(Silent appreciation for this clever line "Lea didn't mind rough and tumble... but only in bed" )

Kohana ignored Lea mouthing a word, noticing, but pretending not to. She eased herself towards the front of her seat, now a bit pumped up to start this training. Also, she couldn't lean back well because of the large sword that was still resting upon her back within its leather sheath. Kohana perked up a bit upon hearing Lea muttering. She stifled a snort. Shooting upside down and doing fancy tricks was pointless save fro the brief admiration of fools. Shooting upside down wasn't a battle skill and was deemed useless by the headstrong werewolf. She overlooked the notion that it could help improve accuracy.

Kohana was rough and tumble as the rest of her kind. She liked a nice fight, an honorable one though. She preferred kicks, punches, and grabbing with minimal biting, clawing, and hair ripping. Kohana had grown a bit more uncomfortable though after her endeavors within the arena, being more rough and a bit less accommodating to rules. She was more programmed for survival now. Kohana had put the thought asiide, but she wondered if she'd lose herself in a brawl now and become more feral. That would be unfortunate, but she put the notion off for the time being to keep herself in a decent mood.

One of the other teachers spoke, a lean looking man with sharp features. He had feline eyes and spoke with a tone that almost suggested a purr. (Think khajiit voices if you have played Skyrim) "I prefer the obstacle course we have here at camp. It allows the improvement of agility and coordination. It also helps promote team work since you will all have to work together to complete the course. For each failed soldier I will make the whole group perform another activity so this is motivation enough to work. The course provides a good method of torture...er, training."he said, obviously joking on the last part with a sly smirk. A few in the crowd laughed at that and the teachers seemed amused.

((Teehee thanku thanku))

Lea huffed a little when she realized Kohana wasn't paying attention to her. She didn't even know why she cared about it... she didn't! Yeah keep telling yourself that, her brother's voice mocked. She was just so used to being the center of attention, and it had worked on Abby and Leo. She needed it to work on her partner as well, by hook or by crook! Just don't get stabbed or dunked in holy water...

She let out a small sigh before paying attention at the instructors yet again. Hm, there was an interesting fellow. He reminded her of a cat almost, even his voice was warm and pleasing to the ears. He talked of an obstacle course. It didn't appeal to her as much as the archery, but it was better than a full on brawl. She could get out of something like that easily! Well... hopefully. She couldn't help be cocky about certain things, but she figured living in the mountains probably taught her enough about obstacles. She couldn't help but chuckle a little when he mentioned the torture part.

"I personally enjoy the capture the flag race," an instructor said in a calm yet clear voice. He was rather tall, a handsome man with shoulder length black hair tied in a ponytail. He seemed almost human for a moment, though when he looked in the direction of the students it was obvious that he had eyes quite like a reptile's. "Being sent into the forest in pairs of two, the thrill of reaching the flag first, protecting it while returning to the starting point... it is quite an adventure." He smiled at the students, and when he opened his mouth, the ones with sharper eyesight would be able to see two large snake-like fangs.

Kohana believed she would be alright with an obstacle course. She may have trouble with sprints, but she could keep a good pace for long periods of time. She could also be fine with using her strength for climbing, even if she wasn't as nimble as others. Also, she could help motivate the team and urge them onwards since she knew a lot about cooperation from being raised in a pack. Kohana decided that obstacle course would be doable so long as the rest of the squadron could carry their weight in the activities to prevent too much extra work and time that could have been used for more important training exercises.

Kohana grew more attentive at the prospect of the capture the flag game. It would be fun to use strategy and careful maneuvers to acquire and defend an object. Also, maybe her tracking skills would come in handy. Although from her observations, many of the soldiers were wereshifters and could also use scent. Kohana noted that this peculiar man had reptilian eyes and narrow snake like fangs. He would make sure to stay of the creepy snake guy's path. She wasn't fond of reptilian shifters since they had a knack to be devious and dangerous.

The last instructor decided to add their input. It was a tall, well muscled woman with a head of wild brown hear. She had a wide, heart shaped face and when she smiled she showed off rather thick teeth. Kohana guessed she was a bear shifter, a kind really not to be reckoned with due to their great strength and large claws. "I rather like team capture the flag, where squadrons are pitted against each other in a territory ranging from the forest all the way into areas in the camp to increase the space needed for more strategy." Kohana also liked that prospect, wanting to work with a team in that game for an added advantage.

