Moving to the door, Yumi's right hand moved forward to the doorknob. There were some faint sounds at the other side of the door that caused her to halt. Staying silent as standing still, Yumi listened to what could possibly transpire behind the door. Slowly she would twist the knob, allowing her to push the door open. At the same time, she would let chakra fluctuate and mould at her left hand, a soft purple colour reflecting in the light.
Pushing the door open to the right, her eyes narrowed and moved to the left. The deadly song of steel swiftly moving through the air rang but would come to a crashing halt.

Her hands slowly grapped the blade as the faint purple reflection showed some cracks. Tightening her grip, Yumi would deliver a quick kick into the guard's stomach. He released his short blade as one hand went to his abodemen, lunging a bit forwards. Holding the blade of the short sword in a firm grip, Yumi would slam the pommel against the back of the man's head. As the guard fell down on the ground, Yumi left out a soft sigh.

Purple dust seemed to peel off as she would release the hard and cracked crystal around her hand on the man. Her gaze moved to an older man that stared at her from behind a desk. He was dressed in attire that seemed quite expensive, giving away that he was her target.
Taking a step forwards, Yumi used her right hand to close the door behind her. All the while the man started to mumble things as he shut his eyes closed. A prayer perhaps?

Taking a few steps forward, the young woman waited for a moment. The man, however, kept on mumbling. His eyes still shut. Losing her patience, Yumi would clench one of her hands into a fist. Taking two more steps, she would slam her fist on the desk.

"Gods protect!" The man's eyes shot open as he took a step back. The wall preventing him from taking another step. "What do you want from me? Mon--"

"If I wanted that, you would have been dead," Yumi replied with a casual tone. She would straighten her back, gesturing to the man's chair behind the desk. "Sit down, please."

The instruction seemed to confuse the man as he stared for a moment at the unknown young woman. Slowly taking place upon the seat, he watched how Yumi would walk around the desk. Sitting near the man, on the desk. "Please, I got a wife a--"

She raised her right hand and slightly shook her head, causing the man to become silent. Crossing her legs, Yumi remained silent for a second. Observing the man, she could pick out that he was nervous. Scared about what she would do or want.
"I want to talk."
"Talk?"

She slowly nodded. "You and I are going to talk. Briefly. I am not going to harm you and nor will any harm come to your family or possessions. As long as you cooperate, I will not break my word." She explained. This seemed to calm the man, slightly. He nodded, placing emphasis that he understood her clearly. Then his eyes lighted up as if he recognised something.

"Oh by the gods, did he send you? I promised him that I would deliver the wealth soon! I ---" The man sounded much more desperate, at the ready to continue to ramble. But Yumi raised her right hand to man him to silence. Her own brain started to crack and work fully on what the man had said.

"Mhm. So, why is it taking you so long?" She decided to ask, playing the game along. The question seemed to cause the man to sweat and refuse to make eye contact with her.

"The guards aren't as stupid as they seem. For my men to carry the goods without knowing what it contains to the location, I will need time and planning." He explained. "But I swear, by the gods, it will be done."

"Oh? By your gods?" Yumi asked as she would pull a knife, in a slow fashion. This threatening gesture seemed to cause the man to gasp for air as if she already had stabbed him in the neck. He slightly shook, his hands held up in front of his chest.

"No, no, no! I promised I would convert! The goods are at the ready! I-I just need time." He explained, his voice becoming hoarse.

Yumi would flip the knife and sheath it back. "Good. Do you still remember where the goods need to be taken?" The man nodded quickly. "Well, where then? I don't want to go back and then that you have actually forgotten."

"The Hrandor plaza! Near the temple of Audhild!" The man quickly recited, his eyes shooting to where she had sheathed her knife. "I promise you, on my life, that I will get it done."

"Good." Dropping from the table, she would reach out to the man's cheek. The gesture being slow as she caressed his cheek with her gloved hand. "And thank you," Patting the man's cheek, she would nod towards him. "Make sure you are on time. You remember the time, right?"

"M-Midnight!"
"Good. It is a date." Yumi replied, in a most sarcastic fashion.

She had left the villa. Letting her crystal that kept the two guards outside the room crumble to mere dust. Exiting the building, she would move to the streets. Walking down, she moved her right hand to her right ear. Pressing the communicator, Yumi inserted a tiny bit of chakra to activate the device.

"I am out. Seems we got ourselves a date."

"Oeh, here is to hoping that we will get some good action. We could use it.~"
"Roger."
"Yes ma'am."
"We probably should wear something nice. Hey Rookie, are you also green when it comes to romances?~
"Phoenix, can you not?"
"Focus on getting yourself to the rally point. All of you. Strife out."

The light of day started to grow dim as the hours ticked away. Around 6 or 7 PM, it already seemed as if it was night. The moon already clear in the sky as if it was more than eager to take the job over from the sun to illuminate the world. The time between the quick investigation on their lead and the 'date' between their target and the zealots was being used by the Ghost ANBU to prepare. Weapons would be sharpened and pouches were arranged for the anticipated clash. Yumi had send Marker also out to gather more information on their lead target.

What they knew already was that the man's name was Aldi, a rich merchant that had some sway in the local politics. With the Framí province being dominated by the Chonobi culture, there wasn't much discontent about the imperial crown. In fact, many were quite happy about it as it turned out that the province gained more development and attention than it had gained before. Yumi had never interested herself in the differences between religion, regions or cultures. But now it was important. For it was unclear why this Aldi had decided to side with the zealots. What did he hope to gain? And more importantly, what were the Zealots up to in this part of the Empire?

Hopefully, those questions would be answered after tonight. Sharpening her blade, Yumi would overhear the conversation between Phoenix and Rookie.
"Are you nervous?" The tall young woman asked as she would arrange her pouches before donning them at her side. A friendly smile was portrayed on her lips.

"No. I am eager to get my blood running." Rookie replied back. He was taking care of his knives. With a rather smooth and fast gesture, he spinned the knife and would sheath it as if it was nothing. "You sure that fans will help a lot?" He asked, his eyebrows perking up.

"Mhm. Don't worry. I used to use a long blade. But I will stick to my fans. I gave one of my original fans to the Empress." Phoenix replied, her smile widening. "Even showed her how to use it. The basics that is."

"Sure," Rookie said, the way how he said it making it clear that he didn't believe her. "You are telling me that the Empress herself was once trained by you? Please don't joke that much around."

"I swear it. You could ask herself. But that means I have to give up my name. On the other hand," Phoenix shot a look towards Strife. "You know that I was close with her Majesty, right Strife?"

"Mhm."

"I get it that I am not that experienced like you all are. But come on," The tone and expression were enough to show that he was getting annoyed. "The Empress was trained by the best. You are telling me that you knew her and trained her?"

A snicker escaped Phoenix, much to further agitation of Rookie. "Heh, yeah. But with your words, I clearly now should consider myself the best."

Before Rookie was able to respond, Yumi spoke up with a stern voice. "It is time to head out."

The group moved quickly. Marker had scouted the place and reported various positions that they could take in. The large temple at the base of the plaza was quite impressive. There were still some stands standing that were being used by vendors to sell their wares. But at this point, it was quite desolated. There were a few people that crossed the plaza. A group of guards that marched by, a few drunken men and a homeless that seemed to scavenge for anything that had could be eaten or used for his own comfort. But then a small group of men garbed in some protective gear, armed with small arms would make their entrance. Keeping themselves to the side, the group seemed to be in a hurry. The group existed out of seven men. Four of them carrying a small chest as two others formed a protective front and rearguard. The seventh guy being Aldi, who seemed to be slightly annoyed at the slow pace of his men.

"Targets sighted," Marker's voice crackled over the communicator. "Three men from my position."
"Lightly armed and not armoured." Phoenix added.

Yumi nodded, despite that the others would not know or see it from their spread out position. In an alley near the meeting point, she had some view on the approaching group of Aldi but not yet on the other party. It made her wonder why the Zealots had only send three. But that was actually quite beneficial. If they could capture those, then they would be able to figure out where their base of operations was located.

"Strife, there is something off." The usual cheerful tone in Phoenix's voice was absent, taken instead by doubt and nervousity. "Now, I know that this sounds like a bad joke. But one of them is... dead?"

"Dead?" Yumi asked, confused on what Phoenix meant with that.
"Yeah. As in that I only detect chakra. Nothing else. Which is weird. The chakra signature isn't... really alive and flucating as a normal person."

"Great, fucking great." Yumi thought to herself. Considering her options, she was sure that she could leave Rookie and Phoenix to deal with the regular foes. Perhaps she and Marker should take this undead person on? It was likely one of those weird things that had been encountered before.

"Marker. You will be on my six. Phoenix and Rookie. I want you to take out those guards. Lethal force is allowed. If anything, we already have evidence enough that Aldi and his men are committing high treason."

"You got it, ma'am. You ready, Rookie?~"
"Just try to keep up with me."
"Understood, ma'am."

The two groups approached each other, slowly coming to a halt. Aldi gestured to his men to wait. Approaching the three cloaked and hooded men, a small conversation started. Yumi couldn't overhear what they were saying. But that was okay. If anything, Rookie had that covered. Waiting she would remain cloaked in darkness. Her chakra suppressed in case any of those Zealots was a sensor-type.

"Seems they are discussing the plans to move. Requiring more resources. Move will happen in a week from now." Rookie summarised. He was using one of his techniques to listen better to the conversation. The exact mechanics behind this particular technique weren't known to Yumi. But she didn't care for it. It worked and that was she wanted.

"Aldi is talking about our raid. Strife?"
"Execute."

The simple word was followed up by action. Stopping to suppress her chakra, Yumi's eyes narrowed. Her hands would be brought together as she started to weave several handsignals. Placing both hands on the ground, chakra would flow through the earth. Rapidly moving towards Aldi and the three hoodied targets.

[fieldbox=Team Nishi Training, ]
Kirigakure, capital of the Republic of the Water Country.
Training Fields.

A collab between Celestial, Jason and Oetje.

Summary:
Nishi gathers her team for a team test and training. Setting up the bell test, Nishi reverses the usual situation of the bell test. With Claire and Yukimi forced to hold on to the bells, it is Nishi's goal to take the bells.

[spoili]
The field was void of any life. Which was good cause for what Nishi had in mind, they couldn't use any obstructions. Her gloved hands were resting on her hips as the woman went over the training course she had planned for her students. Fair enough, they weren't both to the standards that she wanted to commit the team to anything serious. But in all honesty, it could still happen. For it wasn't going to be her choice what mission the team was going to get.
Considering how the first mission had gone, Nishi wasn't totally disappointed. The major point of today was making sure that they understood various principles as advancing some basics. And luckily, Nishi knew how she could manage to do that.

Briefly, she wondered if the girls would like this kind of training. But if they didn't like harsh training, then they shouldn't have enlisted or allowed themselves to be enlisted in the military.

Yukimi was fairly early to arrive to the training, not that she particularly wanted to be here or anything but it was a good excuse. As she approached, the chuunin wore a much more pleasant expression than previously, one which wasn't entirely forced by her promise to her aunt either. As today's training had made a wonderful excuse to get out of spending time with Betrothed. Any activity that didn't involve that fat pig was good enough for Yukimi.

Once she approached Nishi, the Yuki gave a bow that was pure elegance and grace as one might expect from one of high status. "Goodmorning Sensei. I do believe an apology is in order for my behavior during the mission. The way I acted was unbefitting of a Lady, and certainly a Kunoichi. For that, I do apologize." The Yuki said while bowing her head and hoping that it would be enough for Nishi.

Today was the day the team would train and Claire made sure she was up early. Unlike before she wouldn't be rushing or late. The blonde took no time to make her way to the field and got there only a few minutes after Yukimi. A slight bow and smile as she approached the pair. "Good morning Sensei, good morning Yukimi." She spoke as she straightened up and held her hands together in front of her. Any tension from the first day seemed to be far gone as the three stood there and Claire felt relieved that they wouldn't be fighting all the time.

The first to arrive was Yukimi. The jounin flashed a polite smile and nodded in response back to the chuunin. The apology was a slight surprise, certainly seeing how the Yuki had behaved before. Nishi already had something on the tip of her tongue, wanting to state to the Yuki that she indeed had acted unbefitting of a lady. But then again, they weren't meant to be ladies in the military. The protocol was quite different from the social norms that were expected of a lady. Letting some silence follow Yukimi's words as Nishi certainly didn't find an apology well enough to make it up for the previous behaviour.

But Claire arrived before Nishi decided to speak up. The genin wished them both a good morning. Causing Nishi to once more flash a polite smile and nod, this time towards Claire.
"Good, you both are still on time. Meaning that I don't have to put a penalty on you two." Nishi began, "Today I wanted to get some training done. After all, we aren't part of the flower community or whatsoever. I want you two to get a bit more ready for future missions. I am certain you both have heard about a particular bell test?"
Producing two small bells from her pocket, each bell was stringed up at a small cord.
"Each for one of you."

Throwing a bell up towards each one of them, Nishi placed her hands on her hips.
"The goal is to prevent me from getting the bells. You have a few minutes to prepare yourself." The jounin stated before she would fall apart in a small puddle of water, revealing it was a water clone.

As the woman spoke she smiled and was glad they would have no penalty. Though as the test was spoken about she caught the bell and Claire looked at the water as it puddled on the ground. Glancing at Yukimi she felt her heart begin to pick up in pace and panic struck her. Of course they had a few minutes to prepare but she was caught off guard by this. "So what exactly should we do? She could be anywhere." The blonde glanced around for any signs of life other than her and the chuunin. Yet all was quiet and not a sound came from anywhere. She had no idea where Nishi was and her ideas to keep the bell away from her were lacking. Traps? No she could easily predict that. If they wanted to keep the bells they would have to work together, it was obvious seeing how their first mission went.

"This is stating the obvious but I think she wants us to work together. If not I don't think we stand a chance keeping these bells away from her." Looking down at the small bell Claire found herself moving it in the air some. The small chiming made it easy to locate and that would be a problem if they planned anything stealthy. "You know she never specified we each had to keep the same bell, what if we swapped them off if one of us gets in trouble? Tossing it might can give one of us a chance to get away and snag it before she does. Of course I imagine one of us having both would be bad so the other would need to swap as well. It would keep her on her toes if she has to chase the bells and us. Like extreme monkey in the middle.

Obviously they were supposed to work together, it would take a moron to not think two team members weren't expected to do that. The Chuunin caught herself before releasing a scathing response to Claire's observation before remembering her promise to her Aunt. "She can make water clones. More than one, and your plan fails." Yukimi said calmly, bearing no emotion in her response as her eyes drifted lazily around the field. "However, that sound will be a problem." She said as she stepped over to the puddle and touched a her boot to it, channeling her chakra to freeze the liquid just in case. "Alright. Let me see your bell for a second." She said, holding out a hand for it. Moments later, after Yukimi had coated both bells in a small amount of water then froze them she handed it back to her teammate. "Now that they're frozen, they won't make noise. Keep it out of sight. If we can force her to not use sight we have a slight advantage. First rule to this situation, however, don't panic." The girl explained as she took a step back and started to mould her chakra.

The cap on her canister opened slightly as she focused on first trying to find the jounin. "Get something ready to defend with. I'll mould my chakra and make two duplicates of the ice crystal. Hopefully then we can use those to throw her off once we see her. I want you to focus on spotting her from a distance. Disturbances in the foliage and such, got it? I'll focus on if she gets closer." The Chuunin explained before lifting her arm to start spraying water from her palm, to both make it easier to see Nishi and make it easier to release her Kekkei Genkai. The Yuki took a calming breath as she continued her work in wetting the field.

In truth, Nishi wasn't too far off. Hiding behind a tree, the jounin waited briefly. The goal of the test was quite easy, so she doubted that the two would go off on their own. Then again, Nishi remembered that she had been wrong before. Weaving various handsignals, the jounin would throw a glance upwards. The dark blanket of clouds didn't change from earlier. But then a drop of water would fall on the woman's cheek. Steadily followed by more rain drops falling over the large area. More so, the rain would start to conceal the jounin.
Once she was entirely invisible due to the rain technique, she considered her next approach. It would be troublesome to have this much water, regardless if it was her chakra, in the vicinity with a Yuki. But despite that field advantage, the chuunin would be forced to deal with Claire. Defending the less experienced kunoichi was, after all vital.
"Let us first see how they react to some disturbance." The jounin thought to herself. Moving with complete silence, the woman started to move from her position. Catching sight of the two students, the jounin would pull out a senbon out of a pouch.
Aiming for a bush, to the right of the clearing where the girl's were standing, Nishi would throw the small and barely noticable object to create a subtle and soft movement in the foliage. Now waiting to see what the genin and chuunin would do as reaction.

Taking the now frozen bell Claire nodded as she listened to Yukimi. Right don't panic and stay calm. Looking around she glanced up as the rain began to fall making it hard for her to see at further distances. When the senbon hit the bush the genin's eyes shifted towards the foliage. Hand ready on her sickle to easily send it flying in case the jounin would ambush from that area. Of course it wouldn't be used to harm Nishi but to keep her at a distance. If she had to guess that was simply a distraction, why would a jounin be so careless to give away her position? "There was movement in that bush but I doubt it was her." Claire kept her voice low as she slipped the bell into a pocket, keeping it hidden like the Yuki said.

Yukimi slowly scanned the area after she finished up wetting down the area around them. As the rain started to fall and obscure her vision, the girl frowned as she knew it would be much more difficult, maybe even not possible, to manipulate that water since it was infused with Nishi's chakra. Hopefully she wasn't actively controlling it, that would be much easier. When Claire mentioned movement, Yukimi's eyes briefly darted in that direction. But deciding to trust the genin, the Yuki focused instead on creating two ice crystals like the bell ones. Then she handed one to Claire. "Guard it like the bell." She said firmly, then went back to scanning the immediate area. With the rain obscuring her vision, Yukimi kept her gaze on the ground, looking at the grass and water around for hints of Nishi's movement. Meanwhile the temperature slowly started to drop as the girl tried to tip the scales in her favor.

Nishi continued to watch. It was somewhat reminding her of previous operations she had been onto. Where it was now simply toying with the chuunin and genin, the jounin had deployed similar tactics into the field to create an opening. Targets that had been more dangerous than her two students combined. Yet, Nishi was well aware that underestimating them could wind up pretty bad for her. Seeing what the two were doing, Nishi considered her approach again. They were attempting to try to trick her while hiding the bells out of sight? Not a bad step.
Silently, Nishi would position herself at the rear of the two. Keeping a comfortable distance, the jounin would pull out a kunai. An explosive tag was wrapped around the handle. Aiming to the side where Yukimi was standing, Nishi would throw the weapon. Moving away from her position, the jounin would form the Seal of Confrontation, letting the tag do its work and create a small explosion behind the genin and chuunin.

Due to the rain the sound of the kunai was silent to Claire. The only give away was the noise it made the second it hit its mark. Glancing over just as it exploded made the genin pull out her sickle to prepare for a follow up as she stepped aside to avoid the radius of the attack. "Okay I think she is toying with us now." The blonde sighed as she took a deep breathe to keep her composure. Once the temperature dropped it made the water even cooler to the touch against her skin, her breath becoming visible but she knew this was part of Yukimi's skills and not Nishi's. It was clear she was heavily at a disadvantage with the rain unlike the other two kunoichi. With the lack of sight, the sound of rain and now the dropped temperature she felt herself losing confidence. "We need to find a way to get her out of hiding, any suggestions?"

The Chuunin's head whipped over towards the sound of the explosion. They needed to know where they were being thrown from. Focusing Yukimi slightly froze some of the puddles around them, careful to ensure minimal sign was given of her actions as she did so. "She needs our bells. Remain vigilant, she may be toying with us but she still needs to come to us. I need you to keep an eye out, and try to force her to move. I can even force a slight defense around us." She said, taking a small step back. Meanwhile she let her gaze drift across the scenery, looking for that little movement. With the water being hardened into ice in some spots, she hoped to see the scratches of thrown projectiles. Figure out where their sensei was hiding. "For us, if she remains hidden all day and we stay out here then we still win. Just need to keep her away from us." Yukimi said firmly, and silently hoped to force the woman to get sloppy.

Observing once more the reaction of the two, Nishi played with the idea to move in. Spotting the frozen puddles, Nishi gained an idea to teach the two a vital lesson. After all, ninjutsu was great and all. But it carried a few risks with it. Weaving a few handsignals, Nishi waited. The rain was formed by her chakra and manipulating it at some range wasn't an impossible feature for them. While the two girls were trying to figure out where Nishi was, a water clone formed behind Yukimi.
Silently, the clone would lean forward before whispering something to the chuunin.
"Boe.~"

"Alright I can send some kunai and shuriken out." Reaching into a pouch she took several shuriken and sent them flying in a spray outwards, one every few feet. A second wave was sent further to her left as the first set reached the foliage in front of her. By the time she was reaching for her third set she glanced over to hear the clone whisper in Yukimi's ear. Claire stared blankly for a moment before she went to elbow the clone. Just from earlier she knew Nishi would create clones and like the chuunin said she had to stay calm. If this wasn't a clone then the woman would be struck in the side, if it was then it would just poof, right? "If she stays hidden all day using her chakra for clones and rain she would eventually run out, right?" The blonde mumbled.

A slight yelp of surprise left the chuunin as the clone snuck up on her, followed by a mere second after a spike of ice ripping up from the ground with the intention of running whoever was behind her through the knee. Whether it was a clone or not, Yukimi cared little for in that moment. Yet as she thought about it, it did make more sense if it were a clone. The chuunin shook her head in response to Claire. "And so will I." The Chuunin said as she turned a much more critical eye towards the surroundings, "New plan. Find where she isn't." The Yuki said calmly, then continued. "And be ready to move."

The water clone was easily dispelled with the elbow and being impaled by the ice spike. Yet, Nishi was certain of it now. They were far from being able to prove a threat for the likes of a jounin. For as the clone would start to fall apart into water, the substance would start to descend down due to gravity. Forming a handsignal, Nishi watched how the water would shape and in a fast pace surrounding both Yukimi and Claire. The water prison in a water clone was quite easy but with the added rain, which was already infused with Nishi's chakra, it was very easy for the woman to extend the size of the prison. To trap both Claire and Yukimi.

As the water clone exploded, Yukimi took a breath and was about to say something to claire when she noticed the water rapidly surrounding herself and Claire. In that same moment she closed her hand into a fist, and the canister on her hip exploded open. Water infused specifically with her chakra shot around her and instantly froze, cutting off the water prison just below Yukimi's shoulders, although some was trapped inside with her. Focusing her chakra, Yukimi started to push back against the prison to break out. Knowing that she would burn quite a bit of her precious chakra in doing so.

As the clone exploded and fell to the ground Claire knew her hunch was right. As the water prison began to form around them she bit her lip, she wasn't expecting this kind of technique from Nishi. When Yukimi stopped the prison for herself it seemed to slow down the process but if she didn't disperse it the pair would be stuck in the prison together. With the added cold, rain and the prison her body temperature was dropping, her breathe now heavily visible as the prison enclosed them more and more. Yukimi may have been fine, as well as Nishi but due to her lack of water nature she was struggling to stay calm. She felt like a sitting duck just waiting to get snagged and she had nothing up her sleeve to even counter any of this. Soon the water was turning into a mixture of ice as well and the freezing shards pushed against her as Yukimi tried to disperse the prison more. "If you keep that up I am going to freeze to death and being hugged by ice is not fun for some of us." Claire groaned.

Watching the progress, Nishi remained invisible for a little bit longer. As expected, neither of them seemed to be aware of trap techniques like the one she just pulled off. She noticed that Yukimi tried to break out but Nishi didn't expect she would exceed. The high pressure would hold. Becoming slowly visible, Nishi stared at the two for a moment. Then she raised her right hand, snapping her fingers.

The water prison would collapse, leaving both Claire and Yukimi fully drenched on the ground. Calmly looking at the two, the jounin spoke up with an even tone. "You," Nishi looked at Claire. "Passed my test."
Her gaze then settled on Yukimi.
"You did not." Nishi didn't add more to the cryptic declaration. A second of silence plagued the field before Nishi continued.
"I hope I don't need to state the purpose of this training exercise. You guys did work at the start. Obviously, it was a bit rigged. You guys aren't ready to face a jounin, if the jounin had his hand and feet binded as well being blinded by impotent rage. I expected more of a chuunin, to take in her surroundings and act upon them. A genin? I can forgive more mistakes from those. But good grace," Nishi didn't hide the disappointment on her features. She wagered that neither of them would properly listen to her words.

"Seems that I will need to take you two back to basics. Get yourself up. Rub your chest if you want to warm up. No use in rubbing your arms or legs, they will take care of themselves." Nishi said as the rain slowly stopped.

Yukimi watched Nishi after she was released from that prison, her gaze nothing but ice cold. When told she failed the the test, the chuunin only grew colder. She did not fail! This woman had it out for her, for whatever reason. At the comment about using her surroundings, Yukimi looked at the completely flat field they were in. Yeah, alot she had to work with huh? Without so much as a word, she recalled the water to her canister as she looked at the field that was thoroughly soaked. Something which she could have very easily used had that situation gone down differently.

Yukimi cared not for her disappointed look, she was above such things. Father had said so, one go his many lessons about her standing compared to the rest of those around her. At the mention of having to take them back to the basics, Yukimi barely stopped herself from rolling her eyes. The not explore facade she had been putting up for her aunt's sake crumbling in the wake of the test thus far. Yukimi simply stood still at the comment about warming up, she was a Yuki. The cold was her home.

She passed? Claire couldn't help but grin as the words ringed in her ears. Though quickly the expression was lost when her teammate had failed. "How could I pass and she didn't? I don't understand." As Nishi explained it made sense but at the same time she felt both her and Yukimi did well. If they were to go back to the basics would that mean they would be training more than going out on missions? The genin looked at the ground as she thought to herself for a moment. So far she seemed to be doing well but how much longer before Nishi would expect more from her? "So what will we be doing now Sensei?" Glancing up at the woman she gave a soft smile, ready for whatever the other would assign for them to do.

"That is because you are a genin. The expectations of a genin are much lower than that of a chuunin." Nishi calmly stated. "When you work together, you ought to watch out for each other. Yukimi's slip when I trapped you both in the water prison showed that she didn't weigh you into her actions. If anything, you could have faced undercooling if she had used even more ice. Perhaps a prime example of why so many people hold a justified disdain for shinobi. Because they think that ninjutsu will just save them from situations, only hurting others in the process."
Nishi felt a bit disappointed. She had hoped that Claire understood it but wouldn't hold it against the genin.

"Right now? You both are going to be set back to the basics. I will not allow us to be send on any missions until the next training. Nor continue what I had in mind for the next." the woman calmly continued.
"Which means for today you are free. Tomorrow, same time and same place." The jounin instructed as she would turn around and start to walk away.

As the jounin walked away, Yukimi's mood only grew more sour as she turned and started storming off on her own. The temperature plummeted in correspondence with her temperament. Pausing after going a few steps, Yukimi forced a false calm over her features, and then a mask of politeness as she turned towards Claire. "Good job today, Claire. Apologies for my mistake, panic and all that. Keep up the good work." She said and made a small, polite smile. Then giving a slight wave she spun and walked off towards the direction of her home. Her thoughts boiling in spite of the cold around her. Of course she had thought of herself, only one person could reliably stand to protect yourself and wouldn't run off and die on you. Yourself. Pushing her thoughts away, she knew that they wouldn't help any with her promise to her aunt. She had to put in an effort, and slowly let out a sigh as she started running through the training again in her head to see how she could improve. Although the ghost of a single thought ran through the back of her mind about the team before she could push it away completely.

