Riley Gray

Ryleigh
Height-wise this woman is decidedly average. But it's her build that makes her stand out.
Riley sticks to a work-out routine that she follows strictly. She has always had a lean physique and she strives to maintain it. You wouldn't think it when you first take a look at her, which has caused many a man to underestimate her. She is agile and quick rather than strong. She knows the world she lives in now will not slow down for the weak and she will not be left behind. Her early life accustomed her to physical exercise, so now it's something she enjoys, a comforting part of daily routine - and it shows. Looking past the muscle though, you'll find two brown orbs above a slightly pointy nose. Her skin is slightly tan from the many hours she spends outside. Her expression is usually curious when you speak with her. Her brown eyes tends to make her come across as quite honest and genuine, usually accompanied by words that lend truth to that impression. Her hair is brown and usually braided or tied in a ponytail. She keeps it practical rather than beautiful, as the need for that outweighs the need and likelihood of any romantic endeavors. Generally she has a very natural look to her. Feminine beauty products are not as readily available anymore, but beauty is fortunately all in the eye of the beholder. Her hands are calloused and her fingers are long and strong, adept at tying knots and working quickly.
Dresses and stripper shoes don't do well when you're on the run. No, Riley dresses for practicality. You'll usually see her sporting a pair of good boots that can keep her feet dry and warm in almost any kind of weather. Moving up you'll usually see a pair of cargo pants made of a very tough material. She'll wear a v-neck t-shirt or a long sleeved shirt most of the time. If it's cold she'll wear a tight knitted sweater or a flannel shirt. Whenever she leaves the settlement she wears her leather bomber jacket. It keeps her warm and is very durable. Riley always carries a knife in her belt, the sheath of which also has a firesteel in it.
It's not something you see a lot anymore, but Riley has a nice smile. She has straight, white teeth and when bared in amusement it reaches her eyes. As there is little reason to smile anymore it is not something you see a whole lot of, but it happens from time to time. Due to the nature of their current way of life, she has various small cuts and scars on her body. She has a couple of big ones though, that required stitches. One is on her right side of her stomach and the other is just below her collarbone on her left side. Both measure roughly 4 inches in length, but have healed nicely to thin white lines.

tenor.gif
Early life for Riley Gray was as good as it could be. Her family was not wealthy, nor were they wanting anything. She had two brothers, one older and one younger. Being five people in their household had positive and negative sides. Riley would often play with her brothers when she was little, rather than play with other girls. This became somewhat of a pattern when they started school and all through her adolescence. Riley always played with the boys more so than the girls. She just found she had more in common with them and that it was more fun. It was more wild and physical.
An average student, she spent a lot of the time in the class room wishing she was outside. Early on she developed a deep and honest love for nature and all living things, and would often go into the woods or ask her father to go fishing. Having a more adventurous than academic soul and mindset, she quickly discovered that physical exercise made her feel in connection with and comfortable in her body. When she was little, she took dance lessons. As a teenager she practiced martial arts. If before she had been in doubt, after this she knew that some of the boys her age and their parents saw her as a wild child. Not necessarily a tomboy but a girl who could hold her own and who could play as rough as the boys. Her mother and father raised her in a strong belief that their children should be true to themselves and be who they are. So they never told her to behave more like a girl and to reign herself in. They encouraged that she sought what made her happy but cautioned her to be respectful to other people. When she came home on a motorcycle one day, all her father asked was if he could take a ride on it.

Only when she had forgotten to do her homework or scored a low grade did her parents reproach her. When she was young she didn't understand why, but it became clear that they, like any other parent, only wanted what was best for their children. But school, fishing trips and other trivial matters quickly became a thing of the past. A past that seemed so distant now.

