Nightbringers
The Eldritch
Abominations
The world is dying. The reliance on technology has nullified all humanity, and desecrated human nature. The world is nearly unsustainable for human life, being over-run with comic entities that seek nothing more than to devour, enslave, and annihilate. Russia is the only remaining human settlement left, and it has been turned into it's own techno-city state, creating a sort of "mega-city".

After an economic collapse, the government has fallen, and this mega-city is now owned by corporations, who rapidly buy, sell and flip different sections of the city.

Their form of law enforcement comes in the shape of privatized security companies, hired out like mercenaries to the highest paying section. They make up their laws as they see fit, and borderline abuse their power. There is only a single "corporation" who has jurisdiction over all sections and blocks of the city, operating with different teams per section; they simply call themselves The Cathedral.

With the rise of Eldritch activity in and around the city-state, The Cathedral was offered a contract to allow their guardians free reign, so long as they obey whatever law is set in place for them. Thee guardians are more than just the human mercenaries running around; they are fairly vampiric in nature, closely resembling the damned souls that once hunted folk lore. With the sun dying out and dimming more and more each day, it has become possible for thee guardians to patrol during daylight.

The main weapon of a guardian is generally a blade of some sort made of pure laser, meant to slice through anything that it come in contact with. Regular bullets don't seem to effect the eldritch beings as well as the blades do, but they do still prove to have some form of effect. The guardians carry at least one side arm by regulation. Despite the regular strengths of a vampire, some still decide to arm themselves further, depending on the threat they are facing. There is no set classifications for Eldritch abominations, which makes it hard to come prepared for the occasion.

These guardians are bred to kill, meant to snuff out and retire even the smallest of threats to the last remaining remnants of the human race. Thee creatures take no measures to attempt to blend in with the civilians of the mega-city, knowing that they don't live a mundane every day life. Instead of feeding the machine, The Cathedral's greatest soldiers protect the machine, and all of the resources that contribute to rebuilding mankind.

But where did these beings come from?

Nobody knows the origins behind the Guardians, or their true purpose in life. Some believe that they are the next step in evolution. Others believe that they are cosmic entities sent to infiltrate the last of the humans and destroy them. Some even worship these vampire guardians as gods in small circles around the state. It is one of the last few remaining questions that lack answers in life.

The Plot;
The First Volume of the Nightbringers Saga
It began as a regular day, nothing had seemed out of the ordinary until the first flicker occurred. Daylight turned to night in the blink of an eye, with only the most minimal, dim light from the sun. It was as if someone had flicked a cosmic light switch and caused the sun to turn off. When the sun turned back on, three minutes later, it was as if a massacre had taken place. Mangled and bloody remains littered the streets, an unseen force killing all that had been outside in the Alpha Block. Whomever wasn't killed, all showed signs of madness.

Naturally, the cathedral was the first to be alerted of the slaughter that took place in Alpha Block. After further investigating a strange obelisk that tore through the center of Alpha Block, the guardians are dispatched to travel outside of the city to track down the possible source of the first flicker, before another flicker can occur. It is rumored, as they have learned in the obelisk, that there are several other monolithic structures that will lead them to the source of the flickers

The guardians will meet enemies beyond their own comprehension, those who never made it to the city-state, and answers to the question of where they truly came from in this mysterious, neo-noir action/horror tale.
