My Life as a Kdrama

It was just a chat program like any other. So how did she end up with the heir of company X suddenly declaring his hunt for her? It is kind of exciting, however, he is looking for her who is so close by. How clueless! That until…

Premise
Always in demand and popular are the romantic comedies. They include an innocent girl with a fierce personality, usually from a poor background and a selection of handsome boys that all fall for her. One male is the lucky one, the one she will fall for. In a historic setting that boy would be a prince. In a modern setting he would be the heir of an extremely successful and big company. Of course it isn't complete with a set of rivals, a beautiful and equally as rich girl comes in the picture, elegant, but arrogant, and a much better match than the innocent doe and a the nice charmer that becomes our mains best friend. Throw in the cliches, obligatory hospital scene, some tears, dramatic break up and back together again, the evil mother-in-law and we are complete. Tie in a happy ending and the fans are sold.

Love messenger is one of the many romantic comedies that are hyped and set to release. With its star studded cast confirmed many fans are anticipating its debut on television and the press are trying to get a glimpse of the first scenes of the undoubtedly popular series.

However, behind the screens much more is happening. Between the cliche lines and the overdone tropes the staff have their own lives and schedules. Some wear a glazed mask while others are just discovering this new unknown world for themselves. Will they manage to find a happy ending like their beloved series does?
Characters
Lead Actress - a totally doe eyed and innocent looking idol turned actress. Through her much beloved 'innocent' image as an idol she has been chosen to take up the role of the clueless girl that wins the boy. This isn't the first time she gotten this part, but there is still a lot at stake. She apparently didn't do too well in her last project, leading to harsh criticism. However, the company is willing/pushing her into another chance. After all, she has the perfect image, right?

Lead Actor - a sexy bad boy that has many hearts beat faster. He is a veteran within his field, having played the role of the stoic heir that falls for innocence many times. Some accuse him of being type-casted, or that he can't play any other role besides from the rich heir whose heart turned into ice. Perhaps this time he can show them otherwise? [Claimed by FieryCold]

Second Lead Actor - a model turned actor with a prince-like charm to him and a stunning smile. The one everyone would want as a big brother. He has had some experience in the filming industry, but hasn't managed much beyond the role of the second lead that always misses out by a hair. It doesn't matter, however, many fangirls still sympathise with him, loving him even if he goes bad. [Claimed by xLarius]

Second Lead Actress - if one role requires thick skin it is the second female lead. This poor girl often has to act as the evil counterpart of innocent. Charming, alluring, seductive and graceful but at the same time manipulative, cunning and very, very shrewd. Her ultimate goal is to stir up the relationship of the lead and be hated by the audience. Good thing she can make up her act through her public image. [Claimed by ScarletNova]

Clueless Scriptwriter - an avid fan of rom coms and finally allowed to write out their own and see it brought to life! What a chance, what an experience. The scriptwriter certainly hit the jackpot with the incredible cast that was cast for their story, but now comes the real problem. Will they be able to bring a story to the table that will catch the attention of the audience? [Claimed by Nemopedia]

Jaded Director - all these series were similar to each other. Clueless girl got involved with hot shot, insert the drama and a hospital. The director has seen it all and is growing bored of them. However, it brings in money and with the cast this series was sure to attract many viewers. If only the story wasn't so bland. [Claimed by darkflames13]

Role: Lead Actress

Name: Nari Gi-Jhang
Gender: Female
Age: 23

Personality

She was the kind, sweet voiced bleeding heart that had everyone around her dropping to their knees in hopes to win her attention. Nari learned young that human life was precious and put far too much emphasis on impressing others around her. So much so that rather than focusing on improving based on fair criticism she often acted like a mirror. Nari worries so much about the opinions of others she tries to reflect what they want rather than what she needs to be. She's a thin-skinned beauty who, often, cannot handle criticism. "Heart on the sleeve" is probably the single best way to describe how Nari interacts with her fans, friends and colleagues. She holds nothing back, good or bad. This often leads to her own personality leaking into her roles, and vice-versa.

Biography
Born on March 21st to a pair of loving, coddling parents. Nari Gi-Jhang came into the world with high expectations, as her father Jin-Sun had been a famous producer in the musical world. Her mother Yumi had starred in several famous shows and a couple of flopped movies. Her upbringing was smooth as suede, growing up as a quiet and shy child who never disobeyed orders and did incredibly well in school as far as grades had been concerned. Her father started early with vocal lessons, having access to the industry-leaders at his disposable certainly gave Nari a better start in the field chosen for her. She pushed herself to the brink of her abilities, working and practicing at all hours of the day. Her grades began to slip and her sleep schedule aided in her ultimate failure. As Nari entered high-school there had been rumors and talks that she was close to signing with her father's record company. With grades plummeting and tensions growing it wasn't long before the camel's back had broken.