Oryn Valahn

Male| Human | 28

1583607381387.pngAppearance: At first glance, Oryn doesn't strike the beholder as anything special. He is not a particularly imposing character and he isn't clad in expensive finery. But then again, not very many are in the Cursed Lands. No, he's of average height and build, though under his armor and clothes there is a core strength that often fools his opponents in combat. The armor is made of tough leather and covers his torso and thighs. If you get close enough, you'll notice signs of wear and tear. A few cuts from blades can be seen as well, but he makes a point of not letting an enemy get that close. Over it, he wears a dark blue surcoat that has begun to tear at the edges. His feet and calves are covered by thick, supple leather boots with a steel plate protecting the shin from ankle to knee. His shoulders are protected by leather spaulders, rimmed with steel. Across his chest runs a leather strap upon which you'll see pouches containing various items. Coins, flint and steel and more. Around his waist is a black sash and a thick leather belt from which his sword hangs. From his shoulders, a warm cloak hangs to shield him from the elements.

Oryn has jet black hair, cut short at the sides. He has steel blue eyes, thick brows and a straight nose. His lips are full and could look feminine if it wasn't for the grizzly scar that runs from the corner of his mouth and across his cheek. This isn't the only scar he has, though. It's quite clear that Oryn's brow has been split a couple of times as well. His face is a little weathered, though he is only twenty eight years old. He wears earrings, three iron rings in one ear and two in the other. He has straight teeth that are often visible in a crooked smile, if he's among other people. When alone, his brows are furrowed and his face serious.

Generally he looks exactly like what he is. Like someone who travels a lot; someone who spends most of his time on the roads of the Cursed Land. Oryn doesn't look like a fearsome brute or an elegant knight, but there is something about him that can be difficult to place. While he's friendly enough, there is a sense of uncertainty when you look at him. As if you can't quite judge how fast he is with that sword and how skilled he is. And that's exactly how he likes to keep it.

Brief History:

"I didn't choose to be born in this stinking shitpile of a country. But I'm here, so might as well make the best of it."

Ashfen. It's just as fucking depressing, bleak and gray as it sounds. But it's the first thing Oryn can remember. It's built on elven ruins like so many other towns in the Cursed Lands, the name of which no one can remember. This once great elven dwelling was destroyed hundreds of years ago, when the orcs and demons clashed in battle. Not only was it destroyed, but the fighting was so fierce that the area around it was burned. Even the forest surrounding was destroyed and everything turned desolate and ashen gray. When survivors eventually rebuilt and established a settlement upon these old ruins, the name Ashfen seemed fitting. The valley in which it lay eventually turned green again and over the years, trees began to grow again but it was as if everything seemed a little less colorful there. And that is how Ashfen looks to this day. Right there in a gray, dull town in a valley in the middle of the Cursed Lands, nestled between a river and a forest is where Oryn grew up.

Without a single clue of who his parents were, he spent most days running around making trouble. Of course, back then, not everything seemed so dull and grim. Through the eyes of a child, the world seemed a little more colorful. But once he was a young man, he quickly realized there would be consequences to his actions and his petty thievery didn't go unpunished. He stole food to survive, slept up against chimneys and in whatever nooks he could find. He brawled with the other stray kids and fought fiercely. But the older he got the more trouble he caused. And in a small society like Ashfen, that wouldn't do. When he was fourteen he was given an ultimatum. The mines in the mountains or prison. Of course, neither sat very well with him. But he didn't end up in prison or in the mines.

On his knees in front of the town magistrate, a third option presented itself. Someone in the back of the room interrupted, stepped forward and spoke up. He looked like an old man, even then. He carried a sword, chainmail and leather. He offered to take Oryn in. To make him a man and keep him out of trouble. It took the better part of an hour, but eventually he and the magistrate agreed. What the terms were exactly, Oryn never learned. But as the years passed, neither did he care. Calen took care of him, clothes him and fed him. He showed him respect - something he had never truly experienced before. But it came at a price. Calen required Oryn to do as he told him, stick to his duties and work hard. It took some months for Oryn to agree to that and then begin to trust Calen. But eventually, they found common ground and began building a bond of respect.

