EXERCISE Myth-take Challenge #28

Discussion in 'REFINING WRITING' started by Lstorm, Jun 9, 2013.

  1. Myths and legends could be said to be the prototypes of modern novels. They are stories in their own right, tales that were passed on for generations. Even today, some elements from the old myths remain in our stories and occasionally, they serve as inspiration.

This week’s mythical element is: The Holy Grail
In the Arthurian Legend, the Holy Grail is an object of stellar importance, which is often confused and mixed with the Holy Chalice. It is generally agreed, though, that the Holy Grail has both Christian and Celtic origins, and it is impossible to say what it was inspired by. Sometimes, the Holy Grail is attributed with special properties, though originally, it is but a reward for the greatest knight who ever existed, an item sought after only because of its symbolic value.
Your challenge is to write a story that incorporates your own take on this mythical element. The genre and setting of the story does not matter as long as the element remains recognisable.
