Murder Game XVI: The Time Crisis (IC)

Mid-Round Update

As the enemies that had met those recovering the tablets were defeated... They found themselves gathered together once more, at the room from whence they came, where they re-united with that woman from before.

Gathering in front of the sealed door from before, she eyed the panels above once more... Which had symbols engraved above, more visible now since the room had been lit up a bit brighter this time.

To recap; there were six panels, each seeming to be inactive above the door, for now... But interestingly enough, they seemed to correspond to the number of tablets the group now carried with them. They had recovered a total of six after all, a yellow, and a black one from the room with what appeared to have been a time gate, the room to the east. From the room to the north, a red, and a white tablet were recovered from an ancient, but apparently powerfull machine, and lastly... From the room to the west, a green, and blue tablet were recovered from some monstrious beast that had been guarding the room.

"The tablets unlock the door... If they are activated in the right order." She explained, tapping a button near the door.

The panels flickered to life, white colored symbols flickering to life across each one, from the left to the right; what looked like a flame, a rock, a leaf, a symbol that seemed to be waves of some sort, a crescent symbol, and finally, a star-like symbol.


"What lies beyond this door, is the final trigger. Our journey is almost over." She added, and though she tried to retain a more neutral expression, one might be able to catch a look of relief on her face.

Looks like they were at the home stretch; this whole crazy event would soon be over.

There was not much else for Dorian to comment on. As far as he could tell, Shichika had the door mechanism down. Dorian believed himself an expert on the matter, for he had pressed enough buttons and put enough ancient items into crevices to practically be a door opening savant at this point.

Hey, at the very least they got a name, right?

When Shichika tried to mess around with the tablets, placing them onto the respective panels, he discovered that the panels did not have slots to fit the tablets onto. However, thanks to a little direciton from Shion, when the red tablet was held up for a moment, followed by the white tablet. Each respectively glowed, and a red glow shone across the farthest left panel, with the flame symbol on it, but then a white glow shone across the next panel, the one with the rock symbol, followed by a sudden bleeping noise as all the panels blinked...

Then, the panels returned to their initial state, with the respectve symbols from before shining on them, and the first and second panel no longer glowing red or white, respectively.

Looks like they had to hold up the tablets in a certain order, though Emily, the woman who had met them here in the first place decided to pitch in, offering a little help.

"The combination has changed... But the components remain the same..." She said, pausing for a moment before looking up at the panels bearing the symbols again.

"I was told the combination was based off of six elements that once permeated this world; when you call upon them in the right order, but I don't recall their names..." She added, frowning as she rubbed her chin a little.

Well, looks like they at least had something going for them, and Shion, who had used the red, and white tablet earlier might just have an idea what at least two of the elements Emily mentioned was... But it may just be a matter of trial and error to figure out the elements which the other tablets represented.

There was still the black, green, yellow, and blue ones to identify, though it wouldn't hurt to check the red and white ones again....

Gutrot's analysis showed that the substance coating the spikes were something a little more than just corrosive acids; whatever the black, viscious stuff was... It seemed alive somehow...

Nonetheless, his mixture of chemicals appeared to stave off its acidic properties for now, but, it didn't look like it would work for long, as it would appear that the substance only stiffened temporarily, slowly but surely becoming viscous again. Ben's new form had bought the group some time, but not too much by the looks of it.

On the upside, the substance was incapacitated for just enough time for everyone to shake off the spiky projectiles that had hit them in one form or another.

The flammable gasses gutrot unleashed towards the creatures was met with a gas of their own... One that seemed to be acting like a powerfull sedative, but before it could fully take effect, the blue haired woman rushed forwards... Raising her hands as she concentrated, unleashing a torrent of flames towards the gasses Gutrot had spewed forth, causing them to ignite, and burn away at many of the creatures on the mountainside, some even outright being killed, thanks in part to A2, and a few others' efforts earlier.

In this commotion, the woman hurriedly lead the others towards the cave, nodding a little, despite looking a little torn about leaving Ben behind, as he guided the attention of the surviving shelled creatures away from the cave... Casting one last spell on him before they separated, which would temporarily speed up Ben's movements while it was active...

Then, when everyone made their way inside the cave, minus Ben of course... She quickly cast one last spell, closing her eyes and concentrating as she unleashed a blinding burst of searing, white light outside, which demolished part of the cave roof, and caused it to collapse, sealing everyone inside for the time being.

Everyone's vision was obscured for a moment, as the dust slowly settled, but when it finally did, a faint, blue glow could be seen, at the center of the area...

A blue, crystaline shard of some sort appeared to be the source of it. Looks like they had found their artifact, but while that was going on, the blue haired woman appeared to be looking around for something else, something that was apparently a little more important than this artifact was...​

Sonic had been very silent for the time being. Even with Blaze's words of encouragement, the hedgehog still blamed himself for the death's that had transpired.

These were just a few of the things that crossed the hedgehog's mind as they traversed through this afterlife. But, eventually, Sonic came to the realization that he should stop feeling sorry for himself and do what he could to stop the people causing this! Yeah, we're Sonic He-

WHAM!

