IC Thread

On the fifteenth day of April, 2013, satellites and ships traversing throughout the Pacific saw the Harbinger of end times.

A gargantuan colossus of tendrils and feathers, black sinew mottled together like endless string. It stood within the ocean, and its entire torso poked out from the waters. It was not faceless, but it was inscrutable, its eyes peering out - aimlessly, at first, until the first ship-crew swore that it gazed at them through its peripherals. For seventy-three days, it stood vigil - and not a single ship or plane dared cross its path.

The media dubbed it as some sort of scientific anomaly. American media - tinged with Judeo-Christian rhetoric as it was - likened it to the Four Horsemen, a sign of the end. The world erupted into bedlam, as they anticipated the next move of this… foreign invader. The committees that held themselves accountable for our safety and protection, in a wistful gallows-humor sort of way, dubbed it 'JUDE'.

As it happened, the hooplah was for naught, as Jude descended into the depths, and did nothing. It was dubbed, then, as the Calamity That Wasn't. More accurately, however, it was the Calamity That Hadn't Been… Just Yet.

The first incidence of Powered Human came on the day of its submerging.


  • The current year is 2017, and the world is still shaken from the Calamity That Wasn't. While the - dubbed by some as - 'Lovecraftian' giant appeared to do little in the way of world-ending, his submerging beneath the Pacific Ocean came on a fateful day. The first known case of a human exhibiting metaphysical powers. 'The Burning Man' as he was called, erupted into flames within minutes of Jude's submerging.

    He did not die, as the flames in truth did not burn him, they became him just as he became the flames. The world's first pyrokinetic. On the very same day, thousands of incidents of Powered individuals became known - with many of them ending in chaos at best, tragedy at worst.

    Eventually, the world realized it would just have to cope. The rising of a new sub-race of sorts, the Powereds, necessitated changes in policy, and the way the world approached matters of infrastructure, military and economy. A select few Powereds were potent enough to register as international-level military threats all on their own, while even more arose that had it in them to shift the power dynamic on a municipal to city level. Over the years, came the startling realization that, for whatever reason, power incidence was higher amongst the 'problem populous'; the socio-economically disadvantaged who had a tendency to turn to crime and violence.

    This occurred on a global scale. America's own answer was to establish the PRIT - the Protective/Powered Response and Investigation Team - a unit comprised of Powereds and Normals alike, instituted to combat the dangers to come.
  • About ten percent of the world population - no small figure - can be considered a Powered, humans blessed with unfathomable abilities - to bend nature, themselves, minds and other such phenomena. The comic book dreams of superhumans made reality. Although the majority of today's current Powered crop manifested the day Jude descended, Powereds manifest and/or are born to this day.

    As stated in the Lore section, incidence of Powereds seem to be highest amongst the socio-economically troubled, those likely to turn to crime and violence. Despite this, however, there is no outright proven link between the manifestation of powers and one's current situation at time of manifestation. While there have been cases of those near-death manifesting powers to save themselves, there have also been cases of well-adjusted, happily married middle-aged men who on one otherwise incredibly uneventful day, suddenly manifest. Along similar lines, Powereds are not necessarily known to have abilities that correspond with their background or personality (although, of course, the numbers game means that it certainly does happen).

    The nature of Powereds have changed the dynamics of the nation entirely. In particular, their rate of occurrence amongst prospective criminals have led to an era of increased criminality and violence. Criminal organizations - now typically armed with their own retinue of Powereds - hold an increased influence in society; after all, extortion is much easier done by a superhuman.

    One final lore note is that an even smaller percentage of Powereds are known to experience recurring voices and visions in their head. The voices are known to vary - being voices from an individual's past, or newly conceived ones entirely - but the visions have a recurring theme: the face of Jude, flickering in and out. Those that experience these visions are termed 'Listeners', and in many cases serve as the foundation for new religious sects and cults.

    OOCly, however, it should be noted that player characters should not have the following types of powers: mind-reading, mind-control, time travel, and instantaneous teleportation of self or others.
  • All player characters will be part of, or at least heavily associated with, the PRIT.

    The PRIT (Powered/Protective Response and Investigation Team) came about when the powers that be quickly realized that experience was all well and good, until you became horrifically outgunned by a superhuman. The PRIT was established to, first and foremost, pluck Powereds off the street, and then mold them into upstanding operatives with a singular directive: maintain order against those who would use their powers for crime. Naturally, results have been mixed.

    In practice the PRIT is an esoteric, poorly organized group of Powereds and Normals who nonetheless have quite a bit of experience dealing with other Powereds. While some of their number - typically Normals taken from other areas of law enforcement and government work - are model professionals, maverick-syndrome and problems with authority run rampant throughout the rest of PRIT. With that said, they have a track record for effectiveness in light of the job's difficulties; the mavericks of the PRIT, for this reason, have grown fond of the PRIT's primary nickname - The Fuck Squad.

