  1. The Azuha Clan History (open)

    Name:
    The Azuha Clan

    Location:
Northeast of Amegakure - The Azuha Village/The Azuha Residence.

    Appearance:
Surrounded by industrial parts. Small houses with its own cemetery for the members of the Azuha. A big training field for the members. Two big houses with an estate behind them. Houses representing the Greater and the Lesser Branch, while the Estate is for the Head Branch.

    Description:
The history of the Azuha Clan dates back to 50 years before the founding of Amegakure. It all started with three siblings, though they were all female. Saya Azuha, Tobari Azuha and Kaguya Azuha. The latter was the oldest of the siblings. They resided in a small village to the east of where Amegakure now exists. Back in their days, they were quite cherished by the villagers. They provided the habitants with food, corps and made sure the village was quite prosperous. They were the three leaders, however, the oldest, Kaguya was the one the villagers turned to. One thing that was to be noted, despite being siblings, was the color their eyes held. The color of their eyes represented the element they had an affinity towards.

    Skyblue represented the Wind element.

    Blue represented the Water element.

Light Green/Green represented the Earth element.

    Orange/Red represented the Fire element.

    Purple represented the Lightning element.

However, before the Azuha became known throughout the Amegakure history, the siblings had none but three elements. Kaguya had the Wind, where Tobari had the Earth, and Saya with Fire. The leadership eventually fell with the oldest one. She was known for her elegancy and her beautiful traits. It was quite notable that even her own siblings turned to her in dire situations.
As time went by the village was eventually named as the Azuha village, and it was not chosen by the siblings, rather the people residing in it.

Kaguya was almost worshipped by the villagers. She was like a messiah. With an extensive chakra pool unlike her younger siblings, she was extremely well-versed in ninjutsu, and was even able to use medical ninjutsu, through her first element, the Wind. She eventually became an expert when her second element, Water was unlocked. Her senses, especially her eyes, were quite perceptive, and the chakra flow/control through the bodies of the siblings was quite adapt and concentrated. In later discoveries, as the siblings protected the village from many outsiders, it was eventually, but slowly known throughout the many rumors, that their chakra control/concentration, was on a different level. And if they concentrated well enough, they could feel the locations of their own chakra points, and could use this knowledge in an offensive or a defensive way.

Since all human body shapes are the same, with the knowledge of the location for their own chakra points, they can use taijutsu to possibly render the chakra points of the enemy by closing them with force, just like an Hyūga, or protect themselves if someone tries to do the same with their own chakra points. The enemies, eventually gave them the nickname "The Three Pearls", because of their beauty, and how elegant their fighting style was.

The strongest traits resided in the oldest. Her eyes were the most perceptive ones. Even her own body could be more resilient and stronger through the control of her chakra, than her younger siblings. Their own past was unknown to even them. Since they mostly survived without parents, and were picked up by a wanderer, who settled in a village, which was now known as the Azuha. His name was Hideto Nishia. He was like a father to them, who eventually died by old age.

As time progressed, the founders of the clan, the siblings, married into different families. The clan progressed and expanded, as they all kept the name "Azuha". Eventually, the clan, and even the village had a symbol, which represented the Azuha's, and the elements that resided inside the oldest sibling, Kaguya. Sky Blue represented the Wind, and Blue represented the Water element.

The shape of the symbol, the crest was of a small circle in the center to the color representing the Wind element, and the outer unfinished circle, representing the element Water. However, the outer circle had a pointy shape at the top, but at the bottom, there was a small gap, like a small gate, allowing for more possibilities. The reason for why the outer circle was unfinished in the symbol, was because of the rumored third element, Kaguya had, which was Lightning. It was also said that the color of her eyes, changed from skyblue to that of purple.

The symbol, the Azuha clan, represents protection, freedom, courage and tranquility.

It was later discovered, throughout the decades that the members of the clan, who were born with a different eye color to that of skyblue, or even blue, had lesser perception to that of the former. The chakra control, was however, equal throughout the members from the Azuha Clan. But, the ability to concentrate with the chakra, was different, depending on the eyes. They were tied into the nerve system and the mind, which had an impact on their own concentration. Though, only a direct descendant of Kaguya, or those of the Azuha who were born with either Water or Wind element, had the highest concentration, than any of the others in the clan.

Though, even if they were not stronger than the Azuha with Wind or the Water element, they could still utilize the skills in the same way, though it would take more toll on their bodies, unless they keep it limited, based on their own chakra concentration or, even their eyes and the color representing the element they have an affinity with.

Since the siblings time was no more, and as time went by, the clan eventually split into three branches.

The Head Branch - Consists of members with the element of Wind or Water, with eyes to the color of skyblue or blue.

The Greater Branch - Consists of members with the element of Earth, with eyes to the color of Light Green or Green.

The Lesser Branch - Consists of members with the element of Fire, with eyes to the color of Orange or Red.

The clan only consists of these three branches, and throughout the traditions, only a member of the Head Branch can become the heir/ess, or in other words, the leader of the clan. There is, however, another way for one to become the leader.

The Elder Council, if in agreement, can point a member from the Greater Branch as the leader, but they cannot go lower than that, unless a member is a genius/prodigy. As for the element Lightning, since it is very rare, and not a single member from any of the branches has had such an affinity, it is not spoken of, unless its about Kaguya and her legend.

Since very little is known about an Azuha with the Lightning element, or what power it would actually possess with the combination of the Azuha eyes, and if a member eventually has an affinity for Lightning as their first element, they will be placed with the Lesser Branch, until further research.

If a member eventually is born with Earth, Fire or even Water as their first element, their second element will be Wind. Every member of the clan, either as first, or secondary element, has an affinity to Wind. If you are however, born with Wind as your first element, then your second element can be either Water, Fire or Earth. None has had Lightning as their first/second element so far.

Amegakure was founded in The Rain Country, and the Azuha village was also a part of the said country, though on the northeast. As Amegakure grew and expanded over time, they eventually made the Azuha village a part of it.

Since they became a part of Amegakure years later after its foundation, they kept to themselves for some time, and slowly grew within and through generations. They ended up becoming a very prosperous clan. The Azuha clan became very organized. The impact from the events regarding the Sūta clan and the Metsuke invasion did not affect them significantly. Fortunately for them, the numbers of the members in their clan did not decrease by alot. They were basically a clan that were able to survive before and after the occupation was over. They were also very supportive to the decisions of Ryoku Samidare.

    ________

The decisions of the Head Branch is something all the branches have to abide by, and follow them through. The relationship between the Head Branch and the Greater Branch is still preserved on a great and positive level, wheras the Lesser Branch is not thrilled by the decisions made by the Head Branch, and how they support the treaty. They feel like they're left out, and dislikes the Greater Branch.

Every branch has its own leader, and can somewhat move independently, though they must follow the orders of the Head Branch in the end.

The Head Branch has absolute rule over all sayings. The Elder Council are basically advisors who hold great knowledge within the clan and outside. They can, with good reason behind their action, appoint, as mentioned before, a leader for the clan from the Greater Branch, if they so wanted to. All the branches must still agree with them.

The Greater Branch keeps the clan rules and traditions intact. They are the Police Force that keeps things, the rules intact and on track. The clan has their own little law. With a good reason or cause, or with evidence, they can even accuse someone from the Head or the Lesser Branch for anything criminal done within the clan, against it, or anything similar. However, not all members in this branch are a member of the Police Force.

The Lesser Branch are to protect the clan leader, along with the Head Branch and the Greater Branch. They are the Main Force, and deals with any threats made against the branches, or the clan as a whole.

The Hidden Ghost Branch is more like a special organization within the clan itself, lead by the leader of the Lesser Branch. Their goal is simple. What benefits Amegakure benefits the Azuha Clan. If someone has to disappear or die, they will do it. They are basically the dark side of the Azuha Clan, who share a common goal, to be independent.

This branch is kept secret and only the leader of the Lesser Branch knows of it. They specialize in ninjutsu, taijutsu, genjutsu, sensory and especially assassination. It is a branch with members spread throughout the three main branches, and they dont have a specific location known to the public in Amegakure. Their base is usually underground to that of the Azuha village.

The Azuha Clan is now growing in reputation, as they are trying to strengthen their relationship in public, and especially in Amegakure.

It is also noted that many members in the Azuha Clan, despite any branch, usually learn the ways of Genjutsu in combination with their traits. Though thats more like a secondary goal for most of the members, as the primary one is to learn the hidden techniques within the clan along with ninjutsu. Taijutsu is always a must in combination with any style. Every member has to learn taijutsu, especially the ones with the Wind element.

Also, most of the Azuha members makes a contract with any species as long as its a bird, representing the message freedom and peace. This is in their point of view since they become one with the wind. They are cherished by most of the Azuha members, though it is not mandatory. It is only optional. Most of the members usually pick the birds because they remind them about Kaguya and her connection to the element, Wind.

Traditions - Outfits - Traits - Current Positions (open)

    Traditions:

Marriage - The members of the Azuha clan usually marry within the clan. Keeping the secrets of the clan unknown to the outsiders. Despite the free decision since the time of the three siblings, things drastically changed throughout the generations. However, one is allowed to marry a member from any branch. Once a marriage ceremony occurs, a festival within the branch is held for an entire day, though every branch is invited. If a marriage between two people from two different branches occurs, the festival is held for two days and one night. To respect and honor each branch, the festival is held in both branches for an entire day, making it two days.

Head Branch Leader/Azuha Clan Leader - Throughout the generations, a very simple tradition has been kept. The leader of the Azuha Clan must be a female, since the time of Kaguya, who was the leader of the Azuha. Though as for the leader for the Greater and the Lesser Branch, it can be either a male or a female. If the clan leader has a son, he will not be appointed as the next clan leader, but rather, given the option to challenge the Greater or even Lesser Branch leader for their position.

Rite of Challenge - 50 years after the era of the three siblings, a member of the Azuha, Kamiko Azuha, challenged the clan leader. It eventually led to the challengers victory, which made her the next leader. It became a tradition throughout the decades/generations and has been kept since. Once the challenger attains victory, she will be appointed as the leader. If a Lesser Branch member attains victory over the clan leader, he/she will be appointed as the leader of the Greater Branch, since a Lesser Branch member cannot become the clan leader. The Greater Branch leader does have the right to ask the victor for a duel to keep his position intact. This tradition rarely happens, since a significant power gap can be seen between the leaders of each branch. In a challenge, you can also submit defeat by giving up.

Coming of Age - Once a member is 15 years old, he is considered an adult, and is treated as such, despite any branch. However each member from any branch must respect one another. To uphold the honor, the loyalty amongst eachother. However, a small test is required. A test to see how the body has been kept, and how much the member can utilize the traits of the clan, or if he needs more training. A special program to eventually train a member with the lack to utilize such skills will be made. It would also involve the hidden techniques.

Outfits - Since the three branches were established, there has been certain clothing to distinguish them apart.

    - The Head Branch wears clothing with a combination of the colors black, white, blue and skyblue. The forehead protector representing the village can be placed anywhere, as long as its visible to the public.

    - The Greater Branch wears clothing with a combination of the colors black, green and lighter green. The forehead protector representing the village can be placed anywhere, as long as its visible to the public.

    - The Lesser Branch wears clothing with a combination of the colors black, red and orange. The forehead protector representing the village can be placed anywhere, as long as its visible to the public.

    - The Police Force wears clothing with a combination of colors black, white and green. The forehead protector representing the village can be placed anywhere, as long as its visible to the public. They wear a customized jacket from the Azuha clan. The crest is embedded on the front of the jacket, right side of the chest. There is an extra circle in their crest that basically tells the members of the Azuha that they are the Police. The color of this circle is green, representing the Greater Branch.

    - The Hidden Ghost Branch wears masks and light clothing with a combination of the colors grey, black and sometimes white. Some wear Oni Masks, while some don't. The forehead protectors representing the village is not shown in public, or to their target, unless its absolutely neccessary. The symbol of the clan is not shown on their clothing.

    - The Clan Symbol is usually at the back, in between the shoulder blades, just like an Uchiha's. Though its on the clothing. It can also be on both the shoulder sides, and not on the back. You can also wear customized clothing representing your branch, with the symbol placed in a different location than the usual.

    High Chakra Control/Concentration

    Kekkei Genkai (open)

    Tendōgan:

The Azuha are known for having some special eyes. Even if their known for the diversity in color when it comes to such eyes. They have the ability to affect an area in such a way that they can comprehend any detail in their surroundings, depending on what they would focus in. It can also be enhanced, depending on the object/person. The bigger an area, the more focus it would need. The smaller the area or an object, the faster the details will be collected. It is similar to that of the Byakugan and even Sharingan. However, it cannot follow fast movement, but it has the ability to perhaps predict it if enough detail about said object or the surroundings has been gathered.

The Azuha Clan excel in such eye technique, since it can be used in many different ways. It can be used to identify something, and even genjutsu or in combination with sensory. It is a versatile Dojutsu and one can know when a member is actually using it. The iris will shift in form. But it is quite similar to the eyes of a fox or a snake. Though an average young member would not be able to keep the eyes focused for very long, or even catch most of the details in their vicinity. In the end, the Dojutsu is connected to ones chakra and their mind. And the color of the eyes greatly signifies how strong one can become by utilizing such Kekkei Genkai. However, the Tendōgan is not deemed or ranked as a powerful Dojutsu such as the Byakugan or the Sharingan.

The Kekkei Genkai is still growing, and it is known that the ones who are born into the Head Branch has the possibility to reach the peak of such Dojutsu.

  2. The Hon Clan

    ''We Remember.''

    • ''Man is to man either a sheep or a wolf.''

      Name :
      The Hon Clan
      Village
      Ties with Konohagakure.
      Estate/Compound
The majority of the clan lives in the Hon Estate (though the real name is Magnhild - Derived from Old Norse magn "mighty, strong" and hildr "battle") , Northeast of Konohagakure, around 150 km away.

      Traits
      * Most have the ability to weave handsignals at a faster rate than the average shinobi
      * Many of the clan are born with a slighty bigger chakra pool, but it can vary.
      * Overall, the chakra control of an average Hon shinobi starts poorly.
      * Most of the Hon's have an affinity for lightning.
      * Due many of the known Hon's having white coloured hair, it is believed that many have white coloured hair.
      * Typical Hon's are raised and educated in a different manner, trained to become quick thinkers. But some become too proud and thus sometimes arrogant

*The fact that many people who live in the 'homelands' of the Hon clan have the surname, isn't because they necessarily are Hon's in blood. They follow the traditions and the manners that dictate the Hon clan. This means that the Hon surname is more an indication of the traditions and culture or their origins.

      -The Uchiha Clan
      - Currently seem to be 'forced'
The alliance between the Hon and Uchiha clan was once a personal alliance between Daisuke Uchiha and Sahoru Hon. With having Zakito as his student, Daisuke had wanted to create a good bond between the Uchiha and Hon. However presently it seems that some Uchiha tends to view it differently while the Hon's don't seem to care much for the Uchiha's in general. There is a growing interest in the Uchiha, however, seeing that they are at the present the only other clan who are being promiment in the Empire's higher echolon.

      The Hyuzu Clan
      - Currently, there is a clear respectful and some sort of friendly rivalry between the two cultures/clans.
The history of the Hyuzu and Hon clan is one of long ago, but with clear effects on the present. In the older days when the Hon clan conducted raids on other clans and regions, they also clashed often with the Hyuzu clan. Being often the aggressors, the Hon clan attempted a few campaigns to bring the Hyuzu to heel. The results, however, weren't that fruitful as the Hyuzu kept them at a stalemate. From this, a certain warrior respect and rivalry came into existence that is still noticeable today.

      -The Sarutobi Clan
      - Very strong bond
Due to a long history of cooperation (and some conflict), the respect that the Sarutobi and Hon have for each other seems almost natural. With similarities between the Hon and Sarutobi, it is no surprise that the clans are quite close.

      -The Moto Clan
      - Strong connection
Due to the bond between Zakito Hon and Jinkama Moto, the connection between the Hon and Moto clan has grown stronger due to the marriage between Hiron and Keiko.

      -The Inuzuka Clan
      Very strong bond
Due a long history of cooperation (and some conflict) the respect that the Inuzuka and Hon have for each other seems almost natural.

      -The Nimatsu Clan
      - A connection
The Nimatsu and Hon clan history is one of bloodshed and conflict. Twice have the clans faced off against each other and while the most of the younger generation have no ill will against each other, there is some bad blood in the old generation. While the current leaders seem to respect each other and with the Empress declaring that fighting between clans wouldn't accepted, the old conflict between the Hawk and Wolf seems to be over.

      - Cho Clan
      -Very strong bond
With the marriage between the Cho and Hon clan leader, the relation between the Hon and Cho's seems to prosper, like before. The clans are already interacting quite a lot due trade as they also share a lot of similarities between one and another.

      The Hyuuga clan
      - Indifferent
Most Hon's aren't bothered with the fact that the Hyuuga dislike them. Some even view it as a result that the Hyuuga are simply envious of the Hon clan as they can boast a same great amount of tradition and history, where they have brought forth more prominent people than the 'eye bulge'ers' , thus not needing to view them as a rival.

      - Homura Dynasty
      - Stark loyal
The Homura dynasty is seen in the eyes of the Hon clan as a cadet branch. Even so, the Hon don't view themselves on the Imperial throne because of their connection to the dynasty.

    • Even while the clan has no unique ranking system within the clan, there are some positions within the clan that are different than that of the shinobi. It dates back to the time when the clan had been formed by the Founder ,Hisho Hon, and while may consider a bit outdated, it's still being used. Seeing that the Hon clan is divided between the regular Hon's and Noble Branch, one would expect some difference among them. There is not. The only difference between the two is that the Head of the Clan is from one of the Noble Branches, as they can lay claims that they are heirs of the one of the many mythical or historical heroes of the clan's folklore and culture.

And as expected, within the Noble Branch, there are differences. The Noble Branch exist in three large family trees, each close to each to each other - though each family tree doesn't share blood together like one would see with other clans. Instead of an main branch, the Noble branches are divided in three. The difference in being a member of the Hon clan and born into one of the branches is that those born in any of the noble branches can claim that they descend from the old Hon that came from the north or at least ruled over the various cities and areas that forms the Hon clan land.

      • The clan leadership of the Hon clan is inherited often from parent to child. The Hon clan, however, doesn't follow any succession law as most other clans where the children of a leader are set to become the leader. It doesn't happen often that the succession is being challenged, but with the open succession, many other Hons can potentially claim the leadership over the clan.

There are various 'rules' to claiming the leadership of the clan. The easiest manner is to be elected by the previous clan leader to become his or her successor. So far the Hons don't see to either favour male or female above one another, but just the person that has the most right with being the most capable. It is decided often who has the most right with simply going by looking at achievements. With the militant mindset and uprising that many Hons have enjoyed it isn't a surprise to learn that many - if not all - leaders of the clan in the past were veterans of battles and war, managing to distinguish themselves in some way to their kin. This hasn't always been the case as there have been several leaders elected and backed by the majority for their capability of leading without being distinguished leaders and veterans of war.

The rules that are applied to the open Hon succession law :

        * The person has to have nobility Hon blood in them. Being married or being adopted into the clan doesn't make one eligible for the clan's leadership unless the person desires to have a lot of unruly subjects.
        * The person has to be older than twenty years old and at the start of their tenure younger than forties years old.
        * If not appointed by the previous clan leader the person hopefully has the backing of the majority of the Hon nobility. If not, the person likely is going to face the punishment of being exiled or worse.
        * If there is a threat of a succession war that can't be ended quickly, it can be decided with a duel to the death. This rule does state that both participants aren't allowed to use anything else but a knife. While the opponent is promised that they will be honoured with a proper funeral, this rule hasn't seen much practice.

        In practice :

In the past, the Hon clan has seen a lot of in-fighting, which some happened thanks to the open succession being held in place. Many do claim and believe that this kind of succession is what keeps and makes them being led by a leader that is capable and strong, knowing what it takes to be a leader of a strong people. It has also led to uncomfortable situations where promising leaders would find their end because a more cunning opposition decided to end their lives before the respective clan leader would die of old age or abdicate their rulership.
A lot of past clan leaders also would alarm those who they favoured of that they would stand down or that they wouldn't probably live for much longer, enabling them to be capable of proclaiming themselves the clan leader before the previous leader's body would even be cold. It didn't do much to prevent the risk of succession wars and the intrigue as bloodshed. In the last hundred years, there haven't been many problems with the succession of the leadership. The last 'troublesome' succession was that the position was being taken over by Katsuro Hon, who was at Magnhild to proclaim himself the leader as Zakito wasn't twenty years by then - even while some did prefer the younger Hon above Katsuro.

      • Zakito Hon (Gerontis)
        Aiko Cho-Hon (Lesli)
        Kei Hon (Fieryfly)
        Akimoto Hon (Gerontis)

        Hiroshi Hon (Red Fox)

        Chinatsu Hon (Lillydove)
        - Killed by Yoshikuni Sadako, in the chuunin exams at the Sea Fort. Year of death : 476.

      Before the Founding :

The origin of the Hon clan is left in vague myths, legends and histories. There isn't much history covered from several centuries ago and there aren't many works that record the ways as the history of the tribes of the clan. These tribes followed similar ways and culture and many present day researchers about the Hon clan even consider that the name only popped up after the cultural groups migrated to the more temperate climate from the northern lands of the Lightning Country. The reasons behind this migration are likely due to the search of more fertile lands. Their warriors were fierce and managed to compete as each of these 'tribes' held the Wolf as their symbol - an animal that they greatly respected. With this history, it is unknown if the clan predated the tale of the Sage or came more prominent in history afterwards. There are some stories and myths that detail the settling down south, telling about how the Wolves hunted down the Coyotes. Who these people were, where they are now or what had become of them is, however, unknown.

There is even some proof in recordings that the Hon tried to expand after settling down. This has led to several clashes that can be found in other clan's history as the Hon clan either fought for more land, prestige or influence over others. There are several who try to argue and seek out the reason for this, but it is widely accepted that the Hon clan attacked and committed transgressions against clans who in their opinion showed weakness. Which lead to raids and eventually, if left unchecked, to assaults to gain control or drive another clan away. There is even some vague recordings and evidence found about Hon raiders going far north as up into the present day Earth country. Though a mark of success for their fierce warriors, there were signs that the Hon culture and tribes were started raid less. A few researchers state that this was leading to the 'civilising' of the Hon. There are however again, surprisingly, other researchers as even members of the clan who dispute such claims.

As time progressed and the tribes managed to further secure their foothold as expand a bit, it was becoming a problem that they were starting to get outnumbered. Enemies and rivals due to their past histories started to grow in number, outnumbering thus the Hon tribes and culture. In face of this problem, the inter-fighting would slowly grow to a halt. A man by the name of Hisoho started to unify the tribes and groups into one clan. It would become the start of the modern Hon clan as today.

      'Modern' Day Hon clan.

The centre of the Hon lands would be marked by the finding of Magnhild. Or in the more popular terms these days, the Hon Estate. While this unification led to the Hon clan to prosper, their conflicts with other clans wouldn't stop to cease. There have been several conflicts with clans such as the Inuzuka and Sarutobi clan. It is hard to depict why some conflicts were fought out, as there hasn't been much objective literature or evidence found that would clarify them. Only after some time did Hisho turn to more diplomatic manners to treat with other clans and factions. Some stories stated that was because he was war-weary and didn't wish to see more people to die. Other sources state that the majority of the Hon clan were afraid that in the conflicts they would need to be wary for a unified front against them.

