"...I say heck yeah. Bring on whatever you got. The best things to find out there don't come without danger. No risk, no reward." With that commentary for no one else but her own benefit, she strode right over to the bedroom door, pulled it open all the way and went right on in.

Scooby wondered if the man had any ideas where he wanted to go. There were a ton of different places they could go to look for clues and he couldn't figure out which place would be best to go.

He paused when the man asked him that question.

Scooby read the man and decided to pick a random location that the ghost had mentioned. He pointed to a random spot on the map, hoping there were clues there.

@york

Looks like Scooby and Blue ended up at the bedrooms, both of them joining up with Aphra somewhere along the way.

wU6MhHs.jpg

At any rate, when Aphra pulled the doors open all the way, both her and Scooby (and Blue) could clearly see a bit of a long hallway. Somehow, Spooky managed to fit an crazy amount of bedrooms in her mansion.

"Whoa... Creepy." Blue muttered.

Fortunately, he didn't seem too phase, as Blue went straight ahead and began trying to open a few of the doors to the some of the bedrooms, but so far, the ones that he tried appeared to be locked up at the moment.

On the other hand, while Blue was busy trying every single one of the doors, there appeared to be a janitor's closet further down the hall. However, it was a little hard to tell what could be farther down beyond that, since there was a curve in the hallway, obscuring the group from seeing any further.

Well, this little party just went from 5 to 11 in no time flat. A murderer on the loose inside a mansion with no escape? Now Spooky was beginning to speak the witch's language. Angela so adored drama, and what else is more dramatic than death, the ultimate act of one's life? And not one of those peaceful deaths; the kind that hit you in your sleep at an elderly age. A death imagined by malicious intent, and acted upon in cold blood. Now that's drama.
After she got her bearings in reality back, she moved to approach the dirty blonde and albino girl in the ballroom to have a little chat. Because really, what good are clues without suspects to pin them to? And kids are cruel, not thinking they know right and wrong yet. On top of all that, it was another girl that was killed. These two were prime suspects in the witch's eyes.
@york @Ballroom
Pyro

Pyro would follow Angela, where he would attempt to say something along the lines of "How do you wish to question them? Good cop or Bad cop?" But it came out as. "Mmmrf dof ymf mmmf tof mmmf mfmm? Goof cof orf Baf cof?"

Which would be hard, as he was carrying a plush unicorn.

@Archmage Jeremiah @Ballroom @york[/USER]

The dirty blonde haired girl looked a little surprised when she was approached, but quickly rushed to regain her composure, putting on a friendly smile.

lzunvT8.png

"I'm... Yuzu Hanasaki. Um... And this is... Utsuro Hinohara." She said warmly.

Yuzu seemed to be pointing towards the albino girl as she mentioned Utsuro's name, apparently the two knew each other.

hkQqWs3.png

"... That girl's been staring at that table for ages." Utsuro muttered.

She appeared to be looking towards where Dale and Tucker were talking to a trio of people, specifically a blonde haired girl there.

...

In the meantime, it seemed that Pyro ran into someone who looked to be around 16 with a head of dark brownish hair.

RWuD1bC.png

"Huh? Looking to question someone?" He asked.

Somehow, he seemed to understood what Pyro said, or at the very least caught the idea of what he was saying.

A girl that had been beside beside the teen spoke up, she looked to be around the same age as him, really.

3D5XBcw.png

"They know just as little as we do." She said, a bit bluntly.

Though, despite the way she had worded that sentence, this gray haired girl didn't seem that unfriendly, just a little distant, maybe. Oddly enough, she wasn't all that bothered by the fact that there was a killer lurking around the area.

Alice looked at the body of Poniko, feeling sad for her death. She looked silently at the body for a minute, and seeing that she was not seemingly physically killed, she thought of what might have done it. There were many ways, after all, that would present a similar case of evidence.

She then looked to her companion, from his perspective, she thought there was a good potential for more evidence. "Hey Scrappy," she asked, "are you seeing anything that we might not be? Or perhaps, smelling anything?"

@luckcoolhawk9 @Atomyk @Jeremi @Verite @york @HallofJumpscares
Vector

After the brief vision. Vector racked over theories. Afterall, who would be a good judge of murder than one who dealt it?