"Am I ready to be hurt like that again?"

As Nishi explained she understood the point given. Being on a team meant considering each other but one should protect themselves as well right? Before she could speak up the woman had told them about their plans and headed off. So more training tomorrow. Looking over at Yukimi she began to storm off and Claire smiled back and shook her head. "Don't worry about it." She reassured before she was left alone on the field. Could they have done better if she did more? After all most of the work was done by Yukimi. She couldn't manipulate water nor ice. And that meant they would need to work harder to be a team and cooperate. She didn't blame the Yuki for protecting herself and she couldn't blame Nishi's disappointment. Taking a deep breathe she began her trek back home, thinking on how she could improve to help both Yukimi and Nishi and become a stronger shinobi.

[Fieldbox=Declaring War! - Part 1, lightgreen]
Amegakure, the capital of the Rain Province of the Empire of Akino.
Team Etsu.

A collab between Nim, Celestial, Alice, Zane and Oetje.

Summary:
Etsu rallies her team. They aren't entirely sure what the purpose of the rallying is. But then Etsu reveals her ambitious goal that will get some heat on them. From this collab on, Team Etsu declares full-on war on the Insurgents of Soru and their Zealot allies. On the corruption in the Police corps within Amegakure. And against the Fang operatives that sneak into the country, alongside the stream of refugees from the west!

[spoili]
They all had gathered. And not too late as well. The first to arrive was Kitana. The chuunin seemed nervous and Etsu didn't hide her own amusement at the girl's nervosity.
"As you were," Etsu joked as if they were mobilised in a mobilised brigade.
The second to arrive was Kuni. The girl earned a nod from Etsu as the woman replied back.
"Yoshikuni," the woman said as she would keep using the girl's full name.
The third person that arrived was the newcomer. Etsu didn't hide her own curiosity but would let the girl approach them. As the girl spoke, Etsu noticed Rini, who seemed to politely wait before announcing herself.

"Megumi Omari," Etsu shot a look at the other girls of the team, "From today she will strengthen the team. Also, at ease, Rini." The woman told Rini, giving the last genin to arrive a nod. With the team complete, it was time to talk business.
"Today we will engage in a pretty high-risk mission. I assume that Rini and Kitana have some experience how I deal with missions. You two," placing her gaze on Kuni and Megumi, Etsu continued, "Are relatively new. To the likes of the subterfuge missions. Effectively, you aren't going to become heroes of songs. People will never know what kind of harm you stopped. What kind of 'bad guys' you took down. That is the sacrifice you have to give. Today, we will make a sacrifice for the good of the region's stability."
She placed some of her attention on the rest of the team.
"I have caught wind of some chuunin harming a civilian. A kid. Exact details are a bit vague. But seeing the upcoming unrest, what we will do isn't going to make it much better. Cause today, we are going to question somebody. Without legal permission."

The jounin said it with a calm voice as if there was nothing wrong with it. She would slowly reach for a bag that was behind her, on a crate.
"If you girls want to get some really good work done, then you join. If not, fine with me. No hard feelings and all of that stuff," she said, lightly shrugging as she would open the small bag, pulling out a mask, "If you do have what it takes to help this region, then you might be hunted down. It won't be a fun trip but not desperate either. After all," Etsu's eyes half closed as her voice gained a sliver of a threatening tone, "I got my methods and resources. The choice is up to you."
She would hold the bag up for them to pick out a mask if they were more than ready. The iron mask that was iconic for the Tough Rats would likely be a strange design, save it for Kitana and Rini. Who had dealt before with the organisation.

Nodding to the new genin, Rini focused her attention quickly back to Etsu. Placing her gloved hands on her hips, Rini listened to what the woman said. The mentioning of how Etsu dealt with missions made Rini slowly nod. She hadn't forgotten what had occurred before. Though the pain wasn't present, Rini could not say that she wasn't afraid to head back into the fray. The wound of the previous mission had healed but the mental pain would take a bit longer.
The girl's eyes widened to then narrowed as she weighted the words of Etsu. A silence followed the woman's words and if anything, Rini wanted to run away. She wasn't ready for what Etsu asked. Throwing a sideways look at Kitana, Rini wondered what she thought. What she would do. Kitana had a clan, family and thus something to fall back onto. What did she have?
Swallowing hard, Rini stepped forwards.

The gloved right hand of Rini moved slowly to the bag as she picked out one of the Tough Rat's masks. Staring at the mask, she slowly nodded before looking up, back at Etsu.
"I am in. Heh," a grin would show itself on Rini's lips as she raised her left thumb to her chest. "Guess I will do this. You scrubs can just sit back and let a real pro handle this."

When one by one the other team members started showing up she grew more relieved only to feel even more terrified. She wanted them to do something which would literally risk them being hunted down possibly? Did she forget that she was the Jounin commanders sister? She offered them the choice to leave or join but she also had the feeling that leaving wouldn't be an option after what was just said to them. She looked at Rini who took the mask even after the event where they willingly went into conflict happened. Yet now they risked being hunted by professionals. She gave out a cocky statement but Kitana wasn't convinced. "Did you even try to talk to brother about what you want to do?" she asked before walking to the bag and grabbing a mask. Looking at Rini she would sigh and give her a smile. "I guess so." Kitana said not very thrilled at the moment, she knew chances were that things would be difficult but this was asking a lot mostly of genin.

Listening to Etsu's words, Kuni felt very conflicted about this mission. One the one hand, it sounded like a mission that could mean a great deal, regardless of how it would be viewed by the population. Sometimes people did the wrong things for the right reasons, regardless of permission or not, she thought to herself while briefly thinking of the outcome of the Post office occurrence. Although last time, she didn't have a team with her, nor any proper plan.

And yet, she also thought of what could happen if they would be discovered. Like Etsu said, they would likely be hunted down. Eiji would most likely get interrogated due to being so close to her. Any trust she had worked on building, at all, would most likely be gone. And Kiyomi had warned her personally that she did not want to her anything that connects to her, and that there will be consequences if she did. Then there was also Son-Goku. She didn't want to think on what could happen to him if she was caught after an illegal action. They would probably remove him from her, and who knows what kind of host he would get instead. Maybe a better one, but she had very little hope regarding that.

Watching as Rini and Kitana both grabbed a mask, Kuni took a step back "I think it would be best for everyone if I didn't join. I'm sorry everyone." She said in apologetic tone, and her expression would clearly show how much she thinks this is the right thing for her to do.

One after another each member either agreed or denied. The first two grabbing a mask but the third refusing. Megumi looked over at the bag and glanced at the ground. She already was being pushed into moral decisions on her first day on the job. She never imagined she would be put into a team who would do things the dirty way. Although she also understood life was not just black or white and many things remain hidden. "I uh. I am unsure how I feel about this if I were to be honest. I never imagined I would be doing things illegally as a shinobi. Of course I know not everyone follows rules and some actions, albeit bad, can have positive affects." What would Chu think of this? If he knew she decided to go down this route? Megumi sighed as she stood silent for a bit. Reaching into the bag to grab a mask she slipped it over her face. She just told herself it was for the better of the world. To create peace. Maybe it also was the pressure to be a shinobi, to be accepted by her team that made her decide to go along. If things got too bad she could back out, right? If push came to shove she would just ask to be assigned to a new team, if that were possible after today's mission. Justice, what truly did define it?

Etsu watched the girls. She wouldn't hold it against them if they would back out. But much to her surprise it was Rini that first made the decision to join her. Holding the surprise from the calm expression that was plastered over her features, Etsu wondered what the exact reasons where that Rini had made this decision. Was it a sense of duty? She had some previous mentors, including the third Amekage. The words of the genin would have provoked a smile on Etsu's lips but now she just waited to see what the others would do.
The second to make a decision was Kitana. Etsu felt slightly bad for the girl. She had to consider that she could give lethal ammunition to her brother's rivals and against her clan. Though despite it wasn't fair to expect the teen to join her, Kitana would. Asking if Mitsunari had been consulted.
"No." Etsu just replied, deciding to extend her answer. "I will later explain why. I have my reasons."

Now it came down to Kuni and Megumi. Out of the two, Kuni was the first to reply. The jinchuriki decided it was in the best interest to not participate. The girl apologised and clearly wasn't feeling too happy about it. But if anything, she gained some of Etsu's respect.
Megumi brought up some questions but Etsu wouldn't answer them. Shinobi weren't in general disliked because they had the capability that other people lacked. It was because they didn't play by the rules that made a lot dislike them. Alongside other factors. As the newest member of the team thus dug into the small bag, pulling out the mask, Etsu would close it. Her attention moving to Kuni.
"No need to apologise. No hard feelings, Yoshikuni. If you do want to help, there is a grumpy bastard. Living two blocks away from here. Hard to miss. Seek out 'Lee's Thirst'. It is a small pub. The door to the right of the pub. Knock on it and say I send you. He will have something for you to do in case you still feel the need to help out."
The jounin turned her attention to the others. She saw that Megumi already put on the mask.

"Keep the mask off for now. I need you three to follow me. Stay calm and listen well. We got one shot. If we fail… well, I hope you guys won't mind a bit of a chase." Etsu said, casually as a smile followed her cryptic words.
Leading the group, she shot a look over her shoulder. She doubted that Kuni would follow them. But truth be told, she didn't trust the girl entirely. If anything in this craft had taught her then it was to doubt people. Far healthier than to put trust in people that you barely knew or had worked with.

Slowly the group would reach the perimeter of the police headquarters. The complex was well guarded and they had already encountered various patrols of guards that made their rounds. Or come back from them. Further leading the group to a nearby spot, she made sure that they wouldn't gain too much attention. Nearby an alley, they would have some distance to the bypassers.
"Well, here is the plan. We need to get a hold on the police commander." Once more the jounin made it sound as if it was a simple chore, like pulling out the weed in a backyard.
"Which means we will move into the police headquarters with only one shot. Any questions, moral objections or life issues you girls want to throw into the group?"

In Maghild's inner Citadel. The large hall where the feast is being held at.
A (relative short) collab of Team 4! Which thus includes:
- Somebody Actually
- FrostedCamel
- Oblivion666
- Aliceee
- Oetje

Summary:
After Meilin and Dea had their meeting, they seek out Aoi and Madoc. To introduce Dea to the team. As they get together, a new person steps up and states she also has been assigned to the team. There is some interaction before the group decides to split up to enjoy the feast before retiring from it.

[spoili]
So far, the feast wasn't that bad. Meilin still felt a bit out of place among so many nobles and prominent people. But it was certainly getting better. The few interactions she had experienced were quite pleasant. But now she was longing to find her team again. Brushing a few strands behind her ear, Meilin tried to find them. They had discussed that over a short bit that they would group up at one of the openings to the gardens. The soft and cold breeze that passed made Meilin actually long to head outside. To catch some fresh air from the warm interior of the large hall. Placing her hands on her hips, Meilin released a soft sigh. If they had only taken their communicators with them. Then it would have been so easy to group up again. Being accompanied by Dea, Meilin hoped that the previous conversation would allow the younger Cho to feel at comfort. Knowing how intimidating it could be to meet people you never had seen or spoken yet need to rely on them during missions, Meilin was assured that Madoc and Aoi would likely get along with Dea.

Aoi felt she had spent a little too much time surrounded by people she didn't quite know and was rather hurriedly trying to find the exit to the garden they had all agreed on using as their spot to regroup. She took another glass of some fancy liquor from a server as they passed and breathed a sigh of relief as she noticed Meilin standing in the doorway, "Meilin!" she called as she waved through a thicket of partygoers, "Meilin," she finally made it through the crowd and to Meilin's side, "I met my Uncle! He's here, I should have known he'd be here but it didn't click… her words left her as she noticed the shorter girl standing by Meilins side. She gave her a once over and decided she was rather unlike anyone she'd ever seen before.

For one her skin was a much darker shade than she was used to, her eyes were a rather deep brown as well, and her hair was just as dark. She seemed nervous, sticking close to Meilin, and she wore Chonobi clothing. Aoi became a little aware of the fact the girl was probably actually Chonobi and not just mascara ding like Madoc and her, she raised a hand and smiled, foregoing formalities as she thought it may be a little intimidating, "Hi." she smiled out at the girl, "I'm Miyazato Aoi, who might you be?" she tilted her head slightly in a questioning gaze.

Parties like these just weren't his style, to many figureheads around and way to many guards. He spent most of the night with some nobles giving some fake ass compliments and reading the minds of those who didn't know. All useless garbage to him but it entertaining to do it. Yet now he had to meet up at the opening to a garden. He knew he was getting close by hearing Aoi shout Meilin's name. Arriving behind the blue haired woman as she was telling Meilin about finding her uncle, she would ask the Cho what she did after they split. Madoc gave a wave and raised an eyebrow as he wondered as well, more so who this smaller woman with Meilin was, someone who either was just talking or she would introduce to them.

"Are you Meilin Cho?"

The voice spoke in a light raspy fashion, the tongue being that of the Chonobi language. Approaching the four, a blonde young woman would halt at a respectful distance. Despite being outfitted in a proper dress, there was a vibe that gave away that she would have been more comfortable with something else. Blue markings were visible at her eyes, forming two vertical stripes. Throwing a glance at the blue haired girl and blonde guy, the unknown person spoke up. This time, speaking in Taika. Despite the accent doing little to hide her likely origin. "I was told that I would meet you this evening. Dagrún Hon," she said, simply nodding towards the others. Planting her fists against her hips.

Now that she had Meilin by her side, she was much more at ease. Alone as she was before, surrounded by countless powerful and important people, she was sure to inadvertently cause trouble or offend someone. So she was sure to stick close to Meilin, and not lose her in the crowd. As they went along she did her part in searching the faces, of people that matched the description she had; but, honestly, she was mostly depending on Meilin to recognize her own teammates first.

Dea took a step into the garden, taking in the view of it. Her dress and shawl did a good job at shielding her from the elements; but still, she just couldn't get used to this cold. After waiting there a few moments, a woman approached them; excitedly speaking to Meilin in Taika. She had a many new experiences in the past years, but she could confidently say that she'd never seen someone like this. Her eyes were immediately drawn to the woman's hair. Which was, a bright shade of blue, that she hadn't thought possible until this very moment. Even more strangely, the woman's eyes pretty much matched the hue of her hair. When introducing herself, Dea recognized her name as one of her new teammates; and it was safe to bet that the blonde man trailing behind her was the Yamanaka that Meilin spoke about as well.

Stepping out from behind Meilin, Dea met them with small a simple bow "Hello, Ms. Miyazato, Mr. Yamanaka. I'm Dea Cho, I'll be apart of your team from now on."Her Taika, although practiced, was still accented; but she was confident in it. Almost immediately after her greeting, another woman approached Meilin and since Dea didn't think it involved her she shrank away somewhat.

Turning half, Meilin noticed that Aoi was approaching them. Flashing a smile, she overheard what Aoi had to say. Her uncle? For a moment, Meilin wondered who that could be. Other than, obviously a Miyazato. Perhaps one that also had blue hair? When Aoi's attention went to Dea, Meilin decided to just wait and see if the younger Cho would introduce herself. A smile crossed Meilin's lips as she placed her hands on her hips, watching Dea introduce herself. Before Meilin could say something, somebody approached them.

The newcomer spoke in Chonobi but in a certain fashion. That sounded familiar. The blue markings
at the woman's eyes were distracting. Hearing the name, Meilin wondered if her gut was right. Flashing a polite smile, she would make a small bow towards Dagrún.
"Pleasure meeting you. Allow me to introduce you to," Meilin gestured to Aoi and Madoc. "Aoi Miyazato and Madoc Yamanaka," the Cho subtly threw a look towards Dea.
"And this is Dea Cho, of the Vanguri." Meilin said, turning a bit towards the younger Cho, placing a hand on her shoulder. Hopefully, giving some comfort with the gesture.
"Is there something you wish to discuss with me?"

With the older Chonobi seemingly barging in and not paying attention to anyone but Meilin at first Aoi almost spoke up, almost said something. But she didn't know the girl, and surely didn't want to cross another Chonobi even she had crossed her first, confrontation was the last thing that was needed at a feast they were invited to by the Empress herself. More than a little frustrated with the Hon as she introduced herself with little more than a glancing nod to Madoc and her Aoi would force her best smile, "Miyazato Aoi." she said plainly.

Still managing to hold her smile as the younger girl introduced herself, Aoi returned the bow as the girl gave her own. When she rose she felt she may have heard the girl wrong, or that the alcohol, what little she'd drank, was getting to her head. Cho? And she bowed? Aoi was a bit stunned at the act that Meilin always seemed so uncomfortable with. She smiled a bit wider, "It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Dea," she hesitated as this Cho was to be a new teammate, "I look forward to working with you." she finished holding on to what small amount of composure she could manage as it dawned that the Hon may be joining them as well. [Two more Chonobi, great.'

So the little one was their new teammate? Well everyone had to make their start somewhere he supposed. She seemed friendly enough which was fine, as long as she wasn't a dick to him he didn't need to be a dick back. Yet the sound of Chonobi behind him caused him to turn his head, the blonde was talking to Meilin quite obviously before glancing at them and started speaking in Taika, That all but gave away that she was here for a certain reason. Meilin would go about introducing them to which he just waved at both of the females, while Aoi would also introduce herself to them. He felt very surrounded and it wasn't a very comforting feeling. Aoi looked like she was holding it together rather well, while Meilin looked…. more perky than usual. Was she trying to set up a good image for herself?

A blank expression was plastered on Dagrún's face. Her piercing blue eyes moved her gaze to the people that Meilin introduced. No hint of what the blonde Hon thought was revealed, yet her gaze settled a bit longer on Dea. Before going back to Meilin. "Mhm. I have been informed that from tomorrow on, I would be assigned to your team." The young woman stated, on a formal tone. "I considered that this would be a better moment than tomorrow." As if she just remembered it, Dagrún would throw a lazy look at the team of Meilin.

"I am looking forward to work with such a wide variety of individuals," the last words were spoken after a second of pause. "If you have questions, then feel free to ask them."

They would have another team member? Meilin was a bit too surprised to react right away. Crafting a smile on her lips, she nodded. Gesturing to the others, she would reply back.
"Welcome to the team, Dagrún."
Briefly Meilin weighted their options. She quickly came to what she considered a reasonable decision. She wagered that this event wasn't the best of moments to introduce one to another. It was also all a bit sudden. Which could compromise their first impressions.
"How about we do the first meetings tomorrow? I intended to soon leave anyways." She shot a look at Aoi and Madoc for a moment. A hand still on Dea's shoulder.
"Everybody agree?"

Aoi kept her smile and nodded along as Dagrún stated she was looking forward to working with them, but Aoi certainly wasn't. The girl already seemed as if she thought herself better, a cut above them, and she'd only just arrived. With Meilin suggesting they meet back up tomorrow to reintroduce each other Aoi was relieved since it would mean getting away from the new Chonobi girls as quickly as possible, "That's fine with me Meilin." Aoi said as she fidgeted slightly with her hands.

Nodding as Meilin welcomed her to the team, she listened to the proposal of the Cho. Dagrún would nod, a faint smile crossing her thin lips. "That sounds fine with me. I suggest we meet up at the field of Valdar. Plenty of room and options to train there." The blonde Hon suggested. "I wish you all a pleasant evening, in any case." Making a small nod towards Meilin, the blonde woman would turn on her heels and calmly make way into the crowd.

Giving a shrug followed by a thumbs up at the suggestion of having a more proper meeting later. Dagrun would say they could meet at the field of Valdar, before she wished them a pleasant evening and walked away. "Sounds good to me Meilin. You know how to contact me, I meanwhile will go be naughty a bit more before turning in. Later ladies." Madoc said as he would leave shortly after Dagrun.

Not knowing the intricacies of these matters, Dea couldn't tell if it was strange or not to suddenly receive two new additions on a team at the same time. She thought it was pretty fortunate for herself, even if it was sort of slapdash. This way, she wouldn't have to be the odd man out in the group. As for Dagrun, her greeting was amazingly straightforward and manly. Dea felt like clapping for it, but she ignored the impulse. Instead, she settled on a, immensely less cool, wave back to the woman when Meilin stepped in and introduced her.

"Sounds like a plan to me!". At their leader's suggestion, no one else seemed to have with it, so she too voiced her agreement with it.

Mr. Yamanaka and Ms. Hon, both took their leave upon agreeing and, after waving goodbye to them, she hung back for a moment to confer with Meilin and Ms. Miyazato about the exact location of this 'Field of Valdar'. Once she was sure that she could find her way there, she took her opportunity to escape this part as well. "Well then, Meilin, Ms. Miyazato, I'll be going next! See you tomorrow." With that farewell, Dea didn't exactly run off into the crowd, but she did make a brisk retreat back to her temporary, but much more comfortable than here, lodging.

Meilin noticed that Aoi seemed shy. Or was it something else? It was mildly confusing to see Aoi, who was usually excited to meet new people like this. Had she perhaps been mistaken that Aoi liked to meet new people? Probably it was the feast that made her friend and team member less eager or bubbly.
Then Dagrún spoke up, suggesting the field of Valdar. Nodding, Meilin flashed a smile before she spoke back to the Hon. Removing her hand from Dea's shoulder.
"Mighty fine suggestion. Till tomorrow, Dagrún."

Then Madoc spoke. Meilin shot him a look, her eyes slightly narrowing when he said that he was going to be a bit naughty. Wanting to say something, she remembered that she had told him that he could be a bit naughty. Hopefully, that wouldn't cause him to give himself or anybody else some trouble.
With Dea speaking up, Meilin moved her gaze to the younger Cho.
"Okay, till tomorrow Dea." Meilin replied. She wanted to ask if Dea knew the way around in Magnhild or would perhaps like to head back with them. But instead, Meilin opted to remain silent. Watching the younger Cho walking away, Meilin released a soft sigh.

"I will see you in a bit, Aoi. Hopefully, with Madoc not having himself winded up in too much trouble." Patting her friend's shoulder, Meilin flashed a smile as she walked forwards. Her thoughts already occupied with tomorrow.

A post between @Oetje and The Frostiest of Camels

Suzu approaches Meilin at the party and they have a short chat about a few different topics.
[spoili]
The party itself was beginning to wind down. Those in attendance finally beginning to leave in small numbers. Ones and twos at first, then a few groups of four or five here and there. The floor was becoming less crowded and it became obvious that many of the tables set out for food and refreshments were almost completely empty. Watching over the crowd with a lazy expression she couldn't help but notice faces that she knew every so often as they slipped between groups in the crowd or talked amongst others. So far everything had gone off well, and with the crowd drawing down she didn't quite mind to walk around as much. After all there was less chance of hitting people a bit too hard or accidentally slapping some poor nobles waist as she passed.

Roving through the crowd she'd stay mostly on the outskirts of it, not entirely willing to possibly cause a misunderstanding by moving into the crowd. Stopping alongside a brown haired girl, nearly the same height as her but garbed in a dress rather than armor. The idea of her in a dress was a little bit amusing but she was more so curious as to how Meilin had ended up at the party. How her entire team had in honesty.

"So you attend functions like these now as well huh?" Suzu asked from her side as she continued to watch over the party ahead of her. She was wearing the standard armor of the Sworn Swords, silver plate and mail along with the telltale blue scarf of the Sworn Swords around her neck and tucked beneath her mail. She had left her helmet in one of the ready rooms for the Sworn Swords and instead opted to place her hair in a elegant bun so as to appear as presentable as possible at such an occasion.

Meilin stood still. She didn't throw a glance to the side who it was. The voice was easy to recognise. Remaining silent for a moment, Meilin would reply back to Suzu.

"Seems so. Apparently, I am becoming quite the popular figure at this rate." Pausing for a second, Meilin threw a sideways look at the Sworn Sword.

"Nice to see you around as well. I take it that you're enjoying yourself?" Meilin asked, a smile playing on her lips.

"Hmmm?" She raised an eyebrow and turned to watch Meilin for a second, "Popular? How do come to that conclusion?" Suzu asked, unsure what she meant by it. She turned her gaze back to the crowd and shifted where she stood, her armor and Mail chinking lightly against each other as she did, "I wouldn't say I'm enjoying this." She stated as she motioned to a group off and in front of them, "That man, a lord of some sort from the Uchiha. He has been turned down at least seventeen times," she pointed to another man in the crowd, older and a bit more rounded about the edges, "A lordling from the River, he has a wife and four kids, he left for almost an hour with a fine young woman." she placed her hand back on the pommel of her sword, "There are more, but I wouldn't say I've been enjoying this."

She looked down slightly at Meilin, "There's work to be done out there, you know this. Yet here we both are. Enjoying the luxuries the Empire has to off on your end, and ensuring these people can do just that on mine." She didn't seem angry, or even discontent. More like confused, "You know we should be out there right now, more than ever."

"It was euhm, a joke. Never mind," Meilin replied. She listened to the response of Suzu. To be fair, there were indeed some downsides. That she had to agree with. But there was a certain aspect of this event that she liked.

"I know. But what do you propose? Currently, I received two new members to my team. I am certain that the zealots try to take a breather now and then as well. They are… well, some of them are human." Meilin further said, her tone becoming a bit softer.

"Besides, I need a break. Last few months have been nothing but tension and danger. Soon enough, I will be thrown back into it. I, for one, kinda need this."

A joke? She should have known. Suzu brushed the misunderstanding away and would listen to the young Chuunin as she spoke. It was true that the enemy likely took breaks as well, but something of this length? With this many operatives, soldiers and Shinobi tied up? It was a perfect time to up there activity and take action while everyone was busy elsewhere. it was as if the entire Empire decided to conveniently forgot that a foreign enemy was attempting to destroy them from within, and it sat incredibly wrong with her. She nearly protested that the girl was fine when she stated she needed a break, that some rest was much appreciated.

But Meilin was only a Chuunin. Perhaps she'd expected too much of the girl from her actions in Konoha and the River Province, or maybe she's just inflated her own version of the Chuunin at her side to fit what she best needed. "Understandable Meilin." she paused and thought, "You say two new members? Did you lose the other two? I hadn't heard that you had been attacked at any point on the way back, if so I'm sorry to hear it this way." she bowed her head slightly, a show that others expected more than something she actually felt a need to do.

For a second, Meilin wasn't certain how to react. She didn't see Suzu as a mentor or anybody remotely close to her. Yet, it felt good that the woman actually seemed to show some care. Raising her right hand to brush some strands of hair behind her left ear, Meilin would respond back.

"No, the other two of before are still alive. I suppose that the recruitment is going well. Or that I managed to gain enough trust to mentor a genin."

Becoming silent for a second, Meilin wasn't sure why but she decided to tell Suzu something.

"I may have killed a person. Under somewhat legal procedure. I am not a missing nin," the last was quickly added before Suzu would get the wrong idea. "I tried to disarm a person. Inflicting a wound at the wrist. And didn't treat it. Even while I could have."