    The PRIT is considered a federal entity, and are given a high degree of autonomy. As far as jurisdiction goes, they naturally have first crack at any matter that deals with a Powered. The player characters of the PRIT will function in the New Jersey and New York jurisdictions (which are merged jurisdictions). The PRIT has a variety of sites - abandoned warehouses, garages and the like - scattered throughout that can be used as a home-base.

    It should be noted that while PRIT members are typically known to do their own thing, there is one commonly spouted mantra. When it comes to Powereds: shoot first, and shoot to kill.
  • Rules
    1. Iwaku rules apply, of course.
    2. Not a stickler for post length, but posts should contribute in some way. Of course, this is a two-way street, and if one needs help in this regard, they need only message moi.
    3. We're projected to have Blue Stars, so keep it tasteful and appropriate. The setting may be dark, but it doesn't need to be egregiously graphic.
    4. Everybody posts at a different rate - try and put one in at least bi-weekly though.
    5. Use common sense and courtesy in all things!
    6. Communication is key! On that note, we also have a discord! Feel free to PM me for a link!
    7. For now, one character per player.

    Application process: Simply apply with the sheet detailed in the next tab over! Going to set a soft deadline of October 22, 2017 - with the IC expected to pop up a day or two later. Soft means it's flexible; if people need more time they only have to ask me (preferably with proof of concept) and they'll probably have it.

    I think the number of people that expressed interest is fairly manageable, so I anticipate accepting most-all sheets unless there's an unexpected influx (and of course, pending necessary edits). I reserve the right to lie through my teeth though, if I'm wrong.

    I'll be reading sheets as they're posted, and if any changes are necessary, they'll be communicated through PM.

    Skills/Abilities: (You don't have be Powered, nor is there an issue if every character turns out be Powered. Mind-control, mind-reading, time travel and instant teleportation are barred powers.

    We should also keep power levels in mind; at an upper-level,powers strong enough to level a block are actually perfectly acceptable, but in IC, the characters would naturally be handled more rigidly by their superiors/colleagues - and, of course, actual usage would be heavily regulated and/or have certain consequences.

    Otherwise, this is also where you'd mention non-Powered talents and skills; marksmanship, interrogation, or even nice happy day things like singing and dancing. Feel free to add a new section if you want, but commonly used equipment can probably also go here).
  • The story of our particular unit will begin with the case of missing girl Allison Munir, daughter of New Jersey Governor Arnold Munir, and her dog. A documented 'Listener', persons of interest in her case include the notorious Camerata Clan, as well as myriad other criminal elements; the Governor is a central figure in the current criminal war, being a target for extortion in regards to approval of certain land and property claims.



The "Bluebook"​

The colloquially named 'Bluebook' is the PRIT's compendium of persons and organisations of interests, typically associated with Powered activity - although also including those part of any other assignment the PRIT is privy to.

In practice, this section will be updated with important new NPCs as they are introduced, as well as updating entries for older NPCs and organisations. The following Bluebook should be considered an Out-of-Character entity, as it will also include information revealed in-thread, but not revealed in-character, or at least, not to all characters (feel free to ask me what is reasonable to know ICly, and what is not.)

  • Name: Lilian Simone
    Rank*: Director
    Age: Early 40s
    Sex: Female
    Description: Ice and steel through and through, Lilian Simone is the politically savvy Director of the PRIT, who reports directly to the Departments of both Justice and Homeland Security. Known for her ability to 'play the game', her recent endeavors include more stringent regulation of PRIT Operatives.

    Rank: District Commander (New York-Jersey)
    Age: 40s
    Sex: Male
    Description: One of the first documented Powereds, and one of the very first inductees of the PRIT. A gritty military man before his recruitment, he nonetheless opts for a free-flowing, laissez-faire style of command, setting tasks but avoiding micro-management. Well-liked, and highly effective, although considered to be a likely casualty of Lilian Simone's new initiative.

    *Rank: Rank in the PRIT is mostly applicable at levels of high command. Outside of that, seniority and merit dictate the internal hierarchy.

    Age: 17 (dob. 10/10/2000)
    Sex: Female
    Pertinence: Subject was last seen sleeping - disappeared the next morning. No signs of breaking and entering, no signs of struggle. Choice pieces of clothing missing from wardrobe, as well as her dog; reason to believe left of own volition, or was perhaps persuaded to similar effect. Subject is of some political significance; daughter of Governor Arnold Munir. Ascertaining her whereabouts and safe retrieval paramount.

    Other: Sleep-walker, known 'Listener'.