Lea paid attention to the last two instructors, not even making a sound. It sounded like quite a lot of fun. She was good at sneaking around and finding obscure objects, though she'd usually leave the making camp and tracking to her brother, following instructions rather than searching. He'd mostly keep her on a lookout since he trusted she would get an intruder before his or her footstep was heard.

She looked to the woman, who looked rather muscular indeed. She didn't look much like Lea's type, although who really knew what the vampire went for anyway? She snickered inwardly at herself, crossing her ankles as she continued looking over the last instructor. Even then, someone of her stature would probably be a good addition to anyone's team. She supposed brawn was needed as well as stealth.

Wonder what they got up for us today, she thought to herself as she scratched the back of her neck, her sharp claw accidentally tearing into her skin. She let out a low hiss at the stinging feeling before scowling as she brought her finger forward to look at a drop of her own blood. Shrugging, she stuck her finger in her mouth. Waste not!

Kohana heard a hiss and scented blood. Confused, she looked around. Soon she noticed Lea had accidently scratched herself with those killer nails of hers, so the werewolf looked away again.

The vampire woman that had greeted them all now spoke up again. "Now, we didn't come here tonight to tell you how wonderful the program is. Our main purpose it to inform you about what we will be doing tonight. "She said, pausing wuth a devious glint in her eyes. Kohana listened carefully, wondering what would be sprung on them.

"You will all undergo a challenge. You will all be assigned to an object to find in the woods. This object is your final rite of passage to become a new soldier. Fail and you will have to retake it until you succeed. Careful though, select veterans of your squadrons have been recruited to make your journey hell. No weapons, just wits and bare fists.Shifters can shift, but no biting and such in those forms. Understood?"she explained.

Kohana listened eagerly to all he vampire had to say. This sounded like an exciting challenge. She could do well with brawling and just find her object all easy and...

"Also, it is critical to mention that you must work with your partner. If they get hurt, you will just have to carry them to your object and out of the forest. Leave without them and you will retake the trial."The vampire added.

The soldiers started to murmur to one another. Abby giggled and looked up at Mark happily, the werehorse actually offering a kind smile. Kohana almost groaned. Why did the gods hate her? Now she had to cooperate with Lea. Kohana didn't fear the vampire, but she'd be wary alongside the creature in the darkness.

"Trial starts in 30 minutes and I expect yoy all to be at the back gate to the forest when your time is up. Remember, no weapons, partners are vital, beware of veterans, and have fun."the vampire added the last instruction with a mischievous smile.

Lea leaned forward a little now, putting her feet down properly, giving full attention to the vampire instructor, forgetting about the slight stinging on her neck. They would be up doing their task during the night? A slow grin came over her face. The night was perfect for her. She would ace this and show that haughty werewolf a thing or two about how awesome she was! It sounded simple enough. Find a certain object in the forest. What could go wrong there?

She almost snickered when she heard the vampire mention working with their partners. Not because she was thrilled about it. Heck, it'd probably take longer if she had to work with someone! However, she knew that Kohana was probably not liking this too much, and it amused her. Huh, bet she'd be perfectly okay if she was working with the other woof woofs, she muttered in her mind.

Wolves don't say 'woof woof', her brother's imaginary voice told her.

Oh shut the eff up, she replied, wishing he was really there in person so she could hit him upside the head.

There was one good thing about having a partner, Lea had to admit, and that was someone there to keep a lookout. She had no clue which veterans would be making their lives hell, but she wasn't going to let that happen! She had to admit, no matter how much a werewolf might hate it, a wolf and a vampire made a pretty strong team.

"This should be a piece o' cake," she said, turning to look at Kohana with a grin, a sparkle in her eyes.

( "other woof woofs" XD I love it)

"Hopefully it will be. Just do your weird sneaking thing and I'll take down the veterans. "Kohana grumbled. She could use some stealth of course since she knew how to hunt, but it wasn't really her favorite. Kohana knew bloodsuckers were the sneakier type and that Lea would probably enhoy hiding in the shadows and thinking thay she was cool.

The instructors all stood up and pushed in their chairs in unison. Then they began to approach the exit. "Good luck to you all."The werewolf said and other teachers replied by adding their own good tidings. Then the new soldiers were left alone in the auditorium.