It felt good but it was also confusing. Meilin wasn't entirely sure why she had told Suzu that. But it felt good to tell somebody it. Eír shouldn't have gone like that.

"I guess, that I feel slightly guilty for not helping a person that seemed bent on taking me down."

Suzu allowed herself a small smile when Meilin corrected her assumption that the two from Hanaguro had died, "A genin you say? Hmmm." she seemed to think for a little before raising a finger and pointing it to Meilin, "Perhaps it's more a test than actually thinking you're ready? This may be their way of trying to figure out if you've progressed farther than they think you could have in such a short time. Throw a young inexperienced pup to you and see how you deal with it." she let out a small breath as if reminded of something, "You have a lot to gain from this Meilin." she said with a nod, a lot to lose as well.

When Meilin stated she'd killed a person Suzu wasn't sure what to think. They all kill people, rather often, it was their job after all. But a legal procedure? Anything they did was technically within the bounds of the law, it was all legal procedure. A missing nin? Meilin was apparently speaking to speak at this point as if whatever this was had been eating at her conscious, "So you're not a missing nin… Okay?" it appeared it was eating away at her from the way she described her choice of inaction on part of the bleeding person, "You're obviously withholding information." she stated as she would turn in place to look down at Meilin, "But, if they were going to take you out… It was you or them. They very well could have injured you similarly and left you to die in a similar situation. In my opinion, that'd have been a greater loss." she wasn't entirely sure what the Cho was on about, "Even so, looking back on it and despairing is not going to change it. Learn from that choice to not act and use it later if you can." she clapped Meilin on the shoulder with her gloved hand and shook the girl slightly as she gave her a warm smile.

Perhaps Suzu wasn't that wrong. After all, the woman was a Sworn Sword. Her own experience paled when compared to that of Suzu. Taking the words, Meilin nodded as a faint smile grew on her lips. Though if Dea was a test from higher up, Meilin wasn't sure how happy she was with that. To safeguard a life was quite something. Training the genin wouldn't be that hard, Meilin thought to herself. It was to make sure that Dea wouldn't wind up wounded. Or worse.

When Suzu stated that she was holding information back, Meilin wasn't sure what to reply back. It dawned on her how stupid it was to confess to a Sworn Sword that she had shed blood of another person. Wanting to smack herself full on the face, she managed to keep her composure intact. But the later words of Suzu surprised her.

"Thanks," the word was uttered surprised. Only a second later did Meilin managed to find her cool, again.

"So," she started, "Where is your partner? You know, the one that was also in Hanaguro."

"You're welcome." Suzu said as she'd pull her arm from the Cho's shoulder and back to her waist. She was a little unsure what she meant by partner, but at the mention of Hanaguro it became clear, "She's not my partner." Suzu replied, "That was a working relationship, for that mission only as far as I'm aware." she smirked, "We don't operate like a normal shinobi team, I'm sure you figured that out after your first meeting with me." she said as the smile thinned a little. She knew Meilin had taken it all a bit hard, perhaps bringing it up had been the wrong idea.

"Oh," Meilin slowly nodded, emphasising that she understood it. The mentioning of the first time that she had worked with Suzu did dampen Meilin's appetite to further continue to try to exchange words with Suzu. But the young woman flashed a smile, trying to push that memory in the back of her mind.

"I see. Well, I suppose that is a given. Giving that you and the other Sworn Swords are members of the royal guard. Must be quite something, right?"

Suzu knew she'd set the girl off with the comment. It was spelled in the way she quickly changed the subject. Written, if only a little, on her face. She smiled a bit wider when Meilin seemed to ask what being in the Sworn Swords was really like. Suzu had honestly never thought about it. She did her job, just as she had for countless years before the Sworn Swords. "It is." she replied with a nod, "A lot of training, and often. Jutsu, hand to hand, and what I think you'd benefit from quite a lot would be the sword training we do." she tapped the hilt of her katana at her waist. She pondered something a moment, "Did you ever continue our training? With the chakra flow?" she asked curiously as she spun a hand around in the air as if she were channeling chakra to it.

"I would be quite honoured to train with the Sworn Swords. My own mentor is sadly not that much around. Being deployed to the East," Meilin said, wanting to shrug but deciding against it. The question was met with a firm nod.

"Every morning and before I head to bed. I am getting slightly better at it. Might take some time before I can consider myself decent at it, though." Wanting to show it, Meilin decided against it. This was neither the time nor the place.

"I wonder, is there anything that follows that technique up? As in, a technique that is deprived from the," repeating the gesture of Suzu with a smile, "Chakra flow technique?"

Suzu remembered that the Cho's mentor had been deployed to the unrest in the East, it had been something the file from when they had first worked together had spoken of briefly. She wondered if there would ever be a time in which Meilin would be able to train with her, but with the nature of their business… It was unlikely, but not impossible, after all they seemed to keep running into one another everywhere they went. "There is more to it yes. Once you figure out how to get it onto a blade there are more advanced forms of it," she pondered a second, "some practitioners are able to send their chakra out in cutting crescents with the swing of the blade, others make their blades longer or far sharper with it…" that was about all, anything derived from it was simply an extension of the chakra crescents, "Anything that could be considered different is just in the use of the crescents of chakra." she stated. "Perhaps if you have time while you're here?" she asked, the intention obvious.

The fact that there was more to it didn't surprise Meilin. Hearing the possibility, she was already intrigued. As eager to see if she was ready for it. Likely not but the prospect was quite alluring. When Suzu asked, the intention wasn't lost on Meilin. She was about to say yes. But remembered that she was now responsible for a genin. Not to mention had another member of her team. Perhaps she could make Aoi watch over Dea?

"I am not entirely sure. With a new genin and such. Is there a way that we can contact each other perhaps?" Meilin asked, trying to conjure some plans of her own.

She hadn't thought that Meilin would feel a need to watch over the new Genin at all times. At least she had some sort of a feeling of responsibility for the new Genin. Suzu gripped at the hilt of her katana as she thought, a little unsure how Meilin could seek her out if she wanted. Were it back at the Royal Palace it would be easier, simply walk up to the gate and request for her, but here in Magnhild? The City Guard had control of much of the security, if Meilin simply walked up and asked for a Sworn Sword there would be questions. "No easy way that I can think of." she said with a sigh, "But you have your Yamanaka." she said as a small smile grew on her lips, "Perhaps have him sense me out someday while you're still here, I leave with the Empresses caravan, so once that departs that's it for the foreseeable future Meilin."

Relying on Madoc? A possible option. Knowing that the Yamanaka was not that fond of the Sworn Swords, judging how the first meeting had went, Meilin didn't want to consider that an option. She considered her own way but that could also led them into trouble.

"Else I might ask her Majesty herself. A small favour," she thought out loud, "I will try to come with something. I usually do, at least."

The Empress. That could work, but it may raise questions within the Sworn Swords what Suzu of all people was doing training a Chuunin. "If you can leverage such an option, then by all means." she said as she would peer around the party again, "I hate to stop so soon, but I should probably return to my duty." she said with an apologetic smile. Placing her gloved hand on Meilin's shoulder again she'd give the girl an approving nod, "Keep growing, you'll make it one day. Sooner than you may think." she nodded.

The words of Suzu made Meilin look surprised. It was nice to hear such words and certain praise, certainly coming from a Sworn Sword. Meilin's cheeks gained a faint tint of red as she flashed a smile back.

"Thanks. Hopefully, I will speak and see you soon, Rabbit." Wanting to offer a salute, Meilin would content herself with making a firm nod towards the woman.[/spoili][/fieldbox]

[spoili]
He still didn't really know how to operate at these kinds of events, they always seemed too formal and the outfit while nice felt unnatural on him. He honestly was only still around because Kiyomi basically stated he needed to stay, something that honestly made him wonder why she wanted him to stay. It was best just not to ask. Deciding he wanted some fresh air, he would head to one of the exits. Possibly deciding how plausible it was to scale down the building. As he neared the exit he noticed someone else who looked almost more out of place than him. A rather young looking woman with black hair and some freckles.

Well while he was somewhat forced to stay here, he might as well as attempt some light conversation with someone who probably didn't feel right at these kinds of events. Although it never really clicked before that he never honestly started a conversation with someone before. Holy shit has he never actually had a conversation that didn't have him included into it?! Well first time for anything right? "Sorry to disturb you, my name is Kazumo Sarutobi Sigeberth, I simply thought that this event might be less awkward if two out of placed people talked."

As soon as he had finished speaking he would curse himself mentally. He was never allowed to start conversations ever again!

She had to find some time alone. So many people were starting to get to her. Able to excuse herself, Meilin was happy with being left alone. Feeling out of place, she was content that not a lot also did more than throw a glance at her. Managing to get her hands on a drink, Meilin took a sip of the beverage. It was sweet but still left the trademark of a soft burning sensation in her throat.
Almost did Meilin jump up when she was being approached by another person. Brushing a few strands of hair behind her right ear, she listened to the name that the young man gave her. It didn't need more than to realise that she was standing in front of a descendant of Sigeberth himself.

"Oh, pleasure to meet you, sir," Meilin replied in Chonobi as she would try to offer a gracious bow in return. Straightening her back, she almost forgot to give her own name.
"Meilin Cho Nayami," she began as she extended her left hand towards Kazumo. "Pleasure to meet you."

She spoke Chonobi? So she wasn't from one of the Taika clans then well that made him feel a bit more comfortable. Although when she was being a bit formal he would give a smile as he shook her hand. The Nayami lineage? He's read a book that mentioned them he believed. "You don't need to be formal with me, I'm no one special. I'm here by chance after all. What about you? You don't exactly look like this is your kind of scene." Kazumo said back in Chonobi, feeling the initial jitters slowly ebbing away.

She wouldn't need to be? For a reason, Meilin didn't want to buy that. But to argue back wouldn't field her anything.
"Makes two of us then," she tried to joke, "And I am just here to catch some peace. Not being anybody special, it is still nice to be out of the bustling part of the event."
Gesturing to where the majority of the people were, Meilin threw a sideways glance to the right.
"I hope I don't look too apart, though if it is so obvious that I don't mix in that well."

Just to catch some peace? He would say the opposite to attending an event where one mistake against a clan could result in dire consequences. As she asked that she hoped she didn't look too apart, he would shake his head. "Oh not at all, you look the part. It's more so you seem more shy than most here. Sorry if I made you think otherwise. I'm honestly more so waiting for the event to end. Was told by Aiko Cho, not sure if you know her personally. That I should try to enjoy myself while I was here." Kazumo said with a slight smile.

Meilin blinked rapidly. Was that a compliment? She looked the part? For a second, she wanted to question it. But she didn't. More so when he brought up the name of Aiko Cho. If anything, it made her slightly frustrated for it reminded her when Kensuke brought it up. As if every Cho knew another personally. What was up with that? Flashing a smile, Meilin decided to keep her thoughts for herself.
"I don't, sorry. I am sorry. Though I don't think I will be able to provide much entertainment. Just a regular, you know?"

…. Yeah he was royally fucking this up, this was a bigger slaughter than the Tokugawa Conquest. When she apologized he frowned a bit. "Don't be sorry. I'm making this awkward…. If it wasn't obvious. I'm not the best at… talking with others. Wasn't thinking of you as entertainment, more so that it might be easier to talk to someone who looks like they are here out of obligation rather than choice." Kazumo said trying to remedy this but doubting it would really work. "Let's put it this way. I'm so bad at this, it's like a Hyuuga went up to an Agnarr and spit in his face."

Her eyes slightly narrowed as her smile became wry. "And what if I was here by choice?" She started with. The idea that she was forced here wasn't that wrong. Social obligations though. But it didn't do much good for Meilin's mood to be reminded that she was here as some thrall. It just rubbed off wrong, certainly now.
The latter comment made Meilin just stare at Kazumo.
"So you are now stating that I am being spit in the face by a Hyuuga..."

Holy shit was this backfiring in many ways, it was as if he grabbed poison and chugged it knowing it was poison. He didn't really have a comment, so when she turned his example around on him his face turned bright red as he shook his head. "W-what? No! I more so meant it was… I was.. It was……. I'll just… leave you be. I apologize for this being…. awkward." Kazumo spoke almost in a rather quick fashion turning around and attempting a beeline for the other side of the room.

Staring at the other, Meilin remained silent for a moment. It was clear that this guy was clearly not that much of a conversationalist. For a moment, she considered her options.
"Wait," she would quickly follow and reach out. Trying to grab one of his wrists.
"It is pretty rude to just leave like that." A frown appeared on Meilin's brow. "Let us try that again. Cause clearly, you either need the experience or you have just never spoke to another person before."
Trying to cast a friendly smile, Meilin would once more extend a hand towards Kazumo.
"My name is Meilin Cho Nayami. Pleasure to meet you."

Only reason he even stopped was when his wrist was grabbed by her, causing him to turn around in defeat as she stated it was pretty rude to leave just like that. "Sorry…." Was all he got out as she stated they should try again as he needed the experience or never spoke to anyone. Well he did need the experience that was for sure, but he also should remember what to say after the greeting. As she reintroduced herself, he this time frowned slightly as he felt like he was being treated like a child almost. Shaking her hand, he would try to calm down a bit before speaking. "My name is Kazumo Sarutobi Sigeberth. Pleasure to meet you as well."

"How are you doing? Enjoying yourself so far?" Meilin asked. She would fold her hands in front of her stomach while giving him time to answer back. There was some doubt on why she was even doing this. Then again, better than to speak to somebody else who would look down upon her.

She was really bent on making him retry this. Now he wanted to know why, not like she would see him again. Yet it was better than standing alone he supposed. Staring at her for a second he would nod his head. "I'm doing alright, what about yourself? Enjoying the event?" Kazumo would reply, as her whole demeanor seemed to have changed. This felt like a trap.

"I am doing fine. I just need to get used to this kind of event." Meilin answered. The conversation seemed still a bit stiff. Considering how to iron that out, she wished that she was as energetic as Aoi. Or as smooth as Madoc.
"So, what does Kazumo do in his free time?" Meilin asked as she shifted the weight from one leg to another.

"You said it.." Kazumo mumbled to himself as she asked what he did in his free time. "When I'm not out on a mission, I like to read just about everything. Wars of past, history on clans, traditions, weaponry. Really anything. I also hunt, although I haven't been able to do that in a while. What about yourself? What does Meilin do in her free time?" Kazumo asked sending her question right back at her.

"I kill people."
The Cho didn't blink as she locked her brown eyes with Kazumo's eyes. Letting the answer sink in, a smile started to crack on the young woman's lips.
"Just joking. I just hang out with friends. Try to become better at waging conversations myself. Try to learn more about other cultures and clans. Nothing too spectacular." She said. It wasn't the entire truth but she had to admit that she was enjoying this a bit.
"Though, why can't you hunt? Or why haven't you been able to do that for a while?"

When she said she killed people, he didn't look scared surprisingly. Sure, not something you just blurt out, but he'd seen much worse. When she smiled he would chuckle slightly as she said it was just a joke, then listing off that she would hang out with friends and try to become better at conversations. She also made it a goal to learn about other cultures and clans. When she asked why he couldn't hunt, he would gaze at her for a few seconds before replying himself.
"As I said before, my job gets in the way of that. Sometimes it's simple work, then sometimes I have to kill people." Kazumo said with quite the dead serious expression before smiling. "Hmm that joke doesn't really play out well huh? No killing, but my job does cut into my time to hunt."

It didn't take much to figure out that he was with the military. Just what kind of corps did he serve in? She was tempted to throw it on shinobi, for the fact he came up with the name Aiko Cho. But that could be just another Aiko Cho. And not 'the' Aiko Cho-Hon.
"And you are good at it? This, killing people business?" Meilin asked, feigning a cautious tone. "Sounds pretty horrible. To actually kill people."

When she asked if he was good at killing people, he would stare in a bit of disbelief. "Am I good…. At killing people?" Kazumo said looking at her, starting to doubt some of the things she had been telling him. "Well I'm here aren't I? I must be good if that's the case. Never thought if it was horrible. A job is a job." Kazumo said chuckling a bit before he looked at her. "What about you? Are you good at killing people? Was it ever enjoyable to you?" Kazumo asked, partly lying on never having thought about it. He had but it had been more so on why doesn't he care?

A soft chuckle escaped Meilin.
"I suppose you can look at it that way. Or you just faced people who weren't good?" She replied, at first. When he asked about her killing, Meilin raised her right hand and almost seem to wave the question away.
"That was just a joke. I would be terrible at killing. Unless I am giving that vibe? I do hope not." Meilin's head slightly tilted to the right. "Or do I look dangerous in any kind of way?"

"I'm sure it was, thought we were giving some joking answers. As for facing people who weren't good…. Well I'm not the bragging type." When she tilted her head to the right and asked if she looked dangerous, his nerves from earlier had calmed down that's for sure. "Oh very dangerous. Not sure what's most dangerous yet, still figuring that one out." Kazumo replied to her, as he was rather positive the whole hanging out with friends and getting better at speaking wasn't quite the truth at this point. After all she wasn't doing a very good job of hanging out with them.

"Good. Bragging won't get you far anyway. Certainly not at how you performed before." She stated, not holding back on stating the blunt truth.
"Oh? And what would make me seem dangerous? Would I even be a threat for somebody like you?" An amused expression started to take place on Meilin's face. There was the brief thought on where this would go. But seeing he had seemed to calm down, it was way better than how it had been before.

Well that was a cheap shot, made him wanna retract his statement and state her words were probably the deadliest thing about her. Twisting words around, she somewhat acted kinda like his sensei, only a very inexperienced one. "Remember I don't brag. You'd have to simply find out for yourself now wouldn't you?" Kazumo responded with, a little smirk of his own. She was certainly hiding something, that much was for sure. Hell they both knew it, they just weren't stating it.

Now, it was starting to become much more interesting. The facial expression nor Meilin's tone didn't change.
"Me? Finding that out? I don't think I should. I am not really somebody that is able to kill or fight. Against a cold hard killer like you? I think it is clear that it will wind up bad if I try to figure it out by myself." Meilin replied, snorting back a laugh.
"But what kind of branch of the military are you serving in? Or is it something secretive?"

"Never know unless you try no? That's what risk is all about. Rather calm for one talking to a cold hard killer don't you think?" Kazumo asked with his own head tilt as he asked her the question. As she would ask him what branch he served in the military. "Who said I served in the military? Maybe I'm a freelance mercenary? Possibly even a remorseless assassin." Kazumo replied in kind, kind of enjoying this game they were having now.

Meilin half closed her eyes as she placed her hands on her hips. She was considering to state something that could be considered sassy but she didn't want to ruin the small fun.
"I think I can be quite calm. After all, I doubt you will try to kill me here. As for the military," she shrugged lightly as a certain smug expression became evident.
"I didn't think that a descendant of Sigeberth would be willing to sell his honour so cheap to become a mercenary or assassin."

He had an amused smirk at the comment of being calm despite what she was saying she was just a normal lady. She was an interesting one that was for sure. "Maybe I'm an outcast that just so happens to have Sigeberth's name? I could also charge top price as well, After all the Hojo did such a thing, no?"

She wanted to reply but then he brought something up.
"The Hojo?" She repeated, frowning slightly. "Euhm, who?" Meilin decided to ask as she wondered who or what he could be talking about.

"Never read about them? They are one of our allied neighbours clans. One of the three most powerful. They started out as mercenaries and too keep it short, would decide to try making a name for themself. Becoming their own people, fighting for their own land and now they stand as a might clan." Kazumo would state thinking this possible question was a legit one for once.

Looking at Kazumo with an almost blank stare, Meilin remained silent for a moment. She was aware that the Lightning and Akino were allies. But she hadn't ever dabbled much into their clans or those clan's histories. Remaining silent, Meilin considered something.
"You really do enjoy reading, huh? Never thought that I would meet a literature loving mercenary."

"I do indeed, granted reading about them probably won't help. Yet I like to learn, even if it's about a clan in the lightning. What about you? What do you do besides hang out with friends and read?" Kazumo asked as he had been on the receiving end of majority of these questions for a while now. He debated asking what she read but he felt he wouldn't really get the truthful answer. Well he doubted he would get the truthful answer out of any question.

"Go on long walks. Think about the end of the world. How to become smarter without much effort," Meilin replied, feigning a serious tone.
"I don't know. I just do what I feel like. Currently, I don't have much of a hobby. I am interested in owning a shop but currently, I am just doing all kind of jobs." Meilin answered, this time serious. "Nothing too dangerous though."

Long walks, think about the end of the world, and how to become smarter without hardly putting in the effort. She wanted to own a shop but did all kinds of jobs as well huh? Well this woman was something alright. Never meet anyone that thought about the end of the world. "What kind of jobs have you done then? Im curious as to what possibly interested you enough to take the job."

The question made Meilin frown slightly as the smile on her thin lips grew.
"What do you think?" Was her question in return. There was the temptation to lie about her occupation. It wouldn't be that hard, she figured. He wasn't a Yamanaka, so he couldn't read her mind. Or, so she hoped. Maybe she should request Madoc to teach her that soon.

He should have know she would respond with a question, he was half tempted to believe her to be a detective of some kind. Every question was just a way to turn around on someone. He would tilt his head as he was thinking about it, some of her stories just seemed like fibs while some he could believe. She wasn't no scholar if what she said about wanting to be smart without working for it was true. "Hmm… I'm unsure. I'll just say military as well."

For a moment, Meilin wondered if he would come up with an amusing answer. She wasn't entirely sure where this was going but she caught herself enjoying herself more and more. Noticing the blue hair, she wondered for a moment if it was natural. But then Kazumo made an assumption.
"Me? In the Military?" She began, sounding quite amused, "I look like a good soldier? Or mercenary?"

"As you said, you kill people. That makes for a soldier if you are the one killing. I wouldn't say mercenary though. Just a stand up good reliable soldier." Kazumo replied somewhat wondering how far this would go, yet at the same time it was surprisingly entertaining. Both making stories up putting some truths in for the other to decide what was false and what wasn't. He had to admit, she was indeed much better at speaking to others than he was.

Slowly, Meilin raised both hands as she shook her head.
"You clearly forgot that I said that I just made a joke. But I suppose, I should find it flattering that I am not appearing as a mercenary. I guess?"
Meilin flashed a wry smile as she lowered her hands once more.
"I don't think I will be that much of a fit in the military, anyways. My true passion lies somewhere else, anyways."

As she said that he clearly forgot she said it was a joke, he smiled and shook his head. "Oh I remembered, want to see if you would string a joke along like I did when I said the same thing. Yet however you see being a mercenary falls on your opinion of them. Like I said some made quite the name for themselves," he said as she then said her true passion lies elsewhere. "Oh what would that be by chance? In this store you wish to run?"

"I guess. But making your reputation on the blood of others? I think there are some more noble pursuits or ways to achieve the same." She replied, at first.
When he asked where her true passion lied, Meilin's eyebrows rose by a small bit as she answered.
"Who knows? I don't see a reason to say so. Certainly not to a cold stone killer."

"Always is depends on how you grow up I assume. Some are born and trained for combat, while others are raised for quite the opposite." he said and yet she wouldn't answer his one question even still stating that he was a stone cold killer.
"Okay then. A different question. What about me just shouts that I'm a killer? The lineage name? The hunting?"

"I suppose that logic holds some merit," Meilin said as she would place her hands at her back. Briefly she wondered if Aoi and Madoc were looking for her. Before she could bring up that she should probably look for her friends, he brought up another question.
"The lineage. I have heard nothing else but that the descendants of Sigeberth were trained to be killers. Hunters, soldiers and commanders, yes? Though, you don't really appear that dangerous to me."

When she admitted it was his lineage, he couldn't help but smile expecting that response from her. It was to be expected, she wasn't wrong but not fully right either. Not all the Sigeberths were trained killers, least not that he was aware of anyway but it did make him a bit curious. "Trained killers? I'm certain not all of them were trained killers, although you probably would be right in assuming a majority of them might be." He paused for a moment to consider something, wondering for a bit if he should go through with it.
He would think back to what his sensei and even his niece have told him through the night. Was it truly that simple? The way they said it seemed easy but he doubted, yet this was a learning experience in different ways.
"Well how about I prove that I'm no killer." He would reach out and would take hold of her sash as he would look into her eyes. "One dance, would a cold hard killer ask such a thing?"

[fieldbox=Two Ravens?- Part 2, burlywood]
In Maghild's inner Citadel. The large hall where the feast is being held at.
A collab between Zane and Oetje.

Summary:

This collab is where the first interaction between Kazumo Sarutobi and Meilin Cho. The two start a bit on a rocky ground but gradually seems to open up. After some exchanges, a dance occurs where the two start to really enjoy each other's company.

[spoili]
That was an interesting fact. Of course, not everybody could become a trained killer. She had seen it before. But if she would just agree or state she knew that, it would break the little game that they had. When he stated how about he would prove he wasn't a killer, Meilin's lips parted. A witty response already was at the ready.
But he went to reach and grabbed a hold of her sash. Her eyes locked on his. A moment of silence would issue.
Then Meilin reacted. Her hand shot forward, flat towards Kazumo's right cheek. She wouldn't care if he was a descendant of Sigeberth or perhaps known with 'the Aiko'.

A moment of silence which actually was worse than hearing a simple denial, it made him wonder what she was thinking. And then he was smacked. It certainly caught him off guard as her hand whipped across his face. Causing him to let go of her sash and blink a few times as he rubbed his face. "You know, I would have let go if you said no. But good smack by the way." Kazumo said as he felt the red hand mark stinging a slight bit.

She had a response at the ready. Wanting to tell him that if he wanted a dance with her, that he shouldn't treat her for something else. She wasn't a Hon. She had nothing against their traditions but wasn't going to just going to abide by some of them. Her stubborn pride wouldn't let her. But as she was about to tell him that, he complimented her?
Blinking twice, Meilin's lips parted but it took her a second to reply back.
"Thanks. I am also not a Hon. If you want a dance, don't treat me for something else."
She had felt confident about the previous action. But now she felt a bit sorry for him.
"How about we talk for a bit? Maybe we can have a dance later."

He partly wondered if the red mark would go away, be a bit embarrassing to explain why the outline of a hand was on his face. Though she soon clarified that it was the tradition being Hon that bothered her. He didn't think it to be bad, after all it wasn't like it meant she was a Hon but he could understand why she didn't like it.
"I apologize, didn't think that would have been bad. Yet sounds fair to me. So do you follow mostly Cho traditions in that regard? " Kazumo asked not wanting to incur anymore slaps that he didn't mean to cause.

The faint mark of her hand was getting visible. Meilin rested her gaze on the mark for a second. Then he brought up a question that made her lock her eyes with his.
"Apologies accepted. Perhaps I reacted a bit too harsh," she said, her gaze once more going back to the mark. "And sorry, I have just been a bit tense. This," making a subtle gesture to their surrounding. "Isn't the usual climate I find myself in."

"But yes," she continued, "I follow the traditions and manners of my own clan. I respect that of the others and find some alluring but purebred Cho, you might say." That sounded better in her mind, Meilin thought to herself regarding her last line.

He would shrug but smile at the same time. "It's fine with me. You had good reason, well good reason to be slightly annoyed. Possibly think twice if it was someone with way more influence." Kazumo said as she apologized as this wasn't her usual climate, to which he nodded in agreement. "I understand you on that regard, safest place in the world probably and yet still not comfortable here." Kazumo said agreeing with her.

