Welcome to Mayburn Academy, a criminal rehabilitation center in southern United States. Adults convicted of crimes have the choice to attend Mayburn instead of go to prison. Some have been convicted of shoplifting while others have been convicted of murder; crime records are sealed, though, and no attendee knows who has been admitted for what. The line between mental illnesses and mistakes continues to blur with each passing day, and attendees are left with two choices: adhere to Mayburn's rules in hopes of a better life, or put on a facade until their time is up. ~~~~~~ Welcome to Mayburn Academy for the Misguided and Troubled: Mayburn Academy was established as a criminal rehabilitation center in 1985. As far as back as she can remember, her life has been filled with drugs, alcohol, and wiping up her mother's vomit. She was admitted into the foster care system when she was twelve years old. During her childhood, her actions were mostly harmless; she hit the other children on the playground, spray-painted school walls, and stole a necklace or two. She was fifteen the first time she was arrested for underage drinking, and she spent the rest of her teen years being bounced around from foster home to foster home, or running away from said foster homes. It was only when she turned eighteen that her life truly took a turn for the worst; it was then that she divulged in the same substances her mother had, and on top of the white powder and smoke, she sold herself to men. When she was arrested for prostitution six months ago, her parole officer gave her a choice: try to get better or spend the rest of her life rotting away in a cell. She opted for Mayburn. Although she's just waiting out her time and has no intention of changing her ways, there's something comfortable about being around people who are more screwed up than she is.