But Calen wasn't just any old man. He taught Oryn how to use a sword, but he fought in a strange way. Not like the militia did, brawling, hacking and slashing at each other. They practiced intensely, with sword, without a sword. They ran and built up strength. Each passing months showed Oryn's improvement with his weapon. He also learned how to read, basic arithmetic and how to hunt. Though it was clear Oryn would never become a legendary bowman, he could track and kill a deer well enough. Calen also taught him runes. Runes he had never seen or heard of before. Runes that did something. Something magical. When inscribed on a weapon, they infused that weapon with various magical effects, depending on the rune. But it took Oryn years before he got the hang of it. When he asked Calen where the runes came from and where he had learned it, his mentor shrugged and smiled a mysterious smile.

Well into his twenties, Oryn was a strapping young man and a skilled fighter. He knew precious little apart from his runes and his sword, but this life was enough for him. Calen was the father he'd never known and being on the road was better than fighting for scraps in towns and strongholds. The two of them worked for years as mercenaries and hired swords. Sometimes they'd help out in farming communities, though they didn't happen upon those very often. Mostly, they were hired to escort farmers and petty merchants. From time to time, if lesser demons were terrorizing a countryside, they'd take care of that as well. Sometimes they were even hired as bodyguards. But time takes its toll. Calen wasn't a young man when he and Oryn had met and when the latter was in his twenty-eighth year, he died. That left Oryn alone again, wondering just what to do now. He buried his old friend, took his sword and started roaming the roads of the Cursed Lands. But that wouldn't make a living and so after a while, his horse carried him to the Hollows, looking for work.

Skills:

Human Magic - Runes

1583607439776.png
If you ask Oryn about the runes, he wouldn't know where to start. He doesn't know where they're from, what language it is (if it's even a language), he just knows that it helps him. He inscribes his sword with the runes, using a black gemstone. The runes he knows and uses for his sword makes the blade hot during combat. As if a fire runs through the steel. Once, it even began to glow white hot. Demons and humans alike recoil at its touch. It's the only magic he knows. If it is magic? Oryn isn't really sure.

Combat

His most practiced and honed skill. A fighting style that is a mix between speed and strength makes Oryn a terrifying opponent on the battlefield. It is a bastard way of fighting, however. He was trained to know that the blade is not the only part of a sword. He is fast and precise. Oryn twists and pivots with accurate movements, but doesn't seek to overpower his opponent. Instead, he finds the openings in his enemy's defence and very effectively seeks to eliminate them.

Survival

He's spent most of his years on the road and in the wild, so surviving outside towns is something he is used to. It's not a particularly impressive skill. Lots of people know how to survive in the wild. It's sort of a must in the Cursed Lands, but Oryn has so few skills that he counts it among one of those he has.

Inventory:

  • Sword: Oryn carries a sword that is quite clearly of very fine make. It was Calen's and he doesn't know where he got it from, but it was too fine a blade to let his old mentor take to the grave. It is inscribed with runes that glow when light is scarce.
  • Satchel: A satchel for various items. It hangs from his belt, under his cloak. It contains waterskin, dried edibles, striking steel and other necessities.
  • Dagger: A long dagger, as much a tool as a weapon.
  • Hooded Cloak: A warm hooded cloak that serves as a shield against the elements and a way for him to stay and feel less exposed.
  • Black Gemstone: A gemstone that was also a gift from Calen, used to write runes with. He keeps it in one of the pouches on his chest. Does it have other uses? Oryn doesn't know. But he does know they're expensive if you have to buy one.

Zarayah 'Zara' David | 24

Personality

Zari. Zara. It really depends on who she's talking to. Never her full name though. No one has ever used that, aside from her mother, and even though it is her full, legal name, it doesn't feel right when someone uses it. Zari rarely uses her full name herself, except for when it is necessary. But don't worry, she'll forgive you for the first few times you forget to use her nickname.

