MAFIA

I have a few thoughts on the proposed role list...
-That would be two mafia to at least six other people if every role is included, which is good, but if everybody joins the next round...that's two to ten, which may be a little much.
-Do the neutrals work together, or are they considered loners?
-If the mafia tried to kill the jester, would they be told to try someone else or get no notification?
-If a neutral wins, it doesn't affect the winning/losing of the other two factions, right?


Now, something I've been itching to say...

In the round where @The Tragedy and @Kiilgore were both claiming doctor, y'all were assuming you had to pick one of them. That's a bit of a false dichotomy. You were already assuming a no-friction rule, which turned out to be correct, so...why not lynch a supposed "ally"? In this case, @Solaresque or @Starlighter. You lose the supposed chance of lynching your doctor while still figuring out which set of two is mafia. Thankfully, y'all got the right one first try, but still...^^' That was stressful for me to witness.
 
I must say, @Starlighter was pretty clever with their "Me being lynched won't change anything so go ahead" deal. @Solaresque was also clever with their reasoning.
Why thank you. *bows* I realized multiple times (once it was too late, naturally XD) all kinds of things I could have played a lot better, though. Looking back I keep cringing over all the moments where things turned south. Also sorry for killing you, you were just too smart to let live XD

@Kiilgore, I just wanted to say thanks for being officially the best mafia partner I've ever had. Fingers crossed we're on the same side this round too XD

So then are we not playing with escort this round? Edit: I also agree with what Joan said about the 2-10. I wanted to point out when the whole 'we should have two investigators' thing came up how that would give the town an (in my opinion unfair) advantage, allowing them two strikes each night while the mafia would only get one. I feel like the mafia should each be allowed someone to kill each night, or they should alternate each night choosing a kill and a fall back, but maybe that's just me being a sore loser XD

1- I thought having a couple of neutrals might balance things, but we can add another mafia or remove a couple of less popular roles. What does everyone think of having another mafia or less town roles?
2- Neutrals do not have to win with other neutrals, but they may choose to work with other neutrals if it fits with their win conditions. Neutrals win as long as their individual win condition is fulfilled- they may work with whoever they like to fulfil it.
3- I think whenever a mafia's target doesn't die I should inform the mafia that their target was not killed for some reason, but not why. So if they tried to kill the jester they'd be told their attack failed, but not why- so the mafia doesn't know if their target was the jester or was healed.
4- Correct.

I'm pretty sure there was something else I wanted to clarify, but I forgot. =n=

The escort seemed to be a bit of a confusing role with not enough use. I don't want to have too many innocent roles, so because of those weaknesses I dropped it. I can add it back it if lots of people want it, but I predict it will be as popular as other roles.

Seriously though I have no issue blabbing about what went down night one. XD Imma leave it up to @Kiilgore to say though, just in case they'd rather not have the beans spilled.

The only thing is that if there are enough townies then you might want to have three mafia instead of two. I dunno though.

We targeted the tragedy n1. Given that there was an investigator, we couldn't have a night of no death if we could help it.
Try to get the investigator, ya know? (That's actually the reason we chose pen. Because it seemed like he was trying to downplay the investigator.)

better than one of my previous forum mafia games.... I basically carried the team until I self killed due to transporter... Team wasn't using their abilities...

Hmmm....
Part of me is wanting to host/play a smaller game, max 5 people.
One maf, vs 4 cops of different sanities. The cops do not know what sanity they have.
(One gets 100% inno, one has a 100% accuracy with alignments, one has 0% accuracy with alignments, and one gets always guilty.)

(Aka deathy Mafia.)

Sometimes played with a free night for the cops to investigate, sometimes not.

Seriously though, this was done really well. I really enjoy how this game turned out considering how hopeless it seemed to be for town near the beginning. Mafia played extreeeemely well. Townies were wonderful to collaborate with. I had no idea what I was doing at points, but it worked, so XD

Anyhow, thank you dearly for the lovely game. I won't be joining the next game since uni starts again for me soon and I have enough rps and such as is. That, and people know what I'm actually like now :P Which I consider a disadvantage, since people can compare my behaviour between games or make decisions according to how I demonstrated my thinking patterns. I know I'd do that to other people so I'd have even greater bias and that's never a good thing. x'D

When I play mafia in person, I always get lynched because I'm super quiet (since everybody's talking at once while I try to think) and everybody suspects the quiet ones, but I get normal townie 99% of the time.

But here, I wasn't quiet at all, and I got killed by mafia almost first thing.

Not sure whether to laugh or just be amused and grumpy XD

That's very true; honestly, that's usually why I play relatively quiet/useless during the first few days of Mafia (I've only ever played online games tho so I can't say much about the in-person one hehe). Mafia tend to want to get rid of those that actually contribute or pose a threat (unless eliminating that threat will draw suspicion to them). Mislynches will be directed towards the inactive or silent (although mafia can be found out this way). I find it's therefore better to play active, but dumb at the beginning of the game, and in receiving proper evidence with which to begin making verdicts..... let loose. Kinda what I did as soon as Dipper was revealed (although honestly the lot of what I contributed was based on assumptions of sorts, still amazed it worked x'D ).

Make sure you give the post asking about interest a cookie rating to be included next round, since want to avoid including people who will be inactive this time.
 
As before, feel free to invite people! So far only 8 people have given me cookies, I think we can get a few more players than that though!
 
On the subject of how many mafia we should have, I think that should depend on how many players we have total. If there are four or more non-role townies, I think we should have at least three mafia.

Would you prefer to start with the current 9 players, or wait a bit and try to find some more? I'll change the role list as necessary to the number of players.

Nine sounds like a good number, actually. But if everyone else wants to wait, I'm fine with that too.
 
I'd rather wait a bit, but not too long. Like maybe a day or two, but not more.