  • Name: The Camerata
    Date of Formation: ??/??/2016 (Likely Range: August-November)
    Leading Member(s): Andrea Camerata, Gennaro Camerata, Gaspare Camerata, Jeremy Camerata.

    The Camerata Clan likely began when the four Camerata siblings manifested - interestingly, based off the timing and location of incident reports, it is theorized that each Camerata brother gained their powers in a short window of time, if not simultaneously. Their original victims match up with our theory that they began as an offshoot of La Cosa Nostra, but later incidents firmly tie them to the massacres of the Bonanno and Lucchese families. Informants now name the Camerata clan as the core power of La Cosa Nostra.

    Have absorbed the established criminal infrastructures of their predecessors, and have shown a penchant for aggressive expansion. An uptick in LCN-linked crimes are expected to continue; the Cameratas have demonstrated a preference for violence over negotiation, and are more prone to escalation. Currently embroiled in turf war against the Honglou, and are tentatively allied with the Honyubi in this regard.

    Second eldest, Gennaro Camerata, is identified as the leading member. Gaspare and Jeremy are known as loyal enforcers, while Andrea's place in the power dynamic is mostly unknown.

    Pertinence: Powered. Boss of the newly created Camerata Clan, and a central figure in ongoing gang hostility. Tied to Governor Arnold Munir; attempted extortion to secure expanding properties. A figure of interest in the disappearance of Allison Munir. A figure of interest in no less than forty cases of murder and vicious assault.

    Date of Formation: ??/??/2013
    Leading Member(s): Edward Vriesen ('Superbeing'), Carl Reiner.

    Neo-Nazi faction given leveraging power in the criminal world due to the manifestation of formerly-reformed Edward Vriesen's powers, which - in sadly ironic fashion - has finally cemented his original beliefs of belonging to a chosen master race. Concentrated membership has increased dramatically due to the image of 'Superbeing', and de facto leader Carl Reiner's talent for hateful, yet convincing, rhetoric. Lack organization outside of ideological bond and hero worship. Employ a haphazard business model; member-sects pursue their own forms of profit, and kick up to leaders to earn favor and influence. Common endeavors include attacks on other criminal entities.

    Members of the 'Chosen Few' are known for extremism in confrontation. Hostile Powered members, in particular, should be terminated with extreme prejudice.

    AKA: Superbeing
    Age: 36 (dob. 09/15/1981)

    Rank: Leader
    Pertinence: A wild-card presence in the criminal hostilities, as the Chosen Few are not directly commanded by any central figure. Regardless, his presence is symbolic for the organization. Claims to have spoken to JUDE - an untenable lead, but should be considered if he is ever apprehended.
    Power: Possesses superhuman levels of strength, stamina and explosive speed.











  • Name: Honyubi (Four-Fingers)
    Leading Member(s): Unknown.

    An American offshoot of the Yakuza, consisting primarily of Japanese members as well as a small percentage of ethnic Koreans. A direct affiliate; the main branch has been known to 'export' highly trained Powereds to assist the Honyubi in ongoing confrontation. In return, the Honyubi have been known to kidnap American Powereds and subject them to exploitation by the Yakuza. Currently allied with the Camerata Clan to combat the Honglou.

    Are possessed of extreme discipline and discretion; few members have ever been positively identified, and none were considered to be in high standing. Their name derives from their practice of removing a single finger upon membership, as a mark of loyalty.

  • Name: Honglou (Red Hall)
    Leading Members: Ruan Xiaoyi, 'Da-Ma'

    Remnants of Triad and Tong offshoots that were eventually consolidated under the leadership of the Ruan family. Not known to possess ties with China/Hong Kong-based Triad leadership, but maintain a sizable membership all the same. Are considered to be highly volatile, unprofessional, and with a penchant for needless escalation. These characteristics - as well as the Camerata Clan's tendencies towards much the same - have lead to an all-out war between the two organizations.

    Leadership of the Honglou is family based. Ruan Xiaoyi is the first sibling of thirteen - all of whom have some part to play in the running of the Red Hall. Our reports indicate that Da-Ma (literally, Big Mother) is the true power, as she advises Xiaoyi in matters of critical import. Da-Ma is the aunt of the thirteen siblings.

  • While the organizations listed above are considered to be the primary pertinent powers throughout New York and New Jersey, the list is not exhaustive. The Irish Mob exists, although it has been waning for quite some time - still, rumors of a new powered leader merits some vigilance.

    It is common for smaller criminal entities - unbound by ethnicity or familial ties - to operate in the shadows of the Cameratas, the Honyubi, the Honglou. Those who are entirely unaffiliated should be considered the most dangerous, as their motivations are typically more intense, or perhaps even sadistic in nature.

