Online availability depends entirely on what is going on in life. I have a kindergartener, a baby on the way, and I'm the spouse to an officer, meaning without me, the house becomes a fallout warzone. On top of all of that, I write for work as well as for fun...so work tends to come first.

The dragon riders have just found their dragons and are being teleported mysteriously to the ruined city of Ranas, where they have come to meet the mythical Priestesses of Kallydrana. With their new dragons at their sides, these young varonians must learn to cope with each other and their newfound destiny.

Day One of training - the riders have already begun to show their power in the ways of Arcanus as well as their prowess - of lack there of, for some - with their individual weapons. Now, we look towards Elements and the first chance that the young riders have to get to know one another, besides personal hours.

    Chosen
The story begins simply for most. A simple journey leading to a strange and life-changing find. It starts with a dream of a whisper or a song. A beautiful voice carried on the threads of the subconscious, wielding words of prophecy ringing deep within the soul of the one hearing it. Each dream is different, be it whispered on a breeze on a sunny day, among storm clouds amidst a nightmare, or from a beautiful woman, strong and fair. No matter the dream, the words are the same for each. And with each dream comes an epic find soon after.

Darkness dwells in the heart of One
Casting eyes far from the Sun
    Down upon the dragons' Glow
    Hatred behind his awful Blow

    Golden minds twisted and Dark
Seek to satisfy their selfish Hunger
Worshiped by the worst of Souls
If not stopped, t'will bring the End

In the hearts of Some shall find
The Seed that oft' gets left behind
With Minds of Ihnikxia bound Pure and Strong
Love shall take hold and Right all the Wrong

As each dragon is found by its chosen rider, just as foretold in the prophetic words uttered in each dream, their minds become one in an ancient and sacred ritual known as the Pact, bonding the two souls together as a single unit. This wave of raw Arcana can be felt by all, if only for a moment, and upon reaching the climax and succeeding in merging their souls together, each new pair finds themselves standing at a fountain of shining black stone. Standing in the very center of this fountain is a pair of perfectly symmetrical dragons - not like any of the dragons standing here, but much more regal...almost royal in appearance. Their heads held high, maws open in silent roars, crystal clear water spewing from them, they hold their talons together between them, and sitting at the very top is what appears to be a black gemstone roughly the same size and shape as the eggs some of the new dragons just hatched from.

"Welcome to Ranas," a familiar voice will say, "You have a great destiny before you." Three beautiful women will appear from behind this strange fountain, each with black hair, fair skin, and dressed in the finest of white silks. They will bow to each of the young riders as they appear and show the new pairs to their new homes, explaining along the way what is happening to them.

"We know you have many questions for us," the leader will speak again, showing each individual pair to a room already marked with their names, "And in time, those questions will be answered. For now, know that you are safe. Know that nothing and no one will harm you here. All will be explained shortly. For now, get comfortable."

Ranas, a city of legend, said to be destroyed during the Great War over a thousand years ago. And yet, the riders see no ruins near them. Perhaps this part of the city simply remained in tact. And yet, women said to have been destroyed have just spoken to each pair. The night air carries with it the chill of the mountains - mountains no one has ever seen. Something is awfully strange, and yet nothing has been answered. Nothing but what was on each rider's person was brought with them.

Now, all that can be done is sleep. For the morning will bring answers and possibly new friendships. But it will also bring more questions and hardships. It is up to each rider to accept them. After all, with hardship comes something never before imagined - dragons.

She was tentative upon leaving to head towards the dining hall, having seen a surprising amount of other men in the area with no women in sight. Practically clinging to her brother, Suki looked around both curiously and fearfully before they stepped in. The food on the table beckoned her suddenly aching stomach, which gave a very loud gurgle in protest as she moved with Raijin past most of the table straight for the three women who stood at the rear.

Fear overwhelmed her as what the three strange women said began sinking in. She would never go home. Never see Umira and the Elders again. Never tell Miikan that he'd have to find someone else to go to the Flower Festival. The failing of Raijin's words only made her own fear and feeling of betrayal by the gods that much more potent.

She let him do all of the speaking, and while she did not actively touch her brother, the young maiden stayed very close. She watched the priestesses remain silent and vigilant as the questions commenced, and her horror truly began to mount when she felt the eyes of another fall on her and begin to stare. "We are strangers to each other," she finally stated, her voice trembling slightly, "How can you expect us to work together if we do not even know each other? What if we do not work well together? What if some of us have families? People we love? How can you expect us to simply drop what we are doing and come and do the bidding of some random god that we may or may not even believe exists? That is unfair to us. And I'm not sure about some of you who have been torn from your lives, but I would rather just go home."

Answering Questions

So many personalities filled the room - there was bound to be a great deal of opposition. The priestesses remained still, small smiles on their gentle faces. They waited for everyone to speak who was going to do so before, finally, the leader began to answer each person, individually.

Illyria looked to Raijin first, nodding at him in understanding. "I understand that it is how you must feel in this...but I assure you that this is no simple game. It means life or death to all...even the gods, themselves. However, you do not owe them your entire life. They only ask for a single year to end the suffering between dragons and varonians, and in return, you gain the immortality and strength of a dragon as well as a companion and soul mate for the rest of your days, should you choose to forsake that endless youth."

She then turned to look at the dark-haired man, Tahvo, and actually gave a small laugh before clearing her throat and bowing her head as a slight apology. "You do not know that you can trust us, sadly, but we do hope that, with time, you can learn that we are not your enemy. And we do not wish to hammer religion onto you, but we do hope that you will sooner or later see the light of the Kallidyrre and our beloved Inhalla, some day turning your backs on the God Killer, Varon. But we understand that it is hard to prove the existence of higher beings if they, themselves, cannot simply show up. However, I am sure that with enough shouting, Inhalla will appear to us and prove that she is very much real. That will be all I say about the gods in name, as to not upset any of you. As for how you arrived, that would require a more...I suppose religious explanation. We drew power from Inhalla, and called upon the unique power of your Pacts and the bright lights within each of your soul...and when we called, your souls answered and brought you here through the Other World, itself."

Towards Ryyker, Xara spoke with a happy smile. "Looks can be very deceiving, young rider of the Black. Just as many of these riders do not look very capable, you do not look very kind...and yet I know that, deep down, you can be. Please, try not to make anyone too uncomfortable during your stay here. Having the Pact removed from your soul can mean a very painful death." She said this matter-of-factly, but with a frighteningly cheerful voice before stepping back and resting a hand on her leader's arm and turning to gaze out among the group.

Then came the shaggy-haired fellow, Tyr. For this, Carysalia stepped forward, her face growing stern as her piercing eyes rested upon him for a moment. "You are ripped away just as we were many hundreds of years ago for a greater purpose. We follow what guidance is given to us and are simply the conduits of the creators of our world. Though you blame us, we are not directly responsible for you being chosen for this task. If anyone, you should look to your Lord Varon for thanks. Besides...your desire to fight with that mighty battle axe of yours could not have been acheived as a simple hunter in the mountains near Badova Village, now could it?"

Illyria gave a small sigh, silencing her friend and speaking softly. "I know that this is hard for all of you, but I can assure you that life does not have to be so horrible. We will provide you with the greatest of comforts, offer you ways to speak to your closest family members, though you will not be able to say where you are or what you are doing. We will give you everything you need to feel at home here. All that we ask in return is to train with us, learn from us, and try to befriend your new soulmates."

It was around this time that the only other female in the room spoke. Illyria looked to Suki, a small amount of surprise on her face. This quickly turned into a sad smile. "I know that this is something that could be impossible for you. And I understand that your only wish is to return to your simple life in Badova...but I ask that you give it one week with us. Let us show you what it means to be a dragon rider...and if you still have not changed your mind by then, we will place you in a place safe from here to wait out what is to come...and perhaps after all is said and done, you might just be able to return to your old life...as long as you can take your dragon with you."