It didn't take too much longer as complications between Jin-Sun and Yumi arose over the disciplining of their child. Jin-Sun pushed too hard, strict and angry when Nari would fail to live up to his impossibly imposed standards. This caused Yumi to become a bear protecting her cub, and their arguing only made things worse for Nari. Her father made it abundantly clear less than perfect was unacceptable and when she inevitably failed to seal the record deal, her father lost his mentality and smacked her. The divorce soon followed and Nari had chosen to live with Yumi rather than Jin-Sun, based on principality. Her mother was able to pull a few strings and landed Nari a one-off album deal with a company competing with Jin-Sun and his company. Nari took off, sailing high as a young Idol. Her album sold well, and the fame was quick to come.

Her career was short lived, as the stress involved with the lifestyle sent her mother into a craze, barring Nari from attending her shows and from producing any new music. She was devastated, of course, but her mother was manipulative and knew that her child's weakness was being to kind and forthcoming. It took a few years, but after graduating with a double degree in musical production and drama Nari was shoved directly into the world of cut-throat acting. Her mother had lined up an audition for a RomCom that went somewhat well though in the long run the show was inevitably cancelled and critics wasted no time destroying Nari for her on-screen performances. She would have one more chance, and reluctantly she agreed to the new show. Only for her mother. Would she succeed this time or would everything go down in disgrace and flames?

The Clueless Scriptwriter

Name: Ju-hwan Wang [주환 왕]
Pseudonym: Peanut

Gender: Male
Age: 23
Birthday: February 3

Nationality: South Korean
Bloodtype: B

Occupation: Scriptwriter

Likes: Romances, sweets, video games (especially dating sims), Romcoms, writing, cats...
Dislikes: Scary women, bad endings, being treated like a kid, rude awakenings...

PERSONALITY
In a nutshell Juhwan can be described as a complete and utter hopeless romantic. He absolutely loves the sweet and romantic stories that the media bombards the world with. From 'Pride and Prejudice' starring Keira Knightly to the manhwas 'A Kiss from my Prince' or 'Bride of the Watergod'. He is an absolute sucker for anything with a 'happily ever after' where two become united. It is the same ideal that he dreams to have in reality, hoping that one day he might be the 'prince charming' or the 'Mr. Darcy' to his 'princess', or 'Elizabeth Bennet'.

However, what he doesn't realise is that these are mere ideals and that he is more in love with the notion of romance and love rather than that he actually is in love. His fantasies and expectations is what has prevented him from holding down a successful relationship, constantly getting dumped as he sets the bar too high. Juhwan remains within his own world without ever realising that it might never reflect reality. At least his faithful followers online appreciate his notions of romance, as his fluffy sweet stories are wildly popular. His dreamworld is appreciated within fiction, but simply cannot come to exist within reality, which is why this dreamer has so much trouble finding his proper place within the real world.

As a young graduate and bachelor the male is still looking for his love, feeling the pressure from society to start settling down already. However, mix in the ideals he sets and how dense this young man can be on how the actual world works and it becomes quite obvious why he has so little luck so far in love. Quoting pick up lines from video games isn't exactly the smoothest way to woe a heart, even if he believes himself to be quite the man. The fact that he even feels a little intimidated by any woman that isn't like the females from his favourite romcoms (which is basically every woman in the world) and the circle is round.

BIOGRAPHY
Juhwan's view of romance was shaped early on in life. Both his parents were absolute suckers for romances themselves, not dirty of showering each other openly in their affection for each other. The young boy remembers how his father made it a habit to gift his mom roses every week without a fail and how his mother would kiss him each time he did. To Juhwan that was what it meant to be in love. Young as he was Juhwan believed that a true romance meant roses, kisses, and gifts, without understanding the hardships that came with it.

This love was shattered young, however, as his father grew ill and soon passed away. The boy had been only six when it happened, and he understood that the loss of his father did his mother a great deal of grief. As both tried to deal with the passing of a husband and a father Juhwan sought for ways to cheer up his mother. Remembering how his father would bring roses every week the boy tried to do the same, but found that roses costed a lot of money for a kid with no allowance. Instead he got creative, bringing flowers to his mom he had picked outside. That made her crack a small smile and it was from there that young Juhwan took over the habit his father left behind.

Because his father had been the main income of the household Juhwan and his mother soon had to move in with his grandparents for financial reasons. It was there that Juhwan was encouraged to read and write. His grandparents were avid lovers of poetry and literature, and true to his likes they always knew how to recommend the sweetest stories for him. That along with the discovery of online forums where people could write and share their own stories the boy slowly blossomed himself into an avid writer. The wild flowers he gifted his mother were replaced by short stories instead, on which she would give him feedback on how to improve and encouraging him to continue. It was thus that his mother turned into a faithful fan and beta-reader, which was really all he could ask for.

