Sugarcube

  • "Cubes of Pure Sugar."

    Name: Juniper

Appearance: Long flamingo pink hair that's curly at it's ends. Bangs are tied back, and a pair of small, black horns peek out from rosy strands. Short in stature, just like the real thing! Still quite pale. A weird mix of pink and light blue-ish purple in her eyes. Occasionally turns yellow, when the right moment... Calls for it- Wears a weird purple body suit that has some pretty um interesting designs. Wears stripped pink arm warmers and stockings along with some sort of black shoes for the most part. Sometimes wears that cape red riding hood would wear, just less red and more... Lavender. Wears these strange rubber-band like bracelets around her wrists. Very important-

Personality: She seems to float above reality most of the time, seeing the world in a fantasy way. She's not always present, but she tries her best to be.

Abilities: I wasn't lying when I said those bracelets are important. They're a defense mechanism- I won't spoil the details for you.~

  • If the world was square, what would it look like? Maybe it would look like this place- A perfect cube divided into three different layers. Level 0.1, Level 0.0, and Level -0.1 respectively- The surface of the cube also being inhabitable-

The middle level is the most safe, the top being the second but most desolate, and the bottom being the most hostile. That level is usually avoided, although sometimes one can accidentally slip through to it, falling in-

All tenants live on Floor 0.0, and therefore is the most active level-

  • --Canarens--

Black like ravens, but small and lovely in song just like canaries. They can mimic voices of passerbys, distorted into echoed and hollow sounding voices, ghastly and whispered. The small ones are relatively harmless, but at the center of their creation is a sinister bird-like creature known as the Oxfowl. Canarens don't live very long, and usually wilt until they are nothing but a pile of feathers once they reach the end of their lives. Canarens have two special blue tailfeathers which can be used to safely get into the nesting area of the Oxfowl if consumed. They are rare to find though, since when a canaren is about to die, it find a very secluded and hard to find/reach spot to do so. This way it may protect the Oxfowl's nest from being intruded. Each pair of blue feathers can be brewn into a potion for consumption. They must never be consumed raw.

Because they are a part of the headspace, many times they whisper strewn about thoughts of the hostess. In a way, they might be considered as the small, miscellaneous inner thoughts of the hostess.

    --Sylphs--

Spirits that linger around Level 0.1, floating about and whispering incoherent words to each other. They are very shy and do not like anyone coming too close to them. They fade out if you become too close to comfort until they fully vanish. Might be the spirits of deceased characters in Sugarcube.

    --Glimmer Lilies--

Gentle blue-ish purple lilies that sprout from the waters. They have a soft glow coming from their beautiful petals. Plucking one up from its roots will cause it to immediately shrivel up and die, turning into ashes. It appears that whatever gives them life comes from between the pebbles underneath the waters. Perhaps it's the pearls that can be found in between the stones.

    --The Zekyr--

The caretaker on Level 0.1 who looks after the lilies that grow around the Nexus. They don't have a gender, as they tend to switch forms between a young girl and a young boy. They wear strange blue ribbons around their neck, ankles, and wrists and do not speak. They do not appear to be autonomous and serve as a caretaker of the Nexus as well as a guardian of it. They have jet black hair and a set of kitsune ears and a tail- Their eyes a bright, golden color.
    B]The Oxfowl

A beast and the creator of the canarens. Although it's nest is full of eggs, the canarens ar not born from those eggs. Instead, they are born from its gut, spitting them out into the open air where they could then fly. It's eggs are large and very spherical. They do not hatch, as they do not contain any living being inside. Instead, the eggs contain a special, shimmery white liquid. This substance can be used to protect against White Eyes. However, it is no simple task to infiltrate the nest and retreat an egg. Firstly, one must obtain two blue canaren feathers and brew them into a potion. This potion will make it so that the person who consumes it can safely get past the nest's protective barrier. Those canaren feathers are hard to come by, and even if you do obtain them and get past the barrier... If the Oxfowl catches you, it may swallow you whole. It is a blind bird, and relies on other senses such as hearing. It would be wise to be as silent as possible around it when attempting to snatch an egg.