Personality:
A bit of a problem-child, acted out a lot as a kid and took to petty crime. She's barely grown up, still acting out here and there and acting spoiled or childish at times. She still makes hot-headed or short-sighted decisions and can go a little rogue.

History:
Araceli was born in Spain in 1995 to a typical Spanish couple. She was raised there for fourteen years alongside two brothers and two sisters. As the middle child, she had some behavioral issues and took to acting out at a young age and began a lengthy career of pick-pocketing and minor theft. At the age of fourteen, her family picked up and moved to the United States in 2009 where her mother had been offered a stellar job at MIT.

Four years later, when Celi was 18, the beast appeared and despite their attempts to ignore it, their lives were changed. All five of the children manifested powers the very next day, almost simultaneously. The oldest brother suddenly started shifting in size – shrinking and growing repeatedly without thought. The second child, a sister, suddenly became electromagnetic, pulling and warping metals in her direction. The fourth child, the last sister, opened up a series of portals and nearly got herself stuck in a continuously falling loop until she was able to close the portals. The fifth child, and youngest brother, phased through a wall and got himself stuck halfway inside of it.

Celi; however, ended up on the ceiling of their house, along with those of her siblings who were not stuck in walls or nearly-infinite loops. Since all the kids were home for the summer, they ended up destroying the house and causing problems for a few neighbors. The oldest brother ended up size-shifting right through the roof and the oldest sister busted all the lights and pulled any metals out of the walls, off the walls, and from the neighbors' houses.

Needless to say, the family had to move and ended up going west into New York where Celi's pick-pocketing skills were put to the test and expanded upon in the summer before college. Her new-found abilities were also becoming helpful as she learned to control them. The family had only been in New York for a few months when she was nabbed while trying to nab someone's wallet. The young woman had been spotted by law enforcement. One thing led to another and before she could even figure out what was happening, she was being interviewed by PRIT officers. Instead of going on to college in August, Celi took a job with PRIT as one of their powered officers. She's been with them ever since.

Skills/Abilities:
Gravitational Manipulation – she can create, shape, and manipulate gravitational pull.
Stealth/Slight-of-Hand – Celi is practically a master pick-pocket by now, capable of performing slight-of-hand for personal gain, corporate gain, or for performance sake – meaning she's capable of doing minor magic tricks as well.
Hand-to-Hand Combat – Araceli took a liking to hand-to-hand combat training during her time with PRIT and became very good at it as well.
Close-Range Weaponry Combat - included with her training, Celi is skilled with short-range weapons and can be hard to take down in a short-range fight. Her fighting instincts are sharp and she can be deadly with either her fists or a small weapon. The same cannot be said if you hand the woman a firearm.
Polyglot – Knows Spanish, Catalán, English, French, Russian, and some German currently. She's capable of learning almost any language she puts her focus on and thoroughly enjoys the process of learning any language.

Araceli keeps the usual PRIT-issued weaponry on her person and also tends to keep a knife or two on her as well as a taser.

Name: Chani Khan
Age: 23 (March 5th, 1994)
Sex: Female

Appearance:

Chani is 5'1 and weighs 110 lbs. She has pale skin with a dusting of freckles, favouring her mother in skin tone as well as her facial features. Her hair and eyes are as dark as her father's, however. She quite likes wearing black eyeliner on her waterline to enhance the big eyes look.

Aside from that, however, Chani likes to wear practical if not boring clothes. Dark coloured tshirts, hoodies, and jackets along with cargo pants or jeans are part of her usual wardrobe. She wears normal sneakers or hiking boots. The only jewellery she sports are two small hoops in each ear.

Personality: Chani is a rather introverted individual. She prefers peace and quiet to the hustle bustle of the world, and would much rather curl up on a couch with her laptop than hang out with friends. She's not shy per say, but she doesn't feel the allure of interacting with many folk, leaving her without any friends for the time being. She's the sort of person who will smile at someone if she accidentally catches their eye, but she won't go out of her way to make conversations happen. Despite this, she does yearn to make a close friend or two, feeling envious when she sees others.

Though she likes to portray herself as someone confident, she is somewhat conflicted inside. Her self-confidence isn't as solid as she would hope for and she often thinks less of herself. Having gained a power has been somewhat helpful in this regard.

History: [spoili]Chani was born to Danielle Harper and Javed Khan. Her mother was a Canadian who fell in love with a Pakistani foreign student. They married as soon as they completed their studies, after which Danielle sponsored Javed. While many of her friends warned her that he simply wanted citizenship and once it was done he would abandon her, that was not the case at all. During this time, they gave birth first to a daughter, and two years later to a son.

