No way out

She looked into his eyes when he began to speak a little on the surprise side. For a moment she said nothing. She simply stood up and walked back to the door. Grabbing a bottle of water and handing it to him. "I'm sorry it's hard to smile when.." She shook her head trying not to say to much. "Let's just say it's easier said than done." She watched his face and gave the smile another chance. She thought that the first one was still better. This boy had no idea what he had gotten himself into. At least she didn't have to torture him at least not yet. She bit her lip before she began to talk again. "I have some questions that I wanted to ask you." She said glancing at the clock that hung high on the wall. She had about fifteen minutes before she would have to inject him with the needle again. "I'll ask you a question and to make it fair you can ask me in return. My first question is do you have any other family or friends other than your parents?" She had to know these things so she could report them back to her boss.

Mason took the bottle of water and started drinking it quickly, then slowed down to leave a little left over. "None. My friends had moved away recently, and I've been trying to make new ones." He answered and looked at the fruit she got him, quickly snatching them up and eating it. Mason didn't feel the need to answer it in more detail. Then he looked back at the girl, remembering he still had no idea what her name is. "My turn. What is your name? I haven't learned yours yet."

She smiled this time more warmly. "My name is Julia." She glanced at the clock once again. Ten minuets left. She gave a sigh and turned her head to the ceiling slowly starting to drift off in a daze. "Do you truly not remember anything that happened to you?" She asked still staring at the ceiling. She slowly began to move from her spot. Heading to the table that laid in front of the door. She grabbed a needle full of green liquid. The red needle was hid in her pants leg. That was the past thing she wanted him to see. She walked back over to him and held the needle in the air. "Dont worry this one won't hurt. It will bring you back your memory. That is if you dont remember." She kept her distance from him. Even though he was chained he was still able to move the needle from her hand if she got close enough. "So back to the question. Do you remember?"

Mason smiled a little at her name, but didn't say anything as he silently ate the fruit and drank the rest of the water. The first time Julia asked the question he didn't respond, just ate until the food was gone. Then he stretched and sighed, wanting to feel his soft bed again even though he's been gettng a lot of sleep lately, Mason was exhausted. Sleeping on the floor didn't give him any restful sleep. And not being able to see without his glasses was fairly irritating. At least he could make out colors and even the shape if he squinted. A part of him wanted to know what Julia looked like since his blurry vision didn't allow that. Squinting wasn't very effective. Then he snapped himself back to attention when he remembered she asked him a question. "I really don't remember any of it." He answered plainly, hardly any emotion in his voice. Then he looked at her blurry figure with an intense look that didn't quite suit him. "I'd rather not remember either." Mason growled but was soon calm and relaxed again. "What's the point anyway if I'm just going to be tortured and killed?" He sighed to himself, now sounding a little depressed.

Julia didn't give a comment to what he said. She honestly didn't know what to say. She pulled a case from her back pocket. "Here there your contacts. Maybe if you put them on you'll feel...i dont know a little better." She waited for him to put the contacts in. As much as he didn't want to remember she knew he was going to have to. She was going to have to give him this shot. He was going to have to remember how his parents were murdered and why he was brought here. She didn't know all the answers, though she knew he was going to find out soon enough. When he had his contacts in she didn't wait for them to adjust. Quickly she injected the green liquid in his arm. It would cause him to fall asleep. He would wake soon after he would remember everything. Then she would have to inject him with the red liquid. She bit her lip as she waited for what was soon to come. Wondering how he would react to everything once he knew the truth. It wasn't long before she heard a knock on the door. She walked over and opened it revealing her boss. Without any concern he pushed her aside and stared at the boy. He closed the door behind him and waited for him to awake.

Mason didn't hesitate much to take the contacts. One of his biggest pet peves is unable to see clearly. When he didn't have his glasses on he was always irritable. Although it took him a while to get them in since he wasn't used to using contacts. When he finally managed to get them on his eyes he blinked to try to adjust them, but felt a prick in his arm. Mason looked over in time to see the needle before his vision was getting blurred and he passed out on the hard floor. He looked peaceful lying there, yet that wasn't true. Inside his mind he was being forced to remember what happened to his parents, a scene he had forced himself to forget before. His dream was like living a nightmare all over again. Reliving the stupidity he had that day.