"True love" is something that she doesn't believe in. Seo-yeon is a cynic. She sees couples as a pair of people who merely want something from the other, mutually using each other for their own personal gain--whatever that may be. Generally speaking, Seo-yeon is not very trustful of other people. She could probably count off the amount of people she trusts in a hand and still have plenty left to spare.

Seo-yeon sees herself as an independent woman. She doesn't like having to rely on other people--even her father--for anything. Part of this is because of her cynicism and distrust. She feels as if there really isn't anyone that she could rely on. Working with others is often difficult for her and the people she's working with. Seo-yeon has a bad habit of trying to take all the important work and thus overwork herself to exhaustion.

Work seems to be her main motivator in life. As tired as she may be with seeing the same old stereotypical korean drama scenes over and over again, she still takes her job very seriously. Seo-yeon is a perfectionist. Just because she may feel tired of directing the same thing all over again, it doesn't mean she's willing to let the quality suffer. She pays close attention to detail and is not afraid of calling out mistakes made by someone, regardless of who it may be.

Although work may be her main motivator in life, it isn't the only thing that she takes seriously. Seo-yeon takes pretty much everything seriously. She most definitely isn't the type to jest around. Likewise, she's also the type who would take a joke literally. Jokes either sail right past her or it offends her.

She's definitely someone that people would consider to have a "stick up their arse." Strict and uptight; Seo-yeon likes being in control of things. Change is something that she isn't a fan of but knows is inevitable. She always has a hard time adjusting to new things. Seo-yeon is definitely not an adventurous person. Trying out new things somewhat scare her. She finds comfort in familiarity. Each day Seo-yeon has a routine she follows, otherwise she'll feel very uncoordinated and will likely mess up on even the simplest of things throughout the rest of the day.

biography
Episode 1: Childhood
When she was young, Seo-yeon's mother pushed her to enter the entertainment industry. Her mother often encouraged her and praised her singing. "You'll be able to earn a lot of money," she would often tell her. Seo-yeon's family wasn't rich, but neither were they poor. They were just a little bit below average; able to afford the necessities to live, but doesn't have much to spare for splurging on things.

Hearing her mother praise her singing made Seo-yeon confident that she'd be able to make a name as a singer. Thus, when she was still in middle school, she auditioned to different entertainment agencies, hoping that one of them would take her in. Every time she didn't get accepted, Seo-yeon felt her self-esteem go down. It didn't help that her mother would nag about it every time as well.

Episode 2: A dream that is not hers
One day, her mother up and left her and her father. Seo-yeon didn't know the real reason why and blamed herself. If only she got accepted by an entertainment agency like her mother wanted for her. It pained Seo-yeon, but at the same time it also made her more resolved to enter the entertainment world. In her mind, if she did as her mother wanted her to do, she'd come back. So she went on and continued to audition at various entertainment agencies, regardless of how big they were. After several tries, a small, fairly new, entertainment agency accepted her as a trainee.

Juggling between school and training was hard. Seo-yeon's grades dropped and she wasn't getting a lot of sleep. This worried her father a lot. He tried talking her out of it, telling her that she should quit. This had a negative effect on the relationship between father and daughter. Seo-yeon started seeing her father as an antagonist who didn't want to see her succeed, someone who didn't want her mother to return. She was blind to the concern he felt for her future and wellbeing. Seo-yeon just wanted her mother back.

After three years of training, Seo-yeon debutted in a six unit girl group. By this time, Seo-yeon had just graduated from high school. The debut ended up being flop, but Seo-yeon was still hopeful. She still believed and had hope that if she made it big her mother would return.

Seo-yeon had no intentions on entering college in favour of focusing on her current career. However, as she worked with directors and other backstage crew during video shoots for their music videos, she found herself slowly becoming interested in what happens backstage. It was at this point in her life that she began wondering if she'd made the right decision to pursue a path set by her mother.

Episode 3: Moving forward
Two years later, Seo-yeon's group finally gained tracktion and was starting to rise in popularity. Despite the success they were starting to get, Seo-yeon felt like something was wrong. She wasn't happy. It was then that her mother finally came back into her life. Seo-yeon thought that her mother's return would bring her joy, but instead it made her realise that her mother was only back for selfish reasons. Instead of embracing her mother and accepting her back into her life with open arms, she shunned her out of her life, something that pleased her father. Seo-yeon later found out that her father only ever got together with her mother just so Seo-yeon can grow up with a family. There was no love between the couple.