Aside from being weirdly picky about her name, you'll find a person who is cheerful 99% of the time. Zari always smiles and she generally has the mindset that she'd rather enjoy the time she is given, than spend it with negative energy. You have one life, so let's make it count, yeah? She usually speaks her mind and is pretty honest, having discovered that the truth will usually serve you best. It makes things less complicated in the long run and it makes her feel better. Zari goes far to keep everyone happy and to get on everyone's good side, but that doesn't mean she'll put up with everything. It takes a lot for her to say no, however. She's a little shy and is not the most confident person in the world. In fact, she doubts herself more than what's healthy. But hey, who doesn't these days?

Although her facade is one of smiles and happiness, things aren't as perfect as they might seem. They never are. The truth is that Zarayah is lonely. She is the only one in her family aside from her constantly busy brother, who still lives in the US. Her father died recently and her mother moved back to Israel. That has left her struggling to cope and make new friends. There is one thing she struggles with more than anything in her daily life and that is boredom. This is particularly problematic when you haven't got a lot of friends and not much to do. It's a shame too. Zarayah is very social and can be the life of the party, but for a long time she has spent most of her free time alone. So if you show a genuine interest in her, she'll light up like a Christmas tree.

Appearance

Average height and average build. Well, that actually means she is a bit to the fit end of the scale. Given that she sometimes works long hours and needs to always be ready and prepared, she needs to take care of herself and her physique. Her skin is an olive tone, her eyes are brown and her hair is thick and curly.

You'll usually catch her wearing a pair of All Star Converse shoes or a pair of chelsea boots, black skinny jeans a band tee and a leather jacket. If it's cold she'll toss a shemagh scarf around her neck. For a night out, she'll wear much the same. Perhaps she'll throw on a plaid shirt or even a skirt. If she's going fancy, she might go for a dress that isn't too revealing - but she knows how to move and how to send those brown eyes your way.

68747470733a2f2f73332e616d617a6f6e6177732e636f6d2f776174747061642d6d656469612d736572766963652f53746f7279496d6167652f722d4b5739684549595f577834513d3d2d3831383031363634332e313565323430393835623335346634623336303030303230353338302e676966

History

She has a difficult relationship with her family. In the house she grew up in, they were strict and somewhat religious. That was never really Zari's thing. That coupled with the fact that she found out that she was bisexual, made things difficult pretty quickly and very early on as well. There was lots of rebelling and lots of missed classes, but somehow she pulled through. Zari was brave enough to stand up to her parents, and even announced to them one time that she had found a partner who was of her own sex. Her mother has refused the fact that her daughter was attracted to both men and women, which caused a rift between the two of them. Her father on the other hand, became more and more understanding and open as the years went by. His death affected her deeply.

Zarayah David grew up in Israel. She attended a school where she learned to speak English very well, as well as Hebrew. Her parents wanted her to learn both languages so as to be able to go out into the world and communicate, but they wanted her to remember her roots and home as well. It's something she appreciates today, but she rolls her eyes when she thinks back on it. Her teachers were relentless.

Several things made her want to leave Israel and move to America. One reason was that life in Israel was difficult for her as a teenager, as being attracted to your own gender was not without troubles or risks. That was why it was kept a secret. But that was not a life she wanted to live. Zari is a much more free spirit than any in her family and she had a flair for art - music included. So she wanted to pursue her artistic dreams - preferably outside of Israel. So from an early age she set her eyes on America. Given that she had a good eye for photography, that seemed the way to go. It wasn't until she was a few years out of school that she found a way to combine this with another love of hers. Music. Through hard work, good looks and connections, Zari landed a job as a travelling photographer for a large magazine. With a passion for almost any genre of music, though perhaps specifically for rock and heavy genres, she couldn't wish for a better job.

