The ghostly illusion passed through and blood seemed to fall from the body of the whispering boy, just before it vanished, Llerina was good to keep her eyes placed on Jack the entire time, and now in Jacks hand was a thin looking elven curved blade. The mere swing of the weapon lent a ring upon the air, like the sound of bells, or a low whistle. Jack started to pace around her.
“I guess training weapons are off the table now? Good, fighting for one’s existence brings a certain thrill to life.” A smile tugged at her lips as she placed the training arrow back into her quiver. Her gaze turned back to the tricky one, she knew this fight would be hard, that was expected, but she looked forward to it, she loved pushing herself past her limits. She held the bow back up with one hand, aiming it at apprentice, the other hand rested by her side ready to react within a moment’s notice. Though she didn’t join in his strafe her body turned in place to follow his every move.
"A shadowcrafter. This has become more interesting than I originally would have presumed from your tedious form of archery. You are actually a very boring opponent, but I am happily surprised to see you have more than a bow at your disposal, that means I can reveal my hand to you without it being a shut out." Jack chuckled, and smirked to Llerina before starting into a simple jog towards the girl. The jog quickened and soon it turned to a full on sprint, but from which direction. Llerina suddenly found her head spinning, her eyes had a hard time seeing as to which direction the boy was coming from, like a dizzy spell.
Just as her eyes came to focus a swift slash came about aimed at her torso, Jack was a dancer with his sword now and spun to the side, but as her eyes followed the ghostly bladesmen, she found there was nothing to follow, and the second slash came from her diagonal right back side. This one connected, but same as it did the image fell through her and lay bleeding on the ground, when she would choose to look down at the villain she would find only herself staring back with fear in her eyes as if Llerina was the most gruesome monster this ghostly visage had ever seen.
Ller looked down and saw the fear in her own reflection. Fear… She hasn’t felt it, nor seen it on her face for years. She wondered why the reflection stared at her like that, why was it afraid? Her brows furled, lips contorted into a grimace, and her gaze distorted into a glare of rage, though her reflection remained fearful. It brought back memories of her childhood; the torture she went through during her parents’ training, the anxiety of when her best friend went missing, and the fear she felt the moment she saw her lifeless body displayed for the world to see. She let out a furious scream and slammed her feet into the reflection several times, trying to remove it. She rid herself of fear a long time ago, and resorted to anger or determination instead, to have it come back now; she would not stand for that.
Jack appeared to the side of Llerina. and swiftly as he passed by her in her confusion aimed a quick stab at her side torso curving to make the blade slide right under and upward beyond the ribs into the meat. The tip of the blade would stop just shy of Llerina's lungs.
To her surprise she felt pain, which was a relief from the illusion. She jumped away and smirked, pulling the string of her bow back as a black arrow formed, positioned and ready to fire. She released it soaring towards the clown, then flipped back, aimed at the ground in mid air and loosed three more arrows that disappeared into her shadow before her feet planted firmly onto the ground. The apprentice would soon find he had four arrows speeding towards him from each direction.
For Llerina to maneuver out of the way of Jack's blade, it left the harlequin man amused. "Tricky." He taunted, as he stepped back. He wasn't sure exactly what the girl was doing, but he was aware of his surroundings, or so he thought. Seemingly out of nowhere four arrows flanked him from each side. Jacks eyes widened as he moved to step back, and spun his body into an aerial. Three of the arrows missed, but one made it through and nailed him in his lower back knocking the boy to the ground. Jack let out a heaving gasp for air... Blood leaked from the wound. Jack lay on the ground in what appeared to be dire pain.
Llerina watched, the sneer never leaving her face. He was down, but was that really all there was to it? There had to be more, there was no possible way for this boy to be out of the game by a single arrow, Ller knew she was good, but that was a just a bit too easy. She aimed the bow at him and stared.
“Aw come on, I know you’re not done yet. After all that big talk you still owe me an exciting fight.” She pulled the string forming 2 arrows and released them towards him, then pulled it back again and waited cautiously for his reaction.
"you're smart."
A whisper came from just behind her neck, and then Jack placed his Blade against the crease of her forearm where most strength came from to pull a bow and slashed deep enough for her to remember it. The Illusion of Jack shot up and assaulted Llerina, but would simply fall through her. The real threat was behind now, and she had no way to escape.
Jack backed up after having likely successfully disarmed her.His blade held in one hand he smirked. He was still bleeding sure, but the arrow was out of him now, other than the tip which still made his breathing haggard. "This is far from over on my end. But how will you dance without your precious bow Drow?"
