Frank's anger was disrupted by Ryan's question and Kinu's reasoning. The old man paused and growled at the pirate... and lowered his gun. "Threaten anyone else, scum, and you won't be walking out of here." Frank had lost one family. If anyone threatened his new one, he'd likely kill them no matter who they were. "He's a bad guy, Ryan." Though, when he looked over the three, Rin, Ryan and Kinu, something in his eyes softened notably. As did his tone when he next spoke. "Sorry," The old man said almost meekly.

"Anyway... we should go. Don't wanna prolong the end of the two worlds as we know it."

Just another day in the life.

Making her way downstairs, expecting the others to follow, she'd wave over at Mari, Kirby, Annabeth, and whoever else was with Archer at the moment in the kitchen.

"Oi, you! Follow me. We have places to be, creepy priests to meet."

And with that, began making her way to the Church.

Frank looked at Kinu and Ryan. "Stay close to me. Kotomine... isn't to be trusted. I'm sure you can guess why."

If I had my way, he'd be dead.

Ryan was hesitant, but offered a slow nod. However, she didn't seem quite convinced; by this point, it was likely quite obvious that she trusted others way too excessively for her own good. And despite Frank's claims that the pirate was a bad guy.. She didn't quite seem sure of this. It was probably best to just try to keep an eye on her and make sure she didn't wander off, because of this... Otherwise, the kid would more than likely wind up way out of her depth; which, to be totally honest? She already had. "..You don't have to be sorry, Franky."

Without a word, Ryan followed the others down the stairs, quite happily. But, Frank's and Rin's statements about 'creepy priests' and Kotomine being 'not to be trusted' just went over the child's head. "Why? He seemed nice enough.. And he offered free food, too. That seemed nice, to me..."

Yeah.. Great.

Mid-Chapter Update

The Story So Far
After escaping from the massive assault on Einzbern Castle, headed by the presumed orchestrator of the Murder Game in question, Fiamma of the Right, you all find yourselves retreating to the nearby Fuyuki City, which was, strangely enough, completely empty for the most part. With that, you would all decide to split up and investigate the place to see just what was going on.

Those who would travel to the Emiya Residence would come into a brief clash with Saber, the mystical Servant of one Shirou Emiya, a young man who had been experiencing visions and dreams of his other incarnations throughout the multiverse participating in Murder Games just like the ones that you all found yourselves in right now, providing some more insight on the workings of the phenomena. With that, he would also treat some of the visitors to a meal, using his Reinforcement magecraft to increase the nourishment of the food and allow those who participated in the meal to regain some of their power. Perhaps even enough to use their Noble Phantasm.

Those who would make their way over to the Station Front would encounter a young woman named Caren Hortensia, who had arrived on the behalf of the Holy Church to oversee the Murder Game, stating that she has a dual agenda; finally meeting her long estranged father, Kirei Kotomine, a man that some are familiar with. Before they could get far though, a strange creature known as the Neco-Arc would steal Caren's hat, prompting them to get it back and subdue it before getting any further in their conversation.

Meanwhile, those who would travel to the Shopping District would encounter a certain priest who had offered them some mapo tofu. The priest in question, the familiar Kirei Kotomine who had also gone through his fair share of Murder Games, would comment on the number of Survivors that were around now, as well as the mystery of how the Murder Games were still going on, despite the effective death of the Arch Demon some time ago.

Those who went to the Tohsaka Residence would be split between investigating the kitchen and the bedroom. The players who went into the kitchen would come across a man who called himself Archer. After serving everyone present some tea, he would give his two cents, providing a hint on who he believes may or may not be the identity of one of the Traitors; in his own words, "a good killer is someone who does not flinch easily. Someone who would hardly even bat an eyelash while committing such an atrocity."

On the other hand, those who went to investigate the bedroom would find a certain girl named Rin Tohsaka locked in a magical chest, claiming that she was looking for a mystical weapon possibly capable of combating Fiamma of the Right, called the Kaleidoscope. Going with her into the magical chest would place everyone in a strange, cave-like place. Some ended up finding an interdimensional phone that was used to contact a young man named Motoharu Tsuchimikado, who talked of "a Level 0 picking a fight with the Accelerator" while the others had indeed found the Kaleidoscope. However, it quickly proved to be unreliable when all it would end up doing was transform Rin into a spunky magical girl, much to her chagrin once she would come to later.