Soon after her mother tried to worm her way back into her life, Seo-yeon left the girl group she was in and entered college to study film. She wanted to explore other career options. Upon graduating, Seo-yeon left home and began working as a director. It was a decision she was pleased with, however she now finds herself to be stuck in another rut. While she enjoyed directing, she was sick of the same old kdrama blueprint that she had to direct. Unfortunately, she knew as well that it was what people liked and what the people liked it brings in the money. Maybe one day she'll be able to direct something different.

miscellaneous
Phone and Planner
These are the two things that she will never ever leave home without. Seo-yeon is very dependant on her phone and planner. Dates have always been hard for her to remember and thus why a planner is a Godsend for her. Although she's aware that she could simply use her phone as her planner, she still likes having a physical planner she can jot important dates on. Without her planner, her life becomes a mess. Her phone is only second in importance next to her planner.

Smoking
A habit she managed to pick up from when she was in college. Seo-yeon deals with her stress by lighting a cigarette. She always keeps a pack of cigs in her bag just in case she feels the need to smoke one.

Grumpy mornings
Although Seo-yeon is an early riser, she is most definitely not a morning person. She's very grumpy during mornings and is very likely to snap at someone who tries to talk to her. Coffee is a necessity for her during mornings. Truthfully, she isn't a fan of waking up early, but her body refuses to sleep in. Seo-yeon wakes up at exactly 6 am regardless of what time she slept the night before.

Badgering father
Her father has been pestering her to go and marry someone asap. He's quite excited to have a grandchild. Meanwhile, the idea of having children makes Seo-yeon cringe. She isn't ready to settle down yet and quite honestly, she's not even certain if she'll ever want to settle down with someone. Having a family is the last thing on her mind.

Name: Haneul Kyung

Stage Name: Smeb

Role: Lead Actor

Age: 24

Personality:
Once the cameras stop rolling and the masks fall, it becomes clear that Haneul is nothing like his on-screen persona. While he is certainly handsome and knows it, going to great measures to groom and dress to the nines, he is far from celebrity material. He prefers to keep to himself rather than be bathed in the spotlight.

Anyone who truly knows Haneul knows that he would much prefer to hole up in his room playing video games or talking to his online friends all day. Even as he might take great care to seem calm and put-together, greeting everyone casually with a wide smile and a hello, the truth of the matter is that he is not actually all that good with people. Haneul is known to be fairly approachable within the industry, but often finds himself overthinking conversations. It is a constant struggle with his crippling social anxiety--something that he tries so hard to cover up. Beyond where the cameras can reach, he just needs to be by himself and recharge from the mental and emotional turmoil that the celebrity lifestyle burdens him with.

His introverted nature may lead some to wonder how he even came to be a famous actor in the first place. It is ironic how, for a man who wishes to be so isolated from the rest of the world, has his face splattered across billboards and his name mentioned in day-to-day conversations. Haneul, while undoubtedly theatrically gifted, never really thought to pursue acting as a career, nor was he particularly interested in the glittering chaos that was fame. However, he was drawn to theatre; the idea of stepping into the shoes of all sorts of people and being reincarnated into different timelines and alternate universes appealed to him greatly. Eventually, with some urging, he was convinced by his friends to pursue acting so that he may afford his expensive lifestyle of games, gadgets, exquisite food, and beauty regime.

Despite his extravagance and somewhat childish flair, however, Haneul is a hard worker. It may not seem like it, given how he always keeps up this laidback front, but he can be very determined when he puts his mind to it.

Biography:
Haneul's life started out with a singular tragedy that changed his future forever. His mother died on the birth bed, and because his father was always away on a business trip, young Haneul was sent to live with his grandfather in the remote countryside. There, families lived ricefields apart and it would take hours to get to the nearest supermarket.

And so he lived mostly a life of solitude, knowing only the farms and small town people. By the time his father came to take him away to the city, Haneul was already ten years old. He saw his father merely as a stranger but had no choice as he was taken away by the arm, eyes red with tears and unwilling to part with his ill grandfather. The blinding lights of the city, busy roads, tall skyscrapers, and crowds of people was a shock to a boy who had lived mostly isolated in the countryside for the longest time. Because of this, he had some trouble adjusting for the first few years and was frequently bullied in school as well for his odd behavior and accent.

One day, in an attempt to cheer him up, his father brought him to the theatre and it was there that Haneul was introduced to the world of acting. He and his father discovered the one thing they truly had in common: their shared love for theatre. Haneul joined his school's drama club and soon became a prominent member. It was there that he gained friends. While the bullying still ensued outside of the club, he now had a safe space to fall back on and everything in his life became a lot more stable and tolerable.