She would then answer his question on following only Cho traditions, she respected the other Chonobi clan's traditions yet she considered herself a purebred Cho which caused him to chuckle. "I get the point, I find most of their traditions to be rather nice and somewhat family oriented. Granted not all of them are. I'd have to say I like the red scarf tradition the most. Gives a lot of meaning for that person to come home again."

Nodding, Meilin wasn't sure how to respond in return. His replies did ease her slightly but she was still feeling a bit out of place. "Mhm. What more do you know about the traditions?" She decided to ask to keep the conversation going. She wondered for a moment if he had read that all or because he had somebody that was a Cho, as a friend.

"Just that one or others? I know that those with red hair can knit in the hair to improve the luck and to help them wearer find their way back home. Knocking on wood three times with your right hand three times when talking about an unwanted situation, to prevent bad spirits from hearing it. Also the event after childbirth of waiting forty days at home with the baby where on the fortieth day a special ceremony is held. Forty stones from forty places that belong to the Cho are gathered for the ceremony at a Cho temple. They are dropped into the water as well as a Gold Sun from the father for good fortune. Then the baby is washed with the water and given his or her name. I could go on and on but you get the gist and I'm probably going to bore you if I continue."

She was honestly, a bit surprised. Not that the traditions of her clan were in any way secret. And he was a Sarutobi. Chances were pretty big that he knew a thing or two about the other Chonobi clans. Yet, it was nice to see somebody actually knowing a thing or two about her clan. When he said that he would bore her if he continued, she shook her head lightly.
"Not really. Surprises me a bit. It is not every day that I come across somebody that is quite aware of my clan's traditions and habits."
Pausing for a second, Meilin decided to ask something.
"Where did you learn all that?"

It surprised her that he knew that much? Well most didn't read for fun like he did so in a way it made sense to be a bit surprised. So when she asked where he learned he would smile. "When I was younger my father would every now and then go out to the closest city for things we needed. He would also take me to libraries when he could since I enjoy reading. I was also given books from time to time and one such book was about the Cho's. Nothing super detailed like their wars, but their traditions and habits were there. It's how I know about the Hon's traditions as well."

"That is nice." She replied, being quite genuine.
"And what do you find the most interesting then about the Cho clan?" Meilin asked, her eyes slightly narrowing as she became more curious. There were more questions at the ready but she decided to not fire them all at one at Kazumo.

What did he find most interesting? Well that was a tough question to answer, he found it all interesting to then pick one of the many pieces of information. Well that just wasn't fair. As such he had to think and ponder about it for a bit with a content smile. "Thats hard, its all interesting to me. From the moon flower tradition being a way of proposing, to their wars with the Wakumi. Also their specialized units are intriguing as well, like the Cho guard. A truly grueling process even to become one is impress for those that succeed deserve the position." Kazumo said realizing he was getting off track a bit. "If I had to pick I'd say their history is the most interesting. Sounds like a typical answer but I do enjoy how diverse it is."

"Hmmm," Meilin seemed to weigh his answer. A smile cracked on her lips. "I see. And what did you find the most fun to read about?" She decided to further ask. There was the brief consideration that she should look up where Aoi and Madoc were hanging out. But she imagined that there was no hurry to see how the others were doing.

Oef she wasn't backing down from asking him these questions in the slightest. It was fun though, a test of sorts which he didnt mind in the slightest. "The start of a history is always interesting. The Chonobi Migration is how it all started after all when they first settled in Frami, where the Sarutobi would go on to their Kingdom of old. Yet its interesting in the fact that the Alaricus a clan in the North once found home in Frami, only to have to migrate after the Chonobi migration. Although it's quite sad when you think that we made a clan migrate themselves. Yet with their history comes a lot of information like their wars. Did you know the Cho clan is one of the only clans in Akino to fully genocide an opposing clan? It really establishes their dominance to not cross them. So its not surprising that many of the clans today hasn't really fought them. Not even the Tokugawa has."

How much did this guy read, Meilin wondered for a moment. It was a bit daunting. She wondered if he even knew more about her clan's history than she did. When he brought up a fact, that the Cho had genocided a clan, Meilin raised her right hand. Scratching her cheek, she flashed a wry smile.
"Wauw. You sure do like to read and study a lot. Is there like, not something you like to do? Some kind of hobby or activity?"

He felt his face fluster a bit at what she said, he knew he read a bit too much for his own good. Yet he felt comfortable with it, so her question wasn't one he hadn't heard before. "Well you know about the archery…. I whittle if that's exciting? Wood carvings in my free time. Nothing big and exciting though, really most of the things I know came from reading. Well most things anyway. Some things require actually experiencing to learn from it."

"Wood carvings? Oooh," Meilin placed her hands at her back as she slightly leaned forward. "And what kind of figures are you able to make? How did you even start to do something like that?"
It reminded her of when Aoi brought up painting. Perhaps she should pick something up that was more creative. And something that had nothing to with becoming a better operative or soldier. Just something to lose herself in.

She found something like that interesting? She did know what is was right? It could take weeks for him to even finish one and if he messed up then that piece of wood was essentially ruined. "Nothing too complex like fancy building. I can do some animals, ironic enough I can make a tree. Nothing too fancy. That however I learned from my father. He taught me most of what I know about nature itself. Which is handy but sometimes I wish he taught me more everyday kind of matters."

She wanted to already jest. But decided against it. From what she could tell, he was opening up to her. Jesting about that would be cruel.
"Perhaps you then need to find somebody who can help you with that." Meilin suggested in a friendly tone. "You aren't that much of a bad guy. There are plenty of people who would more than likely be willing and able to help you out." For a moment she considered how hypocrite that statement was, coming from her.
"What more do you like to do?"

Kind of Ironic how she was the one helping him right now. Some things however he couldn't just ask someone to help him with though. It would be rather embarrassing to do such. For example he wasn't like her in asking these questions to learn more about people. Could be why he didn't understand them as much as he should. So when the next question came he smirked. "Well I am quite good at making a fool of myself during a first impression."

A laugh escaped Meilin, who quickly tried to snicker it back to a lower volume. She hadn't expected that answer, that was for sure!
"At least, you don't need somebody to instruct you how to make jokes. And don't worry," she waved subtly with her left hand, "I have seen people messing up their first impression way worse. Besides, bit harsh to expect that every first impression goes without a problem."

He was honestly taken back by her laugh, even how she tried to lower it instantly it didn't occur to him that his joke was a very amusing one. He could feel himself slightly flushing as her laugh was kind of cute, upon further notice she even had some freckles. He had this odd gut feeling if he were to ask about them, he would wind up being smacked again. Yet good to know he wasn't the one to make the worst impression ever. Although he was sure he was close to the top. "So I don't get smacked this time around. Would you like to dance?" Kazumo asked while secretly bracing himself for a smack again.
Considering the offer, Meilin threw a look at the part of the hall. Where people danced together. Weighing the options, Meilin frowned. She did want to find Aoi and Madoc. But she wondered what was holding her back to have some fun of her own. Turning her gaze back at Kazumo, she wasn't sure what to think of him. He had his own charms but wasn't particularly the most charming guy she had ever met.
"You can dance? Well, very well. I suppose I should give you a chance then." She would answer, waiting for him to lead her to the part of the hall where the dancing commenced.

When no smack came and instead she agreed he was surprised a bit. He was doing quite a lot of firsts today, he wasn't sure how others did this so easily. Talking to women that was, to him it was unnatural, only interactions with women he had was through his team. Then again they were…… well best way he could explain it to himself was very unwoman like. Only one that got a pass was his sensei. "Possibly, only one way to find out." He said with a slight joking nature while his inner thoughts were far from joking.

Yet swallowing trying to keep the little courage he was using to even ask, he would lead her to the hall where the dancing would be held. Seeing various couples dancing away having a good time would for some reason unnerve him a bit. Taking a mental deep breath as they went further in, he would turn towards her and offer out his left hand.

Her eyebrows slightly perked up when he replied with a joke. She wasn't sure what to expect but decided to stop worrying and analysing the situation. This was supposed to be a festive event. Not one where she would need to be cautious or worried about any possible encounter with Zealots. Following Kazumo, Meilin noticed that he offered his left hand. Not being educated in matters of formal dancing, Meilin placed her right hand into his left hand.
"And what now?" She asked, still trying to just surrender herself to the moment.

As she took his hand and asked what was next a brief smile was on his face as he moved slightly closer but not too close to be invading any personal space. He would cup his right hand and place it at her left shoulder blade. "Hopefully me not stepping on your feet." Kazumo jokingly said, as he tried to refrain from staring her in the eyes too much. Wait was that rude to do? "Don't think too much into it…" He thought to himself as he took a small step to the left, then forward, right and back. One of the simplest dances he could think of, one with low risk of injury besides as he joked about, foot stepping.
"So what do you find the most interesting about your clan?" Kazumo decided to ask by throwing one of her own questions back at her.

The answer caused Meilin to look away for a second, a soft snicker escaping her. Locking her eyes with his, she wasn't sure what to do with her left arm. It was too awkward to leave it hanging at her side. Placing her hand just below his shoulder as she saw some other people doing the same, Meilin wasn't sure what to do now. When he took a step, Meilin's eyes widened. Her eyes shot down as she realised that she had to move with him. Letting him lead wasn't in a certain sense easy. It meant giving up control. Focusing on the steps, Meilin didn't answer his question right away.
"The most interesting," she repeated, trying to get comfortable with the paces. "I suppose that I never have been to the heartlands of my clan. I want to see the Sea of Vanguri. The mountains in the jarldom of Frode. Be among, well, my people for once."

It was very subtle but he did notice that she seemed rather new to this. Is this her first time dancing? That oddly made him more relaxed, he figured to have high expectations going in. Good thing he didn't need to know better than to not ask if she ever danced before. She would find out soon that this was a very simple dance. Just left, forward, right , and back. Well he could always add an extra step but best not to overwhelm her. Instead he was curious about her answer, even locking eyes with her as she wanted to be with her people more and see more of the heartlands of her clan.

He understood that sentiment, he longed to see his clans heartlands as well. What they use to call home was something he wished for dearly. "I hope you do see them. I hear they are beautiful sights to behold. Yet where did you grow up then?"

Repeating the steps in her mind, Meilin grew more confident. It wasn't that hard. It was much different from the usual dancing she had participated in. Less free but nothing bothersome. The question once more ruptured Meilin from her thoughts.
"Now, no fun if I give all the answers. Let save some questions for another time," she suggested, not forgetting the little game that they had indulged in before. Briefly her eyes lowered as she tried to make sure that she had the steps right.
"So, is this how the higher class dance?"

Her reply left him smiling a bit, they were still going to play that game huh? She was an odd woman, charming, yet odd at the same time. He wasn't quite sure why, most don't like being obviously lied to or even smacked. For some reason though he was perfectly fine with it all. So as she asked if this was how the higher class dance, he had to hold back his own laughter. As if he bursted out laughing, it would be way more awkward
"Those that like simple and easy yes. I figured it would be the safest bet to go for. Granted there are ways to make the dance more interesting." Kazumo stated as he noticed she was getting more use to the pace as they went. It also allowed for them to talk more instead of focusing on the dance completely.

"Let us keep it at this. I prefer not to fall for anybody this evening," she half joked in return. The idea that this dance could get complicated wasn't certainly something that Meilin was eager for. Once more Meilin's eyes darted down to inspect that her feet were doing what they were supposed to. Returning her gaze back at Kazumo, Meilin spoke up.
"So, was this worth a slap?"

Snickering at her joke he would nod his head slightly. "You sure? That's the best part of the dance though. I guess we can skip it though." Kazumo said returning her joke as she would ask him if this was worth a slap. He thought about it for a few seconds before giving a small smile. "I would honestly say that it was. I'm glad to have meet you Meilin."

She had expected a jest back. The answer surprised her. Her eyes widened as she wasn't sure how to reply. A small laugh escaped her.
"You are one odd egg. First guy ever that actually took a slap to the face and didn't regret it. But well, I aim to please. Now and then." Her eyes briefly settled her gaze on the cheek where she had struck him.
"At least, you might have a temporary memento of me. Which might be for the better." She further added.

"I've heard that before yet I think this is the one time where it can properly count." Kazumo said with a small shrug as he noticed she eyed the spot where she had smacked him and stated he had a temporary memento of her to which he chuckled.
"Well it will certainly help me remember this event besides all the clan leaders and nobles talking business. Although I do have one joke that you may find funny." Kazumo said as he eyed around in case someone who shouldn't hear overheard him.
"We had a bad start to which we had to redo it and it went better right? Well two hundred years later and the Hanta still won't even talk to the Tokugawa after one interaction."

The expression of Meilin shifted. Frowning, Meilin's expression could be described as a bit wry.
"Euhm, yeah. I think it is best if you keep it to dancing." She said as reply to his joke. "Or is this the kind of humour that the higher class enjoy?" Oh by the gods, she hope that wasn't the case. Else she should try to get earlier away than she had planned.
"How about this," she started, "There was once a daimyo who had various samurai gathered. He asked them to show him the mightiest weapon. The first samurai stood up and proclaimed he had the best weapon. Dropping his pants and weighing 10 pounds, his 'weapon' rose. A second Samurai proclaimed the same and hang 20 pounds around his 'weapon'. People cheered and praised the mighty weapon. Till the daimyo rose up and would hang not 30 nor 40 pounds around his 'spear'. But a solid 50 pounds. The men started to cheer "God save the lady!". Well?"

He would admit his joke sounded better in his head, as she would ask if this was how the higher class joked, which caused him to roll his eyes a bit before she would procure her own joke. The more it went on the more he grew silent and confused as it showed on his face. "Wow….. I guess this is how the higher class joke." Kazumo said turning her statement right around on her. His may have been bad but hers was awkward. In fact now he tried to understand the joke behind it. Well they were both equally as bad at jokes it seemed. "Possibly jokes aren't our forte…. "

"Okay but I got another one," Meilin protested, "And if you don't find this one funny then I just think it is your sense of humor." The Cho further stated. Taking a moment of pause, she would then proceed to tell the joke.
"Before a daimyo went to war. He gave his most trusted advisor the key to the chastity belt of his wife. He told his advisor that he was the only one he trusted. As the daimyo would ride from his castle, he was merely half a mile gone before his advisor managed to catch up to him. Telling him, " Meilin paused as a grin grew on her lips. "Sir! You have given me the wrong key!"

When she mentioned having another one he smiled slightly in amusement as he braced himself for possibly having a bad sense of humor. As she spoke he would first note that she enjoyed more dirty humor, yet as she delivered the punchline a smirk grew on his face as he chuckled slightly. "Okay that one wasn't so bad." he would admit before speaking again.
"Hmmm I'll try a better one this time." he said giving ample time for her to prepare for a bad joke. "Three hunters go out into a forest in search of a deer. Yet all three wanted to be the one to take the deer down. So the third hunter came up with a plan, he suggested whoever could hit the highest tree branch with their arrow would take the deer down, yet stated they had to use his arrows in case theirs were heavier. The other two would agree to this with the third hunter aiming and hitting halfway up the tree." Kazumo would pause for a moment before continuing. "The second would aim and would miss the branches, the first hunter would take his friends arrow and aim. The arrow would hit the very top of the tree, yet as the first hunter cheered the third would claim victory. The first hunter stated he hit the highest branch, but the third would smile and say. But you hit it with my arrow."

Her grin morphed into a wide smile. Almost causing her to forget a step and causing their slow dance to become a mess. When Kazumo said that he would try better, she awaited to hear what he would tell her. The expression slightly became less eager as she seemed to ponder for a second.
"Okay, yeah. I get it. Not that much of an amazing one though. But it was better than the previous one." Winking at him, Meilin would become silent for a second. A soft sigh escaped her as she did enjoy herself at the moment. But she was considering to head back.
"I do think I will be going soon. Which will be a shame. Cause despite your jokes being awful, you're pretty fun to kill time with."

Well it was a step up which was an improvement, jokes weren't his saving grace which was probably for the best. Maybe he should read a book on jokes, which he would never say out loud as that sounded really… lame. As she would sigh he would raise and eyebrow as she would state she would be going soon, as she gave him both a compliment and an insult at his jokes. He would acknowledge it and nod his head with a smile. "Well I rather enjoyed killing your time. Yet it is getting late, feast will probably be over soon enough anyway. Hopefully I can kill more of your time again someday, you know when I'm not being a cold hard killer that is."

"I might like that. As long as it won't be an actual contract on my head." Meilin replied. She briefly and softly inhaled, wanted to say something. But at the last moment decided against it.
"Maybe you will even have better jokes. That would be quite something, though." The Cho said as she slowly pulled her hand back, stopping their dance. "If you do, I won't slap you next time. How about that?"

"Well i'll be sure to remember your name in case it does." he said as he chuckled at her saying maybe he would have better jokes next time. As she did she even offered a incentive by saying she won't slap him next time. "Oef, guess I have some practicing to do on jokes then." Kazumo said as he could feel his face flushing slightly. "Well until we meet again then Meilin."

"Good, I will be looking forward to it. Till then, Kazumo," making a small and graceful bow, bending slightly though her legs, Meilin would turn on her heels and walk away. There was a faint smile plastered on her lips but she decided to not give it too much thought. Perhaps this feast wasn't that so bad.

[fieldbox="Out of Place, #007dba"] Madoc Yamanaka and Miyazato Aoi | Team 4 Chuunin | Akinian Empire, Magnhild

A collab between @Oblivion666 and @FrostedCaramel

Aoi and Madoc talk after meeting their new team. Expressing the worries they already have about the two new additions and the reaction of Meilin to them both. They then decide to dance so they can undertake a personal mission and spy on Meilin as she dances with a stranger.
[spoili]

Aoi was at this point about done with all the excitement of the party. It'd been a new experience at first, something she never thought she'd be able to do, to be surrounded by some of the wealthiest and most powerful people of the nation. To be wearing a formal dress of a culture she still knew next to nothing about and a hairstyle to match. She'd even been somehow mistaken for a Chonobi on more than a few occasions which ended in rather quick apologies in Taika and awkward bows as she quickly fled from those people and anyone else who had been unlucky enough to spot the interactions. She'd been treated as though she were there for a bigger reason than being the extension of an invitation to her team leader by everyone who she had talked with, and it felt slightly empowering, to be spoken to on such an equal level with all of these important people.

But now she was done with it. She'd spoken to her uncle a short while before and at this point just wanted to get outside and head back to the inn that Madoc and Meilin and her were staying at. As she walked she spotted something she'd never have imagined she'd see, Meilin talking with a rather tall dark haired male. Even through his formal wear it was obvious he was strong, so military had to be his job in one way or another, and by the seeming look on both of their faces the conversation appeared to be going well. Aoi would continue walking through the crowd, not wanting to watch for too long and risk being seen. Trying to find her way from the party she noticed the familiar blonde of the one and only Madoc Yamanaka and would creep up alongside him. She kept her voice low and stared out at the party without looking at him, "So how are you enjoying this? Flirting with fine noble women, spinning tall tales, maybe even a little sleight of hand work?" Aoi said, the tease obvious in her voice.

Even for one such as himself who would know exactly what to say and how to say it by simply reading what they wanted him to say, the game got boring after a while. Entertain a few ladies, get praises hell he was sure one asked if he wanted to arrange a meeting with her father? It was getting simply too easy so much so that he retired by the refreshment table and was now onlooking as he was drinking away. Hopefully they would be allowed to leave soon, he saw Aoi multiple times running away from people and only caught Meilin's brief interaction with some guy.

Yet think of the person and they will appear as Aoi would move up alongside him and asked if he was enjoying flirting, lying and stealing. He would chuckle and take another sip. "It got old an hour ago, too easy. Can't sleight of hand anything, not here anyway. So many people would have a sword up against me before I could even sniff them out."

She brought her hand to her mouth and laughed a little at the fact he was finding it too easy to flirt with the women and get in with the powerful aristocrats of the country, "The ability to read must remove the risk in these things huh." she wondered how convenient that'd have been to have, to know what the other wants and is going to say, "But removing that risk also gets rid of the fun doesn't it?" she tilted her head slightly to look up at Madoc to her side, "I mean, where's the fun in talking to a woman if you know everything you say is exactly what she wants to hear hmmm?"

Aoi would catch a server as they passed and pull two small glasses of a bubbling liquor from it and offer the second to Madoc with a smirk, "Have you tried this stuff yet? It's amazing, I've never quite had something that fizzes and is sweet and alcoholic at the same time." she was talking to talk now, unsure where she was even going anymore.

"If I had a silver shield for everytime some female here wanted a compliment on their dress. Shit I wouldn't need to sleight of hand anything. Yet it's handy even if I never have any risk. Unless they think in a language I don't know. Then I'm shit out of luck." Madoc said as Aoi would grab two glasses from a server and hand one to him. Taking the drink in one hand he would look at the two drinks in each of his hands and would chuckle. "Ahh there we go. Now I look like I hate this party." he said before taking a sip from both drinks and shaking his head, as Aoi asked if he ever tried it before as she never had anything sweet and alcoholic which caused him to laugh.

"You really don't remember that one night in Hanaguro huh? While it wasn't fizzy, Cloud Nine as it was called was sweet and alcoholic. Seemed to have earned the name alright." Madoc said as he downed the rest of his first drink setting the glass on the table and pounded his chest a bit. "Oh shit is daddy gonna be drunk in the morning. So! What about you? Have fun running from people?"

Aoi's smile grew into a bit of a terrified look as she realized Madoc had already had a drink, she'd moved up alongside him and not even checked to see if he was already holding anything and just assumed he wasn't, "Sorry wasn't really looking." she apologized as she shook her glass to let him now what she meant. She'd raise it to her lips and take a short sip before being a hand to her chin and thinking a moment, "I remember, bits and pieces of course, but I remember. I was more so talking about the bubbles." Aoi would say as she raised the glass up and eyed the amber liquid as the bubbles at the bottom rose up in droves.

She caught herself almost laughing when he referred to himself as "Daddy", wanting to say something coy but finding it to be a rather inappropriate setting for such a comment she'd hold her tongue, "I guess so." she said a little sad, "I didn't get to talk to as many people as I'd have liked, I got scared a bunch when people opened with Chonobi." she swayed from side to side as she frilled out her dress, "I guess maybe it's the dress? But blue hair I mean? I've never seen a blue haired Chonobi before…." she kept swaying for a little before stopping, "Some people were interesting though, I spoke to a Clan leader from a small River province clan. Talked about Hanaguro for a bit… There's apparently a lot more that we failed to see of its beauty during our stay." the way she said the final part made it obvious she was a bit remiss about the fact they hadn't really gotten to explore.

"Oh trust me its fine. Maybe looking like a drunk will keep people away from me." Was his reply to her apology as she looked sad that she seemed out of place, as others tried speaking Chonobi to her to which she used her blue hair as an excuse. "What about the buff dude Meilin's talking to. He has blue hair. Granted it's dark as hell but its got that blue tint to it." Madoc said downing the other glass and pounding his chest a bit as he shook his head again. "The….. What is their names the Taimyo? Nah they own Hanaguro….. Eh not that it matters much. It was to be expected we missed like seventy five percent of that city. Saw the important parts though!" he said with a chuckle as he pat Aoi on the shoulder.

"Chin up. You will see it again I'm sure. Hopefully while not staying at the Pink district the next time." Madoc said as he joked about their choice of luxury during their time there. Which of course led them to the giant breasted Albino and the duck, Sworn Swords his ass.

She found herself smiling a bit wider as Madoc also brought up the man that Meilin had been speaking with, She turned to him a little and looked up, "So you saw that too huh?" she asked, a spark of curiosity in her tone as she seemed to grow excited at the happening, "So what do you think? Did Meilin start that? Or the man? They seemed to be having fun too," she had a hand up on Madoc's forearm as she rambled, "Meilin smiled but then I stopped watching! Oh do you think they're friends? Maybe an old flame or something? She'd keep that from us, I mean I keep that from us so I don't really blame her do you think that maybe he tugged on her sash like she said they do? Did she maybe," her eyes lit up and she was gripping at Madoc's sleeve and tugging at it incessantly, "Do you you think she accepted? What if they're dancing or something!"

Good thing he wasn't drunk or otherwise Aoi's rapid fire questions shot his way would have surely confused him, heck it confused him regardless as he had to take some time to process them all while she tugged at his sleeve. "I think it's fine? Probably the male did, and looked like they had fun. She did smile, not sure if they are friends. I doubt Meilin even had a boyfriend before…. Don't tell her I said that. Maybe he did? Not sure if she accepted." Madoc said before rolling his eyes and taking her sash. "Like this? Honestly that's an odd way of asking for a dance but to each their own. If you want to see if she's dancing so badly then only one way to find out."

For a brief moment she kept up with him as he crossed every question off her list, smiling wider with each confirmation of her questions and even the fact that they did in fact appear to be having fun. She laughed a little when Madoc mentioned that he didn't think Meilin had ever been with anyone in the past, "I'm not sure, I kind of agree but maybe she has… She is really secretive." Aoi agreed as he continued to answer her questions. When he grabbed at her sash it took her a moment to realize what that was supposed to mean even though she'd been talking about it just before. She took a half step back and looked up at Madoc, "You want to…?" she asked a little confused, she was pretty sure it was just to satisfy her, maybe he'd read something from her mind even she didn't know yet, or maybe he just wanted to spy on them as much as she did. "Okay." she said as she finished her drink in one go and placed it at the table.

She wasn't sure if she was supposed to lead him to the floor or the other way around so she would stand for a moment and offer her hand, to let him lead. She was smiling, a small flush to her cheeks as she waited for the surprising turn of events to take form.

"Noooo I grabbed it cause it looks really fun to grab and hold." Madoc said giving her the oh really look, before taking her hand and leading her to the other hall where dancing was being held. Various nobles were out and about dancing and sure enough in the distance was Meilin and the man from earlier dancing. "Holy shit those arms are huge…." Madoc mumbled as he pointed for Aoi before leading her to a spot where they wouldn't see them. Holding his left hand out he would smile. "Well there you have it, Meilin be dancing away with a dark blue haired jacked man."

She wanted to come back with some sort of a clever response to his jest but she found herself a little lost for words as he took her hand and pulled her along. She watched as he led her to the dancing hall, a flurry of people passing on either side of them as they would move into a room that was much wider, featured far less tables to get in the way, and had a live band of some sort. When Madoc talked about the man's arms the shorter Aoi couldn't help but to try and see what he was talking about. She rose on her toes and tried to spot them over the other people dancing but to no avail. She let out a defeated sigh, "I can't see them." she said as he continued to lead her on. He stopped and turned and offer his left hand to her which she took quickly. She knew little of dancing, but she was pretty sure she could fake it well enough if Madoc knew what he was doing.

She raised an eyebrow in question as she moved a little closer to him like the people around them, "You know what you're doing right? Because I don't." she admitted with a small apologetic smile as her gaze moved to the side. She caught sight of Meilin and the mysterious man and nodded her head in agreement with Madoc's earlier statement, "Very large.", she hoped it wouldn't make Madoc feel conscious of himself.

