Now that we made it...

His hand slid back behind him and squeezed Sam's hand, temporarily. Taking a deep breath, Jake was off again. His quickness was rather....quick, frankly. Soon enough he was about halfway towards that original office building. Looking left and right, there was nothing that was threat. Though, tumbleweeds can be hazardous.

Sam looked down at her hand for a second as she felt him reached out and squeeze it. She smiled at him and let him take off, watching from the SUV as he took off across the ground. He made it to the office building safely. She let out a sigh of relief and then waited for him to signal her across to join him.

A shimmer of light reflected off the little mirror he used to signal Sam. As he waiting for her, Jake went up a floor. The scope was pulled out for another look. So far nothing was in sight. So far everything was going off without a hitch. Back tracking, Jake checked to see how far Sam was from the building. Hopefully, no one had a fix on them.

Sam caught the glimmer of light and was quick to get going. The moved from behind the SUV and towards the building where Jake was, making sure to stay hidden and move as quickly as she was able too. It didn't take her too long to get there and as she arrived Jake was coming down from the level above. She was panting a bit as she looked at him, smiling slightly before she motioned to the outside.

"See anything?" She asked him quietly.

Jake shook his head.

"Nope and I certainly don't plan to. How are you doing? Need a rest?" he asked offering a small bottle of water.

He began thinking a few moved ahead. The second floor look out already gave him a good route to travel. Though, he didn't know if she would be safe. Jake would still be able to protect but Sam would not be within an arms' reach.

"How do you feel about splitting up until we get to the shop?"

Sam smiled a bit but shook her head, taking the small water bottle and having a sip before giving it back to him.

"I am fine...I'm just not used to running like this, usually I have fear and adrenalin pushing me." She joked before she gave him a curious look at his next question.

She didn't think there was anything wrong with splitting up but she wondered why he was thinking of doing it. There didn't seem to be anyone around at all, but a small bit of nervousness filled her at the idea of not being close to him. What if something did happen? Would she be safe? Would she be able to help him if he was the target? She'd hate to see anything happen to Jake...She had to admit she had grown to like his company.

"Well...Do you think we should?"

The bottle jiggled as it hit the bottom of the pants pocket. Her question was well warranted. Separating did add a danger factor that didn't need to be there. With a wave of his hand, he dismissed the idea mentally.

"Forget it. Too risky. I would be too lonely." he declared

Jake chuckled and picked up Alex. Wandering over, he checked the road again. Hopefully, this clearance will keep up. Though, it might be a different stroy for getting back.

Sam nodded her head in agreement as he threw that idea out the window. She didn't want any pointless risk getting in their way or possibly hurting either one of them. She smiled a little though when he said he would be lonely, a small part agreeing with him. She waited as she checked the path again, her hands tight on her rifle as she waited for the signal to move again.

Jake motioned her to follow. Buildings were bare when they went through them. Store after store was ransacked in one way or another. Some of them even had the smell of bodies in them. Though, he had no intention of seeing where the bodies were.

Moments passed and there was no sign of trouble. The gun shop was in sight, as Jake stopped within a tool shop. Checking his sights, it was clear of any threats. Looking slightly left, he made sure Sam was next to him.

"Almost there. No one has spotted us." he whispered

Sam followed Jake faithfully, putting her life in his hands. Her eyes wandered as they traveled through the town, passing empty office building and destroyed shops. Some places even smelt like dead bodies, though thankfully they just moved right past those. When they arrived at the tool shop, Sam sat and caught her breath, it was hard trying to keep up to Jake's pace, he was obviously more used to this than she was. When he spoke she looked to him and nodded her head a bit.

"Good...Hopefully it will be the same way on the trip back." She said softly to him.

"Take a quick break, I want to make sure we aren't panting before we make a final push. Plus, I want to see if there are any tools we can use."