But when he reached his teenage years, he bloomed from an ugly, awkward little duckling to a rather handsome young fellow. He shot up several feet tall and became popular in school as a result. No longer did his classmates scoff at him. Nor did female classmates snub or laugh at him. Even those school plays in which he starred began to garner a bigger audience than ever seen before. However, that also meant that he, unintentionally and perhaps undeservedly, outshined the rest of the group members, causing some of them to spite him for it in result. While he gained new friends around school, most of his old companions were turned away.

It was a strange thing to suddenly be at the center of attention, where people vied for one look at him and what once used to be enemies were now closest friends.

His newfound popularity also meant having his privacy invaded whether he was careful about it or not. He had some faceless enemies who would send anonymous hate mail and go so far as to threaten his life. Nothing too drastic had happened so far, but the threat of it alone was enough to put him on edge. It was just a small bite out of fame, but already it tasted bitter and poisonous.

However, he did not know what he wanted to be, and had no other purpose of direction or passion than the one he held for theatre. His father's complaints over his extravagance did not help any, either. And so, with some urging of his friends, he transferred to an acting school where he started taking on modeling jobs and the like, before proceeding to low-budget indie films. Steadily, he rose to fame, and before he knew it he was acting side by side with famous actors and actresses.

Even after serving the requirement of two years in the military, he sped through his career, eventually becoming one of the more prominent and talented actors in the industry.

In front of a camera his voice tends to be varied, but off camera his voice tends to be more cold and careless. It's very common for his voice to be laced in sarcasm. On the other hand when faced with his family members it holds more warmth.

Personality/Daily Life

858ddb9209d32567d7517fd40c72c03d.jpg

Personality:
Other then acting, Byeong-Su is a very 'go with the flow' sort of guy. He honestly doesn't care most of the time where arguments lead as long as he's not involved. Byeong-Su handles most situations very calm and very frequently he responds to situations with a shrug. Although he can be a father figure, being concerned about small things such as coats being unbuttoned during the winter or if the tag to a shirt is out. He doesn't take much enthusiasm to encouragement and tends to give off a carefree air.

It doesn't take much for a close friend to bribe Byeong-Su into doing things, just a few chocolates here and there and he's willing to do other folks bidding. He tends to be more of a trade type of person, he doesn't do things out of the generosity of his heart unless you're one of his close friends, a fluffy mammal, a bird, or one of his siblings. Although as mentioned before, if you're not own of his siblings, or in debt. He still expects a bit of chocolate in return.

He isn't one for confrontation although he can be quite blunt at times. While taking into consideration that Byong-Su is an actor, off camera he tends to wear a bland expression, and even if things interest him he shows it by a single raise of an eyebrow. He's quite shameless and doesn't really mind saying words a person would tend to avoid, on the other hand Byeong-Su is a stickler for dress codes. Although if you pick on his 'motherly' attitude he tends to show a bit of an embarrassed side if you catch him off guard.

Short N Sweet Bio

Bio:
Byeong-Su doesn't have a normal family in the least. His father had a gambling obsession until his unfortunate death, and his mother had an unhealthy obsession with shopping. His situation would've been alright if he didn't have two littler brothers, and a littler sister to top it off. In this sense, Byeong-Su was forced to hold the role of being the fatherly figure. He often took multiple jobs at convenience stores leaving a local daycare to take care of his energetic siblings. After his mother grew ill, it may have been harsh but Byeong-Su saw this of more of a blessing then it was unfortunate.

Now his mother bed ridden, Byeong-Su obtained an opportunity modeling and wearing a sweet smile for a large check at a young age. Soon enough Byeong-Su's face was shown across many magazines. Being in many fashion shows along with numerous photo shoots he gained a hobby for sketching out fashion designs. Although he didn't have much of it, when he obtained free time he would sketch out fashion designs if not supporting his siblings. These responsibilities being piled on his back, Byeong-Su didn't have much of a high school life. Most of it being spent making sure his siblings were home by 8pm, and they got to the activity that they needed.

Later and most recently Byeong-Su had gotten into the swing of acting, while still managing his siblings although not as much as he did in his high school days. Byeong-Su recently getting into the interest of romance cliched story lines continuously auditioned for these types of kdramas. He didn't mind getting second place, after all it gives him the money to maintain a mediocre bank account number. For once he doesn't have to worry about sinking into debt. Taking this into account, Byeong-Su still has the habit of glancing at his phone more than frequently to make sure his siblings hadn't gotten into any trouble.

Update

Exams are over, summer has started. I'm back in business again. I apologise for the radio silence. Did a roundup with the people who have applied and based on the response you can see what spots are still open down below, or in the updated cast list. Not all spots are filled, and not all of them needs to be filled for this role play to open. I aim to open the thread on Monday, July 10, but sign ups shall of course remain open for these who are interested to join.

