Murder Game XIII – Restless in Rapture

Premise

You find yourself waking up on a wet damp floor. Looking around you'd find more people in the same state you are, some more peculiar looking then others.

Some more investigation reveals you're some place unknown to you. As you try to make sense of your surroundings you hear the sound of static emitting from a nearby radio, as well as the sound of an unknown voice. It explains to you that you are in a city under the sea called Rapture. How such a large number of people could enter this city with out its denizens or importantly its leader not knowing about it is a mystery.

The voice in the radio tells you that there is a way to escape this place but it will be perilous and it is very likely that everyone will not survive. So you venture forth, wondering how this group will work together...and who will end up killing who first.

Welcome to the sign up thread for Murder Game XIII – Restless in Rapture! New and old players are welcome to join in on the fun!

Roles - Those familiar with the Murder Games would probably expect me explaining the different roles I'm using this game right about now. Restless in Rapture however will have a little twist in that regard.

There will be no traditional roles. Instead any player can send in a kill to potentially eliminate someone else in the group.

What makes it even more different is the fact that the kills will happen in real time. By that I mean the players themselves need to create their distractions on top of planning a kill that wont directly single them out as a murderer. If you send in a sloppy kill the likelihood of being caught is high, but if you play it smart you might just get away with murder.

To expand on what I just said. By that I mean if you tell me that you're planning to kill someone and don't want to be caught you really need to plan it out.

Let's say someone's playing Sansa Stark and they tell me that she's going to use a knife to stab Solid Snake to death.

If that's the only thing I get as a kill it will most likely fail because first of all there's no distraction to not alert anyone else near them, Snake could rather easily disarm her or maybe she'd manage to harm him, but do to doing it in the open she'd be stopped.

So what I'm basically saying is that if you don't want to be caught or down right fail to kill someone you need to be clever about it.

Character requirementsInstead of weakening characters there's going to be limit in power to street level. Basically the level cap would be someone like Spider-man, though there could obviously be a discussion about adds if you aren't quite sure your character fits the criteria.

No duos allowed. If everything falls into place this will end up a very hectic game so it will help me and my Co-Gms considerably. Also there will be a cap on five Original Characters.

Rules

1. As previously mentioned this MG will operate a bit differently from past games and that goes the same for the rounds as well. If I receive a kill there will be a kill update, but otherwise the only round updates there will be is when the players move into a new area.

2. Being around a month means that the rp will most likely be very hectic. I'd encourage people to post at least once a day or every other day to stay up to date.

3. Absolutely NO god-mod, metagame, powerplay, and/or having Mary/Marty Sue OC's. If you aren't sure whether your next post is god-modding or not, it's better to ask in the 'General Chat thread before posting the reply. Better safe than sorry.

4. We completely understand if you're busy or have things going on that you need to deal with or need breaks from the roleplay. It happens to the best of us. Please, though, if you have the chance to at least let us know beforehand you'll be gone, please do. It helps with knowing what needs to be done with characters that are currently with yours.

5. Do your best with spelling and grammar, please. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it needs to be understandable.

6. If there is an IC fight it is okay to freeform, but keep in mind that the Gms and Co-Gms have the last word on anything if something is considered suspect.

7. This should go with out saying but there will be no ooc killing allowed. Don't be dicks please.

8. This thread will be solely for discussion about this game and for signups. This keeps the thread from getting cluttered by pointless fluff that just clutters the thread up.

9. All Iwaku rules apply, obviously.

10. There WILL be character death. You can be killed by both the hazards your character will face and from other players if they feel so inclined! Even in death however there is still an opportunity to have some fun.

11. This is a group rp, so don't assume that you personally have a leading role. Everyone is pulling on the same rope and doing their best.

12. I will definitely recommend having at least one interaction partner selected for the game. This assures your character has someone to interact with for at least the starting period. Though, this is not required!

13. My Co-GMs are @Minerva @Verite @Ringmaster and @Josh M. Please treat them all with respect, just as you should all treat each other!