It all happened so fast but Mason was remembering every detail now as it came back to him thanks to the shot. Mason had walked up the stoney steps of his parents' two story home. His stomach felt like it was in knots since it seemed too quiet around here. Hesitantly he had walked inside through the antique door, peering inside as the feeling in his stomach got worse. Mason knew there was something wrong here, but he couldn't just turn and walk away from his own home. It was a wonderful old place a few miles out of town, a house that was built generations ago by his family on his mother's side. Most of the house kept it's charm but there are some places that were updated. Such as the appliances and furniture. Even though everything looked normal it didn't feel normal to Mason. Staying as quiet as he could he slipped through the door way and cautiously closed the door behind him. He kept his breathing soft and even as he tried to move without the floorboards creaking or groaning under his steps. Unfortunatly one did and he tensed and froze up on the spot.

Someone else was in the house and heard the small groan of the floorboard, making that someone quickly move to that area. The presence he felt definately wasn't his father or mother since their presences were so familiar. This one screamed stranger, and with a turn on his heel he took a swing at the strange man behind him. His fist connected with the guy's face, but that only succeeded in pissing this intruder off. Mason hesitated a few seconds, which turned out to be bad for him, and while he was taking another swing at man he was forced down on the guy's knee, getting winded. The stranger took a hold of Mason's, dragged him to the kitchen, and threw him to the table. He took blow to the side, the table edge digging into left side. He groaned in a pain, not noticing there were other people in the room.

Mason's mother and father were tied up and held by two other men. "Listen boy. You either come with us or your parents will pay the price." The other man, who looked as if he had a tattoo that said Devil on his forehead walked in, rubbing his face cheek a little. It was the guy he had punched earlier. Devil glared menacingly at Mason. "Although I'd love to just kill them now and send you to the boss already. I can tell you're going to be a pain in the ass." He growled and looked Mason over, a look of disgust coming over his features.

"Devil he punched you?" A chubby guy with too many facial piercings asked the thug of a man. Devil nodded, looking slightly confused for a few seconds then, slowly, a grin formed on his face. "He did, giving us the right to show him what happens if he acts out like that," and with a snap of his fingers the chubby man pushed Mason's father up against the edge of the table. Devil grabbed Mason by the neck and held him in a way so it would be hard to get away. "We don't get to do this that often anymore, and since you and me got off on the wrong foot you get to watch as my friend here rips out your dear old dad's heart." Devil said low enough for Mason to hear, yet everyone seemed to hear him as the three men started to laugh together and his mom and dad went wide eyed just as Mason had, struggling against the ropes that held them tightly.

Piercing guy held Mason's dad down with his left arm against his upper back, taking one of his razor sharp blades out. Because of the struggling the deep cut in his lower back was jagged. Mason instantly felt sick from the smell of blood that was filling the room, wanting to just puke his guts out right there. He wanted to look away as well but his eyes were glued on his dad's face, twisted in agonizing pain. The ropes that kept his screams in loosened and fell so they were around his neck now, letting everyone hear the horrifying and painful screams as the man forced the blade up a little. It was getting to be too much for Mason. The blood was making him far too nauseous and his dad's screams just made Mason pale to a sickening white. Then just as he thought he couldn't handle anymore and that things couldn't get any worse, the man started to dig his hand into the deep cut on his dad's back. Mason became chalk white. His dad looked to be in so much pain that he couldn't even scream anymore. Mr. Chubby was ripping out Mason's father's intestines and organs. Mason could see them coming out of the hole in his back along with blood just pouring out of him like a crimson waterfall. It was a wonder anyone could bleed that much.

Faintly he could hear his mom's muffled screams and sobs from where the other man was holding her back. Mason couldn't make any noise. It was like that part of him was frozen just like the rest of his body. Paralyzed by fear. Then as if to end his father's suffering, the chubby man thrust his arm up, grabbed a hold of his heart, and yanked it out of his body. Mason's father slumped down on the table, still alive for just a few moments more. Then the lights of his eyes fadeded and he was gone. Mason didn't realize he was crying until he felt the satly taste at the corner of his lips. His mom was sobbing uncontrolably as well, all her cries muffled by the rope.