Chani had quite the normal childhood. While she did know some people thought it was weird her mom was white and her father wasn't, it wasn't really a big thing to her and most of the children in her class were quite open minded about mixed race marriages. Her parents were quite open-minded about religion, her mother being a non practicing Catholic and her father a non practicing Muslim. Even as a child, Chani did like to think there was a higher power, so unlike the rest of her family she prayed at least once a day.

High-school wasn't a high point in Chani's life. While it wasn't as bad as it could have been, the work was harder and there was peer pressure a plenty to get into bad habit, including drinking and indulging in drugs. The fact that she was a virgin who didn't wish to have any physical relationship made her a little bit of a weirdo as well. As such, she would keep to herself for the most part, reading books or listening to music. She was already an introvert and had enough social life at home, so the seclusion didn't bother her much. It was more when her brother Alex became involved in bad habits that caused her high-school years to become worse off. Her parents were quite concern and the tensions caused strife between the two.

As high-school came to an end for Chani, her brother's problems only increased. Her parents sent Alex to rehab while they themselves tried to work on their marriage. As such, Chani had quite a bit of free time. She hadn't told her parents, but she'd already decided she was not going to go to college. Instead she started to work at a grocery store as a teller. She didn't see the point in studying further as odds were she'd end up with a job like the one she currently held. At least she was earning money.

By her twentieth birthday, she had saved up enough to rent her own apartment. Food money was tight, but her parents were still in the same city, and while they were upset with Chani's decision, they weren't going to let their daughter eat packet noodles all the time. They were also quite happy that she wasn't on the rotten track their son had taken.

April 2013 was indeed a game-changer. Her parents had been quite insistent that she return home, but Chani held her ground, refusing to return home. She managed to convince them that leaving her place while Jude was out would be sheer stupidity. However what kept her from going back to her parents, despite her wish to do so, was the fact that she seemed to have developed a very odd power. Without intending to she had lit her own clothes on fire, and yet felt no pain at all. It seemed somehow she could summon and manipulate fire without it actually burning herself.

It took a while, but Chani did manage to realize that she could control this power without simply letting it flare when her emotions were awry. By this time Jude was long gone and it seemed life was no longer at the brink of death. Things would never return to normal, seeing how many people were now powered, but at least they were alive.

Chani would have continued living as it was if it weren't for an incident early May in 2016. Her parents had received a call that Alex had manifested a power and that it was rather troubling; they could no longer keep him. By the time they arrived at the institution, it was too late. Her brother, whose power was invisibility, had used it to not just escape from the place but exact revenge on those who had been taking care of him. Most were murdered and others severely injured.

When they returned home, an invisible Alex was waiting for them, and Chani's parents would have met the same fate if it weren't for her attempting to light her brother on fire. Whilst he couldn't be seen, he could very well feel pain. Alex fled the scene before Chani could do any real damage to him.

Seeing it wasn't safe here for her parents, she convinced them to take a long trip to Pakistan and stay there for at least a couple of years.   • Fire Manipulation- Chani is able to create fire as well as manipulate both the fire she has created along with any other fire that is already present.
  • Cool under pressure- While she does get panicked, Chani stays calm enough to think through stressful situations and not make any rash and stupid decisions.
  • Speed reading- Having spent most of her childhood with her nose stuck in a book has allowed Chani's reading to be quite fast.
  • Trilingual- Chani is fluent in English, French and Urdu.
  • Cooking- Chani's able to follow recipes from a book which believe it or not is sometimes quite a feat.
  • Singing- Although getting a song out of Chani is like walking a cat on a leash, she does sing rather beautifully when it's coaxed out of her.

Tore is a rather cheerful fellow who likes to see people smiling no matter the situation as he does not see a point in being sad. That being said when he does start to feel negative emotions they affect him quite a bit and he will tend to fly off the handle. He loves music in all its form and will not hesitate to start to sing aloud or even play an instrument if he feels like it, sure this may annoy some folks but he doesn't care he just wants to share music with the world.

History:

Tore was raised in a low income house in the rough side of Belfast. His mother and father were both devout Christians and this was something that was a bit of a problem in the years before he was born due to the tensions between the two main religions that were common in Northern Ireland.

This came to a head after the signing of Good Friday agreement as some members of the Protestant faith did not agree with it and started to bomb homes. Tore's was one of the homes affected. As the people threw the bottles filled with petrol into his home, one hit his father straight on causing him to be doused in searing hot oil ,setting him alight killing him.

The attackers hearing the screams of a man only jeered in response before leaving to continue what they were doing. This meant that Tore was raised without a father figure and that his mother was forced to work jobs that paid low income in order to make ends meet.

Over the years Tore fell in love with music. At first it was the simple fiddle that he started to play but as he reached secondary school he slowly started to learn to play other instruments ranging from guitars to harps. His mind never seemed to be able to be filled by the sheer amount of musical talent that he had. His mother told him that he had the same talent as his father, they were both music lovers. His mother gifted him an acoustic guitar . This was the very guitar that had been passed down to his father from his grandfather.