Mae'lyrra Varanyn| Sol'dien | 26 | Maglin, Shalmarin

Name:
Mae'lyrra Varanyn

Nicknames:
Mae, Blackfeather, the Red Wanderer

Race:
Sol'dien

Age:
26

Home Territory:
Maglin - Shalmarin

Occupation:
Lifewarden

School of Magic:
Shalmai

Organization or Clan:
Sunfeather Tribe

Description:

It isn't hard to spot Mae'lyrra in most environments. Even her own people look twice. Her figure is wrapped in a loose fitting red robe that is cinched close by a belt at the waist. But even though this would make her noticeable in other regions where people typically wear more muted arrangements, there is more to it. Her hair reaches to the middle of her back and falls in soft curls. It is often dyed in some splendid color - or colors. Her natural color is black, but for rituals or festivals she usually dyes her hair with reds and blues and whites. She always has a single black raven feather in her hair as well. As for jewelry, she wears hoops in her ears from which hang feathers and pearls. Her nose is pierced as well.

Her olive skin is the canvas for many tattoos and markings. Most notably an intricate pattern covering her upper chest, neck and shoulders. For rituals and other important ceremonies, she'll paint her face according to the custom of her tribe. Several of the tattoos on her hands and arms have to do with either her tribe or her Shalmai way of life.

Mae'lyrra is a woman of average height but with a certain fluidity to her gait. It is as if she walks her path with ease and knows exactly where to go. Her feet are clad not in boots but in leather sandals - unless she finds herself in colder environments. Her teeth are white with pointy almost predator-like canines. Although she is not physically imposing, she is lean and fast with a strong core.

If you still find it hard to spot the (sometimes) black-haired woman with feathers in her hair and earrings, with tattoos on her skin, clad in red, then you will surely know her by the raven you will often see sitting on her shoulder.

History:

It is true that if pressed, she'll state Shalmarin as her home. But this isn't entirely true. Mae'lyrra was born in the Painted Mountains. A place that would become one of many she would see in her life. Her parents belonged also to the Sunfeather tribe - a tribe that lives as true nomads, never settling anywhere for long. This meant a life of constant wandering. So for her to name one single place as a home is quite difficult for Mae'lyrra. It also meant that she got to meet different peoples and cultures, which is reflected in her personality.

Her mother is the Elder of the Sunfeather tribe - the most powerful Shalmai among them. And if there ever was a case to be made that Shalmai magic is inherited through blood, this would be a strong one. Already at an early age, Mae'lyrra showed a certain affinity for her mother's work and it didn't take long for them to understand that the young girl might become a potent healer, communicator with animals and, eventually, the next Elder after her mother. Her training began when she was seven years old and she was taught as the tribe moved. Each time she and her mother encountered a new plant, she would teach her its attributes and how to best use them. After a few years, Mae'lyrra began helping her mother at ceremonies and rituals and then slowly was taught the words and the techniques.

At 16, she was sent to Braxin to study under the skilled healers there and learned many things. She quickly made a name for herself by her distinct appearance and her empathetic nature. Braxin was her home for 5 years. It was when she had completed her training and was on her way back to her tribe that she encountered a raven on her journey. Without realizing it, her skill had grown sufficiently for her to communicate with the bird. Mae'lyrra performed a ritual, drew the patterns in the sand, spoke the words, placed down her totem and immediately heard the bird's voice in her head. The two of them have been together ever since. She named the raven Corax. On her continued journey back to her tribe, people that saw her were slightly puzzled when they saw the red-robed woman with a raven on her shoulder. Hence the names Blackfeather and Red Wanderer. When she did find her family, they welcomed her with joy. She was deemed worthy enough to be granted the title of Lifewarden. A title that indicates her skill at healing.

For a time, she returned to working with her mother much like she had before she left for Braxin. During this time, her mother observed her daughter working and was confident that she could become the next Elder - should the spirits and the tribe agree. But her belief was cemented when their tribe were attacked by raiders in the desert en route to the Painted Mountains for the Harvest Festival. The attack and the fighting was fierce, but the Sunfeather men and women managed to hold their ground. When it was done, many were gravely wounded. Mae'lyrra and all other healers worked as hard as they could but it seemed in vain. This was when Mae'lyrra decided to call upon the spirits and - no matter the cost - beg them to grant her the power to heal her friends and family. To everyone's great surprise they beheld in awe, as the young Lifewarden with white eyes, on her knees and with outstretched arms fell into a trance unlike any they had ever seen. White, whispy threads of magic seemed to flow from her fingertips and toward the wounded as they lay on hides on the ground. This spectacle went on for no more than a few minutes. When it was over, Mae'lyrra collapsed to the ground, but the wounded were healed of their injuries. She woke up five days later.

