Spooky's Halloween Party [Non-Canon]

Wilson was about to politely turn down his invitation to dance when suddenly, all he could think about was the little ghost girl from before.
The image of small, still Poniko on the ground did not help his queasiness. If this was a joke, Wilson did not find it funny. Justice will find Poniko's killer, and hopefully the ghost as well, Wilson told himself, if we use logic and science to figure this out.
He decided he'd go upstairs later to search for clues around Poniko, but for now, the zombies might hold information. He turned to the leader, the least smelly one and seemingly most talkative.
"I regret to turn down your dance but ... Right now, we have a killer in our midst. Do you know anything about our gracious host's motivations here? Or anything about Poniko that led to her unfortunate end?" He waited patiently with notebook in hand.

Right before Spooky disappeared, Marceline could swear she saw her giggle quietly to herlself... How ominous... It was also noted that Marceline appeared to have lost her supernatural abilities, at least while she was in this mansion.

Continued from the Prologue
Round 1 - First Blood

Wherever people were throughout the mansion, in unison, each and every one seemed to lose touch with reality for a moment, and Spooky's image appeared in their minds. Looks like this was her way of... Communicating, albeit a rather intrusive way, it definitely saved her the trouble of gathering everyone in one place, at least for the moment.

ZeP6wGM.png

"Heh... You know, I did say this was going to be a party... But I never mentioned anything about this being a... Normal party~." She said almost playfully.

For a moment, images of a peculiar, and maybe even frightening flashed in everyone's minds...

Poniko, the seemingly mute, quiet girl, who had only really interacted with a few individuals, before walkign out... Appeared to be laying motionless on a stone floor, there was a brief glimpse of something else on the floor along with purplish bricks. It looked like she might be somewhere in the hall of jumpscares.

"As you can see... We have our first victim! Her death was no accident... You see, I, personally hid a killer among the guests!" Spooky said, raising her hands above her head for a moment, in an overdramatic fashion.

"Now now, don't worry! I'll make things a little easier for you... The killer is one of the guests that were here before my invitations I sent out!" Spooky explained, a mischevious grin was on her face.

"Because we only have one killer... Everyone will be allowed to vote for the suspect at any time! But! Starting from today, you'll only have three days before you can no longer change your vote. That's when I will tally the votes together, and the guest with the most votes, will be the final decision for who the suspected killer is." Spooky paused, seeming to think about this next part of her little speech for a while.

"Now! If the killer gets the most votes... I'll give you a prize!, and... Well, set you free!" She said gleefully.

Then, her expression turned more sinister.

"But... If the person who gets the most votes isn't the killer... Well..." A creepy glint appeared in her eyes.

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." She said eerily.

Her expression suddenly changed to a more thoughtfull one again as she suddenly realized something.

"Oh! Yes! Other than the body... The killer will leave clues in places in the mansion... Just be carefull which ones to trust~." She said, but then seemed to remember something else too.

"Oh right right... Maps... ... Gimme a sec and... SHAH!!!" She shouted.

The sound of thunder could be heard somewhere in the background, before everyone appeared to feel two distinct rolls of paper, entangled with one another in their hands.

"Remember to look for clues! They'll point you in the right direction... Or maybe just help you out!... Or not... Better start hunting! And talking!" She said, giggling a little.

Then, her little intrusion was gone, and everyone was brought back to reality.

However, this time, a more ominous feeling filled the air of the mansion; looks like Spooky's presense wasn't completely benign after all. Each and every one of the guests would notice that they were now holding some sort of map consisting of two pieces of paper, rolled up with one another.
ZbCytFn.png

EzO8Nj9.png
Looks like there were a few options left for everyone right now:

Visit the Hall of Jumpscares and locate Poniko's body to figure out the cause of death, and perhaps find some evidence where she lay.

Explore the Mansion in an effort to locate more clues.

Or, talk with the NPC's in the mansion, to see if they had any helpfull information to give, or perhaps eventually slip up with their words, and accidentally reveal something they shouldn't have.

...

Perhaps it was unwise of her to drink from someone else's cup
Especially if she didn't even know who that cup belonged to

...

