Not in Wonderland (Aryk Jay Ichijou and Damnit Max)

Chris thought for a moment, "just be careful. Don't make loud noises." He waited anxiously for Dee to open the doors, he was a bit sceptical but it was better than finding out what was in the other.

((Thank you!))

Carefully Dee twisted the handle and pushed the door forwards, wincing as it creaked. He stopped moving the door and looked nervously at Chris. Listening carefully Dee waited to see if there was any noise, hoping no one had heard him. After a moment of silence he continued to open the door, it continued to creak as it was pushed open. Dee opened it just enough for them to both slip through. The door opened into a dimly lit stone hallway.

Chris followed him carefully. He nervously looked around a whispered, "where do you think we are?"

"It looks like maybe we're in the basement or lower level of someplace?" He said looking at the lit candles the were along the walls. "At least someplace someone must live if they're this keen on lighting the place." he added. Dee started to walk down the hall, even trying to be extra careful it was a bit difficult to walk silently, his clawed feet tapping against the stone floor. The hallway eventually ended, running into a staircase leading upwards. Dee gave Chris a quick look before starting to climb up the stairs.

Chris silently followed, he couldn't help but be a bit nervous. Within a fee moments of climbing the stairs they start to hear sneezing.
"Not enough pepper!" Said a hoarse mans voice. There was more sneezing.

Dee stopped and internally groaned, he knew immediately who they'd meet at the top of the stairs, he remembered them from the book. The whole written encounter had annoyed him quite a bit when he read it, finding the characters Alice met a bit irritating. Looking back at Chris he whispered "Should we continue?"

Chris looked around, "I don't think we have a choice..." He answered quietly. He slightly continued following the sounds of the sneezing, "we can try to sneak past them." He whispered.

"Hopefully," Dee grumbled as they continued up the stairs, the older one trying as hard as he could to stay silent. Soon they reached the top of the stairs, leading into what looked like a kitchen and dinning area. It was small cramped and crowded and Dee immediately knew they had no hope of sneaking through. A woman sat at a table cradling a bundle of blankets, most likely a baby asleep inside. She was quite ugly, her face reminding Dee of a toad, a wide mouth painted in a gaudy red colored lipstick and her eyes seems to bug out of her wide fat face. She was dressed in a moldy, moth eaten dress which once upon a time was probably quite expensive and elaborate. The man was wearing less extravagant clothing, but were also moldy and moth eaten. The air was spicy with all the pepper the man was pouring into the soup, Dee's nose burning as he tried to hold in a sneeze.

Chris looked at them and slightly cringed, he looked around for any place they could go but so far the only place was a door on the other side of the room.
The women sneezed harshly. The man added more pepper, "need more pepper!" He said as the women looked up.
"Do you smell that?
"The pepper?" He asked.
"No." They both stopped and looked around.

Dee grabbed Chris by the shoulder and pulled him back with him into the stairwell. It would be lot harder to escape now because the man and woman are now suspicious of something being wrong. His stomach churned and he felt there may be no other solution than to just come out and face them, even though that was the last thing he wanted to do. The woman got up cradling the bundle of blankets in her arms, he small watery eyes scouring the room.

The man kept his pepper close as he walked around with her. "Ah! Pepper shall draw them out!" He started going around, putting pepper everywhere.

Chris plugged his nose and closed his eyes, he didn't want to be seen. He almost sneezed.

Dee's nose, mouth, and throat burned from the spice but he was able to keep from coughing or sneezing. Maybe they could hold out until the man and woman went to bed and then they could make a break for it. Fed up with not finding anything and wasting all that pepper the man sighed and went back to the soup, his eyes still darting around.

Chris slightly put his face into Dee's chest, he needed to sneeze but he knew he couldn't.
The women looked around, she looked at the possible baby she was holding before sitting down as well.
"Ah...." He was trying to be silent, not knowing why the pepper wasn't settling.

Dee's face drained when he heard Chris trying to suppress a sneeze, he held him closer to his chest hoping that if he does sneeze it'll muffle it. "Hold it in!" he hissed quietly in the other's ear.

Chris started to shake from holding it in, he started go breath into Dee's chest, slightly calming down. When he was calm he looked up at Dee with an expression that said sorry.

Dee nodded down to him as to tell him it was okay. Bending lower to put his lips near Chris's ear and whispered "We can wait until they go to sleep and then sneak out."

Chris nodded and decided to quietly sit down since they didn't know when that would be. For a while it seemed that they would never go to bed and Chris looked at Dee skeptically. He was nearly thinking about just making a run for the door.

Dee wondered if because the time of day never changed in this place if that mean the people from it never get tired. "Want to just make a run for it?" he whispered, watching the two from around the doorway.

Chris looked up at Dee and nodded, "we have to be quick." He whispered back and peered to the people who were still there, doing the exact same thing they have been doing. He stood up and looked at Dee.

Quiet as possible Dee stood up as well, he looked over at Chris and held up three fingers, using them to silently count down. Once he counted down and put down the last finger he sprinted for the front door, flying past the man and woman as they yelled angrily in surprise. He didn't stop running or check his surroundings until he couldn't hear the yelling anymore.
