Locked in a Cage (with GaiusGermanicusBloodsoak)

"Yeah!" Hannah yelled in excitement as she ran towards the cannons and started firing them. Two cannon balls flew through the air and pierced through the other ship's hull. The sound of splintering planks could even be heard aboard of the Nec Aspera Terrent. The disadvantage however was that the men on the other ship now noticed that they had an incoming attack and Hannah saw how they were quickly preparing themselves to fight back. That wouldn't stop Hannah from shooting cannon balls though. Hannah just fired another cannon, when the ship suddenly dropped down in altitude, before stabilizing again. The cannon ball Hannah just fired missed.
"What the fuck was that?" Hannah asked slightly irritated.

Okay... fine! If Reginald didn't care, Yanaike would just stay in the control room of the ship. However she didn't feel like just sitting and waiting until the combat was over. No, Yanaike wanted to do something meanwhile. She looked around and remembered the book that Reggie had given her. However to fetch the book, Yanaike had to go to the main room and it was likely that she would meet either Reggie or Hannah there, and honestly she didn't really want that to happen right now. So instead, Yanaike decided to take a look at the mechanics of the ship. She fetched a screwdriver out of her backpack and took away the metal plate under the control desk. She crawled into the new space she'd uncovered. A whole space filled with gears of different sizes could be seen behind the former place of the metal plate. Yanaike was amazed and she started to wonder where they would be for. Maybe there might even be some unnecessary gears moving around? Yanaike used her screwdriver and detached one of the gears from the mechanism. Suddenly she felt the ship dropping in altitude. 'Maybe it wasn't a good idea to remove that gear' Yanaike thought as she quickly attached the gear again.

"God fucking dammit!" Reggie yelled as the ship dropped. Why the fuck had that just happened? He hadn't done anything and Hannah was nowhere near the controls. Was Yanaike somehow meddling with something? That seemed like it would be rather likely, and more and more he was wanting to string her up by the neck. "Shit! No time for fucking questions, just shoot!" As he issued his command, he fired more and more rounds into the hull and he saw what appeared to be a large explosion in one of the compartments. After that, no more shots were fired from the other ship and it began to slowly descend to the ground. "Fuck yes! Nice shooting Hannah! Time for the fun part, looting and stealing their shit." Leaning back in his seat, he waited until his breathing evened back out then made his way to the exit of the ship, motioning for Hannah to come with him. "I'm not even going to bother telling Yanaike. If she doesn't want to grow the fuck up and act as part of the crew, that's her own damn problem. Although I will have to question her actions during the fight. There will be some repercussions if she was what made the ship drop."

At first it worked and Yanaike felt the ship had stopped descending, however a little while later she felt that the ship was descending again. Oh no! So simply attaching the gear to the mechanism proved not to be enough. Yanaike took a closer look at the mechanism and noticed that the gear that somehow controlled the ascending of the ship, had now stopped moving. She had to make it move again. She had to make the ship ascend again, before Reginald would notice that something was wrong! Yanaike quickly detached one of the other gears and attached it in such a way that she connected a random moving gear with the non-moving gear responsible for the ascending of the ship. It worked! The gear started moving again and Yanaike felt the ship ascending again. Yay! Yanaike just hoped Reggie wouldn't have noticed the ship's descending in the first place

Hannah followed Reggie and the two left the ship and went for the ship that they'd shot down. Looting the captured ship's treasures was of course the most fun thing to do in a pirate's life and Hannah couldn't wait to see what would be aboard the other ship. On the other hand she was also excited that this would be the time to show Reggie how useful she could be among the pirate crew. She hadn't showed her magic yet and even though she only had access to a single spell, it would come in very handy!
"So Chris..." Hannah mumbled as she turned around, however she didn't came further than those two words as her attention was drawn by the pirate ship, floating a couple of feet above the ground, just far enough that she nor Reggie were able to reach the pirate's ship entrance anymore.
"What happened?" Hannah yelled.