After this she gained somewhat of a reputation, not only in her own tribe but also among other wandering people in the deserts. In Shalmarin and other settlements, those that had heard the story didn't fully believe it. It seemed to be only a rumor there, though the Red Wanderer cared only little. After this event, Mae'lyrra's mother demanded that she was taught how to fight with a spear as was tradition for the Sunfeathers. And though she didn't say much, Mae'lyrra knew that her mother was preparing her for something. For three years, she trained and became more than decent with her spear. When she was satisfied with her ability to defend herself, her mother presented her with two things. A dagger and a task. Now, at the age of 25, Mae'lyrra the Lifewarden was to go out into the world and lend her healing hands where they were needed as well as learn what she could and hone her skill. If she was to become the tribe's Elder, her mother wanted her to know as much of the world as she could. And so the Red Wanderer went with her spear, her dagger and the raven on her shoulder.

Equipment:

Spear

Dagger Also used in rituals.
bab8b16350fafcfabc56e20fee3a5902.jpg

As for armor, Mae'lyrra wears none. In fact, the toughest material covering her, might the leather in her sandals.

She carries various totems and objects used in this ritual or that. Don't ask, you'll never make her stop talking again.

Strengths and Skills:

  • Well-travelled - As she has met many peoples and cultures in her life, Mae'lyrra has learned not to judge anyone by color or creed. Everyone has a story.
  • Optimistic - Despite how it might seem from time to time, there is more good in the world than bad. If everyone would lend a hand from time to time, everything is going to be alright.
  • Gentle - With her in your company, you'll always have someone who is ready to help, ready to cook a meal. Have you ever tasted the spices from Maglin?
  • Healing Hands - Her early life and training has given her extensive knowledge in the art of healing, both with plant based medicines and potions as well as magical healing.
  • Beastmaster - Possessing the ability to communicate with beasts, she is able to gather information that others are not. This is not a skill she flaunts, however. She often talks to Corax, but most people just think she's strange.
  • Voice of the Spirits - Through rituals and sacrifice, she is able to contact the spirit realm, either to grant her power or to ask their council.
Ideals:

  • Lifewarden - To Mae'lyrra, all life is sacred. She will do what she can to lend her healing hands to those in need and lives by a creed of compassion.
  • This is not the only Realm - There are more realms than the one we live our lives in. Even so, let's make the best of the one mortal life we have.
  • They're counting on me - She knows that her tribe and her mother and father are expecting her to do well. They have a lot of faith in her and she aims to prove to them that it is not misplaced.

Weaknesses and Vices:

  • Animal Affinity - Early in life, she found it difficult to socialize with other people. She preferred the company of animals much more and found a closer understanding there. This has since changed and she now enjoys the company of others greatly, though she sometimes has a hard time understanding even her own people.
  • Ruthless - Most people consider this a strength, but Mae thinks differently. Though her goal is to heal and help where she can, she can be ruthless in combat. She does not enjoy taking lives, and can often be found placing totems on the bodies of those she has slain.
  • Temper - While you could also argue that she is patient, when you do manage to provoke the fiery rage she also carries, you had best distance yourself. This rarely happens, however, as Mae'lyrra is a thoughtful person. She doesn't like to lose control.
  • Unbridled - Mae'lyrra is not fully aware of the power she has within her. Only once has she experienced the true nature of her Shalmai ability. This means that if she were to tap into that same power, she wouldn't be able to control it.