    --The Vye--

Vye have long, boney necks that lead to a powerful set of jaws. They sprout from the soil, having no body to move around with. Their eyes can see right through you- They like to beckon prey closer to them with words they know would entice you. If you get too close, you may just lose your head. They only seek out and "punish" those of a wicked nature, those who have done wrong, those with ill intention.
    B]White Eyes

Also knows as "The Grim", White Eyes is an entity made up of negative feelings. Fears, bad thoughts, things like anxiety or whatever else- It feeds off the suffering of the hostess, whispering things that cause overthinking, stress, and panic. It rarely wanders above Level -0.1 since it's hard to prey on the hostess on other levels. It never wanders to Level 0.0 as the tenants will chase it away. It waits for an opportunity to drag her down into the lowest layer of Sugarcube, or for her to fall down into it herself. It has a ram skull for a head, and its body cannot be seen under its long cloak.

The White Eyes always loves telling lies.

It's best to ignore the things it says.

    --The Black Rabbit--

A black little rabbit that hops around Sugarcube. If caught, it will turn to sand in your hands, leaving behind a golden key that can be used to open the domain.

    --The Mother of Dolls--

    Kind, gentle mother dearest.

She watches over the Puppetines with a careful, loving eye. They are her dollies. She enjoys dressing them up and giving them the traits they need. Anyone can become a dolly for mother to love. She plants characteristics into them to replace the ones that were negative. They aren't real, but they still function under her care.

She is very precise when editing her dolls, as they must be perfect, each in their own way.

The way she removes negative traits that have grown inside her Puppetines is by opening them up and taking the negative things out from them, snipping it from the doll with her golden scissors. She'll carefully place the positives inside their belly and sew them back up with a needle and thread.

The mother has 6 arms, all for managing and taking care of her dollies. As there are quite a few of them, it's easier for her to take care of them all when she has more appendages.

    --Puppetines--

Mother's children, her perfect little dolls. They aren't autonomous as they have no free wills of their own but they do have personalities and characteristics all given and edited by The Mother. But in a sense, they are hollow shells with only the purpose of keeping their mother happy. They are given tasks and duties in their little community by The Mother as well.

Some can become defective. Those ones may be dealt with by The Vye.

  • "Honestly..."

    Name: Artemis

Appearance: Tall, relatively well-built (for them lumberjack things he do in da woods lolz), white hair and black eyes, he usually wears flannels (I told you he was a lumberboi) and jeans with boots of some sort. He also likes to wear hoodies or some kind of aesthetic t-shirt. He can sprout angel wings, which he does from time-to -time, mostly for transport.

Personality: He's quite serious and parent-like, although he can be kind of silly when he feels comfortable around people. But to outsiders, he probably seems really stiff and cold as a person. Trust me, he can be nice and warm when you get to know him-

Abilities: Can dance, can fly (hence wings), skilled shooter- He has very good aim with a shotgun. (Hah, get it? He's an angel with a shotgun- Ahahahaaaaaaaa I'll see myself out now...)

  • "I am one with the sea~"

    Name: Moka

Appearance: Long, flowing light blue hair with coral tinted tips- She ties her hair usually in low pigtails, the locks of hair cascading over her small, frail shoulders. She's short, shorter than the host Juniper even- Her eyes are as deep blue as the ocean, and she has a set of seashells that resemble horns on her head- She wears a lot of light, fluffy clothes. She usually can be seen wearing a beach blouse along with a pair of puffy short pants and a red-riding hood cape that's in a shade of coral. She likes a lot of sea/beach themed things, and sometimes can be seen wearing beach themed stockings along with her usual wear. She's on the pale-ish side despite living on a beach-

Personality: Moka is quite bubbly, although there seems to be something underneath the surface of her character... Even the most still waters have things that lurk just beneath the waves.