[fieldbox="Eli and Tyrale, maroon, dotted"]
Eli could tell that he was not making a good impression on the new fellow at all. So far he didn't make a good impression on anyone he had met since coming here, and though he still wasn't entirely sure what he was called here for, he already felt he was failing horribly. He decided not to allow another word to slip out of his mouth for a while unless it was to ask questions and get some answers, and with that goal in mind, he walked with the owner of the red dragon towards the Dining Hall. He had heard the woman's voice in his head again that confirmed his thoughts on going to the Dining Hall, where not only where they would be fed, but have their questions answered as well. When they entered the Dinging Hall he was met with several surprising sights, the most obvious one being the mass amounts of food set out before them on the table, his mouth nearly dropping to his feet. He had never seen so much food! He was lucky enough to get a second plate back at home! With only veggies!

Apparently his dragon agreed, staring at the food with such wonder and fascination. Through their newly forged Bond he could feel his dragon's curt emotions towards the food, wondering how he and his brethren were given a barrel of meat when this had been waiting for them! Of course he was very grateful that he and his fellow dragons were so well thought of, nothing against the priestess's hospitality, but there was plenty of wondrous food here with a wider variety. Eli was so stunned by the food that he hadn't realized he stopped walking till he noticed the Tahvo fellow walk towards the table and seat himself, which brought him to his next source of surprise: There were other people! People of different caliber, and it was then that he noticed that Rykker's comment from before was right, and there were a majority of males here than females. Not that he really cared. He was far too busy trying to get his newly changed life straightened out than to start hitting on the few girls that were here, and the poor things were probably just as confused and frightened as he was. Or at least...he hoped they were. He was done if every single person here had reacted far better than he did since first arriving.

He wasn't quite sure what to do, feeling the emptiness of his stomach from lack of breakfast, indicating that he was indeed hungry. But there was still too many things he wanted to know before he could just settle down and eat. He noticed two other people, one male and one female, and they looked very much alike. He could only assume that they were perhaps blood related, maybe siblings? Was it because of their blood relation that they were both Chosen as well? Or was it coincidence? Why was he asking these questions himself when the source of his answers were right there before him! He got the same idea as they did, following their lead towards the Priestess's, hoping that whatever it was he was looking for would be answered and sated. But no matter what happened, there was no way his life would be normal again.

He stopped a small distance away from the siblings(at least he assumed they were siblings by how much the resemble each other, though they could very well be cousins for all he knew), lingering a distance behind him in a habit. He never liked drawing too much attention to himself, and back home at his village, he was always easily over looked. 'Part of the background' as they always called it. So he didn't expect the sudden mention of himself when Rykker mentioned a 'clown', and he even went so far as to look around for this 'clown', thinking he could use a good laugh. It was always good to have some sort of Joker in the group. But then it dawned on him that the fellow was speaking of himself, and his head turned towards him in defence.

"Hey!" Was his brilliant comeback, and any hope of leaving a good impression on the rest of the fellow Chosen here was immediately grinded to dust and blown away.

So far things just weren't turning out well for him. He noticed the Rykker fellow giving the female closest to him a most inappropriate look, making him frown slightly. How could the guy try to hit on anyone at a time like this? These girls were probably confused and scared as he was! He had to show some restraint and respect, give them space, but Eli didn't say any of this. He didn't want to cause an unnecessary fight, especially since they were supposed to be working together, and he was sure that the gentleman beside the female would step in in her defence if he needed to. Eli just might make it worse and make it seem like he was only trying to butt in on the 'eye candy'-as Rykker put it-himself. So he kept his mouth shut.

Yet he didn't need to say anything at all, for the Priestess stepped in, and began to answer all of the Riders' questions. Eli almost didn't even need to ask any himself, for the others had already asked his questions for him, and each Priestess took the time and patience to give a full on answer. No short curt ones or riddles that lead to even more questions! That was a nice bonus. Usually when something like this happened, people were usually only given answers that was more of a question that lead to more questions which lead to answers that made no sense. He was very grateful that these Priestess's were going out of their way to give them answers. When one made the comment to Rykker that not all appeared as they are, Eli felt suddenly...lighter. Like someone had lifted a cloak that always covered his whole being just a bit to take a peek under, and said 'I see you' for the first time in his life. Perhaps the Priestess had no idea who Rykker had been referring to, that she didn't even know that Eli was here in the first place, but still it touched him. He still expected her to look over this way and say something like, 'Oh you mean him? Yes that was a mistake, however he got here is beyond us and perhaps a god's joke of humor, we apologize for the laugh. We'll send him on his way immediately.'

He felt a whack on the side of his head and rubbed his suddenly stinging cheek. {Ow!} He glared at his dragon. {What was that for?!}

Tyrale only narrowed his eyes at his human. How dare he think that his decision was such a poor choice by choosing this male as his life long soul mate. Tyrale released a short little growl before settling himself back down on his back, getting comfortable while reminding Eli to never have such doubt in his decision again. Eli frowned at the small dragon but seemed to understand, returning his attention to the Priestess's and Riders, hoping that no one else noticed the little exchange. As the Priestess's went on answering the rest of the questions, he slowly let it all begin to register and sink into his mind, though his chest filled with dread when they said they could never return home. That was...something. It felt wrong, and very much like a kidnapping, taken away from the life they had always known and grew up in, yet they absolutely had no choice in the matter because of some god or other.

For some reason that brought back a memory of Talin to Eli. It was the memory of when the older man had left his village, getting ready to travel the world, and they were saying their final goodbyes. Eli didn't know why he was having the sudden memory, yet he remembered it as if that had happened this morning instead of his magical transportation to this place, reliving every second of it as if the old warrior were standing right before him now.

Eli was in Talin's home, helping him pack, though in all honesty the guy didn't need help packing at all. He was going extremely light, carrying with him only a few changes of clothes and some food that could get him through the first couple of weeks before he would have to hunt, which wasn't a problem for a old warrior like him. Eli just wanted to spend every second he could with the guy before he would never see him again... It saddened and pained his heart to see the only person who believed in him leave. The guy taught him so much, and he had believed that Talin would always be there, but he should've known better. He was a Mercenary. A Wanderer. Eli wondered if he would ever get the guts to travel the world like Talin, though his curiosity only ever brought him to the woods in his backyard, never further. If he did though, however, he wondered if he and Talin would ever cross paths again.

"Why do you have to go?" Eli found himself asking, and he was ashamed of himself for it. He was trying to be an adult about this, to show that he was strong and old enough to be ok with this and trust in his mentor. But the question had been boiling deep inside till he could no longer take it and it slipped out.

"Because," Talin began to explain without his movements ceasing in his packing, his gaze never moving to Eli, as if he had been expecting the question, "It is the will of Inhalla."

This causes Eli to pause and stare at Talin. "What? How do you know this?"

"I just do." Was the man's answer. "Just as you will one day."

"But..." Eli pauses. "Why even do what Inhalla wants? What if it's something you don't like? I rather have you here, training and teaching me like always..." He hated the way he sounded, but it was the truth, and he couldn't stand just standing there saying nothing as he watched his mentor pack his things to leave him forever.

The old warrior finally stops in his task and sighs, but not of irritation or impatience, his eyes lifting to Eli and Eli could see the sadness and understanding in those old warrior eyes. "Son..." The man says, the word leaving Eli's throat all choked up like always. "Everything that you needed to know from me I have already taught you, except for this one last thing." He held up a single finger. "Every living thing put into this world serves a purpose. Many of us have forgotten that purpose and have dwelled ourselves into our own little comforts. Like birds we have built our own little nest with everything we could ever need and want, and we never want to leave that nest, yet it is only so big." His hands moved in a circular motion. "We are blind to the world out there. We are blind to the people in need."

He lowered his arms. "I always believed that me coming to this village was to train and help as many as I could in the use of the sword or any kind of weapon, to make fighters." A kind smile spread across his face. But now I believe that purpose was you. Now that I have taught you everything I possibly know, it is time for me to move on. I hear the calling of Inhalla. My place is elsewhere, and there I shall go."

Eli is close to tears, but he tries so hard not to cry. The man's words had touched him deep, and seeing him leave... It was tearing Eli apart. "Maybe the calling is wrong." He said as a last chance to try to stop the man.

The man only chuckles kindly. "One day, Eli, you will get the calling as well. I can only hope that I have prepared you enough for it when it happens, and that you will be ready. You will know, trust me, and it will be up to you to take the courage to leave to comforts of your simple life and take on something so much grander than you could ever possibly hope to achieve." He hoists his pack over his shoulder then, and he lifts a hand, tapping a finger against Eli's forehead. "There is so much going on in here, when out here," he waved a hand to indicate the world outside, "could be all that you are searching for."