14. Make sure you've read and agreed to all the rules listed, obviously.

15. In this post, further down, there is a format for CSs. Your CS will need to using this format, with any additional fields you wish to add. Once you've applied and been accepted, you're in!

Sign-ups will be open until Monday 27th.

If you read the rules and understood them, would you kindly say so at the end of your sheet?

To get the ball rolling I'll do my app for the NPC that will be hanging the most with the group.

Appearance:
276px-Symmetra-portrait.png

Name: Satya Vaswani aka Symmetra
Age: 28
Canon: Overwatch
Biography: Following the Omnic Crisis, the Vishkar Corporation of southern India began the laborious process of creating new, self-sustaining cities to house the nation's displaced population. One such city, Utopaea, was created using radical hard-light technology that enabled its architects to shape the city's streets, utilities, and living spaces in the blink of an eye.

After she was identified as one of the few capable of becoming a light-bending architect, young Satya Vaswani was plucked from extreme poverty and placed in the care of Vishkar's architect academy, never to return home. Isolated and lonely in her new life, Satya immersed herself in her education and training. She quickly grasped the applications of the technology and was one of the top students in her class. Satya approached hard-light manipulation differently than her peers, with their more procedural, mechanical constructions, instead weaving her constructs in the motions of the traditional dance of her homeland.

Though she was one of Utopaea's top architects, the Vishkar Corporation saw far greater potential in Satya's abilities. Giving her the moniker "Symmetra," Vishkar sent her on clandestine missions around the world to uphold its corporate interests and expand its influence into other countries.

Symmetra believes her actions serve the greater good in society. But there are times when she wonders whether the control and order she desires are truly best for humanity.

Strengths/Abilities: Normal human levels. Able to manipulate hardlight constructs.

Equipment:

Photon Projector - Fires a beam of continues energy or fires a charged ball of energy .

Name
Carol Peletier

Age
Mid to late 40s

Canon
The Walking Dead

Biography/Personality
Since the onset of the undead apocalypse, Carol has transformed from a meek woman to a warrior who isn't afraid to take matters into her own hands. Carol was a survivor even before the world went to hell, living with an abusive husband who led her to develop certain habits in order to live. Since then, after the deaths of her husband and daughter, Carol has developed and changed herself into the woman she felt she was always supposed to be but had been limited by her past life. Behind Carol's fearlessness lies a loving and motherly woman who will try to carry the burdens of those she cares for.

Having developed a sense of cunning and intelligence, Carol always has a plan in her head, ready to implement it in order to protect herself or those she cares for. She is able to easily put on a mask, either in order to obfuscate her true strength or lead others into doing what she wants. Due to her experiences, Carol has become a guarded individual who isn't quick to trust others. She can be very harsh to just about everyone, but that doesn't mean she can't be understanding as well. Despite the trauma she's been through, she doesn't try to let on that she's ever anything but fine.

Though willing to get her hands dirty if she has to, it doesn't mean it doesn't have an adverse affect on Carol. She is haunted by the people she's killed, keeping lists to remember every single one. Carol knows that in the apocalypse you need to kill in order to protect the ones you love, but then isn't it better to love no one at all? Carol can be closed off at times, even cruel, if it means not increasing the amount of people she has to kill for.

Carol has sacrificed a lot and lost a lot, losing pieces of herself in the process. It's taken a toll on her, but she's still surviving, no matter how hard it becomes. She may not come off as a threat to most, but Carol is most definitely a dangerous woman in her own way.

Strengths/Abilities
Carol may not look like much, but she is a headstrong woman, hardened by the new world she was thrust into. She has been trained and is familiar with a number of weapons, including firearms and bladed weapons. She has become extremely comfortable with a weapon in her hand.

Due to experience in both her past life and her post-apocalyptic life, Carol is knowledgeable in how to address many different kinds of wounds and injuries. She even has an understanding of how to amputate limbs properly.