So, he went to the Hall of Jumpscares where he would see several people around the body. Walking over, he soon recognized the girl, yet he didn't feel sorry for her. Infact, the only sympathy he had, was for hoping her death was quick.

He would attempt to find any wounds that could point to a weapon, or to see if she was dragged here. Or, if all else failed. Try to find out how long she's been dead.

@Ringmaster @HallofJumpscares
Scrappy also looked at the body of Poniko. He felt really bad for the girl, but they had to figure out who her killer was and they seemed to be short on clues on the moment. He decided to start to sniff around to see if he could pick anything up that would be useful evidence for them to point to the killer.

Scrappy looked at Alice and looked around. He noticed the cup and smelled around. There was a faint scent of pink lemonade (?) in the air. " I smell pink lemonade. I think that is what it is called anyway," he said, answering Alice's question about it.

@Mari @york
Seeing that the body was face down, she would flip over Poniko's body with her claws to see how the corpse looked on that side.

Poniko's body flipped over without much trouble.

Looks like her skin was a bit delicate though, as even the slightest touch, seemed to cause a little bruising on the cadaver's skin. Her green eyes were glazed over, having been wide open when she had passed away, but besides some dried blood underneath her nose, with a bit of it smeared on the floor, it looks like she didn't have any other signs of trauma on her, besides the bruising that the tender princess had caused.

If it wasn't for the the pained expression still evidently there on Poniko's face, she would have looked almost peacefull laying there, really.

In the meantime, Scrappy's sniffing allowed him to smell an unidentified, but strong chemical coming from that empty cup, that had once been filled with pink lemonade. It was likely that the drink had been laced with something.

"Pink lemonade?" Alice said to Scrappy. "It's a terrible drink, but it isn't the type of thing to kill someone like this." She looked at the others moving and touching the body, and it didn't seem right to Alice, it was not respectful at all to her, but she didn't say anything to those doing so. "Are you finding anything else, Scrappy?", she asked.

If they weren't finding any more information here, Alice was thinking of moving on quickly.

Right before Spooky disappeared, Marceline could swear she saw her giggle quietly to herlself... How ominous... It was also noted that Marceline appeared to have lost her supernatural abilities, at least while she was in this mansion.

Continued from the Prologue
Round 1 - First Blood

Wherever people were throughout the mansion, in unison, each and every one seemed to lose touch with reality for a moment, and Spooky's image appeared in their minds. Looks like this was her way of... Communicating, albeit a rather intrusive way, it definitely saved her the trouble of gathering everyone in one place, at least for the moment.

ZeP6wGM.png

"Heh... You know, I did say this was going to be a party... But I never mentioned anything about this being a... Normal party~." She said almost playfully.

For a moment, images of a peculiar, and maybe even frightening flashed in everyone's minds...

Poniko, the seemingly mute, quiet girl, who had only really interacted with a few individuals, before walkign out... Appeared to be laying motionless on a stone floor, there was a brief glimpse of something else on the floor along with purplish bricks. It looked like she might be somewhere in the hall of jumpscares.

"As you can see... We have our first victim! Her death was no accident... You see, I, personally hid a killer among the guests!" Spooky said, raising her hands above her head for a moment, in an overdramatic fashion.

"Now now, don't worry! I'll make things a little easier for you... The killer is one of the guests that were here before my invitations I sent out!" Spooky explained, a mischevious grin was on her face.

"Because we only have one killer... Everyone will be allowed to vote for the suspect at any time! But! Starting from today, you'll only have three days before you can no longer change your vote. That's when I will tally the votes together, and the guest with the most votes, will be the final decision for who the suspected killer is." Spooky paused, seeming to think about this next part of her little speech for a while.

"Now! If the killer gets the most votes... I'll give you a prize!, and... Well, set you free!" She said gleefully.

Then, her expression turned more sinister.

"But... If the person who gets the most votes isn't the killer... Well..." A creepy glint appeared in her eyes.

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." She said eerily.

Her expression suddenly changed to a more thoughtfull one again as she suddenly realized something.