The memory ends, and suddenly Eli felt such a calming presence over take him, ridding him all the doubts and fears he had had only moments before. Could this be what Talin had been talking about all those years ago? When you just....know something? Could this really be what his calling in life had been? That he was meant to take on something so grand as this? Would he really turn all that away? Simply because he didn't understand any of it and it had whisked him away from his comfort? The Priestess's were being far more than fair, he believed. They were given them choices, giving them a chance to contact loved ones even if they couldn't say where they were or see them again, and even allowed their own Sanctuary for themselves to live with their life long partners should they decide they didn't want to do this. A week. It was all they were asking, and it sounded more than fair. He could hear Talin's words as clear as day. He would need the courage and strength to take in the role his life had called upon, his purpose, the reason why he was born. If not this, then what else was his life good for? Everyone here seemed unsettled, afraid in their own way, unsure and worried. It was all very reasonable. Heck he had been screaming not five minutes ago. But he wanted to help. To try to calm the storm that was likely and slowly building, and if they were heroes then that meant the world was in danger. It would be up to them to stop it. It was going to be hard and he doubted he could do it, but taking Talin's words to heart, he spoke.

"I'll try." He said, and he wanted to kick himself. His voice had sounded so small and weak, still holding that doubt within himself. He cleared his voice, tried again, much stronger. "I'll try."

He looked to his fellow Riders. "I have no reason to speak. I mean I was on the floor screaming like a little girl just under an hour ago." He gave a weak laugh. After all if one didn't learn to laugh at himself then there was no point in laughing at all, and he might as well not hide the fact from anyone. "But I mean a week doesn't sound so bad. Sure it sucks that we can't ever go back to our lives before, but... I mean aren't they boring anyway?" He asked even though he wasn't really expecting an answer. For all he knew their lives had probably been great and perfect. "I mean I'm sure we wouldn't have been called upon if we weren't ready, and if our lives were exactly perfect the way they were. Even if some of us decide not to do whatever it is they're asking of us, just...look!" He picked Tyrale off his back, startling the young dragon, and he held him up for all to see like a scene of presenting a new lion cub to a herd. "We're Bonded with dragons! Dragons!! Who gets to do that and just decides to walk away from it?" He cradled Tyrale in his arms, who was looking up at Eli with blinking eyes. "To spend a life with a dragon is cool in itself. I definitely wouldn't want to go back to farming over flying on a dragon any day."

He sounded like a complete buffoon, and that had probably been the worst speech in history, but he was trying to see the lighter side of things. Especially after hearing the female speak, who sounded like she wanted nothing but to go home, he wanted some light to shine on them all. Especially since it sounded like they could never go home. There was no point in trying to fight it and prevent the inevitable. Maybe they could have some fun, become friends, anything! They were here, with dragons! The only coolest thing that had happened in his lifetime, and if he had to be the clown in the group.... Well then so be it. He could try to shed some light on everyone's day and be the butt of their jokes if he had to.

[fieldbox="Tahvo & Fierro, red, solid"]

Tahvo frowned, looking at the woman who had replied to him in that way that said 'I'm this close to having you executed.' It pained him greatly, to have inherited not only his father's face but also his facial expressions. From the bottom of his heart, he was only annoyed, he didn't desire death for that priestess. But the religious explanation she had given him was quite frustrating. There had to be a detailed method to it. Even if it was calling for the energy of a so called goddess, there had to be a set way of channeling that energy, and more disturbingly, of finding them in whatever place of the world they were, for bringing them here. He wasn't falling for any of that soul calling bullshit, and he didn't want to hear more about it either. Whenever his brother talked to him about anything similar it bored him to death. He listened to the other responses with attention, particularly irked by that comment about Lord Varon. Varon had never been his Lord, only to keep up appearances, because he had the bad luck of being born in a very religious household.

He turned to look at the source of the weak voice that announced he was willing to try. Looking at the red head, Tahvo raised an eyebrow. Really, he had been a screaming mess? He had been so engrossed in his book he hadn't noticed. He waited for the strangled speech to finish, before saying 'I like my life. And I'm helping feed a family, you know.'

~That is no life. You faking, you borrowing, no your life. Your life, so much greater.~ The dragon's voice resonated in his mind. Tahvo slowly focused his eyes at the small red dragon next to him, on the table. ~You, lord of war, rich, and noble. No blacksmith. You intelligent, you wielding iron, no crafting iron. You lazy. You fat.~ Tahvo turned fully towards the dragon, not believing what he had just heard, his eyebrow twitching. He looked down to check himself out. It was... True, his belly had grown a bit in size, something that wouldn't happen if he rode horses regularly and spent time in training grounds and sparred against other men, like he would be doing had his life not taken a violent turn. Which reminded him...

'I have another question.' He spoke up, straightening his posture again, looking at the priestesses. 'Many years ago, this strange incident happened. I was hanging out with my brother, I had a coughing fit, and I coughed up a small fireball.' Yes, it was a blatant lie. That was far more mild than what had actually happened. But he didn't care if the priestesses saw right through him, he just hoped they wouldn't out him as a liar. He didn't want to tell the truth, not for now, in front of all this people. A child murdering other children would hardly leave a good impression.

'It never happened again, as much as I tried.' He gestured at Fierro, who nibbled on his hand, now that he was full but felt the need to bury his teeth in something. 'Does that have anything to do with, well, this? Dragons spit fire after all, right?'

Rider of Black Ryyker didn't know but he liked the sound if that title. The priestess was right Ryyker was a nice person inside. He then narrows his eyes was he to take that threat seriously. Ryyker approached Suki and her brother before speaking again.
"We don't need to be strangers maybe you should come to my room and we can get to know each other on a more personal level." Ryyker said to Suki not caring what anyone else said Orthrax was just watching as Ryyker did all the talking. Ryyker even ignored Elis protest at being called a clown only caring if he scores a home run with the cute girl he's talking to.

Tyr blinked a couple times at the woman's response to his questioning of authority. She was... overly correct. He was sitting at his tabernacle with an axe strapped to his back and a sword at his side. He hadn't even thought twice when he brought them hunting today, why would anyone do that? It seemed entirely nonsensical even to him now, and all he could do was accept that she made an extremely valid point. Now he was overcome with his own nonsense and started a low chuckle. And then the "Rider of Black" fiasco happened... The man who was at the back a minute ago was now hitting on the only girl (besides the priestesses) in the room. This was arguably the worst possible time for something like that... She was likely pretty freaked out already, she sounded like she wanted to go home, and to top it all off there was another guy right next to her who definitely had resemblance to her, possibly a sibling? And with all of this happening, the guy was proposing that she go to his room so they can get to know each other on a more 'personal level'? Tyr just couldn't put up this front anymore. He burst out laughing. What had been a low chuckle was now a full-blown hysterical fit of laughter. ~Careful, this little laughing fit may have repercussions.~
~I can't help it, this is just amazing!~
Fafnir let out what was basically equivalent to a sigh.

Raijin was in a whirl of emotions. Anger, frustration, resentment, and shock. As he listened to the blasphemy the priestesses spoke of his God, anger seeped into his already frustrated heart. He held his tongue as they concluded by the words of the other men only served to fuel the flame within him. Then, the thin man with the dark dragon spoke out, his words like dry tinder. Raijin stepped firmly between his sister and the other man, casting a cold gaze in the stranger's direction, his hands curled into fists, like an archer drawing his arrow.

"You would do well to keep your room and your vile thoughts private. You've already displayed all that needs to be known of you. Suki would not dishonor herself so greatly for such a meager and odius fool as yourself." His words seethed with venom exhibiting his disgust at how predatory the stranger was acting towards Suki. As if he would ever let the reprobate near her.

He denied the man any opportunity to respond then as he redirected his words to the priestesses once more. "How dare you speak of our God Varon in such a manner. He has delivered life, bounty, and all the riches of our people into our hands. He has protected and propagated us for thousands of years and you speak of him with such spite. How foul a thought to call Him a 'God Killer' in the presence of his people. If he has killed any god, it was for the sake of the Varonians, for he is our protector. Your words lack truth. When this week is over, we will depart from this place and return to our homes, away from your perverted prophecies." Everything in him wished to leave, to take his sister and retreat to what refuge they could and wait out the week so they could return home. He felt disgusted with the priestesses and now likened them unto blasphemous cult leaders and the company was beginning to repulse him. While the majority of the strangers were little cause for concern, the behaviour of the one brought mistrust to the many.