"See? Could have avoided all of that." Devil's voice cut through the fog in Mason's mind, yet he still didn't respond. "You gonna come with us or will we have to do something to your mom next?" He asked, looking down at Mason. All Mason could muster was a weak, "I'll come," to Devil and the guy had a smirk playing on his lips. "You boys finish up here, and I'll bring him to our boss." Everything else was like a blurr. Mason was escorted to a van after his hands being tied behind his back and tossed in the back. He could hear louder screams coming from the house when they were outside, but were silenced faster than his dad's had been. It made Mason flinch and he knew they had killed his mom too. All he wanted to do was forget that day, and he made himself do it.

But now they brought the painful and disgusting memory back to him. Why? To make me suffer more than I have to, that's why. Mason opened his eyes and he was back in torture room, staring at the feet of Julia's boss. He didn't move. He felt too numb to move after he was forced to remember everything he so desperately wanted to forget before.

The boss simply looked down at Mason with a dark grin. "It's nice to see you awake and remembering everything that happened. I'm sure that's not something that you wanted to remember, but you see I needed you to. I need you to remember everything that happened to you so that you would know what to do with the task i'm about to give you." With great speed he grabbed Marcus by his chains and dragged him out the room. He began to walk quickly down the long corridor hallway. Stopping when he reached a large wooden door. For any human this door would be impossible to open. Yet for the boss it was a piece of cake. He opened the door and threw Marcus on the floor. He knew he had caught a mouthful of dirt. There was only one light and it was shining down on the young girl.

Julia woke up with a headache and a slight blurry vision. She could see two faint figures, but she couldn't make them out. With a sigh she lowered her head and closed her eyes. She could hear footsteps moving closer and closer to her. She opened one of her eyes to see the boss and Marcus standing before her.

"I have a deal to make for the two of you." The boss said. "You see i've been working on this creature I created. I say he's unbeatable but my people don't think so. If you Marcus can defeat the beast I will free Julia's parents. I will even give you two a chance to escape. If you don't accept though.." He pulled out a sword that was hanging from his side and pointed it at Julia. "Well lets say you can have her head instead."

Julia knew what the boss was up to and glanced into Marcuses eyes. "Don't do it. It's not worth it. Even if you win my family and I are dead anyway. Don't risk your life for someone you barely know. It's not worth it." She said before the boss slapped her across the face "Silence!"

(Sorry it's so short)

Mason was about to say something but then the boss pulled him away and snapping the chains easily. His head hurt but he was glad that he could at least see now. The place was mostly dark, so Mason couldn't see much. But he did see Julia just before he was thrown to the ground. Coughing up the mouthful of dirt, Mason got to his kness and started spitting out the rest. The boss's proposal made him growl, then he sighed and looked up at him, then over at Julia. "I've got nothing else to lose, but you still have your family." He said, looking back at the man. "I'll do it."

Before she could say anything he was dragged out of the room once again. Where the boss was taking him she could only imagine.

The boss through the kid a cage. "There is a sword and shield on the floor. Good luck." He said in a dark laugh knowing that the boy wouldn't come out alive. With that he pushed a button that sent Marcus up into the battle grounds. When Victor reached his chair he yelled out into the audience. "To all the people hear today. You will watch a young boy with nothing else to lose fight my creation." The crowd went wild as Victor pointed to a door. He watched silently as it was opened and his delicate creation came storming from his cage. "Bring out the prisoner and let the battle begin!" With that he sat down and braced himself for what was soon to come.
(I was going to let you think of what the creature was. If that's ok with you)

Mason made an "oof" noise when he landed on the ground for the second time. Grunting in irritation as he quickly got up, more like stumbling to his feet, he grabbed the sword and sheild and readied himself. He had never used a weapon before so he was already discouraged in the fight. Hearing the creature howl and growl just made his stomach drop. It sounded huge, and the thought of getting eatten crossed his mind. Mason gulped down whatever salvia he had left in his mouth at this point, standing in a defensive position as the creature burst into the arena. It was huge. Nearly ten feet tall, no eyes on what looked like it's head since it had a mouth about half the size of that part with sharp, jagged points sticking down and up from that hole. It reaked, making him sick to his stomach from the smell. It held itself up by its long, thick arms, using its fists instead of its palms. The monster's back sloped down and into a large tail that looked like the flesh was peeling off. Ick. Mason had to cover his mouth to keep the urge to barf from becoming a reality. It had two legs that looked useless because they seemed small and out of place on this monsterous, rust colored creature.