OOC Note: So basically this is where the investigations begin! Remember that only NPC's have the potential to be the killer here, so it is a VERY good idea to start interacting with them.

Each round, various clues will be scattered around various locations in the map, but watch out! There might be a few red herrings scattered here and there, but on the other hand... There IS a small side quest that may involve certain items, which does involve Spooky, and her backstory, to a degree.

Oh! And remember to tag @Ringmaster for the following rooms;

The Hall of mirrors, the trophy room, and the haunted wing.

The rest of the rooms are going to be GMed by me for the most part, while the courtyard is basically GMed by both me and @Ringmaster so I suppose tagging both of us is fine for the time being.

Well, whoever the man was, he looked a little puzzled at the imagery he had been shown by spooky the ghost, as well as the map that he now held in onf of his hands. However, after a few moments, he regained his composure, and cleared his throat, speaking as clearly as he could.

"Call me 'Blue'." He said simply.

"Blue" eyed the area around him, looking to be alot more on his guard now before he said anything more.

"So. Unless that ghost was playing some trick on us... There's a body somewhere, and someone in this room is responsible. Any guesses?" He asked.

This guy was surprisingly calm in a situation like this, but there was still a chance, however slim it may be that he was the killer after all.

The game started like any pacman game... Except, unlike a pacman game, it seemed that the player controlled a miniaturized sprite of Spooky the Ghost, and it quickly became obvious that the goal of the game was to catch up to pacman and touch him. This resulted in a large nail flying from offscreen, impaling pacman with a rather loud death rattle playing in the background... How chilling. The game appeared to restart each time it happened.

What kind of game was this? It was almost like something from a predictable "creepy pasta" article, really.

@LuckycoolHawk9 @Mari
@Mrs Spook
...

The machine booted up, instantly starting Wadonara in a game session it seems, throwing her right into the action almost immediately.

MYeXVaC.png

Overall, it seemed that Spooky Kart played surprisingly similar to Mario Kart, if any of the players had ever played that game... Except, unlike Mario Kart, the player controlled some sort of marauder military Trick. The goal of the game appeared to be to catch up to other racers cause said racers to crash by ramming into them.

An announcer usually said something like: "Nitrous!", "Checkpoint!", "Killer!", or "Crime doesn't pay!" whenever another player was successfully eliminated.

The game only appears to end when the player themselves wiped out, or when the game runs out of time.

@Crow @Hana
@Spooky Kart

That piece of toast might have smiled a little before it suddenly retracted into a hidden slot in the wall.

As whoever dared to do so, continued further down the "hall of jumpscares", now with the knowledge of a body laying around somewhere... They would make their way through a wooden door, which was not really an exit, but instead just opened up to another hallway... This was less of a hall, more of network of rooms... The place seemed alot bigger on the inside.

It wasn't long before the group could spot the figure of someone laying on the floor, but any that dared to draw close enough would find something unexpectedly popping out at them.

4eP1qQx.png

With a much more distorted, and sharper sounding sound effect, a cardboard cutout of what had once been a cartoonish ghost popped out of the wall. A much more chilling face appeared to have been painted onto its surface.

Fortunately, it was still nothing more than a cardboard cutout, or at least that's what one would hope, and those who ventured past would discover Poniko's lifeless body laying on the ground, from where they were, and oddly enough, there was a plastic cup laying on the floor, like the ones laying around on the refreshment tables in the ball room.

Of course, one could always investigate Poniko's body if they were feeling particularly inquisitive, but it would appear that Spooky had been telling the truth about the body... Which meant that there was indeed a killer on the loose now, pretending to be one of the party guests that had arrived before the ones with invitations.

Very surprised someone would invite him, Crona flinched. "O-Oh, really? You're not joking, are you? I don't know how to deal with jokes very well..."

"Darn it, Crona, you should be more used to people already. Not everyone wants to avoid you," Ragnarok chimed in, licking his lips before he took a few more bites of food.

Uncertain, the witch's child eyeballed the ground for a moment before glancing back up at Sakura. "In that case, okay," he replied, appearing grateful. "Where do you think we should go?"