When Jude appeared in the seas, Tore did the one thing he knew how to , play music. Going out to Belfast city square he linked up his instruments to the strongest speakers that he could and started to sing songs, songs of hope, songs of love; he sung anything that he thought would lift the spirits of the people around the world.Some of the people who were watching this performance of his started to stream this allowing it to reach not just a small city in Ireland but to other cities around the world.

It was during the end of his concert that his powers manifested. Lighting started to appear in the sky and struck the area around him. One of the bolts seemed to spear right towards him causing him to raise a hand up and catch it as if it were a ball. It was from there he learned he was able to generate and control both lightning and plasma.

Knowing this was a dangerous skill to have he instantly went and joined up with PRIT, while he may have crossed the seas and left his home country, he vowed to bring the musical skill he had with him.


Skills/Abilities:
  • Lightning and plasma manipulation and generation: Tore is able to generate high concentrations of both electrical and heat energy, this manifests as lightning and plasma.
  • Musical Talent: Tore is highly skilled in the art of music, you name an instrument more than likely he can play it rather well if not decently, this also includes singing.
  • Bilingual: He can speak both Gaelic Irish and English.
  • Dancing: He knows how to dance rather well as a side effect of being skilled in music.

In that case I'll just stick with one of the two characters I have ideas for and make the other one later down the line if we are allowed a second character.


Name: Kyle Rover

Personality:

A lone wolf for the most part, and not inherently friendly to others (be it good or bad). He seldom doesn't have a bored facial expression, and the chances of him showing any positive emotion are even more rare. The only exception to this rule is when he's feeling superior, in wich case you will always find a smug grin on his face. Usually condescending or unpleasant, unless he so happens to respect you (good luck with that though). Dose NOT like people.

History:

Growing up, Kyle was in and out of trouble. Not to get by mind you but just for the attention and for the sake of causing trouble. He never knew any real family outside from the "friends" he made while on the streets of New York, his parents died a long time ago due to an unknown cause. Though that's not to say Kyle didn't enjoy the freedom bestowed upon him, however a warm bed and a hot meal seemed to much to ask for back in his youth.

It wasn't until he was in his mid/late years as a teenager when his life would take a sudden turn, though weather this "turn" was good or bad Kyle is still yet to determine. He and is buddies were going to try and mess with one of the 'powered' mobs in the city, a big mistake for Kyle's friends... not so much for Kyle himself. They noticed that the group was preparing to move a large casket of some kind, one that was made of a strange metal. So what do they do? Steal it when they let their guard down of course! This would later lead to them being chased down by the gang, and have all of the teens killed one by one. All except Kyle, who for one reason or another was protected by a powerful energy barrier. How this came to be? Kyle didn't care, after all it's the reason he able to escape and live to see another day.

It wasn't until the next morning that Kyle had discovered that on that very night he had became a powered entity, one with powerful psychic abilities. Kyle knew that now that he had powers he would be seen as a threat, meaning life had given him an ultimatum... Get stronger, or die. Alone and backed to a corner, Kyle lived the rest of the following years not only perfecting his abilities but destroying anyone brave enough (or more accurately fool enough) to cross him. He isn't fond of the criminal infestation, but he'd rather die than be one of PRIT's dogs. So He fights for himself and only himself, taking up odd jobs for cash to get by, and taking down criminals on his off time.

Skills/abilities:

Psychic powers & energy manipulation- Telekinesis, levitation, flight (via telekinesis), reflective force fields, energy bolts, and other kinds of attacks... Kyle's mind powers are a weapon that shouldn't be trifled with, however there are some aspects of his power even he doesn't know about. Making Kyle a wild card to ALL people be it powered or not, good or bad.

Multi-lingual- Kyle can speak , read, write , and understand... English, Spanish, Japanese, French, Korean, Italian, Four different fictional languages, and even all of them BACKWARDS.

Adept Combat- Kyle has been fighting for all most all his life, and has picked up more fighting styles than he can count. Though he seldom uses them on people who are obviously weaker than he is (safe for criminals). His styles of choice are Boxing (when on offence), and Kung Fu (when on defense)

Cooking- Kyle may not be a famous chef, but he is more than capable of giving a few of them a run for their money.

Athletic pro- Sprinting, swimming, and sports in general are all good pass times of Kyle's. Especially baseball.

High endurance & Stamina- Kyle can not only take a beating should his shields fail (because they do), he can also stay in the fight for hours on end if need be.

Notes and others:

- Kyle isn't on ANYONE'S side (yet), he just beats up who ever tries to mess with him. He dose tend to cross paths with PRIT though

- Kyle isn't homeless (anymore), he dose live by himself in a place of his own.