Spots still available:
Lead Actress - a totally doe eyed and innocent looking idol turned actress. Through her much beloved 'innocent' image as an idol she has been chosen to take up the role of the clueless girl that wins the boy. This isn't the first time she gotten this part, but there is still a lot at stake. She apparently didn't do too well in her last project, leading to harsh criticism. However, the company is willing/pushing her into another chance. After all, she has the perfect image, right?

Second Lead Actress - if one role requires thick skin it is the second female lead. This poor girl often has to act as the evil counterpart of innocent. Charming, alluring, seductive and graceful but at the same time manipulative, cunning and very, very shrewd. Her ultimate goal is to stir up the relationship of the lead and be hated by the audience. Good thing she can make up her act through her public image.

[bg=black]Role: Second Lead Actress
Name: Miyong Ran
Gender: Female
Age: 23[/bg]
[bg=black]Fun Fact:
- Likes strawberries
- Has a pet ferret named K
- Terrified of bees
- Has a secret blog
- She has always looked young for her age[/bg]

Personality: Ran is quiet and distant from most. Unfortunately for Ran that makes it seem like she doesn't like most people. It makes her look like she thinks she's better than most, like she has no respect or time for others beneath her. She is serious about her acting, which also tends to appear like she is very critical against others work. However, Ran just has trouble interacting with people. While she acts like she does not care about others opinion of her, it tears her up inside. She wants to be accepted by many. Though her image isn't helped with all the negatives roles she has gotten over time. She wishes that just once she could play the main character who everyone likes. Instead, most people hate her character and in turn that makes many fans hate her. She sometimes takes that pain out on other people but once your break through her exterior shell she shows her vulnerability and sensitivity.

Biography: Ran was an orphan baby. She knows nothing about her biological parents and it seems that even the orphanage didn't know much either. There were rumors that she was simply left there on the doorstep. Others say that her parents used aliases and they're really criminals. Ran's life at the orphanage was ordinary. She took care of kids younger than her while older ones helped take care of her. She was there for quite a few years until she was suddenly adopted by a rich family who couldn't have their own child. Then, it was Ran's turn to get pampered and catered by her adopted parents and while her home life was good, her school life suffered because of her background. She was bullied and teased for not having real parents and that her rich family just felt sorry for her. This created Ran's tough exterior. She created an outer persona and used her looks to get up in status at school. Luckily, Ran's family made her take many lessons and acting was one of them. She became skilled and found that she enjoyed creating another character. However, her acting career hasn't been turning out how she wanted. She wanted someone else other than her parents to care about her, yet that hasn't seemed to happen yet.

Update

I said Monday July 10. Monday July 10 it shall be!

So, I'm on my phone, but as promised I have the IC up and ready for you all. Again, I aim for this chapter to take around two weeks before hoping to move on with the next part. Have fun, sign up is still open. Lead Actress is the last role that is waiting to be filled, but there is no hurry, yet.

Ji-hye Rhee

Stage name: Ishtar
Age: 22, August 15

Personality:
Ji-hye is a playmaker. She knows how to talk the talk and smooth things out for herself. Born with a sharp business-like instinct the girl knows how to throw in her charms to get that what she wants. She has been in the game of social cues long enough to switch on and off her charms for the desired effects. A bystander, one of the crowd, but pulling the strings behind.

Ishtar is a crowd pleaser, who knows what the crowd wants. Playing the crowd and abiding to their wishes. She attracts the attention to herself and leads from there, which is in contrast to Ji-hye who goes from the back.

A combination of that is what makes the young idol. Young as she is there is a burning ambition within her that can't be stopped. A force that is willing to go through far lengths to climb to the top, even if it is over the backs of scandals of others.

The instigator versus the girl next door. It is a conflicting mixture, but that is what Ji-hye could be best described as. A regular female breaking through the entertainment industry with her witty and refreshing charm, but underneath there a devilish planner waiting to snatch her next lift to stardom.

Biography:
Ji-hye's life starts in Canada. Born to South Korean parents the girl grew up stuck between two cultures. One from her school life, spend with her peers, and one that she felt disconnected from. When she was young Ji-hye never really understood why she had to learn the Korean language, as both her parents spoke English just fine. Yet, they always told her that she would be grateful in the long run, which she eventually did.

Having grown up with Korean dramas Ji-hye had always dreamt of becoming an actress. However, it was when she was a teen that she found out that young western Asians were going to have a hard time breaking through the market. Her best bet would be the Korean entertainment industry, but even then chances were slim as she was a girl from overseas who spoke Korean as a (noticeable) second language.

Yet, she took the chance. After graduating high school the girl applied for an university in South Korea and attended many auditions to get herself noticed and on the radar of talent agencies. She eventually got accepted into one, but was disappointed when she heard the advice that she should perform as an idol first before acting. The reasons stated was mostly because of her slight accent and background, she would need a stable fan-base first before any acting gigs would head for her.