This would be the start of the alliance between the Hon and several of their old bonds. It slowly progressed to the point that members of other clans were given access to settle in the area that the Hon saw as their home and heartland. Not that many diverse clans took up the offer, but it did see another rise of the prosperity of the clan. Hisho then started to share his own developed ninjutsu with his clan. They would need to train in a special way that they should keep secret from other clans as Hisho was afraid that if somebody else would learn the hidden techniques that it would prove disastrous for his kin. Though Hisho would never see the foundation of Konohagakure, most claim that through his wish for such a place that the Hon clan was willing to support the Leaf.

After Hisho's death, his oldest son was made clan leader. Inuziko Hon lead the Hon clan into great prosperity as he focused more on trade and diplomacy than trying to win renown and respect with showing how fierce his force could be. Married to Inia Sarutobi, Inuziko is regarded as the clan leader who managed to make the old and strong alliance between Hon and Sarutobi strong. As well being rumored to either found or made the White Blade that has been passed down in the clan.

While during Inuziko's reign everything was relatively peaceful, he did start to invest time and effort in creating the stout outer walls that one can still see standing when they visit the Hon estate. The clan leaders after Inuziko continued to improve the defenses and fortifications of the Hon Estate, making it into a stronghold instead of a place of peace as Hisho actually had intended. And it would continue on for a long time.

      Konohagakure.

Eventually with the Senju and Uchiha clan finding the Leaf, the Hon clan was wary. Though the place had something that seemed that Hisho would likely support, the Hon's remained somewhat distant as well showed some interest in trade and support. With Konohagakure growing over time, the Hon's started to become bitter as they had expected that the First Hokage would invite them into the village with allowing them to set up a compound as some other clans were allowed. When the Second Hokage started his campaign to introduce the Hon clan into Konohagakure, the frustrated and bitter grown elders of the clan refused as they found pride damaged. Though under the leadership of the young Sahoru Hon, the clan started to forge a stronger relationship with Konohagakure. While only one family, that of Sahoru's parents, moved into Konohagakure the Hon's started to lose their bitterness and disdain for Konohagakure.

With the outbreak of the Great War, the Hon clan thus prepared themselves eagerly as they hadn't been able to prove themselves in a good conflict for a long time. Perhaps the old days of raiding and conflict were over, the fighters of the clan had yet to lose their fierce capabilities in battle. With being able to support their Konoha allies, they eventually found themselves besieged by a Kirigakure Host. Though the Hon held their ground and made it troublesome for the Kirigakure nin to scale the walls and defences, they were losing slowly hope of a good end with the arrival of the Seven Swordsmen. Sending out several distress signals and messages to Konohagakure in order to receive aid, though not many of the brave messengers would manage to reach it.

With a relieving force of Konohagakure, the Hon clan managed to defeat the besieging Kirigakure host, but with grim losses. Sahoru Hon himself lost his life and for the first time in the clan's history, the White Blade was passed on to an heir that wasn't yet an adult. With Kirigakure beaten back, the clan, however, had no leader. While some started to vouch for Zakito, most went for Katsuro Hon as they claimed they needed somebody with more experience and not a young leader, again.

While the Great War was won, one could argue that it was a loss for the Hon clan. Underneath the leadership of Katsuro Hon, the Hon clan started to become more isolated from others. Even with some hoping that with a Hon as Hokage that the clan would be more welcomed into the Leaf, the bonds were quite fragile as Katsuro feared that Zakito would try to usurp him. Trying to divert the clan's attention, Katsuro was considering to find a suitable target to keep everybody focused while he could remain in power. Eventually with the troublesome short reign of the Konohagakure elders, the Hon clan started an underground war with the Nimatsu clan - one of their old rivals. While they started to book victories against the smaller Nimatsu clan, some Hon's doubted if it was truly beneficial for them to try to wipe the Nimatsu clan out. However, due Katsuro's cruel reign nobody dared to speak up against him. Eventually, however Katsuro was assassinated with several of his most trusted guards and the culprit has never been found.

(OOC info : Kensuke Nimatsu managed to sneak with some inside help into the Hon Estate. There he rescued his sister as well facing off against Katsuro Hon.)

With Katsuro's death, the Hon clan was leaderless and desperate. Due this they turned to Aiko Cho-Hon, who was married to Zakito Hon - who had however vanished - and requested her to lead them. While this was public knowledge, later it would come that Zakito had been leading the clan from the background as he didn't want the clan to follow the twisted future ideas that Katsuro had for the clan.

With Zakito's leadership the clan entered a new period of prosperity and better contact with Konohagakure. Eventually they gained a compound in the Leaf as they were loyal supports of the Fire Union as later the Akinian Empire. Though many think that the Hon are actually the ruling dynasty due Kiyomi Homura's ties to the clan, the Hon don't view themselves like that. Like some of their allies, they regard themselves as proud loyalists for the new Imperial crown.

    • ''I woke up one morning thinking about wolves and realized that wolf packs function as families. Everyone has a role, and if you act within the parameters of your role, the whole pack succeeds, and when that falls apart, so does the pack.''

As with having their own stronghold and place, the Hon need to defend it with their might from any potential enemies. The clan has been known before the foundation of the hidden villages to be a fierce clan, taking up arms against other strong clans and managing to drive some away or raiding them on occassion. This history and the feats of the clan brought forth a great sense of pride in many of the Hon clan members, which is still present in the majority of it's members and their culture.

      Loyalty
While the Hon clan doesn't hold honour in high regard, they view loyalty as one of the most important virtue. Even while they are often more self-focused, in the clan it is a grave thing to break one's word of loyalty to another. It is part of how Hon's are being raised. During their youths, they aren't directly inspired to praise the individualism but are learned that the group can be stronger if an effort is put to work together. This doesn't mean that the Hon culture disregard individualism as a bad thing. In fact, they do encourage self-focus, as long it doesn't hurt the bond the 'pack' nor bring it a bad spot. From this virtue, it has led that many Hons were more fond of dying at the side of their leaders than to yield. Of course, this is just in general. There are always a few who take it either too far or simply don't view loyalty as high as the majority of the culture and clan.

      White Blade
The carrier of the White Blade, a blade that is passed down the clan from father to son, is regarded as an honourable position in the clan. Previous owners of the White Blade are known to be fierce and brave protectors of the clan's name and honour. The blade is seen as an heirloom of the whole clan, making it pass down another if the previous owner of the White Blade had no children that were trained or interested in becoming the next. It is considered an honour to be the carrier of the White Blade as many see the person who wields it as a promising defender of the clan and culture of the Hon. There are some stories who state that as long as the blade is carried and used by a Hon, that there will be always some hope.

      The Dance of Sashes

Many girls that come of age - around eighteen - in the clan start to wear a sash around their waist. Around this age, the youngsters often venture more out to taverns and such establishments. When a Hon is interested in another, they approach the young woman and slowly reach out for the sash. This is silently requesting a dance. If the young woman doesn't accepts, she takes it away from him. And he has to go away, for it will be a grave incursion to keep holding on. If she allows the person to keep holding the sash, this means that she doesn't mind to share a dance or admits her interest in return.

      Rite of Age
The Hon clan has several ways on how a member of the clan can become seen as an adult or one with the wisdom or such traits of an adult. This includes battle prowess. Seeing that the clan has the Wolf as a mascot and that most are born with the affinity for Lightning jutsu, one of the rite of coming to age is the Lightning Release : Running Beast Technique. There are other ways to go about. For example, when a member of the clan can impress the leader it's not strange that they can pass the rite of age, by being called Wolf by the current leader.

For the non shinobi, it's often the age of 18 and able to take care of themselves when they pass the Rite Of Age.

In the past, the clan had a far more grim, crude and cruel rite of Age. Though the Hon clan sees the Wolf as a strong, cunning and worthy animal as symbol of their clan, there was once in the older days where a young member could put to the test. This test was where one would be thrown literally into the wilds. With nothing more than a knife they were tasked to find, hunt and kill a wolf. Then to bring the canines of the fierce predator back to their parents to show them that they were worthy of such a trophy.

Though it sounds easy for a trained shinobi, the person isn't allowed to use ninjutsu or anything else but his own skill, wit and that knife. In order to make sure that the person doesn't cheat, they are often watched by an experienced Hon. In case one cheats, they will be condemned by it for quite some time.

      Unofficial ranking
Even with the organized and structured clan, the Hon's have two unofficial and not important titles next to it. Call it just something that is used to show either respect or what kind of influence one has. It's also a way to represent some honor and respect to a Hon by calling him or her by the unofficial titles. Much like the official, it can be seen that the influence of their mascot is great among the clan.

      -Pup ;
Mostly used for the children of the Clan or those who haven't yet showed their worth. It can be both used as a sign of affection, seeing those who are sometimes called pups, are little children. However, it can be used also as a taunt, meaning that the target is nothing but a little child.

      -Wolf ;
This unofficial title is granted when a Hon has proven his or her worth to the clan. This can be by either successfully passing the rite of age or by gaining the respect of another Hon. It's quite common for within the Hon clan to call some that are still young, Young Wolf. This is also seen as a sign of both affection and respect.

      - Wolf-friend ;
Though rare to be used or even given, this nick or title is for those who have proven their friendship towards the Hon clan as gained their respect. Somebody who bears this title is however not regarded or respected instantly by all the Hon's. It is more of a personal use of a Hon. Often non-Hon's who are allowed to have a direwolf are regarded as Wolf-Friend's.

      Old warrior greeting/handshake:

Though only used mostly by good friends and comrades of arms, a Hon that doesn't greet with a handshake but by grabbing the person wrist. Doing so, they acknowledge the other person's strength and ability, as well respecting them enough to make such a gesture. It is an old warrior tradition of the Hon clan that isn't much used in these times.

      Gaining a Dire Wolf

A dire wolf raised in the Hon clan are high valued by the members of the clan. They aren't many in numbers but are the living symbol of the clan. Although fierce combatants, a dire wolf companion is shown to be a highly sociable animal, and though not capable of speech, they can clearly respond to speech with growls, whines, barks and several other actions that demonstrate intelligent comprehension. This led to the saying that they are smart enough to listen but wiser to not speak. They are the embodiment of loyalty and crafty fighters. There are more than enough tales the describe their loyalty to their masters, some even telling how one would avenge their masters years after they passed away. Thus, they can either be a great ally or a dangerous foe.

Once a person has proven him or herself worthy, they are being allowed to gain a Dire wolf. This is a relative easy thing to do. All one needs to do is to visit the 'Den'. The place where the pups of the Dire Wolves are being raised and sheltered. The person that is allowed to have one doesn't just pick one. Instead they are being brought in a hall of the Den, where the caretakers will release the pups. There, the person is meant to kneel and wait for one of the pups to sit in front of him and stay there with the person. If the pup stays long enough with the person, then it will be acknowledged that the dire wolf pup has chosen the person to be it's master.
      This process is called imprinting.

    • “We bear the grins of the smiling dead.”
      An old Hon saying.

To use the hidden techniques of the Hon clan, one must learn the secrets that is being called 'The Knowledge of the Wolf'. Assuming the history, it has been said that Hisho has been the one who had invented the techniques that managed to increase the already strong Hon nin to become even stronger. But due the capability and power that these techniques can offer, not many are taught the secrets. There are a few who managed to learn the secrets without somebody teaching or passing them over.

It's however a wrong assumption to think that everybody that has been trained or is training in this secret way of the Hon clan that they will gain access to learn the Hidden techniques. Other than that the user needs to know the secrets of the techniques, there are also other requirments that enables or disables one to master the technique. But even so, the way of this old training offers more than just these deadly techniques. It offers mostly a person how to manage to understand themselves better and thus can't only be considered useful for just combat uses.

      Name of Technique:
      Hidden Hon Jutsu: Lightning Speed
      Type of Jutsu:
      Supplementary Ninjutsu
      Rank:
      B
      Range:
      Short to Mid ranged
      Nature Type:
      None.
      Handseals:
Boar --> Rat --> Dragon ---> Dog --> Horse --> Hare, but can be activated without handseals if the user has truly mastered the jutsu.
      Description:
Focusing chakra in their limbs, the user can obtain higher speed than they would normally be able to. The more charka one puts in the jutsu, the faster they are able to go. The highest speed so far is that the user can be double their speed, but still be can be tracked with special dojutsu or sensory ninjutsu.
      Weakness:
User must have trained accordingly to the Knowledge of the Wolf. That means that the user must have either great talent or has spent some very long time to even master the basics.
While the speed gives the user a cutting edge over their foes they must be careful with this Hidden Jutsu. Though it can be a deadly jutsu seeing the advantage of the speed if the user goes to fast then they will experience a tunnel vision effect. The other negative side of overusing the jutsu is that when you try to force too much chakra, more than you can handle, then the results aren't nice. They can range from ending crippled to that you will never able to move your limbs again.

      Name of Technique:
      Lightning Release : Wolf's Fang Technique/ Hon's Thunder Jutsu
      Type of Jutsu:
      Ninjutsu
      Rank:
      S
      Range:
      Short
      Nature Type:
      Lightning
      Handseals:
      Ram --> Horse --- > Rat --> Boar --> Tiger --> Boar --> Monkey --> Hare --> Ram --> Dragon
      Description:
The offensive, lethal lightning jutsu that is one of the secret techniques of the Hon clan. Though some might say the can copy the technique, it is quite impossible without knowing the true secret of the technique. Even those with the Sharingan can't copy the technique without knowing the secret. It has been developed by the original founder of the clan.

The user gathers lightning chakra around him, much like Chidori Current, but instead of focusing it around them, the lightning starts to expand and will form a image of a wolf around the user. The time that the lighting isn't a wolf means that the user has to stand still till the wolf is formed. Once formed, the user can use the technique in both a defensive way or a offensive way. They use the lightning based technique to rush through the ground to cause a huge amount of lightning run through the ground, but then the user still needs to stand still, as they need to control the lightning if they don't want to harm any allies. Another way to use the lethal force of the technique is to coordinate the wolf to attack a foe. While can try to evade it, the wolf can send out spikes made of electricity, thus making it hard to dodge if it comes too close.
They can also use the wolf to fend of tools and even explosions that matches explosive tags. This done by letting the wolf wrap itself around the user.
While they can run with the technique active, the user should be very careful with the technique cause if they end up to use it for longer than a minute, they will start to cough up blood and if they continue to the max of a one minute and thirty seconds, they will pass out.
      Weakness:
The time that the wolf depends on how good the user is with lightning based jutsu and their chakra control. While the impact of the technique is lethal, the sound that is produced by the technique is very loud. A constant roaring of thunder can be heard. It is thus only smart to use as last resort option or when to finish/attack a deadly opponent. Also, if one should try to pass the time limit for several times, the strains that are produced of the technique will cast permanent damage to the body of the user.

The user also must have trained his body to at least work with his jutsu, according to the Knowlegde of the Wolf.

      Name of Technique:
Hidden Hon Jutsu : Lunar shield
      Type of Jutsu:
      Defensive Ninjutsu
      Rank:
      B
      Range:
      Self
      Nature Type:
      None
      Handseals:
      Ram --> Horse --- > Rat --> Boar --> Monkey --> Dog --> Rat --> Tiger --> Dragon
      Description:
The user gathers his chakra around him as a sphere, which then starts to spin around the user at a very high speed. Every chakra based attack will be simply wrapped around the sphere and then will fuel the user's chakra pool.
      Weakness:
The user must stay on the same spot and his vision is blurred, due the sphere. It can even be worse when a large technique wraps around the sphere as it drains out the chakra.

The user also must have trained his body to at least work with his jutsu, according to the Knowledge of the Wolf.

    • ''Your death is named....''

The Hon clan isn't mainly focused on bringing forth the best shinobi. As always they have been quite focused on bringing forth capable people in all kind of fields in the military, but mostly warriors and soldiers on foot that are eager to prove their worth and valor. With a long history of conflict with various other clans and factions, it's not a surprise to see that the Hons eventually started to adopt some methods and manners of old rivals and foes in order to ensure that they would continue to survive in this grim world. The clan does take a certain pride in their arms and armor, which has been boosted as quite prestigious units such as the Sworn Sword have adopted some of the designs used and made by the clan.

      • While the smiths of the Hon clan aren't known to be the best, they were capable as they did bring some new additions to the arms and armour that the clan's warrior and shinobi used for their wars, raids and conflicts. There is literature work that depicts some Hon warrior and shinobi wearing also lighter gear and different kind of armour, such as scale and chainmail hauberks, being slightly lighter on foot than wearing a heavy set of lamellar armour such as the general samurai wore. A clear influx of new designs and types of armour being used came to be during the conflict with the Hyuzu clan, likely Hon smiths trying to rival that of the Hyuzu in their own way. The material that has been used varies with each period as the early Hons (before the dawn of the 'modern' Hon clan) likely wore leather and less expensive resources while the 'modern' day Hons have been more capable of turning to steel due to their economic situation and growth.

        • The Hon clan has used a variety of armour over the ages. While they didn't stray too much away from the samurai fashioned gear, they did equip their warriors and shinobi with some of their own designs. How much this really typical Hon is hard to say as they have adopted manners from other clans, likely thus also extending to the types of armour that they wore. It's safe however to say with the literature work about the warriors, raiders and shinobi of the clan that they didn't either seem to stray away from heavy or light armor.

If anything can be said is that the Hon clan did seem to favor varied kind of chainmail armor for its good protection and likely pre-modern Hons would've regarded it as a high status symbol as good quality was hard and expensive to produce. More often than not, several kind of additions and extensions - using chainmail as secondary layer, after padding and then putting even another layer of armor to protect an area etc - to chainmail armor have been used by the Hons. Typical third layer wear would range from lamellar to scale vests, next to the additions of pauldrons such as these. To prevent chafing at the neck, scarfs and lower face masks were used. Pre-modern Hons even used coloured variations, often depicting the favoured colour of their family or loyalty, which did later, after the dawn of the modern-day Hon, the colours of dark grey or black.

Of course, it's important to know that armour does vary with each kind of different unit. With the Hons not laying a special focus on any kind of military and keen on adopting that clearly works, it can be easily spotted how they use for example Sarutobi wear for light infantry and skirmishers where their more heavy infantry seems to be sporting quite the protective gear - often a combination of both chainmail and plate- such as :

          A female Hon warrior.
Second example of a female Hon warrior.
          A heavy infantry clan-soldier.
A guard of the Hon clan.
          A female archer.

The shinobi of the clan from the Warring Clans period have been using likely what they preferred and saw themselves more as - thus light infantry, skirmisher and etc, though it isn't rare to see Hon shinobi opting for heavier and more protective gear.

Some shinobi of the Hon clan, however, have searched for another kind of armour. To be somewhat protective and yet light enough to not wear them down. While most shinobi during war periods seek for better gear, the Hon clan has developed several kinds of light-weighted jackets that still provide some good protection for the wearer. Jackets like these are often designed to protect the vital areas and the steel is often lacquered and painted to be less visible, next to be woven into the fabric and/or leather to not create too much sound during movement.

        • A big difference from the general used kabuto and the Hon helmets is seen in the fact that there are no big crests, horns and such present on the helmets. Their headwear seems to be less focused on inspiring dread and fear in the enemy and focused more on being practical and serving their purpose. A popular design that the Hon clan used and still uses to this date has been this one. More closed helmets were used during and after the conflict with the Hyuzu clan, most likely in attempt to protect themselves from various smoke and other menacing tactics from the Hyuzu dragons. Yet the closed helmets also seem to sport no crests or horns.

        • Shields became increasingly popular with the Hon military after their conflict with the Sarutobi. Before they weren't much used as there was more focus put on using weaponry that used both hands and allow the Hons to wield more effective shock infantry. After suffering losses at the hand of the longbow archers of the Sarutobi, the clan started to search for a way how to possibly counter it. The first shields that were being used weren't all that durable to the ones that are used these days. They were made from a single layer of planks butted together, with no iron bands, and the fronts were painted with colors and symbols. Over time one design became more popular than the rounded shields.

As the clan grew more prosperous and shields became more popular, more designs and different material would be used. Tactics with shield bearing warriors such as the shield-wall came into play which was quite useful in large scale battles in close quarters.

Typical the shields were 80-90cm (32-36 inches) in. Because of this the Hon shield is a very effective defense. It is worth noting that a shield does not absorb the shock of the blow. Rather, it redistributes the shock over a larger area, making it possible for the human body to absorb the force of the blow with reduced risk of injury. Additionally, the shield can be used to push an attack off-line, so that the attack is no longer a direct threat. There are a few fighting styles developed with shields within the Hon clan, focusing often on both an offensive as defensive approach.

      • In the early days when the Hon arrived from the northern lands and invaded the region that they consider their ancestral land, their warriors as shinobi seemed to be more fond of two wielded weapons. While bows and swords weren't shunned from use, the majority were using axes and spears. Most likely because they were cheaper to produce and slightly easier in training for use.

Over time as shields became more popular with the military part of the clan, one-handed weaponry also started to rise in use and popularity. Shorter spears were used in majority, but often many tried to have a sidearm such as a hand-axe or short sword on person. Later as the Hons became unified into one clan, they kept following the use of their previous weapons but saw an increase in use of longer blades as use of bows.

      • The Hon clan is quite focused on military endeavours. From the time of the Warring Clan period, there have been many changes to the military system and troops of the Hon clan. Starting as raiders and pillagers, the majority of their soldiers and shinobi were more fierce than well armoured and armed. This started to progress to a more professional military system over time as the clan became more experienced in waging war and doing battle with and against other clans and factions. With their military becoming more professional, the Hon factions started to invest more effort into making their armour and arms better. The militant minded people started soon to gain success with their raids and even against other. Eventually, with the unification of the clan, the Hons started to focus on creating disciplined soldiers and shinobi. Most of the Akinian military enjoys influence from the Hon clan, both through their tactics, armour and weaponry designs as well leading officers.

        • A specialised unit that focuses on the use of weaponry while clad in heavier armour. The Armoured Wolves are a kendo orientated unit that has taken a more samurai kind of influence in their gear and weaponry. It is the only Hon clan unit that seems to specialise in weapons that require being wielded with two hands. Wielding swords and axes they are an excellent shock-troop that is capable of smashing through ranks of less disciplined foes in order to break their morale or give an opening for other troops.
Often the members of this unit decorate their armour with a symbol of the wolf, as some believe that bring them a sort of luck. In the past, this used to be exclusive to the most wealthy Hons who could afford strong and reliable armour. These days it's more organised by the clan and supported by the state to field a good number of them.

        • A unit of Hons that fight together with dire wolves. Most members of this specialised unit are paired with one dire wolf, though it's not that strange to see a person with two or even three. There are stories of members who had even five, but most find that hard to believe to be true. The origin of the unit and the dire wolves themselves lie in the relation that the Hons have with the Inuzuka clan. Seeing how many of that clan uses hounds for combat and hunting, the Hons decided to try to use dire wolves for the same purpose due to their admiration and respect for the canines.

