Premise and Plotty Things:

Pirates. Fantasy races. Supernatural. Multiple characters. Pirates on a hunt for an infamous treasure, gotta fight sea monsters and curses, shipwreck, diseases. When Captain dies, political shenanigans ensue along with a fight for being the next greatest pirate captain.


Dawn of the magitechnology era, pirates find a ~*notebook*~ containing a map, and ramblings of a theorist magitechnician about a magical theory book that has disappeared for decades, on how to build airships powered by magic. Magitech is mostly "created" with runes and incantations, and there was a dark period where a lot of texts and spells were destroyed or lost. Most magic is done through incantations, potions, and rune markings. Everyone can make potions if they have the right ingredients, but if it requires real magic, they must seek out witches for incantations. Magitechnicians are the ones who know about magic runes, it is rare that one person is both a magitech and a witch.

Written Appearance: Like most of those who are said to possess the "gift", Elroyn keeps the lower left side of her head shaved, though recently she divides her hair so it hides the shaved spots. As an elf, her ears are pointy and her body is naturally athletic though she stands on the taller side at five feet eleven. Her eyes are a very pale green, a strange contrast with the darker tone of her skin and the bloodshot redness of her eyes. Elroyn is rarely seen smiling, though if she did it would be rather creepy what with the small bones hanging around her neck, and the polished canines used as earrings. Her clothing are mostly made of soft brown leather.

Skills|Quirks|Habits:
  • Having lived a nomad life with her native tribe, Elroyn can find her way in any forest at any given time, and is able to read the stars for navigation as long as she has the right tools.
  • Though she prefers not to handle weapons, she is profeciant with short blades and has knows where to slash for a quick death.
  • Commonly called a witch, Elroyn possesses a gift believed to have been given directly by the Great Mother, Udonna. She can write magical runes after having studied them for a day, and on occasion has displayed the even rarer gift of foresight. The paleness of her eyes seems to be the reason for this as well.
  • To pass time, she throws small animal bones and attempts to read them. She also enjoys palm-reading, though most of her sayings are banal and applicable for anyone.
  • While she writes with her left hand, everything else is done with her right.
  • When deep in thought or nervous, she twists the tooth in her ear.

Personality: Elroyn enjoys messing with others and pulling pranks, but she always does it with a serious face and an apathetic approach. It seems like she doesn't have much of a life in her, and easily gets offended when someone doubts her abilities. She rarely laughs or smiles. As a lover, she prefers to be in control and her satisfaction always comes first, though she'll rarely leave a lover unsatisfied. In all her years, she has never had an actual relationship; which is unsurprising, given her religious devotion and her cold attitude.

Brief History: Most of the population of Blossadell is formed of nomadic elven tribes. They usually live in peace, though the old texts say the magic users and crafters waged the bloodiest war of the archipelago. For over five centuries now though they have traded and travelled peacefully for no one wished to shed more blood in an already red soil. Elroyn's tribe, Qinoko, was mostly composed of hunters and rune writers. The gifted were trained by the elders before being sent to Hostania, where the most prestigious masters worked and expanded their knowledge of magical technology.

Even as a young child, Elroyn had no interest in becoming a scholar. Her feisty attitude quickly transformed into apathy when she was older. Being an only child and with dead parents, Elroyn was thought to be a witch with the most potential in the tribe. She ranked highly with the elders sooner than anyone else, and somehow managed to remain with the tribe much longer before some members petitioned to have her sent away to Hostania. She resisted and some of the elders argued that her gift of foresight was more useful to them here than in some dank room in a fortress somewhere but eventually even they agreed it was time for Elroyn to leave to forge and hone her gifts further. To avoid a punishment perhaps greater than death, Elroyn took a ship to Hostania, praying to the Great Mother and begging her for guidance. While she should have only stayed in Hostania for a decade, she's been there for over twenty years and it does not look like the Great Mother wants her to go back home just yet.

Other:
  • She can swim and has a strange connection with sea creatures, and she developped a specific rune that makes her capable of staying underwater for hours.
  • "Sea witch" is what sailors and children call her, for she swims like the merfolk but without a tail and glowing gills that are far from natural.
  • For this reason, she never eats fish or other sea food. She'll eat rats and sea gulls before she eats anything from the sea.