Often overlooked by others, Carol has many opportunities to observe others. She's clever enough to watch the people around her and gauge their personalities, feelings, and allegiances. She can formulate plans of action on the fly.

As a middle-aged woman, Carol already lives with a sort of disguise around her. Few would expect she was capable of being a threat or could even imagine the things she has had to do to survive. Adding to this, Carol can put up a front for others, acting in a way that obscures her true nature. Often, Carol will act the useless housewife in order to hide her true strength and blend with others better.

Of course, Carol actually can cook very well. She's resourceful and good at making use of the limited resources the new world offers her.

Equipment
- Hunting Knife
- Glock 17 pistol

Weaknesses
Carol has a history of trauma and abuse behind her. Carol can be very sensitive to the topic of abuse as a result, acting in a manner that she might normally not do so. She can find sympathy and mercy in people she might otherwise be willing to divorce herself from killing, or expose herself as being more headstrong than she lets on if confronted by someone who participates in abuse.

Carol has had traumatic experiences involving children, including losing a daughter to the apocalypse and losing two more that she agreed to take care of later. One of the girls she agreed to take care of murder her sister, wanting to prove that the undead were people too. The girl also wanted to kill a baby as well, leading Carol down the heartbreaking path of realizing the second girl was not safe to be around. Not wanting the girl to suffer, Carol was forced tot ake the matter into her own hands and kill the girl. This action alone greatly scarred Carol, who refuses to speak of the deaths to even her closest allies. It's due to the above reasons that Carol greatly distances herself from any children she meets, even being cruel to them if she has to. It's not a side of her that Carol is easily able to keep up, but she refuses to drop the veil, unwilling to allow her heart to break yet again.

Despite the fact that Carol has had to kill many during the apocalypse, it is not something she relishes in, deep down. The guilt of her kills greatly weighs on her mind, and Carol thinks poorly of herself as a result. She has hardened herself to do what others wouldn't dare to, and this has led Carol to be a rash and stubborn woman.

Despite her experience and inner strength, Carol is still a middle-aged woman. She is simply not going to have the physical strength and overcome bigger and younger men and women in a physical altercation.

[spoili]14. Make sure you've read and agreed to all the rules listed, obviously.[/spoili]

Name: Lady Bow

Age: Despite being "dead", Bow is supposedly a young adult

Canon: Paper Mario

Biography: Lady Bow is the leader of an independent group of boos who call an abandoned mansion in the Forever Forest their home. She and her followers are entirely disloyal to Bowser and the Koopa Troop. As such, Bow is a strong leader, if not a bit snooty and stubborn because of her position and status among boos. She isn't a stranger to hardship, however, as she and her boos face constant threats living in an area highly populated by monsters of all kinds. Most notably, the ghost-gobbler known as Tubba Blubba, who devoured the population of her followers living in Gusty Gulch.

Strengths/Abilities:

Outta Sight: Basically, she can make herself and one other person completely "transparent" (invisibility + people/things can pass through them) for an unlimited amount of time...as long as they both stand still. The transparency breaks upon movement, or if Bow manually cancels this power.

Spook: As a boo, Lady Bow can very easily scare most people, animals and monsters into submission. Naturally, this ability makes Lady Bow rather intimidating even when she isn't using her powers. However, those of a stronger will (in other words, "boss characters") aren't affected.

Being a boo also comes with the general perks that ghosts/spirits have (levitation, no bodily needs, etc.) though she can very well be injured, oddly enough.

Equipment:

hqdefault.jpg

Lady Bow's only piece of equipment is the posh fan she uses, both as a piece of fashion, and as a weapon of mass destruction. When using it as a weapon, she smacks her foe with it repeatedly, and with surprising speed and power; an attack she can also perform unarmed.

Oh, and uh, I read the rules. Weeeeeeeeeeee

"I need to protect... Yonah... at all costs..."