"You can't? Well Meilin looks so out of place, they looked like they were having fun though." he said as she took his hand and proceeded to tell him she had no clue what she was doing. Smiling he would nod his head. "Place your left hand on my right shoulder but let it relax there." he said cupping his hand at her left shoulder blade. "Then it's simple." he said as he took a left step. "You try to match my movements. You go left. Forward. Right and back." he explained doing each step as he said them. He would then do the same steps this time without informing her.

Aoi nodded as she'd follow his instructions, placing her left hand on his right shoulder and letting it hang in place instead of grabbing at it. She listened and found herself staring at their feet as he walked through the movements. Left. Forward. Right. Back. She was pretty sure she could handle that. When Madoc began to do them as he said them she stepped left and found herself awkwardly far away from him, she stopped moving almost instantly as she was obviously not getting some fundamentally important part of what he was saying, "Are you sure? I Think this is wrong." she said as she would move herself back to their starting position.

Her fumble was his error, he forgot to explain that's the steps for the one leading."Well for the one leading it's those steps. The one following would reverse them, probably should have mentioned that.. So if I'm leading and going to the left. You would be going to the right. As I go forward you back. Just the same as me but reversed. Lets try it again." Madoc said as he would do the steps slowly at first then picked it up slightly.

She smiled a little at how very easy it was to fuck up something so simple and nodded again, "Alright I get that, it's kind of like…" she seemed to hold back a snicker before continuing, "Like my feet are running from your feet." her smile grew a little as she would follow along, unable to keep the image that she was running away from his feet as they tried to step on hers from lingering at the front of her mind. She bit her tongue, a metallic taste filling her mouth after only a few moments as she was choking back tears from the incessant and childish thought. Finally able to get it to leave her she would bring her view back up from their feet with a little bit of confidence in her voice, "I think I've got it this time…" she raised a questioning brow at the Yamanaka, "This is not something I would have expected," her voice trailed off as she found her gaze to be a little too intent on him, "How do you know how to do this?"

She was picking it up fast enough even with the goofy thought about her feet running from his. Yet it was a good enough example he supposed. As she grew more comfortable with the steps he nodded but titled his head as it wasn't what she expected. The dance? Then she voiced what it was and it was how did he know how to do this. "My mother taught me. Told me I would need to know incase I ever got married. Women like a man who can dance is what she would always say." He said with a chuckle as they would continue the small steps, as he wondered slightly if he should throw her for a loop. "Hey real fast. With your left hand, clutch my shoulder." He asked and once he felt her grip, he would instantly dip her. Looking down at her as he supported her with his right arm he would bring her back up. "And that was about as exciting as the dance really ever gets."

She would need to ask a bit more about his mother someday. She seemed rather a large figure in his life from what she'd seen at his house and now from his knowledge in dancing. She was smiling pleasantly as he spoke, enjoying the simple movements of the dance, but the smile would turn into a thin one when he told her to hold on, "Why....? she asked a bit suspicious as she tightened her grip anyway. When he dipped her down she was sure she was going to land flat on her back and made a small scream that gained the attention of some of the nearby couples long enough for her to realize she was the reason they were looking. With Madoc's right arm supporting her she would be quickly lifted back up. Her face was on fire as she was now starkly aware of the people that were still looking their way, "You need to warn me about things like that!" she whispered to him as they picked up their dancing, "I wouldn't have made any noise if you'd warned me!". She wanted to offer apologies to those around her but by the time she had taken her eyes off the Yamanaka no one was paying attention to them anymore.

She didn't question the blessing and turned back to him, "So what then," she asked a little annoyed, "Aren't we here to sp-- Watch Meilin?"

As she let out the scream he had to resist laughing as she gained some of the nearby attention of the couples, before they would resume dancing while Aoi laid into him about warning her. "But I did. I told you to clutch my shoulder. Would have fell if I didn't." He said with a rather smartass smile as she wanted to say werent they here to spy on Meilin but instead choose watch. "Mmhmm. Watch. "Madoc said with a raised eyebrow as he looked through the gathering of people. "I mean I saw it, they looked awkwardly adorable. So far you are the only one missing out. But fine take about…." he stopped for a moment as he looked behind her and debated the math in his head. "six steps back and resume the dance from there."

She wanted to protest that being told to hold on wasn't a very good warning but at this point the act was done and no one seemed to care anymore but her. With his agreement that they were in fact there to watch Meilin she perked up a little, even if somewhere she felt a small amount of pain at the fact they had only come to watch their team leader dance with an unknown man, she was at least getting to dance a little with Madoc as a bonus. She nodded excitedly and clutched a little at his shoulder, quickly releasing it as she realized that was against the rules or something and let her hand relax as he talked about how he had seen them both and that she was currently the only one unable to see it in all its glory. Aoi abruptly stepped into Madoc when he stopped dancing, rebounding slightly off of him she stayed up as they weren't moving fast enough to throw her off balance, but she was a little confused he had stopped at all. She looked at him raising an eyebrow but not questioning his directions when he gave them.

Counting each step in her mind she'd stop on six and wait for Madoc to continue the dance as she would peer around, "Where exactly?" she asked him.

Letting out a oof when she collided into him, he would chuckle before she would do as he said and move back six paces. Resuming the dance they had he gazed around trying to spot them and sure enough he could make out the two in between gaps. When she would ask him he would motion with his head. "Towards the left side corner. Nearest to the fat man." Madoc said softly as he really debated not even informing her of a dip but knew she would smack the shit out of him and possibly fall, which would blow their cover. As he watched the two Madoc still looked confused. "Seriously what does that guy do? Those arms are bigger than me." Madoc mumbled again before focusing on Aoi.

She followed his gaze and the motion of his head to try and spot the two. When she heard Madoc talking about the size of the man's arms she began to snicker a little until she finally caught a glimpse of him, "Jealous?" she asked with a devilish grin as she had to admit, the man was rather large and it was obviously getting to the infallible Madoc. As they danced she wondered what the two might have been talking about, what someone could possibly entertain Meilin's focus on long enough at something like this to get her to agree to dance. Aoi had some ideas but all of them had something to do with Shinobi life or Chonobi things that she knew little about. "Hmmm" she hummed as she turned her gaze back on Madoc, she tightened her grip a little and grinned. There wasn't much they could really figure out from where they were, and since Madoc seemed to have enjoyed it earlier maybe she'd give it a try where she wouldn't scream.

When she asked if he was jealous, he would look once more and then back to her. "Oh me? Nah bet I have more muscles than….. No… No I don't." he admitted in defeat as he would stop focusing on them and started to think they should get going soon as they were requested to meet up soon enough anyway. When he felt her clutch his shoulder causing him to smirk as he looked her in the eyes. "Alright but no screaming this time. Otherwise we have some explaining to do." Madoc would warn her giving her a couple of seconds before he would dip her once more supporting her with his right arm as he looked down at her with a sly smile. "You seem to enjoy putting yourself in dangerous positions with me." Madoc said before lifting her back up.

Aoi's smile only grew as it became that much more obvious Madoc was feeling a little emasculated by Meilin's mystery man. "Ooooh Madoooooc." she cooed to him as his pride was obviously hurt. With Madoc saying that she couldn't scream she would nod her head eagerly before she felt herself dropping once more. The sensation sent her heart racing and when she rose back up she was laughing softly, a warm red covering her cheeks as she was having a bit more fun than intended on their spying mission. She gave him a scoff at his comment, and nodded her head to agree she did seem to enjoy dangerous things with him,"And you're obviously hurt by Meilin's friends size." she countered before continuing, "Big muscles aren't everything you know?" she would think a moment, "He's probably making up for other," she managed a wink, "shortcomings.".

Did she just ooooh him? Oh he should have dropped her, mostly when she made her next comment he stammered a bit and nodded his head. "Well played." he said before her next comment felt like a weak attempt at comforting, so when she made a joke that worked much better than simple words of what she probably thought he wanted to hear. "Ahhh mean humor. The best medicine in the world, might I say. Very impressed, didn't think you could throw a mean zinger like that. So since were here, what do you think of our newest team members? Dea and Dagrun? I personally feel very threatened by the high number of females on this team."

Her smile remained as he complimented her on her humor. She was feeling rather proud of her joke, and was a little happy it seemed to work to comfort Madoc at least a little, "Sometimes I've got it in me for that sort of a thing." she said victoriously. She continued to dance and listen to what he was saying about their new team members, the two Chonobi girls that had suddenly been thrust upon them not long ago. She shook her head softly, "It's hard to say. Too early you know?" she was lying. She was more than a little uncomfortable with more Chonobi being added to the team, "Okay not exactly." she said with an apologizing smile.

She looked around to make sure they weren't near by for some reason before placing her gaze back on Madoc, "I'm afraid. Uncomfortable I guess?" she seemed unsure of herself, "I mean I had to burn down a temple and that still didn't get the simple trust I deserved out of Meilin…." she didn't want to think of what it would take to gain the simple respect everyone deserved from the two new additions. She perked up a little, "Although maybe it won't be too bad with Dea..."

So she wasn't comfortable around them, which made sense yet it also seemed like a trust thing. He understood that sentiment, Meilin did simply expect them to trust her while giving hardly any in return. Hopefully that would change though, he didn't like being wrong about those situations. Yet effectively the ball was in Meilin's corner. "I understand what you mean, they may not be horrible though. Dea is young she can learn from you…. Maybe. Dagrun however….. Unsure, seems like she would be a bitch. Yet in a good way if that makes sense. Eh hopefully Meilin hasn't told my mind reader thing to them yet. It's starting to not become a secret." Madoc said with a sigh

"So I get the trust thing, since I trusted you two with it and it was forcibly told to those Sworn Shits, and while your brother is cool. I rather not have my abilities told to every child. So hopefully she will let me determine if they can know about my Mind Reader myself."

Aoi was more than a little happy Madoc seemed to at least share similar fears as her for the two new additions. She raised an eyebrow as they danced, "Dea can learn from me?" she wondered to him, not entirely sure what she was supposed to teach in the first place, she snickered a little when he stated he thought Dagrun would likely be a bitch, "I'd maybe use a different set of words but I can see that, I'm afraid she won't like me, you a little less, but me for sure. She's another older Chonobi, I doubt she has any reason to do anything more than tolerate me." she sighed.

The part about the telling of his mind reader technique twice by Meilin now did make her feel a little bit responsible, at least for the fact her little brother knew even if the reason was completely out of her hands, "Sorry about that, Miko will probably tell people. But he doesn't have many friends, and he won't be very good at explaining it other than something about a guy he met being able to read minds." She said trying to reassure him. "It'll have to be said eventually though, no?" as much as she may distrust two new members suddenly thrust upon the team, it wasn't beyond her reasoning to understand that at some point they'd need to be let in on the secret.

She seemed confused by what he said as he himself tried to figure it out as well. "Like…..I don't know just accept the compliment! We are not having another Kimono situation." Madoc said while seemingly weighing his options on called Dagrun a bitch. "Hmmmm I don't know. Beaten by her could be one of the better ways to die. Yet I don't think I'll be calling anyone of you women a bitch….. Maybe. Yet who knows, use that Aoi charm wiggle your way in and see what makes her tick."

She would go on to apologize in advance as she stated Miko would probably tell the other boys his age, granted he would do it poorly. He figured as much and her saying it would have to be said eventually only made him frown as he looked at the floor. "Probably, rather it be by my choice though. I kept things a secret for that very reason." Madoc said with a slight sigh as she wasn't wrong, he probably would have to tell those two eventually if it wasn't already said.

She stepped a bit too quickly and almost caught his feet as they danced, a small noise escaping her as she corrected the mistake quickly, "Sorry." she said quietly as she continued to listen to him, "Thanks. For the compliment." she said still just as confused as before about what she'd be teaching Dea. It could be anything, fighting styles, jutsu, that not all Taika were terrible human beings to look down upon. The possibilities were all there, it was more a matter of which she'd jump at first. As he spoke about Dagrun and his choice to use the word bitch she couldn't help but to worry for his sanity and more importantly his health, "You did say it first, you're completely surrounded. I'd shy away from such words if possible." she said nodding her head as if giving wise words. She shook her head in agreement to his want to give up his own technique, "I think that'd be for the best… I can… I can talk to Meilin about it if you want? Just bring it up casually?" she offered before his words from before seemed to connect in her mind.

"And what was that supposed to mean? My charm?" she whispered accusingly as he seemed to be implying that she was good at getting herself into yelling matches with others like during the mission in Hanaguro.

Even though she took the compliment out of forced obligation, he would give a smile. "See? Much simpler to just say thank you at random compliments. Not like I'm trying to sneak my way into your pants. " Madoc stated before giving a shrug, honestly he figured that he was going to have to be very select with his words. They were all different people with differing taste in humor. If anything Dagrun would probably enjoy his I don't give a shit humor most, yet now they had a child on the team. Did he have to watch what he said now around her? Was he allowed to swear? When she asked if he wanted her to talk to Meilin for him he just shook his head. "No need. She gives away my secret, I give away hers. My secret anyone can learn, hers is a clan secret~" Madoc would state with a sly smile.

As she yelled at him about what he meant by her charm, he smirked and would halt their dance as he pulled her in closer to him. Smiling down at her, "You know what I mean." Madoc said before pulling away with another devious smile as he resumed their dance.

Aoi felt a slight blush returning to her with Madoc's suggestive comment as her heart began to pick up its pace, "You better not be." she said quietly. The fact he wanted to talk to Meilin should have been obvious, she wasn't anything for him, and she certainly didn't represent him in anything they did. She didn't laugh about him telling her that he'd give away a clan secret of Meilin's if she gave away his, especially with the difference in the level of both of their secrets. She thought a little on it and was suddenly feeling even worse about the whole incident of telling her younger brother their jutsu.

Being pulled in close caught her off guard, she felt her face getting warm and had to direct her gaze away from him before looking back up as he spoke, "I don't--" she wasn't sure what this must have looked like to the people dancing around them, "I don't think you're supposed to get this close in these sort of dances!" she protested with a small smile before being sent back from him and continuing the dance. She shot a glance around and was able to breathe a sigh of relief when no one seemed to be staring at them like when she had screamed earlier. Turning back to Madoc she'd continue the simple dance, "Do you think we should get going soon?" she asked as the party appeared to be dying down around them, "I mean, I don't--" she fumbled on her words as she realized it might come off as though she didn't want to dance anymore, "I want to keep dancing but..." she nodded at a small group of people that appeared to be leaving.

"I have more class than to try and weasel my way there. You wound me Aoi." Madoc would state feigning pain before he caught her off guard with the sudden pull in. Where she would proceed to say that they shouldn't be this close in dances such as these. "Oh? Nothing wrong with a romantic dance.~ In fact for one dance being that close is a must. Maybe I'll teach you it one day." Madoc said with a smile before realizing what that sounded like.

"Like I'm not kidding… that wasn't meant to sound…. Wow that alcohol is hitting alright." Madoc mumbled to himself as she asked if they should stop due to everyone starting to slowly leave. Looking around at the various couple leaving he would smirk and chuckle a bit. "Well we can, after all Meilin and that mystery guy seemed to have left apparently." Madoc said with a motion with his head to where their team leader use to be.

She tightened her grip slightly as he continued to joke, "Right right." she managed out with a smile as her heart continued to pick up. He wanted to teach her a dance? A particularly romantic one at that? She shot the idea down in her mind. He was drunk, nothing more. He didn't mean what he was saying. "Seems for once I'm not the drunk one." she teased as she peer around to see that Meilin and her mystery man had left as well. "Alright, we should get going then." she said as she would slip her hand from his shoulder and away from him but keep her other in his hand as she'd lead him away. She would lead them to the area that had been turned into a temporary coat area and would turn to him, "Now stay right here. I don't need you wandering off into Magnhild, and definitely not without a coat." she said a little sternly as she would turn to the attendants at the coat area.

She returned shortly later, happy to find Madoc still waiting and handed him his coat as she put hers own, "Lead the way home then, Madoc." she smirked out, wondering if the drunk Madoc could possibly get them back to their hotel on a route that even she was barely sure of.

"Who me? Pffft I don't get drunk I get tipsy." Madoc said as she would stop dancing yet continue leading him out of the hall and to where all their coats were. It was amusing as she started telling him much like a mother would to stay put while she found their coats. Giving a thumbs up he would whistle as he rocked back and forth, while taking the chance to grab a drink from a passing server and down it real fast before Aoi got back. "Oh…. I'm going to regret that one in the morning…. Yep. That was Bloody Victory.. Well played you Tokugawa dicks." Madoc said pounding his chest.

As Aoi arrived back handing him his jacket, he would put it on before giving her a look at him having to lead them home. "I could do that in my sleep." Madoc proclaimed as he walked to the door opening it to the outside where a cold breeze smacked him in the face. Shaking his head he would look around. "..... Okay so….. I may not be the best with directions while intoxicated." Madoc said with a playful smile as he would lean his arm on her. "So I trust you to….. What's the word… Escort! Escort us home safely oh blue haired maiden."

"You sure?" she joked before he opened the door. The bite of the cold caused her to ease back away from the door before she'd pull the collar of her coat a bit closer to her neck. She breathed a warm breath into her hands and managing a laugh as Madoc admitted he probably couldn't get them back to the hotel. His arm sudden to at her shoulder she'd slip in a bit close and place one arm behind his back and the other around his stomach, her hands meeting together at his flank to keep him up. "I can get us back. I think." she laughed out as he called her a maiden.

Beginning to walk forward she'd lead him along as she took in the Keep. The entry had been one thing, but leaving in the dark? There were lanterns strung up along the main avenue to the Keep, Magnhild City Guard lined the walkway on either side of them and spaced about equally down the road every so often their armor was accented by that of a pair of Sworn Swords in their silver plate glinting in the lantern light. She wondered how cold they probably were and felt a little bad. They probably had switched out at some point. She hoped they had. As they passed out of the main gate of the Keep and into the city they would be whipped by a gust of cold air and snow. She pulled herself a little closer to Madoc, "It's a beautiful city, isn't it?" she asked as they started the ought the city.

When she wrapped her arms around him he would look down at the smaller woman and snicker. "You know…. I'm not at the point where I need help standing just yet. But by all means keep hugging me." Madoc said whistling as she would lead them a fair bit through the lantern light pathway. Guards on standby for various reasons. Some of the influential leaders still were at the feast, while some were probably stationed just to remind people to not do anything stupid.

As they got into the city she would pull herself in closer to him while asking if the city was as beautiful as she thought it was. Staring at her for a bit he would look around before looking back to her. "You want the truth, lie, or flirt option?"

Trying to steal as much warmth from the Yamanaka as she could Aoi would notice he was staring at her after her question and reach a hand up to push his face away when he looked back for a second time. She snickered and turned her gaze to watch the road as it stretched out into the city before them, "Can I get all three again?" she asked, a little hint of excitement evident in her voice. She was pretty sure it was a bit of a walk to their hotel, and if they could shorten it with little things like this she wouldn't mind the cold too much.

Moving his face right back to look after she pushed it away, she would request all three to which he chuckled. "Oh? Now who told you about the special deal going out on all three?" Madoc would joke before rubbing the side of his face. "The lie is, no the city looks worse than the Pink District in Hanaguro. The truth is that it has its beauty I will give it that much. The flirt one is that I can't focus on the city when there is a stunning beauty right next to me."

"Is that so?" she snickered as he stated that the special was out only to answer all three anyway. To say that the city was uglier than the Pink District was the obvious lie, there were surely places worse than there, but Magnhild wasn't among them. Then he stated it had its beauty which was true, the alpine landscape and tiered nature of the city definitely leant it its charm. The flirt made her heart skip, she smirked and smiled, "Hmmmm" she pretended to think for a moment as she searched the people around her, peering half-heartedly over the women that were around them, some simply going about their business and others obviously having just left the party as well, "So which one is it? The beauty that is?" she joked.

Nodding in response she would seem to think a moment on what he said as she would look at all the other women that were around. Asking which one it was, the beauty as she would put it. "Well clearly it's me. There is a reason I'm not allowed to wear suits. Very dangerous. Makes everyone swoon, even guys." Madoc said with a wink as she knew what he meant but he wasn't going to be that generous now.

"So what are the odds that we get a free day tomorrow? Cause oh boy. I don't remember the first half of this night at all. I remember awkward meet up with empress lady, more women outnumbering me and teaching you to dance while spying on Meilin and her man hunk."

"What…?" she began before his words truly hit her. She clutched tightly at him as she began to laugh at his joke, so terrible that it had been funny she would press her face into her own coat to try and lessen the sound. After a good bit of laughing she would bring her face from her coat and back into the cold of the Magnhild air, "You're truly something else." she said as if repeating something they both knew. She shook her head as they walked and noticed a small vendors stall selling more alcohol in the night, the vendor sitting next to a small bucket fire as he sold his drinks, she quietly thought about stopping but didn't want to end up in the same position as Madoc in the morning, "That's honestly a very good question. I guess it depends..." she remembered Dagrun and Dea, and for a brief moment was alright with what she was about to say before the irony of it struck her, "I guess it depends on how quickly Meilin wants to make the new Chonobi feel accepted."

Smiling happily at her response to his joke, he would do a really poor bow as she had hold of him. "That went better in my head." was his excuse as she would guess that it all depended on how fast Meilin wanted the two new Chonobi girls to feel welcomed. "Oh… Well then that Bloody Victory I had as you got the coats is really gonna bite me in the morning. Shit I must be part Hanta with how much the Tokugawa just fucked me." he said snorting at his own joke as he poked her side. "Get it?" he said with suppressed laughter.

"Well good news! You all get to see what a hung-over Madoc is like! Bad news. You will be missing my words of wisdom for most of the day."

"Always do." she agreed when he said the joke was better in his head. His second attempt at being funny about the Tokugawa and the Hanta had less of an effect on her, but the fact he had sncuk a drink while she was getting the coats caused her to smirk, "I should have known you'd do something like that while I wasn't looking..." she smiled, "That's what I get for babying you I guess." she shrugged as best she could with her arms wrapped around him only to jolt slightly away as he poked her in the side, a small laugh escaping her lips as the touch tickled just a bit, "I get it!" she proclaimed through a bit more laughter.

They were nearing a large square that she definitely remembered, so at the very least they were on the right track back to the hotel, "I'm looking forward to hung-over Madoc in honesty." she turned her gaze up to him with a devious smile, "Means we won't have to put up with your annoying talk as much I guess." she said as she would retaliate for earlier and press a knuckle into his side.

He pointed at himself like he was surprised she thought he would sneak a drink. "I am a good man. I think after a hard day of not calling a noble a dick, that I can have as many drinks as I want. Besides. I ain't the one hugging a drunk man for warmth. How aggressive of you." he would tease as she would squirm slightly at his poke. "I have to make sure. Not everyday I drop gold lines like that." Madoc said wagging his finger as if it was a fact.

Although he now wondered if he should take her next comment as a joking insult. "Oh sweetie. Ain't nothing in this world that can stop that. I could be lobotomized and I would still find a way to annoy each and every one of you. How else am I supposed to show I care?"

She rolled her eyes at how he would always be able to annoy them and was happy he couldn't see her face where she was as she did. They passed into the center of the square and Aoi stopped in her tracks, keeping him close so as to not lose her grip on him in case he accidentally kept walking. She gazed between the four streets that branched off of the square ahead of them and struggled to remember which was the right one, "I think it's that one." she said as she freed a hand to point quickly before lacing it back into her fingers on the side of Madoc. She swallowed as they kept walking, the idea that they were probably about to be lost in a Chonobi city beginning to creep to the front of her mind. She swallowed again and tightened her grip for a moment as anxiety began to take root, "What do we do if we get lost?" she asked nervously as she led them down the road.

She would point towards what she assumed was right and he would look at her and shrug. "Sounds good to me B- Oh yeah! I can use sensory!" Madoc said snorting as he basically answered her question. "Well we can cry. Until someone tells us in Taika where to go. Or freeze to death. One of those options." he said as he would use his sensory to find where Meilin's chakra signature was and sure enough Aoi was on the right path. "You are right on your guess! Also Meilin is already back."

"I like the freezing to death option." she joked as he seemed to remember that he could just use sensory and figure out where they needed to go rather easily. She tilted her head and waited a moment as he seemed to search for what she could only guess was Meilin and confirmed that she was indeed on the right track. Her heart sank a little. "Great, we'll be there pretty quick then." she smiled up at him as she moved him down the road and toward the familiar Inn a bit farther ahead. There were still people out and about even at this hour of the night, and the Inn appeared to be disgorging people into the street as they approached, likely it was time to close the pub part of the place. She stopped and kept Madoc tied in her arms as she did, watching the patrons of the place as most of them exited in drunken stupors, "Well it was fun while it lasted." she said with a small sigh, "Thanks." Aoi unwrapped her arms from him and looked up a moment, a small smile adorning her face, "For the dance, it was nice."

"Oh that's not true. I could fall and break my leg, you could fall and break your leg while I fail miserably tom understand what gripping is again. I could also be lying and be so far from Meilin that we would take an hour to get there. We could get mugged, I could get stolen by some woman swooned over by my suit. You could be stolen by some man who likes himself some pretty Taika women. Lots and lots of ways this could not be quick." He explained in detail as he looked up at the building. "I could also be horribly wrong." he said with a shrug as she would go on to thank him for the dance to which he stared at her. "It was a simple dance, now if you want a real dance. That requires more personal contact…. Again not what it sounds like. The dance it… It's a very close dance…. " Madoc said fumbling over his words as he looked at the building. "Well can't wait to be dying internally in the morning. We should probably get inside. Cause I'm not sure if you know…. But it's really fuckin cold."

Aoi allowed herself a small smile when he went over a list of absurd happenings that could have kept them from the inn, although the part about him simply lying did strike her as something she'd need to make sure she was vigilant of in the future. When he seemed to offer a more personal dance, or at least lessons in it she couldn't help but laugh a little as he seemed to fumble over his thoughts, she shook her head as she continued to giggle a little, "I get what you mean Madoc." she said reassuringly before he brought up the fact it was rather cold out. She thought for a moment that she should maybe do something, a better thank you for the dance or the words he had for her. She shuffled in her spot, swayed slightly forward and reached out.

She took his forearm and turned for the inn dragging him along behind her, "Can't keep Meilin waiting all night for us. She'll think we're lost." she said, happy with the strength in her voice as she bit her tongue and stepped inside.[/spoili][/fieldbox]

[ Amegakure ]

{A collab between Inzane and Jason}

Summary:
Following the mission and Ryu's critical mistake and subsequent demotion, Ryu catches up to Mitsunari to try to discuss what went wrong.

[spoili]
The girl stood in a stunned silence for a few moments as the team slowly dispersed. Feeling a firm kick to the gut, with first having hurt that poor little boy and then being demoted just one mission after she'd thought she was finally making people proud. That horrible moment she heard the poor boy cry out stuck firmly in the girl's mind, making her wonder how many more people she'd hurt who didn't deserve it. She wanted to do nothing more right now than go home, curl up, and cry. Be angry at herself for being such an idiot. Yet she also knew she would get nowhere like that.

Taking a deep breath, Ryu ran in the direction Mitsunari had headed off towards. It wouldn't take her long to catch up to her new teacher, moving to walk just to his right and slightly behind him. "Uhm. Riojin-Sensei? I know I'm probably the last person you want to be bothered by at the moment, but I was wondering if you might have a moment to talk." She said quickly, keeping her gaze towards the ground to try to hide her frustration with herself.