"Oh! Yes! Other than the body... The killer will leave clues in places in the mansion... Just be carefull which ones to trust~." She said, but then seemed to remember something else too.

"Oh right right... Maps... ... Gimme a sec and... SHAH!!!" She shouted.

The sound of thunder could be heard somewhere in the background, before everyone appeared to feel two distinct rolls of paper, entangled with one another in their hands.

"Remember to look for clues! They'll point you in the right direction... Or maybe just help you out!... Or not... Better start hunting! And talking!" She said, giggling a little.

Then, her little intrusion was gone, and everyone was brought back to reality.

However, this time, a more ominous feeling filled the air of the mansion; looks like Spooky's presense wasn't completely benign after all. Each and every one of the guests would notice that they were now holding some sort of map consisting of two pieces of paper, rolled up with one another.
ZbCytFn.png

EzO8Nj9.png
Looks like there were a few options left for everyone right now:

Visit the Hall of Jumpscares and locate Poniko's body to figure out the cause of death, and perhaps find some evidence where she lay.

Explore the Mansion in an effort to locate more clues.

Or, talk with the NPC's in the mansion, to see if they had any helpfull information to give, or perhaps eventually slip up with their words, and accidentally reveal something they shouldn't have.

...

Perhaps it was unwise of her to drink from someone else's cup
Especially if she didn't even know who that cup belonged to

...

OOC Note: So basically this is where the investigations begin! Remember that only NPC's have the potential to be the killer here, so it is a VERY good idea to start interacting with them.

Each round, various clues will be scattered around various locations in the map, but watch out! There might be a few red herrings scattered here and there, but on the other hand... There IS a small side quest that may involve certain items, which does involve Spooky, and her backstory, to a degree.

Oh! And remember to tag @Ringmaster for the following rooms;

The Hall of mirrors, the trophy room, and the haunted wing.

The rest of the rooms are going to be GMed by me for the most part, while the courtyard is basically GMed by both me and @Ringmaster so I suppose tagging both of us is fine for the time being.

Well, whoever the man was, he looked a little puzzled at the imagery he had been shown by spooky the ghost, as well as the map that he now held in onf of his hands. However, after a few moments, he regained his composure, and cleared his throat, speaking as clearly as he could.

"Call me 'Blue'." He said simply.

"Blue" eyed the area around him, looking to be alot more on his guard now before he said anything more.

"So. Unless that ghost was playing some trick on us... There's a body somewhere, and someone in this room is responsible. Any guesses?" He asked.

This guy was surprisingly calm in a situation like this, but there was still a chance, however slim it may be that he was the killer after all.

The game started like any pacman game... Except, unlike a pacman game, it seemed that the player controlled a miniaturized sprite of Spooky the Ghost, and it quickly became obvious that the goal of the game was to catch up to pacman and touch him. This resulted in a large nail flying from offscreen, impaling pacman with a rather loud death rattle playing in the background... How chilling. The game appeared to restart each time it happened.

What kind of game was this? It was almost like something from a predictable "creepy pasta" article, really.

@LuckycoolHawk9 @Mari
@Mrs Spook
...

The machine booted up, instantly starting Wadonara in a game session it seems, throwing her right into the action almost immediately.

Overall, it seemed that Spooky Kart played surprisingly similar to Mario Kart, if any of the players had ever played that game... Except, unlike Mario Kart, the player controlled some sort of marauder military Trick. The goal of the game appeared to be to catch up to other racers cause said racers to crash by ramming into them.

An announcer usually said something like: "Nitrous!", "Checkpoint!", "Killer!", or "Crime doesn't pay!" whenever another player was successfully eliminated.

The game only appears to end when the player themselves wiped out, or when the game runs out of time.

@Crow @Hana
@Spooky Kart

That piece of toast might have smiled a little before it suddenly retracted into a hidden slot in the wall.

As whoever dared to do so, continued further down the "hall of jumpscares", now with the knowledge of a body laying around somewhere... They would make their way through a wooden door, which was not really an exit, but instead just opened up to another hallway... This was less of a hall, more of network of rooms... The place seemed alot bigger on the inside.