Each and every one of these people would find themselves being led to the Church, where Kirei Kotomine appeared to be the source of all the information at the moment.

As you would all make your way to the Church on the hill, taking the bridge on the way, the sun would quickly fall, and night would make itself known throughout the city. The warmth of the sun and the chirping of the birds were replaced by a chilling darkness and an eerie quiet. It was somewhat fitting, especially for those who knew just what the destination would entail.

And the man who was waiting for them there.

However, on the way there, you would come across a most unsettling sight before you all. Corpses. Upon closer inspection, they would turn out to be the dead bodies of Robin Tact and Minato Arisato. Of course, it was initially rather difficult to tell, given that they were both burned to a crisp. Further investigation would yield that one of the gas lamps was broken, and it had been broken recently as well. More specifically, the glass was broken and the light was completely out.

Who knew what that might mean? Could it be related to their deaths somehow?

"Damn, those Traitors have already made their move, huh? This isn't good..." Rin murmured to herself, "Looks like before we can move on, you guys will have to decide who amongst yourselves might be a Traitor, or else they might feel comfortable enough to pull another fast one on us. Kirei will have to wait... What a shame about that," she muttered sarcastically. Death wasn't something she exactly wanted to get used to, but when in something called a Murder Game... well, that was inevitable, it seemed.

In any case, it was debate and voting time. Go nuts.

Of course, Bee was smart enough to leave things be (get it, Bee "be").

"Er- I'm gonna leave this one to you guys."

Not to mention her attention was focused on a passing policeman eating a donut. mmm donuts..

Obviously this policeman was too focused getting on Bee's nerves to even help with the case. Too bad so sad.

Go nuts.

When Robin and Minato would come to, they would find themselves somewhat battered, stripped down to mostly just their undergarments, and chained to the wall. Where they would wake up... was a strange place. A dark chamber with a stairway leading up to God knows where, numerous smaller chambers, a stairway from below, God. What was this place?

But perhaps one thing that was stranger than the place you were in was the other stuff that was in the place with you two. Something probably unlike anything you've seen before.

1409375274528.png

On the floor appeared to be... strange worm-like creatures. More like a horrifying cross between a shark and a worm. What purpose did they serve? Who made these? Why? Being in this very place alone already seemed to ask a number of questions with no immediate answers, it seemed. Dying really was a pain.

Next to the two of you, you would see a familiar little girl in the same position as you, though fortunately, she didn't seem to be anywhere near as abused. Just a bruise or two, but at least she was still relatively intact.

OhESBiu.png

Illyasviel "Illya" von Einzbern.

"Ah, good. You're finally awake. Looks like you've just recovered from "dying" too," the girl said, greeting them briefly, "I'd ask how you're doing, but it looks like that would be a waste of breath. Unfortunately, I can't undo your shackles, as they seem to require a key that I do not have, and I can't break it, as my magecraft seems to be extremely weakened. Looks like I've been affected by my own Bounded Field as well."

Before she could say more, however, a door from upstairs would be heard opening, and an old man with a cane would be seen walking down the stairs, coughing lightly and muttering indistinctly to himself. Once he would stop in front of you two, his dead, white eyes would look at you with a less than pleased tone.

lHHXOCX.png

"... Ah. You're awake. What a shame," the old man muttered, "I assume you three are alright? Not uncomfortable in any way? Hmm?"

There goes my baby, movin' on down the line
Wonder where, wonder where, wonder where she is bound?
I broke her heart and made her cry
Now I'm alone, so all alone
What can I do, what can I do?

(There goes my baby) Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
(There goes my baby) Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(There goes my baby) Whoa-oh-oh-oh
(There she goes) Yeah! (There she goes)

I wanna know if she loved me
Did she really love me?
Was she just playing me for a fool?