-Name-
Nier

-Age-
21

-Canon-
NieR Replicant

-Biography-
With his father gone missing and his mother dead, Nier takes care of his little sister Yonah at one of the few villages left throughout the world, which is being ravaged by swarms of Shades, shadowy monsters that kill and steal the bodies of humans. The villagers lend Nier with many tasks and jobs so he could have the supplies and money to support Yonah, who is always sickly at every turn.

One night, Nier tells Yonah a story about a flower called the Lunar Tear, telling her that it can grant any wish for a person that's been really good. Yonah asks if it can cure her sickness, and he tells her that it can. However, the next day, Yonah goes missing, and has given Nier the idea that she's gone off to look for a Lunar Tear in the Old Shrine not too far from the village. He manages to find her, along with finding a mysterious magical book called Grimoire Weiss, defeating the Shades that happened to take her hostage. After all of that, they discover that Yonah's sickness was the Black Scrawl, which Grimoire Weiss says to be fatal for her. This pushes Nier to travel the world in hopes of finding a cure to Yonah's fatal condition with the Black Scrawl.

Once Nier and his party, consisting of Grimoire Weiss, Kainé, and Emil, return to the village after finding a suitable cure to Yonah's sickness, they discover that the village had been suddenly attacked by a massive swarm of Shades, and that the village's townspeople were nowhere to be found. Fearing the worst has happened to Yonah while they were gone, Nier rushes to their household, ready to protect Yonah from the dangers that had fallen upon their once peaceful town.

-Strengths/Abilities-
Without the magical assistance of Grimoire Weiss, Nier is skilled with armed combat, especially with a sword of some kind. Whether it be a small or large blade, his experience of fighting the Shades had allowed him to become a master of sword-wielding. Before the Shade infestation, Nier is a skilled hunter, being the supplier of food and animal hides whenever his village needed some. Meaning, he knows how to stalk his hunting prey, and how to effectively eliminate them when the chance was right.

-Equipment-
Nier has only two of his weapons equipped.

230

Nameless Blade: A blade that was given to him by his father before he disappeared. Due to its light frame, this sword is better suited for quick and rather clean encounters, such as hunting animals rather than actual combat.

75

Beastlord: Found in his last venture before finding his way back to his ruined village. To fill up the weakness that his first sword brings, this greatsword is best for combat situations due to the strength required to wield this two-handed sword.

~Ju obviously didn't forget about the whole thing about the rules while writing up this application, so yeah, she totally read those rules, don't worry. owo~

IT'S TIME

Appearance

OnoYXS0.png

Name

Gwen Stacy, also known as Spider-Woman

Age

At least 18 years old

Canon

Marvel Comics

Biography

Born in the universe Earth-65 and raised by Captain George Stacy of the NYPD, gifted high school student Gwen Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider which would grant her amazing powers, making her beyond any human around her. Shortly after battling and accidentally killing her childhood friend Peter Parker, who had created a formula that turned him into his universe's version of The Lizard, Gwen was inspired to don the moniker of Spider-Woman to protect the people of New York City from future threats like what Peter had become.

She was a part of the rock band known as the Mary Janes, acting as the drummer, though a number of complications has since caused her to quit.

During the events of Spider-Verse, sometime during her adventures as a new superhero, she was recruited by Spider-UK, a Spider-Man from an alternate world, to fight the evil Inheritors that threatened the Spider-Men of the multiverse. After the ordeal, she managed to return home safely and returned to her life of ordinary crime-fighting.

Gwen has since graduated from high school and is currently attending college.

Strengths / Abilities

Superhuman traits - As a result of her spider-powers, Gwen possesses great strength, presumably on the level of Spider-Man of Earth-616. It is known that she can lift up to 10 tons (or 20,000 pounds), and assumed that her physical attacks are up to Building Level. She can also run faster than, react faster than, and endure more physical punishment than other humans ever would be able to.

Spider-Sense - Like the original Spider-Man, she possesses a "Spider-Sense" that essentially acts as short-term precognition to warn her of immediate danger heading her way, like an enemy charging at her from behind, a surprise attack from the shadows, etc. Coupled with her heightened reflexes, this is a very useful ability for Gwen.