Kohana notices others begin to stand and leave so she got to her feet as well. Looking to Lea she said, "We should get back to rhe squadron and put our weapons away."

Mark and Abby stood as well. Abby seemed excited. "Guys, guys, we could stick together to find our objects! Strength in numbers, right?"she suggested eagerly, following Kohana as the werewolf walked towards the exit, Mark following quietly.

((Hehe xD I read your earlier post and fell asleep... had a dream about these two off in the forest haha))

"My weird sneaking thing is the awesome thing that'll keep us safe," Lea scoffed. She huffed slightly as she pushed a bang behind her ear, frowning slightly. Couldn't the werewolf get the least bit excited about this mission? She hoped the attitude would change to a little less lackluster. She wasn't that overbearing a vampire, was she?

Yes you are, the voice in her mind told her, almost snickering. Lea pushed the voice away before she looked to the werewolf instructor and gave him a grin. Hm, well he seemed alright at least! "Thanks," she called, giving a small salute before she stood up and stretched. She nodded to Kohana. "Yep partner, right away."

She followed along with Abby and Mark, thinking over the hawk shifter's offer. "Hm... might be a good idea," she admitted. She was usually a sole worker, but it wasn't like this was an assassination mission, and the more people at hand, the easier to find their objects. "Whatcha think, Kohana, Mark?" She was pretty sure what the werewolf would reply, but she wasn't to sure about the werehorse.

(That's cool! I just had weird dreams...)

Kohana rolled her eyes at Lea's response. She didn't think sneaking would be as important as getting their object as fast as possible. Kohana wanted to get in and out without much trouble, but she'd be alright with a few veteran encounters to give them a taste of what she was capable of. Hopefully she didn't have to face Aya and her friend since she liked them.

The group made it outside where the sun was setting and the sky was becoming darker. Soldiers were going back to squadrons to put away weapons and older soldiers went back to squadrons to rest and socialize. It seemed there was no training tonight for others to have more time for the trials.

Kohana heard Abbys offer. "That's fine. The more the merrier for fighting off veterans."she replied. Mark also replied, "Kohana is right." That's all he said, sticking near Abby. The group made it to their squadron cabin. Kohana entered and walked to her bunk, unlocking her locker and safely shoving her sword and sheath inside. She hoped no one would try to steal the precious sword. Abby locked away her bow and arrows and Mark's axe was safely stored as well.

((Aww. Usually I get nightmares but this was a funny change))

Lea smiled as she exited the building, looking up to the sky. Even if her personality was an in your face type, the darkness was where she felt most comfortable. Perhaps it was the lack of the sun. While it didn't hurt her per say, it just irritated her mostly. Fire on the other hand was different; she always kept a few feet away from that source of light.

She was a little pleased to hear that the other two agreed to Abby's proposal. "Awesome," she quipped, slinging an arm over Abby's shoulder for a moment. Soon enough she entered the the squadron cabin with the rest of the shifters. Of course, she had no choice but to follow Kohana. She grinned a little at the thought, though it left when she put her bow and arrows away. She thought a moment before storing away her daggers as well. She didn't want to get disqualified for cheating. Besides... if anyone tried anything on her, she'd show them how sharp her nails really were.

"All done," she said with a grin as she looked up to her bunk. Relax for a bit? Hm... she was feeling rather wide eyed at the moment, so she decided not to. She didn't want to be drowsy at the start of the challenge. The last thing she wanted was for her partner to blame her for something going wrong! Hah, bet that'll happen anyway, she said to herself.

Well, you usually do cause a whole bunch of s***, her brother's imaginary voice said.

Woah, you cussed! Lea was surprised.

I am still a voice in your mind, you idiot.

((it's kind of fun having Lea try to be annoying yet also jealous with Kohana pays her no heed XD))

Kohana noticed quite a few veterans that were missing and wondered if they were going to be going after the rookies tonight. Kohana realized that Tom, Ricky, Aya, and Lhaka were missing. Leo and Lily were still there though, sitting together on the bottom bunk. Leo was sprawled out on the bed, golden locks splayed across the pillow. Lily was sitting with her back against the wall and her knees tucked towards her chest. The two seemed to be casually conversing.