Fear began to consume Suki as the man who had spoken of her and looked at her with such degrading eyes stepped close to her. She could feel his breath on the back of her neck, held still in her complete terror as he spoke his invitation. Trembling slightly, her eyes darted towards her brother, who was almost consumed with his anger as he stepped between the pervert and her. A small amount of relief was felt as he spoke up for her, and her tense body relaxed ever-so-slightly. She was afraid of men she did not know - terrified, even. How would she ever survive this if she was the only woman there? Even with her brother there to keep her safe.

Then, another burst out in almost hysterical laughter. Unsure of whether or not this was directed towards her encounter, the maiden tensed once more, her hands curling into fists as she fought the onslaught of tears that threatened to overwhelm her. Closing her eyes, she focused on centering herself, but just as she had, a tiny, silvery puddly darted in and leaped at Ryyker, his oversized wings giving him the air he needed to latch himself on the man's shoulder as ferociously as he could.

"Kou?" Suki turned to see the little Mercury growling and hissing as he fought to defend his rider's honor, his mind entering hers and speaking.

~If your twin can't hit this monster, I will!~

"Kou, stop it! I don't want this!"

~You want to be protected. Can feel that much. Dragon defends rider. I defend you.~

"You're just causing a scene, though. Please, stop."

With an internal sigh, the dragonette shoved from the man's chest and leapt over Raijin and into his rider's arms, giving a low growl and invading the man's thoughts as powerfully as he could, in hopes of causing at least a twinge of pain. ~You stay away, monster!~
Suki looked at the angry, black blob that was Ryyker's dragon from over her brother's shoulder, knowing that a fight was going to break out between the two, and clutched her dragonling close to her. "I am sorry for my dragon's behavior. But please, I am very uncomfortable with you being so...flirtatious." She hesitated with the term, unsure if it was the right one to use with his obvious show of attraction. Hiding directly behind Raijin, she cowered slightly before turning to look at the priestesses and hearing what the man had to say.

Illyria gave a small sigh to herself, realizing that calling Varon a God Killer before those who followed him was a stupid maneuver. Being so old, it was hard to remember a time that she, herself, had worshipped the God. "I apologize for my outburst, Master Imeara." She bowed her head formally. "I did not mean to upset you. With so many years behind me, I forget that my mind was once devoted to Varon as yours is now. I will not speak of it further, for I know that you have yet to even know of the other gods and doubt their existence."

The head priestess quickly turned to look at Tahvo, a slow smile rising on her lips. "Yes," she said tentatively, "And no. You are gifted with the friendship of the Element, Fire. It has chosen you to be its companion in this war that brews on our doorstep. While your own dragon may breathe fire, however, not all dragons do. That is a misconception. Perhaps the dragon that has chosen you took into consideration your friendship with Fire, even though you did not know you had one."

Meanwhile, Xara gave a soft smile towards Raijin and Suki. "I am glad to hear that you will give us one week, at least. We welcome your presence and your decision."

Suki, meanwhile, found herself uncertain once more. She was not as devout as her brother, though she lacked faith in any other god besides her Lord Varon. How could she when she had seen the bounty of the land her God had granted her? Still, could there possibly be something else? She had always wondered if a single god really could create so much.

"Lady Priestesses...might I ask...I know that our Lord Varon did not bring the dragons, for it states in His texts that dragons are evil. If He did not...who did? I can see now that dragons cannot all be evil...so perhaps...there might be something in your words that is true. Even if I cannot believe that Lord Varon ever killed another god." She hated how ridiculous she sounded, and she knew that she would not hear the end of it from her brother. Still, her curiosity took hold, and she found herself wondering what else was out there.

Ryykers next comment was directed at Raijin. "Your words mean little to me, I have little care for your incestious relationship and I'm ready for action." Ryyker raises his inviting a fight with the man. "How about a bet I win I get the night with your sister." That's Ryyker said before a dragon pounched on him. Then Orthrax let Ryyker know that she wouldn't stand for that. Orthrax was sprinting in Sukis direction leaping at the other dragon her claws posed to rip and tear. "How dare you touch my master your going to regret that action you lowly mongrel!"
A smile forms on Ryykers lips he was more then pleased by his Dragons actions. "Do as you wish Orthrax." Was Ryykers simple reply.

[fieldbox="Eli and Tyrale, maroon, dotted"][dash=green]Like always, it was like Eli didn't even exist, his words lost immediately in the tension that soon followed after his little 'speech'. He didn't expect some sort of applause of course, or even that much notice, but he had hoped that at least some of the fellow Riders would feel a little better about their predicament. But perhaps they all had better lives before this. He didn't have a hard life he didn't think. Sure food wasn't the easiest thing to come around and he spent every minute of every day working the farm or training, but it was a good hard working life. At least he didn't live in the streets. But this seemed a whole lot better than the boring life of a farmer, that was for sure, and he actually liked the idea of having a companion such as Tyrale. He wasn't a very religious person, sure, but it wasn't like he was anti-religion either. It was more like he just wasn't exactly sure what to believe in... Many people believed in different things, so it was kind of hard to tell what was real and what wasn't. Reek wasn't exactly helpful in that department either.

Though Eli didn't really expect a response, what happened next completely threw him and he was left standing there, mortified as he stared at the man he had come to know as Rykker. Did he really just suggest to the only female in the room what he thought he was suggesting? That was.... No. Just....no. At first Eli was willing to pass off Rykker's comment as a good humored effort in trying to get 'lucky', but when he continued in his endeavors with the brother-which Eli had no doubt of considering the man was defending the girl-Eli didn't appreciate at all what he was saying. How could the guy hit on the girl in such a disrespectful way and even expect that she would say 'yes'? Surely he had to understand that he wouldn't succeed and only wanted a fight, which proved to be true when he made the very invitation to the brother, but luckily the man seemed to be done with the whole conversation. Eli was relieved that a fight wouldn't be encouraged, but apparently....the dragons had other ideas.

First it was the dragon that belonged to what Eli assumed had to be the female's, since the little beast was beyond furious at the man who had made a move on her Rider, but thankfully the girl was calling her dragon back. This wasn't good. Eli could feel the tension in the air, thick and heavy, between the three of them. The fear and nervousness from the girl, the anger from the brother, and the itching need for violence from Rykker. Though it seemed like it would all finally be over, the girl turning away to speak with the Priestess, Ryyker's dragon had decided to make her own move. Now Eli found himself in a position very close to the small crowd that had formed around him, so when he saw the blur of movement, his body simply acted. He didn't think about it. He was only moving, leaning forward to stop the chaos that was about to ensue.

Tyrale reacted first, however. He sensed his Rider's movements, knew what he was going to do almost before he did, and so he leapt off of Eli with faster speed than the human could have at the time and went right for Orthrax. Since the black female had already been moving from the start, it was most likely going to be a very close call if the Ruby succeeded, attempting to grab the female by the tail. Being hatchlings and not at their full potential, it is uncertain if Tyrale would even succeed in stopping the other dragon, but if he did then he would grab hold of the black's tail and pull her back with whatever force he could muster, using a beat of his massive wings to help yank her back as he maneuvered his body to get between her and the female Rider. He would then begin speaking frantically in the Draconic language towards the black dragon.

{Stop this!} He demanded. {We are not the enemies to each other, surely you must see reason! Nothing is solved through violence.}

Eli was caught a little off guard from the swift movements of the dragons, but he quickly recovered, Tyrale's example to step up to the two males to try to release the tension that was there. "Ok ok," he said, trying to work his way between them, though the brother didn't really seem as ready for a fight as Rykker was. Still, the male obviously held a lot of tension, and anything could probably snap him. Of course who could expect everyone to accept this so easily and so soon? Despite Eli's big talk, this was still crazy and unbelievable, plus he out of everyone had reacted the worse possible way to this situation. "I know I'm not one to talk, but I suggest we take...er...." He motioned towards Raijin. "This gentleman's suggestion and just try this for a week. Then we can do whatever it is we decide."