It took many generations and understanding before the Hon's were able to breed the beasts that are respected and admired today in the clan. Though the population of tame dire wolves isn't large, which means that not every Hon or family have a dire wolf in their midst. Most of these wolves can't speak, but are prized highly in the Hon clan for their intellect, cunning and strength. Some even say that they are smart enough to listen but even wiser to not speak. There are many a legend and myth regarding these fierce animals, often telling about their loyalty towards their masters to the bitter end. A known saying is that dire wolves are smart enough to understand what you say but wise enough to let actions instead of words speak.
In battle, this unit is mostly used to harass the enemy light infantry or move in as support for the cavalry. Many members of the unit cover their dire wolves with kaddis. A special warpaint to create a scent that makes horses nervous and cause the creatures often seem more fierce and surreal, invoking thus a psychological fright into their enemies.

        • The troops that form Foot companions are trained and drilled to become experts with the long pike called sarissa to form a phalanx formation. The phalanx is a rectangular mass military formation, designed to stop and combat both infantry as cavalry foes.
The sarissa, made of tough and resilient cornel wood, was very heavy for a spear, weighing approximately 5.5 kg (12 lb) to 6.5 kg (14 lb). It had a sharp iron head shaped like a leaf and a bronze butt-spike that would allow it to be anchored to the ground to stop charges by enemy soldiers. The bronze material of the butt-spike prevented it from rusting. The spike also served to balance out the spear, making it easier for soldiers to wield, and could be used as a backup point should the main one break
The sheer bulk and size of the sarissa required the soldiers to wield it with both hands, allowing them to carry only a 60 cm (24 in) shield suspended from the neck to cover the left shoulder. Its great length is an asset against other soldiers bearing shorter weapons, as they have to get past the sarissas to engage the foot companions. However, outside the tight formation of the phalanx, the sarissa is of limited utility as a weapon and a hindrance on the march. As such, it is usually composed of two lengths and was joined by a central bronze tube only before a battle.
The Foot companions are usually armoured in heavy metal equipment as they aren't supposed and as a unit designed for rapid movement on the field. Most of them carry short swords or other one-handed armed in case they are forced to face an enemy up close or unable to use their sarissa - due to being too much damaged.

The phalanx formation done by the Foot Companions would provide the scenario that an enemy had to deal five full rows of sarissa pikes, ready to be stabbed - meaning that if an enemy got past the first row, there were still four more to deal with. The back rows bear their sarissa upwards in readiness, which serves the additional purpose of deflecting incoming arrows.

While the Foot companions have been a great asset for the military of the Hon clan both in the past and present they have one glaring weakness. Their flexibility. Where they are a deadly formation when faced on, they will break and lose a battle pretty fast when being outflanked. For this purpose the Foot companions need the support of other troops to safeguard their flanks while advancing or in battle.

        • The elite of the Hon shinobi and soldiers. These are the most loyal and considered some of the smartest, most cunning and best fighters the Hon clan has. They can come from both the Noble as the common branch of the clan. This unit has as the most important task to important prominent members of the clan as well locations that are considered highly important for the clan.

    • “Wolves aren't supposed to howl alone,
But are supposed to howl together.”

An old Hon saying about unity.

While the Hon clan was officially grouped together under the leadership of Hisho Hon, the clan does have a long history and the scattered groups of Hon families had overall the same folklore and myths that made it possible for them to unite as one big clan instead of smaller groups. Though some myths and legends might have some meaning or a historical truth behind it, most are told to give away on how to explain certain things. Such as how night and day came to be and other yet unexplained phenomenon.

The Hon culture is one where ancestors and revered heroes of the past are held in high regards. Though they don't worship or pray in general to these figures. They hold them in high respect and often show them an homage, that can vary with each family and even on individual base. The folklore and myths are simply used as to explain how it is important to be patient or follow some virtues or in other cases explaining how the world they live in came to be. In terms of culture, the Hon are often a proud and distant people. They often 'demand' somebody to show that they are worthy of respect, causing those who don't either know them well enough or having a bad opinion that they are an arrogant folk. But once gained their respect, most Hon's are quite loyal and great allies.

      • Similarities with the other Chonobi cultures.

The Hon, Sarutobi and Cho clans have a long history with each another. Alliances were forged ages ago with marriages, treaties and shedding blood together, Over time they started to adapt culture traits, manners and norms from each other. Here follows a list of such examples :

        * Ancestor worship :

Though each clan has their own ancestor and it even can be said that each family has their revered ancestor, there are a few ancestors that are in general revered. Of course, each clan and culture have a different approach to their ancestors and various rituals. And these rituals and paying homage can also vary between families and individuals.

        * Chonobi :

The language that that is shared between the Sarutobi, Cho and Hon clan. It is a language that is taught to their children at a young age and isn't written down for a particular reason. In the days of old, it wasn't that every family could afford to pay for education to see their children be able to read and write. Furthermore, it is something that the Chonobi cultures regard as their own and don't wish it to become used by those who aren't part of the cultural group.

        Sayings :

Some sayings that the Chonobi culture shares with one another, the origin of the phrase written behind the saying.

"Death smiles at everyone, we will smile back." - Hon saying
"Here's to cheating, stealing, fighting and drinking.
If you cheat, may it be death! if you steal, may it be a woman's heart! If you fight, may you fight for your kin and if you drink, may you drink with me!" - Sarutobi/ Adani saying.
"You can't argue with Blackroot logic, cause it is usually followed up with an Arrow you won't see coming." - Sarutobi saying.
"There is a battle between two wolves in each of us? We feed both and now they fight my enemies." - Hon saying.
"Better die fighting than living your life on your knees." - Cho saying.
"The problems that lay before you aren't as half as strong as the ancestors that smile upon you." - Cho saying.

        Clothing and armour.

The clothing of the Chonobi culture is aimed to provide some comfort and simple detail. While there are, of course, subtle differences between the clothing of the three clans there is a general fashion in the culture group. In general, there seems to be a preference for the males to wear pants, even during ceremonial events. It isn't also rare for men who can afford it to wear swords, as it isn't only a weapon of choice but also a statement of how much wealth they have and earn. Brooches and stitched symbols in clothing seem to be the most recurring decorations for men. With the woman, it is more varied as there seem to be no real preference to either skirts or garb with pants. It can be said that some more of the ceremonial clothing are of influence by the Cho clan.

Do note that most of these images are serving the purpose to give a clear idea of the fashion of the Chonobi culture. Nobody of the culture group is restricted to wear these kinds of clothing, but it is what the majority of the Chonobi wear in their own land.

While it can be stated that the Cho clan had the most influence when it came down to fashion it isn't a surprise for many that the manner of armour and equipment is mostly influenced by the Hon clan. The Chonobi culture favours being clad in chainmail or at least some leather protection when marching off to war or any sort of military campaign. While the military is, for the most part, made up of male participants, it isn't rare or strange to see women also enlisting into the military or entering their clan's military service. While each clan has its own preference of warfare and armour, the Cho clan usually equip their military with the same gear that the Hon uses - for various reasons. Some of the Sarutobi who prefer close ranged quarter combat also opt for the more protective Hon design of armour.

        armour (open)

        • The Sarutobi aren't the biggest fan of heavy armour. As most of them are deployed and trained being skirmishers, their favourite tactics are hit and run. Which compliments the warriors of the other two clans very well. For this reason, many Sarutobi warriors are clad with lighter armour, which allows them to remain agile and fast participants on the field of battle - making great use of their bows and weaponry to soften the ranks of the enemy before a charge will follow. The most experienced and best of the Sarutobi skirmishers become often part of the Woodland Ravens, which are the elite of the Sarutobi clan when it comes to guerrilla warfare, archery and close quarter fighting.

Another example of a Sarutobi archer.
          A woodland raven member.

However, it isn't the case that the Sarutobi don't field warriors that are specialised and geared for close quarter combat. In fact, the Blackroot Vale Sarutobi are renowned among the Chonobi clan to be one of the most fierce fighters. Various nobles from the Cho clan even hire Sarutobi warriors as bodyguard and part of their retinue. A small and specialised unit from the Sarutobi that specialises in fighting as the samurai of old are the War Maidens - educated in various fields, both culture as military.

          Another example of Sarutobi footmen.
An example of a Sarutobi guard.
          A War Maiden.

        *Family/Lineage Names

It is hard to separate a pair that shares the same surname as a personal name. In order to prevent too much confusion, there is something known as an family/lineage name. It is thus constructed as :

        'Surname --- Personal Name --- Family/Lineage name'.

An example would be thus :
        'Cho --- Aiko -- Tao'.

Family/Lineage names aren't in general really known among outsiders as they are considered quite personal. It is a way for the members of the Chonobi cultures to keep others separated upon introduction towards one another, but to no-Chonobi, this is often a rarity to hear. In some cases, the family/lineage name bears the name of the founder where in other cases it holds a certain meaning.

        * Music and feasting :

It is a rare occurrence to enter a pub or tavern without live music. The chance to enter such an establishment from the three clans of the Chonobi culture is almost considered a myth to not enter and be greeted with live music performed by a (small) band and people singing. While the Hon and Sarutobi are known for their martial expertise and the Cho for their trade and wits, the clans are fond of songs and making merry. Already sharing a language together, it isn't a surprise that they share and sing a lot of songs. Songs that go about an ancestor, past days of glory, an anecdote and so forth.

      • Unlike some other cultures of clans, the Hon don't believe that heroes become sort of demi-gods. They are more regarded as honourable ancestors or people who could give an example on how to behave etc. Most of the time a Hon family has one or two 'champion(s)' that they respect and pay respect to. It is also possible to become a revered hero as those of the stories. This is done by doing a tremendous difficult task for the benefit of the clan or their relatives, which however could make the person immortal as his or her story will be told by his relatives and kin until the end of time - until then being allowed to dine and feast with their ancestors in the afterlife. Each lineage has their own revered ancestor, but the following are the most respected and known lineages and ancestors known in the Hon clan.

        - Hisho
        (Means "victory")

One of the 'newest' champions of the Hon clan. He is regarded highly for the fact for uniting the Hon clan as leading them against several other clans and managing to gain quite some victories for the Hon clan. And not only on military manner, but also on diplomacy. It was his wish to create a place where clans could form a place together instead of being wary for each other.

        - Yamato :
        (Means "large/great" or "harmony")

One of the heroes that is respected for his big deeds that were focused on defending those who couldn't defend themselves. Those who follow and pay respect to Yamato often try to become capable shinobi as Yamato was. The man is very popular in the Wolf Guard and Armored Wolves as most try to follow his example of defending others who they respect or value highly. In some myths he is being seen as the one who laid the foundation to the Wolf Guard.

        - Jun
        (Means 'obedient')

Jun is known for her personal drama. Unlike some other 'champions' she isn't a fighter or a very wise figure. Her story is about how important loyalty and honor can be and when it is the right time to forsake them. Some Hon's debate if she is truly worth of naming as revered ancestor, but nobody dares to debate her courage and loyalty to the clan for her deeds.

        - Noriko
(Means "law child" or "exemplar child.")

Noriko is a typical figure that is held in high esteem for the fact she has been one to strive for justice during a time where that was quite rare. Her deeds are like her name suggest focused on doing the right thing according the law. But in some tales and versions, it is known that she also bends the rules in order to get done what she considers justice.

        - Atsushi
        (Means "industrious".)

Known as the Smith, Atsushi is being suspected of the one who made the White Blade, that is considered an heirloom in the Hon clan lineage that he had founded. He is particularly renowned for smithing various tools, weapons and armour for other prominent Hon figures. The tales about his deeds aren't all about forging equipment and gear of others. Many times Atsuhi had to use his with and skills - both as a smith as a capable fighter - to escape dangerous situations. He is a particularly revered figure for Hons that have taken a military career, both soldiers and shinobi alike.

        - Manabu
        (Means "learn")

The Scholar as some like to nick him. Manabu's stories are full with how intellect wins it over strength and courage. Though he is respected for some courageous deeds, he is more known for his clever wit and silver tongue. Most of the Noble Middle Branch of the Hon clan tend to have high respect for Manabu as he is an ideal example for diplomats and such folk.

        - Isamu
        (Means "bravery, courageous")

Though not as stout, wise or any way like many of the other 'champions' Isamu makes up for what he lacks with bravery. Some also find him quite cunning as he tries to solve his problems often with a bit of luck, courage and wit. While most his stories apply to children, there are darker and grimmer tales that do apply to adults where Isamu shows that courage can be a great virtue.

      • Though the Hon clan doesn't worship or prays to a certain god or godlike creatures/persons they do have great respect of those who are being revered as great deities. Unlike with the champions, these are universal and are often followed and respected by all Hon. They often play a role in stories, but if they do it is mostly on the background.

        - The Great Wolf ;
The Hon clan doesn't believe in any godlike deities, but the Great Wolf spirit could be easily compared to a head of gods like deity. He doesn't appear in all the stories but seems to have his influence in most. Due to the fact that the myths and tales of the Hon clan don't have a real black and white view, the Great Wolf can't be seen as truly benevolent or dreadful. Like many other figures in the Hon clan folklore, he is mostly neutral. Some believe that it is the Great Wolf that gave mankind their will and thus figured that they wouldn't need anything else. Others regard this gift also the curse of humanity, seeing that without any balance that it will forever pit men against one another.

        - Akumu (means Bad Dream/Nightmare) :
Lord of the afterlife, dreams and nightmares and master of ravens and vultures.

Akumu is the first person to ever die if one has to believe the tales of the clan. His sacrifice, was in fact, a betrayal of the raven, who tricked him into summoning death into the world of the living. After being allowed to make a request, Akumu requested the Great Wolf to be allowed to become the lord of the afterlife and master of ravens. He is the one who decides what fate will befall when they are brought before his throne.

        - Hoshi (means Star) :
Lady of the Night, stars and the moon.

Hoshi is the lady who tried to create more light in the world as there was no moon in the begin of time. And after the arrival of night, Hoshi wanted to give even in the darkness a flicker of light. This makes her also somebody who some Hon's consider to be the source in times of darkness and peril, rekindling the fires and hope in a person.

The difference between Wolves and hounds,

Discouraged after an unsuccessful day of hunting, a hungry Wolf came upon a well-fed hound, the Wolf asked what the Dog had to do to earn his food.

"Very little," replied the Dog, "Just protect my master's house and family and be obedient to his demands."
The Wolf pondered this quite carefully - for he had to risk his own life almost daily to earn his food, and then with little assurance of success. The Wolf, who was tempted to adopt the Dog's mode of living, then happened to notice that the hair was rubbed bare from about the Dog's neck.
The Wolf asked what caused this affliction, the Dog replied that it was of no significance, "It's just the place where my collar and chain rub."
The Wolf abruptly stopped and exclaimed, "Your Chain! You mean you are not free to choose somebody of your own liking to follow?"
"No," responded the Dog, "but what does that matter?"

"A great deal," replied the Wolf as he trotted away into the forest back to his pack, "A great deal."

How Rain came to be and why Wolves howl,
        Credits to Expllo.

Wolves are supposed to be tough, but there was one wolf that was more meek than the rest. He would cry and get shunned for it. One day it was too much and he confronted the wolves that shunned him. In the process of doing so he ended up crying. His emotions were so strong that it caused the heavens to cry. Since then they would cry in his honor.

        Hon Poem :
        Are you not Wolf?

        I am Wolf.
        I am many things

        Teacher, Friend, Lover, Healer
        Mother, Father

        Son and Daughter.
        And yet you fear me.

        Despise me.
        Kill me.

        Why?

        Are you not those things?
Are you not a Wolf as well?

        The reward of the Wolf,
A story about the Wolf and the Crane.

A Wolf had been gorging on an animal he had killed, when suddenly a small bone in the meat stuck in his throat and he could not swallow it. He soon felt terrible pain in his throat, and ran up and down groaning and groaning and seeking for something to relieve the pain.

He tried to induce every one he met to remove the bone. "I would give anything," said he, "if you would take it out." At last the Crane agreed to try, and told the Wolf to lie on his side and open his jaws as wide as he could.
Then the Crane put its long neck down the Wolf's throat, and with its beak loosened the bone, till at last it got it out.
"Will you kindly give me the reward you promised?" said the Crane.

The Wolf grinned and showed his teeth and said: "Be content. You have put your head inside a Wolf's mouth and taken it out again in safety; that ought to be reward enough for you."

        The Lion, Fox and Wolf,
Be wary of making traps against an innocent because you will be the first to be caught.

A lion, growing old, lay sick in his cave. All the beasts came to visit their king, except the wolf.
The fox therefore, thinking that he had a capital opportunity, accused the fox to the lion of not paying any respect to him who had the rule over them all and of not coming to visit him.
At that very moment the wolf came in and heard these last words of the fox.
The lion roaring out in a rage against him, the wolf sought an opportunity to defend himself and said,
"And who of all those who have come to you have benefited you so much as I, who have traveled from place to place in every direction, and have sought and learnt from the physicians the means of healing you?'
The lion commanded him immediately to tell him the cure, when he replied,
"You must flay a fox alive and wrap his skin yet warm around you."
The fox was at once taken and flayed; wherein the wolf, turning to him, said with a wolfish grin,
"You should have moved your master not to ill, but to good, will."

How night and day came to be :
Explaining how the shift between night and day came to be.

As many myths, animals play a role in explaining on how certain things came to be. In explaining how day and night came to be is explained that the animals gathered together and choose the porcupine as the one to lead the discussion. It was due that the porcupine had the most balanced personality and was quite respected for it.

The first thing that the animals were needed to discuss was about day and night. A lot of animals voted and argued that there should be constant daylight. Others however argued that it would better if the night's darkness would rule over the land. At this meeting a big discussion erupted between the two sides. The chipmunk was the one who favored it that there should be constant day. He pleaded that with more daylight that the animals would be able to spend more time on getting their food, to relax and play. During night most animals wouldn't be able to do this and he founded it thus a waste if there would be more darkness than daylight.

Bear however refuted the arguments of chipmunk as he said that it was easier to catch fish n the dark. Many animals lost too much time due not able to fish that well as the fishes would flee into the depth, away from the daylight.

No matter how hard porcupine tried to maintain order, it didn't seem to work. The animals were so strongly divided that they kept yelling at each other during the whole meeting. Thus no solution came that day. The next day porcupine decided to talk separate with chipmunk and bear in hope to reach a solution which would benefit all. Porcupine feared that if no solution would come that there would be a big fight between the animals, something he want to avoid.

Chipmunk was of the opinion that bear barely made time to fish. That he was just lazy and wanted to have an easier time to fish than to work for his food. Bear though that chipmunk was trying to mislead them all, cause he had already gathered enough food for a year and just wanted more time to goof around. This caused porcupine to become upset as he released that it was this going to be very hard to reach a solution, due the conflicting arguments of bear and chipmunk.

Thus he decided to try to host a party. Everybody after all liked a nice party, hopefully driving away some of the tension. It was to remember the animals how hard they needed each other and once he noticed that it would be the good moment to then make a decision all together. That evening porcupine thus announced that there wouldn't be a meeting, but a party. There would be dancing and singing. And for quite some time it seemed that everything was working as porcupine had hoped for. Even bear and chipmunk started to sing and dance together, giving hope that there wouldn't be a fight after all.

But porcupine had forgotten on how arrogant chipmunk could be! Surprising everybody, he suddenly started to sing with a very loud voice ; "We want daylight! We want daylight all the time long!" This took everybody by surprise and made bear furious! He started to sing with his deep and angry voice ; "We want night! We want night forever!"

Not many moments later the party burst out in two sides siding with one of the two. Then they started to demand porcupine to make a decision, but before he could calm them down, a fight happened. Bear lashed out towards chipmunk, who tried to flee away for the angry bear. With bear on his heels, chipmunk tried to flee into a tree. Just in time bear managed to lash out, creating the dark scar that still this day is visible on chipmunks back.

Due this porcupine decided that there would be a shift between night and day as we know it now.

        The best hunter :
Explaining the virtue about patience and respect to nature.

In one of the Hon groups there was a hunter, better than everybody else. His skill with the bow was unrivaled, but on the hunt he always suffered bad luck. He thus concluded that he was cursed. While he knew nature, knowing where to find which kind of prey and know how to make the best traps, he barely caught anything. Either he came back to empty traps or something happened that caused him to not succeed in the hunt.

The Hon became so frustrated that he decided to head to a nearby swamp. He wouldn't return to his clan until he would had some success in his hunt. If even if that meant death. For days he wandered around in the swamp, using every bit of experience and knowledge he had to gain some success. Knowing that there was a big lake in the swamp, that would be a small pool due the warm summer. Heading to the place he saw a direwolf. Scared and not wanting to hurt the creature that his clan respected so highly, the hunter kept his distance. The direwolf spoke to the hunter, saying that he wouldn't need to be scared, cause he was feeling too weak to attack back.

"I suffer more bad luck than you, my friend." The direwolf told the hunter. The hunter request what had caused the proud creature to be weak as the direwolf answered that he hadn't been able to drink from some clean water. Knowing that up head there was a lake, where the creature could perhaps drink from cleaner water, the direwolf said that he felt too weak to get there himself. Thus the direwolf proposed that he would help the hunter in exchange if he would carry him to the lake.

Knowing very well that it was risky as the direwolf was renowned for being crafty and cunning creatures, the hunter wavered. Knowing that the hunter didn't trust him, the direwolf promised that the hunter was allowed to tie his legs as his mouth. This seemed to convince the hunter who then carried the direwolf to the lake. Even while the big creature was quite heavy, the hunter was eager to receive some help to break his curse.

He carried the direwolf to the lake and after the creature quenched his thirst at, the direwolf kept his promise. He told the hunter that he had to head south into the forest. There he would see a little female deer, but wasn't allowed to kill her. He would then see a male deer, but again wasn't allowed to shoot that one either. The deer had to mate and bring forth a calf. If he would thus not kill the male and female deer, then he would later be spotting an old deer. That one would surrender himself to the hunter, allowing the hunter to kill him.

Eager to do as the wolf told him to do, the hunter followed his advice. He saw the little female deer, but didn't shoot her. Same happened with the male deer and he patiently waited for some moments. As the wolf had promised an old deer appeared and the hunter eagerly shot the old deer. His aim was perfect as the old deer was shot dead with one arrow.

Now every time as the man goes hunting, he remembers the wise words of the direwolf, that had taught him to be patient. Ever since that day he never came empty handed from any hunt.

        The Raven of Death:
Explaining the arrival of death into the world and the existence of the afterlife. It also explains the phrase that some Hon use when they take the life of another person.

In the beginning of the world, there was no such thing as death. It seemed that everybody continued to live. But as the population started to grow, there was a growing shortage of room and food. This led to conflicts and for years people started to fight each other. The problem was that nobody could die. It was a constant strife between people and it were thus dark times. Eventually some people gathered in a council as there had to be something to be done about this. With the leaders of the time managing to gather together, the council started.

For long did they talk about solutions. Some say that those who would fall in battle would need to be buried deep in the ground. In these times were no such thing as ninjutsu, but while some found this a preferable solution others dreaded it. Who would want to be buried for an entire century into the ground? And what would they do once they had filled all the earth with people? Realizing that such solutions would only offer a temporary solution, the leaders continued to talk.