I wonder why she left me
Why did she leave me so all alone
So all alone

The hell did Stubbs have to care for these two? In another timeline where Max hadn't reversed it, one of them had offered him some help after Super-Max had torn his hand off by mistake. But other than that Stubbs felt no real connection to them or to their deaths. One thing that was clear to him however was the composition of their bodies at the moment. Shambling closer and away from the group, Stubbs knelt down and took a nice long whiff.

"Brains."(Yup. They're Kentucky Fried Done.) Stubbs had seen this happen to a couple of his fellow zombies back in Punchbowl when the humans pulled out all the stops to try and stem the flow of the undead horde lead by the brain-eating salesman. But they were usually too stupid to feel the pain given that for some reason, they could survive without their limbs or even a head! Maybe nuking the city was for the best because sheesh.

Still it concerned Stubbs that someone could have been cruel enough to do something like this. Humanity stopped at nothing to try and rid Punchbowl of his kind. But these two were just trying to survive like the rest of these humans. What made them worth picking out and roasting like they were about to be served at someone's afternoon barbecue? More importantly would he be the next to go? Served up on a spitroast, maybe?

Shirou and Saber were equally as disgusted with Saber not even giving the bodies a sparing glance. She'd seen plenty of bloodshed in many battles. But the middle of the streets was no battlefield and there was no war. Just the utter depravity of some being with far too much power and too many innocent lives in their hands.

Stubbs idly wondered if their brains were still intact. What? He wasn't going to eat them! It'd be for research purposes! Maybe they could look through his memories for how he died? Or something? Yeah, that was it.

John stopped playing with his lighter, as if to try to keep himself from looking more suspect than he already was for this death by burning. He realized he might be getting votes anyway, but it was better to minimize the damage. "Any reason why these two would be dead? I mean, did anyone have a specific grudge with them?", he asked no one in particular, but everyone who was within earshot.

Kirby walked off and began deciding on who to vote for when the time came to vote.

"So... We died, second time for me in a Murder Game."

"Mhmm, same."

"So this must be the afterlife this time around."

"Wow, observation is certainly your strong point, isn't it?"

"Smartaleck," Robin bit back with a frown before testing their bounds. A quick shake confirmed his suspicions, that the shackles were well-made and wouldn't be broken so easily. If only I had brought a tome with me... He needed to really plan ahead for rejoining these Games the next time they escaped, it was quite a pain to have so few options. It would have certainly helped with dealing with the strange worms that seemed quite dangerous.

His head jerked away from the worm to Illya next as she spoke up finally, and he nodded, "It's quite alright, Miss von Einzbern. There's not much any of us three can do, it seems."

"Look, a living relic," It seemed Minato didn't exactly care if the old man heard him. Then again, they were in a position where things couldn't get much worse, so he didn't feel that he could do much more damage. As the old man finally stood before them and questioned their conditions, a quick rattling of his shackles showed his own views on their accommodations, "When's lunch time?"

Deoxys arrived on the scene just at the same time as everyone else, and seemed to halt at the human corpses just as everyone else. After a moment of looking, it identified the two dead humans as subject Minato and subject Robin; two humans that Deoxys had had contact with during this game. Deoxys did nothing for a while, simply staring at the corpses with its expressionless face. There were so many humans, the death of two of them is an acceptable casualty. Yet, there was something off with the death of Minato.

A strange feeling of coldness fell over Deoxys as its gaze refuses to budge from the sight of the two corpses. A discrepancy that lingered within its core and refused to leave, against its silent orders. A waste of something that could have been used, or could have even gone to do something more. Humans are ambitious, passionate and emotionally driven, as Deoxys had discovered, such ambition and thought thrown away is disturbing, even somewhat scary.

Sentience is a rare thing, and such life to develop is truly unlikely.

How is it such life can die so easily?

Was this a truly acceptable casualty?

Deoxys glanced down at its shimmering core as it thought about it..was this what sadness felt l--

Enough.

Deoxys immediately erased the thought from its mind. That is irrelevant and trivial, Deoxys lacks the time and security for emotional behavior, too much risk. Too much uncertainty. Yet, even then, Deoxys still took a moment to look at the other mourning humans.

