November Write-a-Thon

NaNoWriMo has had its fair share of controversies lately, but that doesn't mean we can't do our own version of the challenge. Push yourself to the limits this month and join the November Write-a-Thon!

Set your own writing goals—whether it's a page a day, 5k words a week, or two short stories in November—and post them here! Keep us updated on your progress to stay accountable, and let us know how you fare by the end of the month. If you don't reach your goals, that's fine too. Any progress is progress!

I want to finish writing my slow burn romance by the end of the month.

I'm already halfway through my target; I just need another 40-50k!

I don't know if it counts, but I'm going to aim for forty posts this month. This is a bit ambitious for me (I know that's a rookie number for some people, but I've only surpassed that goal twice since I started counting my monthly posts two years ago), and I'm going to try to do it anyway. Anything beyond that will be an extra treat.

My goals are to catch up with any ongoing roleplays I have, then write at least one short story this month! Gotta trade off with studying for a certification exam in December.

Goal is to finally finish my comic script draft… attempt number 4

I'm picking up an old project and hopefully finishing it this month! Not much to go, but it takes a lot out of me so it's one of my tougher projects. I wrote 1,950 words yesterday and I'm praying I can keep up the momentum until it's finished!

I have 500-word days, and I have 2000-word days. Most days, I'm somewhere in between. Some days, I do more. But what matters is that we show up everyday to write, even when it's hard! It all adds up eventually.

Woo! We're halfway there, folks!

How's everybody's projects coming along? Are you still working on them? Or do I need to whip a few people into shape?

I'm really enjoying this silent competition we're having on Trackbear right now. (Btw, who the heck is pinkydash, suddenly dashing in and taking the #1 spot )

But you're all doing really well and making progress, no matter how much you've written or where your line is on the leaderboard. Whatever word count we reach by the end of this is still more than what we would have if we never started.

So keep it up and stay consistent! Just 15 more days to go!

To those who didn't make it, remember that in the process, you learned what works for you as a writer and what didn't. Knowing your habits and pitfalls is still a step in the right direction. :)

I wish I could give everyone trophies; but the best I can do is code. So here's a little something I created for this occasion -- feel free to use it for your character sheets/rp posts/whatever if you feel like it.