She followed this advice and trained for a year before debuting within G.I.R.L. A girl group with the typical girlish personality that the market was already overflowing with. However, Ji-hye who insisted on a different marketing plan made sure that she stood out from the group and the rest, which worked and made the girl group a success.

As the girl group was gaining momentum Ji-hye started to take on a lot of endorsement jobs and small acting roles, wishing to show herself as a versatile celebrity with many faces. This was a success, as it had the desired effect. The girl was gaining praise for her carefully crafted image and hard working persona, in the meanwhile also managing to seem 'normal' next to her hectic life.

Now three years after her debut, and one year after first starring in dramas with minor roles Ji-hye has finally scored her first main role. And she is determined to breakthrough the market as a full-fledged actress and kiss her idol days behind.

Others:
- Speaks fluently English and Korean
- Bloodtype 0-
- Started out (and still is) a pop idol part of a popular girl group called G.I.R.L
- Is a sub-vocalist and main rapper of the group
- Learnt how to rap in her trainee days because she wasn't too good at singing
- Is considered the visual of her group by the public, because of her good looks
- Her group considers Ishtar to be the 'Conductor' because she likes to be in control over everything
- Studies International Business Management next to her hectic schedule as an idol

In an attempt to spice things up I hope to get some new players. No set roles this time, sign up as whatever trope you want and join in the fun of Kdrama. If you're interested you can fill out a sheet, or shoot me a PM to discuss ideas!.

To inspire you:
Currently we need some bigger personalities that aren't afraid of getting dirty, or to start drama. An evil mother-in-law for example, or a variation thereof. Or a gossiping make-up artist. Anything you want. Someone that has a reason to be on the set, and can impact the rest of the characters!

> No deadline. Unless this gets flooded with new apps.
> Permanent roles, with the condition that you stay active. Otherwise I will have to cut you.
> ALL THE DRAMA, GIMME A REAL A-GRADE BISH.

Also, questions to the PM's, pls. I like to keep this clean. (as far as I can keep it clean)

Lee Bong-Cha

Stage name: Diva xxxxxxxxx Nickname: Bong-Bong
Age: 21, May 12th xxxxxxxxxGender: Female
Nationality: Korean xxxxxxxx Bloodtype: AB positive

Personality:
One may know this before meeting Bong-Cha, but she is not all soft smiles and sweetness. To be precise, she isn't this way at all to most people's mistake, they base this off of her appearance. When in fact she is known to be stubborn, headstrong and confident. Though, her confidence is on the borderline of being totally conceited. That, however, is the least of her most unlikable attributes.

The most impressionable thing about her is her quick-temper that saddles up up with her quick-tongue. In her line of business keeping face is detrimental, so, she is known to be quite passive-aggressive, and her anger isn't something that one would want on them. Whenever cameras aren't around, though, she is quite open with her feelings however awful and cruel they may be. Bong-Cha doesn't consider herself to overreact or be a drama queen but she truly is, complaining about the simplest things, reading too much into things.

On another note, she is very self-centered, unable to understand the feelings of others around her easily and to empathize. Which also explains why she has very few friends and is incredibly awkward when honestly wanting to make friends or trying to be kind and considerate. And she does try to be truly kind sometimes!

Fair is fair though, and Bong-Cha isn't all bitch. She is thoughtful, that goes hand and hand with her observant self. She's clever too, cheeky, playful and honest. Unfortunately that honesty also happens to be outspokenness and her rude and mean thoughts spoils the mood often. If a person somehow gets close enough they'll find how quite loveable she can be.

Biography:
Born to a Korean mother and a Chinese-American father, Bong-Cha was birthed in Incheon. At the age of six, her parents divorced, her father left them and went back to the states. Bong-Cha's relationship with her mother quickly became a strained and almost nonexistent one, she was often neglected. Though, this didn't bother her as much as the absence of her father.

Even as a child, she had a hard time making friends and keeping them. She was picked on a lot for not having a father and got into a lot of fights because of her temper. To keep herself from getting caught, she was more sly and secretive with her revenge. When she got into trouble at school, though, her mother was harsh on her eve resorting to hit her more than often.

At the age of twelve, her mother finally remarried. To wipe her slate clean for her new marriage, she tried to dump Bong-Cha off to live with her, who refused having remarried himself. In the end she was forced to live with her paternal grandmother in Beijing. With her grandmother, she thawed out, she was the only guardian she felt herself with.

Living with a peace of mind she was able to pursue her talents. She had great aspirations, wanting do more things than actually possible. So, she settled on the achievable things. Then, one day when her class was holding a play one of her classmates father spotted her and she started her career modeling, then onto commercials and even appeared in a music video.