He turned his emerald gaze towards the source of the problem. "Look, everyone is on edge, so can you please leave her alone?" He motioned to Suki. "For one thing it's disrespectful and she has enough to deal with as it is. Both her and her brother. If you want a fight then maybe you could focus your attention on whatever it is the Priestess's need us to do and what we have to do to protect the world? Besides, you said you were more than qualified, right?" He asked with a lifted eyebrow and a slight smile. "Surely you have better things to do than using your....talent...on them?"

Of course Eli didn't quite believe this nor did he like himself saying this. But this man was a little...unpredictable, and he obviously had an ego about himself. He hoped that by feeding it a little he would get his attention off the two siblings and have him worry about other things than looking at this female and try to get her to come to his room. Which just wouldn't happen. But Eli saw that by trying to tell the man what he should do would only fuel the fire, so he was doing his best to douse it without the need for violence. Whether or not he succeeded was anyone's hope but one could only try, after all.[/dotted][/dash][/fieldbox][dash=green][/dash]

The foul words from the stranger did little to anger Raijin, rather he felt a deep pity growing in him the more the stranger spoke. He had known men like this before, vulgar, free of any sense of courtesy or integrity. It betrayed the absence of any strong roots and informed Raijin that the man had a very pitiful past indeed, to have become such a shameful image of a man. Whoever raised him, if anyone, had to have been a disgusting excuse of a parent. In that moment, Raijin felt proud of his upbringing, for no matter how turbulent, how traumatic, it had not been so terrible that he would have grown into someone as pathetic as the stranger with the black dragon, someone lacking any sense of self. And yet, the fact that Suki had become the target of this man's perverted past set a bother about in his mind.

Raijin was about to dismiss himself and his twin when a surprise assault of dragon hatchlings began. First, Suki's newfound companion came out of nowhere, a silver streak that quickly connected to the shoulder of the orange-haired man. By the time Suki got it under control, the black hatchling had tried to form a counter attack. Raijin moved to stop the little creature but was met by yet another young dragon who seemed to be playing the peacekeeper, followed shortly by a red-haired man who Raijin quickly decided he would trust, at least to some degree, for the time being.

Raijin was impressed with the attempt at diplomacy by the red-haired rider. He began to realize that the odds were, most of the riders were respectable individuals, not at all like the man that had his eyes set on Suki.

"I'm sure his talents would be utilized elsewhere, somewhere far, far from here. And if it's all the same," he looked at Rykker then, "my sister is not a coin to be wagered. You would do well to remember that women are not objects."

~What a fascinating difference in your personalities!~ Came a little voice in his mind, accompanied by the slow click of talons on stone. He turned and saw the shimmering hide of Ren as she strolled in, belly full of meat, scales shimmering in blues, purples, and greens. ~And it's fun to see how much each of us are like our riders! Orthrax is being quite nasty, like her rider, and Tyrale is acting just like his rider. Now if only Kou could control his temper like your sister!~

Rai had never heard a dragon laugh before, but this little one did, and the odd sound seemed to draw his attention from Rykker for a moment, calming his agitation. "A bit late for the party, aren't you? Come, we were just leaving." He said with a smirk to the little dragoness that had come to his side.

~A dragon has to eat, Raijin.~ The little creature flicked her tail at Raijin, reminding him much of how women tossed their hair and dismissed dumb men.

"Suki? Perhaps your questions are best left for a less hostile time. Nothing good comes of bad company and I daresay this bad company is unavoidable here." His expression was stern, the tension in the room still running high. Turning, Raijin cast a glance to the man that had stepped in between the pairs, giving him a nod in thanks. He would remember the man's actions for the future and as for the aggressive delinquent, his actions would not so easily be forgotten either.

[fieldbox="Tahvo & Fierro, red, solid"]

Tahvo took in the priestess' response, unsure of what to think about it. He made a small 'hm' and looked down at the small dragon chewing on his fingers. ~What does it mean that you chose me?~

~That. I chose. Egg, but I know, I see, I hear.~ The dragon replied in his strangled way of speaking, but the way their souls communicated made it so some auxiliary mental pictures popped up in his rider's mind, so he could get the complete message. Fierro's attention was dragged away by the noises the other dragons made. He raised his head, completely stetching his neck. A battle! So soon! And he was more than qualified for it. Unlike other dragons, his body was strong already, his wings beautifully proportionate, his teeth sharp and ready to tear flesh apart. Flexing his rear legs, he prepared to jump towards the other dragon and join the battle. But as soon as he leaped, Tahvo caught his tail in his hand. And as much as he pulled and hissed, the human was too strong for him. He sat again in place, a swirl of smoke leaving his nostrils as he huffed in frustration.

Tahvo had kept an ear on the argument without showing too much interest. If the adressed girl chose to lie with that man, it was up to her. If her brother chose to step in to 'defend her honor' or whatever nonsense, it was up to him. He just took mental note of how the man with the black dragon was absolutely disgusting. It would be better to stay away from him, in order to not stir trouble. He looked at the group of arguing people. He made sure to memorize the unlikable man's face. The siblings were easy to remember, since they looked so much alike. He took note of how the two seemed cool headed. Those were safer to approach. And he decided he was starting to like the red haired man with the other red dragon, even if he seemed a bit childish.

Making a small cup with his hands, he scooped up his own dragon, and brought him close to his chest as he stood up, ignoring the ~Party killer~ and ~Asshole~ that were constantly streaming into his mind. How had Fierro learnt bad words so quickly, so soon? 'Thanks for the welcome and the food, Priestesses, but I think it'll be better to retreat until things have cooled off. Should you need Fierro or me, we'll be on our bedchamers. Farewell.' With a small nod of his head, he turned towards the red haired man and his red dragon.

'You should leave too, if you're unsure of the way you talk, or you'll keep on giving speeches, and the fish dies by its mouth.' Depending on how Eli wanted to take it, it could sound like a harsh critique and even an insult, with Tahvo's cold voice and his expression of disdain. Tahvo meant it as a nice recommendation, but he often was the one to 'die' by the way he talked. And with that, he made his way out of that place.

[fieldbox="Emelyn & Lyka, red, solid"]Orchley Groves, a little haven and small town known for their famous fields of endless beautiful orchid trees, fresh air, and pleasant little villagers. Despite being a small town, it's people were always lively day after day. It's streets and roads always busy, especially during the weekends as the town's children run amok. Even the farm houses, a short wagon ride away from the center of town are teeming with busy bodies. One home in particular, was full of hurried feet and chatter as their pregnant cow had just gone into labor. Though not everyone could say they were entirely excited for the ordeal. The house's twelve year guest was hold up in her room meticulously cleaning and reorganizing her shelves and closet. Humming a soft tune to herself as she tidied up, every now and then tossing an article of clothing into a basket near her door. She stops for a moment at the sound of a hand rapping against the wood of her door, to which she called them in.

"Emelyn, are you going to come watch the birthing?" Her god mother, Loreena, asked after having opening the door and entering the room. Loreena, was a stout and shapely middle aged woman. Her russet brown curls were tied back into a loose bun, so her long hair would stay out of her face while she helped with the cow in labor. In correlation to this, her attire was decrepit looking with stains and holes. The woman rested her hands on her hips as she looked around Emelyn's mess of a room. Emelyn didn't really have to answer her, it was easy to see that she was already preoccupied.

"It seems you're already at work with your room. This is a lot more than what you usually give away." Loreena mentions as she squats down to the basket and begins to rummage through it. Most of the clothing wasn't bought recently, in fact some of it years old. Though, it wasn't like Emelyn's old clothes didn't fit her since she hasn't grown much in size over the years. When the young lady started to speak Loorena shifted to look up at her with an interest.

"Ah yes... I have saved up a lot of coin over the past year, so I thought maybe I'd get some new things? Some of the dresses colors have faded with the passage of time." Emelyn explained to her. She had a small smile on her face as she smoothed out the dress she was currently wearing inconspicuously. The material looked lighter, as the day was a bit on the warm side, and colored a lovely lavender. The design of the dress was obviously for the warmer seasons, as it allowed for more skin to show. Not too much as Emelyn is a very conserved woman. The neckline was a sweet heart shape, showing just a little bit of cleavage, and the sleeves were about mid-arm's length. While the top half of the dress was fitted to Emelyn's small curves, the rest of the dress was billowy and swayed around her legs as she moved about the room.

