I have a small idea, that could go two ways. I would have my mermaid/merman ( one or the other, depending on what your character was to be/what youre comfortable roleplaying. ) wash up onto the shore of a beach, or anywhere really, and your character sort of rescues him/her/ pushes her/him into the water?
 
this sounds cool i never tryid an mermaid or man RP befor i would like to sing up no cross of the like I would love to join XD