Getting up, Jake went to look for anything useful. It mostly has been cleaned of the non-electric tools. Only a few mostly useless small wretches were in plain sight. With his foot, he moved things around.

"Oh, this might good." he declared

Going all the way to the back, there are fresh kits with tools. They never even looked used. The shine was so crisp that, Jake squinted hard. Were these more replaced items? These rebuilding ninja certainly can get around and are very resourceful.

Sam nodded and took a seat on the ground, relaxing a bit as she caught her breath. She glanced around at the tool shop quietly as Jake walked off, her eyes looking over all the old and now useless electrical tools. She couldn't help but wonder what they would do now, the both of them no working together to try and find other people. She looked towards Jake though when he seemed to find something, quickly moving to her feet to join him. As she walked over she say the new tool kits and instantly understood.

"These people are getting everywhere...aren't they?" She said softly as she glanced at him. "First food and now tools, what next?"

Jake looked off into the distance. He actually was thinking what could be next. For some reason his first thought was a healthier version of fast food. Things that helpful to a person's health would be served. Everyone would be able to lead long lives.

"They could call it Vitameals." he said with a smile.

Shaking his head, he realized how stupid he might look. Either way, these tools will come in handy. He duct taped a kit to his back.

Sam looked to him and giggled a bit, shaking her head before she turned to look back out the window and towards the shop. They were so close, and all they had to do now as actually get to the shop and find some guns. She turned back to him, noticing the tool kit now taped to his back and motioned towards the exit.

"Well, are you ready?" She asked him

Jake nodded and started to make his way to the shop. It looked even more ransacked, on the outside, as the costcos. Foliage and metal were everywhere. At least there was not any danger this time. The store looked fairly bare from the outside.

"Let's hope this is not a waste." he whispered

He turned to signal Sam to follow.

Sam waited in the tool shop quietly, watching Jake make his way across the street. The shop looked pretty bad on the outside so she wasn't so certain about the inside. Hopefully they'd find something useable. At this point she'd take anything they could get. When he signaled to moved she quickly darted across the street, doing her best to avoid turned over mail boxes and dented trash cans. She soon entered the building and looked around quietly before looking to Jake.

"So...What are we looking for?" She asked him.

"Anything that can fire something and destroy potential threats. Though I am somehow surprised that the gun store is more bare than the tool shop."

It was a foreign concept that people would rather have violence than rebuilding a lost world. People could survive easier with a well built protected shelter with a few guns, as apposed to an overstocked arsenal and a crappy hut. There wasn't even a bullet in sight. He started to job up and down aisles. All there seemed to be there was ripped and empty ammunition boxes along with random spots of dry blood. A gun store was bound to have blood, whether it was accidental or otherwise.

"Sam see if you can find anything useful, behind the counter." he declared.

Sam nodded her head slowly as she started to look around the shop, slipping through some aisles as she looked for something that could be of use. She didn't see much so when he told her to check behind the counters she nodded her head and did just that. She hopped over them skillfully, landing on the other side with ease. There wasn't much, but there was something.

"It looks like some ammo is back here as well, though...I don't know if its the right kind..." She said as she looked over the old boxes.

Jake made his way over. Climbing over, he feet caught and his fall was almost absolute. Thankfully, he caught himself and looked into the boxes. There wasn't much ammo, but what was in there...was what they needed.

"Should be something for your shotgun, in here." he pointed to the box on the left.

Putting the boxes on the counter, he notices a little blue button. It was probably an alarm. So he decided against touching it.

Sam smiled a bit as Jake confirmed that she had found useable ammo. Her hand reached out and grabbed the box he motioned to, finding that it contained a decent about of bullets for her rifle. They would certainly come in handy for her. She took them all and shoved them into her pocket, knowing that the box would just make them complicated to carry when it wasn't completely full. However, she did noticed a small blue button but she did not touch it, knowing her luck it would do something bad to them.

"Alright, anything else we should grab while we are here?" She asked him softly.