Bonds and Banes:

  • Duty and Honor - Not only is it an honorable task, being named Elder of her tribe, but it is also her duty. Mae'lyrra knows she has the ability, she just needs to prove it to herself and her family. She holds herself to do her best and help where she can.
  • Shalmai - In accordance with her teachings, she has promised to mend living things. Through balance between spirits, nature and the races, she aims to heal those she can.
  • Weight of the World - While she is used to meeting new people and races, given the nature of her life, it seems a daunting task to go into the world and take it on. She did that when she was sixteen, but then she didn't have the added pressure of potentially becoming the next Elder. This makes her doubt herself.

Motivation, Personal Goal, and Defining Act:

  • MOTIVATION: The duty she has to prove her family proud and to ensure that her tribe will have its next Elder and not be without, as this person is quite a central figure in their culture.
  • PERSONAL GOAL: To learn and improve as much as she can and to lend her aid where she can.
  • PERSONAL GOAL: To become the next Elder of the Sunfeather Tribe.
  • DEFINING ACT: The Great Healing, as it was named, where she saved then lives of many of her kin and tribesmen after they had been attacked by raiders. This cemented the already preconceived notion that she might become the next Elder.

Crown Prince Vaegon Aeraellis

The Crown Prince looks exactly like what he is. He is well dressed, lean with keen, amber colored eyes and an air of importance about him. And as if his stature and station was not enough to garner the attention of those around him, there is one particular trait that will. He has white hair. Something no other member of the royal family has. Vaegon is tall and is carries himself with dignity - back straight, shoulders squared, eyes up. Only when he's not appearing in official capacity will you see him more relaxed. In fact, you might often see him relaxed and leaned back in a chair with a cup of wine, if he's among friends and family.

His hair is long and usually gathered in a knot or a ponytail. He is always clean shaven and smooth as facial hair is not fashionable at court. As for his royal garb, he tends to lean toward black and gold or black and silver or blue and copper combinations. Naturally, these outfits are crafted by the royal tailors and fit him perfectly. As they should.

Had the circumstances on the day of his birth not been so strange, people might have wondered if he was indeed a trueborn royal baby, back then. But as it happened, there was a raging summer storm as his mother labored to bring him into the world. When she finally did and heard no screaming or crying, she was fearful for the child. Strangely, Vaegon merely directed his amber eyes at his mother and stared at her without saying a word. Once the word spread, the commoners began calling him the Storm Prince. The common folk quickly determined that all of the events could only befall the royal family and any rumors that Vaegon was a bastard were forgotten.

The prince is proud but gentle. He easily gets bored with both the nobles and the common folk alike. He feels most at home in the training yard with his friends and the quartermaster. Things are easier there. Block, slash, step, block, stab, repeat. He is aware of his responsibilities, however, and accepts them although they are a weight on his shoulders.

Gabriel Ojeda

Age: 24

Birthday: August 17

Nationality: Argentinian

Appearance:

Gabriel stands at 5'8" with and athletic, lean build that comes from training and playing football all his life. Due to his Argentinian heritage, he has warm, light brown skin and very dark brown hair. His eyes are blue with a hint of green and they have a striking quality about them, making it appear as if he is watching you intensely. Being a professional athlete, it is a given that he is in fantastic shape. Gabriel possesses a lot of core strength as well as strong legs, making him able to sprint in bursts to get an edge on defenders on the pitch. He keeps his hair easy to maintain for practical reasons, and almost always has it cut short around the sides and longer on the top. That is, in fact, exactly how he describes it when his hairdresser asks him how he wants his hair. He also gets his hair cut relatively often, as he has a public image to maintain.