@Yun Lee

"No way! I wouldn't joke about that," Sakura assured her new friend. But before she could answer his second question, she got Spooky's message. And man, was it chilling. A little girl dead? The killer already here?! That was horrible! Why-

Oh. Ohhhhhhhhhhh.

Sakura clapped her hands, an excited smile on her face. "Ohh, I get it!" She looked to Crona. "It's an interactive mystery theater! Y'know, when they set up a murder at a dinner party and the guests gotta solve it? How cool! I've always wanted to go to one of those...Isn't this great, Hibiki-san? Er...Hibiki-san?

Dan Hibiki had gone missing. Maybe he waa already doing his iwn investigation? Well, even if they were split up,Sakura was going to have fun with this theater show. "So...we should investigate, right?" Opening up her maps she looked at them before noticing something odd. "Hey, check this out! This big room on the first floor says, 'UNDEFINED'! I bet there are some clues there!!"
@Klutzy Ninja Kitty @york

Though Sakura was able to find the bright side of this, someone else was not. As she had tried looking for Dan, the man in question had bolted out to the first floor and into the courtyard, screaming the whole way there. "I gotta get outta here!!! I'm too young to die, dammit!!" He had forgotten everyone but himself for the time being as he attempted to find a way out of the house.

"Alright! It's our turn now! C'mon, uh, what's your name? Well, pick up a ball and let's get rolling! I'm Koto, nice to meetcha!"

The energetic girl was oblivious to Sam's rather morbid preference of the game and simply picked up a ball herself, intent on playing with whoever else wanted to have a go.
AhoRpEz.jpg

"Hehehe!"

Sam waddled over and grabbed up a ball as he nearly toppled over grasping it. He had never done anything like this before! As he looked over the bowling ball, Sam noticed the three holes that you presumably slipped your fingers into. Was Koto sure that this wasn't some kind of morbid entertainment? The holes reminded Sam of eyesockets and you could slip your fingers into those easily! Sure, it took a wee bit of force and some decapitation but eventually you'd get there.

Still, whatever the case may have been, it didn't take away from the fun Sam was having! Rolling the ball down the lane, Sam giggled as he watched the pins topple over. This was actually amusing after all! Before Sam could fully take in his enjoyment however, a brief image flashed through his head.

Something of a broken and battered girl on the floor. She seemed to be dead! Why, this was terrible! What if the smell of her corpse lingered into this room and they had to smell it while trying to have fun? That would just take all the excitement out of this! Frowning behind his mask, Sam waddled over towards Koto with a hand extended. He truthfully didn't care one bit about this murder or whatever it entailed. But he didn't want to spend the remainder of this party without a friend by his side!

Besides, he wouldn't mind some company if he had to punish some naughty rule breakers!~

The flash of the corpse came and went within Michael's pysche. Given how twisted he was, it barely fazed the serial killer. In fact the only thing that really came to mind so far as investigating was trying to find some kind of weapon. Didn't seem like his hands would cut it here.

Heading off to the Haunted Wing, Michael idly wondered if he could find a scalpel there. Or perhaps even some kind of knife.

....Well, that was indeed a thing. Off to the side of the stairs on the ground floor was a door less kiddie-friendly then the others. No arcade nonsense nor fun time vibes were to be had here. Instead, there was a rather foreboding aura that radiated and chilled the bone, as people came closer.

But what was that, to the Halloween slasher?

The door creaked open and in the flickering light, he'd see the following...Perhaps a familiar sight.

It was far vaster than the manor had suggest and set out after the manner of an asylum.

Michael knew full-well what exactly this place was. He'd been in one since he was six years old. But unlike many of the adults that were kept there, it's likely that the six year old boy with the pale, blank face may have been scarier than all of them. But now that same man was grown and no aslyum could contain him. Nothing could frighten him. Michael's footsteps sounded out through the halls as he continued forward.

Ghosts, demons, zombies, whatever lurked within these halls. They all could have sprang out and Michael would have reacted the same: with sheer and unrelenting violence. He may not have had a weapon and his strength was cut down. But nothing would stand in the way of his goals.

Which in this case were to find a weapon suitable enough for him since that ghost had taken his kitchen knife. Where had that ended up, anyhow..?