"Shouldn't you save your money so you can visit your parents next year?" Emelyn's god mother began to chide softly. Emelyn's shoulders began to droop a bit, as the woman had a point. Next year Emelyn was supposed to return home, to test the waters. She had originally come to Orchley Groves because of her health complications as a child, but now that she was older she seemed to have stabilized her health. After her last doctor's visit, she was told that now would be a safe time to return home. If her health declined again, then she was welcome to come back and live at Orchley Groves permanently.

"Mother sent me a bit of coin for the trip. I should have enough saved up when the date of my departure arrives." Emelyn retorts as she started to shift through a pile of books that had recently been given to her. The sound of Ilvon calling for his wife could be heard from the first floor of the home, and Loreena quickly dropped the subject and excused herself. After the woman shut her door Emelyn sighs as she starts to shelve the books by alphabetical order. Next she started rummaging through her desk drawers which was filled to the brim with drawings, old and new alike, as well as some journals full of her own notes. It looked a cluttered mess, so she began to pull the stacks of papers out and begin to sort them accordingly. She found this to be a bit more amusing for the time being, as she reminisced of the moments she had captured on paper. Everything seemed so new and exciting in those days, but lately she could feel her life growing stale like week old bread. Coming across several pages of depictions of a peridot dragon reminded her of some of the best times of her childhood. The details were extraordinary, and underneath the dragon's bust is a neatly written note reading "Lithe decided to pose for me today!"

It had been many years since she had seen her childhood friend, and Emelyn felt a twinge of guilt tug her heart strings. She wondered how Lithe was doing these days, and debated silently with in herself on whether or not she should go visit. Would Lithe even be happy to see her? Would it be seen as cruel to reconnect with her friend, only to leave a year later? She couldn't very well leave with out saying good bye though right? Sure they hadn't seen each other in a long time, but that didn't mean they weren't friends. When was the last time she even saw her friend? She recalled having spent her eighteenth birthday with the creature, so around three years? Yikes. Having thought long and hard over what to do, Emelyn decided that it wouldn't hurt to at least see how Lithe has been doing lately. Now the question was whether or not she should bring anything to show the dragon. It had always been a bit of a tradition between them that Emelyn always brought something new to show to the dragon. Maybe one of her new books? It was the latest edition of biological studies, usually about new species of animals that had been discovered in other parts of their land and updated information on other creatures. Normally these books were extremely expensive, but a well endowed man from the town had purchased the book and allowed her to borrow it for a while. She could feel her cheeks blush at the thought that perhaps the man is infatuated with her, thus his kindness, and then imagining Lithe tease her about it. Such a cheeky friend she is! Emelyn immediately shook the thoughts from her mind, and started to back a bag paper, pencils, and a book or two.

She quickly said good bye to her god sister, and close friend, Alycie, and left the house in a hurry. It would take her around twenty minutes to reach the forest, but it was early enough in the afternoon that she should be back right at night fall. She didn't want to be caught out in the dark, since she couldn't defend herself, but she still didn't feel a sense of urgency about possibly loosing track of time. Her village wasn't usually strife with violence of any sort, so she didn't expect to be mugged or attacked. Walking down the path she passed a neighbor and waved courteously to them in passing, with a polite smile. The Millers were very nice people, and wondered how their youngest was doing. She used to baby sit the lad when he was just a kid, but he was now old enough to work the fields. Eventually Emelyn arrived to her friend's home, a mossy and swampy forest and begin to search for her friend. The forest extended for miles, but there was a small pond just a short ways in where Lithe usually sunbathed. In order to find her way, Emelyn had previously marked the trees with ribbons and paint, and as she traversed the woods, she found that they had nearly rotted or faded away. She made a mental note to replace them during her next visit. Her sandy blonde bounced around her shoulders with each step, and she could feel herself growing hot from the work. Taking a ribbon she tied her wavy locks up into a high pony tail to allow the back of her neck to receive some air, cooling her just a little. her steel blue eyes observe her surroundings curiously, hoping to spot an animal or two. Occasionally she'd stop to listen to the birds and the rustling of the leaves as the wind rolls through gently. After a bit of a walk she finally finds herself coming across the bank of Lithe's pond, and begins to search the area for her friend. The corner of her lips tug into a frown as she realizes that Lithe isn't any where to be found. Finding this odd she calls out to her friend, and there is no response.

This seemed odd to Emelyn, but she persisted. She decided to walk around the large pond with the notion that maybe she'd find her friend sleeping on a rock somewhere on the other side, or near by. As she begins to circle the pond, every now and then she'd call out to no avail. She could feel her heart sink at the thought that maybe Lithe had gone away because she stopped coming to visit, but Emelyn quickly dismissed it. The forest was teeming with life, food that Lithe could eat, and plenty of algae and moss. There was no reason for Lithe to leave, if everything she needed was right here. Eventually she sighed and sat herself on a fairly dry rock by the water's edge. Taking out a journal, she decided to make something out of her visit by sketching the nature around her. As she began she held her thumb up in front of her to get an idea of the size and proportions of what she was drawing, and her eyes caught something odd. Just by the bank of the pond was something glittering in the sunlight. It was just a faint twinge of light reflecting off whatever it was, but noticeable never the less. Stuffing her journal back in her bag she scurried over the the water's edge to see what it was. The object was oval in shape, fairly small, with a bright green surface that glittered like a gem. Leaning down Emelyn attempted to brush the gunk of moss and mud off it's surface mistaking the object to be a gem of some sort. Though when she touched it she could feel something overcome her senses, and immediately with drew her hand gasping at the sound of a cracking. It was alive! An egg! Stepping back she watched in awe as the egg began to wiggle as the creature inside began to struggle for freedom. Amazed by her luck , Emelyn pulled out her sketchbook and began to sketch furiously. She wanted to capture this moment, burn it into her mind. She had never seen dragon hatching before, and not many people ever got the chance.

"Remarkable!" Emelyn exclaims as a large crack breaks the surface. She could hear the sound of chirps and guttural growls as the creature clawed apart it's shell. The cracks become larger, as the baby dragon uses all it's might to burst through. Eventually the shell gives way allowing for a tiny clawed paw to break free. Emelyn looked around again for any sign of Lithe, wishing the dragon could be here for the hatching. Emelyn had no idea that Lithe had been pregnant, and mentally kicked herself for not being there for her friend, but she was here now and wanted to make sure the baby was safe until her mother arrived. When the egg toppled over, she dropped her journal and stopped it from landing onto of a rock. Sighing with relief, she gently placed the egg back in it's nest, just as a large piece of shell chipped away. Curious Emelyn tilted her head just enough to peer inside, seeing the torso and tail of the baby peridot. Words of encouragement escape off Emelyn's lips gently, and the creature twists it's self inside and wiggle it's way out of the gaping hole. Not even fully out of the bright green egg, the dragon's deep vibrant green eyes lock with Emelyn's steel blue ones and something with in her shifts. Emelyn's eyes widen, and she could feel herself leaving with the exhale of her breath. A tiny heartbeat, not of her own, rings in her ears as the world spins around her. She could see not with her eyes, but with her soul, and it is beautifully moving. Then for a moment she feels a pull towards something she doesn't quite understand, and in an instant everything changes. She is herself, but there is something there that wasn't there before. She is overcome by feelings that are not her own, feelings of curiosity, playfulness, and concern. Why concern? Emelyn asks herself, and she sees herself through eyes not of her own. She is crying, but not out of sadness but from the sheer beauty of it all. She is sure that this creature, basking in this beauty with her, could feel her too. Feel her wonder and awe, and that she too is curious of the stranger before her. Then there is calmness, as both accept one into the other. Emelyn feels herself return to her body, feeling the same but not rightfully so. Feeling as if a void that had gone unnoticed for years was just filled to the point that it overflowed inside her...making her whole. Again she is moved, and she reaches for her companion, taking the egg into her arms, and cries out once more. Hot tears streaking her cheeks as she holds the creature close and begins to carefully pick apart the egg, so she could scoop up the baby into her arms and keep it close. The two sat there in silence as the young grilled cried, the creature purring and chirping as if trying to comfort her. A tiny little voice ushers into Emelyn's own mind, saying nothing but sweet words.