Eventually one Hon with the name of Akumu suggested to seek the advice of some that would be wiser than them all together. Though viewed with distrust as some leaders were skeptical if Akumu wasn't just trying to make his own tribe stronger and mightier, they eventually agreed. Akumu started his search while the other leaders would try to maintain order. For long Akumu sought the council and advice of several wise creatures and people. But none offered a plausible solution that would make life on earth balanced. Or stopping the dark times as each solution would only work on short terms.

Saddened and tired, Akumu managed to find some peace on a mountain where he took some refuge as the chaos and conflict kept on going. Wondering how long it would be before everybody would live a life that would go on forever, but only ever living as some savage creatures for their own pleasures, Akumu felt something on his shoulder. It was raven who had heard of Akumu's search for a solution. They spoke and raven made a suggestion. He proposed that Akumu would bring an offer to the Great Wolf. Perhaps a sacrifice would please the spirit that the Hon's admired and feared. Though wary of the motives of the raven, Akumu decided that he had no other real choice. After some advice of the raven, the man started to prepare an ancient ritual that had been lost to all but raven.

Sacrificing his heart to the Great Wolf a cold breeze would sweep over the world. As he had sacrificed himself, Akumu would never figure out the betrayal of raven who had made the man perform a ritual that would summon death into the world. In time people started to learn that they could die and wouldn't be able to come back. The news spread and for a long time no conflict was held as people feared the mysterious death too much.

Raven knew that eventually somebody would learn of his trickery and thus decided to gather his brothers and sisters. He told them of what had happened and all together they decided to fool the humans with acting as if they were the bringers of death. Cause eventually people started to wage conflicts and decided that it didn't matter anyways as long as they could kill somebody else before they were killed. At every conflict ravens would thus appear and together with their allies, the vultures, it became a widespread belief that these two kind of birds were the messengers of death itself.

While Akumu had died, the Great Wolf was much impressed by the selfish sacrifice of the man. Summoning him from the afterlife, the great spirit spoke with the Hon. Explaining Akumu of the betrayal of the raven, the former became furious. But alas, he was dead and thus not allowed to meddle into the affairs with the world of the living. The Great Wolf however would allow Akumu to request one thing as he had been selfish and done actually a great deed. Thinking about it, Akumu decided to request what would be a fitting punishment for the ravens and the vultures as well shaping the start of the afterlife.

Being appointed as the lord of the afterlife, Akumu created a plain where the dead would be brought by the spirits of ravens and vultures. As such was their punishments. The dead would be brought before the throne of Akumu himself, where he would judge the person on their deeds in life. Those who were considered good would be allowed to go to his gigantic realm where people would enjoy the calm and peaceful atmosphere. Those were considered neutral, thus not well enough to be allowed in Akumu's realm, would either be send as guardians - direwolves at the gates of the afterlife - or becoming ravens or vultures to serve Akumu forever. Those were considered wicked and evil would be send to the black pits. Nobody however know what kind of place the black pits are as no figure in the folklore of the Hon clan ever came out of them. To honor Akumu, some Hon's started to mutter their personal names when they would send somebody to the afterlife.

        Story of Jun Hon

        Childhood

Jun was born into the Hon clan as oldest child of a leader. As oldest of her father's children, she was to later succeed him and lead them. As child Jun was know for be silent which made many think she was quite shy. Curious and silent, Jun's childhood was one where she learned the hardship of being the heir. She had to learn the history of her clan, what was expected as being the future leader and her role in the clan. Most often Jun silently took in the lessons. Now and then she showed her curious side where she asked a lot of questions. But always Jun would become silent. Always watching, learning and observing. But rarely being in the spotlights.

While Jun grew up, a conflict arose. With another part of the Hon clan, her father went to battle. The conflict was a long and bloody one where Hon against Hon fought each other on the field of battle. Knowing her role as heir and what was to be expected of her, Jun was to remain at home. Waiting for her father and brothers to come back from the conflict. Hopefully bearing trophies and stories of their victory, valor and courage. But as more came back, she never saw any of her brothers or her father again. They had been defeated and soon the enemy Hon came, demanding that the oldest child would marry one of theirs. Thus assimilating the defeated Hon clan of Jun into the rival Hon clan.

Accepting her fate, Jun married to Yasuo Hon, the eldest son of the rival clan. While there was no event where the assimilated Hon's were being mistreated or viewed as different, Jun felt that it was her duty to avenge her father and siblings who had fallen in battle. Cause wolves don't howl alone and Jun wasn't willing to just let her father and brothers be forgotten.

        Bloodvow

While the Hon clan started to grow, so did Jun. She became a decent looking young woman, but yet like in her childhood she was most of the somebody who silently watched from the background. She remained true to her role as Yasuo Hon, who eventually became the leader. Though he was a decent and just leader, Jun never loved him. But even so she remained as a faithful spouse and gave him two sons and one daughter. Jun wanted to name the sons to her father and oldest brother, but Yasuo denied her that right. Instead he named them after the men who were responsible for taking the life of her beloved father and brothers. While Jun never brought the situation up again, she decided that she would start preparing her revenge.

On an evening, Jun had send a main to let the others at Yasuo's court be known that she felt ill. This allowed her to silently make a bloodvow. Swearing on the names of her slain brothers and father and upon their honor that she would kill those who were responsible, Jun made the promise to the Great Wolf. And such she was bound to that single task as promises to the Great Wolf aren't lightly made.

Ever since that day, Jun was preparing for her vengeance.

        Preparing

While Jun had made the vow, she wasn't reckless or ignorant enough to think that she could just start avenging her brothers and father with murdering left and right. She would have to bid her time. The first thing she needed were allies. With the help of some faithful and loyal servants, Jun started to gather information about her future targets. Being cautious in who she trusted with tasks, she endured the 'yoke' of her 'enemies'. While she was in the inside torn and outraged, she remained calm and true to the laws as rules of her clan, being a 'loyal' wife.

But even though some years passed, Jun somehow didn't seem to get pregnant. In some stories it is said that Jun prevented becoming pregnant by using knowledge of her servants or knowing herself to apply several medicines and herbs to prevent her from receiving any children. Another version claims that Jun went as far as removing her womb, though many don't believe that one.

        Striking

Several years passed while Jun was bidding her time. Serving her husband as she should and making it clear that she harbored no rebellious ill will, Jun had suggested a feast to celebrate that the old rivals who had conquered her father's clan and how everybody enjoyed the peace. Seeing no reason to distrust the ever loyal woman, Yasuo went to his father. It was arranged that it would also be on that day that Yasuo would succeed his father, becoming the new leader.

While the arrangements for the feast were made, Jun silently made her preparations. Again, here does the tale have several versions. In most Jun prepares most of the work herself. She offers Yasuo to arrange the food and drink, thus able to poison them. In other versions, she however asks this to several of her most trusted collaborators. In anyway, the food and drink would be poisoned and to remain true and loyal to the ways of her clan, Jun managed to convince several capable Hon warriors and nin to help her finish of Yasuo and his kin.

With the feast starting, Jun offered her husband a dance. A signal as the music that was played at, starting to play the tune that Jun had requested. Alarming those who knew of the plan that it was time. Many kept an eye on Jun and Yasuo. Just a few moments before the tune would be over, Jun pulled out a slim dagger and proceeded to stab her husband in the neck, the steel blade sinking into the man's flesh as he was too surprised to react properly. His kin were also overwhelmed, being poisoned and weakened and thus no match for Jun and her allies. A short and bloody struggle came to be, but it was clear that Jun would win. With the bloodvow completed, she was proclaimed as leader of her clan. Even while she had done something that some Hon viewed as disgraceful, to betray another Hon in such a manner.

    Appearance:

    Personality:
Min is a rather serious individual. She is rarely seen laughing or talking in a genuine friendly tone to most people. It should be noted that she often speaks with respect and affection towards the ruling Cho family and has some interest in both the Hon as in the Nimatsu clan, probably for their history and fighting styles. She is one that doesn't shy away, but neither being too bold. If asked, Min would likely say she is a waterlily, which means she calmly follows and let her be guided by the current of the river.

    History:
Born in Keishi, Min's early life was one that was rare in her clan. Unlike most Cho, her parents weren't dedicated to a more peaceful profession, but had been part of the declining Cho Guards. Though Min actually has told them that she dislikes to hurt a person, she always showed understanding that the path of the sword needs to be followed by a few, to protect the many. In her youth, her time wasn't much spent with playing around or studying. It was where she was taught on how to wield a few weapons, in order to protect herself and if the Cho clan would one day be united, to serve the Head. And if she would ever become a mother herself, pass the teachings of the Cho Guard on her children. Only due some disease her parents passed away while she was just sixteens year old. Without having been taught anything else, Min offered her service to the guard and watch of Keishi.

After some time passed, she heard rumours that her clan was starting to move. Unsure what to think of it, Min kept trying to uncover more details and information. It started to lead towards Konohagakure. Finding this out made Min still debating what she should do. She wasn't having a bad life at the guard and watch of Keishi, using the teachings that had been bestowed upon her. But the drive for something more, something closer to her, made her decide to resign at the watch and move towards Konohagakure.

After managing to settle down in the village, Min kept looking for more clues and information. Something or somebody inside Konohagakure was making movements with the clan. All of her life, Min had heard stories when the clan had been more united and thus was genuinely interested when she found that a woman, Aiko Cho-Hon, was trying to bring the clan together. Though she made herself acquainted with Aiko, Min kept a low profile as she was unsure of how the clan would be formed once it was once more united.

Around their wrists, they have clever made wristbands where the small senbons are stored. This can enable the wielder to pull out senbons in a much quicker speed to then throw them towards their enemy.

    Personality:
Friendly and polite, Teng doesn't appear much of a threat. He has often a charming smile and knows how to act to not be noticed that easily. Of course there is also his silver tongue where he is able to calm down a rather aggressive person. But this is all just a facade. Teng is in all honesty a calm and cold person, that focus on his work and that alone. He cares only for those who are important for his job as he is focused on that alone.

    History:
The history of Tengen is shrouded in mysteries and what most would call lies. He is a man that has been a mercenary spy for years, but like many Cho's that are now utterly loyal to the clan, has been raised and educated in their own manner. It is easy to speculate thus from the unknown history of the man that Tengen is his codename and that the only person aware of his past deeds and such is the leader of the Cho Clan.

To most however Tengen's history is that he has grown up as a son of a farmer and a artist. He lived a normal and peaceful life, but didn't see any appeal in the life of being a farmer. That made him decide to move to Konohagakure on his twenties, where he decided to become a shop owner of a book store. After the Cho clan had gained their own compound, Tengen moved in and also opened a book store there. Nothing really out of the ordinary.

(Over the course of the story more will be revealed as both Aiko, Kei and Akimoto will interact with him.)

Butterfly swords are usually wielded in pairs, as it is in Tengen's case.
    Appearance:

    Name of Weapon or Item:
    Concealed equipment
    Description:
Depending on if he is being personally sent on a mission or not, Tengen also uses the equipment and gear that most of the Cho guard have to their disposal. But like any of the Assassin of the Rose, he rather uses what he can hide from plain sight.

      Range:
      Short
      Nature Type:
      Wind
      Handseals:
      Nine, ending in Bird.
      Description:
Tengen's own developed technique. This technique allow him to become one with the wind. Though one could see this being a grea boon in combat or assassination missions, this technique isn't that capable for it. It allows Tengen to become intangible and able to phase through small openings, like fences or escaping out of prison cells.
      Weakness:
The weakness of the technique is that it is quite visible. It is like you see white smoke moving around, which isn't really normal in many situations. The speed of the technique is also quite slow. Even worse, if somebody tries to attack the white mist with an air, fire or lightning technique, then it will cause harm to Tengen. Combined with the speed, it is thus not safe to use this in almost any combat situation.

  6. The Cho Clan

    "Growing Strong."

    • Name :
      Cho Clan

      Location
Province of Fire, largest concentration at the southern part with the border of the Noodle country, but are spreading over the Empire of Akino currently.

      Village
Clan in Akino, their centre of administration being in the Cho Compound. The Keep of Dayi is, however, considered their centre of culture.

      Traits

      • Are most often talented with genjutsu and Water release ninjutsu. Very few also with the art, Silent Killing. Though that is not very common.
      • Often very good chakra control
      • Most either have red or bright colored kind of hair.

    • The history of the Cho clan isn't rich of infamous warriors and heroes uniting people together. The origin of the Cho clan is a rather much more humble one. A gathering of a few families that grew up to a collection of families that had close ties as their wealth grew. Rich merchants and landowners, the income of these families formed the foundation of the Cho clan. A rise without the need of blood, fire and steel. It isn't thus surprising that these families formed their own clan in order to protect their wealth and influence in the markets that they were present in. This slowly starting to gain them some more attention as one of their past leaders, Mata Cho, started to use the wealth to draw more people to the Cho clan. There is strength in numbers after all and with other warring clans that were constantly fighting for control and power, it was only a matter of time that the Cho clan would provoke the unwanted attention with their wealth. Though this wouldn't, of course, be enough. With just numbers, they wouldn't stand more of a chance against cultures and clans who had invested time and effort in training capable warriors and shinobi. For this reason, the Cho clan started to use their connections to become closer to the Hon and Sarutobi clan, while starting to train armed forces of their own. Using their wealth and diplomatic culture, the Cho clan started to secure their future. Arranged marriages were made to strengthen the alliances and bonds with the two clans as the Cho clan started to also adapt some of their manners.

For decades the Cho clan prospered in peace as they used their allies to create a solid defence. But that didn't mean that they would neglect training some of their own in martial arts. While their warriors weren't as stealthy and capable in archery as the Sarutobi or as competent as the Hon warriors, the Cho's started to focus their warriors on more defensive tactics. The aim of their military was anyways to defend and preserve the security for their people as their allies and not to further expand it.

Though the Cho clan kept prospering and growing in both numbers as wealth, there were a subtle decline several decades before the rise of the countries and end of the Warring Clans era. There were a few that claimed that they had the right of being the clan leader as the passing of Eòin Cho left a small void. The man had died without any children nor had any siblings that could succeed him. With this leader crisis, tension within the clan started to rise. While it never came to a conflict, this would leave the Cho clan leaderless and start to hurt their reputation, unity and influence. As the start of the Hidden villages came up, the Cho clan was more forgotten by others as there wasn't anybody who could represent them. Let alone that the Cho clan weren't certain if they should invest in the foundation of something they weren't sure of that would work, making them fall into a state of self-focus in their own region.

In the year 473, the Konoha kunoichi Aiko Cho started to formulate plans to gather the clan together and make the name Cho regain some of its old glory. She had some claim, after all, thanks to her mother lineage that lead to Mata Cho. Several families did migrate to Konohagakure, but with just a few, the Cho clan could never build or finance a compound and thus not be as united as they were before. It took some time, but at the year of 474, more members of the Cho clan went to migrate to Konoha. At this time, a number of at least three hundred Cho's were now citizens of Konoha. And it was enough to form a compound and finance it with their own wealth and work once they had gained the required permission. Soon after that, the clan started to rapidly grow again, thanks to finding other Cho families and thanks to marriages as well people being attracted to the culture.

Seeing she had brought them together and was widely respected, Aiko Cho-Hon was chosen to become the next official head of the clan. It was also the perfect choice when the clan took her bloodline in consideration. Now with a clan leader, a compound and united, the clan stands for a brighter future. Even an heir is named, during the time that the clan continues to grow and maybe to obtain their once past wealth and power. They have already started to maintain most of their past bonds, trying to rebuild their network of connections up again.

      Name:
      The Keep of Dayi
      Location:
The keep is located and build just at the western border of the Fire and Noodle provinces in the Empire of Akino.
      Appearance :

      Description:
It is an almost ancient site of the Cho. Legend has it that the first founders of the Cho clan built this place to provide some security for themselves and their possessions as servants. With the growing wealth and prosperity of the Cho clan, it was decided that the clan would 'celebrate' their growth to their once former power with building a keep. Built in the somewhat more northern side of the border, the terrain around the keep would most likely make an assault on it difficult. There is only one mountain path going up and from the towers, the guards of the keep have a good vision on who approaches the keep. Making it a perfect location as a safe haven, if the Cho clan ever need one.

Due this, many a Cho have found a home in the keep. Though the clan does accept others, those aren't yet allowed to live in the high halls. Often residing in small houses outside the keep itself or if accepted, in the lower halls. There aren't many 'outsiders' who decide to live near the keep, cause they would need to climb the steep path towards the Upper Gate. Or else attempt to climb the somewhat rocky terrain that could provide a sort of access, though seeing the guards not being fond of people attempting to come through what they call the 'Lower Gate', it isn't suggested one should do that.

Right in front of the Upper Gate is a more festival looking market. As the Cho clan is known to be a somewhat trading clan, the market in front of the Keep of Dayi, attracts traders from the province of the Noodle as Fire of the Akinian empire alike.

Inside the halls of the keep, the Cho clan harbour and gather their clan's knowledge. A great library where a vast amount of history of the Cho clan as well information about other clan's can be found within the great library. This library is rooted within the mountain in which the keep is build and only accessible if access is granted by the Gatekeeper - an honorary and very serious position, who oversees who is and why they are allowed into the underground and dark halls of knowledge. In those dusty and dark halls, the Cho clan have kept information about trade deals, treaties, contact with other clans and more information kept. .

    • As a non-shinobi clan, the Cho clan doesn't really have a special or a hidden clan technique/ability. They instead just focus on what they are good at, which is often their talent at genjutsu and Water Release ninjutsu. Not to forget their talent for the art of Silent Killing. This doesn't apply with every shinobi or kunoichi of the Cho Clan.

    • Less pragmatic than the clans that are more focused on being shinobi, the Cho clan have their own culture. At least, that is what they tend to say and are often proud of it. Instead of a simple bow, they often tend to show more respect by forming a fist with their left hand and pressing it against their right-hand palm. While performing a bow while making this gesture, this shows great respect and good intent towards the one that has been given the gesture to. This is just one of the many traditions and rituals that the Cho clan have.

They also have a considerable amount of legends, myths and folklore that they use to explain several things. As how the world has been made, how night and day shift and other explainable things. Though in the past this has been used to tell others on such information, this time, and era it is more used to also help the young children learn about the world in a more fun and easy way. After all, the Cho clan isn't one that tightly follow their beliefs as they don't even see it as a true religion. Just an aspect of their own clan and culture that they cherish. And though they are pretty tolerant, they seem to have a hatred towards religions like the Jashin or others where one is pushed into either believing or facing their ''truth''. Thanks to the long bond and cooperation with the Hons and Sarutobi clans, the Cho have some similarities with them.

Similarities with the other Chonobi cultures.

      Spoiler

The Hon, Sarutobi and Cho clans have a long history with each another. Alliances were forged ages ago with marriages, treaties and shedding blood together, Over time they started to adapt culture traits, manners and norms from each other. Here follows a list of such examples :

      * Ancestor worship :

Though each clan has their own ancestor and it even can be said that each family has their revered ancestor, there are a few ancestors that are in general revered. Of course, each clan and culture have a different approach to their ancestors and various rituals. And these rituals and paying homage can also vary between families and individuals.

      * Chonobi :

        Sarutobi footmen.
        Another example of Sarutobi footmen.
An example of a Sarutobi guard.
        A War Maiden.

      * Music and feasting :

        • It is believed that the ruling family that have united the Cho's is the blessed one of the Moon, making the head of the clan often not only the political leader but also the highest priest(ess) of the clan. The (first) Heir is believed to be chosen by the will of the Moon to become thus the successor of receiving the blessing of the Moon.
        • 'Old Chonobi' is a second language that the Cho share with the Sarutobi and Hon clan. The pronunciation of the language is shorter and thus, make it sound more direct than the common speech.
        • Every Cho is required to respect and listen to the commands of the Clan Leader. The leader is the one that holds absolute saying over the clan.
        • Every Cho is required to uphold the friendly ties the Cho clan has with other clans. Meaning to show respect to those clans.
        • Its tradition that when a member of the Cho clan comes to age (15th birthday) that they receive the blessings of the Elders. Meaning that they will be considered adult members of the clan. This comes with both the responsibilities of helping the clan when having a job as one can't call him or herself an adult in the Cho clan if they don't contribute to the existence of the clan and state.
        • The members of the Cho clan that chose the path of the Shinobi are bound to swear an oath to protect the Heir of the clan, seeing the heir as one of the most important people of the clan.
        • There is an old tradition of red scarfs. When a beloved of a Cho is required to march to war, one of their beloved (either the mother, sister or wife) knits a red scarf for good luck and protection. Cho's that have red hair often knit in some of the red strings of their own hair, to improve the luck and for the wearer to find his way back home.
        • While not a warlike or shinobi clan, some traditions of old haven't still faded away from the clan. When set on a path of vengeance or heading out to face what one would deem impossible odds, either a sister or the person's mother can bestow protection and luck by applying finger paint to the face. This drawn with the right thumb. Symbols that are regarded holy (such as the moon for example) are drawn on the face.
        • After childbirth, the mother and the baby are needed to stay 40 days at home. On the 40th day, a special ceremony is done. The name of the ceremony is long lost, but most Cho's call it the 'Cleansing' ceremony. Forty stones from forty places that belong to the Cho are brought together for the ceremony in a Cho temple. Dropped into the water, the father is required to drop a single gold coin into the water as well, for good fortune. Then the baby is washed with the water and be given a name.
        • Knocking on wood three times with your right hand when mentioning an unwanted situation, to prevent bad spirits from hearing about it.
        • Drinking a cup of Cho Tea with a friend is believed to be worth 40 years of friendship, creating the saying : "Drinking one cup of Cho Tea together with your friend will not be forgotten for 40 years."
        • Giving another person a blooming moon flower is a way to propose in the ways of the Cho culture.

      Cho myths, stories and legends.

      The faithful samurai.
*~ Gero provided me with this one.~*

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess. Her beauty was spoken of throughout the lands. Poets wrote tomes filled to the brim with sonnets and limericks devoted to her beauty. Artists filled entire galleries with paintings and sculptures trying desperately to capture her near perfect form. Her beauty was surpassed only by her wisdom. Her father, the daimyo, had raised her to be a fair just, ruler and over time, her only concern became the happiness and safety of her subjects.

One fateful day, a charming prince came to town. He had come to woo the princess and woo he did. They spent hours together. Hours became days. Days became weeks and the beautiful princess began to fall in love with the charming prince. Their love was spoken of throughout the kingdom.

One day, the charming prince took the beautiful princess to a shady meadow at the edge of the deep wood. He began to tell her how much he loved her. He said if she loved him, she would go into the deep wood and pick him the rarest flower in the world: the scarlet rose. The princess agreed out of pure devotion to the charming prince and went into the deep wood in search of the scarlet rose. The sun began to set and just when all seemed lost she happened upon the rose. She reached for the beautiful bloom but, at the very touch of the thorns, the beautiful princess fell into a deep sleep. The charming prince then appeared. He stood over her body and smiled. It had been his plan all along. He then stole all the princess’ riches and stole away. He had a maiden waiting for him in another kingdom and he left the beautiful princess alone in the deep wood.