Music filled the halls of the asylum and as it did, a voice called out in amusement.

Scooby was also looking around nervously. Who was the killer? Where they going to kill him? He was very frightened.

Alice looked at the game as it was played. It was a game, with a somewhat gruesome outcome, but it was just a video game after all. She looked at Scrappy, and shook her head. "I don't find any value in this," she said, "especially knowing that someone's been killed here." She closed her eyes and tried to remember what was shown and heard in her mind, and then she wondered if Scrappy had the same scene mentally as well. "If we saw that same scene, perhaps we need to find out who the killer is. Investigate. Use our skills to prevent any more deaths."

"But should we find a clue from others, suspects perhaps? Or search for clues?"c

Scrappy wasn't liking the game either and felt unnerved when he had found out there was a dead body. Despite being brave and unmasking monsters, the pup had a thing against death. His mother had died recently and it reminded him of her. He looked at her and thought about where they should go. What would his Uncle Scooby do in this sort of situation. He thought about it and remembered that there had many doors. Perhaps they could figure out which one it was and they could find some clues on the body. Some killers were sloppy when murdering people.

"I think we should go and see if there is anything around the body. Maybe some clues there," he said.

"Okay, let's go, Scrappy!"

Alice nodded in agreement, and walked along with Scrappy towards the location of the body. Though asking questions of people might reveal something, so would investigating the body and the area around it. She remembered the last time she encountered a dead person, and especially to a vampire there was a distinct, strong odor. She turned to her companion to thoughtfully offer him some advice.

"A dead person has a strong, unpleasant smell to it", she advised, "if you have never encountered one before." She smiled at him, thinking about what it must be like for Scrappy. "I guess to a dog, the sense of smell must be quite a sensitive and strong thing?"

Blue nodded, though it was a bit hard to tell underneath that oversized hat of his. Unfortunately, even as he looked at the map, he seemed indecisive as to where to go.

"So. Where do we start?" He asked.

Welp, perhaps he was alot more used to taking orders than giving them, something that he must have picked up in his earlier life.

@LuckycoolHawk9

...

Soon enough, Dale and Tucker ran straight into a trio of people that had been hovering around the area, pacing.

A blonde haired girl, who looked like she might have come straight out of a painting was sulking a little, kicking her feet around. She didn't look much older than 8 or so.

"I wanna go home..." She said balefully.

The purple haired man who was still holding onto a plate full of crumbs, and a single maccaroon let out a small sigh.

"If only I paid more attention to the guests..." He muttered to himself.

Sounds like he was more than a little tired, but hey, that was probably the least of his concerns right now.

Holding the man's free hand was a quiet, brown haired girl... She appeared to be looking towards one of the refreshment tables with a somewhat thoughtfull expression.

It seemed like neither of the trio noticed the duo of Dale and Tucker yet, but they were bound to if either of them spoke up.

"Maps. Clues." She repeated, a grin beginning to emerge on her face. "Holiday must have come early this year. What a gift. Time to go hunting, what I do best." Clutching the map tightly, she made her way off to go explore the mansion. Quite honestly, what she had seen from most of these people didn't interest her much. Well, more like she didn't give a damn about them, put less politely. Doing it alone suited her just fine.

Like any others that exited the ballroom, there appeared to be four other doors in the upstairs area, and down the staircase, according to the map there were four more doors to look through.

There were no longer labels on the door, but the map would reveal the names of the rooms the doors lead to.

...

Occupied Areas:

Arcade (Searched for the day)
Hall of Jumpscares (Location of the body)
Ballroom (NPC's are there to be talked to)
Courtyard (Exploration in Progress)
Haunted Wing (Exploration in Progress)

Unoccupied Areas:

Bedrooms
Hall of Mirrors
Trophy Room

An interesting thing to note was that from where she stood, Afra could see that the doorway to the bedrooms were hanging halfway open, in contrast to the other doors, which were completely closed.

It seems that those in the hall of jumpscares were joined by Scrappy and Alice as sure enough, Scrappy's nose lead the two straight to the body.