He could already sense the numerous complaints that would be piling up on his desk, repercussions that would happen after another shinobi incident has happened. He would need to do something to, least the civilians revolt again. Something he didn't want happening as all the blame would fall solely upon his shoulders. He was going to have to compensate that one family for the medical expenses as well. Thankfully she didn't throw anything bigger.

Yet as she came across his mind, so did her voice as he took a deep breath in and exhaled. Looking back at her he would remain silent for a brief moment before nodding. "If it's going to be you trying to get your previous rank back, then no. Yet speak. Better to have this talk now than later I suppose." Mitsunari said to the smaller woman as his eyes glanced down the road to see that the scene had cleared out.

Ryu simply shook her head. "I don't care about that rank right now. I hurt an innocent little boy, that's the problem. Besides being stupid and throwing my shuriken there, I feel like I made alot of mistakes during our mission. That's what I wanted to talk about. To try to figure out what I did wrong and how to work on them. I'm tired of being a burden." She said quietly, looking up towards Mitsunari to see if he would be willing to talk with her about that.

"I also want to know if there is a way to contact that little boy's family. They deserve first and apology, then I want to try to make it up to them for what I did." She added, hoping her sensei would have some way to find out. She fell into silence once more as she waited on Mitsunari.

It was good she didn't care about the rank, saved him from having to deal with any rank hungry talk. Instead she wanted to know what she did wrong to which he rubbed his forehead as he stopped walking and looked at her. "Well first things first. You gave your captive quite the nice treatment at the start which is all fine and dandy. Yet you took your aggression out on him when Kona's was taunting you three. So you were giving someone unwarranted behavior, which only seemed to increase as time went on."

Turning around fully now to look at her with quite the serious expression. "So say you were in that man's shoes. You are cooperating the best you can and had nice treatment at the start. Then all of a sudden you start getting handled like a ragdoll, handled roughly, shoved, you get the point. Would you want to escape? Would you think 'Is this only going to get worse in jail?' So you handled that entire situation poorly."

He wanted to stop there but she would ask about the boy and if he had anyway to contact the family to which he held his hand up. "Think about that Ryu…. You stabbed their son. Even on accident, with shuriken. You know the public opinion on us shinobi is low, doing that only furthers hatred to us. So can I contact them? Yes, you however will not talk to them…. Which brings us to the main problem. You need to survey a situation like that much better. I saw you used your sharigan, yet think about this. You have one eye, your depth perception is worse, and you can only predict what you see. Even if you think you can avoid harming citizens, you don't know if someone is hiding where you can't see them."

"Omari-San's captive… got to me." Ryu admitted sheepishly. "He said those things about what happened with Sugu and I just got mad." She explained, although she suspected Mitsunari already knew why she had changed her behavior. As Mitsunari started to explain everything that she did wrong, the girl nodded along with it. "I would probably want to escape, because I imagine that Prison is a really nasty place, and I probably would have been desperate in his position as well." She said, shifting awkwardly as she stood in the rain.

"How do you block all that out? When they're trying to get to you? I wanted to ignore him but it just… I don't even know. I know I shouldn't have let it get to me but it did." Ryu said, annoyed at the fact she had let the words of one of those murderers get to her so easily. She then focused on what Mitsunari was explaining about the boy, and Ryu's eye went wide. "But! I want to try to help them, to try to make up for my mistake!" She tried to argue before looking a bit defeated. "So I'm just supposed to not say anything after I hurt some innocent boy?" She asked, clearly unhappy with the fact she wouldn't get a chance to at least apologize.

Then he moved on to the main issue, and Ryu's cheeks colored in embarrassment. She'd been relying on her Sharingan, assumed that she wouldn't miss anything. He was right however, about her having only one eye. After a few moments of silence, she finally spoke up once more. "Can you help me, Riojin-Sensei? With learning how to adapt and handle situations like that?" She asked suddenly, hoping he would be willing to help her.

She wanted to know how he blocked it all out? Well there was no true way to block it out. "Simple you can't. Unless you deafen yourself or gag them, those words will sink in and try to do their damage. So you learn to deal with it. Gag them or whatever but even if they lose, if you strike back at their words then in the end only you truly lose. So relax yourself take some classes on self peace, meditate. Whatever it takes to keep your anger to yourself. So yes, you are suppose to not say a word to that family. You think they want to hear excuses from the girl who stabbed their son?" Mitsunari more so demanded then stated, as he didn't want her even attempting to contact that family.

Then she requested his assistance to adapt and handle situations like that, to which he raised an eyebrow. "Thats a broad subject but I can certainly help. Yet that's something I will be drilling with the team as you all need to know how to adapt and handle certain situations."

The Uchiha nodded, she didn't like it but she understood why he didn't want her to try to see the family. Still it upset her, she wanted to be able to do something. Then hearing what he said about training with the teams, she sighed slightly. Relieved that there would be some help in one of the weaker aspects. "Thank you. For the meetings and talking with me. I think I might look into meditation, to try to stop the problem with their words getting to me. Is… is there anything else you can think of that I should work on? I don't want to be a burden to your team." She said, wanting to focus on where she had to improve to help out more. Then another thought entered her mind. "How would you have recaptured him, if you were in my shoes sensei?" She asked suddenly, wanting to know how somebody else might've tackled the problem.

Well whatever she did to not stab civilians would be amazing, if it was meditation then meditate all day if you had too. He was about to start walking away when she asked how he would have captured the man again. He mentally sighed "By waiting for the right time. If that means waiting minutes, hours or even days. " Mitsunari would state as that was the obvious answer. They couldn't rush into these kind of situations, not now especially. With the tension already so high and now bound to be higher. He was probably looking at a revolt right in front of his eyes. "For now go home and in the future be more careful. If I have to confiscate your gear as well I will. Now go home Ryu. I have matters that have to be dealt with as soon as possible." Mitsunari stated not giving her a chance to speak back as he started walking away. He did have to deal with matters quick, this event would spread and if it wasn't smothered out, then he risked another revolt breaking out.

Her cheeks flushed with color at Mitsunari's response, feeling as if that were an obvious answer that she should've known. Ryu let out a long sigh after muttering a brief apology to Mitsunari before turning to head back home. Part of her still hurting over how she'd messed up, and worse injured that poor little boy. Yet Ryu also felt a determination inside. Determination to ensure she wouldn't hurt anybody else like that again. To be useful to her team, and to those in her city. Though she wasn't sure which voice to listen to, shaking her head she decided she would talk with Eiji once she got home. He always seemed to know the right path.[/spoili][/fieldbox]

[fieldbox=Meeting again, wheat]
In Magnhild,
During the Feast.

A relative short collab between Oetje and Gerontis.

Summary:
Meilin meets Koike and the two briefly interact. Meilin requests for a training as for how Hideki is doing. Even despite Koike answer, there is some doubt but the two leave to head their own ways shortly afterwards.

[spoili]
Meilin wondered if Aoi, Madoc, Dea or Dagrún were still around. She wagered that it was almost time to head back. Tomorrow would be a busy day, she imagined. With the whole introductions, Meilin wanted to see if she could get some training done. To see what both Dagrún and Dea were capable off.
Just when she was about to take her leave, Meilin noticed a familiar face. Coming to a halt, she watched the young man. The various scars that were featured on his face could only belong to one person. Or so that was what she thought. The only matter that confused was that this person was supposed to be on the eastern continent. So what was Koike doing here?
"Koike?" Meilin didn't dare to loudly shout the name but did slightly raise her voice as she approached the young man.

Taking a sip of his glass, Koike was somewhat glad that most people left him to his own devices. Some had recognised him and knew of his position and lineage. But he wasn't that political important to be approached by too many. Hearing his name, Koike would turn around. Spotting Meilin, which made it evident that he was surprised to see her. "Well, if it isn't one of the next greatest swordfighter of the realm." He said, a grin flowing on his lips. "I didn't know you would be around. Good to see you again Meilin."

Flashing a friendly smile, she would over a small bow, gracefully bending through her legs before straightening her back.
"It is good to see you as well. I thought you were sent to the eastern continent. Or is that campaign already done and over?" Meilin asked. Would that mean that Hideki was also back? Or those two friends that Koike had introduced to her?

"No, I am briefly gone for a meeting. Then after a day or two, I will be gone back to the east." Koike replied. He had the question on his lips to ask how she had managed up in a feast like the current one. "But how have you been doing lately?"

"I have been doing rather well. Lately been in charge of a team myself. They are a good bunch." Meilin started, feeling a certain pride swelling.
"I got two newcomers. A chuunin and a genin. Just met them today and tomorrow will start training with them both. After all, I can't yet slip on what you have taught me."

She was leading her own team these days? He was surprised but in a pleasant sense. "Really? I knew you had some talent in you but already leading a team? Congratulations. In no time, you might not even need any training from me." He joked. "Even being assigned a genin. Does that mean you're now above a chuunin?" Koike decided to ask.

"Heh. It makes it a bit easier that they are quite cooperative. But thank you," Meilin couldn't wipe the smile from her lips after her answer.
The question if she had been promoted caused Meilin to lightly shake her head, already as a response.
"No. I haven't yet been further promoted. Honestly, I am a bit nervous about how I am supposed to mentor a genin. It isn't like I was the most accomplished or one to serve as a great example. Perhaps," Meilin placed her hands behind her back.
"You have some tips for me?"

He could relate to a team that wouldn't work against one's leadership and orders. His mind almost went to Saki and Katsu but Koike wouldn't allow himself to think about them, not now. "I imagine that you will get promoted. If there wasn't any trust for you then you wouldn't have gained two more members. Certainly not a genin, that is." Koike replied on his turn. When she asked him for some tips, Koike briefly thought about it. "I would say to try to keep your own confidence up. Nobody likes to follow an indecisive leader. When you make a decision, try to understand the situation as good as possible. Acknowledge your mistakes and learn from them. But," a faint smile flowed on Koike's lips, "I take that is granted. If anything, try to attend to your team's needs when possible. You got to be able to trust them and making it possible for them to put their trust in you."

Listening to the words of the young man in front of her, Meilin subtly nodded to indicate that was listening intently. She thought about her prior decisions as the leader of the team. It brought once more up the confrontation that had occurred in Hanaguro. But Meilin wouldn't feel as bad as she once did. She had spent time with both Aoi and Madoc. And things seemed to be quite alright with them three. Hopefully, this would continue with Dea and Dagrún becoming part of the team as well.
"Thanks. I appreciate your advice a lot. I do have some way to go." She added, considering her next question already. "Perhaps we could have a training soon? If you have some time, that is."

"You are welcome Meilin. I wish that I was more around to provide some help." Was Koike's initial reply. "Hmmm," considering his plans, he had a meeting with Kiyomi and Zakito tomorrow. A shadow clone could suffice while he would see what Aiko desired him to join with her team. Then there was also the plan he had in the evening.
"Meet me at the Field of Valdar around in the afternoon. I will make some time to help you train."

"Really? I would love that. Thanks," A broad smile dawned on her lips as she made a small bow with her head.
"How is Hideki doing? I reckon that a military campaign is no joke." Meilin inquired, remembering her last interaction with Hideki.

For a moment, Koike's expression became blank. He didn't want to think of it. It was dark. The sound of steel clashing as people were dying left and right. The air was filled with the stink of fire, sweat and ash. The most that got to him was the scream of Saki. The rage that had almost consumed her. Blinking rapidly, Koike's lips parted as a wry smile appeared on his lips.
"He is like the others. Doing his best. Just," Koike paused for a moment, "We are having a bit of a rough time."

Meilin wasn't sure what to say. The rapid change of expression and silence caught her by surprise. She had so far seen only a noble and friendly side of Koike. For a moment, she thought she had seen fear. Anxiety.
"Okay. Good. Well, I mean," brushing a few strands of hair aside Meilin felt stupid for her phrasing, "That you guys are hanging in there. I would like it if you guys came back. I enjoyed it quite when we went to that tavern."

"Good. We will try. Would you perhaps excuse me? I hope to see you tomorrow. Shall we say, around 3 PM?" Koike asked as he took a step back. But he would wait as social etiquette required of him for her answer.

"Oh yes of course. Field of Valdar. Thanks, and it was great to see you again, Koike." Flashing another smile, Meilin would watch as the young man walked away. A cold shiver ran down her spine. She couldn't get the brief expression he had shown not out of her mind. But nevertheless, she forced herself to try to enjoy the feast for a bit longer.

[fieldbox="Feast at Magnhild"]Moru Miyazato and Chu Omari | Akinian Empire, Magnhild
A short collab between @conman2163 and @FrostedCaramel

Moru talks to the Lord Omari about arranging a place to stay for the Miyazato missionaries that will be traveling to the Rain Province.
[spoili]

Chu stood, sipping his glass, off to the side of the main feast, looking around. His final goal in this feast complete. Swirling the remaining liquor in the glass around, the liquid barely filled to be about a quarter full now, he watched, looking for something to catch his eye.

Moru pulled away from a pair of representatives from the Rain Province with a bit of a bitter taste in his mouth. The two had almost immediately shot down his request, giving him no time to further explain why or what he even really was asking of them. They did, however, point him in the direction of another Rain Province Clan Leader. Chu Omari, the young and apparent clan leader of the Omari Clan. He'd never heard of them, but perhaps the fact he hadn't would only help to get the young man to agree with less issue to the Miyazatos' request. He moved over to the boy who seemed to be idly toying with his liquor while watching the party. Moru grabbed his own glass from a passing server and slid next to the man, standing slightly away from the wall.

Moru bowed slightly and rose with confidence, "Miyazato Moru, Representative from the Miyazato Clan." he introduced himself with a smile.

Chu smiled at the approach, giving a slight bow in turn to the leader of the Miyazato. "Good evening Master Miyazato. I am Lord Chu Omari of the Omari Clan." Chu smiled. "But most here already seem to know that for one reason or another." He studied the man for a moment. He had seen him with the other clan leaders from the Rain, and the moment was quite hilarious. The Uyeno and the Maeno, two clans quite close to his clan lands. Not only that, if all had gone well back home things were underway to ensure they would not return to any further clan meetings, and neither would a few other clan leaders. The irony of timing.

Chu's agenda was finished. He had met with the Cho, the Hons, and had made sure his clan would be trained in the new ways of warfare. Anything else would be extra. The Miyazato were in charge of the shrines, as Chu recalled from his studies. He had paid special attention to the clan. Religion often had ways of swaying people's minds afterall. "So, Master Miyazato, to what do I owe the unexpected pleasure of your presence?"

Moru held his smile and spoke, "Lord Omari, I must admit I'm rather unfamiliar with the Rain Province, but I do know from asking around you seem to be the man to talk to at the moment when it comes to matters concerning it." he said with the wave of a hand, "I've been tasked with sending a few missionaries to the Province, to help quell the dissatisfaction of the refugees from Claw Country, it's my understanding that they are mostly of the Way of Fire, the Empress herself believes it could be… beneficial, for us to intervene on her behalf." he said, taking in the young man in front of him as he spoke.

"I'm curious as to whether or not the Omari would be able to offer any sort of assistance for such a venture? My clan is small, hardly a clan in honesty, and we have no major funds to help pay for such an undertaking, if there could be any such way that you, Lord Omari, could assist us in this task… We would owe you for sure." he stated. He had no issue indebting himself to someone as long as he knew he could at some point get something back from it, and if the last two men he had spoken to had made anything clear it was that the Omari were quickly rising in the Rain Province, Moru had a feeling of all the clans to indebt the Miyazato to, even a small debt, the Omari served the most interesting prospects for things that could be asked of them in return.

"I understand your plight, and the plight of those who flee war, however the clans of the Rain are not particularly wealthy, and cannot spare much of our money to such ventures. I could do little more than offer your missionaries food and shelter within our lands." Chu said, still focusing on the man. It would be a small investment in the religion, but not one that would go amiss. Sheltering close to the border would mean that those uprooted from their homes and fleeing into the Akinian Empire would have less reason to cause trouble. Perhaps they may even settle down. "It would also be a pleasure to host the refugees too. If they could be directed to our clan lands, we can provide them places to stay, food, and honest work as well. The new labor might afford me the opportunity to direct some extra funds towards the missionary effort as well." With that, the implied deal was set. In exchange for the missionaries staying with the Omari, and the Omari providing them food, the Missionaries would direct the refugees to the Omari lands, thus providing the Omari with a new source of labor.

Moru listened and nodded intently as the Omari spoke. He ran a good deal, although he seemed to have misinterpreted his original plee as asking for money, "Lord Omari, food and shelter is all we could ever ask for in such a situation." he assured the young clan leader, "Money is unnecessary, even if the refugees go on to provide an increase in income for you, simply having a place to sleep and food to eat while we do our God's work is more than enough." he agreed. "I think it's a deal then, in exchange for food and shelter in the Rain my missionaries shall do their best to steer the refugees to your lands." he wondered if the Omari would have anything else he may want but was pretty sure this was the farthest this agreement would go.

The Omari nodded to the man. "Very well, food and shelter shall be given to your missionaries." He waited for a moment, then spoke again. "I presume you will be able to send a messenger along to provide the exact details of your venture? I will require the number of missionaries that will be coming to my land, as I must make the arrangements for that same number. Additionally, I would like your guarantee that they will not be causing any duress for the current residents of the Omari lands. A measure of accountability as it were. Though I doubt there will be any troubles on the account of your missionaries, I must have reassurance for my people."

Moru nodded and smiled as the Omari seemed to make demands that he already knew the answers to, "Lord Omari you mustn't worry." He asured him with a small bow, "The number shall be two. Of my own blood I can vouch for their hospitality and understanding. To think they'd give you trouble would be to curse God Himself." he smiled, "I will send a messenger once we have more exacting dates of course." he was about sure that this small agreement with the Lord was done. "If that would be all Lord Omari?" he asked pleasantly.

Chu smiled in turn. Of course, the answers were already known, however a spoken agreement was better than an unspoken one, regardless of who it was that was being dealt with. "I will look forward to their arrival." Chu said simply, then nodded to the man. "Of course, enjoy the rest of your evening Master Miyazato." He replied, and then walked away, leaving the man to his own devices for the evening."[/color]

Takeru Destrushia

Fifth Raikage | Kumogakure, Raikage's Office.

It was silent in the spacious office of Takeru. Various reports were laid out in an organised manner on the man's desk. It were various reports on the dispatched forces to gather intelligence regarding the forces that were loyal to the Regency council as various clans that had yet to define which side they were on. Right now, both his and the regency council had almost the same quantity as the quality of forces and resources. The lower western part of the country was mostly supportive of him. The Alaricus have always shown support for the daimyo but Takeru wasn't entirely certain who they supported. He considered that the chance was slim that the Alaricus would be against the regency council, despite the council's attempts to restrict every clan's privilege. Then there were the Hojo and Sanosuke. The Hojo were much like the Alaricus supporters of the Daimyo, likely due to their influence with the late and previous daimyo of the country. The Sanosuke had been more in support of him, the Raikage. There were more clans that hadn't confirmed their loyalty to one or another side. Such as the nomadic clans. But Takeru doubted that every clan would define their loyalty until it was certain which side would be winning. A decision that he couldn't personally hold up against those clans. If he had been in charge of a clan, he wouldn't like to side with the losing side.

Just as Takeru wagered on if he should send a message to see how Asami's progress was going in the north, to rally all of the Sanosuke clans to his support the double doors to his office would be opened. A messenger entered, offering a deep bow. Approaching the desk of Takeru in such a respectful fashion, the Raikage subtly gestured that the messenger could take his leave. He hoped it was a message from Asami but the seal on the red wax already betrayed the origin.

It was from the regency council.

For a moment, Takeru pondered on not opening the scroll. A very small chance existed that he would become happy with the scroll's content. It could also be an assassination attempt. Chuckling, Takeru did doubt that the regency would strike first. It would be dishonourable and give just the pretext others needed to dispose of the regency council. Public opinion would drop and tension would rise.
Breaking the red wax seal, Takeru rolled the scroll open. Reading the content, Takeru's brow gained a frown behind the mask he wore.

[spoili]

Lord Fifth,
Stormblade of the North,
Master of Arms of his Benevolence,

Ever since the unfortunate and premature end of the gracious lord Yasihude Ranzaki, I, Aki Chise and other members of the Regency council have taken the task upon us to mentor and guide the true heir of the late lord Yasihude Ranzaki. Shigeko Ranzaki, may he be blessed to rule fair and just, has yet to receive a true confirmation of your loyalty. From what we hear is that you have been rather focused on your task to guide the military. But not to the benefit of this country. But that of yourself.

It has saddened many to hear this. The Regency council, however, hasn't forgotten your deeds for the people of his illustrious Majesty. There is yet a chance for you to redeem yourself and dispel any rumour that you're working against the justified rule of the future lord Shigeko Ranzaki as the chosen Regency council.

Come within a month to Ranzaki and kneel before your lord. Pledge that your life is his and mercy shall be shown. Failure in adhering to this divine command will bring both shame and misfortune on you and all those who will follow you. Inciting unrest and strife is perhaps in the common nature of shinobi but his Majesty expects much better from you.

Come within a month or be branded an enemy of the state.

The Regency Council.
[/spoili]

"And I thought I could be a vicious cunt with a pencil. You are clearly kicking it up a notch, Chise," Takeru thought to himself. The command itself seemed harmless. He could easily travel within a month to Ranzaki as bowing his head to the possible future lord Shigeko Ranzaki. He could endure the annoying smirk of victory of Aki Chise. He could do all that and more. But the true purpose wasn't to just preserve peace. It was a declaration of war.

Chise was likely quite aware that he wouldn't surrender to their rule. The disagreement would burst into a civil conflict, one way or another. But just throwing a punch wouldn't make the aggressor look good, despite whatever reason they could conjure. So this order would force Takeru to react. If he wouldn't comply, it would give the pretext that the regency council sought to pick the fight up with him or try to dispose of him as good as they could do.
Pondering, Takeru knew that sitting idle and hoping that they could come to a compromise was suicide. It was now his turn to react, attempting to counter this particular subtle move of the regency council. First what he would order would be that Gedric would need to move to the north of Kumogakure. The few forts that were manned should be reinforced. A host also should be readied in case that the Regency council would attempt to make the first move. While Gedric would try to hold the forts against raids and attacks, he would do what he could to increase public opinion in his favour. The Regency council would without a doubt try to spread that the Raikage and his allies were traitors. That they would need to be put down, for the greater good.

Reaching out to a map of the country, Takeru's eyes narrowed. Assuming that Asami would unify the Sanosuke in the north, that meant that they had a good strategic advantage of positioning. It would force the forces of the Regency council on two possible fronts. Making it easier for them to resist and perhaps weaken the Regency council in terms of resources as popularity. People, after all, love winning parties more than losing parties.
The only thorns that could arise to harass Takeru's side were the Hojo and Alaricus clan. If one of the two clans decided to side against him, he would face a big dilemma on fighting on a larger front as well. If both clans would side against him, then he wasn't so sure if they would able to endure a prolonged strife against the Regency Council.

Ordering for a messenger, Takeru waited. Within a mere minute, a messenger would present himself in Takeru's office. Offering a deep bow, the young man waited for what Takeru had to say.

"Bring word to the Lord Commander that he is required to travel to the Himi castle, north of here. He is required to ready whatever he can muster to defend our northern dominion against any possible incursions of the Regency or Hojo forces. He isn't allowed to make any offensive operations until my command. My personal command, that is."

The messenger nodded to emphasise that he understood it. Making another bow, he would take his leave. Leaving Takeru behind in his office.
Releasing a heavy sigh, Takeru once more glanced at the map that was present on his desk. It was going to begin.

Gedric Hon

Lord Commander of the Lightning | Lord Commander's Office

Gedric swore as he looked at the reports. "Twenty five thousand? That's all?" He snorted and turned to his aide "Collin, fetch me the reports on guild members. I need it immediately." The short, chubby man waddled out of the corner he was standing in and out of the room, off after the reports. Gedric leaned back in his chair and ran his hand through the shaggy jet-black mop that he called his hair. He had tried, to the best of his ability, to reform the troops that he had been given command of. He had sent his most trusted men to ensure the troops were hard-drilled, had replaced commanders who weren't up to the task, and he had even gone so far as to overhaul the command structure, appointing talented officers to new positions. Ever since he had come into power, that was what he had focused on. Still that was precious few men. Twenty five thousand, that was all. That did not include the clan troops, even though he had wanted command over those men too. Thankfully, the members of those twenty five thousand would be well trained, and led by capable men, not cowards. Gedric's plans ensured that. In the back of his mind, Gedric knew two things. One, that while they were not organized or lead like Gedric had made sure the Raikage's troops were, the forces of the Regency were not to be brushed off. The Lightning's military had managed well before he had come along, which meant that while it wasn't as effective, it still worked, and that was all that mattered at the end of the day. Gedric looked at the map on his wall, red squares marking key locations, and yellow marking forts. Gedric had the map created shortly after his discussion with the Raikage. It's use was numerous.

A knock came at the door which Collin had disappeared. Assuming that it was just Collin, Gedric simply said "Enter". He turned around, expecting to see the fat man waddle back in, but instead, there was a tall man, slender in build, dressed in the fashion of the Raikage's messengers. He bowed, then assumed a position of attention before speaking. "Lord Commander, I bring word from the Raikage sir." Gedric's eyes widened, a hint of surprise visible on his face. "Oh?" Gedric said, the surpise from his face leaking over into his voice. "Well then, out with it, what is the message the Raikage has sent?" The man hesitated briefly before speaking. "The Raikage wishes for you to travel to Himi Castle in the North. Additionally, the Lord Commander is to muster whatever he can to defend the North dominion against any possible Hojo or Regency incursion. Finally, the Raikage wished to express that the Lord Commander is not to make any offensive operation until he commands it personally." Gedric turned back around, facing his desk once again, contemplating the message. The messenger remained at attention the whole way through. "Tell the Raikage that I understand and I will leave as soon as I am able." Gedric replied simply, still deep in thought. The man bowed and then left, shutting the door behind him. Gedric leaned forward on his hands, considering what he could do. Certainly, twenty five thousand men could be rallied, but that would leave few forces distributed throughout the country side. However, after a brief moment of consideration, Gedric knew what he would do.

Drawing a clean piece of parchment out of a small stack, Gedric wet a pen with ink and set his words to paper. Before long he was finished, and after letting the liquid dry, he folded the paper and sealed it with the emblem of the Lord Commander. The paper, now sealed, was an official priority and compulsory mission for the guild. All members would gather at Himi Castle to march out to battle immediately, wages to be paid from Gedric's personal account. Gedric quickly set this off to the side and drew a second piece of parchment. This one was an order to his commanders. They would marshall the Raikage's forces at Himi Castle within one month, while those troops in the city would prepare for departure by the dawn of the next day. Gedric would marshall the forces at Himi and decide where to deploy them. In total, he would have at his command two divisions, not good, all things considered, though he knew that the Regency had around the same number of men. The numbers advantage would essentially go to whomever could sway the Clans. Gedric finished writing the letter, and then sealed it too.

