Her father is abusive and her mother drinks and is abusive to. She always wear long sleeves and pants to hide her bruises and scars. Recently because of the pain she has been eating alone and not been around her friends. Then she doesn't show at school and one boy (your character) come to her home to find out why she isn't at shchool and has notice her behavior changing.