Poniko was laying facedown on the ground, and from what those who checked the body could gather, she was ininjured. And so it was, that through the courtyard, Dan in his attempt to escape, found himself dancing to the Thriller led by Zombie Michael Jackson, followed by Wilson caught in its proximity before both danced back to the threshold of the house.

That were completely useless, Wilson decided, as he was embarrassingly danced back inside the house.

He realized there had been another man with him; he was huge and yelling about not wanting to die (as though that were a unique desire he possessed, Wilson thought bitterly.) The man looked strong, certainly, at least in physique, enormous muscles, angry demeanor, booming voice: the typical testosterone-boosted qualities Wilson so obviously did not share.

But however intimidating he might usually look was completely offset by his giant, round pumpkin costume.

Still, Wilson was not exactly strong himself, but he probably had enough mental stamina for the both of them, so perhaps he and this ... giant pumpkin man ... would be a mutually beneficial team.

"Hello," he said, reaching an arm out. "I am Wilson Higgsbury. Might I suggest searching for clues together?"

An interesting thing to note was that from where she stood, Aphra could see that the doorway to the bedrooms were hanging halfway open, in contrast to the other doors, which were completely closed.
"When a possible enemy invites you in..."

Star_Wars_Doctor_Aphra_1_banner.jpg

"...I say heck yeah. Bring on whatever you got. The best things to find out there don't come without danger. No risk, no reward." With that commentary for no one else but her own benefit, she strode right over to the bedroom door, pulled it open all the way and went right on in.

Well, this little party just went from 5 to 11 in no time flat. A murderer on the loose inside a mansion with no escape? Now Spooky was beginning to speak the witch's language. Angela so adored drama, and what else is more dramatic than death, the ultimate act of one's life? And not one of those peaceful deaths; the kind that hit you in your sleep at an elderly age. A death imagined by malicious intent, and acted upon in cold blood. Now that's drama.

After she got her bearings in reality back, she moved to approach the dirty blonde and albino girl in the ballroom to have a little chat. Because really, what good are clues without suspects to pin them to? And kids are cruel, not thinking they know right and wrong yet. On top of all that, it was another girl that was killed. These two were prime suspects in the witch's eyes.

@york @Ballroom

Crona anxiously folded his hands, giving Sakura a slight nod. "Undefined, huh?" he questioned, hesitantly moving closer to take a look at her map. "I guess we have to start somewhere."

Ragnarok licked his lips yet again, also taking a moment to look at the map. "Heh, I hope there's food in that room."

Crona frowned. "Is food all you ever think about?"

ThILlzJ.png

Sighing, Crona glanced back to Sakura. "I-I'm not really the smartest person, but I'll certainly try my best to find some clues!"

"Y'mean Spooky and Poniko? No....They're little girls."

And then Dan ran out screaming. Immediately, the following began to occur.

As the dance finished, Dan was free to move his body as he pleased-and that merely led to him standing frozen in place, trembling. What WAS this place?! What did he do to even deserve being here?? All he and Sakura wanted was to go to a party...

Oh. Oh no! Sakura!! He left her in that house of horrors all alone with a murderer!! There were a bunch of kids in there! Oh man, if they died, his dojo's reputation would be tarnished, by God! And of course dead kids were never good...

His thoughts, however, were stopped by a lille man who had been dancing with him. He looked like a smart guy! And not one bit cooler than him, so a partnership could work! Desperately saving face Dan laughed, taking Wilson's hand and shaking, doing his best to keep a firm handshake so he didm't come off as scared. "Dan Hibiki! It'd be a pleasure to work together! Though, uh...w-where would we investigate, exactly...?" Hopefully someplace safe, if that were possible.
@wakely

Sakura nodded. "Well, it's all just fun and games, so I'm sure it won't be so bad!"

Unfortunately, their first clue seemed to be a dead end. Pulling and pushing, even slamming into the door once or twice brought no results but a sore arm. "Ow...okay, looks like this place is off limits," she sighed. "Maybe we can head somewhere else? Like, somewhere untouched or where others are..." Sakura started studying her map again to figure out what was where.

It seems that those in the hall of jumpscares were joined by Scrappy and Alice as sure enough, Scrappy's nose lead the two straight to the body.