When Collin returned, Gedric sent the man out the door shortly with the message with the order to see that they arrived at their respective destinations. That done, Gedric stood up and walked to where his sword rested next to the door. Gedric yawned, stretched, and then picked the weapon, buckling it around his waist, over the tunic that he wore. And so the war begins....[/fieldbox]

At Magnhild,
The Feast is concluded. The next morning, a meeting is held.

A collab between Gerontis and Aliceee.

Summary:
The feast comes to an end. The next morning, Kiyomi and Zakito have a meeting with Koike. The conversation with Koike leads to a conclusion, in which Kiyomi decides to organise what she calls the Scholae.

[spoili]
He finished with his report. Stating in full details what had transpired so far at the eastern continent. What kind of situation was present and what Hayate requested. Koike further brought up the plan that he and Hayate had in mind. But there was dire need for reinforcements to secure a good end of the campaign. Once done, Koike remained silent with his hands at his back. Waiting for questions or better, an answer that he would bring back to Hayate and the others.

It remained silent for a moment. Kiyomi's eyes settled her gaze on Koike. During his whole report, she had been quiet though it was quite visible, due to her facial features, that she was anything but happy. When Koike was done, Kiyomi simply nodded.
"Thanks for bringing this report. I certainly desire to give more aid to those in the east. But I hope you guys won't expect the entire Imperial military. If it will help, I will pressure both the Republic and the Lightning country to send more resources. Else, we will pull out of the east." Kiyomi said as she shot Zakito a glance. "Thanks Koike. You will be given a full report later. Though, there is another matter at hand that I want to lay to you."

The young man made a bow with his head. He expected that he would now be allowed to take his leave. He had a shadow clone at the Field of Valdar, as he had agreed to help with training Team 8 for the day. Not to mention that he wanted to clear his head for a bit. The fact that Kiyomi wanted to bring something up, to him, made Koike throw a subtle glance at the other person present. But Zakito didn't betray any of his thoughts, just standing at Kiyomi's flanks with his hands behind his back as well.
"Yes, your Majesty?"

"I want you to join the Scholae." Kiyomi said. The tone was friendly but the phrasing betrayed that Kiyomi wouldn't like it if the young man would decline her. "I have some faith in the likes of the ANBU, Sworn Swords and what not. But it is to a certain degree. You have proven yourself in various missions that were classified as non-existing. Your loyalty can't be questioned nor your skill. For these reasons alone, I want to make you the first member of the Scholae. Of course, you will receive more information later on what it entitles."

Koike's eyebrows knitted a frown on his brow. He didn't ever hear of 'Scholae'. Listening further to Kiyomi, he could piece the information together to the point he had an idea of what she requested. His mind brought up Katsu and Saki. "What will become of my team or position within the 13th, your Majesty?" Koike asked, feeling slightly nervous.

"Not yet certain. Depending on how I feel about it, I might bring you all into this new order of mine. But for now, I have only you and another in mind. It will mean that from today on, you're the equal of a jounin. If not technically, more. And let me be clear," her eyes slightly narrowed, "I hope you won't disappoint me with trying to bring up excuses on why this too much of a honour. Truth be told, I need more people I can truly and fully rely on. Regardless of where they are."

He wanted to protest. His gaze briefly moved to his uncle but Zakito remain silent. It was clear that it was Kiyomi's idea. While he appreciated the intention and idea that she fully trusted him, Koike wasn't so sure if he liked the extra responsibility. It was a great honour and made him feel somewhat, fuzzy. If somebody had told him before when he had been a genin that he would reach the status of something more than a jounin, he would have not believed it. Then again, he hadn't been close with a sovereign monarch, ruler of one of the most powerful states on the western continent, at that time.
"And when would I enter into this rank, your Majesty?" Koike decided to ask, already deciding that arguing would not be to his benefit.

"Right today. I will have a document written and signed by myself. You will take this to the east. You will continue to serve at your current position. Once you're back, you will further help me to establish the foundation of the Scholae further. But you will get more confirmed information later today. So I expect that tomorrow or the day after, you can go back to the eastern continent." Kiyomi replied. A subtle nod was given, so that Koike could take his leave.

Making a deep bow, Koike said nothing. There wasn't anything he could say in return. Taking a few steps back, still in a bow. After a few steps, Koike would straighten his back and turn around. Leaving the room and the occupants behind, he would head away to clear his mind.
"You still sure about this?" Zakito calmly asked as he moved his gaze to Kiyomi.

"Yes. Let us face it. How much trust can I place upon people that I don't know? Koike for example has performed so many missions that even most ANBU weren't trusted with. With failures from the likes of the ANBU and other potent forces, I want to be certain in one elite force without any kind of worry." Kiyomi replied as she leaned back in the chair. Sideways glancing at Zakito, she continued.
"I certainly don't want history to repeat itself in hearing that a Sworn Sword or Ghost ANBU did something similar to that one ANBU of yours. When I order that a family should be killed due to high treason, that means the entire family. And not having a kid spared that could later try to rally support to dethrone me with his bloodline."

Zakito nodded slowly. He still regretted that he hadn't done anything more active to halt Tsukiakari from what she had done. Empathy towards others was one thing. But to try to save a child from a traitorous family, that had ties to the last ruling dynasty of the Fire province? That had almost ended in more violence at the site. "I hope that this Scholae will not disappoint you, your Majesty." Zakito replied. "Though, how many troops do you want to mobilise and send to the eastern continent?"

Kiyomi understood if anybody had doubts with her promoting and establishing such a small elite force. There were already the Sworn Swords and Tiger Claws. But the Scholae had slightly different tasks than just to provide protection for her and the possible future royal family as interests. Sending a Tiger Claw or Sworn Sword to do a diplomatic task was out of question. And Kiyomi wasn't content to fully rely on either, not yet.
"Right now we have three brigades of the 3rd Division in the east. This means that we got still a feasible amount of brigades at home to defend our borders." Kiyomi thought out loud, "If this hostile force is this big then I want that to send around two to three brigades to the east. But at the same time, I demand that the Lightning and Republic do the same. Else the Wolf country shall be subjected to the Imperial standards."

Little effort was put into hiding his slight dismay of the idea to subject more of their forces to the east. Of course, the troubling news shouldn't be much of a surprise. Whatever had supported and send the Zealots from the east, had a good amount of resources to do so. But he didn't like the idea that they could give rise to a new great war. The Republic had legitimate claims to the Wolf Country. If the Empire would state and occupy the place, it would lead to a new war. One that could serve as an excuse for the Wind and Earth to meddle in. It would be just another huge conflict and Zakito wasn't sure if they would survive it. Even despite the high quality of their military.
"I only can give advice, your Majesty. But I think it might be in the best interest if we wouldn't word this in a forceful way to the other parties. I doubt that the Lightning will severely object. Seeing what I know from my contacts, they are currently facing some troubles that will prevent them to object to Imperial expansion overseas. But we don't have the means to realise such an expansion. And if the Republic will see it as a transgression, it can serve as a reason for another huge conflict."

Listening to Zakito's response, Kiyomi thought about it. But in her opinion, it was somewhat the fault of the Republic for not being able to maintain their own vassal under control. Then there was the trouble that rose from the east that they didn't fully understand yet. Yet for now she considered that if the Empire invested the most resources and effort that they should be rewarded sufficiently. The warning of a huge conflict was good enough for now but Kiyomi wouldn't really mind a chance to put some others in their place. Keeping that to herself, she nodded.
"Very well. I will send the request to the Lightning and Republic with the request to send more troops. If they won't, we will pull our troops back. But if we are required to keep forces in the east, I want that we will get a proper reward for Imperial intervention. Even peace has its price."

"That is a bit fairer, your Majesty." Zakito replied. He thought about it and decided to question something. "Shall I perhaps see which two brigades we will deploy east? It will require some time to make the arrangements as having the equal transportation of those troops become reality." He further explained.

She threw another glance at him when he stated two. She wanted to deploy three brigades. But she wouldn't argue. Despite her wants and wishes, Zakito was more competent and capable in the art of war. If he considered two to be enough, she wouldn't further argue against it. "Yes please. I entrust you will do a better job than I would." She replied on her turn. "For now, I will attend to some of my other plans today."

[fieldbox=The Field of Valdar, burlywood]
In Magnhild,
At the Field of Valdar.
Team 4 at work!

A collab between Zane, Frost, Some, Alice and Oetje.

Summary:
Meilin rallies her team at the Field of Valdar, in the city of Magnhild. In the centre of power and politics of the Hon clan, the team starts on their first team training since the joining of Dea Cho and Dagrún Hon. There is some tension present as the new formation tries to work together.

[spoili]
The field of Valdar. It wasn't that hard to find. Traveling earlier to the place, Meilin had made certain that everybody of Team 4 would get the message on how late. It had cost some of her own personal money but she considered it better than to hang around and wait an entire day for her team to drip in, one by one. So she considered it worth to spend around five silver shields to make sure that everybody knew how late they were expected.
By going earlier, Meilin was able to arrange a tile for her team. It existed as many others tiles out of a small round ring that was surrounded by a stubborn wooden fence. The cold made the ground hard and sturdy. Which was good for training movement. Placing various boards with bullseyes against the entrance into the tile, Meilin did take in the surrounding.

Various groups of warriors clad in training equipment were going on about. Sparring or training together. Not very surprising. The tradition and usage of the Field of Valdar were quite old. Probably as old as Magnhild, she reckoned. For Valdar was one of the gods that were associated with battle and martial prowess. If she had to believe it, this place was used for gathering warbands in the early days of the city and jarldom. Warbands raised out of levies and warriors to engage with an invading rival force or set out on an expedition of their own. Later as the military of the Hons started to become more professional, so too would happen to the usage of the Field of Valdar. There was a small temple dedicated to the god. Nearby there were facilities such as smiths, tanners and other craftsmen that could make good use of the warriors training and their needs.
Garbed in her newer uniform, Meilin felt a certain kind of pride. It was different from the previous set, that indicated her being a novice within the Cho Guard. The current set was something she had to get used to. But it yet felt already comfortable. Protective.
Leaning against the fence, Meilin crossed her arms out front of her chest. Her hood was pulled up to offer a bit of protection against the cold. Luckily, it wasn't snowing. Despite the gloomy dark grey overcast of clouds.

He had forgotten completely that they were meeting up tomorrow to see the new team in a more proper introduction, at a training field no less. He was notified of what time they were meeting at and how exactly to get there yet that didn't stop the pounding in his head. Cursing under his breath on why they never cut him off as he got up and proceeded to get changed for the cold weather outside. He silently hoped they would simply meet up there then move to a warmer location as he was content not having to stay outside in the cold all day long.

Trudging through the snow as he tried to drown out all the noises of the people on the streets. He hated that all sounds were oddly amplified for him, like having them scream in his ear despite being far away. This cold weather was helping somewhat but not enough. Arriving at the location he would wave at Meilin as he would rub his temple. "Morning Meilin…." Madoc mumbled as he would now await the others

Aoi had taken her time getting ready to meet the team at the training field, the "Field of Valdar" as it was called. If she remembered correctly it was named after a Chonobi God, but which one she couldn't quite recall. Slowly, whether it was in dread of having to interact with the two Chonobi additions to the team or from the small headache she had from the festivities the night before she prepared herself for the cold outside. Slipping a scarf around her neck and a heavier jacket she'd make her way out of the inn and follow the directions to the field that Meilin had left them, wondering all the while why Meilin hadn't just woken Madoc and her up instead of leaving without them for the fields.

She'd give a small wave and notice the slightly off look of Madoc as he stood in the cold, the memories of his rather unstoppable drinking the night before placed a smile on her face as she realized he must have been hungover, "Morning you two. Nice day isn't it?" she asked a little sarcastically as the cold bit at her face.

Heading to the place, Dagrún was more than awake. Garbed in a set of clothes that she was more comfortable with, the mood of the young woman was considerable better than last night. Arriving at the Field of Valdar, she had little trouble to navigate to find the place where she would meet up with the others. The biting cold made her wish that they would already just skip over the talks and pick up a training weapon.
"Morning," she said as she approached Meilin, Aoi and Madoc. A small smile found its way on Dagrúns lips as she nodded to Meilin. "Thanks for the note. I only realised this morning that we hadn't really spoken about a time. So," she threw a look at Madoc and Aoi.

"What were your names again?"

Dea didn't understand how the streets were still so full in this unfortunate weather. All the people casually milling around must've been accustomed to the low temperatures, or prepared for them in ways that she wasn't. Even in the two-layered outfit she'd assembled for herself this morning, the cold still managed to seep through. To counteract Magnhild's unforgiving climate, her pace never dropped below a jog as she made her way to the meeting place.

Upon arriving she was right impressed, by both the makeup of the place itself and those dedicated practicing and congregating there. Her eyes especially lingered on the temple. This place was definitely worthy of the deity it was named after. When Dea first caught sight of her team she eased her way over to them, but when she noticed that she was the last to arrive she upped her speed to a sprint. "Good morning team!"she greeted them, probably a bit too loudly for this time of day.

The first to arrive was Madoc, Meilin flashed a friendly smile as the other approached. She noticed that he wasn't quite fit or awake. Reckoning that could be the cause of yesterday, she hoped that the cold and imminent training would resolve that 'issue'.
Before Meilin could weigh in if she should talk with a louder voice, to just torment Madoc, Aoi joined them. The sarcasm about the weather wasn't lost on Meilin. Snickering, she pushed her back from the fence, her arms hanging at her side.
"Morning you two. It is a bit cold but with some training, we will get it warm enough!"

The third to arrive was Dagrún. The blue marks on the other's eyes were intimidating. With more light to observe, Meilin wasn't entirely sure if she felt intimidated or curious about the meaning regarding the facial markings. The style of Dagrún was quite different, quite far from being subtle about her possible origin. For a second, Meilin found herself growing slightly envious because of it. It was bold but also admirable, in her opinion. Listening to Dagrún, Meilin snickered at first. Until she asked Aoi and Madoc who they were.
"No problem," Meilin was quick to interact. "I figured that it would be a good idea to have a time set so that we wouldn't all be waiting for one or more people. Good morning by the way!"

Spotting Dea, Meilin would make use of the chance of the latter's appearance to steer the topic away from what she would fear that could happen.
"Morning, Dea," Meilin began as she nodded in an approving manner to the genin, "Good that you made it in time." Nevermore had that sentence been so genuine, Meilin thought to herself.
Clapping her hands, to gather the attention, Meilin would gesture to the round and rather small like arena close to them.
"Before we get started, I thought it would be a nice idea to try to introduce ourselves. I arranged these papers."

Producing some small paper pieces out of a pocket, she would hold them up so that each of them would wind up with holding one.
"Okay, so, Dea. Are you familiar with chakra paper?" Meilin asked as she would gesture to the other members to show how to use the paper.
"What I want is that we each use the chakra paper and tell a bit about ourselves. Can somebody of you start?" Meilin shot a look at Aoi, Madoc and Dagrún.

With the arrival of the older Chonobi Aoi was actually a bit surprised by the girls attitude. She appeared far nicer, a bit more approachable now than she had the night before, at least until she made it clear she obviously didn't care about Madoc or her. She had to fight to not roll her eyes and could feel the want to reply with something nasty growing, she clenched her gloved hand into a fist and offered a smile, "Miyazato Aoi." was all she said before turning her attention to the second Chonobi as she arrived at a sprint. The girl seemed at least eager and a little bit more inclusive than her older counterpart, which set Aoi slightly at ease but she still didn't trust either of them, unable to fight off the idea that she'd need to do as much if not more than she had done for Meilin to get any sense of respect from them.

She listened as Meilin seemed to have a plan in mind and produced small pieces of paper from her pocket. Instantly reminded of the Shinobi Academy Aoi knew where this small exercise was headed and debated if she should tell Meilin that the papers wouldn't work for her as she reached out and took one. She held it between her gloved fingers and stared at it for a moment before focusing a small amount of chakra into it. When the paper didn't so much as move she'd crumple it in her hand drop it to the snow, "I'm Aoi. My release is Magnet, it doesn't show up on paper." was all she'd say, still reluctant to divulge anything to someone who hadn't even had the common decency to remember Madoc and hers name.

Turning half around, Dagrún shot a look towards the last person of the team to join. The young Dea. Dagrún hadn't yet been able to form any kind of opinion but she held some sympathy towards the younger one. Meilin quickly followed, explaining what they would do first. Taking a chakra paper, Dagrún waited for moment. The first that went was Aoi Miyazato. When Dagrún heard she had magnet release, the blonde woman briefly frowned.

Slowly raising the paper between her right index and middle finger, Dagrún spoke up. "Short and sweet, huh?" She said, an amused look shot at Aoi. Turning her attention towards Dea, Dagrún would insert some chakra into the paper. It wrinkled despite the fingers of Dagrún not moving.
"My name is Dagrún Hon of the Tryvvge lineage. I assume that you two have never heard of it," Giving a sideways glance towards Aoi and Madoc for a second, Dagrún turned her attention towards Dea. "Close ranged combat, that is my forté. If you ever want how to sneak around without being noticed by the most vigilant of prey, I can help with that. Tracking and killing is what I can do."
Lightning started to form and crack around Dagrun's fingers, slowly burning up the paper. The small ashes would fall towards the ground.
"Of course," Closing her right hand, she would hold it up and point casually with her thumb towards Aoi. "I wager it is less flashy than being a magnet. Got to attract something, right?"

Slowly but surely the other females would arrive only reminding him further that he was outnumbered in the female to male ratio. He could practically sense Aoi feeling more uneasy with how she was responding, something he could tell would only make his headache worse. When the blonde asked who they were again he shrugged. Last he remembered he never stated his name. In fact he was pretty sure Meilin did that for them. Besides introductions were today anyway, which as Dea arrived Meilin would hand them the chakra paper and ask them to tell a bit about themselves.

Aoi would go first really quickly simply telling her name and her release since the paper didn't show it. Dagrun then went a bit tauntingly towards Aoi and a bit to him but he didn't care about any lineage. His paper would split in half as he applied the chakra to it. "Madoc Yamanaka, spooky mind controlling shit. I also sneak as that's my specialty, nothing else of interest." Madoc said more so to not overload his headache.

The first that went was Aoi. Meilin was waiting for a second, wondering if Aoi was going to tell more. When it was clear that she wasn't going to, Meilin was slightly confused on why the other wasn't talking more. Was Aoi nervous? Not eager? Though confused, Meilin didn't seek much behind it. Dagrún was the second one and Meilin paid close attention, to the blonde Hon. She wondered for a moment if it was true what she had heard about the descendants of Tryvvge. The question was on the tip of Meilin's tongue but she kept it to herself.
Then Madoc followed, but he forgot to explain what chakra nature he had. Letting him finish, Meilin would flash a warm smile towards Dea.

"He also has wind release, as you noticed his paper split in half. I am Meilin Cho, from the lineage of Nayami. Raised in Keishi and joined the Cho Guard as well the Imperial military." She further explained. Debating something, Meilin decided to push herself. Pouring some chakra into the paper, she continued speaking. "My chakra affinity is towards fire," Though as she spoke, Meilin would just crumple the small piece of paper. A tiny piece of something purple falling to the ground. "I am also trying to take some steps towards becoming better at medical ninjutsu. My fighting style is more or less focused on mid to close quarters. I use bladed weapons, such as swords and knives." Pausing for a moment, Meilin would consider something.
"I am known as Stormraven by the Blackroots and have participated in the battle of Homdar. Other than that, I don't like neither spicy or bitter drinks or food. My current ambition is to become worthy of leading this team." The last was somewhat of a quickly fabricated lie but she doubted that Madoc would be able to pull that from her. "Okay, now with that done. Let us move to the next."

Gesturing to the nearby fenced off pen, Meilin would be the first to enter. There were a few planks with bullseyes painted on them. Placing them against the fence, Meilin would unsheath one of her knives.
"Let us start with some throwing practice to get a bit warm. The first throw is just a normal throw. The second has to be done with the other hand. And the third one has to be done in a different manner. Allow me to demonstrate."
Turning towards the targets, Meilin slowly inhaled. Throwing the knife with her right hand, the weapon would hit the bullseye. Turning to the second target, she would pull a knife with her left hand. Performing the throw, it would hit the target but slightly off the bullseye.
"And yeah, I am better with my right hand. Heh," Meilin felt a bit embarrassed but she would continue on. Picking a knife with her right hand, she would narrow her eyes. A bit of chakra would be poured into the weapon. Throwing the weapon horizontal upwards, Meilin would quickly lean forward. Placing her gloved hands against the cold snow covered ground, the Cho would use her momentum to bring her feet up. The moment that her feet slightly started to arch her body towards the ground, the squad leader would push her body and deliver a hard kick against the knife. As the boots of Meilin landed once more on the ground, the soft thud of the knife hitting the target resonated. It was close to the bullseye, being a better attempt than her throw with the left hand.

"Oef, okay." Straightening her back, Meilin would roll her shoulders as she gestured to the targets. "Who is next?" She asked, while collecting her knives and walking away from the targets.

Aoi paid attention to Dagrún as she spoke, even if there was a part of her that told her to ignore the girls words as she had ignored theirs the night before she wasn't quite able to bring herself to do so. When she came at Aoi with a snide comment about her magnet release Aoi was both furious and confused, on one hand she really wasn't sure what the Chonobi in front of her was getting at and on the other it was clearly an attack on something she had no control over having in the first place, "I don't know what you mean." she managed back in a relatively calm tone and was happy when Meilin took over the conversation.

She only half listened to the Cho as she spoke, her mind running through any number of reasons the new Chonobi would have to dislike her and settling on the only and most obvious reason. The very same fear she had expressed to Madoc the night prior was true, the girl simply hated her because she wasn't Chonobi. She stifled a laugh as she came to the realization that this blonde was a real Chonobi, truly from Chonobi lands and of the same mindset, Meilin was not. She'd been foolish to take Meilin as an example of a Chonobi and their perception of others, they truly were distrusting and disapproving as she had ever been led to believe and Dagrún proved it. She brought herself back from her thoughts in time to see Meilin dropping her paper into the snow, a small hint of some purplish color falling with it but was unsure of exactly why, she put it away and decided to approach Meilin later if the girl didn't run off with her new friends.

Aoi would step forward after Meilin and pull a kunai from her pouch and throw it at one of the targets with her right hand. It made a satisfying thunk as it embedded itself into the bullseye almost on top of where Meilin's first knife had landed. Pulling another kunai from her pouch she'd switch hands and throw the knife, a small sigh escaping her lips as the kunai embedded itself just outside of the centre ring of the bullseye but unlike Meilin she didn't come up with any reasons and instead just reached for her pouch once more. Pulling four kunai from the pouch she would simply drop them at chest height as they flew out from her and embedded themselves around one another in the very centre of the final target. Her throws complete the four kunai from the final throw would free themselves and quickly find their way back to her pouch as she held it open for them while she walked forward and pulled her first two knives from the targets, "I'd say that counts as different." she stated as she'd rejoin the team away from the targets.

A soft smile was the only response Dagrún gave in return to Aoi's statement that she didn't know. Listening to what Meilin said, Dagrún made some mental notes but didn't ask or say anything. Waiting, she watched how Meilin performed at the knife throwing. The blonde Hon seemed to approve and even snicker as Meilin made a rather acrobatic finish to the small practice. Then Aoi stepped forward. Watching the blue-haired chuunin at work, Dagrún's eyes briefly narrowed. The first two throws hardly interested Dagrún. As she had expected, Aoi would use her magnetism. Truth be told, Dagrún's expectations were surpassed. If anything, she had expected that it would just be some kind of flimsy showcase of a kunai being hovering to a target. What was shown made it clear that the magnetism wasn't something to mock. Yet, as Aoi stated she thought it counted as different, Dagrún would step forwards. Winking towards Aoi.
"I agree. Very different."

Now that it was her turn, Dagrún picked a kunai from her pouch. She would have prefered a knife but had her reasons to use a kunai. The first throw with her right hand made the kunai hit near the bullseye. With what could be described as just a casual attempt, Dagrún's attempt with her left hand didn't gain a much different result.
Picking out two kunai for the third attempt, Dagrún inhaled and exhaled slowly. Focusing on moulding her chakra, small cracks of lightning coursed around the blonde's hands and weapons. As Dagrún threw the weapons, she had aimed them to go upwards. A stream of lightning would become visible as it surrounded the weapons. Slightly lowering her hands, the lightning seemed to also pull the kunai and cause them to impale the practice board. For a few seconds, lightning still remained visible as audible as it flickered around the kunai.
"Heh, saw that pup?" Dagrún turned as she winked towards Dea. "Different releases, same trick, heh?" With that said, Dagrún would rejoin the group again after she collected her weapons from the boards.

When he had made the comment back in Hanaguro that it was good for a team to disagree, he more so meant about things like decision wise. Dagrun and Aoi simply seemed to be disagreeing based on their culture, which wasn't helping his headache. Yet things would progress as Meilin had introduced herself as she crumbled her paper for some odd reason. That was a choice they could have done? Well, he chalked it up to whatever it was that made Meilin simply say what her affinity was. What came next would be knife throwing with Meilin going first, telling them that they would do the throw with both hands and the third one would be more unique?

As Meilin took her turn it was indeed a normal knife throw until the third one where she kicked it and apparently had much better aim than her left arm did. Either she got lucky as hell or she uses her feet for this quite often. Aoi would go next with the same kind of result for the first two while the last one saw her using her magnetism for the last throw. He had figured she would use it, it was still good though. Which prompted Dagrun to go next as her first two throws would end a man as any of the other throws before hers would have, then on the final one showcased her lighting affinity off by throwing her kunai upwards then using lighting to angle them downwards into the practice board. Which was then ended by a jab towards Aoi.

Sighing he'd pull out three kunai, taking one in his right hand he'd look at the board wondering where he should hit as most aimed for the centre. Throwing the first one it would impale just above the bullseye, taking the second kunai in his left hand he would throw that one and impale a bit next to his first throw. Debating what he wanted to do for his last throw he could be flashy with his wind release or a bit smart assy. Grabbing the third kunai he'd lay it flat on his hand with the point aimed at the board. Placing his hand at the butt of the kunai he moulds his own chakra and then in a burst of wind from his palm, the kunai would propel itself towards and through the board where his other two kunai used to be. In the background, you saw his third kunai embedded in the fence post.

Ryu Uchiha | Team 19 Genin | Amegakure

Following her brief talk with Mitsunari, Ryu made her way through the city at a rather brisk pace. Her mood was nothing stellar, as she was furious with herself for making such a stupid mistake. Even worse, that she had hurt that poor little boy. She understood Mitsunari's reasoning for why she couldn't go apologize to that family, but it still gnawed away at her. She knew that an apology wouldn't likely make the situation any better, but something had to be better than nothing. Letting out a long sigh she looked up to notice that she had arrived at the cemetery. A quiet place filled with various little markers where the fallen lay and the gifts their loved ones brought them laying out in front of those markers. The sky was a dreary overcast, seemingly fitting for the somber tones of such a place. She quickly made her along the small path between the graves, going towards the back corner where two simple markers stood upright in the ground. Each a wooden pillar that stopped at about knee-height and not terribly large either. Yet it had been all she could afford for either of the two buried there.

