Murder XIX: Trouble in Paradise

As more of the power returned to Gon's body, he could feel his Nen surging throughout, giving him more courage as Bowser approached him and stared him down, no doubt seeking vengeance for doing a number to his son. If he were a more conscious person of such things, perhaps Gon would have felt worse about it, but one, this wasn't the time to get bogged down by being apologetic for taking out an enemy, and two... Well, Gon wasn't that good of a person to be honest, even if he was just a child, or so people liked to just assume of him.

"!"

With a slight gasp, Gon performed a few backflips with his returning agility in an attempt to evade Bowser's grasp, knowing he likely wouldn't last long in the monster's clutches! After creating some distance, Gon quickly thought up what to do. At only a quarter of his power, he figured he couldn't do much to substantially damage Bowser, but given enough time for the others to further damage the throne and restore his powers, soon the tables would be turned, Gon was sure!

Focusing his Nen energy into his hands, a bright light emanating as he focused it, he waited for Giga Bowser to charge toward him once again, producing an attack that, while it probably wouldn't physically do too much notable damage, would certainly be effective in its own right.

"Jajankenpa!"

Creating an energy projectile in his hands, Gon fired it from his hands right at the charging enemy, hoping to at the very least temporarily disorientate Giga Bowser and keep him at bay while the others helped restored his power!

The blast was enough to cause Giga Bowser to stumble back a bit, however the beast still kept charging forward once he regained his footing.

"C'mhere ya little wimp!!" Giga Bowser yelled towards Gon as he continued to give chase to the boy, still attempting to grab him as he did so.

Ernesti got up from being spat out. He was starting to lose stamina and momentum. His weapon began to spark once more, showing that his power was returning, which meant that it was time.

Ikaruga was demolished, but not completely. The most important part of a Silhouette Knight was made from Mythril, a material that, through no amount of sheer force alone, could be destroyed.

Mythril didn't make the covers, or the paint.

It made the batteries.

"Ikaruga's... Ether Reactor Cores..." Ernesti says as he begins to use whatever wires were left of the broken Ikaruga to hook its heart-like dual batteries to his weapon, the only part of Ikaruga in one piece.

"Thundering Gale!" Ernesti exclaims as many a lightning bolt struck Giga Bowser's body, powered by the heart of the fallen warrior Ikaruga in a very literal sense.

Ernesti could almost see Ikaruga being whole once more, as if he had seen Ikaruga's spirit float off.

Because Giga Bowser was so distracted with Gon, he didn't even notice the lightning bolt strike him, as it simply bounced his shell due to his back being turned to Ernesti.

"Piercing Lance!"

A barrage of lances made from flames were launched from his dual-wielded weapons in an attempt to melt and pierce the throne at the same time, like swiss cheese in the oven.

With Giga Bowser occupied with Gon and also Ernesti, a few golden butterflies sped over to the throne, ensured to explode if they were to make contact with the throne!

❝ Oh don't mind me. It'll be a terrible shame if this were to be destroyed, returned to nothing, especially by someone like me. Ihihihi... ❞ She could feel parts of her powers as a Witch coming back to her. Small golden lights were being generated near her, and soon turning more into those golden butterflies that she's sent after the throne moments earlier. She could've done so much more with her magic, probably doing what she hasn't done before with this power. Yet, she wasn't fully returned to her status as a Witch, so that would have to wait.

"Great going, Maria!" Shantae shouted over to the young girl with a smile and a thumbs up before joining in on the assault of the throne, using all the power she could muster so she could transform into an elephant.

"Let's finish this!" Shantae exclaimed in glee before ramming into the throne.

This, combined with everyone's other attacks, only further destroyed the throne. Everyone in the room would now feel another surge of energy, 50% of their powers returning.

However, it appeared that Giga Bowser had finally noticed your assault on his throne, and he wasn't happy.

"NOOOOO!!! Get away from there!!!" Giga Bowser yelled as he sprinted to the group, using his fire breath to get the group away from his throne. This time, the fire was a lot bigger, big enough to engulf the entire group in flames, in fact.

Surely she couldn't move out of the way fast enough even with magic, so Maria had to think fast here. With more of her magic returning, the young girl guided the golden butterflies together in front of her, and soon enough, they dispersed into a projected wall to block the incoming flames. Not all, but most from the looks of it.

❝ This can't hold forever, so hurry everyone. We're almost there! ❞ Even as Maria was able to use her available magic to create a barrier, she was surprised that Ernesti pulled her away. Most would do the same for her anyways...

Rita followed Ernesti and Maria's lead, using the throne as cover. He couldn't attack them without destroying the throne. It was a win-win situation, at least in her mind it was.

Gon was left stunned a bit as his attack did very little to stun Bowser, but it seemed to just be enough to allow the others to get his attention as the throne came even more under fire, and before the boy knew it, he could feel even more of his power return. Indeed, it was time to finish this.

"Hey! You really shouldn't turn your back on your opponent! Especially..."

As Gon called out toward Bowser, charging even more of his Nen power as it came back to him, the boy felt confident enough to try for a more direct and hands-on attack. Half may just be half, but the spiky-haired boy could only hope that his punch packed enough.

"... when you're against me!!"

The bright energy in his hands grew brighter and brighter with every second, the ground threatening to tremble as Gon tried to force out as much energy output as possible. With a cap like this, his limits may be more definite, but the boy was never known to not break past his limits. It burned even brighter with a burning passion twice as potent as the projectile he'd conjured up before, twice as strong as before, and even more, now changing his approach from a "paper" distraction to a definite "rock" attack!

"Jajanken!!"

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!"