It wasn't long before the group could spot the figure of someone laying on the floor, but any that dared to draw close enough would find something unexpectedly popping out at them.

4eP1qQx.png

With a much more distorted, and sharper sounding sound effect, a cardboard cutout of what had once been a cartoonish ghost popped out of the wall. A much more chilling face appeared to have been painted onto its surface.

Fortunately, it was still nothing more than a cardboard cutout, or at least that's what one would hope, and those who ventured past would discover Poniko's lifeless body laying on the ground, from where they were, and oddly enough, there was a plastic cup laying on the floor, like the ones laying around on the refreshment tables in the ball room.

Of course, one could always investigate Poniko's body if they were feeling particularly inquisitive, but it would appear that Spooky had been telling the truth about the body... Which meant that there was indeed a killer on the loose now, pretending to be one of the party guests that had arrived before the ones with invitations.

Blue nodded, though it was a bit hard to tell underneath that oversized hat of his. Unfortunately, even as he looked at the map, he seemed indecisive as to where to go.

"So. Where do we start?" He asked.

Welp, perhaps he was alot more used to taking orders than giving them, something that he must have picked up in his earlier life.

@LuckycoolHawk9

...

Soon enough, Dale and Tucker ran straight into a trio of people that had been hovering around the area, pacing.

A blonde haired girl, who looked like she might have come straight out of a painting was sulking a little, kicking her feet around. She didn't look much older than 8 or so.

fI0imxi.png

"I wanna go home..." She said balefully.

The purple haired man who was still holding onto a plate full of crumbs, and a single maccaroon let out a small sigh.

FAehMPK.png

"If only I paid more attention to the guests..." He muttered to himself.

Sounds like he was more than a little tired, but hey, that was probably the least of his concerns right now.

HOzARFl.png

Holding the man's free hand was a quiet, brown haired girl... She appeared to be looking towards one of the refreshment tables with a somewhat thoughtfull expression.

It seemed like neither of the trio noticed the duo of Dale and Tucker yet, but they were bound to if either of them spoke up.

Like any others that exited the ballroom, there appeared to be four other doors in the upstairs area, and down the staircase, according to the map there were four more doors to look through.

There were no longer labels on the door, but the map would reveal the names of the rooms the doors lead to.

...

Occupied Areas:

Arcade (Searched for the day)
Hall of Jumpscares (Location of the body)
Ballroom (NPC's are there to be talked to)
Courtyard (Exploration in Progress)

Unoccupied Areas:

An interesting thing to note was that from where she stood, Afra could see that the doorway to the bedrooms were hanging halfway open, in contrast to the other doors, which were completely closed.

It seems that those in the hall of jumpscares were joined by Scrappy and Alice as sure enough, Scrappy's nose lead the two straight to the body.

Poniko was laying facedown on the ground, and from what those who checked the body could gather, she was ininjured. However, Scrappy could pick up a faint whiff of some pink lemonade coming from a plastic cup laying on the ground near the body. Apparently she had been carrying that with her, and probably finished it somewhere through the maze.

Valerie was not exactly shocked by the turn of events, however it did disturb her still. The gruesome murder of an innocent party guest, (at least Valerie assumed she was innocent,) the power Spooky had to communicate with such a wide amount of people at once telepathically, and the hint that Spooky had given were all facts that troubled her. Still, now was no time to sit around being scared. Valerie was a gym leader, and gym leaders were strong in times of trouble.

Taking some initiative to explore the mansion, she looked at the map and elected to go to the Bedrooms. She made her way, slowly and carefully, (you try running in high-heeled boots,) to the bedroom. Upon entering, she noticed the oddity of the half-open door.

As the dance finished, Dan was free to move his body as he pleased-and that merely led to him standing frozen in place, trembling. What WAS this place?! What did he do to even deserve being here?? All he and Sakura wanted was to go to a party...

Oh. Oh no! Sakura!! He left her in that house of horrors all alone with a murderer!! There were a bunch of kids in there! Oh man, if they died, his dojo's reputation would be tarnished, by God! And of course dead kids were never good...