Abilities: Can bend water to her will, and is quite good at it too-

  • "Ay famiola~"

    Name: Florian

Appearance: Oh boy. Well. Florian tends to change their appearance quite often. Florian has no concept of gender, and likes to mess with it a lot, especially since they are intersex- They don't care if they are referred to as a he or a she. Sometimes Florian looks more masculine and other times they like to take on a more feminine form. Oh, and Florian's also a furry. Eh, they make fun of themselves for being one. Florian is a white goat, sort of reminds me of a bad undertale OC- That weirdly turned out right in the end. Florian's usual look though is kind of emo in style- Black hair, usually black skinny jeans, crop top hoodies-

Personality: Florian is what most would call a party animal. They are loud and boisterous, and pretty friendly with whoever they interact with unless that person is rude or not understanding and kind to other people. Florian tends to argue a lot with Artemis because he many times can't understand the emotions of others.

    Abilities: Slight shape shifting.

  • "I'd honestly rather eat a lemon than have to do this..."

    Name: Zachary

Appearance: Shorter male, quite young and a bit beaten up, messy brown hair which he usually wears up in a ponytail. Usually wears baggy hoodies and some sort of sweatpants.

Personality: Shy, friendly, polite, quiet, understanding, caring.

    Abilities: None thus far.

  • "For fucks sake."

    Name: Coal

Appearance: Medium-length brown hair, he's a decently tall dude. He usually wears pretty casual clothes, but tries to make it aesthetically pleasing non-the-less. He wears usually dark black or gray-ish pants with his outfits. He looks pretty tired and grumpy most of he time.

Personality: He's an angry one, trust me, he won't be afraid to tell you off if you piss him off enough. He will go all out on you if you push him to that point, and it ain't pretty either-

    Abilities: Can cook.

Oh boy, time to get back into rping after a three year hiatus ///sounds of fire and explosions

Caleb
"Never got used to people."

.

Caleb woke up with a start, falling forward in the clutches of a shock-inertia that rolled his body over onto itself.

His hands flew up to cup his arms back into his aching torso, and the young man held himself in a panicked, vice-like grip. His sensation-centers slowly came to the conclusion that his hands were the only soft, real-like thing there. Wrapped around the mid-points of his arms, they anchored him for a heavy moment of realization.
Seated on a hard pire of pure cold, Caleb could feel the backs of his thighs tremble against a flat, featureless ground. He could only hear the soft whispers of his heavy breathing echoing throughout the blank space. Nothing more.

It felt like chilled plastic, and it almost instantly tore the warmth away from his skin, and the sudden, isolating silence tore a pang of loneliness through his mind.

Almost blinded - just almost, he blinked and blinked until the saltwater cleared from his dark eyes. He thought this would clear all the paint-spill-white he could see, but...

No, everything was still white.

Just white. There was no horizon, but his sense of gravity filled in the gaps about where exactly was up, and where was down. Kind of. But, it was still hard to see - his eyes screamed, a lot like after going outside, mid-day, right after the sky drops a foot of snow on an uprepared porch. He sat there, an unsteady frown building on his lip. Oh, that thought came with the heavy, wonderful burden of family dinners - steaming plates of buttery potatoes and chicken, warm stoves in the winter, and a thick, weighty longing. His stomach rumbled loudly, startling him. Tender flecks of turkey, or chicken, covered in crispy honey-gold skin, dripping in savory, smooth gravy. Oh man... Caleb was starving. And funny enough, that was the feeling that ushered him to his feet.

Where... Was he? Caleb turned his gaze up, then down, then left - and stopped with an odd, uncanny feeling when he noticed two objects right beside him.

A silver spoon, and a small, blue lily.

Confused, he reached out towards the pale blue plant, gently caressing one of the petals.

And that was when the ground opened under his unsteady feet, and swallowed him whole.

Turtle
"Milk and Honey and Childhood Dreams."

.

It came in waves of scent and color, the world around her turning on its head.

Her eyes were shut tight as the sensation of falling overtook her entire body, air pushed past every limb, or was it water? It felt oddly heavy, but soothing on her skin. Either way, it didn't matter what it was in this moment. All that mattered was that she was one with the world, and the world was one with her. She could feel everything. Every breath of air, every bit of grain that rolled across the lands, every drop of water that nourished the plains, and every blade of grass that caressed the world so lovingly. She took in a deep breath of her own, taking in every single sensation she could feel to the core of her soul.