The daimyo sent out search parties but to no avail. Months passed until, one day while hunting, the daimyo happened upon a beautiful woman covered in vines. It was his daughter. He tried to wake her but try as he might she would not stir from her deep sleep. The daimyo lamented over his beautiful daughter, taken from him in the prime of life. He called his advisors to him who took the beautiful princess back to the castle. They laid her down in her bed chamber and pondered what to do. His advisors studied her sleep and found that the cause was the poison of the scarlet rose. When they informed the daimyo he begged them to give her an antidote but no such antidote existed. They tried every potion in the kingdom to rouse her but none would wake the beautiful princess. The daimyo’s advisors came to him and told him that all they could do was wait for the poison to run its course. The daimyo enraged, searched the kingdom for the cause of his daughter’s sleep. He found nothing until he heard a word from another kingdom of a young prince whose fortune arose seemingly from nowhere. This was the charming prince that had betrayed her.

The daimyo, then, issued a decree that, from that day forward, should a man wish for his daughter’s hand that man must wait at the kingdom for her to awaken. Men from across the world came to wait for the hand of the maiden of incomparable beauty. The suitors lined the streets of the kingdom. Each trying to prove his worth and so it was.
But as the years went by the stories of the princess’ beauty faded from record and the art made in her image was lost. And slowly men began to grow weary of waiting believing that the beautiful princess would never awaken. One by one they left the kingdom. Days turned to months turned to years until the streets, once lined with suitors lie barren. All the suitors had left the beautiful princess

      Save for one.

A lone samurai remained. Knelt at her bedside, he had not budged from the moment he arrived. His armor, heavy with rust, he waited on. Time passed until one fateful day the princess finally awoke. When she opened her eyes, only one knelt before her: the most faithful samurai. As he looked in her newly opened eyes, he spoke of what had transpired: The poison, the daimyo’s decree, and how he’d waited for her.

But then the most faithful samurai said something that surprised her. He spoke of how he had always loved her from afar. He said he had become a samurai in hopes of one day serving her in her court. The beautiful princess was moved to tears. She called in her father who was elated to see his daughter in full spirits yet again. Out of his joy, he promised her anything she desired. She said she wished for only one thing: the faithful samurai to join her in her court. But not as a samurai, but as her husband.

They were married the next day and the kingdom rejoiced. And for years to come, the kingdom would tell the tale of the beautiful princess and the most faithful samurai.

      - The Cho Temple in the middle of the Cho compound within Konohagakure

The religion of the Cho is a mix between ancestor worship and some shamanistic roots. The Cho's don't believe in Gods nor in humans that are capable of doing inhuman feats, such as flying or hurling trees with a soft sigh. This has made many Cho's not even regarding the tale of the Sage true as it is contradicting their whole religion that humans aren't capable of doing something impossible. And seeing how Bijuu are, there are serious doubts within the Cho clan about the tale of the Sage of the Six Paths.

There is, however, an interesting aspect as the religion of the Cho clan is more or less adaptable. While they see the celestial bodies as important parts of their religion. During the day the sun is untouchable, overseeing all. And during the night and darkness, the moon provides some reprieve with her light. With the crest of the Cho clan, which is a moon flower, it isn't much of a surprise that the Cho's do worship the moon more. She is there in the time of darkness, trying to watch over her followers while the sun is asleep.

      • The Assassins of the Rose.
''Serving in the shadows of the Leaf,
        Working in many ways,
        But loyal to only two.''

The special formation of Cho shinobi that excel in assassination and scouting. Though they are known to the Hokage and the higher-ups, most of the Leaf aren't familiar with the hidden unit of the Cho clan. Many of the clan are barely known with the assassins and scouts of the Rose Assassins. Trained and excelling in fields that make them good assassins and scouts, they have some resemblance to ANBU units, though it is probably not that well supported or well trained. They are however unlike those not many units like these given a kind of uniform. Dressed often in simple clothes to make them blend in crowds with ease, they have no tattoo or another way to recognise them from a civilian. Apart from their skill or any weapon they have on a person during a mission. Another detail that makes them different is that they don't operate in set cells of two or four teams. Depending on the target or mission, they are formed in teams with the numbers that is ought to do the mission.

While they serve and listen to the Hokage, they are utterly loyal to the Cho Clan head and Heir. Their first duty is to protect the Heir after all, like all of the Cho. It is not rare to think that the unit has some people set on guard duty to make sure that the family of the Head is being supervised and guarded against threats. They also perform missions on orders of the Head.

      • Cho Guards
        [IMG]

Though the Cho clan isn't a warrior or shinobi clan like that of the Hon, Nimatsu, Uchiha or any known clan that is known for their fierce fighters, the merchants need protection. Their trade is based on more than the loyalty and honour of their customers and allies. Though they have and still hire other clans to help and protect their trade, the people of the Cho clan aren't naive. An ally in the morning can be your enemy at the evening. Certainly in a cut-throat world of the shinobi clans, it is risky to just depend yourself on another person or clan. For that reason the old clan had formed a military of their own, that used their own fighting styles. (Akin, more versed in the Chinese martial arts than Japanese)

After the clan got more separated, the Cho guards were more and more rare to be sighted. With the clan however back, the Cho Guards have been formed again. They are the public guards and police force in the Cho compound and the occasional retinue of any Cho merchant that can afford to pay the Head enough to hire a group of these men and women. Unlike the Assassins of the Rose, they have a uniform, depending on the occasion and rank. Next to that, they also have a ceremonial function during some meetings and festivals.

These days the guards wield a numerous amount of weapons. Next to the much-expected ninjutsu and other more shinobi related skills, they often chose a weapon that they use instead of kunai, shuriken or traditional katana. There are guards who decide to go for a polearm, like a spear, bow and arrow, hook sword and more diverse. The most do have a regular use of rope darts.

    • Relations with other clans/organizations

      -Hon and Sarutobi clan,
Allied. They have a very tight bond with the Hon clan, due their Heir being a half Hon. Not to mention that the Cho clan provides the necessary traders between the Hon, Sarutobi and Konohagakure, to ensure the first two won't run out on any needed resource or supplies. The long standing relation and cooperation with the three clans have created a strong trust between the similar cultures.

      - Hyūzu clan
Friendly. They have a very strong bond with the Hyūzu clan. It's because they buy the weapons of the clan and then sell it at a profit at the markets. In exchange for the promise of protection, whenever that is needed, the Cho clan also gives back some profit they make to the Hyūzu clan. They also sell metal ore, gaining through trade with the Nimatsu clan, with a special price towards the Hyūzu clan. Though the Cho clan also keeps the secrets of the Hyūzu safe, as they have sworn an oath to never reveal the secrets of their allied clan.

      - Nimatsu clan
Friendly. In exchange for selling the weapons the Hyūzu clan sells to the Cho, the latter sells it (for a more reasonable price) towards the Nimatsu clan. With their alliance, the Cho clan also is able to prevent another hostile outbreak between the Hon and Nimatsu clan. Furthermore, they are able to import at a discount the metal ore and delicious sake that the Nimatsu clan are able to produce.

      - Kusanagi clan
Currently just trading. The Nomad clan has a trade agreement with the Cho clan that entitles that the latter sells ore to the clan at a reasonable price. In return, the Kusanagi allow the Cho to sell own grown spices and their weaponry - for a commission of 16% in return of the profit that the Cho make. They also import as the sole party the warhorses that the nomad clan raise. The horses are sold after the age of two, to grow the foal. They are also brought up in the way that the Kusanagi see fit in order to not let it be compromised in the interest of the good profit the Cho make from this. In return for the generous profit that they are able to make from this trade agreement, the Cho praise the Kusanagi name by their customers.

      Benefits of the trades ;

With the bonds between the Nimatsu and Hyzu, the Cho clan has been able to gain control of a trade in high quality weapons and armor. They often use it for their newfound agents and guards, making their shinobi on par with those of the shinobi focused clans. This results that the mesh armour and other equipment of the Cho clan and those who have enough to buy the expensive gears have an advantage of those who need to rely on more average or lower quality equipment.

      Outcast Members:

Izumi Kawaguchi (Leader of the rebellion, Deceased)
Naonobu Kawaguchi (Husband of Izumi, part of the rebellion, Deceased)

    • History:
The Kawaguchi clan was founded at the year 380 by Norogumi Kawaguchi. This was after many months of talking with two other clans about forming a better community with them. At the end, only one of the two clans agreed to join with them, and Norogumi took the leadership, naming everyone in the clan Kawaguchi, as their new settlement was at the edge of a river.

For many years, the clan lived in peace and prospered. There were fights with other clans, but they managed to stay strong and survive. At the year of 405, the amount of members they had started to decline due to the fact many of their members now went to join people from other clans, letting go of the name Kawaguchi. The now elderly Norogumi saw no ill in this, and allowed them to do so, as long as they remembered to visit. Many of the now former members did come to visit, which brought happiness to Norogumi.

Several years later, at the year 411, Norogumi was at his death bed. He listened to what his clan members wanted and appointed a successor to him. The Successor was called Tatsui, and he was very much like Norogumi at first, being very open to the fact that members went and joined other clans, hoping this will bring the clans closer and allow forming better relationships.

The clan was under Tatsui's leadership when Tsueno, the soon to be First Raikage, approached the Kawaguchi clan among the many clans and asked for their assistance in bringing down the Tailed Beast, the Hachibi. Tatsui agreed, upon realising that success will mean a much better relationship between all the clans that were involved. Some of the clan members were unsure of this decision, but decided to go along, as they did not wish to question their leader.

Tatsui left to aid with many clan members, with a number being close to 100 men in total. Tatsui never made it back to the village, and only 2 members made it back, both with minor injuries, who managed to tell them how Tsueno accomplished at sealing the beast, but at the cost of many lives. The remaining members quickly gathered and discussed on who will be the next clan leader. Eventually a choice was made, being Tatsui's eldest daughter, Seka Kawaguchi.

Seka had slowly managed to make the clan recover by joining the newly formed village of Kumogakure. At first, it seemed like everything will be well, as the amount of people that now left the clan became much smaller. Seka was not as kind as her father or the clan founder to those who did decide to leave, telling them that if they left, then its for good.

Seka's younger sister, Izumi, had plans of her own. She felt like the clan was giving plenty to Kumogakure and the village was not returning anything, and along with her husband planned to throw Seka out of being the clan leader and make her the clan leader instead, so the clan will leave Kumogakure and become independent once more. When the time for the rebellion came, it appeared like an inner massacare.

Only 10 people now remained alive in the clan, with Seka and Izumi being among them. Seka banished Izumi and her husband from the clan, telling them to never come back and to never use the name Kawaguchi ever again. After this, Seka went with the remaining 7 members and built a residence within Kumogakure, feeling that an entire village for 8 people was too much. She did ensure that they visited the village often, and made it into the clan Memorial place, for the many lives lost along the way.

A couple of years later, Seka had a child. She named him Yasushi and raised him to know the clan traditions and history by heart, while also watching him become a fine shinobi. She perished 20 years later, at the year 449. By then, only Yasushi and 1 other member remained within the clan, with the other member dying during a mission for Kumogakure. A year later Yasushi found love, and 2 years later he had a child, and named him Taro. At the year of 466, Yasushi passed away due to an illness, and Taro now remained the sole member of the clan, completely unaware that there were outcast members that wished to take vengance on the clan, meaning on him.

Most of the clan members possess purple eyes.
      Good memory.
      Common Affinity toward Earth.
Most find themselves to have a skill with a certain type of weapon, no more than a single type.

      Techniques:
The clan had no unique techniques, but many members learned the Earth Dome technique, as it allowed them to be capable of creating a shelter on nearly any kind of battlefield.

      Excellent relationship with Kumogakure (Taro)

  7. The Uchiha Clan

"Our pride lies in this city."

    • Name:

      Uchiha Clan

      Location:

      Konohagakure

      Village:

      Konohagakure

      *
      * *

      Traits:

      - Wielders of the Sharingan

The bloodline ability of the clan that is only inhereted by a select few and is seen (especially by the Uchiha themselves) as one of the most powerful kekkei genkai's in the world, giving the wielder the ability to see chakra colors and copy movements/jutsu from their opponents and predict their movements.

      - Fire Release Affinity

Eighty percent of the Uchiha's will start out with an inherent affinity for fire release. This makes fire often the first element they unlock and often the element they are the most comfortable with. Fire Released his high regarded under members of the clan because it was the chakra nature owned by Yoshimitsu, the "founder" of the clan.

      - Dark Hair

Since the dawn of time many Uchiha's have been born with dark blue hair. It is unsure from where this trait originates, but the gene seems to be dominant in most of the families and also in families that only have one Uchiha member.

    • The history of the Uchiha clan is closely tied to the history of Konohagakure simply because of the fact that the Uchiha clan was one of the two clans that would create the famous city in the Land of Fire, the other being the Senju clan.

      *
      * *

      The Lost History
      *Unknown to anyone*

Way back, in the far beginning days of the Warring Clans, the Uchiha owned a good piece of land that brought them much prosperity. However, the Uchiha found themselves eyeing another piece of land that was even more lucrative. A piece of land owned by another clan named the Kuchiru. They were a relatively small clan owning only a few villages, but their land was rich and the crops grown there were famed across the land. So the Uchiha found themselves making an alliance with the Kuchiru, swooping in before the other clans could take it, and made an offer the Kuchiru could not refuse. The Uchiha would give the Kuchiru a marriage with a member of their Inner Branch, a member with the chance to become clanleader of the Uchiha, as well as their full protections. In return the Kuchiru would give the Uchiha access in their lands and would start up a lucrative trade with the wielders of the Sharingan. It was a bargain the leader of the Kuchiru took quite happily.

On the day of the marriage the Uchiha marched into the Kuchiru land to present the groom. Among their ranks was general Shigetane Uchiha. He was a famous man in the lands and had lead many battles to great successions. It was partly because of his strategic insight that the Uchiha had flourished in the recent years. People knew his name, people knew his face and seeing him march into the Kuchiru lands made people come out of their houses. Dressed impeccable Shigetane brought an Uchiha army into the Kuchiru lands to honor the new alliance. Unbeknownst to the Kuchiru though the army consisted mostly of their most deadly assassins and fighters.

After the marriage was sealed and the festivities ended night set in and darkness overtook the village. In that darkness Shigetane sent out his fighters. His men slaughtered everyone. From the clain heads and their family to the lowest farmer. And across the Kuchiru lands the same thing happened. The whole clan was wiped out in a night. The next day, however, it seemed like nothing had changed. There was still someone leading the Kuchiru lands, there were still people in the fields. To the rest of the world it seemed that the Kuchiru had just merged with the Uchiha and as time go by the name faded away as the Uchiha removed all documents of their existance slowly but surely. No one would know what happened on that night. Ever. And no one did. Over time those lands had just always been owned by the Uchiha.

      The Known History

In 414 Gakuro Senju and Yoshimitsu Uchiha founded Konohagakure. Yoshimitsu went down in history as the founder of the Uchiha clan as it is known today, but the clan is older then that, already being prominent in the age of Warring Clans. Yoshimitsu, however, vouched that he would get rid of the blood that tarnished the Uchiha name because of that period - they hadn't been the most peaceful of clans around after all - and therefore destroyed most records from that time. In this way he effectively erased many names from the face of the earth. The Uchiha clan would start with a clean slate in a new city that was build upon the foundations of a dream.

The leadership fell in the hands of Gakuro, a choice that was carefully made. By the time that Konoha was founded Yoshimitsu was an old man and he left the leadership to someone who could rule for a longer period of time, feeling that like that necessary for such a beginning city. Not four yearrs after Konoha's foundation Yoshimitsu passed away, leaving his dreams to his three sons. The oldest followed his father's legacy in that he both gained leadership over the clan and was blessed with three sons. Shozo, Daisuke and Amirati. These became the core of the clan. Between these three it had always seemed clear that Shozo would follow his father's footsteps and the other two would support them. But not everything went quite as expected. In early years Daisuke showed much potential and became the favorite of Gakuro much to the dismay of Shozo who much desired to be aclaimed.

In the year 444 Shozo's first son, Hisoka, was born and during the same year Amirati left the compound and the clan much to the dismay of his father. It would be only a couple years later that Amirati would have a son of his own: Soru Deshuga, keeping the name his wife and therefore completely throwing away the Uchiha name and ties. Five years later Shozo received a daughter named Suchi. Daisuke remained without a wife. On the other side of the clan, originating from the other sons of Yoshimitsu, there were briths as well. Harumi Uchiha was born on 447 to Yoshimitsu's fourth grandson Tomoi. Where as Yoshimitsu's thrid son would give rise to the line that would bring forth Sayomi Uchiha.

      *
      * *

In 450 the leader of the Uchiha clan passed away due to a severe illness and Shozo became leader of the clan as was expected. Following his dead Gakuro Senju passed away in 451 naming Daisuke as his successor creating the first Uchica clan member who became Hokage This to much annoyance of his older brother Shozo who set out on a new mission to make his son Hisoka the next Hokage.

In 460 the war started and, of course, the Uchiha clan joined the fight to protect Konoha. Shozo send his own son of 14 to fight expecting him to make a name for himself while he himself organized the war from back home. In 461 the Uchiha clan took a blow when Daisuke died in one of the attacks. Much to Shozo's dismay it was not Hisoka who succeeded him but Zakito Hon. The same Zakito would become close friends with Hisoka during the time of the war.

The war ended in 464 and brought with it many losses. Shozo's daughter Suchi had died and upon Hisoka's return Shozo demanded an explination for his son's behavior. He was supposed to have become Hokage. Upon hearing this Hisoka left the compound, but never left the clan. In an attempt to again regain more control over his son's life and to improve his son's chances of succeeding Shozo engaged Hisoka to Harumi to keep the clan pure and strong. In 463 Harumi gained a nephew, Katsu who would become friends with the later installed Empress. In 468, far away in Amegakure, Amirati Uchiha died and his son Soru brought him back to the compound in Konoha without anyone but Hisoka being aware of it. Soru Deshuga would go on to be Amegakure's Jounin Commander and had already gained a son named Sho (born in 460).

      *
      * *

In 471 due to pressure from the Konoha Elders Hisoka left the city. Shozo broke of Hisoka's engagement and shunned the name of his son. That was until Hisoka's return in 474 and his instalment as Hokage, the second Uchiha to be Hokage. Unbeknownst to everyone Hisoka reliquished his title to Meisa Ichi only months after he had received it. The year 476 marked the appearance of the Empire of Akino that was met with animosity from the Uchiha side who felt like one of their members should be on the throne seeing as they were one of the founding fathers of Konoha and not Kiyomi Sato-Hon.

      Black Names: Alive
      Grey Names: Deceased

Upon marriage the person who is not an Uchiha will generally take up the name Uchiha, be it man or woman.

      *
      * *

The Inner Branch of the Uchiha family is the line within the clan who are direct descendants of Yoshimitsu Uchiha, the founder of Konoha. They hold the most sway in the clan and are valued highly. Upon the death of the clanleader his position will go to his eldest son. When this isn't possible the rule will befall any brothers he might have. Might his brothers have passed then the rule will fall on the first son of his eldest brother and so on. Might he not have any brothers then the rule will befall his oldest uncle or his first son in case the uncle has passed away. Might the legitemate heir be of such an age that he is not yet a man, the rule will fall on the wife of the previous clanhead until the son/cousin has come of age and has proven himself in the trials.

    • Sharingan Techniques

Techniques that have been developed and can only be used by wielders of the Sharingan. These techniques include Sharingan Genjutsu, Mangekyo Sharingan, Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, but also more unknown jutsu that were developted by Daisuke Uchiha. Many of these techniques are stored away in Daisuke's Secret Library in his tomb.

      *
      * *

      Name of Technique:
      Heaven's eye
      Type of Jutsu:
      Defensive, Supplementary
      Rank:
      B
      Range:
      >150 m
      Nature Type:
      Sharingan
      Handseals:
      Snake ==> Dog ==> Hare ==> Dragon ==> Boar ==> Tiger ==> Ox ==> Bird ==> Dragon.
      Description:
Making use of the Sharingan, the user needs to make a clone which will then be able to share its vision with the original. This can give the advantage that the user is able to dodge surprise attacks, which would else been unable to notice or to dodge. Also this jutsu can't simply be copied by other Sharingan users/uchiha.
      Weakness:
Though the advantage is great, the jutsu limits the user of only having one clone. Trying to make more clones will result in failure and a waste of chakra. The clone also needs to stay in range of 150m of the real person so that the jutsu can stay active. This jutsu also puts a strain on the body making it hard for the user to use big chakra consuming jutsu/actions. Another negative part is that non-Uchiha can't use Sharingan genjutsu when using this jutsu.

      *
      * *

      Great Fireball Technique

While technically a jutsu that is available for everyone in the world to learn, the Uchiha have taken up the claim that their clan is the creater of the technique. Whether this is true or not, they take great pride in it and it is one of the jutsu that every young Uchiha child with Fire Release is forced to learn.

    • The Uchiha clan is a prideful clan, not to be confused with arrogant. They take pride in being an Uchiha and being part of a clan that founded the great city of Konoha. The traditions they have a close tied with their pride and their love for the city they live in. They like to look back at their past and celebrate it.

      *
      * *

      Ancestor Worship:

The Uchiha culture is based on their faith in their ancestors. In everything they do they believe that their ancestors are watching over them, judging them with every step they take. From a young age the children are taught to always honor their ancestors as it is them who brought them on the path they are on now, the path of prosperity. Not performing to the best of your abilities would put a shame on their name and they will be strike back at you for that causing ill luck to befall you. Putting shame on the name of your ancestor is the worst fate an Uchiha can befall. In their eyes it is in every way worse than death. No one will acknowledge you, no one will look at you, no one will deal with you until you have redeemed yourself.

For outsiders the ancestor worship shows itself in the festivals that the Uchiha hold every year. Almost all of them are centered in some way around the worship or bear some significance to the past. The Uchiha are stubborn about their traditions and change is not something they like. Their ancestors can't change, so why would they?

      *
      * *

      Belief in the Sage:

The Uchiha, like many other clans in the land of Fire, are of the belief that the Sage of the Six Paths existed and brought the shinobi arts into the worlds. For them the Sage is something akin to a holy figure. They see him as the beginner of their greatness, something akin to their shared ancestor. He brought them something they could fight with, he brought them something they could conquer with and become something more than just a clan. Since their belief is as such they view clans who do not share this belief as lower. Apparently they were so stupid as to forget who started it all.

      *
      * *

      Nanori and Yobina:

At their birth Uchiha children are given not one name, but two. The nanori, which will be the formal name that they will use in public life alongside their surname, and the yobina. The yobina is a personal name only used by immediate family, close relatives and intimate acquiantances. Meaning that only a handful of people know this name. As such the yobina carries a rather significant meaning with it as it is a name that is only used in close family context. When a man and woman get married they signify this bond symbolically by telling each other their yobina. Telling your own yobina or even worse the yobina of a family member to someone who has no right of knowing the name is a terrible deed. Sharing it, however, with an intimate friend will show the faith one has in that friend. Might that trust be twarthed then the blame lies with both parties, but one can be sure that the friendship is over. People take great offense when their yobina is used in the wrong context or by the wrong people.

If anything the yobina has a symbolic meaning. The name tends to have more weight than the nanori. A child that gets scolded by their parents in their yobina knows that it is time to step down. A son that gets ordered by his father in his yobina knows that he should heed these words especially well. Lovers using each others yobina when they are alone in the house are said to live happily ever after.