-Kyle trust's strangers about as far as an ant can throw a dinosaur, do not expect him to be a team player anytime soon until he is given a reason to pick a side.

The following is a list of techniques that Kyle has developed with his psychic powers. Keep in mind that list will get longer overtime as Kyle is always honing his powers.

1. Psybolt - An orb of psychic energy, roughly the size of basketball. This spherical attack can be launched from a distance and even has a homing variant.

2. Psy-blade- A broad, blade like extension from the forearm, is about three feet in length. Kyle usually uses this on his right arm, though he is ambidextrous with this technique.

3. Psychic wave- A mid range sound based attack, it's jarring to the ears to those unfortinate enough to be on the receiving end.

4. Psy-Shurieken - A long range projectile in the form of a giant shuriken

5. Psi-Blast - a short ranged psychic blast, very similar to that of a shotgun blast. [currently his strongest attack]

6. Barrier - A basic force field, no added effects. Nearly invulnerable

7. Concussion shield - A force field that absorbs physical attacks from foes, and reflects them with psychic energy with twice the force.

8. Telekinesis - Moving objects and organisms with the power of his mind.

9. Flying - Kyle can fly by using telekinesis on himself.

10. Extrasensory - Kyle uses his psychic powers like a radar. Sending out invisible psionic pulses which reverberate back to him in an instant. Thus detecting constructs, energy masses, living things, and even projectiles within a 25 meter range.

Name: Sarah Elizabeth Pendleton

Personality: Fun loving, easy going and sociable are all words that could be used to describe Sarah although some people might prefer hedonistic slacker. While she is eager to prove herself, change the world for the better and make her parents proud, she's not particularly interested in the dull day to day realities of doing this, instead preferring the flashy exciting parts.

History: The only child of well to do parents in the home counties of England, Sarah had a charmed and uneventful childhood. She was educated at a series of small but well respected public schools and in her leisure time her parents made sure that she developed a range of hobbies including: skiing, horse riding, scuba diving and clay pigeon shooting.

By the time she finished school at eighteen Sarah wasn't the next Einstein but she had acquired the grades to get herself into a good university. Her choice to study Environmental Science wasn't what her parents had dreamed of but somewhere along the way Sarah had picked up an idealistic streak and had decided she wanted to do some 'good' in the world.

As a student Sarah was fairly unremarkable. She was bright enough to keep up with the work but somewhat too interested in partying and having fun to truly excel, ending up with a distinctly average degree. Where she did succeed was in her non-academic activities. Initially she had joined the universities boxing club on a whim, thinking that it might be fun to try but by the end of her second year she was taking part in and winning competitions for her university.

While Jude's appearance changed the very concept of what was normal for Sarah, at the same time it had very little actual impact on her life initially. For a couple of weeks after the beast had first appeared there had been chaos, fear and turmoil everywhere but mass hysteria rarely survives nothing happening and people had settled back into their lives. For Sarah this had meant sitting her final round of exams, party hard and finally moving back home. It was only when several months after Jude had disappeared Sarah's powers began to manifest that her life was really impacted by the events that had shaken the world.

It took her several months of secretive experimenting while her parents were out at work to even determine what it was that she could now feel every moment of every day. It took even longer for her to learn how to use her powers, a process greatly hampered by getting a job, but by the middle of 2016 Sarah was confident that she had enough of a handle on it to apply to PRIT.

Moving to the United States and joining PRIT had been Sarah's goal ever since she had first heard of the organisation. Her unfulfilled dreams of saving the environment had been pushed aside for ones of effectively being a superhero. The idea didn't exactly thrill her parents but they also saw the benefit of an organization that could train and protect their daughter. Equally they had recognised the look in Sarah eyes when they had discussed the idea and had known that it was a fight they were not going to win.

Skills/Abilities
  • Aerokinesis: Sarah can feel and manipulate the movement of gas molecules so that they travel against the diffusion gradient, allowing her to create pockets of elevated or extremely decreased atmospheric pressure. These pressure pockets can be shaped and directed although the larger or further away they are the harder they become to maintain. Anyone caught in these pockets can suffer from a range of neurological and physiological symptoms.
  • Pugilist: Three years of being part of her universities boxing team means that Sarah can throw knuckles better than most. That being said anyone with serious training will wipe the floor with her in a straight up fight.
  • Athletic: An upbringing filled with activities such as skiing and horse riding, followed by four years of regular training session has left Sarah in pretty good shape. She won't be jumping over tall building in a single bound, but long bouts of physical exertion don't phase her much either.
  • Scuba Diver: Sarah's logged plenty of dives in her life and is more than competent under the water.
  • Practiced Drinker: She went to university for three years, some things you just pick up.