Gifted - When it comes to fields such as mathematics and sciences, notably biology and physics, Gwen is considered exceptionally intelligent. She is also decent at detective work, for what it's worth.

Spider Physiology - As expected of someone with her powers, she can stick to just about any surface. In addition to allowing her to climb walls, she can also firmly stick herself to the ground, rendering her practically immune to potential obstacles like, say, a giant vacuum. In other words, this can be described as "perfect balance and equilibrium."

Equipment

Web shooters, a phone, an iPod, and headphones.

Her web shooters come in cartridges, and while she has to replace the cartridges every now and then due to them naturally running out of webbing to shoot, she still has quite a lot of them.

Weaknesses

Presumably the pesticide ethyl chloride, due to it also being Spider-Man's weakness.

Also, despite the fact that Gwen is physically rather strong, she is in actuality completely unskilled in any sort of fighting style or martial art, technically speaking, aside from watching a lot of Kung fu movies.

I diddly do understand the rules!

Name: Cody Travers
Age Late twenties
Canon: Street fighter/ Final fight
Biography

In Final Fight, Cody is depicted as being a combative, reckless but ultimately positive and good-natured man, having a powerful sense of justice and love for his girlfriend, Jessica. However, in his Street Fighter appearances, after breaking up with Jessica, losing touch with his friends and spending several years in prison, Cody has become extremely apathetic and aloof. He remains pugnacious as ever, occasionally breaking out of prison just to fight and relieve his boredom, and often maintains his generally dismissive air - a major exception being when he finds an opponent that can entertain him.
He interprets his imprisonment as punishment for his ultimately good deeds, and even admits that the idea of achieving any constructive goal (such as overcoming rivals or taking care of family) is lost on him. Cody harbors some internal resentment towards the outside world, musing that he fought solely for the sake of Metro City but ended up imprisoned for it. According to his ending in the Street Fighter IV games, he feels at home in prison. Despite this, and as certain dialogue indicates, while Cody appears to have given up on fighting crime, he still retains his old sense of justice and an enduring (albeit subdued and exhausted) desire to oppose evil.
Strengths/Abilities: "Fighting dirty" Knife tricks, breaking out of prison, easily removing his handcuffs
Equipment Handcuffs, knife

I agreed to the rules.

Name: Jesse Custer

Age(or estimated guess): Mid-Late 20s

Canon(What fandom are they from?): Preacher TV series

Biography(at least a short synopsis): Born the son of John Custer, a war veteran and Texas preacher, and Christina L'Angelle, a troubled runaway, Jesse was raised with a love for cowboys and justice in relative peace for the first few years of his life before his mother's psychotic 'straight out of Deliverance' family hunted them down and dragged them to live under the tyrannical rule of the family matriarch Maria. His father shot in front of him due to an escape attempt and both he and Christina subjected to abuse the religiously-fanatical family, the young boy swore to never cry again as he was educated mostly by his mother and taught mechanics and how to shoot and beat a man to death by the sadistic Jody, his grandmother Maria's most trusted enforcer.

Jesse finally made his own escape attempt from the rule of Maria's iron fist in his late teens, succeeding and becoming a drifting criminal who survived by stealing expensive cars. During this time, he teamed up with the woman who would change his life, Tulip O'Hare, and the two fell in love as they went on a crime spree together. However, Jesse was eventually forced to run away without a word to Tulip due to unexplained reasons in the TV adaptation, disappearing from her life for several years as he took up preaching in a small town with an ungrateful congregation excluding his right-hand woman Emily who helps him manage the church. Most likely, this is due to the influence of the L'Angelle family as it was in the comics, but it has yet to be seen in the show if this is the truth.