Kohana sat on her own bed, wondering whT ro do now. Abby walked over to Leo and Lily, recognizing the veterans. "Hey guys. Have any tips for an inncoent little rookie like myself?"she asked with a light smile.

Leo sat up with a toothy smile, ending the conversation with Lily as he rested his aems behind his head. "Sure thing, little one."he replied. He saw Kohana, Lea, and Mark were sstill a few bunks down so he beckoned them wuth a wave of his hand. "Come, children. Let the elders give you some friendly advice. "He offered.

Lily snorted at him, rolling her eyes. Kohana hesitated a moment before approaching, finding a bit of advice to be useful. Mark also made his way over to Abby's side.

((Lol I feel bad xD but I think... I know what Aya and Lahk will do))

Lea had just about to sit down on Kohana's bed when she paused and looked over at the others, hearing Abby speak. She looked over to the bed and saw Leo and Lily. She had to chuckle; Leo sure looked very lion like the way he was sprawled with his man on the pillows. Why, she half wanted to go over and pat his head, just for fun of course.

She smirked a little, raising an eyebrow at the term 'children'. Oh, why ever not? She sauntered over and sat down right on the ground by the side of the bed, resting her chin on his bed, a grin on her face. "Teach us, oh great one," she said with a chuckle, finding the way Lily responded to him rather funny. She wondered how close they were. She could tell Abby and Mark were extremely close, though she wasn't sure if it was romantic of platonic, like best friends or siblings. As for her and her partner...

Hell will probably freeze over first before you two call each other friends, she heard her brother's imaginary voice say.

Aww, she replied, you're so negative.

(Yep. The veterans get to mess with them, like intense hazing basically. Go wild with it. :3 )

Leo looked over at Lea with a lazy grin, easing himself into a sitting position. "The great one is willing to help."he said. Kohana sat on the floor beside Lea and Abby sat on Lea's otherside, Mark next to her. They all looked up at Leo while Lily watched with a slightly amused expression. Leo cleared his throat and comically cracked his knuckles, tossing aside a stray blond curl.

"Okay, basically, the veterans are trying to humiliate and take you down in any way possiblw. Think hazing type stuff. Beware of water being flung at your face. You may think stealth with help you but it doesn't help much. There will be enough veterans that you are willing to accidently stumble into their paths anyways. Any questions so far?"Leo started.

((Alrighty :D))

Lea chuckled a little, finding Leo amusing. While she did find him cute, he wasn't her type. However, she wasn't averse to being his buddy; his relaxed attitude was appealing to her. She was a little surprised when Kohana sat next to to her, and not too surprise when Abby did. She gave them both a silly grin before focusing her attention on to Leo once more.

The hazing part didn't seem to bother her too much. She figured if someone messed with her, she'd just up them one and get them messed up as well, hopefully in a stickier one than was planned for her and her partner. "I think we should be fine," she said confidently. "But yeah, I gotta question. Are we aloud to counter attack 'em?" Only seemed fair to her, but who knew? If that wasn't a choice, she didn't want to accidentally cause her team failure and be kicked out.

"Of course you can fight back. That's part of the trials. Just don't be unfair and no sneaking weapons. One year some idiot pulled a dagger on someone. Didn't end well...for him of course! The veteran disarmed him and had him contained in a few seconds."Leo answered the question.

He blew away another loose strand of his golden locks thoughtfully. "Hm....what else?"he mumbled, rubbing the light stubble along his jawline. "Ooh, I know! Beware of traps. They hide them around the area. Anything from hidden pits to snares that hold you upside down. Avoid being stuck at all costs because veterans will give you hell and probably throw things...painful and unsavory things."he added.

"If you reveal too much, it won't be any fun."Lily piped up. Leo shrugged. "Alright, alright, I'll stop. I will answer any last questions."he offered.

"Hmm..." Lea smirked a little before she nodded, idly but on purpose tapping one of her fangs before leaning further against the bed, resting her chin on it. "Oh, y'don't havta worry about that. I have weapons on me all the time, they're just not detachable like most peoples." She didn't think they'd have to worry about traps or anything of the sort. She didn't want to think of herself hanging upside down however... she could only imagine how much Kohana would like seeing that. Not even in the good way!

