Greetings, one and all! :D Here comes Fluffy with an exciting new activity~​

Welcome to the Love Fest Poetry Activity. Here, we will be sharing poems that follow the theme of LOVE. Love can be defined in a few different ways. It can mean feeling great affection toward something or someone, it can mean having interest and pleasure in something, and it can also mean attraction. There are plenty of other definitions, I'm sure. This is just to name a few.

Before we begin, allow me to share a few pieces of information:
  1. The poem can be about any kind of love. It doesn't have to be romantic. Just show your love for something or someone through the magical words of poetry.
  2. Please keep in mind that this is just for fun. This is not a contest and I am not here to be a judge.
  3. You can submit as many poems as you'd like. There is no limit!
  4. Don't make the poem too spicy! As in, no smutty poems.
  5. Keep Iwaku's rules and guidelines in mind while you're here. It all still applies!
  6. Feel free to comment on each other's poems, but please be respectful and kind.
To help us along, I'm providing some ideas for themes we can use. You do not have to use these ideas. Feel free to use an idea of your own. All that matters is that it involves LOVE in some way. As for poetry styles, you're welcome to use any you want. I'm not going to ask for a certain format. I want people to be as creative as they'd like with this activity.

The Digital Cinephile's Lament


For my favourite movies, films
of glass and plastic oft divide me
from the worlds of light and dark
they bid me to inhabit.

How could I so boldly say
I've ridden through the desert with
Sir Lawrence, witnessed history
unfold without unfolding

according to the vision of
Saint Andrew of the Trinity,
or even died to live again
like Alexander's father

when I've only seen and heard
and not been full immersed?
 
Dovrei scriver queste rige italiane
quando conosco poco così?
Devo suonarti come un neonato
che cerca per mamma, balbetta per latte,

e disperatamente si affera al calore
prima che invariabilmente scompaia.
Ma lo chiamiamo pari: ricevo
il tuo inglese rotto, e tu

How could I write such serious verse
when I know so little of your language?
To you, I must sound like some naked newborn
searching for mother, babbling for milk,

and grasping desperately at any sort of warmth
before it inevitably fades away.
But let's call it even: let me receive
your broken, if earnest, Italian, while you

will learn to accept, to admire, to adore
my accent, my grammar, my gloss: my bastard
English.