He got ready for it to attack, planning on staying on the defensive.

Julia remained chained in the darkness only imagining the death of Mason. Knowing Victor the monster would be huge. Which might be a good thing in Mason's favor. He would die with less pain. Julia shook her head of the negative thought and tried to pull from the chains. Her wrist were small and she knew if she would try hard enough she could free herself. Slowly she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Relaxing all the muscles in her body. With a deep sigh she began to twist and turn her wrist until she was finally free from the chains. She winced as she rubbed her wrist. A small pain running through them. Quickly she stood and ran for the door trying to pry it open. When it didn't budge she began to bang on it. Even she knew that would do no good. Her family and the only other person she had to talk to would soon be killed in a matter of minutes.

Victor took one look at Mason and let out a roar, turning to the side while making the ground shake and swung its tail at the little human he was to face. Mason didn't react in time and was tossed to the side of the arena with a sickening crack sound, his shield dropping to the ground but he still had a good hold on his sword. In an effort to free himself from being pinned to the wall he thrust the sword into Victor's tail, dragging it down as the creature howled in pain and jerked its meaty tail away from Mason. The battle had barely begun and he was already winded and injured. If he would look himself over already he would see there were bruises forming over his torso and a little on his arms just from that one hit. It seemed to be impossible to beat Victor, yet at least he was able to injure him. Mason grit his teeth as he bent down and picked up his shield to continue fighting.

Julia could hear the growls of the beast. To her surprise they were growls of pain. Could Mason possibly win this. Could she just sit here and wait to find out? Of course she couldn't Julia glanced around trying to find any sign of escape. When she looked up at the ceiling she noticed a hole. It seemed as if it would be big enough for her to get through. With the hole as her only option Julia quickly ran under it. "How am I suppose to get up there?" She thought to herself. She looked around the room only seeing the pole and chains she was tied to. That's when she got an idea. Quickly she kicked at the pool. Back and fourth from one side to another. Until finally the pool came up from the ground. She quickly grabbed it and smiled when she saw the little hook on the bottom. She grabbed the chain that the pole was attached to and started to spin the chain around and around. When she thought she had enough force she threw the pole through the hole. Hoping it would catch onto something. When it did she smiled. She pulled hard on the chains to make sure they were sturdy and started to climb. "I'm on my way Mason." She said quietly to herself.

Victor looked distracted with the new sensation it was feeling. Pain. Mason smirked, feeling a little pride for injuring the so called invincible creature. He kind of liked the feeling of cutting it..Mason shook his head to get the thought out of his head. He wasn't about to turn into something that the boss would love. A willing killer. Ugh, it made him sick that he felt that little bit of satisfaction and good feeling he had from cutting into the creature's flesh and muscle, drawing it's nasty smelling blood. It was the same rust color of it's skin, smelling of rotting flesh. Mason had to cover his mouth to keep from throwing up.

Stop thinking of it! He shouted at himself in his head. With a growl he ran behind Victor, digging his sword into the same wound and was using all his weight to bring it down. Victor was howling and trying to throw him off, just making the cut more jagged and painful. Which was good for Mason if he could keep a hold of the sword. It was so deep in the meaty tail that it was hard to pull out. Victor lifted the tail and smashed it down, pinning Mason to the bloody dirt, slowly crushing him. Mason gasped and groaned, doing his best to cut through Victor's tail..and succeeded. The action made the creature become blind with pain for a while, running around the arena and smashing into the walls at the loss of it's tail. That smirk of satisfaction was back and he felt a laugh coming up. Mason noticed and quickly stopped himself. NO! You aren't going to like it. He hissed to himself in his head, mentally and physically slapping himself.