~You, okay. Lyka, understand.~ The voice says, not fully capable of coherent speech. She sounds just like a baby finally learning to string words together. This thought makes Emelyn choke out a laugh, effectively allowing her to calm just a little. She places the creature down unto the floor feeling hungry for some reason. Her eyebrows knit close together in confusion, as she had eaten just an hour ago. "No. Lyka hungry. Silly!" the childish little voice exclaims and immediately Emelyn understood that the feeling was not of her own. That was certainly something she was going to have to get used to, but she decided to worry about it later. Her friend was hungry...

"Alright, well, I'll just take you home then..." Emelyn says with a shaky breath as she wipes away the tears from her eyes. When she looks away from the dragon for the first time, the realization hits her like a horse. They are no longer in the forest. Instead the scene had been replaced by a room that appeared to her in day dreams. The room she always wished she had. The space wasn't to large, but much larger than her from back at the farm house. The walls were painted white, with beautiful paintings decorating them. A large bed tucked away in the far right corner of the room, with sky blue sheets and white pillows. At the foot of the bed was a large chest to put clothing and other essentials in such as blankets. A bed side table with an oil lamp, and plenty of surface area to put other things onto like a book or maybe a cup of tea. Next to the table was a large window frame, two white curtains, and a rectangular pot for growing herbs. To the left was a comfortable looking chair for reading followed by a large book shelf lined with books. The bookshelf taking up the majority of the left wall, before stopping at another large pot used to hold small tree like plants. Next to that was a desk for studying, and finally a door. Deciding to explore the room later, she stands up with Lyka in her arms and exits through the door. She enters into another room that looks like a place to meet with guests. There is a fireplace, several other plants, a seating arrangement for multiple people to sit, and a door in the fall wall. Emelyn's attention quickly falters to her baby dragon which is writhing in her hands. Looking to the right Emelyn notices a barrel that reeks of meet. She would have to find another place for that, but never the less takes some meat out of the container and gives some to her friend.

Not much shortly after a voice beckons for her to visit a gathering hall where she herself can find a meal as well as an explanation. With a curt nod, Emelyn empties out her bag unto her bed, and stuffs it with meat to take so her dragon can eat as well. She didn't want to leave Lyka all by herself, because she wasn't sure if it was safe yet. Luka didn't seem to protest, and the two quickly made their way to where they were supposed to go. As she leaves the building, she notices that night was beginning to fall, and that the sky had changed from a blue to an orangey color. She must have appeared some place where the sun was already beginning to set. Tonight all the third moon would be at it's peak, and Emelyn thought of star gazing with Lyka later. Maybe teach her some of the constellations.

~Much excite!~ She hears her dragons voice ring out in her mind once again, as they can see the hall just up ahead. Curious, Emelyn began to rush over to the large building. Unfortunately as she approached she could feel nervousness creep up inside her. This was all so strange and confusing, and Emelyn just couldn't make sense of it all on her own. She tried not to be scared though, she had to be strong for her new little friend. The sound of raised voices can be heard on the other side, making her swallow hard. That certainly wasn't a good sign. As Emelyn pushed the door open a jar she peeked through a bit timidly hoping she wasn't interrupting anything important. "H...hello?" she says a bit quietly, "Oh!" her voices raises as Lyka wiggles her way out of Emelyn's grasp and into the room. Emelyn, scared for her dragons well being, shoved the door open all the way to catch her, only to bump into a stranger about to leave. A man with another dragon in his arms stands before her, only this dragon was red like fire. "E-excuse me!" She quickly apologizes bowing to him, hoping she didn't just hurt his dragon. She cursed herself mentally, usually she was much more observant than this. Worrying about Lyka was making her unfocused.

~You quiet! They need hear! They need see!~ Lyka's talons click against the floors as she runs across the room to one of the priestesses. Her tail wagging with excitement at the sight of new people. She does a lap around the shortest of the priestess and then quickly stops at the site of the other dragons interacting with each other. ~Brothers! Sisters!~ The dragon chirps as much as a yapping dog in it's excitement.

Emelyn looked nothing short of a stressed new mother.....a total mess.

Ryyker isn't too happy about Eli getting involved in his business.
"You should have stayed out of my business or picked the right side." Ryyker says as he steps near Eli and then out of no where throws a punch at Elis face. Ryyker dosnt care what his punch does he also grabs the hilt of his katana planning on slashing Elis face.
Orthrax isn't happy about Tyrale also getting involved. She jumps st Tyrale jaws going for his throat and gripping class going for his eyes.

~Me Mongrel?! YOU MONGREL!!!~ Kou let out what he thought was a ferocious roar, squirming with all his might against the surprising strength and control of his rider, his claws digging into her skin as he tried to get at the black that now made her way towards him in anger.

But before any contact was made, the Ruby stepped in, grabbing onto the Black's tail and yanking back with a surprising amount of strength. This caused the Black to snap at the Ruby. Kou's anger only surged higher by the fact that the Black would dare touch another of their kind simply because he pulled her tail. ~Let go! LET GO!~

"KOU!!" Suki shrieked, loud enough to silence the area for a brief moment, forcing her body to double over her tiny dragonette and push a wave of calm into his own mind. With that wave came a sensation of physical pain in his legs, and he gave a wimper, looking down to realize that he had bloodied his own rider in his attempts to defend her. Horror filled him at this realization, and he quickly scooted back from her arms, tucking himself against her belly and thighs as she looked through her crossed arms at him. "Kou, I'm sorry. That was me, wasn't it?"

~Kou sorry...did not mean...you hurt...~ The little dragonling gave a wimper again, nuzzling her for both a little comfort to himself, but also to give her his sincerest of apologies.

"It's okay. Come on. We should go. Let's go to our room together, okay?"

~Yes...Kou has food there...~ He sounded pitiful, like a puppy who had realized his wrongdoing and waited by the door to be put outside for the night. Despite the painful scratches, Suki stood and lifted him, nodding towards her brother. "Yes, let's go to my room and try to sort things out there for now. I think we have had enough tension."

She turned her gaze to the priestesses then, giving a small smile. "My apologies for the poor introduction. Good night, lady priestesses." They each bowed their heads approvingly, just as a tiny Peridot entered the room, bouncing with excitement, followed closely by a fair young maiden of blond curls. At this point, Suki realized that the dark haired man with the Red had disappeared.
But before she could think any more on the matter of the Red dragons, she heard the sound of a fist hitting flesh and a sword being drawn. Turning in horror, she watched as Eli was sent backwards by the punch thrown by Ryyker, who was now drawing the katana on his back. A sickening joy could be seen sparkling in his eyes as he looked at Eli with a disgusting hunger.

The moment Ryyker's hand touched the grip, however, a shockwave of power could be felt within the room, and all bodies were forced to a halt, dragon and rider alike. Illyria's voice sounded loudly, both within each mind and echoing in the stone room. "Violence threatens to consume our world. We do not need it in this sanctuary. Raise your weapon against your fellow rider, cause any harm outside of training, and you will be expunged!" As though bound by her promise, another wave of power rocketed through each of them as the last word was spoken. Then, they were released - at least all by Ryyker, who Xara still held fast to as she stepped towards him. Her face was dark, disturbed, a look that did not match the petite and almost childlike features.

Stepping very close to him, enough for her breath to send ice down his spine, she lifted her finger, touched the pommel of his katana, and whispered, "Darkness followed you, and now it will consume. For each time you touch this weapon with the intention to harm your fellow riders, your body will become a mere shadow, unable to touch another living thing."

Then, he was released, and each of the priestesses bid the riders a good night. Illyria smiled towards their newest addition. "Welcome, young Rider. We've been expecting you. Please, make yourself comfortable and have some food. I see you have met your new companion. Welcome, young Lyka."

[fieldbox="Tahvo & Fierro, red, solid"]

Tahvo raised an eyebrow when he saw yet another small dragonling barging into the dining room. It was the first dragon he saw here that wasn't accompanied by a human. He took his thought back though a couple of steps later when a person, surely the dragon's rider, bumped into him. He whispered a hurried 'It's okay', that had been meant to be louder but he had been taken aback by how hastily the person went away. A petite woman.

'Small, she is. Good rider, strong legs. She, bad rider.' Fierro criticized her, more annoyed than anything because he had just been bumped into, but it was true that the girl looked quite small.