Written Appearance: Baelor wears his chin-length hair back in a small bun, while he pridely trims his red moustache and beard. He is of average height at five feet eight, though with the way he carries himself like a proud rooster, one typically forgets his height. Cotton shirts and tough leather pants are his usual fashion choices, and he always carries his heavy leather coat that goes down to his knees. The buttons on it have been tore off and re-sewn, some of it worn down because of saltwater; but he keeps it and repairs it to the best of his ability.

Skills|Quirks|Habits:
  • Baelor has a bad habit of scraping his teeth with a toothpick more than is necessary. It stems from a fear of losing his teeth.
  • He is as mundane as they come: absolutely no magic skills whatsoever. On the other hand, he is the best at what he does and he reads the sea better than anyone else he knows.
  • Skilled at sword fisting, utilizing enhanced weapons (magi-tech) though he cannot recharge them himself, knows everything about ropes and knots, knows how to read and write (though his handwriting is pretty hard to decipher).
  • Considers himself an atheist, but the older he gets the more he thinks there are forces above them.

Personality: Born to be a leader, Baelor knows how to get what he wants. When he speaks, everyone turns to listen and the fatherly aura he projects attracts all kinds of people. However, unless necessary or when talking to his crew, Baelor doesn't particularly like being the centre of attention. He prefers to laugh along and tap shoulders, saving his speeches for the right time and the right people. He is a man of big dreams and once he gets an idea in his mind, nothing can stop him short of death itself. This tends to make him stubborn and a bit of a cunt, but if failure is inevitable close to the finish line he will stop persuing. The man has had one love in his life and the cruel mistress that is the sea took her away from him, and he has devoted his life to sailing since.

Brief History: Being born in the capital of Hostania, James Valiquez had access to much more opportunities than those born in the slums or in farming villages. His father was a high-ranking soldier in the King's army, so when his son became a renown sailor and fisher, he pulled some strings and at only 20, James was part of the Royal Armada. While he enjoyed being on a ship and gone for months at a time, it quickly became obvious what kind of work the King was making them do. Under the guise of "discovering foreign lands", they were sent to capture and claims lands in his name, regardless if others were living on it. Robbing unarmed people of their homes, killing the fighting men to avoid any uprising... That was not the kind of life James wanted to live.

One day, a year or so after he had been promoted to captain, he mutinied from his own crew and travelled through the night to warn the villagers of their upcoming doom. Luckily, the few trusted friends he had made in his time as both crew member and captain, had his back and when he returned they imprisoned those who refused to follow him and left them on the island. In the next few years he shed his name of James Valiquez and became Baelor Cromwell, since he was a wanted criminal by the royal court. The once great captain of the royal armada was on the run, but he hid in plain sight with his own ship: the Queen Kraken. His new obsession is quite different lately; he needs to recruit many new folks for the Kraken Queen's Children of the Sea.

Other:
  • One of Baelor's favourite part of sailing is the companionship between creww members. He loves singing with them and has a surprisingly just tone.
  • For a pirate, he is relatively well educated but he keeps that mostly to himself, preferring to appear more of an idiot than a smart man until necessary.
  • Baelor never saw his parents after he defected from the armada, but rumours have it that his father was hung for the treason of his son while his mother remains unaccounted for. He had a younger sister, but she has not been seen for over a decade.
  • He is a generous lover and will attend to his partners' needs before his own, but once he either begin to feel attached he breaks it off and never sees them again.

Written Appearance: Petra is a short woman, but she makes up for it with her fiery hair and personality. Her eyes are a deep green, almost brown, with a long scar across her left eye. She is surprisingly swift on her feet for someone of her stature. It is said that she was incredibl beautiful before her scar happened and her skin was ruined by a herbology experiment gone wrong. She covers most of the ugly skin with leather armor and regular clothes, keeping her deep red hair down most of the time to hide the back of her neck. She wears a blue-green cloak when she travels, embroided with a skull holding a lavender branch between its teeth.

Skills|Quirks|Habits:
  • Petra is a trained herbologist. She can pick out plants and herbs, and make a variety of potions, salves, and concoctions.
  • Skillful with a longbow, she is a good hunter and she typically prefers to eat her own game.
  • She has an irrational fear of being poisoned and will always be suspicious of other herbologists or anyone who claims to be proficient with plants and herbs.
  • Despite not being particularly religious or believing in any one god, Petra holds a firm belief in the natural order of things; she has no qualms wringing an injured bird's neck, killing someone who has been wounded and has no chance of making it, etc. She will fight and attempt to heal those who have a chance of surviving, but believes that it would be highly unnatural and immmoral to bring someone back to life for example.

