the best way to bring it down. Definitely favors melee to mid range weapons, over a sniper and his weapon skills has evolved as such.

BACKGROUND: Xander was a tinkerer, ever since he was a child, on Elysia herself in the slums of the capital city. He joined when it was time (earlyish in life 20s) and was able to use his...."curiosity" in explosives to be put to good use. He has love for his Emperor and his family and friends and felt joining the Planetary Defense Force was the best way to get himself a way to give back.

Soon after basic training, Xander had been looking into this "Drop Trooper" topic that he had heard around the watercooler. His CO talked it over with him, telling him it would be going off world. Knowing his "expertise in boom", as he puts it, would always be needed in a place there. He decided to enlist and wrote a letter to his family and gave them a good farewell before being shipped off.

Hopefully, he doesn't blow himself up.

NOTEABLE EQUIPMENT: (In addition to the loadout) x2 Krak Grenades, x2 Demo Charges, x2 Snare Mine

RELATIONSHIP WITH REST OF SQUAD:
Jeremia Kores - He is the type of leader that is not in your ear but gets in your head. It works for him and X appreciates that. Sarge is a statue that he can look to if need be. He hopes to last long enough to be in a leadership position one day.
Terrick Vesperin - Good teammate. Xander feels the squad can benefit from having a man that can break open the constant feelings of death and decay. A real spirit lifter, that one.
Greis Carthex - A medic obsessed with death and life. Makes sense, considering the profession. The authority his presence brings should be respected and Xander has no issue with that. Still, he might stay away from him unless he has a bullet wound.
Ishmael Straun - The guy is as quiet as the death that awaits them all. Not a easiest thing to have at your side but then again, the gun will be most of the talking for him.
Peter Baeur - Anyone who isn't willing stand and die beside his squadmates can go fuck themselves. Fucking great sniper though.
Janna Aiar - The phone handler is a woman...seems gender roles don't change much. He can relate how they both need to prove their worth and drinking until everything looks like a dream sequence. She is a good woman and he is happy to have her around.
Dominic Kross - Xander might be the first guy to say "Express yourself" but Dom wound up tighter than a welded arsehole. If he has a deathwish and want to be on the frontline, let him fulfilled his dream before we have to clean off his blood.
Ollanas Deimos - Helmet on: Quite Tight-ass. Helmet off: A friend. Xander just has to wait until it is off to go near her.

Damn, this looks awesome.

A warhammer RP, how exciting! A few questions though, although I have rarely seen any connection between the Sisters of Battle and the Imperial Guard why are they not allowed in this RP? Besides Koori. :-D
I think the Sisters of Battle would be of value to the Imperial Guard being the backbone of the healthcare system, but after deeper reading into the RP I see that there isn't much of a front as there usually is.

On another note, may I have my character be a former Kasrkin Squad member? I did not read anything about them being disallowed but still wanted to ask, if not may I at least have the armor the Kasrkin Soldiers have, or just the helmet even... I just love the design of the Kasrkin's.

Kasrkin are elite forces of the Imperial Guard; think of them as the SAS (or whatever the US equivalent is) only even more so, given that they're selected during childhood for their performance. So I'm afraid they don't fit in with what this game is about. We're going for ordinary soldiers going up against the odds and winning (or dying gloriously, this is the Imperial Guard after all), not super-elite badass types. That's what the Space Marines are for.

And the bit about Sisters of Battle was largely just me having a laugh, but they're a separate entity of the Imperium entirely; they might fight alongside the Guard, but they're not part of it. The Emperor likes them way more. You can tell by the fact that they have boltguns.

More specifically, Kasrkin are the Cadian's best. A Cadian wouldn't be in the Elysian Guard :p

The Adepta Sororitas are also not the backbone of the medical system, the Guard have their own doctors and medics :p

I'm gonna bloe the top off this shindig. >8}

Oh, and what Kadaeux said too. Think I was getting Kasrkin mixed up with Storm Troopers.

DAMNIT CERU! I was working on a Demo-man!

/me tears up his character sheet and starts from scratch