A split second later, Sonic was knocked out cold by whatever beast they had just fought. Sonic soon awoke in a cave, however, and immediately took notice of the blue shard. Without a second thought, Sonic picked up the shard. The hedgehog then turned to the blue haired woman and held the shard out to her.

"Hey, do you know what this thing does?" Sonic asked, either ignoring or completely oblivious to the fact that she was looking for something else entirely.

"Hm. Perhaps the symbols correspond like this: since red is flames, black is rock, green is leaf, blue is waves, white is the crescent, and the yellow is the star. So, if we go by that logic, even if the order has changed it may just work." he spoke. It was a guess, but the closest he's come to figuring this out so far.

Now all he needed was help with seeing if this worked or not.

Ben's new form had bought the group some time, but not too much by the looks of it.

On the upside, the substance was incapacitated for just enough time for everyone to shake off the spiky projectiles that had hit them in one form or another.

The flammable gasses gutrot unleashed towards the creatures was met with a gas of their own... One that seemed to be acting like a powerfull sedative, but before it could fully take effect, the blue haired woman rushed forwards... Raising her hands as she concentrated, unleashing a torrent of flames towards the gasses Gutrot had spewed forth, causing them to ignite, and burn away at many of the creatures on the mountainside, some even outright being killed, thanks in part to A2, and a few others' efforts earlier.

In this commotion, the woman hurriedly lead the others towards the cave, nodding a little, despite looking a little torn about leaving Ben behind, as he guided the attention of the surviving shelled creatures away from the cave... Casting one last spell on him before they separated, which would temporarily speed up Ben's movements while it was active...

Then, when everyone made their way inside the cave, minus Ben of course... She quickly cast one last spell, closing her eyes and concentrating as she unleashed a blinding burst of searing, white light outside, which demolished part of the cave roof, and caused it to collapse, sealing everyone inside for the time being.

Everyone's vision was obscured for a moment, as the dust slowly settled, but when it finally did, a faint, blue glow could be seen, at the center of the area...

A blue, crystaline shard of some sort appeared to be the source of it. Looks like they had found their artifact, but while that was going on, the blue haired woman appeared to be looking around for something else, something that was apparently a little more important than this artifact was...​

As everyone had left as requested, Gutrot felt a rush of energy flowing through him as the spiny creatures walked over him, their bodies sealing him up. This rush of energy assured Gutrot that the allies he made wanted him alive, and alive he shall be.

"OK Omnitrix, one more alien... I ain't havin' any accidental transformations... 'cos I'm not dyin' today, ya hear?" Gutrot says as he slams the Omnitrix down as a flash of green light ensues, allowing him to transform into his next selected form...

Ben had promised to join them later, but what if he didn't? Many thoughts rushed through Buddy's mind, mostly involving the worrying possibility of Ben not making it. Tears fell down his eyes.

Ben had promised to reunite with them soon.

Wiping the tears off his eyes with his bushy tail, Buddy waited for the comrade that accepted him into a home when he lost his. He will never accept that his ally had fallen to the hands of death.

Gutrot's analysis showed that the substance coating the spikes were something a little more than just corrosive acids; whatever the black, viscious stuff was... It seemed alive somehow...

Nonetheless, his mixture of chemicals appeared to stave off its acidic properties for now, but, it didn't look like it would work for long, as it would appear that the substance only stiffened temporarily, slowly but surely becoming viscous again. Sonic had been very silent for the time being. Even with Blaze's words of encouragement, the hedgehog still blamed himself for the death's that had transpired.

These were just a few of the things that crossed the hedgehog's mind as they traversed through this afterlife. But, eventually, Sonic came to the realization that he should stop feeling sorry for himself and do what he could to stop the people causing this! Yeah, we're Sonic He-

A split second later, Sonic was knocked out cold by whatever beast they had just fought. Sonic soon awoke in a cave, however, and immediately took notice of the blue shard. Without a second thought, Sonic picked up the shard. The hedgehog then turned to the blue haired woman and held the shard out to her.

"Hey, do you know what this thing does?" Sonic asked, either ignoring or completely oblivious yo the fact that she was looking for something else entirely.

A2 pointed out the woman's actions once they got here. The artifact did look in important, garnering an unknown structure given from her internal scans, but something about the woman's behavior gave off the impression that there's more.

"Emily. I... Was waiting for you" She said, raising a brow at Shichika's question.

Hey, at the very least they got a name, right?

When Shichika tried to mess around with the tablets, placing them onto the respective panels, he discovered that the panels did not have slots to fit the tablets onto. However, thanks to a little direciton from Shion, when the red tablet was held up for a moment, followed by the white tablet. Each respectively glowed, and a red glow shone across the farthest left panel, with the flame symbol on it, but then a white glow shone across the next panel, the one with the rock symbol, followed by a sudden bleeping noise as all the panels blinked...