Mid-Chapter Update

Continued from here.

Go nuts.

"Every battle a puzzle and my purpose to find its answer, a murder game no different, but they knew. Can't die now, have to fight back, have to fight, can't... without... her... dead."

Cole was just... there again, kneeling quietly over the bodies with the same placid look that he always had on his face. His eyes glanced up to towards the gas lamp with the same expression. "Death poured upon others, the same with suspicion, they will not catch me, I will win... Fire used so that those without fire would be free."

He stood up and was gone again, only to suddenly be standing next to the lamp post to study it more closely

"Hey, how about we..."

"Uhh, yeah, maybe we should..."

"Okay, this is getting..."

"SHUT UP!"

Max shockingly arose her right hand, the Retcon Queen tightening her clear blue eyes as time shifted slowly backwards before her. It was rare to see the brunette ever angry, and as selfish as it sounded, Max was not keen on showing off that image again. Voices still fiercely whispered in her head, beginning to finally piece together what had exactly been happening in the past few days at Blackwell Academy. Despite it being fuzzy, the canvas was laid finally before the artist awaiting eagerly for the artist to fill in the white if you will. Deeply breathing in through her nose, seconds reversed themselves, Max letting out an exhausted gasp afterwards.
"!PU TUHS"

"...gnitteg si siht yakO"
'Calm down..."

Shaking her head, Max quickly bit her tongue, avoiding making the same mistake of letting her anger get the better of her. She had seen it happen with Chloe far too many times, countless upon countless of mistakes. Some Maxine could fix, whether it be her frail life or her aching heart, yet Chloe suffered through a lot, more so than her. Guilt had forever racked Max due to that, and as such, she always felt as if kindness and compassion should always be in her heart. Even snobby, uptight bitches like Victoria don't deserve the same treatment back, as violence brews violence.

Looking over at Ryuko, briefly at Robin, Max awkwardly faked a cough, smiling softly.

"Sure, err, Ryuko was it? Does Ryu work? Reminds me of Street Fighter, ha, you look like you could fit the part...j-just kidding." Max smirked, softly joking with her probably out of taste joke. "I'm fine, just, you two, don't try n' kill each other, okay? That goes for y-..." Max falsely tried to encourage, not realizing the dramatic irony in her upcoming words. Boldly patting Ryuko's shoulder, the average, seemingly plain introvert turned to face Robin, flinching in brief horror as the man seemed to vanish. Growing eye-widen, Max glanced among the rest of the group, the photographer growing extremely worried, a sense of deju-vu brewing in her heart.

"Oh...no"

Max briefly looked at Ryuko, the upcoming graduate pulling her scrawny body away, tightening the strap on her ebony satchel bag. With her grey hoodie fluttering in the wind, Max pushed herself forwards as fast as she could, a taste of filth arising in her mouth. Something felt horrid in her heart, something grime and foul, the dim lights of this nearly abandoned bridge foreboding an ominous atmosphere. If Nathan Prescott was here, this would surely be one of his magnum opus, an empty, forgotten bridge with the outlines of two carcasses sprawled out on the concrete.

I can help them...I can save them, I have to...

Before Max could reach their decayed bodies, she reeled back at the stench, something far worse than the lovably creepy Stubbs. Burnt flesh and visecra hit her nostrils like a train, the teenager reeling to the bridge's handrails and proceeding to gag and spit into the waters below. Feeling her body tremble, the sight of death racking at Max's mind, she shook her head, her voice starting to grow to a whimper.

"H-How did I get here...H-How is my p-powers and Arcadia Bay t-tied into all of this?"

A question of many, yet answers are often few.

The hell was up with this guy? Stubbs had seen him pop occasionally during their time in the mansion but hadn't gotten much time to interact with him. If he wanted to do something nice for the bodies then good on him. The zombie wasn't about that life. He just wanted to get to the bottom of who killed these two so he could avoid the same thing possibly happening to him.

Also, what was up with that hat? That was a nice hat.

"Brains?" (Who do you think did this, guy?) He doubted Cole would understand him but the least he could do is try.
