First off, let's get one thing straight - Deedee never had a chance, even from the very beginning of her life. She was barely three years old when the Sun Flares ravaged the Earth, destroying every last bit of civilization, and took billions of human lives.. Not counting what it did to natural habitats and animals as well.
With all homes, buildings and such having been destroyed, survivors lived in small villages made up of pathetic little huts - made out of nothing but mud, sticks, and just about anything that the villagers could find. One of which, Deedee, her mother, father, and brother all lived in together.
Food, water, and other necessary supplies were scarce.. So the little family- as well as the others in their village -didn't exactly have much to get by on... But it was at least enough to survive on. Even if they were starving or malnourished, they got by.
Well... Until
they came.
At the time, no one knew who 'they' were. Just that there was a
Berg mysteriously hovering over their village. Many people crowded around beneath it out of curiosity... Only for it's hatch to open, and men in green suits to begin shooting down the villagers with incredible precision. But, they didn't shoot them with bullets - but, rather, with darts. As soon as someone was shot, they'd fall to the ground, unconscious. Some villagers managed to get to cover, but others.. weren't so lucky.
Deedee, her mother, and her father were a handful those people.
When she came to, she immediately noted that her mother and father- as well as all of the rest of the villagers that had been shot -were feeling unwell.. But Deedee, herself, felt fine despite being shot. She stayed by her parents' sides in worry, only for them both to rather quickly lose their sanity right before the four-year-old's eyes. They complained of horrible head pain, 'having things inside their skulls', and eventually were insane to the point of harming themselves and each other... before they both died in a manner that Deedee described as "real nasty". Deedee was completely and utterly scarred and broken by this.
Everyone that had been shot- just like her parents had in front of her -died terrible deaths within a day.
Everyone
except Deedee.
Because of this, the child was shunned, actually being called 'evil' and 'a demon' by the rest of the villagers. She was verbally demeaned, neglected, and generally treated like complete garbage. Her heart- that had already been broken by the death of her parents and friends in front of her -was stomped on, leaving it completely shattered.
Within a matter of days, the other villagers- including her older brother, Ricky, - fled the village... Leaving Deedee all alone for the nexf two months straight in the abandoned village, hardly getting by. The only company to be found were the rotting corpse of those who had died to The Flare- her friends and family included.. And maybe a squirrel or deer every once in a blue moon. These two months gave the child of four or so years much too much time to think about all that had happened, more than likely making things all the worse.
However, soon after those two painful months had passed, Deedee heard people approaching the village. Despite her immense fear that the other villagers had come back for her, her curiosity won out, and she went to look who it was... Only to find a group of strangers she had never encountered before: Mark, Trina, Alec, and Lana. She discovered that the group had come from another village that had suffered the same situation.. Before being barraged with questions by Trina.
After answering the questions with a series of gestures and maybe a sentence or two, the group asked her to join them on their quest to find the facility responsible for infecting people with The Flare, to which Deedee hesitantly joined them. After making camp for that night, then travelling through all of the next day, the group set another camp... Only to hear distant singing and chanting.
Deedee immediately recognized the voices, as they belonged to the people of her village - and she was completely and utterly terrified, because of this. Mark and Alec declared they'd be going to investigate, and Deedee warned them to be careful... And to avoid the man with no ears(who could be described as the village's leader).
Soon after the two males leave, a forrest fire erupts, and the three females reason they should all meet up at the base they were heading to(since they figured that Mark and Alec would have to flee that way as well, due to the fire splitting the space between the two groups). The girls make it to the base, only to be captured there and held prisoner. But, before long, the base sells them out to Deedee's village... Where all three woman are beaten and tormented without mercy. And, y'know, prepared to be sacrificed and all that fun stuff.
Lana was eventually dragged out of the basement they were all being kept in, and minutes after, Mark and Alec come in to rescue them... But Deedee notes that Lana is not with them.
She's DEAD, like ALL OF THE REST OF DEEDEE'S FRIENDS. After Mark and Alec explain that they had come to rescue the girls, and explain they need to go, Deedee shows bravery for the sake of her companions. Of course, their rescuers were followed by a massive horde of Cranks- the people who were infected with The Flare -, that all attack the group. However, Trina- who had become infected, but had not yet lost her sanity.. though, she had amnesia -managed to call the horde off, allowing the group to start back up the stairway to depart.
The group made it halfway to the door of the house when the horde roared back into motion - and Deedee is ripped back from her friends by the Cranks. They tried to drag her upstairs, with Trina right behind them trying to get her back. Soon enough, the group managed to escape back to a Berg that Alec and Mark hijacked.
And this bio is already too long so I will just say that Deedee bears witness to her friends going insane in front of her, with their only final acts of clarity being sending her to WICKED so they can study her(since she's immune) to develop a cure for the Flare.
Where WICKED renames her Teresa Agnes.