Her right arm pulsed with pain as she stood there grimacing at the clown. Her left hand placed pressure on her wound and her eyes moved towards her bow, which laid on the ground a few feet away from her. She wouldn’t be able to use it now, not with her arm injured; she would be limited but not out yet. She let out a piercing whistle that rang through the damp air.
“I do not move to just one dance, you’ve seen for yourself this fact. I’m not through yet.”
A screech could be heard above and, with grace, a large albino falcon began swooping down at Ller’s opponent, pecking and scratching at him with each dive.
Taking advantage of her bird’s presence Ller pointed her bloodied left hand towards the apprentice’s shadow and moved it in a twirling motion as the shadow shot out in an attempt to wrap itself around the man’s ankles. Banshee retreated for the moment, perching on her owner’s shoulder with a threatening cry. Not a second later Ller stomped her foot causing two pillars to fly out from her challenger’s shadow, one aimed at his chest, the other towards the center of his back.
Jack was in battle mode now, and despite the damned bird he was already onto his next move. Focusing his ability just in time for the bird to leave and the shadow to attempt and constrict him, once again his real visage faded away and the clone that now was trapped exploded, but not into anything combustible. Instead sharp light fragments from refracted illusionary light burst out creating a bright and large flash. One that would gain him the advantage. The Bird would fall to the ground dazed. The Shadows would die, and well the Drow would be blinded.
Disabled and Defeated Jack was upon her. His blade glistened witht he color of blood, and he brought his sword won over her, swinging to finish this, without killing her.
The moment of the flash Llerina jolted back and violently covered her eyes as she dropped to the ground. She could feel the light, it felt like it was piercing her skull, clawing and scraping to get in. She wouldn’t even be able to open her eyes for a few moments due to the brightness.
“Damn these eyes.” Ller muttered under her breath as she buried her face deeper into her arms.
She took a deep breath and calmed down, she had a feeling his attack wasn’t through yet.
She was right, she could hear the slightest movement, feel the presence behind her. She waited until the right moment then put all of her strength into her legs, sweeping them around to trip the man, then jumped to her feet and quickly lept back a few times away from him. Her hands still covered her clinched eyes, she still felt the ache within her head, Ller needed to buy time until she was able to see again. She went on the defensive and listened to the noises around her.
Jack tumbled to the ground and only barely caught himself to run out of it. The light was fading now, so his advantage was nearly gone, soon enough the shadows would return, and he wouldn't receive another chance like this. With a full sprint he back hand wielded his Short sword and charged for the drow. She was still slightly offed, and with his illusion creating loud noses now so as to ruin her perceptions he knew he had her! "A little closer" he growled beneath his teeth, but when she finally turned back and faced him, he met her eyes with his own and all sound fell silent around them.
Jack could see her, draped in crimson silk, Sheets that covered her most intimate places. Deep red eyes stared back at him and the slightest quirk of a smile displayed upon her lips. A temptress beckoning as she spoke her native tongue. He could hear it now as if she were a thousand years younger and in that very room. She twirled her beautiful silver hair, and slowly exposed more of herself as she coaxed him.... until... a thin line of blood... trailed over her face. One line became many until her silver turned to crimson... her darkened flesh was pale now, and even the rot of death years of death haunted the soul.
Jack fell face first before Llerina, and his sword fell from his hand.
When the Drow was finally able to open her eyes they connected with her charging opponent. She prepared to dodge, but the most unexpected thing happened; he stopped. Why did he stop? He was just staring at her, why? She was so confused; she didn’t know what to do but to just stand there as well, staring at him with a bewildered look on her face. She would have taken this opportunity to strike him down; this was the slip up she needed to win the fight, but she was still dizzy and her head pounded from the light.
After a moment she watched him drop to the ground and stepped back in shock. Her glances darted from side to side. Is it a trick? An illusion? If so where’s the real one? She looked all around but there was no sign of him. She closed her eyes and concentrated, but she could hear his movements or feel his presence at all. Then that was really him? What happened?
“Hey, you alive over there?” She called, she thought about moving towards him but decided against it, at least until she knew more about what was happening, she didn’t want to be tricked.
Jack recovered quickly enough but the shock was still there... and then the sudden realization that had she wanted... she would have just won the battle. A real enemy would not have stalled, and then what would happen of him? All of the lives he'd lived... would that stop or would he wake up again sometime down the road? Did he want to wake up?
"I am alright, but this match is concluded. were you a different opponent Id already be dead."
“You’re welcome. I’m no monster like some would think; I’m not one to kill for no reason, especially if my opponent is on the same side as me. This was just a training exercise after all.” She gave her usual mischievous smile as she grabbed her bow and placed it over her right shoulder.
“Thank you for the intriguing fight. It was fun, and I learned much from it.” She turned on her heels and waved as she walked away from the training grounds.[/hr]