      *
      * *

      Celebrating New Year:

      31 December / 1 January

the traditional signal of the New Year is given on 12 am by ringing the one large bell in the great hall 180 times. The ringing starts at 11 pm and as soon as the last ring is done the new year has started. The bell is rung to wish everyone who hears it good luck and prosperity. The first ring is traditionally preformed by the clan leader. After the bell has rung 180 times fireworks are lounched into the sky.

      *
      * *

      Honoring of Ancestors:

      4 February

"Celebrated" on the day of Yoshimitsu Uchiha's death, the Uchiha chose this day to commemorate and honor their departed. The clan will gather in the great hall that was build in the middle of the compound. The current clan leader will read a piece from the dairy of Yoshimitsu that talks about the foundation of the city and the goals he wanted to achieve. Then the people will eat a tradition meal of soba noodles and fish.

The day is often used to visit the graves in the private cemetery of the Uchiha. Those that have lost people will often bring little candles to the graves to give them another day in the light.

      *
      * *

      Initiation:

      Third Monday of August

Every year the children of the Uchiha clan have one chance to prove to the adults that they are no longer children in combat and can fight for themselves. Do they fail then they remain a child for another year and will be treated as such. In theory the child can join as soon as his or her parents consider the child ready for the test, but in truth the child can be no younger then ten.

Most of the Uchiha children prove their worth by showing either their skill with Sharingan, might they have unlocked the doujutsu, or their capability of launching an effective Great Fireball, a technique they take great pride in. If an Uchiha member doesn't possess either of these abilities, as happens more and more in the current day and age due to intermingling bloodlines, then the test can be passed by showing off other skills such as the mastering of another release or exceptional tai-, ken- or genjutsu. The child is judged by four judges which include the clan leader and three other randomly chosen members. The parents of the child are effectively excluded from the judging for obvious reasons.

If a child passes the judging he or she will now be considered an adult in combat abilities and can be called upon for battle. The judging resuls are beyond contestation and cannot be changed once given.

    • Current relations as build up and maintained by Shozo Uchiha, the current clan head. Does not portray individual thoughts of Uchiha clan members about these clans.

      *
      * *

      Senju Clan:

      Allied.
The Senju are the Uchiha's oldest allies going back to the days of the Warring Clans before the foundation of Konoha. Due to the Senju's slow decline the alliance is weaker than it was before, but the Uchiha will always see the Senju as their brothers and would come to their aid or will seek out theirs.

      *
      * *

      Hyuuga Clan:

      Allied. Conflicted.
As another famous and prestigious clan of Konohagakure and one that shares an equal strong doujutsu the Uchiha see the Hyuuga clan both as strong allies and as rivals. Each clan considers their own doujutsu superior to the other and mixing the two as an absolute offense, but on the other side they both share a great love for Konoha.

      *
      * *

      Hon Clan:

      (Forcibly) Allied.
As a clan that does not have a compound in Konoha and refused to take on up a place in the city, the Uchiha don't view the Hon with high regard. They admit that great shinobi have risen from the clan, but they were never a complete clan from Konoha. With the rise of the Akino Empire and a Hon as the first Empress tensions have risen between the two, the Uchiha are insisting that they have more claims on the throne.

      *
      * *

      Hanta Clan:

Allied. Viewed as something of a vassal.
Historical allies, the Uchiha view the Hanta as friends, but as friends that stand below them. During the period of the Warring Clans the Hanta clan's lands stood between the Uchiha and the Hon and as such provided the protection from the Hon raids that they desired. Keeping the relations with the clan up thus proved to be rather lucrative. Now that the clan has moved to Konoha the relations have stayed good.

      *
      * *

      Other Konoha Clans:

The Uchiha maintain good relationships with all clans that have build their foundations in Konoha. This includes the Nara, Yamanaka, Akamichi and other prestigious clans. While they are not as high regarded as the Senju or the Hyuuga, the Uchiha consider themselves close with these clans.

      *
      * *

      Kusanagi Clan:

      Conflicted.
As newcomers to Konoha and the Akinian Empire the Uchiha watch the Kusanagi with a hint of distrust. Not easily trusting outsiders, the Kusanagi are considered untrustworthy until proven otherwise. Of course, since they are guests of the Empress herself the Uchiha do not go against the Kusanagi nor do they strife to drive the clan back to where they belong. But strangers have to prove themselves before anything can happen.

  8. The Sato Clan

"All one needs in life is the earth, the sky, your family and a flock of sheep."

    • Name:

      Sato Clan

      Crest :

      None

      Location

      Roaming the Land of Lightning.

      Village

No village, the Sato are nomads.

      Traits:

      - Tanned:

Because of their life outside the Sato have a natural tanned skin.

      - Good horse-riders:

It is said they practice before they can properly walk. Almost every member of the Sato-clan has a horse. It is one of the best giftst a child can get.

      - Resilient:

Their outdoor life has made them capable of withstanding harsh weather pretty well. They also hardly ever get sick.

    • Since the beginning were there clans that roamed through the Land of Lightning, but where as most of them settled down in villages when they spawned there were several that kept the practice of traveling and living off their trade going. Two of these were the Sato and the Ariyama clan. Both clans were small with a limited amount of member. Both were herding sheep and shipped the wool, milk, cheese and meat to make a living. During that time the land was rather peaceful and the clans trived. The two clans didn't have much contact with each other except during the clanmeetings that were held every couple year. The Sato clan travelled every two weeks in search of grass for their sheep.

Nothing of extreme note happened in that time. The Sato travelled, the sheep ate. There was hardly any dispute in the clan and no real problems that couldn't be mended. Yet they were small and soon the realisation came that if they stayed as small as they were they would die out.

458 was the year that the Ariyama clan, a clan that had mostly been traversing the southern part of the Land of Lightning whereas the Sato spend their time in the north, approached the Sato with a cry of need. Due to a skrimish at the border with the Land of Fire the Ariyama had suffered great losses in cattle. Because the two clans were on good terms and had met several times before an agreement was made. Shunso Sato, the youngest son of the, at that time, current chief Takayuki Sato, was to marry Chie Ariyama, the daughter of one of higher ranked members of the Ariyama clan. Their marriage would seal the intergration of the Ariyama clan into the Sato clan, bringing profit for both and making the clan trive.

By the time that their first daughter was happily placing its first steps the peaceful nomad life was disrupted by the First Shinobi War. Even though the nomads were not shinobi and didn't partake in the fights they were, of course, affected by this full scale world war. The avoid the conflict the, now larger, Sato clan travelled north to avoid the coming storm. The pressure of war brought the need for self-defense and children and adults were thought basic taijutsu in case of emergencies. The Sato hid in the mountains only occasionally sending out people down south to gather news and resources they couldn't get themselves. And so they passed the war rather well.

Takayuki Sato passed away in 463, giving the leadership to his eldest son Masanori Sato. During his reign the war ended and the Sato could return to their normal travelling patern that now included spending more time in the south of the country.

A severe illness caught Chie Ariyama at the end of 471 and she and Shunso left the clan with their daughter to live in Kumogakure so that they could find a cure for her. In 472 Shunso returns to his clan without Chie and his daughter, whom he left behind in the city unable to sustain the closed space.

The Sato clan had a time of prosperity and relative normality. The Shojo oppression didn't affect them much since they weren't a shinobi clan and weren't involved in fighting with them. They politely retreated from the conflict not picking a side.

475 was the year that Shunso's daughter returned temporarily to the clan along with Shunso's illegitimate daughter Kiyomi Hon, who would start calling herself Kiyomi Sato-Hon after their encounter. Due to the fact that, unbeknowst by Shunso himself, the Sato clan now was the source for two Jinchuuriki the Fifth Raikage has taken a great interest in the clan's comings and goings.

    • None. The Sato are not shinobi.

    • Remembrance Day:

      16 March.

On the 16th of March the Sato pay respect to their ancestors and recently departed. Because they are a nomad clan they don't have proper burial grounds to bury their dead. To keep them in their memory and to keep paying respect to them they have one day a year on which they send their blessings to the world of the dead. One spends this day with the family and send little strips of paper up into the air so that the words might reach the departed wherever they are.

      Summer solstice:

      July.

The Summer solstice marks the day that the sun lights the world the longest. This day is customary celebrated with large bonfires, good food and drinks. The kids like it because they are allowed to stay up until the sun completely sets which is far into the late hours. If they are up north during that time it might happen that they only have a couple of dark hours.

      Nomad Clan Meeting:

Every 2 years - Third Week of August

Every two years the nomad clans meet on the fields in the south where there is a bit more space then in the mountainous area. This is a meeting to exchange goods, to meet people, gossip and mix cattle. It is also a time where the leaders talk about new happenings in the past years. The event takes about a week because the clans never arrive at the same time.

      Winter solstice:

      December

The Winter solstice marks the day that the world is the darkest. The Sato huddle around the fire and eat the traditional lamb stew made by their best cooks. During this day the tales and legends that surround the Sato clan and the Land of Lightning are told.

  9. The Imperial Homura Dynasty

    ''Tempered in Stone and Fire,
    Comes our blood.''

    • Name :
      The Imperial Homura Dynasty,
      The Homura Dynasty

      Explaining the name :

This name can used as 炎 (en, honoo) meaning "blaze, flame, inflammation" or 秀邑 with 秀 (shuu, hii.deru, ho) meaning "beauty, excel(lence), surpass" and 邑 (yuu, ure.eru, kuni, mura) meaning "rural community, village."
As a word, Homura (炎) refers to a blaze or a flame.
One could assume that this name has been a way to honour the Nibi as the name clearly refers to a flame or fire. This could be further emphasised by the crest of the Homura dynasty, which is after all the sun itself. This can also go back to the meaning of Akino itself, which means shining fields. After all, the sun shining on the village means that the fields could shine due the bright and beautiful flame.

      Nation
      The Empire of Akino
      Estate/Compound
The Royal Palace in Konohagakure is regarded as their primary estate, but the Imperial Dynasty has some other estates over the whole Empire.

      Traits
      - Due to the mixes and not just one clan technically being part of the royal bloodline, it is for now at the current moment a bit hard to determine what the traits are.

      Allied clans
The clans of the Empire, due them having sworn fealty and loyalty to the crown.

    • The Imperial Homura House was founded and started by Kiyomi Sato-Hon, chosen as the first Empress of the Akinian Empire. This made basically the Noble/Royal Right Branch of the Hon clan the founding family from which the dynasty came forth, but after the name change the dynasty was thus started by Kiyomi herself.

    • The history of the Imperial Homura Dynasty started with the founding of the Empire. After the decision was made that the Hon clan would bring forth the first ruler, Kiyomi Sato-Hon was chosen. With her hard worked reputation, renown and gained respect, she had been already been educated a bit as the Hokage Apprentice with politics.

With an Empress, a powerful clan at her back and her own status, the Empire of Akino was founded. Though it had some troubles on it start, these days the Imperial Homura dynasty has managed to stay stable as the rulers of the Empire. Though many see the Hon clan and the Imperial Homura dynasty as the same, there are some relatively distinctive differences between the clan and the dynasty.

      • Name:
        Takimara's Rock
        Location:
The fortress is built and located north-west of Konohagakure (and north of Tanzuku Gai), in the lake of Takimara.
        Appearance :
        Description:
Once a castle, built by a clan whom's name is long lost, the castle became a property of the daimyo of the Fire Country. It was used as some sort of summer residence, due to the nice and mild temperature that would even be present in some harsher winters. With of course the environment providing some natural defences, the castle was thus a safe and comfortable choice as the winter residence for the daimyo.
These days, after the end of the daimyo of the fire country, the castle is now the property of the Imperial Homura Dynasty. Who instead of using it as a mere winter residence, started to reinforce the defences. The only bridge that provides normal access to the castle got reinforced by more guards as well expanding the barracks. Though it hasn't been designated as a full military outpost of the Empire, it's location as defences make it a capable place for it.

      • Name:
        Night's Grove
        Location:
South of Keishi, at the bay of the Hanguri Gulf
        Appearance :
        Description:
A castle that has been for a long time in the possession of the daimyo's of the Fire country. The origin of the place dates even further back than the Hanamoto daimyo lineage and some say that the place is cursed. The surrounding of the castle has something away from a swamp. The weather isn't the best as it often rains or there is a light fog, which is often cursed as it is annoying to see where you walk when there is a fog making it near impossible to see where you put your next step. Next to that, the place itself has a rather intimidating appearance. With slight more dark walls and battlements, it can cast a rather sort of ominous shadow for those who try to approach the place.

At the present, the castle is much like the other estates of the Imperial Homura dynasty a mere military outpost. Without much vegetation, the defenders have a clear sight on who approach the castle, as the fog makes it only hard to see where one places his or her footing. With the addition of a deep and broad moat, there have been plenty of times when somebody miss stepped and fell into the cold water.

      • Name:
        Sea Keep
        Location:
North of the Wave province island, the Sea Keep is the main outpost for the eastern sea defence. Near the keep, there is a port where the majority of the Imperial fleet resides. From the keep, one could see the coast of the biggest island that is under control of the Akinian Empire.
        Appearance :
        Description:
An old keep that has been at first abandoned, after the damage it had taken in the Great War, other known as the First Shinobi World War. Back then it also served as a redoubt against any actions from the Water country. There were some attempts of conquering the castle, but its stout defences have so far kept any invasion force at bay.

At the highest tower, there is a specially made beacon. When lighted up, the guards at the tower can create with some chemistry various colours with the beacon, causing different signals. A thick red smoke cloud indicates that an enemy fleet is incoming, alarming the other and smaller outposts for example. Other than that, it is currently being reinforced to once more become a proud keep that keeps watch in services now for the Empire of Akino.

      • Name:
        The Royal Palace
        Location:
        Konohagakure
        Appearance :

Sight on the higher floors of the Palace
        Description:
The Royal Palace is where the Empire is ruled from. It's quite secluded from the rest of the city by at the outside a sturdy wall, guarded by Sworn Swords, Tiger Claws and Guardians. Past this wall and gates lies the beautiful gardens and park that are carefully tended to impress anybody who is allowed further inside. Depending on the status and prestige will determine on how close a meeting in the gardens will be to the palace. The higher ranked and prestige somebody has the closer to the gardens. Though the opinion of the ruling Homura of course has also a decisive impact on it. The palace is a rather large complex, and being closer to be a fortress, of its facilities :

        Attached buildings and nearby in the exterior ;
        - Stables
        - A barracks and armoury for the Sworn Swords
        - A grass field that functions as a personal training field of the Homura dynasty shinobi.
        - A training field for the Sworn Swords, which includes a range of archers as well sufficient space for formations to train.

        Interior :
The interior is organised in three floors. There are secret passageways that were made during the construction, though those who have constructed them have been made to forget them through the use of ninjutsu. These passages are quite well hidden and can lead one to virtually almost anywhere in the palace and even some into the gardens.

        First Floor :
        - The Throne Room ;
Two thick oaken doors that are quite decorated, guarded by Sworn Swords, lead to the Throne Room. A rather spacious room where the Akinian ruler(s) receive most people and hold court. The throne, a white marble is on a three elevations, which means one has to climb three short stairs in order to reach the throne. It is usually a place that enjoys a lot of light from high small windows.
        - Ball-room ;
This room is reserved for feasts, balls and such festival events being held in the palace. It's large enough to make a place for approx 150 people, with tables with delights and drink as servants while not restricting space for the guests.

        - The Council Room ;
It's where the Civic and War councils are being held. It's a room that supports room for some cabinets where books and scrolls are stored as well several maps decorating a few spots on the wall. There are a few small windows that don't seem to let much light get into the room (most likely to the position and direction) which give it a rather dark and gloomy atmosphere without candles burning. There is a large painted table where at the head of the table on a small elevation, somebody can sit on a chair and have a good view on the whole table. The table itself has a perimeter that is smooth dark wood, but a few centimetres inwards the smooth surface is shaped to resemble the known world. Small differences in height and depth as well markings give a good visual idea of the known world.

        Second Floor
        - The Library ;
The library on the second floor is composed out multiple rooms, filled almost to the brim with books. A small team of servants are specially assigned to take care of the collection as well granted the right to use the place for their own studies. There is a special place where rare books are stored away behind strong bars and locks.
        - Servant Quarters ;
A wing of the second floor is composed out of the quarters of the servants, chefs and other personnel. Their rooms aren't that large and some even share them. Thanks to the thick walls and care as maintenance it is rarely any cold inside as the temperature is quite well regulated throughout the whole palace.
        - Imperial Quarters
A large section that is reserved for the ruler of the Empire. It's where personal rooms are located and where the ruler can retreat for peace and calm. The most experienced Sworn Swords are given guard duty to keep this wing safe. Only a very few, however, are allowed to pass into the wing without invitation.
        - Training chamber
It's a room where blunted weapons are stored in racks as well other tools as equipment that allow somebody to train in private. It also has some manuals on some fighting styles on some shelves against the wall.

        Third Floor
It's where the study room is stationed. Its has the walls many bookshelves and cabinets in which more books and scrolls are stored. With windows that let light in, it also provides a great view of the exterior of the palace and the surrounding area as the nearby parts of the city.

    • Due having strict ties with the Hon clan, it is easy to assume that the Imperial Homura dynasty has taken over many of their traditions. But they have also taken over some of the Sato Traditions. It is thus easy to say that they have become a blended mix between the two and perhaps over time will generate a set of traditions that more of their own.

    • Due to the mix of technically Sato, Hon and Moto in the bloodline, one could assume that the imperial dynasty has access to their hidden and bloodline. While on the requests and inventions of Kiyomi Homura, the dynasty is gaining their own secretive knowledge, they are different from the clans which claim to be close to the royal dynasty. The Moto clan shares no real blood with the Imperial Homura Dynasty as Kiyomi had been adopted by Keiko. The Sato has no hidden as they aren't even a shinobi clan and Kiyomi has been trained in the old and secret traditional ways of the Hon clan but hasn't learned or mastered any of the hidden Hon techniques nor shown any interest in learning them.

The Keepers of the Blue Flame :
With Matatabi as the Guardian of the Homura dynasty, it is speculated that the members of the Homura line know and can manipulate the blue flames. This is however not completely true as only the host as direct offspring of a host - that has bonded enough with Matatabi - can manipulate their fire chakra into the strong blue flames. It is however that offspring of a host isn't capable of sporting the same strength with the powerful and rare chakra nature.

After some time, a particular seal was developed on the request of Kiyomi Homura. With the Nibi once agreeing to becoming the guardian and symbol of the royal dynasty it was decided that every member of the Homura dynasty is bestowed with a special seal on their left wrist and hand. This seal isn't just to identify themselves as members of the descendants of the Homura dynasty nor to further to symbolise their bond with the Nibi. When moulding their chakra through the seal it will light up and be able to open various seals that are set in place, granting access to vaults and places which the Homura dynasty has built as either safeguarding wares, knowledge or themselves.

      Speakers of Calarien:
Calarien is the old language that was lost, but with the help of the Nibi, recovered by Kiyomi. While further studying and trying to find the origin of the language hasn't yet brought up anything, the Homura dynasty uses the old language as a means to converse in secret with each other. While there probably no more people who speak, write or know Calarien it is safe to speculate that many, if not all, Tailed Beasts are known with the ancient language.

    • "Carrying the banners and bearing arms, it is neither the bolts of cloth nor the steel that make one a ruler.
It is the people who wear and bear them, in name of that said, ruler."

The elite guard corps of the Imperial Homura Dynasty. The Sworn Swords serve only the ruling member of the dynasty. Though presently the most are Hon guards and members of that clan, there is no required clan or such to become requested into the Imperial Royal Guard.

Unlike the other department recruitment manners, the Royal Guard is recruited in a different manner. Unlike the regular shinobi corps, the potential recruits of the Sworn Swords are being enlisted from the pool of academy students at the age of seven. This selection is done on the base of the family's background and the child itself. If there are any reports or archives pointing out about a missing nin or other 'accidents' then the child won't be considered as a potential recruit for the Sworn Swords. The review of the child is done by looking if it is a member of a clan and if it is in any succession line, as it is dictated that members of the Sworn Swords aren't allowed to inherit clan or family titles, to ensure their loyalty more.

Trained at one of the three specialised (training) camps, a recruit undergoes a heavy amount of training, starting to discipline the youth as well starting to educate them in what is expected from them as a member of the Royal Guard. This may sound the same as to what regular Academy students undergo, but the recruits at these training camps are also being educated further and won't be assigned to any missions until they have finished their education. This can last easily till the recruit is 16~18. From that time, the recruit will be going on missions and tasks that are also assigned to regular shinobi forces and teams. Once a trainee has reached the age of 23~25 and proven him/herself as a capable member, they are being allowed to enrol into the Sworn Swords.

Other than young men and women handpicked at a young age to be trained and prepared to become Sworn Swords, some are chosen out of different clans, bearing no discrimination to gender, age or previous rank. Chosen often as hand-picked by the ruler or his or her most trusted advisers, the members of the Sworn Swords are considered to be one of the finest fighting force of the Empire.
This means that they are more suited than only ceremonial tasks. They are responsible for the safety of the ruler of the Akinian Empire as well doing covert actions for him or her. Cause next to a public guarding duty, a portion of the members are also trained shinobi, some more than capable of performing covert actions. Actions as spying and intelligence gathering or even assassinations.

As an elite unit, the Sworn Swords are known for their discipline and loyalty. Training from sunrise till sunset, they use a variety of weapons, most also carrying round shields that are made out of fine steel that can conduct chakra better. With this, they can perform some ninjutsu formation as well protect themselves better against chakra flow experts (as they indulge into chakra flow techniques themselves as well).

      Sworn Sword Technique

      Name of Technique:
      Protective Chakra Shield
      Type of Jutsu:
      Ninjutsu
      Rank:
      B
      Range:
      Short/Self
      Nature Type:
      N/A
      Handseals:
      N/A
      Description:
A technique that is being used by the Sworn Swords. It is quite simple, but to use it to the efficiency that many of the Sworn Swords use it requires dedication and training. The user uses the basic principles of chakra flow, but instead of sharpening the edge of an object the chakra is using the conductor (often a shield, but it isn't rare that weapons are used to create fast make-shift chakra shields ) to increase the sturdiness. It is usually good enough to block and neutralise chakra flow and ninjutsu attacks from others. Genjutsu can be repulsed from the chakra shield.

      Weakness:
It offers no protection against genjutsu that are based around sound or can move around the shield. Neither can a master of the technique form a full shield around the user, only able to craft a decent sized shield in front of him/her. Furthermore, it should be noted that while one can augment the chakra with a particular nature, that it can also bring some risk. (An example : a shield infused with lightning, can be used to craft an explosion with pressurised air)

      Sworn Sword Gear

The 'uniform' of the elites of the Akinian royal bodyguard can be seen in the image above. It features full body armour with protective shoulder, forearm and shin protectors and guards. The armour is made of good quality steel and the balance spreads the weight of the armour over the body, allowing the person wearing it to be less obstructed by the weight the armour can impose on the user. Most members of the Sworn Sword cover the lower part of their face with a dark blue scarf. The left armguard is made out of 'Dragon Steel', able to guard and protect the wearer slightly better against some forms of ninjutsu. As many members of the Sworn Swords use the shield.

There are some units within the Sworn Sword that favour weapons such as bows, they technically train to be a heavy infantry or cavalry force. As the elite of the Empire, it is safe to assume that their equipment is made of one of the finest that the realm can produce and afford.

