Macho Cafe: Chat & Roleplay Experiment!

Once upon a time Fujimoto Hinata was a beautiful young woman living in Tokyo, surrounded by the strong, brave men of her family that she very much loved with all of her heart. But the Fujimoto men were a rough n' tumble bunch, often making the kind of hot blooded decisions that could get a man killed. Delinquent fights, acts of dumb heroics, daredevil antics... one by one the silly fools got died. They left poor old Hinata all alone in the care of her dutiful granddaughter, Hiromi.

Hinata is not one to waste away without fulfilling her heart's desires, however! This eccentric entrepreneur has decided to open up one of those trendy cafes the youths like to visit. And instead of something cute like a tea parlor or a sandwich shop, Hinata wished to be surrounded by MACHO MEN. Handsome men of all ages are hired to be the staff of Macho Cafe, here to cater to the whims of giggling patrons with themed nights, costumes, and special events.

Now Hinata wakes up every day with a smile, knowing there are plenty of butts for her to pinch and attractive men to do her bidding. Her granddaughter, on the other hand, is not so amused and has found herself struggling to manage the business end of her grandmother's strange project.

WHY: Macho Cafe is just a silly thing made to be newbie friendly and easy to play -- and people love it too dang much. <3 Everyone really wanted to develop their characters, and I can't run the same ChaRP every week, nor can people always make it to scheduled date! We're going to test out this format and see if it's satisfying.

WHO: Everyone is invited! You do not need to get approved to jump in and play.

WHAT: You may play an employee or guest of the Macho Cafe! If you are an employee you MUST be a male character. After all, that is the point of the Macho Cafe. Customers can be anything. This setting has no magic or supernatural but is totally anime style, so bring out your favorite anime tropes and shenanigans. Bios and pictures are not required but highly encouraged! Post them here in this thread.

WHEN: Next ChaRP will be JUNE 18TH @ 12PM CENTRAL TIME. The roleplay thread begins after the events of the Casino Royale ChaRP.

WHERE: You'll find the CHARP in the CHAT tab when the event is about to start. Our roleplay thread is HERE!

HOW: This is a SOCIAL ROLEPLAY WITH IMPROVISATIONAL GAME MASTERING. That means the object of this roleplay is to interact with other characters, and from those interactions I will create a plot and story around you. The more interesting and developed your character, the more you interact, the more awesome the plot turns out! This particular setup is for silly fun and not meant to be taken too seriously -- but beware! All actions have in game consequences, so choose wisely! ChaRP events are pre-scheduled and typically last for about 4 hours.

In the forum thread I won't be doing much directing, that is up to YOU to develop your characters and story. You can continue scenes from the last ChaRP, write little story blurbs, post up logs from a private session you had with another player, or interact with each other! You basically have until the next scheduled event to add-on to the story in whatever way you want via roleplaying or short stories! Then the next ChaRP will begin the next "Chapter". If this works out, we will be continuing this until... no wants to play anymore! You can play in just the ChaRP, just the thread, in both, it's totally up to you. It will all count as the "Canon" of this silly universe.


REMEMBER My roleplays are always NEWBIE FRIENDLY so even if you are terrible at roleplay or have never participated in a roleplay before, this will be easy for you to get involved in. :D Ask questions, let me know when you need help.

NAME: Rei Tokieda

AGE: 18 (Third-year student at Tokyo Metropolitan Kokusai; on the soccer team, but is involved with so many sports that it's really hard to keep track of them.)

ROLE: Employee (Part-time)

APPEARANCE: Approx. 5'8", with light caramel-colored hair tied back into a small ponytail and mahogany-hued eyes. Light skin without any noticeable blemishes, except for some bruises on his legs from sports. Usually smiling.

PERSONALITY: Cheery and curious. He's got good manners, but sometimes his excitement can overtake those manners and make him seem a little too eager. A bit oblivious, but good-natured. Unintentionally flirty (he likes to give compliments and is genuinely nice, but many times he doesn't know that the recipient might not see them as "just something nice to say"), but is no stranger to romantic advances.