Before he could bask in the glory of their plundered treasure, he spun himself around to see the ship rising. "Oh fuck no! He yelled as he dropped what was in his hands and dashed towards it. "Fuck fuck fuck!" he muttered to himself as he ran forward. Luckily, the stairs that allowed them to climb on and off the ship were still down, and he was able to jump up and grab onto them. Pulling himself up, he climbed the stairs and ran into the flight cabin. Hurriedly pulling some levers, he got the ship back down to the ground and this time he made sure to lock the controls. Now he needed to see what was causing the problem. For that, he went into the control room and was surprised to see one of the panels lying on the floor. "what the fuck is going on?" he asked himself and he got on his hands and knees to investigate. When he did so, he did not like what he saw. "What the everloving fuck do you think you're doing!" he yelled as he saw Yanaike messing with the gears. "Dammit, you better give me a fucking explanation."

She felt not obliged to an explanation. She hadn't done anything wrong. She was just experimenting a bit with the gears, trying to make the mechanism more efficient. A minor mistake had happened, but Yanaike had solved that pretty well. She was slightly afraid of Reginald in his current state and Yanaike crawled further away from the opening to the control room, crawling through small openings in the mechanism until she reached another room, the bottom of the room was filled with heaps of coal. Was this the fuel for the ship? At least she was safe here for now as she was pretty sure Reggie wasn't able to squeeze through the mechanism of the ship.

"Goddfucking dammit woman! Why must you constantly prove yourself to be such a pest? You're what caused the ship to fall when we were in the midst of combat. Why must you do this? Can't you for once grow the fuck up and act like an adult." To pissed off to care, Reggie walked off and came back with a screw driver, reattaching to panel. "Fuck with shit while we're trying to work, why the fuck would you do that?" One more incident like that, and she was gone, no questions asked. This could not start happening. She was endangering the lives of the rest of the crew, and this would not be tolerated.

Walking back out of the ship after he once more ensured that the controls were locked, he approached Hannah. "It was Yanaike, she's what caused the ship to drop and what caused it to nearly take off. She was in the control room fucking with the gears that coincided with the controls. I don't know what the fuck she thinks she was doing. Dammit, I spent to much fucking money on this thing to let it get away from me that easily."

Even though Yanaike had crawled away deeply into the hull of the ship, where the coal was stored, Yanaike could clearly hear what Reggie said. It kind of hurt how Reggie spoke to here. She still didn't realize what she'd done wrong. No! She was pretty sure she hadn't done anything wrong. Somehow Reggie just felt like punishing her without any reason. And on top of it all Reggie even placed the metal plate back, locking Yanaike inside the machinery and coal department. It made Yanaike kind of mad. Fine! If Reggie wouldn't treat her like a member of his crew, Yanaike wouldn't act like one! Instead of helping, she would start to sabotage the ship. There was nothing more fun than to sabotage equipment and see the reaction on people's faces. She figured Reggie would have locked the controls of the ship, since something had stopped the gears from moving. However that would not prevent Yanaike from messing things up. She started detaching random gears and attaching them at other places. Meanwhile with her tail she grabbed coal from the coal storage and placed that everywhere between the gears. Yanaike seemed justified when her work was done. At the moment Reggie would use the controls of the ship again he would find that most of the controls either wouldn't work anymore or they would do something completely different. And whatever control he used, it would probably also grind some coal as a side effect.

---

Hannah was kind of amused when she'd heard what Yanaike had done and she couldn't help but laughing. "I knew she was gonna cause trouble!" she said. "And something is telling me, you haven't seen the last of her yet. If I were you, I would banish her from the ship." Hannah didn't understand why the hell Reggie took her in in the first place. "But well, that's for later. First we have a crew to fight and a lot of storage to loot!" Hannah quickly added as she ran towards the stranded ship. She still had to show Reggie her magic.

"I don't think we have to worry about the crew. I saw quite the red mist come from the ship, so if anything, all we'll have to do is put them out of their misery." That being said, Reggie took out his revolver and made sure that it was fully loaded and saw to it that it was positioned at half-cocked. "Come on, shit won't steal itself." he hurriedly walked towards the ship, still highly pissed off at Yanaike. She kept this shit up and she'd have the barrel of his revolver shoved down her throat. Why couldn't he have just left her locked up in her damn cage and sold her? Trying to move on from that thought, he stepped cautiously through the wreckage and saw that his original assumption was right: everyone aboard was already dead. "Hah, poor dumb fuckers!" Reggie laughed coldly.