Personality: Petra is playful and flirtatious. She doesn't hesitate to joke around even with people she doesn't know, and seeing her without a smile is extremely rare unless she's deeply concentrated. Despite her age, Petra hasn't taken the time to settle down with a man and start a family even though she still secretly wishes for a comfortable life. She was never truly the adventure type, but she has a thirst for knowledge and to find someone who can share her passions and fears. She has three siblings, two of whom are part of the Royal army and another who runs the family-owned herbalist shop. She had been deemed unfit for running and inheriting the family business because of her lack of seriousness, and Petra has taken it upon herself to prove to her parents and siblings she deserves the heritage just as much.

Brief History: Being born in Hostania, Petra has had access to some of the best education she could dream of. Her parents were relatively well off and as the second oldest child, she was allowed to persue scholarly interests. She learned a lot more about medicine than what her parents could have taught her. She connected with a lot of high master healers, but she stopped short of becoming a high master herself. There was an accident when she was an alchemist's apprentice that left her body scarred with ugly burns, and the alchemist turned out to be performing unauthorized experiments.

Ashamed and left to the vultures of the herbalist and alchemist guilds, Petra left her home and went to live under a new identity, Rozann, but she continued to work as a herbalist. Instead of having a chance at being a royal court healer, she went to work with sailors and those who lived in the slums of the capital. On rare occasions she speaks with her mother, but after a fight with her drunk father (which earned her the scar on her face) she's kept her distances. Every passing day is another day where she loses a chance at winning back her family's trust; but she will stop at nothing.

Other:
  • Petra is actually a wonderful cook and can make anything from stews to roasts and soups.
  • She never drinks alcohol-based beverages, or takes anything that could alter her state of mind.
  • She sleeps with a dagger on a thigh holster at all times. She isn't particularly paranoid, but living in the shadiest parts of the city have taught her that extreme caution was better than being lax.

Written Appearance: Brown hair tumbles to the middle of his back in chestnut brown locks. It's usually kept free from his hazel eyes by way of braids and leather ties. Broad shouldered and a hair over six foot, the Zhaggarak native's build is well suited for his lifestyle. Though lean in stature, time and experience have hardened both muscle and resolve.

Skills|Quirks|Habits:
  • First and foremost, Alej is a skilled survivalist. Having grown in up in the Wastes of Zhagga, Alejandro has learned that you'll do anything to survive. Beyond his ability to do whatever it takes, he has a wide range of skills regarding offshore and onshore survival, including hunting, fishing, and gathering.
  • He has a habit of running his hand through the length of his goatee.
  • Proficient with blades and longbows.
  • Though one might not be able to tell, Alej is a religious person who holds the gods above all else.

Personality: Alej is a charismatic person despite his need to recharge after social interaction. The game he plays with others is one he often plays on himself. After vowing to leave his old life behind him, Alejandro reinvented himself to suit his needs, and thus The People's Savior was born.

Brief History: Alejandro was born in Zhagga, the capital city of Zhaggarak. Despite being the most extravagant of the isles, it's also the most dangerous. If one of the nesting wyvrns didn't kill you while fishing offshore, the pesky merchants and conniving nobles on land would. The first few years of his life were relatively unhindered by pain and loss. It all changed when his father was killed. No one knows if it was an act of the gods or if his mates killed him. But Alej lost his father when he was just eleven years old.

He did what he could to help his mother and siblings, going as far as stealing and pilfering through merchant estates. When he was old enough, the man started fishing offshore, against his mother's will, but for once he managed to rake up enough coin to move his family out of the Wastes of Zhagga and onto a nearby island. By then Alejandro was nearing his seventeenth birthday, and with it, a black storm on the horizon that would change his life forevermore.

Other:
  • He has a limited form of blood magic, one that was bestowed upon him once his bond with Alarehk was established.
  • He is one of the few men and women able to establish a bond with a wyvrn, thus elevating him in both status and class.
  • He is comfortable both on land, riding the waves of the sea, and flying through the skies atop Alarehk.
  • His favorite beverage are sweet, sturdy wines. Ale has never tasted good.