Name: Sean Tucker

Age: 27 (August 15th, 1990)

Sean is not too tall a fellow, standing a little over 5'9" tall and of average weight. His skin is rather pale, almost unhealthily so, and he has dark circles around his sleepy-looking brown eyes from staying up too late at night. Despite these flaws, he still has a pleasant enough face to look at. His hair is a messy mop of dark blond locks, falling over his ears and eyes and reaching the base of his neck. He often wears a cap or a bandanna to push his hair out of his face.

As for his clothes, Sean likes to wear long or short sleeved t-shirts and hoodies, along with an old leather jacket his father gave him in his late teens. He favours faded blue jeans for the most part, and prefers black converse shoes over any other footwear.

Personality: While Sean looks nice and friendly enough on the outside, he is something of a brooding fellow, overthinking things, which keeps him from relaxing. He prefers to stay quiet and observant, though he will not shy from speaking and even lashing out at someone verbally if they are being jerks or purposely messing with him. While he isn't necessarily a coward, Sean can be rather paranoid due to events that transpired earlier in his life, causing him to take a while before trusting others.

However, once he has taken a liking to someone, he will become rather protective and even biased in their favour, going so far as to crack terrible dad jokes and deliver groan inducing puns at his expense to see the people he likes smile.

History: Sean was born to Nora and Seamus Tucker in Montreal, Canada. He had quite the normal childhood as he grew up. His parents were middle class and lived in the suburbs, so while he didn't have everything he wanted, he had everything he needed; life was good. It became even better during his tenth year when his parents adopted a little girl from India named Juhi. Sean was immediately an ideal big brother, and this love and protectiveness he felt toward his sister continued throughout his life.

High-school wasn't bad socially, but study-wise it wasn't the greatest for Sean. He was good in most subjects but mathematics was his bane, causing him to fail two years in a row, meaning he was nineteen years old when he finally finished his schooling.

However, that was hardly on his mind, and it was almost a miracle that he managed to finish high school with barely passable marks. During his nineteenth year, Sean and his little sister found themselves caught in a sick survival 'game' orchestrated by some psychos. He and Juhi as well as another named Lauren barely survived to live the tale. Juhi was able to cope with some therapy, but the incident caused more than enough stress and trauma to Sean. What made it even worse was when Lauren, who he had fallen for, broke up with him. He had a hard time even leaving his room for weeks, and was subjected to nightmares on a nightly basis.

A good two years of therapy finally brought Sean back to a normal sort of existence. He wasn't completely over the incident but he was no longer scared of simple every things. By the time Jude emerged, Sean was twenty-three years of age and was able to find a part-time job and his father's friend's furniture store. Unlike most others, he was not at all panicked by the eldritch creature's appearance. Humans were much more terrifying in his opinion.

At age twenty-four, his birthday in fact, Sean discovered he had something of a power. Further investigation showed him what exactly was causing him to suddenly break things. While he loved his family dearly, Sean decided he needed to live apart from people for the time being so that he could not only learn to control his powers but also find himself.

He moved to New Brunswick, where he stayed at his Uncle Caleb's house, or rather, in the woods that was part of his uncle's land. There, Sean build a tree-house for himself, finding comfort and solace surrounded by nature. He had his bare necessities as well as some luxuries like his uncle's WiFi. He also found himself the proud pet of a calico kitten he named Cathulhu.

By age twenty-six, Sean was quite stable and somewhat at peace. Having spent almost three years of a hiatus away from his family, he decided it was time to return. His parents and sisters were thrilled to have him back. However, Sean knew he couldn't stay here and live off his parents anymore. He had already made his mind to join PRIT. So after a few months of preparation, Sean left for America.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Super Strength- Sean's strength comes from building up energy in his fists and releasing it when it comes in contact with his target. Like this he can easily cause quite a bit of destruction with his fists alone. In the same way he can gather energy in his feet and release it upon contact. However, this is not as common as the above.
  • Shield- A work in progress, but Sean has been attempting to build up energy all around himself as a type of body shield. It is much more strenuous, however, so this is something as rare as the blue moon.
  • Pain Tolerant- Sean has always been pain tolerant, and with the current changes in his life, that has only increased.
  • Woodworking- This was something that Sean learned from his childhood from his father.
  • Cat whisperer- Sean has an uncanny ability of becoming friends with kitties. It's a win-win situation as he found cats helped him with his stress.
  • Story-writer- High-school was the pits but it did help Sean discover his love for story writing there. English was something he was good at and he had always had an imaginative mind.

It's unlikely I'll have one. For the purposes of the roleplay, I'll be stepping into the shoes of a myriad number of NPCs, as the narrative requires.