Name: Francis Oakley

Age: 19 (Goes to collage but often ends up skipping classes due to how easily distracted he is)

Role: Customer at Macho Cafe (However, he is considering applying for a job there)

Appearance: 4'11 in height , dark purple locks with light bluish/grey eyes. His hair is often messy and he is extremely pale.

Personality: Very anxious and serious, struggles to find happiness with himself. He has very good manners towards people he knows or trusts. However he is often rather quiet and annoying. He would rather listen to music then other peoples opinions, being rather closed off towards society. The teen is very respectful of others and wouldn't dare to harm/provoke anyone.

Name: Nomiki Sojimoto
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: Nomiki is extremely shy and socially awkward. She dresses in Mori style earth tones that let her fade into the background. Since she has a stutter, she avoids talking when she can. She excels in mathematics, geometry, and technical drawing. She is very curious, and has wide-ranging interests in arcane disciplines like Hermeticism, Sacred Geometry, Permaculture, architecture, science, and design. She has recently developed an interest in computer science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, but hasn't had much time to develop skills in those areas.

She usually keeps a journal with her, which she fills with esoteric geometric sigils, technical drawings of organic-looking buildings and cityscapes, design ideas for hydroponic systems, Permaculture gardens, and the like.

The journal is very precious to her, so she avoids drawing in it when others might be in a position to take it from her. It's not uncommon to see her with some hefty and arcane tome, like a volume of Buckminster Fuller's Synergetics, The Temple of Man by R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz, or a college textbook on math or physics.

Nomiki enjoys being alone in nature, meditation and Hermetic spiritual practice, cycling (she has a recumbent tadpole trike), and Tai Chi. She is completely out of her depth when it comes to the more common interests of those around her, like movies, celebrities, politics, sports, and gossip. She's also pretty inept at reading social cues. She often feels like an alien observer on Earth, forever separate from the humans. She does try to be kind to others in need, when she can overcome her shyness and awkwardness. She wishes she could experience their intangible treasures, like friendship and romance, but who wants to share those things with a Loser?

Bio: Nomiki's parents are driven high-achievers who only have time for her older brother Masaki, who is preparing to go to University to study economics and business and follow his father's footsteps in the family's investment firm. When they notice Nomiki at all, she is a disappointment in their eyes, seemingly unlikely to make anything of herself or even marry well. Masaki is not unkind to her, but he's much better at analyzing price-to-earnings ratios and commodities charts than relating to his quiet sister.

In school, Nomiki's stutter and quiet demeanor instantly marked her as an outcast and a target for bullies. When Nomiki was introduced to mathematics, it came as a revelation. 2 + 2 equaled 4, never anything else. Math was just true, never capricious or mean, and it didn't care what the popular kids thought. Since more often than not the popular kids thought it was "hard" and didn't like it, it became a secret realm for Nomiki that no one else could invade. Her love for it only increased as she discovered geometry, then algebra, and the fact that equations could be used in science, to predict things like the outcome of chemical reactions, the flight of rockets, and even the origins and behavior of the Cosmos itself. It was like a superpower!

Then her mathematical explorations led her to Pythagoreanism and the work of Buckminster Fuller. Whole new realms of math and geometry with the added bonus of a spiritual worldview.

Fuller's work opened a doorway into the realm of ecologically sustainable design, a purpose to which she can hope to apply herself. She keeps all this to herself of course, because there's no one in her life with whom she could even begin to share her interests, passions, and feelings.

There is a Macho Cafe-themed CHARP (Chat RP) coming up on Sunday Nov. 29th: OFFICIAL EVENT - ChaRP! Macho Cafe: An Autumn Haunting? - Nov Sunday 29th @ 2PM to 5PM Central

To join the CHARP, show up in Chat a few minutes before the starting time (2 p.m. Central Time). You don't have to post a character bio, but if you have one, you can post it here or in the thread for the upcoming CHARP. I don't think there's been any activity in the non-CHARP IC for this though.