Moving to kneel just before the two graves, Ryu allowed herself a small smile. "Hi Sugu. Hi mom." She whispered softly to the markers as if they were the two she was speaking to. "I had my first mission with the new team today. Things... didn't go so well. I hurt an innocent little boy because I was stupid." She added, feeling a strong tinge of regret and embarrassment at the fact. "Riojin-Sensei demoted me back to genin, but I think that is probably a good thing. I'm not sure I am ready for Chuunin. The prisoner had gotten away today, they had set me off by talking about what happened to you, Sugu and Tadashi. Then I got sloppy and he got away, then I hurt that poor boy trying to get him back." She said, moving to sit on the grass by them as her gaze shifted between the two markers. "Either of you could've done that better than me, I'm sure. I just... I guess I just wanted to talk about it a little bit." She said once more, trying to figure out what exactly had driven her to come here and talk to the graves of her loved ones.

After nearly an hour of talking and sitting in silence, Ryu finally pushed herself to her feet. "I should probably get going, I need to help with dinner tonight and I don't want Eiji to get all worried. Despite what happened to him, he still watches me like I've got the worst of it." She said with a small giggle, before seeming to remember something else as she looked back at the graves. "Oh. If you two can hear me at all, please give me a sign that its alright. I..." She said before trailing off with a slightly embarrassed look on her features. "I want to ask Eiji to adopt me. I've never really had a... normal family. Yet watching Eiji and Sachi every day has reminded me how much I want something like that. He's been so nice to me, and certainly, more of a father than Tadashi ever was or will be. Its embarrassing to admit but I kind of already see him more like that, as a father. I just wanted to ask him to make it official. To belong somewhere again." She said softly, pausing in silence as everything remained still, not a sign from either in response.

"I'll still come to visit of course! And you'll both always be my mother and my sister! I just... it feels right. I still love and miss you both. More than you could know. I-" She quickly tried to explain, cutting herself off as she realized how crazy she must seem at the moment. Shaking her head, Ryu let out a sigh and turned to leave the graves behind and head home. "I'll be back next week. Hopefully, I can get some flowers for each of you on my way over. Love you both." She said calmly before turning and heading back towards home for the day, debating how and when she would bring up her request to Eiji.[/fieldbox]

A collaboration between Lesli and Conman!

Aiko Cho and Orun Hyuzu!

Summary:

Following his reassignment and arrival at Magnihild, Orun Hyuzu is informed that he is to meet his new team leader. Once he arrives, Orun and Aiko speak shortly about Orun's past experience and what Orun's place on Team 8 will be.

Magnihild | Cafe in the Southern Districts

The establishment wasn't packed with a lot of patrons. Much to Aiko's delight. Having taken a seat near the window, she didn't have much time to study the paper that she had received. All she knew was that a new member had been assigned to team 4. A specialised jounin that originated from the Hyuzu clan, going by the name of Orun. Frankly, she didn't mind it that much. None of her other students were being placed to another team or place. Which was for the better. For Aiko didn't deign none of them ready for a team or station where they would operate as full fledged operatives or members of the military, without much mentorship.

Though a waiter had asked if she wanted to order something, Aiko had politely declined the offer. She would wait for Orun to show up at the small restaurant within the southern districts of Magnhild. Seeing it was the only restaurant in the long street of other establishments and vendors, she doubted it would give much trouble for the Hyuzu to locate it.

Orun sat on the saddle that rested on the back of Tireo, as the dragon walked through the street, contemplating his new assignment. It had been quite the flight, but Orun had made it, and now, looking slightly bedraggled in his equipment, he and his dragon made their way through the street. At his hip rested Fireheart. Orun had elected to leave his armor behind in the inn before he had left (He had carried it only because he was concerned he might have some need of it), but he was loathe to leave his blade there too, and so he had brought it. Orun was dressed smartly in his typical brown riding clothes, and as Tireo came to a halt outside of the inn, Orun slid off the saddle. The dragon gazed at him with one pale blue eye before moving out of the road to a small alley and settling down, planning to wait for Orun to finish his meeting with the woman.

Orun walked into the restaurant at a quick pace. He had received a description of the woman he was supposed to report to, and it was only a matter of moments before he picked out the woman amongst the patrons and went to speak with her. "Jounin Aiko Cho, I presume?" Orun greeted. Once the woman affirmed one way or the other, Orun would continue. "My name is Orun Hyuzu, I am the specialized jounin that was assigned to your squad. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. May I sit down?" Orun would wait until the answered, then take his seat.

Eyeing the other, Aiko would slowly nod. "Yes, of course. It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Orun Hyuzu." Aiko began. Waiting for the man to sit down, she would speak up again. "I would have introduced you to the team. As most squad leaders tend to do so. However, they are currently being trained and I consider that they have enough to focus on. Not to mention, it gives us some time to talk and discuss some matters." Pausing for a second, Aiko decided to bring up a question. "I suppose that I should start with bringing up the question on how much lower ranked personnel you have mentored. Specifically, the likes of genin and chuunin. Or anything of similar rank and capability."

Orun met Aiko's gaze as he sat down at the table. "That is fine, I'll meet them eventually afterall." Orun said simply, then turned to the question. "That depends on the context of the mentoring. I have trained with and mentored less experienced chuunin before, and I briefly mentored two of the genin in the team I was previously assigned to, but it was more of simple guidance in areas I had more experience in. The last squad I was in… well the team leader was not fond of others doing his job for him, shall we say."

Taking some mental notes, Aiko would wait for Orun to conclude his answer. "Most don't like the idea of a lower ranked to take over their job. It makes them look bad and much more." She could imagine that some would be quite frustrated with such a scenario. "I will want to lay down some rules for that but we will come that in a bit." The woman further added. Crossing her legs over one another, Aiko paused for a second.

"What do you find the most difficult when it comes down to mentoring lower ranked members of a team?" She asked, leaning slightly back in her seat.

"A lack of willingness and dedication when learning." He said simply. He had his own experience to speak of for that particular reason. "It can sometimes be difficult to mentor someone who gets discouraged easily, or simply is not interested in the tutoring. It is easily the most difficult aspect of the task." He folded his hands and set them in his lap, leaning back in his chair just as Aiko did.

"No need to worry about that. Each student of mine in this current formation is quite eager to learn." She would respond, at first. Perhaps a bit too eager, Aiko thought to herself. "If I have to think of something, I think that the biggest obstacle will be to accept you as a form of authority. I have mentored two of them for some time. One is more recent." Pondering for a second, Aiko would continue."So, I suppose that should be your first obstacle and working point. Making them accept you as somebody that can give some orders when I give green light for it. Or when I am not around. I could order them but I believe we both are familiar with how stubbornly loyal some people can be. To the point they won't like to accept another person to command them."

Orun smiled pleasantly. "Then it will be my first goal to do so." Orun let out a mental sigh at the woman's words though. He had known it would be no easy task becoming a specialized jounin, but with those words, he knew that the problem would be compounded further than he really wanted it to be. All he could hope for now was that they would get over it quickly. He wasn't here to take command of the team after-all, he was here to learn just as much as they were.

Subtly nodding, she could think of more obstacles. Truth told was that she wasn't entirely sure on how Satia and Neji would react. Knowing Kazumo, she assumed that he would be the most difficult for Orun to gain the cooperation and respect he would probably like. But truth be told, that wasn't her concern. Unless it would escalate, she thought to herself. "Good. Are there any questions, so far, that you have for me?"

Orun was quiet for a moment at the question. During the silence, he quickly pondered the question, then spoke. "Actually, I wanted to know what your students are like. I will meet them shortly, and don't get me wrong, I have read as much documentation on your team as I could, but I want to know what your thoughts on them are, as well as what they are like. I believe it would help me with my initial meeting with them." Gaining some experience as to what the other shinobi would be like would, Orun believed, help him find a way to get them to follow and listen to him while he was deployed on the team.

The question was fair. For a moment, Aiko pondered. She decided to start with Neji Uchiha. "We have an Uchiha on the team. Goes by the name of Neji. From what I can remember, he is from a noble line. If not, thé noble line of the Uchiha clan. Adhering to the bloodline of their founder." She began, "He is currently an inexperienced chuunin. Used to be prone to helping others and even thus not following some of my orders. I have managed to straighten him out as he discovered that disobeying orders can yield negative effects. To the point of even helping operating Zealots within the Rain province." The jounin would enlist a small pause. "Currently, I believe he needs some more work on how to apply his skills and abilities. I wouldn't consider nor desire to describe him as one of the smartest chuunin I have ever seen. His lack of experience, despite being once part of Team 9, only makes this worse. What makes the boy redeemable is his loyalty and drive to progress further. He has potential but needs to learn that not everything goes quickly."

Then there was another chuunin that came up in Aiko's mind. "The second and most experienced member on the team that also is a chuunin, goes by the name of Kazumo Sarutobi. Descendant of the Sigeberth lineage. And thus a relative of her Majesty. He is a competent archer and quite used to stealth as tracking. Currently the focus for him is being on hand to hand and swordsmanship. I believe he is going to be the toughest nut for you to crack. While Kazumo isn't quickly to distrust others, he has a rather stubborn sense of loyalty. I imagine I can be wrong but he isn't quickly to accept others to just boss him around. Respects need to be earned and given, kind of guy. Considering his progression, I would dare to say that Kazumo will be able to develop quite nicely if given more time, chances and with some more dedicated training."

Another pause would be enlisted as Aiko collected her thoughts on the last member of the team. "The only genin on the team goes by the name of Satia Cho. She might be the least experienced in terms of combat and missions, she is witty. Quick to learn and adapt, I consider her to have a lot of potential. She has a rather interesting form of combat that I desire to expand myself in the near future. Not to mention she is the designated medic-nin of the team. If we going to need one. Her quality as a genin is the one that I actually would demand from the Academy. Disciplined and capable."

At some point during the conversation between the pair, Orun had produced a small leatherbound notebook, and a small pencil, which he was currently scribbling in. Notes, personal thoughts, and major events in his life were recorded in the small book, and the binding was visibly worn. This was not his only notebook, but simply his latest one, and he had filled many taking notes such as these over his lifetime. When Aiko was finished speaking, he looked up from his writing, and leaned back again, pleased with his notes. "Well then, I suppose that sums up what I need to know about them then, I appreciate the information immensely. The rest will come with time and work." He tapped his chin with the pencil, a thoughtful look on his face. "I should let you know, that I will succeed in learning and leading in my role, no matter what happens. I am not one to shrink away from a challenge. Was there anything else you'd like to ask of me? I suppose this must have really been a pause in our conversation."

As Orun started to take notes, Aiko didn't show any emotion or what she thought about it. It gave a good impression, though. "You're welcome," was given in return when the man thanked her for the information. The statement, however, that he would succeed in learning and leading in his role, no matter what happened gave cause for Aiko to make a mental note. She could appreciate somebody that was driven. But she had seen before what could happen to those who were too eager for personal success. Yet, the woman wouldn't speak against it. "Good to know. You would make a bad example of your rank as stature if you would be too afraid for a challenge." Aiko friendly replied as she considered a question for him.

"I might have one. Though, it is more of a suggestion than a question," she said, a faint smile briefly adorning her lips, "I am not entirely sure when I can hold a team meeting. Today, the three are training by somebody that I value a lot. A capable combatant. Tomorrow I wanted to give them some time off. I was going to check on how they were doing but a day off would perhaps do them some good. The day after that, we could have a team meeting. Yet, perhaps you could come up with a feasible plan to introduce yourself and try to already win a bit of their trust."

"Of course, it would be my pleasure. I will have plenty of time to think of something today and tomorrow. I have something in mind, however, we would need a field of some sort, I am unfamiliar with the city, so perhaps you might have a suggestion for such a place." Orun twirled the small pencil absentmindedly with one hand while he thought a moment more. "My partner Tireo was quite disappointed that he did not get to meet you. He was quite upset to learn that we would be having this conversation inside the cafe. Being a dragon and all."

"I will see if I can make a small list of suggestions later for you. It will depend on what you have planned but there is a large number of spots that can serve well for a team meeting." Aiko replied, at first. The mentioning of the Hyuzu's dragon wanting to meet her brought an apologising smile on Aiko's lips. "I am truth be told not very fond of many creatures. If you desire to bring your dragon to the team meeting, I will have to consider a place that won't be crowded. People don't tend to like having a dangerous creature such as a dragon around and about." Already she thought of some places but the problem was that they wouldn't gain any problems. "I will have likely a few places in mind but will come back later to you about them."

Upon hearing her distaste for creatures, Orun chuckled lightly. "I apologize, but unless circumstances expressly forbid it, Tireo accompanies me everywhere. He is no ordinary beast after-all." He continued twirling the small pencil. "Tireo is as intelligent as you or I, and is most certainly not driven by most primal urges. Spend enough time around him, and you might have quite a different opinion. They are noble creatures, and can be wise beyond their years." He sighed. "It is perhaps unfortunate that the voices that the dragon's wield seem to fall on deaf ears when it comes to what they look like." He cocked his head to the side. "I believe that when I introduce myself, given how large a part that Tireo plays in my life as a shinobi, it is only fit that he should be present. I will have to take up your offer as to a meeting place that will not be crowded."

She just nodded. Understanding that he had a different view, she wasn't going to change it just yet. Perhaps in time if her experience with creatures like dragons would change. Regardless of their intellect. "Well, you must understand that most don't like to have a dangerous creature on and about where their children roam. Or their cattle." Was all that Aiko decided to say regarding his earlier comment on the beasts. "Very well. I will see what I can arrange that provides no stress for anybody. Neither us or the locals. Despite my influence in this region, I don't want to see the boundaries of it. Do you have any remaining questions or anything else?"

Orun decided to refrain from remarking on her comment that Tireo was a dangerous creature. Such a thing could be said of many things, including humans, but out of respect for Aiko, Orun remained silent on the topic. "I have no wish to cause any trouble with locals, nor to terrify them needlessly." Orun considered her question, for a moment before continuing. "I received my orders and the briefing regarding my assignment, however, I would like to ask you what your personal expectations for me are, as well as what duties you plan for me to take on."

The question that he asked caused a second of pause to follow. "My personal expectations are that you know what to do and not to do. That you know what your place is, despite being higher ranked than the other members of the team. When I give an order that you follow it, even if you disagree or don't like it." Aiko started. "As for duties, I will first see how the team meeting goes. I am considering to delegate a few tasks on you but first the team meeting and then I can be certain what I can and can't delegate to you."

Orun nodded to the woman. Simple enough to understand. He indeed knew what his place was, he'd follow orders, even if he didn't like them. "Of course. I look forward to working as your subordinate." He pocketed the small book and the pencil. "Well then, was there anything else you wished to discuss?"

"No, this will suffice enough for me as first meeting," Aiko replied as she would flash a politelike smile afterwards. "I would advise to take the coming day or so easy. I might even have something for you to do, so don't party too hard while being on standby." Nodding to Orun, Aiko would wait for him to reply or take his leave. Already she started to consider what she had to arrange with this newest development for her team. Or teams, seeing there was that Team 4 as well. "If you do have some time. I can recommend to pay a visit to another team that is under my care. It is being led by Meilin Cho, Team 4." She said, following it up with giving the address where Team 4 resided and thus could be contacted.

Orun would briefly produce the notebook and pencil once again to note down the address and the name of the team and it's leader. "I am not one who really enjoys that kind of fun, so it is safe to say that I will be capable of performing my duties no matter what the occasion is." Orun hid the notebook and pencil away as he did so. "I was unaware that you were assigned to supervise another team. I shall make a visit to them within the next couple of days. Is there anything in particular that I should speak with them about, or would you just like for me to get acquainted with them?" Orun stood up as he asked, making it clear that his was his last question before his departure.

"For now, just getting yourself acquainted with them should suffice. I want to keep them somewhat independent on their own team leader. Considering the majority of them are chuunin with a good record, I don't think they need much guidance as my inexperienced chuunin and genin." Aiko answered. She considered giving more information but decided to let him also conduct and try to figure matters out on his own. The chance was slim that could go wrong, she thought to herself.

Orun nodded in reply. "Very well, I will see if I can't meet them before the team meets. If you need to contact me, I will be at the same inn as before." Orun considered his next words for a moment, pausing, then finished. "It was a pleasure meeting you, ma'am, as I said before, I look forward to working under your command." Orun gave a respectful bow, and then left the cafe.

A collab between Gero and Oblivion
Summary: Mitsunari quickly tries to address an issue before it escalates.

He still couldn't believe that idiot did what she did, so many thoughts ran through his mind when he witnessed it. The first being that the people were right to fear, they were right to hate them. They were suppose to trust the shinobi to not randomly injure them, children especially. Walking through the street he could already hear the anger of the people in the central plaza. This would probably be a huge headache for him but he also had to prove he wasn't like the previous Jounin Commander who let situations like these go unpunished, or never even thought about. He had to prove that when it got difficult that he wasn't just going to back down and quit. They could yell, curse, and call him whatever they wanted. Yet he was also going to show that when he noticed a problem that it would change.

Arriving at Central Plaza he could see quite the gathering of angry people had gathered. News of what Ryu did had spread quite quickly it seemed. His arrival also seemed to spur their wrath a bit more as the shouting only grew louder. This prompted some police that were doing patrols to linger a bit close in case something broke down, Mitsunari made sure that no Shinobi besides himself was there. They were why this was even happening after all and to hell with asking permission with the new Amekage. She could yell at him later for doing this without approval.

The shouting didn't seem like it was going to end which was making the whole speaking loudly enough for them to hear rather challenging. Clearing his throat though he would begin speaking. "Everyone may I please have your attention!!!!" He would shout loudly enough to get most of the yelling to simmer down. "I won't beat around the bush! You all have very good reasons to be furious about what happened! I am as well! We are trained to not make retarded decisions like that, mostly near civilians! Yet obviously something is going wrong with how the training is being handled these days! I receive reports after reports of shinobi making stupid mistakes and doing asinine things! Things that you all have great reasons to be upset over! I'm here to inform you that from now on, things will be much stricter for shinobi! No more slaps on the wrist if they fuck up! No more words of praise for simple achievements! No more forgiveness when they mess up and play the victim card! The academy will be changed to my design. Meaning they only graduate if they stand up to my standards of what a Shinobi means! Punishments will be more severe as well! If I have to send everyone back to the academy then I will! I'm not below demoting them, and I'm certainly not below firing them. I'm also certainly not below imprisoning them! If they commit a crime then they shall be charged like any criminal would be!" Mitsunari would decree meaning every word on the changes that would be under going for the shinobi as a whole for Amegakure. They had too many revolts because of their shortcomings, which was leading other countries to pick up on these weaknesses.

"I also wish to know since you the people have been affected by this the most! I wish to take your input into consideration as well! I want to know what you all want changed!" Mitsunari would ask the gathering, already bracing for what would be probably a lot of angry shouting.

The words of Mitsunari invoked a certain silence. People mumbled and there were some faint shouts. More guards would arrive as more civilians were flocked to the particular event. Some people seemed content but a lot more seemed angry.

"Hang the abusers!" A man shouted. Within a few seconds, a few more started to join in. Fists were raised as the demand was clear.

"You say nice words but what good will it do to the victims?!" A woman managed to scream above the short-lived chant.

"More guards on the street!"

"Take the shinobi's weapons away!"

"Why doesn't the Amekage not bring back order and peace?!"

Thankfully he could hear some of them over the angry shouting, as more and more demands would pick up, some he could work on and some he couldn't. He couldn't go around hanging everyone or else he risked her majesty coming over and wonder where the shinobi division went.

"I can't hang every wrong doer but those that commit deeds that equal to murder and mass murder will be prosecuted with the possibility of such! For the victims, they will be compensated for what befell them! It won't change what happened but it will let them know that I intend for change to happen!" He said as more and more demands would come, some he had no control over in the freaking slightest.

"I will talk with the Police commander about more patrols being done, I want to know just as much as you if the shinobi aren't doing what they are being trained to do! If it comes down to it, I will take their weapons away! I've done it before and if that means I have to take them away from everyone then so be it!" Mitsunari shouted as he heard one about the Amekage to which he remained silent for a bit wondering how to answer that question.

"I can't speak for the Amekage! Yet if the Amekage doesn't intend to bring order to Amegakure, then I sure as hell will! This is my home and I'll be damned if the people that were trained to protect it, bring about its ruin!"

"Talk?! We want action!" One man shouted, gaining the approval of the crowd as some more shouted the same.

"Those who harm children are already murderers in the making! Best be off with their heads chopped off!" Another man shouted. The crowd was getting rowdier but there was no attempt or sign that they would make any movement to storm Mitsunari or cause any other form of mayhem than shouting demands.

"If you took their weapons away, then take it again! Do it, old man!" A woman shouted, throwing a fist in the air towards Mitsunari. Some more people joined in with the woman, demanding that the weapons would be taken away from the shinobi within the city.

"Kick them out of the city! We only need the bloody fucking guard!"

"And I shall do my best to get action done! Yet I can't control the police and what they choose to do! Yet I will make sure that the guard is more active in the streets! And if it comes down to it again! Then I will certainly consider the death penalty for the harm of children! They are our future after all!" That last bit was more so a lie. If he executed everyone that hurt a child, then half this damn city would probably be on the damn chopping block. Sometimes it was better to agree with them than to try and bargain after all, besides odds are if a serious case like such did come up, they probably would be executed after all.

"I took away the weapons from those that weren't ready to use them! Some need to learn that they are dangerous and should be treated as such! I take them away from those people! Punishing those that have shown time and time again that they will protect this place, would be like punishing everyone for what one criminal did!" Mitsunari shouted while he refrained from getting pissed from being called an old man. He was in his late twenties that wasn't freaking old!

So when the demand of kicking the shinobi out and replacing them with the guard, he would sigh at some of these ridiculous demands. All hot headed people bothered over the mistakes and fuck ups of a few people. These mistakes would be handled, and the academy would undergo a change, that was for certain.

"Not even the guard is perfect! They sadly can't be everywhere, and I can't kick them out of the city! I can however promise a change! I have that power to make sure they either shape up to my standards or they get the boot! I'm not like the previous one before me who quit when things got tough, I came to all of you to tell you I don't plan on letting shit like what happened just go unnoticed! If I have to flip the Amekage the bird and get things done my way, then so be it! No one gets special privileges! Not the Amekage, not the shinobi, the guard or even me! The time for coddling what's wrong is over!"

There had been a few people that shouted a remark about shinobi being scum. Being deceitful bastards that were just out for themselves. But slowly a silence would echo behind the replies of Mitsunari. There were more and more people who nodded or raised a fist, emphasising their agreeing on Mitsunari's words and actions. Small groups would leave the plaza and the tension of before seemed to slowly ebb away. There were still some that seemed angry but no longer were there demands being flung towards Mitsunari's address.

He was growing more relieved when the crowd grew more and more silent. Some even agreeing with him on what he stood for, leaving the plaza to emphasis that they were pleased for now with what he said. It didn't click with him until now what he basically was doing. He was doing something the Amekage should be doing, calming the people and easing their worries and yet she did nothing. He could for a moment put himself into the peoples shoes and see what they meant. They had a kage basically not caring for the people they should be, not fixing any issues.

"I understand what you all mean though, it's clear the Shinobi need to be reevaluated and I plan on doing such. Yet all these problems in general that keep arising, attacks, corruption. Problems that should be addressed not by me but by the Amekage. I can't even praise them cause what is their to praise? Lack of communication? The ability to sit on ones ass while the city burns around them? I can't make excuses, its not who I am. So while the Shitkage may be doing nothing. I will do whatever I can to keep this place safe, all I ask is for your cooperation and trust and I will fix the problems that the previous leaders left."

The words of Mitsunari once more caused people to shout but some even cheered. The words had a positive effect as most did agree. The frustration and irritation of the crowd on the passivity of the provincial government became clear. Present guards seemed to become a bit more tense but didn't do anything regarding the crowd's behaviour.

Slowly more and more people started to leave the yard, some shouting the words of Mitsunari as they did so.

More and more the people seemed to be growing content with what he had to say, as more left the yard while a few hung around to see if he had anything else to say. Yet he really had nothing left to say, he told them what he planned to do and he was going to make sure changes took place. First thing was to change the shinobi academy, things did need to change there and he would make sure that all future and current shinobi knew that things wouldn't be so lax anymore. Punishment would be dealt with no matter the situation, he would make sure of that.

"I thank you all for listening to me peacefully despite the situation that caused all this. I only ask that you give me time to begin fixing the mess that has piled up way too long in Amegakure. I can't promise that change will come right away I can promise that it will come with time. So with your cooperation we will bring Amegakure back to its prime." Mitsunari would tell the few remaining people which was meet with mixed emotions as the last of them started to leave as well. Rubbing his forehead he would pray that they would give him the time needed to even begin fixing the clusterfuck this place was in. First things were first, updating the shinobi academy.[/fieldbox]

Southern Districts | Amegakure

A woman walked in the night, moving quietly and quickly. She was on her way home from a celebration, a night that had been all about her. Her birthday. She was a little inebriated, that much was evident. Well, maybe more than a little, given how she stumbled every so often. The woman whipped around suddenly as she heard something shatter against the pavement. She stared at it, finding the matter difficult to comprehend in her hazy state of mind. "A… roof tile?" She thought to herself "That's funny…." She laughed, finding the sight funny, for one reason or another. Then she stopped laughing, as quickly as she had started. She walked off, heading for her home. Along the way, she took a turn into an alley. A shortcut that she often used on her way home in the daylight, after she had gotten off work, but now it was dark, and slightly sinister looking. She set to humming as she walked along, delving into the alley without so much as a hesitant thought. It was not long before the woman was forced to stop. A large brick wall stood in her path. The thing before her blocked her way forward. She must have made a wrong turn, she reasoned in her addled state of mind, and turned round to head out of the alley.

There was a child standing there, at the end of the alley, blocking her path.

The child was 5'3 or so, the woman estimated, and the eyes of the child shone in the light, as did the shinobi headband adorning her head. She recalled that the headband was the shinobi one. A symbol of the ninja corp that the Empire had under their employ. This one was a child though, and she again chuckled at one of her thoughts. Child soldiers, playing at being adults. The woman started to walk forward, but she stopped and stumbled back a few feet. She had walked right into a mess of wires, invisible in the dim light, but she could feel them with her hands. Not thinking much of it, she turned to back up away from the wires and extract herself from them, but again, she walked into a wall of them. She looked to where the child had been, intending to ask the shinobi for help, but when she did, the child wasn't there.

A sort of clarity settled over her mind, breaking through the inebriation as she felt a sense of panic beginning to develop as she felt her invisible prison beginning to shrink. She was stuck in a mess of wires in a dark alley, and right now, she could not seem to find a way out of them. She was about to yell for help, but a sharp pain in her throat cut her off. She felt something hot and sticky spurt out onto her hands, and suddenly she found that she could not breathe. When she groped at her throat in the dark, she found the hilt of a kunai knife stuck there. The woman gurgled softly as she fell forward, supported by the wires, and blood began pooling inside her lungs. Then she felt several more sharp pains. One to the back of both of her knees, two to her chest, and finally, a single, blossoming pain that embedded itself in her spine. The woman felt her consciousness sink into blackness, and felt no more.

Meanwhile, the child crouched in behind the woman, it's work done. It stood up, cocked it's head to the side, and pulled on the gloves that covered their hands. Without so much as a second glance, it turned around and left the scene, blood painted on their brow from where they had stabbed the injured woman in the spine, disappearing into the night.[/fieldbox]
