Myths and legends could be said to be the prototypes of modern novels. They are stories in their own right, tales that were passed on for generations. Even today, some elements from the old myths remain in our stories and occasionally, they serve as inspiration.

This week’s mythical element is: The String of Fate

Mostly present in Greek Mythology, the String of Fate is a string continously woven by the Moira, the goddesses who govern Fate, and thus what happens in the world. Although in the case of Greeks, one was doomed to live their own Fate and even the gods themselves were helpless against what was decided by the Moira, over time, the String of Fate gained softer connotations. In modern urban legends and folklore, this string is often known as the Red String of Fate, and is a string which connects lovers. However, there are also many other plausible interpretations of this String and its purpose.
Your challenge is to write a story that incorporates your own take on this mythical element. The genre and setting of the story does not matter as long as the element remains recognisable.