Then, the panels returned to their initial state, with the respectve symbols from before shining on them, and the first and second panel no longer glowing red or white, respectively.

Looks like they had to hold up the tablets in a certain order, though Emily, the woman who had met them here in the first place decided to pitch in, offering a little help.

"The combination has changed... But the components remain the same..." She said, pausing for a moment before looking up at the panels bearing the symbols again.

"I was told the combination was based off of six elements that once permeated this world; when you call upon them in the right order, but I don't recall their names..." She added, frowning as she rubbed her chin a little.

Well, looks like they at least had something going for them, and Shion, who had used the red, and white tablet earlier might just have an idea what at least two of the elements Emily mentioned was... But it may just be a matter of trial and error to figure out the elements which the other tablets represented.

There was still the black, green, yellow, and blue ones to identify, though it wouldn't hurt to check the red and white ones again....

"Welp, looks like Ben's dead." Birdie took out one of his cans of soda and popped it open. "Too bad, too. He was an awright kid." Pouring the soda on the ground in an act of tribute to the Omnitrix user, Birdie mentally added, Better him than me.

Noembelu, meanwhile, noticed the Eevee muster its courage. It was sad, really; Ben must've been akin to its owner. Carefully walking to the Pokemon, Noembelu kneeled down, offering her hand. Hopefully Buddy wouldn't be scared off...

The young Eevee let out a weak smile as Noembelu closed in on him.

Meanwhile, through the crevices of the rubble that blocked the entrance of the cave, what appeared to be paper bandages attempted to slide through. These bandage-like objects, appearing to be yellow and sandy in texture. These bandages seemed to be stuck in the rubble.

The fact that these bandages were moving without wind would imply that they were... alive.

Buddy swiftly shot a card-like projectile at the rubble, chipping it away to make the bandages move much easier.​

The order of the tablets being raised caused a distinct set of colors to flash across the panels, from left to right, overlaying the symbols; Red, Black, Green, Blue, White, Yellow, each color having a distinct note... It sounded like it could have formed a melody of some sort... But there were a few notes that felt... Off, somehow.

A sudden bleep emanated from the door once more, and the panels that bore the colors black, white, and yellow suddenly had a light red "X" symbol flash upon them before the panels went blank again... And the symbols shone onto them once more..

Close... But not quite, or so it seemed.

The woman seemed to have found what she was looking for right now, but it seemed like her hands had stopped in mid-air... Though after a moment, the spot her hands had rested suddenly began to crackle, and a familiar shape took form.

It looks like they had found some sort of timegate, or so it seemed here... The first one they had seen in this place, minus the tear through dimensions the woman herself had made perhaps, at least for those who had first arrived here. In response to what both A2 and Sonic had asked her, glancing at the shard Sonic held, she nodded.

"When the time comes... This artifact will lead us to our final destination; Emnity himself... I can only hope we are in time..." She said frowning a little.

Though she didn't seem to say anything about Ben's absense, she did give Buddy a side-glance... A sad look seeming to linger on her face, before she averted her gaze, turning it towards the timegate...

All they had to do now... Was wait.​

The mysterious bandages that lingered on the rubble crevices successfully squeezed through as a voice emerged from them. While in front of the others, they merged and wrapped around each other, seeming to form something, a humanoid shape.

In a matter of seconds, what appeared to be an ancient Egyptian Mummy was formed. The emblem on the 'undead' being's belt area was a giveaway as to who it was.

"Any of you called for their mummy?" the bandaged being joked.

"Skree!" Buddy jumped into the mummy's arm-like appendages as he licked his head-like shell affectionately.

"There, there, good boy," the mummy said as he pet the Eevee, before a flash of green light engulfed him, turning him back into a familiar-looking face.

"Maybe I would've come sooner if I chose Ghostfreak instead, sorry for taking so long guys," Ben says as he reappears in front of everyone, taking the place of the mummy. He then looks at the timegate that was prepared.

Looking at his Omnitrix, Ben commented, "I guess a little time to let it cool down should work. If Emnity's anything like those guys out there times a billion, I'm gonna have to bring out my A-game."

Connor paused when he saw that they had gotten it wrong. It seemed that they were right about some of them. The Red, green and blue tablets were right, but no so much for the black, white and yellow tablet. So, if the black tablet was not rock, the white was not crescent and the yellow was not the star. He paused, thinking about this discovery.

If all three of them were wrong, then there had to be something he was missing. Yellow didn't seem to fit the crescent which left it as rock, which didn't make sense to him. Black was not rock and it didn't seem to fit crescent, but maybe it was. Stars did shine white in the night sky.

He reexamined the panel. " Perhaps, we should try it where red is fire, blue is ocean, green is leaf, yellow is rock, black is crescent and star is white, if that isn't right, then there is only one combination left," he said to the others.

Shichika really didn't get how to solve this puzzle, so he just turned to the mysterious girl from before who was there for some reason in this facility.

"Hey, could you help us out some more? Have any idea on what the answer is, at least? We really need to get a move on. Got places to be."