    We fight to live,

    We dream of peace,

    We enjoy freedom,

    We're the shields of Konoha!

-The vow of the Konoha Guardians

    • Name :
      Konohagakure Guardians,
Though often just being called 'Guardians'.

      Location :
Within Konohagakure, the location of the Headquarts - Azumi - being near the training fields.

      Founder :
Kiyomi Homura, in August of the year 474.

      Traditions :

So far the Guardians haven't found a tradition yet. Due the organization not discriminating regarding clan or clan-less people, it is hard to say if there is a particular tradition being dominant among the group.

    • Azumi,
      Meaning Safe Residence.

The headquarters of the Konohagakure Guardians is being called Azumi. It isn't just the administrative building or where some of the members live. It is being the place where they meet, live and train together. Some could even call it an own community of shinobi within the Leaf.

There are several parts to Azumi. In order to generate some income with started as her personal project, Kiyomi instructed a teahouse to be build next to Azumi. With money that she 'lend' from Hiron, she made sure that the starting organization was getting some income. Surprisingly enough the teahouse has become quite popular among the older aged people within the Leaf. The gardens and peaceful aura that seems to linger around Azumi.

An inside look in the teahouse of Azumi.

Attached to the teahouse is the biggest building of what is Azumi. The double door entrance gives room to what one could call the home of the Guardians. A large lounge gives the calm and peaceful aura to let members relax, meet with each other and in general sit and enjoy their time.

Furthermore, Azumi features in a summarized version :

      - A library within the main building.
      - A small attached building where a forge and smith build. This had first been manned by Tsubasa Kokoro, but has been taken over by Hayate Hyuzu after the former passed away. There is also in this same building a small armory, though members do need to pay for new gear. Even though they get a discount, unlike other non-member customers.

Azumi might be under the leadership of a person, the members know that the personal that work in the teahouse and are being paid to help around to make sure that Azumi stays clean and such, are being managed and led by a silent butler that goes by the name of Kazuo (meaning Harmonious Man)

Kazuo playing chess with Tatsuya Hon.
      Spoiler : Tatsuya lost.

    • A place that has been founded by Kiyomi Homura and at the start had been funded by Hiron Hon. The Konohagakure Guardians started out quite small. At first many believed it was simply a sort of fancy friends club, but as Kiyomi started to bond with more peers, she started to recruit more people in she considered fit. Not based on what people are or were capable off in terms of combat capabilities. But people who she considered to have the right attitude and potential to become valuable members for the growing organization. Due her growing contacts, she managed to arrange trainers after some time to help the training of the members.

With the specialized orientated trainers, that were being paid for their services and how it was being managed, Kiyomi was then approached by the people of the Academy. Being offered to work together with the Academy, Kiyomi was being involved in helping to arrange specialized trainings and thus gaining a stream of recruits that the Academy deemed fit. In case a person would be deemed fit for the Guardians, a report would be sent towards Azumi where Kiyomi would review it. If the person would be accepted it, they would be invited for a talk and based on the interview they would either be accepted or undergo a test.

      Several members of the Guardians.
      From left to right :
      * Koike Hon,
      * Masami Hyuuga,
      * Katsu Uchiha,
      * Hayate Hyuzu
      * Shikaroku Nara

Only after that Kensuke Nimatsu, a close friend and mentor of Kiyomi, had been hospitalized due some grim duel, Kiyomi revealed that she had bigger plans than many thought for the Guardians. Investing more contacts and people she trusted, Kiyomi was building the organization further out with 'higher ranked' functions within the organization. Though simple in design.

Over the time, she had also managed to create a technique that she has shared with some of the members of the Guardians. With this she had managed to prove she was capable of leading people more than just on a mission or battle, but also showing some insight on how to lead people behind a desk and knowing to take her duties as paperwork seriously. After her promotion to jounin and Hokage Apprentice, Kiyomi had been motivated to continue her work for the Guardians. Only after two years of leadership, Kiyomi reached a point where she wouldn't be able to contribute further as the leader of the organization. With becoming chosen as the First Empress of the realm, secretly by Meisa Ichi, Kiyomi decided after some time to shake up the organization and leave the leadership to Hayate Hyuzu.

    • Though a member could be called 'Guardian', there are several ranks and difference among the group. Though each member that has obtained the rank of chuunin will be granted a special flak jacket. Unlike regular shinobi, most of the Guardians are part of the specialized unit that the Guardians provide outside the Imperial Divisions.

      The Guardian Jacket,

The Guardian Jacket is something new to the Guardians. Ordered just before she left the leadership to Hayate, Kiyomi ordered a new kind of jacket model for the Guardians. Made of quite sturdy reinforced material, the new flak jackets that are specially designed and made for the members of the Guardians, are sturdier than the regular flak jackets. It is also not rare to see a member customizing the jacket with their own taste, wearing some armor parts with it. Such as arm guards, shin bracers or what one would like to wear with it. Though it doesn't have the pockets like the regular jackets, members ought to simply use pouches as nothing else changes regarding the equipment of the average member of the Guardians.

Another example of the jacket, though the color coding of the jackets are all as abouve.

      Several notes :

      * On the red armband the Crest of the Guardians can be seen.
      * Some 'trainers' and 'honor members' have been granted a Guardian Jacket, but not the red armband.

      The Top

The people who lead the organization. This is composed currently out of the prime leader, often being called and named 'Captain' and helped by his two lieutenants. Unlike the other members, the Top have a white clear waist sash to show the clear difference between them and the other ranks.

      Captain :
      - Hayate Hyūzu

      Lieutenants :

      - Koike Hon
      - Masami Hyuuga

      Protectors

The more experienced members who hold a higher rank and often thus more privileges and responsibility in the group. They often have some skill in leadership or are being granted a position to gain some experience in leading some Proteges. To become a Protector, a Protege has needed to prove him/herself for the Guardians.

      - Saki Yamanaka
      - Hideki Hyuuga
      - Katsu Uchiha

      - NPC members

      - Sui Kōkai

      Proteges

The bulk of the Guardians. Proteges aren't being regarded yet as 'Guardians' within the organization. They are being seen as the recruits of the group. They hold the least of responsibility within the Guardians organization, but aren't being taught the technique of the Guardians. Proteges aren't being granted the Guardian Jacket yet.

      - Tatsuya Hon
      - Sayuri Cho
      - Kazumo Sarutobi

      NPC members
      - Mimi Azumi
      - Mamoru Senju (FoxSVK),
      - Tona , (Chromehound )
      - Kinzo , (Chromehound )
      - Meryn , (Chromehound )
      - Chen, (Chromehound )
      - Dalin, (Chromehound )

      Trainers and honor members.

People who have been accepting a contract to help out a member of the Guardians in case they request it. In order for their help, trainers are being paid for each member they help out. Though other members within the Guardians are also deemed to be requested to worth asked to train with.

Honor members are those who've helped the Guardians with setting things up or doing something causing great progress to the Guardians. They all have been granted a Guardian jacket, without the red armband though.

      - Aiko Cho, Genjutsu and Poison trainer.
      - Kiyomi Homura , founder of the organization.
      - Hiron Hon, funded the organization.
      - Zakito Hon, helping out with the organization management and as Jounin commander arranging some matters for the Guardians..
      - Kensuke Nimatsu, due being part of the past Four. An old group within the Organizations that Kiyomi had devised to become her trustworthy group of future councilors. However it had been officially disbanded after she passed the leadership towards Hayate.

    • The Hidden Technique of the organization. Though it isn't that really special, the technique requires some special knowledge in order to understand it. This would make it a classified Hidden Technique. The technique is taught once a member is being regarded as part of the Protectors.

      With others = B ranked.
      Range:
      Short to Mid Ranged
      Nature Type:
Can be combined with all kinds of natures to create an own effect.
      Handseals:
      Tiger - Ram - Rat - Monkey - Dragon - Dog - Bird - Seal of Confrontation.
      Description:
A technique that has been developed by Lilia Kiyomi just before she made the Konoha Guardians. This technique enables the user to coat their body in chakra after forming the handseals and holding the last one for five seconds. The chakra will then start to form a kanji, Fox, on the right shoulder of the person. The effects of the jutsu is different as there are several forms that can be used, either alone or with others.

      1. ) If performed alone, then the user can use the chakra coat to use a chakra nature to create a defensive kind of coating. But instead of simply defending alone, they also can use the coating to suddenly expand and creating a strong gust. This is because of the chakra bursting outwards, which can be used to repel some weaker jutsu or using the chakra nature to have an own kind of effect.

2.) If more users are present, at least four, then they can use the jutsu combined. This requires them to take a position where they are surrounding their foe(s) in the center. After each take their position, they need to weave some extra handseals.
(Tiger - Ram - Rat - Monkey - Dragon - Dog - Bird - Horse - Serpent - Boar -Hare- Seal of Confrontation)
Once the handseals are done, the users must focus their jutsu to create a dome of chakra. After this has been done, they can smash the chakra on their foes. The pressure and impact of the jutsu can be enhanced by more people that are capable of using the jutsu

      Weakness:
To create the kanji of the Fox, the person needs to hold the Seal of Confrontation for five seconds as remaining stationary. This means they have only one hand to defend themselves as well that they can't move, unless they want to waste the chakra.

Not to mention that it requires some good teamwork to make the collaboration forms work. Not to mention that it can be easily disrupted if the enemy focus their attention on one or two in the formation. Also to use this jutsu requires some good chakra control as well as focus.

    Birthmarks/Scars

Her Chakra first manifested in a fight for survival. One among several girls kidnapped by a notorious serial killer, she fought off her attacker with an unexpected manifestation of Lightning Release. Unable to control it, she ended up electrocuting them both, though he bore the brunt of the attack. Sui made her escape while he was unconscious; she bears the strange scars of that contact from fingertip to shoulder blade and conceals them under bandages, disliking the physical reminder of a time when she considered herself weak.

    Personality

Despite all she's faced Sui can be incredibly compassionate, especially of the weak and helpless. That is when she is capable of doing so. Due her growing loyalty to the Guardians, she has forsaken some of her old manners. Though some claim that she clings on to her rather sarcastic and cynical manner of speaking to most people. She is extremely boastful and cheerful even in the act of committing evil, so long as she believes she's ridding the world of an evil greater than herself.

    The ends justify the means.

    History

Sui was one of several young girls kidnapped by a notorious serial killer in Konohagakure. Kept together in a dark basement, she avoided being taken to her death by hiding behind the other girls. As their numbers dwindled her shame grew, but still she hid. It wasn't until she was the last one left and was forced to fight back that she realized she could have overcome their captor at any time (in truth, their deaths hardened her, and she wasn't ready to face him before then). Scarred by the ordeal, she ran away from home, becoming the scourge of other runaways on the streets of Konohagakure. Where others mistook her savage attacks for an appetite for violence, the truth was very different: she was using the only problem-solving skill she had to drive them home.

As she grew older and stronger her philosophy shifted from the potential victims of crimes such as the one that had befallen her to the culprits of said crimes. She's a misguided idealist who believes in fighting fire with fire, and isn't above using her good looks and talent as an actress to lure targets in.

Having faced her death at a young age, Sui is incredibly controlled when faced with danger. She prefers to take action and readily experiments with the Lightning Release she discovered a talent for in that dark basement. So far she hasn't been able to reproduce the results that fried her and her kidnapper, but that isn't to say her efforts have been fruitless. Quite by accident she discovered a talent for causing explosions, a discovery that resulted in bad burns and a ruptured eardrum. She was found and cared for by an elderly couple who sent her to the Academy shortly after. She's since determined to hone this ability for use without harming herself.

Joining into the Hon siege, Sui managed to survive the fights as gaining some experience. When things were starting to grow back to normal. This enabled Sui to graduate from the Academy as well being send to the Konohagakure Guardians. Distrustful as feeling lost without a cause to fight and live for, Sui was allowed to find her new 'home' among the Guardians. Over time she has accepted the cause of the Guardians as she became more devoted to the cause the Guardians strive for.

    Name of Weapon or Item:

    Additional:
She also carries a lockpick on her person at all times, as well as explosive tags.

    Skills/Abilities

Sui's chakra control is average. She may not be the most powerful, but her creativity and self-control often combine to interesting effect. She is a tenacious and savage hand-to-hand combatant, relying on closing with an enemy quickly and remaining on top of them for as long as it takes to see them defeated. At range she is less effective, relying (perhaps to her detriment) on close proximity to her enemies to ensure accuracy and quick delivery of her Lightning Releases.

    Lightning Release: Mustang Snap
    Type of Jutsu:
    Ninjutsu
    Rank:
    B
    Range:
    Close ~ Mid range.
    Nature Type:
    Electric
    Handseals:
I-Tori Tora (Half-Boar-Half-Bird Tiger), she makes these signs and then plunges one of her hands (or a few fingers, depending on the size of the source) into the water; adds a snap on the end with the dry hand for the final spark, though it can be completed wet, and this snap seems a matter of style more than an actual release
    Description:
Sui runs an electrical current through a body of water (a glass of something to drink, a fountain, a stream, etc.), causing electrolysis and the splitting of water into both Oxygen and Hydrogen. With small bodies of water this effect is instantaneous, creating a cloud of explosive gas around both her and her target. A second, open spark or flame can ignite this gas, causing an explosion. Larger bodies of water cause greater amounts of gas to be produced, but unless in an enclosed space it dissipates quickly.
    Weakness:
The gas size depends on the amount of chakra being poured into the technique, meaning that she herself is caught in the attack if Sui doesn't watch out. Practical use of this ability is limited in combat against opponents whose natural inclination is to remain at range, or those who can withstand the blast better than herself.

    ====================

    Lightning Release : Electric Tackle
(to be renamed Electric Eel when she learns to prevent damage to herself)
    Type of Jutsu:
    Ninjutsu
    Rank:
    C
    Range:
    Short
    Nature Type:
    Lightning
    Handseals:
    Horse, Boar, Dog, Ox, Dog.
    Description:
After forming the handseals, Sui forms a crackling coat of lightning around her body. This short-lived technique provides protection against lower-ranked Lightning and Fire Jutsu, as well as acting to reduce the damage of projectiles. If she makes physical contact with an enemy while using this technique, the resulting discharge can leave an opponent numb.
    Weakness:
The discharge that results from physical contact cannot distinguish between friend or foe. Sui short-circuits, electrocuting both herself and her opponent. This technique behaves more as a deterent than a true offensive technique, a gamble that she can close and attack with something else before a similarly aggressive opponent.

Primarily, her goal is to use this when fighting within a team, incapacitating both herself and their opponent so her teammates can attack freely. But she remains faithful to the technique, believing that with enough practice and control she can learn to reduce or completely eliminate the damage she takes from it.

    Startling Thunderclap
    Type of Jutsu:
    Ninjutsu
    Rank:

    Range:

    Nature Type:
    Lightning
    Handseals:
Ox, Dog, Bird, Dog and ending with clapping her hands, sending out the ninjutsu
    Description:
Forming the handseals and clapping her hands results in Sui creating a tremendous thunderclap. While not causing any damage, the sudden sound is startlingly loud, drawing attention to her from those who aren't already expecting the technique (thereby giving her teammates time to exploit their target's distraction). At extremely close range this clap can deafen, leaving the enemy vulnerable to being snuck up on by a teammate.
    Weakness:
Another technique that risks affecting friend as well as foe. It also reveals her position, and doesn't lend itself to a stealthy approach.

    Description:

"Our snow is dyed red upon the pure white."

    • Name: Yuki

      Location:
At the outskirts of the Hidden Frost Village, a small compound.

      Traits
*Members of the Yuki clan are quite resistant to cold weather*
*White hair is characteristic of a portion of the Yuki*
*Most Yuki have a talent in silent killing and ninjutsu*
*Many members have been known to have artistic talents such as sculpting, writing and even singing or playing instruments*
*By releasing chakra, members of the clan can make their surroundings colder, even to the point that it would start snowing*

    • The Yuki clan hadn't always been quite secluded from the rest of the world as it is now. At one point, they used to be very close to both their neighbouring Hidden Frost Village and the Hidden Cloud. They would write poems for funerals, make decorations out of ice for weddings, paint for their halls and sing for their feasts. However, this started to change at the point where they began producing more and more shinobi. Before such a time, most of Yuki's fighters and assassins were purely committed to the clan, but when they started to share their talents with the Cloud, some opposed. Fights broke out among them, making the clan quite unstable. When the internal problems started to grow, some still nameless nation sent a spy to the compound to agitate both sides as one of their own. With a little help from the nearby Frost Village that had little to gain from their current existence, the clan's compound was dyed red. The compound is currently ruined and empty. It is unknown currently whether or not the Yuki still survive as a clan, but several bodies of the clan's members hadn't been found in the ruins.

      Information N/A

    • There were hardly any traditions that defined the Yuki clan as a separate group. There was no Rite of Passage among the clan itself, nor were there any days they mourned or celebrated for.

Name of Technique: Ice Release: Consuming Darkness
      Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu
      Rank: B
      Range: Medium
      Nature Type: Ice Release
      Handseals: Bird-Monkey-Dog-Special Handseal
Description: Consuming Darkness allows bodies of water or even land (though it would be much thinner as a layer, being only several decimeters long) to be frozen through contact with the technique’s user’s chakra. This is quite useful as the new terrain allows both certain Ice Release techniques to be used with less difficulty and consumption of chakra and the user to fight on a texture most people aren’t used to.
Weakness: It can both be melted by fire techniques and can be used for water techniques, though the latter wouldn’t be as effective as it would be on regular water bodies.

      ====================

Name of Technique: Ice Release: Sprouting Senbon
      Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu, Shurikenjutsu
      Rank: D
      Range: Self
      Nature Type: Ice Release
      Handseals: Serpent
Description: The user molds the ice chakra to create senbon formed by ice. It can be used as makeshift lockpicks but it’s easy to break. What makes it versatile is that when it impacts, the senbon freezes over the area around it, making it somewhat numb.
Weakness: It’s weak enough that wind, fire and earth techniques can render the senbon useless quickly, shattering or melting it..

      ====================

Name of Technique: Ice Release: Hiding in the Snow
      Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu
      Rank: C
      Range: Long
      Nature Type: Ice Release
      Handseals: Dog-Rat-Monkey-Bird
Description: Hiding in the Snow is a technique similar to Hiding in the Mist. It casts up a strong storm of snow that keeps rotating in the same area repeatedly. The area gets colder and more material becomes present for ice release techniques to be used, as well as making it ‘biting cold’ for anyone who isn’t prepared for the harsh temperature brought by the technique. Fire techniques used inside are slightly weaker than usual.
Weakness: Not only is the amount of snow limited, but it’s also much easier to melt than it is to replace, so fire techniques are ideal to get rid of the disadvantage created by the technique.

      ====================

Name of Technique: Ice Release: Growing Thorns
      Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu
      Rank: B
      Range: Large
      Nature Type: Ice Release
      Handseals: 12 custom handseals
Description: From any body of water or ice, the user can form pikes of ice that grow as long as the user keeps using the technique. Although this doesn’t require much attention, the spikes don’t need to be precisely shaped in order to have sharp edges.
Weakness: The user of the technique must be in contact with the body of water or ice in order to use this technique.

      ====================

Name of Technique: Ice Release: Frost Dragon
      Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu
      Rank: A
      Range: Medium
      Nature Type: Ice Release
      Handseals: Boar-Bird-Monkey
Description: From any body of water or ice, the user can form a long bodied dragon form that can be controlled via chakra transmission use. The dragon has a thick body that can curve and move around rapidly.
Weakness: It’s quite vulnerable to quick attacks that can damage the ice.

      ====================

Name of Technique: Reflecting Ice: Snowstorm
      Type of Jutsu: Genjutsu, Hiden
      Rank: A
      Range: Medium
      Nature Type: Ice Release
      Handseals: Monkey-Dog-Rat-Tiger-Special Handsignal
Description: The technique casts up a snowstorm in a 20 meter radius that blocks long sight. When the snow starts falling, the floor slowly turns into a non-slippery ice that reflects what’s going on above exactly as it is. When the target sees himself or herself in the mirror, the genjutsu starts working. The snow lingers on for about 5 minutes. The genjutsu numbs and bends the senses of the victim. It makes the victim’s heat and cold feelings much stronger, gives a constant wind sound to the ear even when the snow is over, and turns the view upside down forcefully, giving people hardly any time for adjustment.
Weakness: Though it’s a lingering technique, it can be easily noticed as a genjutsu to be dispelled.

      ====================

Name of Technique: Black Ice: Key to Hidden Wisdom
Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu, Hiden, Fighting Style
      Rank: A
      Range: Immediate vicinity
      Nature Type: Ice Release
Description: The technique allows the formation of black ice instead of white ice. There's hardly any observable difference between the two, making many to question its purpose.

  13. Name: Kozumari

    Crest:

    Location
    Water Country

    Village
    Kirigakure

    Traits
Often raising male members to excel in the art of kenjutsu and the females as possible future candidates for medical-nin, those who seek both would make sense to possibly train harder as assassins if they so wished, seeking the proper training.

The clan consists of two branches, The main branch focuses it's efforts in the stability of the clan and training most of their males in the art of kenjutsu, swordsmanship. The lesser branch handles the training of most of their females and relations/diplomatics outside of the clan.

Members are often born with Wind or Water chakra natures, eventually growing to learn both if possible in honor of their clan and of their village as Shinobi/Kunoichi of the Mist. Another unique trait for the clan is their appearance. Although it is not an official "identification" factor for the clan, there has been a small number of offspring born with silver-white hair, a possibly growing dominant trait in the bloodline.

A general list to summarize full traits:
    -Good swordsmen
    -Medical knowledge; Training Medical-nin
    -Possible assassins
-Discipline, Honor and Loyalty back their motives
    -'Carries pride, not elitism'
-Silver hair an unofficially growing identification

    History
Relatively young for a clan, only three generations old now, the Kozumari grew large enough to start out as a small clan within Kirigakure, setting a standard for themselves for training ninja in the ways of the sword and the medical knowledge they strove to improve on. Having fully brought itself into reality during the start of the second Mizukage's reign, they offered support in the background to rebuilding and strengthening the village. During the Third and Fourth Mizukage's rise and falls to power, the Kozumari was one of few that was against their actions, leading to the deaths of most of the first generation and some of the second generation as a result. As it stands now, they support the current Mizukage and not the growing rebellion.

    Notable Members
Mabashi Kozumari - Current Clan Leader (NPC)
Kisane Kozumari - Wife to Mabashi, Mother to Shinji and Taki (NPC - Deceased)
Shinji Kozumari - Heir to the Clan (NPC - Deceased)
    Takumi 'Taki' Kozumari - Genin
    ???
    ???

    Techniques
They have not given themselves a particularly unique jutsu, but they pride themselves in the training of their Kenjutsu and medical knowledge.

    Traditions
-Not having much to count for traditions as of yet, a sort of budding tradition for members that hold promise for the future of the clan is that they are given a tattoo of a kanji symbol often having meaning towards all things winter.
-The Clan holds possession of a twin ('fraternal') set of black-steel blades; A Wakizashi - Bankudo and a Katana - Zaikudo, brothers to each blade. These blades are given to whomever the current Clan Leader sees fit, in which currently they have been given to Mabashi's offspring. Zaikudo was first given to Shinji until his untimely demise, in which its retrieval then was given to Takumi. Bankudo, in past events, has vanished.
-Among other forms of attire, the clan crest is often worn on the back of white haori's. Most who wear them prefer them to be sleeveless.