His thoughts, however, were stopped by a lille man who had been dancing with him. He looked like a smart guy! And not one bit cooler than him, so a partnership could work! Desperately saving face Dan laughed, taking Wilson's hand and shaking, doing his best to keep a firm handshake so he didm't come off as scared. "Dan Hibiki! It'd be a pleasure to work together! It was lit by a single fireplace, and numerous candles everywhere. Moreover, the place was less a singular room and more three connecting rooms- Perhaps increased by knocking down the walls? At any rate, it was clear why its title had been the Trophy Room. A bearskin rug and two armchairs with a table before the fire reflected dully in its glass eyes, as it did in the eyes of all other trophies around them. Taxidermist work, of great apes, elephant heads, lions, wolves, snakes and birds- Almost every predator and almost every game beast, the greatest of the lot being some twisted and slavering man-thing.

A werewolf.

Angela immediately reared her head upon hearing the Pyro speak up and mention interrogation, and "cops", whatever those are, "Shush, Pyro. We're not going to question them, merely talk to them," the witch said; correcting the Pyro and sneaking them a wink, "This is a party after all. Get to know some of the guests!~"

@The Wanderer

She turned to face the two girls again and cleared her throat, "Ahem, greetings! Yu-zu and... Ut-su-ru, was it?" she struggled with their names a bit, as they were spoken in a foreign tongue she was mostly unfamiliar with, the exception being a pair of squabbling brothers she had crossed paths with during her more adventurous days. This really was a diverse gathering of people. "My name is Angela."

On the Balcony of the Ballroom, Leon peered out into the night. It was he feared. No matter where he went...No matter how far he traveled. There would always be one constant, one rotting, decaying, brain-munching thing that would haunt him to the grave. And possibly even beyond that. The undead. Zombies....Still.

His brow quirked in confusion.

.....Did they have to be this sort?

"CAUSE THIS IS THRILLEEEEER! THRILLER NIGHT!"

Despite the weirdness of it all, Leon had to grudgingly admit that it was an effective barrier. There were zombies everywhere he could see from his point of view. And whenever anyone- Like that Black Knight or the two from before tried to sneak past? By some means, they would join the dance and dance on back to the manor. Whether it was somatic or otherwise was still a mystery, but the agent's eyes were sharp and beyond the immediate grounds, out in the woods bordering it? He could see indistinct shapes, watching and flitting between the trees. Almost impossible to see, unless you were looking for movement.

All in all, they appeared to be well and truly trapped.

And now, he couldn't even enjoy the food because that kid had kicked it away.

Damn it.

Scooby paused, not liking the idea of going down another spooky hallway. They never ended well and he whimpered a bit as he reltucantly went into it. He noticed that all the doors seemed to be locked and Scooby sniffed around, seeing if he could pick any sort of scent.

@york @C.T.

In the meantime, Scrappy's sniffing allowed him to smell an unidentified, but strong chemical coming from that empty cup, that had once been filled with pink lemonade. It was likely that the drink had been laced with something.
Scrappy sniffed a chemical, but he didn't recognize what it was and he didn't have Velma with him. She would know what this strange chemical was and he was positive of that. " There seems to be some sort of chemical, but I don't know what it is," he said.

Well, whatever the chemical was, it certainly wasn't pink lemonade. In either case, it was evident that the chemical was likely linked to Poniko's death.

The only question that remained now was how it got there...

The Ylissean Prince didn't pat attention to the bowling ball ge had thrown to hit the pin once the announcement of Poniko's body being found.

Morgan had been slightly shaken by this news, though not too bad. He dealt with war and saw his share of death. Regaining his composure, the youngest Lowell made his way to the bedrooms.

"Got that right, kid. Exactly, creepy is right. And when things get creepy, that usually comes with something good. Blood draining robots, or lethal poisons or ancient weapons...but in this, probably a clue for whoever back with the rest. Or death, but hey, them's the brakes. Life's a giant dice roll." With that, she strode on over to the janitor's closet to take a look-see.

Seems that those that had just arrived found the majority of the people hanging around the janitor's closet.

In the closet, there appeared to be a half open container of some sort of poison, presumably to kill the local rats? At any rate, Scooby would instantly notice a strong odor coming from that container. Though there was no text on it or naything, that skull and crossbones on the container made it clear that it was likely toxic.

