Men At Arms.

"Fuck you, ya cocksucking twats!" Buck roared as he now just stabbed everyone. "Mongrel, kill!" The hound gladly obeyed and latched his jaws on the nearest enemy's throat, bringing him to the ground. "Fucking shit!" he yelled as he saw that he was to late. They had already extracted Fucker, and they were now making there escape. Buck now took a grenade from off of his belt and chucked it towards the cluster of enemies.

Arron chuckled like a mainiac as he kicked the grenade right back, a risky move that only served for style points... And potential death. As I said, mainiac. Running out with the others, he got filled in with the news of the missile strike, and thus sprinted out full speed with the other soldiers to hopefully make it to one of the vehicles in time, before the strike.

"Goddamit!" Buck dove and rolled behind a wall just as the grenade exploded, sending shrapnel into the wall. "Garrechi, the fucking orbital, there getting away! Fire it now!" He was answered by a prompt "Yessir" through the com-link. "ETA to strike, 10 seconds." "Roger, understood." replied Buck. Now addressing everyone in his squad through the common channel, "Men, I hope you've made peace with your god, cause we all might die, but in doing so, we bring these assholes down with us. You all know what you signed on for." He got no replies, but he knew that his men all heard him. While he wasn't sure that they were all about to die, the orbital cannon was still a rather new technology that needed further testing. There was now only about two seconds until impact, but Buck was, what he hoped was safe, in the underground levels of the base, and he soon felt the ground shake from the impact of the ion beam.

The man in the vehicle looked through the window, wide-eyed at what he saw. "Damnit. I didn't think that a particle beam would be a part in this..." He turned around for the nearest exit. "No time to lose! Everyone, get under a vehicle!"

Arron, who just arrived at said vehicle, saw his commander climb out, and therefore also heard the orders. The two managed to fit in under the large vehicle, and hoped for the best...

Almost everything was destroyed. Even organic life was just barely saved, and that was only due to their cover. Buck was hiding inside of a small crawlspace with Mongrel at his side, shaking. He now questioned his decision, but he figured it was better to destroy everything than let the enemy get a hold of sensitive information that could spell doom for the Hell-raisers.

The blast lasted for what seemed like an eternity, but it was in reality only a few seconds. Opening his eyes when it was done, Buck crawled out with Mongrel and he reached for his com. "Head check, all men report." He heard nothing as he waited, but that might have been due to the blast destroying their com link.

As the destruction around them settled, Arron and the man waited around a little longer, to not get found out right away. They kept quiet and still, hoping that the enemy died in their own blast.

Buck gradually made his way through the rubble and debris of the now collapsed Hell-raiser head quarters. All he could really hope for was that at least some of the enemy had died, and that as few as possible of his own men had died. He reached for the com once more. "Head check, all report." This time, a weak signal came in. "Ortega, reporting." Soon after, "Gerrechi" then "Monroe", and lastly, "Simmonds." FUCK! that meant 4 of his other men had died!

The two could hear him talking on the comm, but they could unfortunately not hear the replies. Judging by his body language, though, it wasn't good. Which probably meant that it was something good for them... But staying hidden was still a priority.

Shit, this was by no means good. While their were still plenty of able bodied soldiers on the base, they weren't his men. The men that served in his squad were some of the best that the Hell-raisers had to offer. Buck reached his hand down to pet Mongrel's head. "Well buddy, let's just hope that at least the enemy died. The two wandered around the base, avoiding the enemy for now, seeing how many personnel they could find.

"Damn..." Arron cursed himself under his breath. "My weapons were in there... They're probably destroyed by now." He turned to the man. "Do you have anything?" He just shook his head. "Damn..."

All that Buck saw was devastation, but that was to be expected from a weapon as indiscriminate as an orbital cannon. "shit" he muttered quietly to himself, as he saw death everywhere, be it on the side of the Hell-raisers, or the enemy. Buck himself had in essence ordered the death of these men, but they all knew what they signed on for.

After wandering for a bit more, Buck finally came to where many of the enemy vehicles had been, seeing how most, if not all were destroyed.

As Arron saw his captor and future target enter the picture, he decided to keep his trap shut for once in a while. They had to get out sometime, but they at least wanted to be out of sight before they began. But for now, with no firepower or other apparatus, all they could do was wait for him to leave.

Buck just stood there, surveying the area around him, when Mongrel began to growl. "What's the matter boy?" He asked curiously, as though the dog would respond. The muck hound started to sniff around the vehicles, and that piqued his interest.

Damn it. The dog. Why did he have to survive? This just put a stick in every plan that they had thus far... Which, to be fair, only was one, anyway. As the dog got closer, they began backing out, ready to make a run for it if they'd check under this very vehicle. They hoped that it wasn't necessary, though.

Mongrel now started to bark, as though he detected something. Buck reached for his pistol but found that he only had his knife. Oh well, might as well check it out anyways. Buck got on his hands and knees and looked under the vehicle. "Well well, what do we have here? Hi there Fucker. Who's your friend there? I don't think I ever caught his name." Buck was grinning widely, mainly due to the fact that he knew Mongrel would happily attack. "Hey, Mongrel? You hungry?"

"... Well, damn." Arron mumbled out as he realized that they had been found out. He didn't acknowledge his threat about the dog, though, neither did the man about his name. Arron turned to him and sighed. "Well, do you have a weapon or something?" He simply shrugged and produced a laser pointer. "This is the closet I've got to a ranged one. Sorry, boy." He sighed. "Could this be much worse?"

Buck grinned at the two of them, then glanced towards Mongrel. "Oh yeah, it could get much worse." To which Mongrel started to bark and growl violently. "Hmm, do I have him rip your balls off, or do I have him slurp down your eyeballs? It's been a few hours since his last meal, so I think he's a bit hungry." Buck was obviously enjoying himself, despite the fact that everything around them had been pretty much destroyed. Mongrel began inching closer and closer to the pair, ready to attack at his master's first indication.

"Great," sighed Arron. "We're under a tank with a hungry, sick dog and his equally sick owner who will probably tip us apart in a moment's notice, and what do we have to defend ourselves with? A fucking laser pointer."

The man, however, grinned as he aimed the highly concentrated laser into the dog's eyes, in an attempt to blind it.

"Oh fuck you, shit head!" said buck as he threw his knife at the man with the laser pointer, then quickly crawled under the tank to try and beat the shit out of them as Mongrel whined for a moment. "Mongrel! Search and destroy, search and destroy!" Buck hoped that the dog's eyesight was still good enough so that he could carry out his order.

The man got hit right in his shoulder, leaving him not only with difficulty to move his right arm, but also, more importantly, the knife itself.

Arron and the man started backing out as Arron took the pointer from the man's hand as he yanked out the knife with his left arm. Arron this time aimed for his captor's eye... The left one, as his robotic eye would nullify any effects.