Propelling himself at high speeds and counting on Giga Bowser to turn around to see the fruits of Gon's rising power for himself, the boy delivered a devastatingly powerful, reinforced punch toward Giga Bowser!

"Come on! We have to finish this!" Shantae shouted to the entire group. Still being in her elephant form, the half-genie continued ramming into the throne.

"You think yer stupid barrier can stop me?! Yeah right!" Giga Bowser shouted as he slammed both his fists down on the barrier repeatedly, earning a gasp from Shantae, who continued ramming the throne despite that.

Eventually, Giga Bowser managed to break through the barrier. Though before he could attack the group again, he was suddenly hit square in the jaw by Gon, which sent him flying backwards due to the sheer force of the punch, eventually causing him to crash into the ground.

"You little twerp. Yer in fer it now!!" Giga Bowser said once he recovered, rubbing his jaw as he stared at Gon. The Koopa King then let out a horde of fire from his mouth again, though this time it was directed towards only Gon.

Looks like the rest of you had more time to attack the throne!

Yusuke continued walloping the throne with all his might. At some point, however, his swings began to lose their strength and he started to breathe heavily. His chest burned, and he felt as his stamina was losing its luster. Although he was strong, his power was lessened without his persona abilities. He staggered back when the others would use the throne as cover, and dropped to one knee. "Dammit, this is... more laborious than it used to be," he mumbled.

Yusuke wasn't in shape like he used to be and he didn't exactly eat well enough to take good care of his body either. In fact, his body was a lot like it had been before he joined the phantom thieves, save for the battle experience and sword skills he now possessed. Despite the fact his energy was waining, the artist forced himself to stand again--legs wobbling as he moved. Whether his body wanted to cooperate or not, he was going to made it listen to him. His powerful fighting will wouldn't allow him to quit.

The boy gripped even tighter onto the sword he held, his knuckles turning red from the pressure. He would muster up the strength to finish off this throne if it killed him! Yusuke wasn't about to let yet another selfish individual ruin the lives of others. With his entire being, he absolutely despised anyone willing to take advantage of others and use those poor, unfortunate souls for their own gain. Despite the fact Bowser was a monster of some kind, he was no different from the human monsters Yusuke had faced back home. He was evil and he needed to be stopped.

As these thoughts flared within Yusuke's mind, a familiar sensation ignited within the boy's heart--the presence of his persona. Although he recognized this feeling, he hadn't expected ever to feel this power again after he had concluded his adventures with his fellow phantom thieves. He thought it to be gone. It shocked the artist so much that he gasped and took a step back, dropping his sword in the process. It took him only a few seconds to accept this had happened, causing a warmth to stir in his soul. It was the same warmth he felt when gazing upon his mother's painting, the same warmth he felt within the presence of of his friends.

"I can feel it... my other self."

A burst of light swept over the boy, fading in an instant to reveal Yusuke's clothes had changed. He smiled afterwards, relaxing when he would feel his strength return to him. "I should've known," he said, reaching down to pick up his sword. "You're a part of me; you never went away. You'll always be here when I need you most."

Focusing on the battle once more, Yusuke faced the throne they needed to destroy. Not only did he have the strength to do this now, but even more confidence.

"Yes, I can do this," he told himself before readying his blade and charging toward the throne.

"Now, I shall put you to the sword!" he called out, harnessing an enhanced sword skill he would use on the throne. While still not at full power, his hits were more powerful than they had been ever before.

"...Hm."

Hina let out an apathetic grunt as she watched the others fight. So the throne was what had been inhibiting her. With 50% of her telekinetic power back, she pretty much felt back to normal. It was very rare she actually used or needed her full power anyway. Now that she had the ability to properly fight, she raised both of her arms.

A telekinetic wave of power came from above both Giga Bowser and the throne. Hina used her power to attempt to slow Bowser down whilst also crushing the throne, as if an immense weight was placed on them both.

Now feeling more powerful, Axl unleashed his Spinning Chain Strike on the throne, only stopping as a bloodcurdling screech filled the air.

"Guess who the fuck is back, bitches!!" Jersey would fly into the room, wasting no time in pounding on the chair. With his help, it brought powers back by 75%.

"Ah, yes...everything is becoming much...clearer now..."

Gon attempted to protect his body from the fire by channeling his Ken power, enveloping himself in a clear aura that partially shielded him from Bowser's attack, but at only half capacity, he couldn't withstand it for very long. Fortunately for him however, it seemed that Giga Bowser was interrupted by the others who were diverting his attention back and forth, such as Axl, Hina, Jersey, Yusuke, and others.

He fell to his knees for a brief moment, but like a shock, Gon felt rejuvenated as soon as the throne was further damaged, restoring 75% of his power now. This was no time to give in now. He needed more. He needed to do more.

Charging his energy more, Gon powered up another bright glow in his hands, another Rock formation attack, even stronger than before, with a deeper color than before. He had to keep going. He couldn't stop now. He had to move! He had to move faster! He had to hit harder! Or it'd all be for nothing!

More. More. More!

"I... said... don't you turn your back on me!!"

Hoping to get Giga Bowser's attention again, he stood upright, moving in a less bombastic manner and reserving it for the power in his fist as he dashed to the Koopa's front and did a double jab to his body, even more powerful than his last attacks as the throne wore away more and more!

BOOM! BOOM!

"It takes more than some washed-up turtle to finish the Jersey Devil off!" Jersey cackled, letting the fireballs hit the throne as he flew into the air. "Come on, motherfucker! Give it all you got! Show me what a bad son of a bitch you are!"

"We almost got it! Let's turn this hunk of junk into rubble!" Axl continued to hack and slash at the throne, which was now 85% done for.