As he struggled to stand up he noticed the creature's blood was splattered on his body. God, it smelled awful. Strangely he was getting used to it... Bleh.. Just have to keep going and weaken it some more. You can do this Mason...

Julia continued to crawl through the vent until she heard a load roar of pain. The roar was so loud she had to cover her ears as the vent began to shake uncontrollably. When it was over she quickly kicked the vent up and crawled out of it. She couldn't tell exactly what she was in. All she knew is that it was very dark. "Julia " She heard a weak voice say. Her eyes went wide and she quickly turned around to the voice. "Mother?" She said slowly standing to her feet. Trying to brush off the dirt that covered her body. She placed her hands out in front of her as she tried to find the cage that held her mother. Instead of finding the cage she found what seemed like a light. When she turned it the light flickered on and her mother was revealed. She quickly ran to her and immediately started to fiddle with the lock. "Julia hurry. It sounds like the boy fighting that creature is winning. If he wins than he will kill me. Once he kills me they will give him his freedom." Julia looked up at her mother and shook her head. "No that's not true. The master said that if Mason killed the creature you, I, and him would he set free." Her eyes began to water. Would Mason really try to kill her mother?

Just as Victor was getting back into the fight, Mason was hiding behind one of the pillars surrounding the arena. He needed to get his breath and strength back. His body ached badly, making it tempting to look at his wounds, however, he knew that by doing that the pain would be much worse. Mason could hear the creature getting closer as it circled the arena for Mason. He could hear Victor sniffing around. Odd. Why hasn't he found him yet? Upon looking down at his bloody clothes realization dawned on him. It was because he smelled like Victor, and that scent was everywhere. This was an advantage. Suddenly Mason was filled with confidence that he could win this. As long as he stayed quiet then Victor wouldn't know where he was... since it was obvious it couldn't see. This was his chance to free himself, but more importantly, Julia and any of her family that was here with them.

Fueled by those thoughts, Mason crept out from behind the pillar, staring right at Victor's face. But the creature didn't react in the slightest. Mason was right that Victor wouldn't be able to see him. He glanced around to the spectators, all looking as if they were cheering or silently waiting for what was to happen. But there wasn't any noise from them at all. He was quick to figure out that Victor wouldn't be able to focus on the fight with thousands of people cheering. He would attack them and not Mason. Another thing to prove his theory. Alright, let's kill this thing and get it over with... He said in his head, taking one step at a time towards the creature every time it moved its hand so he could mask the sound of his own footstep. It was working. Just a little more and he would be in range for a fatal blow to the skull.. Just a little more and...

Mason threw the shield at its feet to distract Victor and make him look down, giving him the perfect opening. And he took it. He charged at Victor, giving it little time to react before the blade dug into the massive skull. At first Victor was thrashing around, and Mason was clinging to the handle and trying to push it deeper to penetrate Victor's brain. Planting his feet firmly on Victor's skull, Mason took all of his weight and thrust the sword all the way in until it looked as if nothing was left.

And then Victor stopped moving.

Julia was still fiddling with the lock when she heard footsteps. "Grab the mother and the girls little sister. Its time." Julia began to panic and when her mom gently touched her hand she felt the tears run down her eyes. "You must leave. Don't worry about me and your sister we will be ok. You must leave now hurry." Julia continued to shake her head, but soon did was her mother said and ran behind a bunch of old boxes. She tried to fight back the tears as she heard her mom try to talk then out of it. It was then that she thought about something. Where was her sister. She then thought about the other dungeon and quickly headed back into the vent. "I'm coming sis." She said quietly to herself.

Marshall watched as Mason finished off the beast. With a dirty look he began to clap. It was when he heard the voice of the mother that his smile turned into something real. "Well you have won your freedom Marshall, but you have yet to win Julia's and her families. If you wish to sent them free as well you must do one last thing." With that he raised his hands and they brought out Julia's mother. "This woman disobeyed my laws and trued to run along with this little girl." He pointed and a little girl no older than four was thrown next to the mother. They were tied up and their mouths were covered so they couldn't speak. "If you wish to set Julia and her family free you will finish these people off right here right now." With that the master fell silent. Waiting to see what Mason would say.