After a little while longer of going through the wrecked body of the ship, Reggie let out a noise, "Aha! Found the storage room!" He absolutely loved what he saw. "We're gonna get fucking rich from this shit!"

"You're being sarcastic right?" Hannah asked a little bit skeptic. The room they found was like a laundry. Men's underwear was laying all across the room and the scent that came from it... Ugh! Hannah almost had to vomit. "But I like your style" Hannah said, a smile appearing on her face. During her time working for the newspaper, she'd learned that it was rarely the normal facts that grabbed someone's attention. No! What the reader really wanted were these tiny nasty details about celebrities. Even though none of the readers would ever admit it, they would preferably see a picture of a celebrities' underwear than a picture of celebrities' speech. Hannah grabbed her camera and made a photo of the room.
"Let's go" she said impatiently as she'd finished the photo. She hoped there were still some crew members aboard so she could show Reggie her kind of magic, however she feared all crew members had died during the crash of the ship.

"Wait, you're just going to take pictures of some dudes underwear then leave? What the hell is wrong with you? Do you not see all these crates? Especially these large ones in the back! You go on a do whatever, I'm gonna take a look at these." Reggie carefully made his way to the back, heading towards the large ones in the back that seemed to be somewhat unharmed. "Oh, what is this? a lock? Oh gee Reggie, how ever will you get past this?" He said to himself sarcastically as he pulled out his revolver and shot at the lock, breaking it open. "Oh yes, come to papa!" What he saw made him nearly forget how much he was pissed off at Yanaike. What lay before him standing in the crate was what looked like a large metal automaton. "Hannah! Come look at this shit!" Quickly breaking off the locks of the other similar sized crates, he soon had a small fleet of robots standing in their boxes. "Holy fucking shit! Hey, it even looks like their steam tanks are fully filled." This had the potential to make looting this ship so much easier.

"So?" Hannah responded uninterested. Reggie might have found something more valuable between the nasty smelling men's clothes, it was still not something like gold. "Robots?" Hannah mumbled. "What do you need them for?" If Reggie was seriously thinking about taking robots in as crew members, Hannah would leave this crew very quickly. It wasn't fun at all to have robots around, besides Hannah had a far better solution for new crew members...

"Isn't it obvious? They do the heavy lifting and maintenance, and we do the fun stuff. You know, shooting, looting and boozing. As captain, I'm making the decision to bring these metal bastards with us, besides, it's not like they can do much else." After eventually finding a dolly, he wheeled the robot's crates outside and went back to the storage room. "Hannah, you go and do whatever, as you seem to have no interest in this shit, I'll be here seeing what I can find. Unless you want to help?" Reginald had no problem with going through this stuff by himself, especially if he found more stuff like the robots.

The words Reggie said repeated themselves in Hannah's head: 'Hannah, you go and do whatever... go and do whatever'. It made her think. What was she really doing here? A pirate adventure... But it was far from what she'd always imagined as a child. There were no cool pirate boys hanging around on the ship, besides Reggie there were not even any boys. Most of the crew was female! And Reggie didn't really seem to have any interest towards Hannah at all. There was no response when she'd flirted with him and she could probably never manipulate him in such a way that he would do exactly what she wanted him to do. And then there was the part of robbing other people's ships, that was far from how Hannah had imagined it. There was no killing, there was no fighting and there wasn't really any looting anything interesting. "Okay then..." Hannah said. Maybe a pirate-life wasn't her 'thing' at all. She wandered to the exit of the crashed ship, going back to Nec Aspera Terrent, ready to grab her stuff and leave.

Aside from the robots, Reggie found a few gadgets that seemed like they would come in handy on his ship and a bit of money on the bodies of the dead crewmen. Only thing left to do was take his loot back to the ship, which he gave to the robots as he fired them up. They worked perfectly and they marched mindlessly back to the ship. Making sure that the various objects were placed where he wanted them, he figured that he might as well go and find Yanaike to see what the hell she was doing.

Making his way to the back of the ship, he walked into the burner room of the Nec Aspera Terrent , where there was no light save for the warm ambiance provided by the coal powered burners. "Yanaike?" he called out, wondering if she was still in there.