The show opens on a cynical, alcoholic Jesse who is facing a crisis of faith as he remains uncertain that God is truly alive or even real due to the depressingly awful sins of various members of his congregation and the tragic circumstances of some of them such as Eugene, a teenager who attempted suicide by shotgun but survived to be called Arseface for his ruined facial appearance. During a bar altercation with Donny, one of his flock who beats his wife and who gets his arm broken by Jesse, and the man's friends, the preacher is arrested along with the Irish vampiric wanderer Cassidy who decides to live in the church as a handyman and the two become fast friends (even though Jesse doesn't believe Cassidy about his vampiric condition) while waiting for Emily to bail Jesse out of jail. That night, when Jesse arrives back at his church, he sits down in the pew and bows his head to pray one time to plead for God to speak with him again, only to be met with heart-breaking silence.

Finally giving up on God and lighting a cigarette as he leans back, the man heard banging at the door of his church and stood to see a force bust through. It carefully approached the preacher who stood gaping in awe, pushing pews aside to stand before Jesse for a moment, before slamming into the cynic and rendering him unconscious and feverish for three days. On that third day, he awoke from his sleep with a new purpose on his heart, deciding to try one last time to redeem both himself and the congregation of his church, while also unknowingly living with the half-angel, half-demon spirit known as Genesis inhabiting his body after attacking him three days earlier. At the same time, a familiar face from his past comes to town as Tulip begins to re-insert herself into Jesse's life, trying to lure him back to the life of crime to seek revenge on a man who dealt them both a bad hand in the past.

Strengths/Abilities: The Word of God - When his soul merged with the angel-demon entity Genesis, her powers were focused into what Jesse Custer would refer to as "The Word of God." When he uses the Word, his eyes turn red and his voice changes that sounds like "nails scraping against [your] soul." Although no one can resist his commands, his victims must be able to understand them. For example, animals would ignore his commands, and anyone unable to speak English would be unbeholden to the Word.

"It's like a gun, you keep it in reserve and only bring it out when you have to, that's good. When you start waving it in a receptionist's face, that's bad." - Jesse Custer

Physical Strength and Ability - Being taught to kill by the man who killed your father in front of you really sets your mind clear on what you're being taught, and Jesse took to fighting like a fish to water. Strong enough to break a man's arm bad enough to cause the bone to pierce the skin at a sharp angle with the right grip, the preacher was able to easily fight off a group of the man's friends with a smile on his face and a clear love for the violence he was a part of. Even more impressive was his ability to beat down the superhumanly strong and fast Cassidy in a straight fight simply due to greater skill until the vampire cheated and caught him with a sucker punch, because as Jesse put it, Cassidy had never been forced to learn to fight effectively.

Equipment: The Word of God, his preacher's outfit, and a cigarette lighter with the phrase "Fuck Communism" cut into it, a memento of his father.

(Eat your heart out, Jeremi, it's all for you, you Finnish bastard. : | Also, I do agree to the rules.)

Welp, that about answers it for me.

Lee Kwang Soo

Age(or estimated guess):

30

Canon(What fandom are they from?):

Real Life (or in more specific canon, Running Man)

Biography(at least a short synopsis):

Lee Kwang Soo is one of the 7 members of the cast of Running Man. In his early days, he was known for framing the other cast members with rumors. - Is able to act : although he tends to be overdramatic.

- Sabotager: likes to sabotage

Weaknesses (because i think it's important to state his downsides:

- Very Very Unlucky: There is a SHITTON of instances where he was unlucky. For example, there is a group of hardboiled eggs with one raw egg mixed in, and players must smash the egg towards their forehead, and whoever gets the raw egg loses.

- Weak : Although there are moments where he has a huge burst of strength, he is overall, weak, which is how he gets easily eliminated during games.

- Gets picked on easily.

- Unable to lie easily : He always smiles when he tells a lie, unless it is a very serious situation, like when he is a spy.

- Bad Karma: Whatever bad he does, it will get back at him.

Equipment (max 2 weapons):

The only equipment he will have is a water gun and his smartphone. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Kwangsoo can't speak much English so...