From there, her world only continued to expand. Once they discover her talent for singing, she auditioned for young artist program, for it she and grandmother had to move back to Korea. Needless to say, she succeeded and trained with others and debuted after a year in girl group called d:fi (Digital Five), with a cool yet cute style. Despite being the maknae, she gathered a lot of attention, with her voice, but her dancing was the best. It annoyed her that the face member of their group got better job opportunities and more leniency, she had even been offered to be bought out of the group.

Fortunately, she did receive other roles. Many of them being the same type, minor roles with almost the same type of character. When she reached the age of eighteen she started receiving lead roles. Her first lead role was a success, except, she kept receiving the same role over and over again and again. To add salt to the wounds, people started complaining about her acting career.

Bong-Cha hopes this drama changed things up because she's ready to pop.

Other:
- She loves spicy food, especially hot wings. Yum.
- She is a member of d:fi (Digital Five) as the main dancer, a sub-vocalist(to her annoyance) and Maknae.
- Her star sign is Tauras
- She takes care of her grandmother
- She has three half-siblings who she actually likes, one older half-brother from her father and two younger fraternal twins from her mother.
- The first drama in which she appeared as the lead in was a big hit that was under the "Gender bender" category
- She is fluent in Korean, Chinese and almost perfect with English

YUNSEO MOON

Role: Head Stylist
Gender: Female
DOB: May 5th
Age: 30

Personality:

The brunt of Yunseo's being can be summarised with simply one title: a survivalist. She fights everyday to live as an individual, a never-ending battle against the tide of middle-class mediocrity. She is an average person with a seemingly average mind. In that regard, she is honest. But what sets her apart from others like her is her rather ruthless, ambitious nature. She will let neither family or friend get in the way of her career goals, casting aside either one if they become too cumbersome. Yunseo doesn't do this out of vindictiveness, but rather a dogged sense of self-preservation. She has tasted poverty once and never wants to do so again. If avoiding it means brutally destroying her competition, then so be it.

In the in-between times of scheming and sharp conflict, Yunseo can be much like any young, stereotypical woman. One bad habit from childhood that has never left her is her penchant for gossiping. Secrets never stay secrets for long around her. Most of the time, her gossiping is done innocently. She likes to know people's business, and in turn, she likes for other people to know their business. But she has been known in the past to use it for revenge, brazenly slandering someone's name with reckless abandon. It is all part of her manipulations, something she has relied heavily on since she first moved to the city. And she has no intentions of stopping anytime soon.

Biography:

Yunseo was born the second out of six children. Her father being a farmer, they were a poor family to begin with. But the strain of four more children emptied what little savings they had, and the Moon house soon found themselves in the throes of poverty. She grew up hungry; a ridiculous thing, seeing as how their land quite literally teemed with food. But it was not theirs for the taking. Everyday, her father and mother rose early in the morning to take care of the livestock and nurture the produce. And when the cows were good and fat, and the fruit ripe for the picking, the food manufacturers would come in their trucks and take it all away. Her older sister couldn't stand it. When Yunseo was about nine years old, her sister ran away at sixteen with her boyfriend. It then fell on Yunseo to take of her younger siblings, as the oldest of them was but three years old, and could hardly be expected to look after themselves.

Misery was a frequent companion of hers. Like her sister, she knew early on that she wanted leave the farm as soon as possible. But unlike her sister, she was unwilling to wait for someone to come rescue her. The day after she graduated high school, she left home and moved to the city. Money was a constant issue; she worked three jobs in the beginning, and struggled to make her monthly bills on time. But this didn't last long. Yunseo was a pretty girl, and knew it. It was only a matter of time before she trapped someone in her snare. Her first victim was a wealthy businessman who had happened to meet her at one of her jobs as a hostess. He was nice enough, and through him--and his money--she was able to finish cosmetology school. She had dreams of becoming a famous cosmetologist. But being fresh out of school, she had no connections. Some time after her and her benefactor parted way, she became acquainted with an up and coming actor. He, too, became infatuated with her, and not long after they began dating. His connections gave her the celebrity exposure she needed. The jobs she would go on to take would eventually capitulate her into the limelight, albeit briefly. But that wasn't enough for her. She wanted to be rich, far richer than her parents could even dream of. And that would require some manipulation.

After a series of sordid affairs--and one particularly vicious rumor--the current company she is employed for gave her the position of head stylist. With the new, highly popular drama she is signed onto, she hopes to finally gain enough attention to be hired on for bigger projects.

If the lack of beautiful, bbcoding is giving you cancer, I apologize. But if I had spent anymore time trying to learn how to do simple div boxes--still haven't learned btw--this CS would never be up LOL. Forgive meee