Then suddenly, something in the atmosphere changed. Something was different. She could sense it, something new had entered. It was... Alive. Living. Breathing. But it didn't seem to be moving. It was still alive, but it seemed unconscious. It hit the ground with a thud, it rolled over, then stopped. Her breath hitched, a sense of panic and worry coming over her, and a pair of bright multicolored eyes flew open.

Her hands slowly reached out into the empty space in front of her, as if trying to grab something invisible that was there. Palms turned up, she blew air across her hand and created stardust the scattered out into the empty space. She whispered after the particles, commanding them-

"Please find out who it is and make sure they're safe, Zach."

And with that, the dust swirled around and went off in search of the one whose name was uttered by her.

NO UUUUUUUU

Oh god I rolled a 6/6 for the fall. G'night my sweet prince.

No worries, I guess he'll just get knocked out?

Caleb
"Never got used to people."

.

Before he even knew what was happening, Caleb hit the ground with a bone-jarring smack.

He couldn't even determine what exactly he fell on - everything; colors, shapes, and blurry things of indeterminate size - spilled and tumbled out before him in a fraction of a second. It was like looking through a broken, mud-caked kaleidescope. Nothing made sense, not even his own feelings - there was a faint sense of confusion, with a sharper, bitter mixing of fear. But, there also an odd, tired, and static daze muddling it all down. Wind, breathing in a sharp, single wheeze though his dark hair. A blushing of cold, against his arms and knees. Eyes wide, but mouth closed. Silent. Perhaps it was a strange acceptance that drove the grace of his fall.

Caleb felt the ground crack against his legs, and the left side of his body. The feeling didn't register - but the sound of a thud did. Before the rest of him could drop down, the memory of an odd dream resisted the harsh inertia, and thrust straight back and through his gray-matter, like a spear.
A black-haired boy falling off a freeway, dropping into the ground with a sickening thwack - limbs bending like sticks, rotating unnaturally, and a gentle head cracking open like a soft egg. Spilling everything he was right onto the pavement.

His head hit something, and the rest of it all cut off into a sharp dark silence.

I hope my response is okay!

Zach
"Lemon Squeeze."

.

The winds rattled him, as something that sparkled tickled his nose. A brunette haired boy looked down at his palms to see bits of stardust scattered across them.

"Oh no..." He whispered to himself.

Getting up, he grabbed his backpack and head out his front door in a hurry. He knew he had to, otherwise he might not make it in time before something else got to the newcomer first.

He made a sharp turn around the corner, directly into an alleyway where he was out of sight. Yes, he was still living in his old apartment with his mom, and he knew if someone caught him, that could cause problems. No one could know what he was, at least not there. Some day, he had to move in with the others, the tenants that lived in the center of the world.

Zach sighed, pressing his back against a wall and unzipping his backpack to stick an arm into it, rummaging around for something. When he felt something hard and cold hit the tips of his fingers, he let out an "aha!" and brought the object out of his bag and into the light of day. It looked like a tiny, silver globe with no stand and no continents. Just a plain silver ball in the middle of something that held it.

Cupping it in his hands, he blew warm breath onto the metallic object before holding it out at arms length.

"Alright, take me there."

As he said these words, he spun the globe while closing his eyes, and the world began to turn right under his feet-

-----

In only but a few moments, Zach was somewhere else entirely. White. He was surrounded by white and a soft humming. He looked around, and realized he was on a marble platform, surrounded by glowing blue lilies and ankle-deep waters. The floor was made up of tiny, smooth, gray pebbles and white pearls. He was at the Nexus.

Then he noticed the other presence and immediately twirled around to see a young man laying motionless on the same marble where Zach was standing. He quickly got on his knees and laid the boy onto his back, shaking him a bit, trying to wake him.

"Gah... Come on...! Hey, can you hear me? Crap, you look like you took quite a fall... I-I'll get you patched up, just hang in there!"

Twisting his body around to grab something else out of his backpack, Zach brought out bandages and ointment of sorts to wrap the newcomer in. He seemed... Familiar. He didn't look like anyone he knew, but he had the same aura as someone he knew. He could almost swear that felt like the same person, but that was silly, right? After all, he didn't know this guy's name yet... How could he possibly know what kind of person he was?

He shook his head to get the thought to leave his mind, and quickly began bandaging the fallen man.
