Fantasy is my #1; I will give almost anything a chance if it has strong fantasy elements. Post apocalyptic, superhero, alternate history, science fantasy, some supernatural, romance, and a few fandoms (especially Game of Thrones) are also likely to catch my eye.
My music challenges are fairly simple: music is provided to inspire some form of creativity, and you'll use it to create something that could be used in a world of whatever genre and time period you like. So long as you use the music as some kind of inspiration, no matter how directly or how vaguely, go ahead and create whatever feels right.

For this challenge, create a monster inspired by the music provided. Here's your song:

The Butterfly Effect - Worlds on Fire

And here are some questions to get you started.

What does the monster look like?
What weapons or abilities does this monster have?
Does the monster have any defensive strengths?
What is the monster's weakness, if it has any?
How did this monster come into existence?

What does the monster look like?
It's hard to say. This creature has an intangible body, visible only as something like a moving shadow, and can only be brought to a physical form with a specific magical spell that was formulated to combat it, and the last time someone actually managed to use it on one was so long ago, that what the creature looked like has been warped by the ages, some records compare it to a spider with a man's face on its back, others say it was like a monkey, and still others claim it was more similar to a bat with legs.
What weapons or abilities does this monster have?
This monster leaps into the mind of its prey, and merges its consciousness with that of its victim, taking over by degrees until the victim's identity is completely lost
Does the monster have any defensive strengths?
Not having a physical presence makes it impervious to removal by surgery or physical force once it has entered the victim's head.
What is the monster's weakness, if it has any?
A specific spell that can be cast upon it before it attacks a victim. It can also be cast upon the creature once it is already present in the head, but since it would physically manifest while occupying the victim's brain, severe brain damage most likely causing death would ensue, and so a way must be found to draw the creature out first; ideally by giving it a more desirable host, and attacking it while it jumps over.
How did this monster come into existence?
It is said to be the child of a wraith and a dark wizard, though this origin is widely disputed

Creature Name: The forgotten

The forgotten are creatures without a past or future. They are forced to live in the moment. When they take a fatal wound, unless they are healed properly, their world ends. Instead of dying, The Forgotten's existence is erased. All memories, from everyone on the planet, of the forgotten, are erased. The forgotten awakes from his wounds with no memories, not even aware of it's abilities. The forgotten has the ability to alter the memories of others, but only if it's making memories more pleasant. This is a blessing, and a curse, as the forgotten cannot find a way to return, or keep the memories of it's past lives within himself or another. He can also cover his body in a black, oil like liquid, that can shape and solidify in any shape or form. The forgotten also has a very weak personality. Because of its 'amnesia', it has trust issues, and it has problems speaking its mind. It can also rarely hold a conversation. After a while, the forgotten seems to remember only one thing about its most recent life, this is only a trait, or a face, never a complete memory. The forgotten also has a form of depression, though the black liquid would never obey its command, should it decide to harm itself. The forgotten is a male, and is doomed to always fall for someone. But since he eventually will be forgotten, he rarely chases after this love. There is a possibility for his fate to change, should be dedicate himself to learning how. But the enemies of the forgotten are many, and have no memories other than the forgotten's face, along with the strong desire to kill it. These enemies are called 'Erasers'. They have the same abilities as the forgotten, and are drawn to him. They only live to kill the forgotten.

Where do the Erasers come from? Who created the Forgotten? I'll tell you. It was the forgotten himself. He was once a very smart and powerful scientist. He wanted to find the secret to immortality. One of his side projects was also everlasting memories, so that one could live forever without forgetting their experiences. This backfired, as the 'doctor' contracted an unfinished, failed strain of the sirum that he designed to bring his dreams to life. At first, the sirum killed the doctor, splitting his body into five pieces. Four of the pieces gained perfect immortality, unable to come under harm. They could not be harmed in any way, only stalled. The fifth piece retained the immortality, but not the indestructibility.

So you see. The only way for the Forgotten to be remembered, is to completely embrace the Erasers. But how can he do this without getting himself 'forgotten' for the hundredth time? That's for him to find out.

That was more of a story than a creature creation, but I enjoyed writing this. I actually really liked that song, and felt like it had a message of loneliness in it.