Poniko was laying facedown on the ground, and from what those who checked the body could gather, she was ininjured. However, Scrappy could pick up a faint whiff of some pink lemonade coming from a plastic cup laying on the ground near the body. Apparently she had been carrying that with her, and probably finished it somewhere through the maze.

Alice looked at the body of Poniko, feeling sad for her death. She looked silently at the body for a minute, and seeing that she was not seemingly physically killed, she thought of what might have done it. There were many ways, after all, that would present a similar case of evidence.

She then looked to her companion, from his perspective, she thought there was a good potential for more evidence. "Hey Scrappy," she asked, "are you seeing anything that we might not be? Or perhaps, smelling anything?"

Vector

After the brief vision. Vector racked over theories. Afterall, who would be a good judge of murder than one who dealt it?

So, he went to the Hall of Jumpscares where he would see several people around the body. Walking over, he soon recognized the girl, yet he didn't feel sorry for her. Infact, the only sympathy he had, was for hoping her death was quick.

He would attempt to find any wounds that could point to a weapon, or to see if she was dragged here. Or, if all else failed. Try to find out how long she's been dead.

Pyro

Pyro would follow Angela, where he would attempt to say something along the lines of "How do you wish to question them? Good cop or Bad cop?" But it came out as. "Mmmrf dof ymf mmmf tof mmmf mfmm? Goof cof orf Baf cof?"

Which would be hard, as he was carrying a plush unicorn.

"Who the hell?!"

A fiery look appeared on Koto's face as the murder was unveiled, the girl rather pissed at the revelation. Unfortunately, she was no longer in the mood for any bowling or arcade machines. They had to figure out who'd done something like this, or she wouldn't rest for a single second!

"C'mon, let's go find that bastard!" she said to the sackboy, still not really having his name, but not like it mattered, right? She ran off for the Hall of Jumpscares, intent on investigating the body for clues.

Upon seeing the uninjured body, she began to try to search for the cause of death or anything wrong with the body, such as perhaps a sign of being poisoned.

Scooby wondered if the man had any ideas where he wanted to go. There were a ton of different places they could go to look for clues and he couldn't figure out which place would be best to go.

He paused when the man asked him that question.

Scooby read the man and decided to pick a random location that the ghost had mentioned. He pointed to a random spot on the map, hoping there were clues there.

Scrappy also looked at the body of Poniko. He felt really bad for the girl, but they had to figure out who her killer was and they seemed to be short on clues on the moment. He decided to start to sniff around to see if he could pick anything up that would be useful evidence for them to point to the killer.

Scrappy looked at Alice and looked around. He noticed the cup and smelled around. There was a faint scent of pink lemonade (?) in the air. " I smell pink lemonade. I think that is what it is called anyway," he said, answering Alice's question about it.

FAehMPK.png

"If only I paid more attention to the guests..." He muttered to himself.

Sounds like he was more than a little tired, but hey, that was probably the least of his concerns right now.

HOzARFl.png

Holding the man's free hand was a quiet, brown haired girl... She appeared to be looking towards one of the refreshment tables with a somewhat thoughtfull expression.

It seemed like neither of the trio noticed the duo of Dale and Tucker yet, but they were bound to if either of them spoke up.

Like any others that exited the ballroom, there appeared to be four other doors in the upstairs area, and down the staircase, according to the map there were four more doors to look through.

There were no longer labels on the door, but the map would reveal the names of the rooms the doors lead to.

...

Occupied Areas:

Arcade (Searched for the day)
Hall of Jumpscares (Location of the body)
Ballroom (NPC's are there to be talked to)
Courtyard (Exploration in Progress)
Haunted Wing (Exploration in Progress)

Unoccupied Areas:

Bedrooms
Hall of Mirrors
Trophy Room

An interesting thing to note was that from where she stood, Afra could see that the doorway to the bedrooms were hanging halfway open, in contrast to the other doors, which were completely closed.

Dead end!

Well, sort of, it appears that these doors were stuck fast, and as much as one tried, it was unfortunately unable to be opened. Perhaps they could try another room?

Seeing that the body was face down, she would flip over Poniko's body with her claws to see how the corpse looked on that side.