In addition, the search yielded a blue cap along with a blue jacket hanging on a coat rack to the side of the closet.

Unfortunately, if Scooby were to try and see if he could idenfity a smell from it, he realized whatever smells had once been on there, was masked by the strong odor of the poison in the room.

What was noted though, was that there were a few brownish hairs on both articles of clothing, or were they yellow? Hard to tell in the darkness, but it looks like someone had recently touched these things.

Michael paused as he heard the voice over the speakers. He likened it to the orderlies commanding Michael and the others at the asylum for lunch and the like. That was until Michael was barred from such things due to his dangerous anti-social behavior. So if anything all Scarecrow's taunting did was annoy Michael. It made Michael want to find whoever was speaking and strangle them until the body went limp in his hands.

The killer's footsteps continued to sound out throughout the halls as Michael's eyes glided from side to side. Would he see others within these halls? He supposed it'd make sense if there were. But Michael didn't see himself as one of those kinds of people again. He had escaped from the asylum and he wouldn't be stopped.

Though the mention of him being immune to the atmosphere did have Michael raise an eyebrow. Had something been changed while he was walking around here? Was that why this place seemed like it did? Was it all within Michael's head? Shaking his head to try and clear his thoughts, Michael focused on his new goal: To find the source of the voice and kill it.

"Possibly. I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet, it's...odd. The use of a disguise and poison would suggest a professional killer at work. Accidents and all, as the usual excuse goes. Blaming the death on health failures, heart attacks and the like. But then, just leaving the clothes and the murder weapon barely hidden? That suggests an amateur. A pro would have burned the clothes, probably dump the poison into a toilet. No clues at all to find...unless. He/she is toying with the lot of us. If so...big mistake."

Angela's ear twitched upon hearing music and voices boom throughout the ballroom, and took a pause from her conversation to peer outside. Lo and behold, she did manage to find the source, though the sight only brought up more questions than the one it answered. Dancing zombies? The most disturbing wave of déjà vu washed over the witch, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Tapping her chin in deep thought, Angela flipped open her spellbook and skimmed through the bulk of it before stumbling upon a great big bookmark covered in Xs and warnings. Had she placed it there? If she had, she certainly didn't remember putting it there. Perhaps for good reason...but the witch had an inexplicable gut feeling that what lay underneath the warnings was the cure to her curiosity. Pulling thee bookmark free, she took a peek at the page which held a spell named "Dancing Dead". Under the spell's description, required reagents, and procedures, was a note and an illustration.

Angela's heart sank, and she immediately covered the page with her bookmark again, looking truly mortified. Now the witch remembered why she had hid this page and forgotten it, and realized there was far darker happenings here than a mere murder...which gave her all the more motivation to solve said mystery and escape before she, and everyone else here, found themselves moving to the beat of someone else's drum. Forever.

Taking in a deep breath, Angela gave herself a quick pep talk while she recollected herself, "Don't fear the magic you practice...make it fear you..." she murmured. Adjusting her hat and sitting up straight on her broom, Angela listened to what the two girls had to say, and was honestly a little disappointed. Well, one of them anyway. The other seemed to be withholding some info. Scooting up closer beside Utsuru, the witch narrowed her eyes and took glances between the girl and where she was looking, "Say...you look quite observant. Has anything strange happened at the refreshments? Surely there's a reason you refuse to take anything from it."

As Vector helped examine the body. He didn't notice any wounds that would hint at a weapon. Which caused him to think about something.

What if what killed her was either chemical in nature, or a virus that could be adaptable? The thought alone put him on edge, and incase it could spread. "Make sure you don't touch the body, incase whatever killed her could be transferred. If not something like a virus.....Still best to be safe than sorry." He said loud enough for those who were also expecting the body.

Pyro

Pyro looked over to the refreshments table. Curious. Why didn't the girl want anything from there? Unless there was something wrong with it, and she didn't want to catch something from it.

He tapped Angela on the shoulder, pointing at it before making a gesture of something not exactly right. And that they should inspect it. Afterall, he didn't want to get rid of the entire table, plausibly angering people, just on a hunch.
