Making new Groups

I was planning on starting a new Group RP thread, but when I look through the "Groups" section, I can't find a "Create New Thread" or "Create New Group" button.

Did the transition away from Groups already happen? If so, what's the alternate way of creating group-styled threads?
 
If you're talking about these kind of groups, then sort of. Creation of new groups has been disabled, but we haven't yet got a replacement system in place. The groups system is ancient and causes a boatload of problems with forum updates, so the decision was made to disable new group creation (I can't recall the exact reason for it, maybe to minimize how many people become affected by the groups system shitting the bed?) and look for a replacement. No suitable replacement has yet been found, but the search continues as far as I know.

You're stuck with the normal roleplay threads system and private messages for now.

We haven't been able to create new groups for like... a year? o_o GET INTO THE GAME RAZ!

GROUP ALTERNATIVES REALLY SUCK STILL. D:

I am hoping the current groups DIE OFF so I can uninstall it but some are still hanging on like little barnacles. >:/

Set the execution date and make it happen, else you'll be stuck with the shitty groups system forever. Those groups with 100+ members and tens of thousands of posts aren't going anywhere.

I have a neat little suggestion. :)

I'd encourage everyone to take their group activities to discord if you're wanting the iwaku groups to die off. It has all of the functions that groups has and a lot of people on iwaku already use it. For example, The Murder Group has threads in it such as an announcement thread, general chat, and RP discussion. We have a Murder discord server group that has the same things. lol. Plus, people could use discord to make their new groups on it.

Before I found discord, I was in a panic about the groups problem, but honestly now I just wish they would die off too so everyone from Murder would move onto discord. haha. Discord is more organized, not as buggy, sends messages faster, and does pretty much everything groups does. We've even used it for roleplaying.

The only thing that could be a downside to some, I would say, is that sexual content isn't allowed on discord. So no libertine related roleplays or groups could really be done on there. xD Ah well...

Anyhow, this is just one thing I like. Might be a bad idea for all I know, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyhow. Cause I love it. <3 ^_^

You got the issue of those are rather fast/instant RP's, much like Chat Roleplays.

If you're the kind of person who wants posts neatly stored and organised it's not as friendly.

It can be a bit less organized at times, although it is still manageable. Like the RP we have actually isn't very fast at all. It only moves every now and again. When writing a paragraph or two it isn't possible to write instant replies. But if you allow short replies, they will be instant replies. Then I'm sure sometimes it would get crazy. It all depends on how the group owners set it up. ^_^

Stop whining, Gwazi. :P Iwaku has teh Libertine section for all dat fun stuffs. lol.

Except other people I know (from Iwaku I should add) already made mature groups.
Now, I don't think they Libertine in them but rather just share mature content... But wouldn't that still be against the rules?

That's a good question. I'm not really sure. You'd probably have to look through discord's rules / terms of service or whatever to find out for sure. lol. But hey, if it is allowed then that's one downside of discord to cross off the list. XD lol. ...but if it is against the rules you might wanna tell your buddies on the server to be careful. haha.

Well, I just did a quick CTRL+F for "sex" through their terms of service and got only one answer:

"post, upload, transmit or otherwise disseminate information that is obscene, indecent, vulgar, pornographic, sexual or otherwise objectionable"

Which seems to suggest that both are against the rules... Shit. :(
