More Than I Bargained For

That was Kerric! The young woman gladly returned the hammer to the box where she had found it. Pushing and stepping over the cargo she emerged from the hiding spot. Climbing back onto the deck Alexandria was dismayed to see the captain pointing a pistol at another stranger, clad in a black cloak.

"Are you sure about this?"

For the first time she was facing an assassin instead of running from him. She would do all she could to appear brave, hopefully much more courageous than she felt. Kerric clearly couldn't get something to tie him up with, so she would. There was a rope tied around the mast leading towards the two men at the railing. She worked at untying it from around the beam, it was a much stronger knot than any she knew how to make, but finally the girl managed to undo it. Carrying the rope to Kerric she stood partially behind him where she felt at least a little safer. But she wouldn't let herself cower away from the killer completely. At least not while a gun was trained on him.

"Did you murder my father?" She asked the silver eyed assassin. It was a dreadful question but she wanted to know the truth.

He laughed. "I've killed alot of people kid. You're going to have to be more specific than that." He eyed the rope in her hands and then turned his attention back to the captain and his gun. "Your arm is going to get tired soon. Seems your little friend there has some rope to use. Why not trade and come over here to tie me up and then get back to piloting this hunk of air space? Otherwise, I'll just sit here and wait for another chance to gain the advantage."

The kid sure acted brave, but he could tell that she was utterly terrified. Who wouldn't be after being chased by bounty hunters and assassins all the time? Still, he had to give her credit for confronting him and not squealing in fear, running back into the safety of the room.

Kerric was tempted to look away when he heard her voice but kept his eyes trained on the man, she made herself useful by offering rope to tie the man up with."Not really, no. But, we have to do something." He replied, Kerric was hesitant, this man was clever he might just try to pull something with this opportunity. The man was right though, his arm would soon get tired, but maybe not as quickly as the assassin may think. " Hold the gun while I tie him up." He said as he advanced towards him, taking the rope in one hand.

Samuel simply placed his hands together and held them out as Kerric approached. The kid was more than likely a piss poor shot, but he didn't live this long taking chances on theories and possibilities. Right now, no matter how much he hated to admit it, he was at a disadvantage. He had no weapons on him, he was outnumbered 3 to 1 presuming the girls brother was onboard and even if he did try something, if he was injured during the struggle, he would be at a greater disadvantage than he already was.

Still, once he was alone, he could calm down and think logically about his next move. Maybe he'd even get lucky and have the girl come to him. She did seem like a curious sort and she might even come back to him for whatever answers she thought he might have. Still, right now it was one thing at a time.

Alexandria took the pistol keeping it focused on the assassin. If they made it all the way to Safir he would be put to a fair trial and executed. If he tried something now, she could kill him in defense. Supposing she could actually pull the trigger. But she expected that the memories of those murdered in her past would provide enough motivation if such a time came. For now she must keep her thoughts in the present, it was how she managed to survive this long.

"Where are you going to put him? Lock him in a room? Lash him to the mast? As long as I know where he is, that's the key to avoiding them."

For the time being, on this ship, there was only one. Perhaps she would finally be able to sleep again. She couldn't remember the last time she was able to be safely unconscious for hours... actually she could, the night before her father was killed. Alexandria had to push the thoughts from her mind, already she was distracted from the present.

She just had to hold herself together a little longer. Keep the gun focused on the man. Escort him to wherever the Captain decided was the most secure place. Then she could pester him for answers and avoid him as needed.