Personality:

There are different sides to Gabriel Ojeda. Which one you see, depends on whether you are alone with him or if someone is sticking a camera in his face. And even if someone is sticking a camera in his face, it depends on whether that person is a journalist/reporter, or a fan. If it is the former, he'll be polite and professional. He believes in being humble in victory but also in being honest and respectful in defeat. If it's the latter he'll take his time and be joyful, happy and talkative if time permits. Being a famous football player, Gabriel is used to being in the limelight. Despite his relatively young age, he seems to have already found a balance with this way of life. He doesn't necessarily enjoy having to watch everything he says and does when speaking or appearing in public or in the media, but he doesn't hate it either. From a very early age, his mother – being a devout catholic – taught him that honesty would be one of his most important virtues in life. Gabriel is not at all as religious as his mother, yet honesty has been an important weapon as well as a shield in his professional career and in life in general.

Off camera and off the football field, Gabriel is easy-going and fun. He is always full of energy and always up to doing something. Whether that means playing video games on the PlayStation, watching a movie or going for drinks or something entirely different, he is almost always up for it. He is the life of the party and that is why you'll usually see him with a smile on his face. On the football field however, he is dedicated and hard working and believes in giving 110% every single time – also something instilled in him by his mother. At the same time he does what he can to encourage his teammates to secure a win. Easy-going as he is, Gabriel hates losing.

And when he does lose a match, the best thing for him to do is be quiet and be by himself for a while. His biggest issue in his professional life is that every time his team loses a match, he takes it all on his shoulders. Even if he did his very best and the fatal mistakes were not made by him, he still feels like he has let down his team and the fans. Gabriel can be a bit moody and difficult to be around. He'll usually wrap himself in a blanket and a hoodie – with the hood pulled up – and watch something silly on Netflix.

Story:

Born and raised in Argentina. On the surface there is nothing special about his upbringing or his early life. He was born into a middle class family that struggled to make ends meet, just like so many other families in Argentina. His mother and father were both so proud of their third son, the latest addition to their four children. Three boys and one girl. And just like many other families in Argentina, his was catholic. In rapid Spanish they would say grace, go to church, thank the lord for their lives and their good health. This was brought into the family mostly by Gabriel's mother – Helena. She was strict and had a temper but she was also incredibly warm and loving. And although her husband was certainly also contributing in his role as a parent, it was clear that Helena was the one to make sure her children did their chores, their homework and paid attention in school. Specifically, the latter was the source of more than one argument between Helena and Gabriel Ojeda. Despite being a bright kid, he found school incredibly boring and would much rather run out and play football. In a small town in Argentina ,football was, as Helena well knew, just as important as their catholic faith. This was made abundantly clear because their priest was also the football coach for Gabriel's team. And although father Moreno would have liked for Gabriel to pay more attention in church, he was willing to let it slide when he saw the young boy's skill with a football. This is where Gabriel's path to glory started.

During his adolescence he played football in Argentina. He found a balance between school, homework, chores, and his favorite hobby and was happy. His plan was getting the three first things done as fast as he could, so there was more time for football. This paid off, because when he was fifteen, a talent scout from Spain contacted him and his family. This was something every young boy dreamt of, but no one dared to believe in. So naturally the Ojeda family were very excited. It would take some convincing to make Helena and her husband agree to letting their son go to Spain to play football, and the negotiations were long and tough but eventually they reached an agreement. The Spanish talent scout convinced the Ojeda's that their son's potential as a striker was great and before the end of the year, Gabriel and his family had been installed in a house in Madrid, Spain. Gabriel himself was enrolled in the youth academy at Club Atlético de Madrid.

From here his talent and skill improved by each day. His work ethic and his thirst for scoring goals was well known and when he was nineteen years old, he appeared in his first match for the first team in Atlético Madrid, against Granada. Gabriel scored two goals and even to this day he is able to tell you exactly what he was thinking and how he felt before, during and after that match. From then on, he would only miss a match because of an injury. His career took off, he became more and more famous but had good people and mentors around him to keep his feet on the ground. At 24 years of age, he has earned more money than he can spend and generally lives a life in luxury, but all he really focuses on is playing football. That is where his heart truly is. Coming from a family with little money, he understands that money is not everything. So his focus lies on the next match.

The next match, incidentally, is a friendly match against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium in London.