    Relations with other clans/organizations
    -Currently Unknown-

    Personality:
Ayano is a sweet and friendly girl, most of the time as she can have her foul mood like everybody else. She is the typical caring person who tries to do small things for those who she cares for. She is however quick with noticing small details and often seems to understand situations fast by observing it from the background. Furthermore Ayano is a person that doesn't seem to judge another very quickly, but can be prideful and stubborn on her worst days. Ayano also seems to have some interest in poking dead bodies, what could be one of her 'bad' habits.

    History:
Ayano had a pretty okay childhood. Her parents were having both fine jobs that could support the family. Her father was the owner of a carpenter shop and her mother was being a medical kunoichi. Ayano grew up as a bright child that however wasn't sure what she wanted to become when she was grown up.

At the age of three however Ayano lost her mother. Her mother had been stationed at an outpost. A few months later both Ayano as her father gained the letter that her mother had perished into an ambush. This caused Ayano's father to go into a depression. One that eventually made him lose his will to continue. The carpenter shop was shut down and if it weren't for an uncle and aunt that took in the two, then she would've likely had to live on the street or an orphanage.

While Ayano grew up safe and in a caring environment, she somewhere felt bad for her father. While he managed to get his life a bit on track again, he never truly recovered from his loss. Due this Ayano desired to become a medic like her mother she also wanted to show her father that he could be proud on her. This stayed her goal until she was training for the Chuunin Exams. Shortly after that, her father perished away. While it was a big loss for Ayano, she continued to work hard as she wanted to do some honor to his memory. For that reason Ayano became a hard working kunoichi. Eventually she managed to reach the chuunin rank just before the Occupation of Shoji. Siding with the rebels under Hiron Hon's leadership, she worked as medical nin at the rebel's HQ.

After the Occupation, Ayano kept working hard and managed to get a side-job at the hospital. Furthering her knowledge, she managed to develop two medical ninjutsu which gained her some praise from her mentors. With eventually her good record and progress, she was promoted to become specialized jounin at the age of 18 years old. She used to work for some time at the Konohagakure Hospital and now and then at the Intelligence Division. Lately however she's involved into a cell of a specialized team that operates while she is the relay of the higher ups.

    Range:

    Handseals:
Boar, Bird, Horse, Bird, Tiger, Rat, Ram, Clap hands together.
    Description:
After clapping her hands together, Ayano slowly spread her hands as her chakra starts to form a light green colored sphere between her palms. The sphere can either be used to pull out poison and slowly drain it out of the body. Or it can be used to close a wound.
    Weakness:
The technique can't restore wounds completely if they are large. It either pulls out toxic material out of a wound or closes a wound. It however doesn't pull spread out poison, meaning that it needs to be applied as soon as possible or else it will be only useful to close a wound.

    Type of Jutsu:

    Description:
After weaving the required handsignals, Ayano moulds chakra at her hands that will be insert into the target. The chakra starts to speed up the process of the wounds, both external as internal. Though it seems to be similar like the Mystical palm, this technique is a bit more advanced. It starts to sooth the body as it will drive away pain and thus allows one to also regain some stamina during the healing treatment.
    Weakness:
While it is a great supportive technique, Ayano can't regain stamina when she applies the technique on herself. It also takes a great amount of focus, meaning that it is almost impossible to apply the technique in mid-combat.

    Detailed Information

    Personality:
Haruka is a calm and friendly person. Though she can sometimes act snobbish - which can be 'blamed' on her uprising and origin - Haruka is, in general, a person that isn't talkative in surrounding that she isn't familiar with. While having a certain air at times, Haruka is at most times polite and respectful to most - though she has her bad days like every person. Even though she had been raised to become the 'successor' of her father, Haruka is more adventurous than her siblings. Smart and intelligent, she capable of delivering mean snarky comments and able to read people to some decent extent.

    History:
Born and raised in the capital city of the River Province, Haruka's childhood was what one can expect from a daughter of a rich lord. Her family is the old family that has reigned over the land when it had been a country but had always great ties with the Fire country. Mainly because the latter often provided military aid against the Wind country. Haruka has been educated in learning how to write and read - something she absolutely loves to do in her spare time. Ever since she was young, Haruka had the dream to travel around the world. Discovering the wonders she had read about in person, instead of just imaging it after reading about it.

But because she was the eldest child, Haruka was groomed to succeed her father. While Haruka knew all too well that it wouldn't allow her to travel around as she wanted, she didn't fight against her 'destiny'. Instead, she saw a sense of duty that she had to follow and uphold. Cause if she could become a decent ruler, then at least her siblings were freer to follow a path that they favoured.

There would, however, be a time of change dawning on the country and affecting the course of Haruka's life. First, the River country entered the Fire Union. This provided more security in both an economical as military sense. The Tamiyo family saw only good coming from the Fire Union. It made the pressure on Haruka less as would be some administrative as other aid coming from the Fire Union. This gave the girl some hope that she could at least travel around the regions that had joined the Union. Studying the arts of diplomacy and politics, Haruka's wish would become more reality as the Fire Union was reformed into the Akinian Empire. With the situation that the Tamiyo family would stop function as a daimyo family, they were still requested to govern the River province. Though it diminished their influence and power, the family wouldn't object. The prosperity and peace that the Fire Union brought made them doubt the new changes less. A governor would now be elected by the ruler of the Empire, meaning that Haruka could start to study and work to become something else than the next governor of the River province.

Her wish to travel was further motivated by a certain event. A cult of Jashin started to become troublesome, spreading the rumour that they would obtain immortality with sacrificing a pure blood and innocent Tamiyo. This made the Tamiyo family request a shinobi of Haruka's age as some more guards. The shinobi that was send was Koike Hon and though the start between Haruka and Koike was rocky, there was something blooming between the two. Even though Haruka was eventually getting kidnapped, she was rescued by the efforts of Koike, Katsu, Masami, Shikaroku and Hayate. A success is what the mission originally was, but it was bittersweet. The two - Haruka and Koike - couldn't stay together or start anything. Even though with the Imperial reformation, there was a difference in culture - one that Haruka's parents didn't condone at the time. Leaving her necklace with Koike, the two parted their ways.

After parting with her temporary guardian, Haruka continued her studies. Instead of, however, she chose to become educated as a diplomat and ambassador - with also starting to begin some training in self-defense. Keeping her dream of travelling around, Haruka held the hope up to be reunited one day with that person that got stuck in her head. With making her own decisions, who know what her next decision(s) are going to be like?

    History:
Hajime was born into a warm and comfy house. Her parents always gave her everything she wanted, with her father being a proud Konohagakure jounin who retired after she was born and focused on helping to raise her. Her parents gave freedom to choose what she wanted to do when she grew up. She eventually chose to follow her father's footsteps and become a shinobi, and at the age of 9 she went to the academy to begin her shinobi training.

After graduating and spending three years in a team, she managed to pass the Chuunin exams and begun focusing on getting an expertise in a certain field. After attempting to find her expertise in Barrier and Water ninjutsu, she found that she had skill with knowledge extraction with the help of a good friend of her father who was in the Interrogation division. He begun training her and once she was 17 he had the division give her a proper test and once she passed, she was inlisted into the interrogation division and has been under training and learning how the division works for the past 2 and a half years, to be able to be a very good interrogator in the division, as being underneath is unacceptable.

  16. "Silence is gold,
Information is often more worth than gold."

    Name :
    The Zero Team(s)

    Crest :
    None.

    Location
The Organization doesn't have a headquarters. One could pressume (if knowing that they even exist) is that it could be the Intelligence Division HQ or some other high secured location within Konohagakure.

    Village
    Konohagakure/Empire of Akino.

    Traits
    * Highly drilled into acting as they are needed to lie and pretend that they are somebody who they aren't.
    * Good intellect and knowing details, history and other vital information about the location they are infiltrating.
    * Often good in reading people as their training is more focused on getting information in any kind of way, that is possible.
    * Having a hidden cursed mark that can't be changed by the Faceless technique. The cursed mark is hidden away underneath the skin at the back of a member.

    History
The history of the Zero teams is more shrouded than the classified information of the ANBU. Unlike their ANBU-counterparts, the Zero Team members don't operate just only for the Hokage. They serve the interest of the (now Empire of Akino) Leaf and thus can be ordered by higher ups instead of a single one. There hasn't been much recorded history about the Zero Teams and due the fact that not a lot of people even know that they exist leads to speculations that they have been a spy organization for a long time.

It is unsure what kind of impact the information provided by the Zero Teams had on certain events, but it is clear that they have managed to keep operating under quite some secrecy.

    Members
It is hard to tell who is a member of the Zero Team or even an ex member. With the two techniques the members of the Zero Team have often managed to trick those who would wish to hunt them down or when they want to vanish.

Those who have been revealed IC-wise are :

    Saki Yamanaka : Ex member.

    Techniques
All the members are being drilled into knowing these two techniques. They are non-combat techniques as it is safe to assume that not every Zero-Team member is qualified for combat situations. They are spies and gather intel, not every single one of them is a highly trained assassin that could whim you out with his/her toenails.

Name of Technique: Secret Art: Faceless
    Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu, Hiden
    Rank: B
    Range: Self
    Nature Type: N/A
Handseals: 4, ending in snake - When mastered completely, none
Description: This is a technique that was by a Zero Team member, though it’s unknown when he did it as his real face isn’t definitively known either. It’s an advanced form of the Transformation Technique that allows the user to take any human form for extended amounts of time without needing focus to maintain it. With each use, the chakra system’s color and signature changes, making it unrecognizable to sensors and sharingan/byakugan users, as it changes the user’s physiology completely.
These days it is a technique that most, if not all, members of the organization use.
Weakness: This technique can be overridden, but it can’t be undone.

    ====================

Name of Technique: Secret Art: Fake Double
    Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu, Hiden
    Rank: C
    Range: Contact
    Nature Type: N/A
Handseals: 6, the first four the same as ‘Faceless’ and the last two rat and tiger - When mastered completely, none
Description: This technique is derived from the ‘Faceless’ technique, so one most have some mastery over that technique first to learn this one, but Fake Double is much easier to master. It allows the user to change another person’s physiology like they can do to themselves. It has been used by many Zero Team members to fake their aliases deaths.
Weakness: It can’t be used on beings with chakra in them.

    Traditions
None known so far. Other than that an ex-member often has troubles with moving back into a life of their own after a service where they were multiple personalities. This can causes stress and often panic attacks, not to say that it either often triggers a Zero member to hurry back to their previous occupation or having to deal with the PST that can come in all forms. Often depending on the ex-member.

    Relations with other clans/organizations
Sometimes the Zero Teams work with the ANBU or even members of the regular military. They however never tell anything more than needed and most often come over a bit shady or strange towards the other branches of the Imperial military.

  17. Sanosuke Clan

    "Iron from Fire."

    • Name :
      Sanosuke clan
      Village
      Kumogakure
      Estate/Compound
The majority of the clan lives in the compound in Kumogakure. There are some families who live in the Sky and Frost country.

      Traits
      * Capable craftsmen, often skilled smiths, artisans and regarded as a creative folk.
      * Most have an affinity towards either Earth or Fire Release,
      * It is assumed to be a trait of theirs, but it isn't really a trait, but many suspect that a lot of Sansouke have red hair.

      Allied clans
      N/A

    • Promiment historical members :

      Founder of the clan :
Yoshiaki Sanosuke (義明): meaning "clearly/evidently correct."

Renowned hero in the legends of the Sanosuke clan and revered ancestor :
      Tsutomu (努): meaning "worker."

      Fourth Raikage :
Jinyaru Sanosuke, the Chef. (deceased, in the year 475)

Jounin commander during Jinyaru - Takeru's reign :
Waki Sanosuke, the Monkey Sage. (deceased, in the year 476)

Raikage Assistant during Jinyaru - Takeru's reign :
Asami Sanosuke, the Red Devil. (A half Sanosuke)

    • The Sanosuke clan didn't really start off spectuliar. The start was a small family in a village up in the north of the Lightning country. In due time the clan started to grow as the Sanosuke family managed to gain some land and influence due marriage and inheritance. Eventually they started to invest into building and running mines in the more mountainous regions of the country. This allowed the Sansouke clan to become quite rich and which they used to soldify their positions up in the northern regions of the country.

At the time that the Hidden Cloud was founded, the Sanosuke clan had managed to establish a treaty that they would supply the village with craftsmen. Though at first the clan had no interest in joining the village as they only saw it as a valuable customer, the clan started to shift their seat to a given compound in the ever growing hub that we know as Kumogakure today.

With the start of the Great War, the Sanosuke clan didn't join in with shinobi as one would expect from clans. They offered engineers and other valuable workers to support the military. Though the clan started to militarize, focusing more on crafting weapons and tools for war, but also started to train their own clansmen into becoming capable shinobi to join the frontlines. This earned the clan some praise, but because of a lack of interest in politics the clan remained more at the background.

They only had a brief period where the Sanosuke clan had managed to become the most dominant clan in Kumogakure. This was with Jinyaru Sanosuke as the Fourth Raikage, appointing Waki Sanosuke as his jounin commander due his achievements as commendable general during the Great War as his niece Asami Sanosuke, a capable young ANBU captain to become his assistant.

This period of dominance didn't last long however. With the brief time of the 'Shoji Occupation' the Sanosuke clan took a hard blow. They had lost more than one hundred young men due the cruel punishments that were deal out due Jinyaru protecting Midori Sato, who had grown rampant with the Hachibi in a chakra cloak version 2 state. Under the leadership of Asami Sanosuke and her rebels, they managed to fight off the occupation and liberate Kumogakure.

However with the liberation the Sanosuke's brief reign over Kumogakure came to a crashing end. Jinyaru was poisoned and ended up in a coma due some work of a Metsuke, shortly dying afterwards. Waki Sanosuke found his end two years at the end of an unknown assassin and now only Asami remains in the higher ups, though she is only half a Sanosuke.

    • The Sanosuke clan knows several traditions, but remain more pragmatic. They value certain virtues, such as honor, but tend to focus more on what seems benificial than following some rules they think should be followed. It is also safe to assume that the clan isn't a real pre-shinobi clan. The majority are by heart craftsmen, miners and engineers. Only a small part of the clan provides Kumogakure with shinobi.

      * The Clan doesn't have an official rite of age. They value a person of becoming adult at the age of 18.
      * To prove one's worth to the clan, the person must show their talent. Most try to smith or create a great piece of art or weapon. Those who dabble in non-crafting often try to show their worth with achieving a position or achieving a deed that is worthy of praise.
      * Though old, the old Sanosuke used to be holding raid parties to raid the Bird and Vegetable country as their ancestral lands weren't that fertile.

    • Though there aren't big differences to the general culture, the Sanosuke tend to keep valuing pragmatisme above everything else. Though they still hold some old traditions high in honor. These date back to a long time ago and while some might call them barbaric, most of the Sanosuke clans view them as still reasonable to use in these more modern period.

      Blood Fight

It isn't uncommon that there are old feuds between families. To make sure that these feuds don't divide and rip the Sanosuke clan apart, there is a rite of Blood Fight. Two appointed from each side are needed to be armed with an axe and shield. Then they are ought to fight it out without the use of any ninjutsu on a large blanket. Who ever draws first blood wins and the feud will be over. It isn't used that much more in Kumogakure, but in the north of the country, the more conservative and traditional part of the clan still clings to this rite.

      Blót

One of the oldest traditions of the Sanosuke clan. Following the saying that a harsh environment shapes a hard culture is seen back in this tradition of the Sanosuke clan. While it is rarely ever practiced anymore, the Blót traditions is regarding about sacrifice. A sacrifice where a small group is being send away from the clan in hope to find another ground where they can prosper.

      Runes

While the Sanosuke clan read an writes in the common language, an older section of the clan still upholds the tradition of runes. In old belief the Sanosuke clan were convinced that each rune had its own magical power, which eventually started that the clan to also use it for their own code language as barely any outsider from the clan understand the rune inscriptions of the clan.

      Rite of Age

In the older times of the clan, the Rite of Age was pretty 'simple'. A boy could only become a man by defeating and killing an enemy of the clan. A girl used to have it easier, by the 'first time she bleeds' she would be regarded as a women. With the more modern times, the Rite of age has slightly changed somewhat. Because the Sanosuke clan isn't performing any raids anymore, they have formed the rites to be more 'peaceful'. Instead there are other ways to be regarded as an adult:

      - Wedding, as only adults are regarded to be married.
      - Becoming a chuunin
      - Able to form a capable work of art after being apprentice for years.

  18. Orochi Clan Sheet
    Show Spoiler

    Name : Orochi

    Crest :

    Location
In a compound near the harbor of the Hidden Mist, where the snakes of the Orochi listen into many of the conversations in the harbor.

    Village
    Hidden Mist Village

    Traits
All members born to this clan are born with a high taxing dojutsu, which must be sealed when they are born, making them become blind. There are many who marry into the clan who do no have this. The dojutsu as a trait is extremely dominating among those born into the clan.

All members are taught to rely on other senses, giving them a wide variety of sensing techniques naturally which they have to use just to get around the house. Most members have sensitive hearing as a result.

Many of the members of the clan tend to be cynical, and depressed about what could have been with their abilities in the past.

As a whole, they are extremely proud, and dislike being looked down on.

    History

A prominent sealing clan in the Mist, the Orochi clan was never afraid of conflict, and had a penchant for choicing the winning side in a conflict, always placing themselves on whatever battlefield they believed would win.

The Orochi clan was led by 8 heads, who inturn controlled part of the clan, and the only thing they could agree on was winning glory in battle. Only in times of war was the clan peaceful towards eachother, and even then, each branch head wanted to outdo the other branches.

They have historically bragged about their abilities, and always went seeking to prove themselves as valuable to the Mizukage. During the hieght of the war with the Leaf during the 2nd kages's reign, the Orochi clan continued to brag of it's successes, until the Leaf started to beat them back. Desperate from being on the losing side, the Orochi clan meditated what to do. The Hyuga, the uchiha, the Moto, and at times the allied Nimatsu all were big hinderences who could see through their seals and their surprises, and all these clans had something in common, a dojutsu. Nobody hated the dojutsus of the Leaf more than the Orochi clan, and that hatred turned to envy. One clan especially they hated, the Uchiha.

The Orochi clan decided it was not going to let the Leaf flaunt itself in any aspect, that the Mist would crush the Leaf in every single aspect. Without consulting with the Mizukage, they took a drastic step. They would create their own dojutsu, more powerful than the Leafs'.

Researching how to do this, one of the largest Heads, led by a man named Hebi, schemed how to get it, and at the same time usurp total control over the broken clan. He proposed a way to take the chakra from every member of the clan, and condense it into their eyes, changing their chakra system, and forcing their eyes to adapt and change, to use much more chakra than normal, to creat a Dojutsu, one capable of paralyzing on sight. He promised this to each clan head if they would just have all the branches of the Orochi clan join their chakra together for one moment, he would bless the clan with this power.

Hebi, however, was a snake, and left out some very crucial details. He planned on using ALL of the chakra of the other heads of the clan, and many of it's members to have enough chakra to effect only a small few, to sacrifice them to gain great power among those that survived.. He promised them great power, and he succeeded beyond his imagination. The dojutsu created in the eyes of the survivors of his ritual all had great power, too great for them to control. Half the clan died from chakra overusage that first day, including the man who had schemed it all, Hebi. The snake of eight heads had eaten itself, not one of the eight heads was left, and all survivors, no matter what branch, were forced to assimilate.

In desperation and fear, the surviving members of the clan sealed away their eyes, hoping that future generations of the Orochi clan would make up for their folly. However, the loss of life among the clan did not stop. They soon found their children to be afflicted with their curse as well, many babies dying before they could figure out to seal their eyes as well.

The Mizukage was furious about the loss of one his strongest families, anyone alive was now completely worthless, and couldn't be counted on in the war.

The only thing that saved the surviving members of the Orochi clan from being massacred was the well timed signing of the treaty with the Leaf, which drew away attention from them. Still, the Mizukage did not forget completely, and a few years later, sent several ninja to kill all ninja close to Hebi, all the ones in his branch. The entire branch was massacred, leaving remenants of the other seven who would be looked at as worthless and traitorous for the next few decades.

The clan was a fraction of it's former size, and it took many years for it to once again to be called a clan. The clan did not die out though, and adapted. They found ways around their blindness, most members becoming adapt at Silent Killing. They learned how to compensate for their blindness, and in recent years began to rise again in the Mist as a formidable clan.

    Techniques

Name of Kekkei Genkai: Eyes of the Gorgon
    [IMG]
Description: A failed Dojutsu, crafted by, and still cursing the members of the Orochi clan. The dojutsu paralyzes those that meet its gaze with a powerful genjutsu, but consumed more chakra than any member of the clan could manage, so all members of the clan have their eyes sealed away, creating a clan full of blind shinobi. Riku currently has a limit of only 5 seconds having it disrupted before it completely drains him of chakra. The record is 1 minute. Reckless use can easily kill the bearer

Enhanced Hearing- Members of this clan use hearing instead of sight to 'see' the area infront of them their echolocation technique. This allows them to click their tongue and listen for echoes to get an image of the shape of things around them. It's a singular direction.
Silent Killing Technique- Members of this clan already have enhanced hearing, using it to great advantage in a fight.

    Traditions
    Clan Branches-
At one point, the Orochi clan was divided into 8 clan branches, each branch was led by a clan head. The strongest of these was the Hebi Branch. The branches were murderous to eachother, and had a pedigree mentality about them. However, the clan was humbled by their fall from grace, and the 7 remaining branches merged together, and laxed any rules on marriage. The members of the clan still keep a family line, but no longer are exclusively one branch. The eight branches are:
    * Hebi
    * Mamushi (Viper)
    * Garagarahebi (rattlesnake)
    * Kobura (Cobra)
    * Paison (Python)
    * Umihebi (Sea Snake)
    * Manba (Mamba)
    * Kassōhebi(Glding snake)

    Games-
Members of this clan play games together often to try and train their senses, as a fun gathering. They gather every weekend to do this. However, despite being a 'fun' event, as per normal with the clan, they take this very seriously. They often invite outsiders to compete in them, as it gives them a chance to show being blind is hardly a handicap.

The most popular game is referred to as Hidden Snakes. It is a combination of tag and hide and go seek. The members of the game quickly disappear at the start of the game, and must find the other members. Touching other members, or tagging them with an object get them out. They cannot injure eachother. Members cannot stay in the same place for more than 30 seconds. Last member standing wins. It takes stealth and speed to win. Kushinada is known as queen of the game, though she generally sits out.

    Relations with other clans/organizations
    Rival clan with:
The Ina Clan- Having a long history with the Ina clan, the Orochi clan constantly ses them as a hinderance, due to them starting out at similiar sizes. It was always said if an Orochi was to be at 100 ninja, and lose to an Ina, they were not an Orochi. At the Orochi's clans weakest, the Ina clan were smug at their nemesis's fall, but now the clan is rising again, it is the Orochi clan smug at the position the Ina clan is now in.