Hannah had grabbed her stuff and had left the Nec Aspera Terrent. Since they were at ground level it was not difficult for her to leave. She'd just had to find some kind of human civilization, and then probably a police station. At least she could tell the names 'Reggie' and 'Yanaike', and she could describe how the ship looked and that kind of stuff. She'd threatened them to do that if they wouldn't take her in as a crew member, and thus it was only fear to do like she said. She looked back only once, to see an army of robots marching into the ship. She could have done that way more cooler! But oh well... It seems she was to good to be a part of the crew. Hannah walked away towards the horizon, ready for a new adventure!

---

Yanaike heard Reggie, but she didn't respond. And since it was pretty dark inside and Yanaike was partly covered by coal, Reggie couldn't see where she was hiding.

"Come on , we don't need to be playing any games now, but if you've been messing with the ship, you will have to deal with the consequences. I'm not going to let you fuck over my 2 million dollar investment." that being said, he decided to walk out of the room and back to the flight cabin, sitting back down in his chair. He had seen Hannah leave, but he didn't give a shit. Why couldn't he have a normal crew? One with members that realized that a hierarchy needed to be established.

Now unlocking the controls, he started up the burners to get the ship rising again. Only instead of rising, the ship just lurched and made violent noises. "What the fuck!" he yelled. This time he tried to get the motor for the propellers running, only to find that the burners were now firing. "God dammit!" He knew who was responsible for this, and this time, the price would be paid. Pulling out his revolver, he rushed back to the coal room. "What the fucking hell woman. Why did you do this to the ship. You're going to have hell to pay now!"

Reggie had seemed to have went completely mad. He was swearing constantly with sentences like 'What the fuck', 'hell' and 'God dammit'. And the worst of it all: in his hand he held a pistol. Did he plan on killing Yanaike? He'd fallen to one of the most deadliest sins of human kind: greed. The more possessions someone owned, the large the chance that something would go wrong with one of those possessions. Eventually, more stuff would only make someone less happy. That was why Yanaike never carried a lot around. She'd lived with what she found, and was happy with the few items she possessed. It was not clear however if Yanaike wouldlive much longer. She was intimidated by Reggie's gun. She felt more afraid than ever before. This was even nothing compared to how she'd felt when she was locked in the cage. Yanaike stayed hidden in the coal, without moving a muscle and without making any sound, in the hope that Reggie wouldn't find her.

Shutting the door behind him, Reggie made sure that he blocked it with a large enough cart of coal so that she couldn't get out. "Twice you've sabotaged my ship, this time you've gone to fucking far!" As far as he was concerned this had two ways to go, one: he flat out killed Yanaike. The second: He threatened her to the point where she was so scared that she would submit and comply. "Come out now and maybe we can reach an agreement. Hiding will only prolong your suffering." He slowly advanced forward and started to scour through and around everything. Behind furnaces and pipes, in dark corners, everywhere. The room was large enough that there were ample hiding spots, but he was sure that he had blocked the door with an object that would prove immovable for her. Reggie now turned his anger towards the coal carts, deciding to look through those.

Yanaike crawled out of her hiding spot only to move to another hiding spot. She was a master of espionage. Wherever she went, her footsteps could never be heard. And in the vague light it was difficult to spot such a small girl, covered by black coal stains. She, herself moved by using scent. She could clearly track the smell of Reggie, between the scent of the heaps of coal lying around. And she made sure, that wherever Reggie searched, Yanaike was never there, by quickly switching between different hiding spots.
Yanaike was scared. What was wrong with this man? Why was he so urged to kill her? Confused and scared she moved around through the room. She had plenty of things she could do at the moment by using her magic, but she was incapable of escaping.

Reggie kept hearing bits of coal moving around, but he just couldn't find the source. Where the hell was she? He was hell bent on finding her, and he was set on making her talk. He knew that she was constantly moving, and eventually, he found his chance. Off in one of the corners, he saw a long, thin, cylindrical thing that he assumed must be her tail. Lunging, he wrapped his hand around it and held on for dear life. He sure as hell hoped that he had actually grabbed her, however, but the object felt like what he thought a tail would. Pointing his gun in front of him, he pulled back the hammer. "Alright, I've got you now, stop resisting!"
