"Alright... Next matchups are Alex Amaya and David Sudari," said the giant in charge of training.
Alex greeted the news with his usual sigh. He had kept near the back of the group, so as to not draw too much attention to himself. Along with that, Alex wasn't a huge fan of crowds. He looked ahead of him to see the person that he'd be fighting. He was a stocky man, only standing at 5'7'', but looking like he weighed somewhere upwards of 250 pounds. On his back he had multiple weapons, the most intimidating among them a large greatsword. On his hips, he had sheathes for what looked like two more swords. Oh, great. It's a weapon-user. Of course it is. Alex worked his way through the crowd and onto the field to stand adjacent to David, where he had been waiting.
"Amaya, are you ready," asked the giant.
"Yup." Alex drew his short sword with his left hand. He had no intention of using, but in case his enemy got in close, Alex liked to have a fall back.
At this point, the chance for growth is pretty limited. All we'll do is lose possible advantages by showing how we fight. How bothersome. I wish we could have started the real fighting today.
"Sudari, are you ready?"
"Of course," David responded, already grabbing the greatsword at his back.
"Begin!"
Alex immediately began to back up as David drew his weapon all the way out. I need to put as much distance between us as possible. Alex created a gust of wind and aimed it towards David. David simply shrugged it off, realizing that it wasn't an attacking move, but a move of mobility. He rushed towards Amaya, holding his sword at the ready. His stance was passable, but nowhere near that of some of those that Alex had seen in the past.
Seeing his enemy rushing towards him, Alex was glad that he had moved back to begin with. Had he not, David would have already reached him, and it would have been over. He stopped the wind and crouched down, sword still drawn. He opened his right palm and faced it towards the ground. Instead of just a singular fireball, Alex created a stream of fire spewing from his hand. His intention was to light the field on fire and create a wall between his opponent and himself. He stood up and turned around in a circle, creating a ring of fire around him. Using his affinity for fire and wind, he combined the two to make the fire huge. They roared over ten feet into the air, and would continue to do so until Amaya or somebody else put them out. Magical fires could be dangerous.
With his ring complete, Alex sat back down, waiting for the inevitable sword strike that would come through the ring. Because David could no longer approach himself, he would have to swing blindly into the flame. When he strikes, it'll likely be horizontally. That way, he has a higher chance of hitting me. When he does, I'm going knock his sword out of his hands with a strong gust of wind.
Looking up, Alex saw the blade fly through the ring of flames. Mustering all the concentration he could get, he blew his strongest gust of soft wind up, hoping to knock the sword out of his hands. His gust hit, but his opponent had too tight a grip on the sword for it to go flying. Instead, it knocked both the sword and his hands up.
This is my chance. Calling on the power of his flames, he snuffed out the ring and dived towards his opponent. David was off balance from the gust of wind, and Alex had no issues grabbing his face.
"If you don't call the match now, Giant, I will murder him. A blast of fire to the face isn't too pleasant, or so I've heard," Alex shouted to the trainer.
"Winner, Amaya. You two may stop now," the giant shouted.
Alex let go of David and turned around to walk away. Behind him, he heard a quiet sob and the sound of a sword hitting the ground. Good. I hope he cries. At least that means he knows I've won. Pulling out a cigarette and walking to the back of the group, Amaya sat down and smiled to himself.
"Next matchup... Selvaria and Kisara."
((OOC: So, I'm sorry to do this after you didn't want us to, but I'm not really a writer. Should I have done something different with the fight? Anything I could have changed? Sorry to ask, but I do want to get better, too.))