She looked to Lily and gave her a big grin before nodding. "Heck we can figure out the rest, right?" She looked to the other three in her group. "Just watch and wait, we're gonna be remembered as the awesomest team." She shot a fist in the air, boasting but also really hoping it was true. She didn't want to lose... at least not so early in this military game!

At first Leo was a bit confused about what Lea had claimed. Always stuck? Did she have a belt of knives that couldn't be removed? That woupd be uncomfortable. Then he mentally facepalmed when he realized the vampire had been meaning her teeth and claws were her permanent weapons. Leo looked to Lily, seeming lile he was waiting for something to happen.

Kohana raised an eyebrow and was about to ask why Leo had paused when all of the sudden cowbells began to fill the evening with their clattering all around the camp. "That's your cue, newbies! Outta here or we'll drag you!"Leo jeered as he stood up, pointing to the door. Confused newbies were leaving their cabins chased by hooting veterans that ensured they started and completed the trials. Kohana stood up quickly, mind processing that they had fooled them with that potential prep time and had planned to surprise everyone. Abby and Mark also stood up, Abby leading Mark out quickly while laughing.

Kohana ran after them, escaping the hooting and such. Outside the sun was almost done setting and it was darker. No matter, Kohana had acute senses and could navigate. She followed the others into the forest, hearing other newbies running or veterans stirring. Kohana slowed down, dodging a tree. "Abby, Mark, wait. We should stick together and get organized. They want as to be disorganized with that startling beginning, so we shouldn't comply and be vulnerable."Kohana said, trying to take control now. Abby and Mark, the group now fast walking.

Lea wasn't at all made nervous by the sudden bells or the hooting and jeering. In fact, she was quite amused by this. "Oh man, I shoulda known they'd do something like this. It occurred to her that Leo had probably planned on helping them out with advice so that they'd be completely clueless when the bells rang. She had to admit it was a good mood, she didn't even feel pissed that she fell for something like that. Of course, he could have been sincere in helping them out, but she didn't feel like believing that, the other notion was much more devious and fun.

She sauntered after Kohana, hand stuffed in her pocket, deciding she'd rather not look like a chicken without its head, like quite a few other newbies were looking at the moment. The dark outside made her feel stronger than ever, her eyes shining as she quickened her pace slightly, entering the forest. It occurred to her that this was the second time today they had entered. Hmm. Maybe it had been a good thing that Kohana had roamed around in it. At least the werewolf had advantage over the others, scent wise. Or Lea hoped anyway.

She looked to the rest of the group, eyesight as clear as day. She was quite proud of that, actually. Her ears were straining as well, taking in sounds from around them. "Well," she said, "you've been around in the forest earlier, d'you remember anything?"

Kohana took a moment to regroup her thoughts as she looked around the forest, mind growing clearer. The forest was her element so her confidence had increased greatly. She sniffed the air, slowing the group down to a walk. "There is a clearing up ahead if I remember correctly. It's small, but I smell people in there that are probably veterans ready to ambush us. Let's avoid it."Kohana suggested, taking the reins.

Kohana jogged forwards, slinking along quietly towards the right to avoid the clearing a few meters ahead. Abby followed with Mark, both jogging as quietly as they could. Kohana heard yelling and jeering as a few rookies made the mistake of stumbling inti the clearing. Kohana peered through the leaves at the clearing to see the veterans tackle two new soldiers and begin to aggressively tickle them in a rather embarrassing fashion. Kohana mived on away from the clearing, eyes sweeping the ground for any sight of traps.

"Okeedokee," Lea said with a mock salute, though inwardly she was a little impressed. Her sense of smell was good, but not that good. She somewhat wished that Kohana was a wee bit friendlier; she knew they made a good team... it'd just be so much more fun if she was friendlier.

Can't have everything, she could almost hear her brother say. Besides, you're the one who makes it really hard to become friends with.

Oh shut up, she scoffed, grimacing slightly. Abby and Mark are just fine with how I act! Abby anyway...

She stopped talking in her mind as she followed along with the others. She was quite quite and noiseless in the dark, not paying much heed to the sounds of the yelling and the jeering. Instead she looked around to see if there were any traps.

"Up ahead," she muttered, pointing out an almost invisible string. "Bet you a drink there's another one just ahead... so if we don't get caught on one, we'll set off the other."