Tahvo bit his lip. Just mere minutes ago he had heard a depraved man wanting to drag a woman to his bed. Back then it wasn't a problem. The girl looked capable, her brother too and seemed protective on top of it, and the man was only talking. But now he had gotten violent, and this girl had no one by her side, and looked very confused by all of this. He turned on his heel and hurried back to the table after the girl, just in case she needed assistance. He gasped when the man with the black dragon punched the good red head on the face. Reading his mind, Fierro instantly got a grip on his shirt, so he could let go and have his arms free, but before he could step into the fight, they were all stopped on their tracks.

He sighed in relief when the priestess took care of the violent man. Once he was free again, he walked over to the red head, and examined his face with a quick glance. 'You okay kiddo?' He doubted the red head was that much younger than him, but the childish attitude he had seen before led to him using that word without realizing. He went over to the table to retrieve some ice -that was meant for the beverages- and a napkin, wrapped the ice with the napkin, and went to hold it against the place where Eli had been punched. 'Hopefully this will make it not swell too badly.'

[fieldbox="Emelyn & Lyka, red, solid"] Lyka's deep green eyes, the color of emeralds, widened from the shock of witnessing two of her own kind becoming physical with each other. Cringing Lyka immediately backed away, knowing full well that she wouldn't survive if one of the others were to lash out at her. After all, she was the smallest dragon here and had to be careful. Turning away the sickly grey dragon with the lime green spots retreated to her rider. Emelyn would surely keep her safe.

Emelyn quickly sighed with relief as Lyka returned back to her. Quickly scooping the little creature into her arms, Emelyn glanced back noticing the man from before had followed her back inside. She made a mental note of the strangeness considering he had just been leaving, and to ask him about it later. Her attention suddenly shifted with the sound of a physical altercation that had broken out, but before it could escalate any further a surge of energy encompassed her making her freeze. She could feel a heavy weight on her, and for a moment her breathing became irregular from the stress. She refused to falter though, focusing on keeping her body up right despite the room spinning. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath and waited for the feeling to pass, and when it did she could feel herself breathing normally again.

~Too close. You fine. Good.~ Lyka nuzzled her riders neck gently as Emelyn rushed over to the red head side. The dragonette watched closely as Emelyn started to look around the room for something she could use to help the two injured in the room. The blue eyes finally fell on a pitcher of ice for beverages and made a step towards that direction knowing full well she could fashion the napkin and ice into an ice pack. However, before she could do so the man from before had already beaten her to the idea. Lyka could feel a strange feeling bubble up with in her rider, something she didn't quite know the name for. As the man held the ice pack to the man's face her rider sighed with relief.

"You beat me to it! I am quite impressed that someone else thought of this other than me...." Emelyn mentions to the stranger before glancing over to the priestess that had welcomed her. ~So that is feeling...~ Emelyn could hear her dragon's voice pushing into her mind after having spoke. The blonde woman looked down to her dragon and nodded feeling good at the idea of her dragon learning. Shifting her head, Emelyn's eyes fell on the priestess once again. She didn't want to appear rude, so she gave the woman a small smile and dipped her head apologetically and with thanks. Turning to the other injured rider in the room Emelyn spoke quietly "That looks like it hurt. Do you know how to treat wounds? I can help." she offers.

Wreaver had watched everything with a bored expression, only moving when everything was finished. He moved to where the other riders were and started making opinions of them all.

The idiot of the Black, Rykker, he was predictable, lashing out at the smallest provocations. And while he was stopped by the Priestesses, he would no doubt hold a grudge and take it out when they were to 'Train' whatever that meant, though he had his guesses.

Then there were the twins, Raijin and Suki, both had obviously never left their homes and experienced what life was, judging by Raijins stupid devout comments about Varon. They both looked capable but each would be simple to defeat, for if one was threatened, the other would throw themselves stupidly at the problem. At least that was what he felt.

Then there was peacemaker, who was almost as stupid as Rykker, he shouldn't have stepped between the two, especially when one of them was heavily armed. The boy was either too trusting of strangers or hadn't dealt with many people before.

Then there was Tahvo, he hadn't seen enough of him yet to be able to judge, along with the small girl who had juat entered.

He felt Drachma climbing up his legs and back to sit up on his shoulders, ~So what now?- Drachma asked Wreaver, who was just standing with his arms crossed before him, completely relaxed about the entire situation.

~You are going to go and grab as many ducks as you can and take then back to our room, I'm going to talk to these morons.~ Wreaver said, Drachma bounding off of him and onto the table, grabbing the pleasant pheasants and hastily retreating to their rooms, his head slightly tilted with the weight.

He stepped forward towards everyone, realising quickly that he was among the largest there. He quickly crouched down and looked and the red head with his blue eye, "That was stupid of you to step up to a man of Taval, I've heard of that idiot Rykker. He's feels he has more to prove because of the dark monk, Jiralaxe. He is a violent man with as much regard for life as I do, though for different reasons. Take this to heart Eli, you might have made a deadly enemy today."

With this, he got back to his feet and left the room, readjusting his headscarf to cover more of his face as he moved back to his room, movements as calculated and graceful as a predator as he went to the feast awaiting him.

Ryyker sheaths his katana thinking his options the priestess made one weapon useless against rider but not the other, he could also strike the women in front of him but ruled that out as a bad idea. Rykker feels a wetness spreading across his shirt and realises he was bleeding from the dragon that jumped on him earlier so be directs a question at the priestesses. "So you'll stop a rider from drawing another riders blood but you won't stop a dragon from drawing a riders blood? So if I had my dragon attack that whore you'd allow it?" Ryyker asked referring to Suki as a whore.

The argument continued as Tyr laughed, growing more and more into a fight. The tension rose and then, Tyr could hear this 'Rider of Black' punch the read headed young man and draw his blade. Tyr immediately stopped laughing, an expression of near-rage replacing his previous light-heartedness. He instinctively raised his hand and grabbed the handle of his axe, completely prepared and intending to draw blood for the disgrace that man had just committed. First, requesting to lie with a girl in the middle of a banquet, then punching a boy and drawing a weapon immediately afterwards?! But then there was a wave of power, compelling Tyr to stay in place, and he could not resist. One priestess, the most peaceful looking, appeared to place a curse upon the man, rendering his katana useless against other riders. Admittedly, this would've been a great opportunity to strike down the man, but Tyr could not longer bring himself to do so. Not here, not now. He lowered his hand and instead stood up. There were plenty of people tending to the young man, so that was taken care of. Tyr turned his head towards Ryyker. "Calling her a whore is just as good as calling yourself a whore seeker. An indecent man seeking only to be laid at all costs. One might even go so far as to take you for a bastard, illegitimate, the son of a whore. That would be distasteful, don't you agree?" Tyr said those words with little regard to Ryyker's pride, a cold glare across his face. Dishonor and be dishonored. He only hoped that his spite wouldn't get him cursed as well. "Good night, bastard..." Tyr turned and walked away, to the doorway before turning back to the priestesses. He bowed, a sign of respect. "Forgive me, that man is infuriating. I hope these occurrences will not happen again. If I may be excused..." Tyr then walked out of the doorway, giving no attention to the others or even this 'Rider of Black's' reply, Fafnir in tow. ~That was stupid. Still, deserved.~
~Exactly. We have no more buisiness with that man, and I pray we don't in the future.~

[fieldbox="Eli and Tyrale, goldenrod, dotted, 10, Book Antiqua"]
Eli had no idea just what exactly he was stepping into. Literally. He knew that there was something wrong with the man, even a blinded person could see that, but never did he think that the man could get so violent in such a public place. He had felt the tension, seen the urge in every body movement and within the man's eyes that he wanted to fight, yet he had still stepped into his line of sight. But Eli had not been considering his own well being. He was too focused on getting the man's eyes off the girl he had sought after, and to keep fists from flying between Rykker and the brother of the woman he was after, though the other gentleman seemed the exact opposite of Rykker and did not wish to fight. In all honesty he seemed more capable of handling the situation and did not need Eli to interfere, but the lad still felt as though he needed some sort of assistance to make sure Rykker didn't do anything stupid. But apparently the one doing the stupid act was Eli himself.

Everything had happened so fast. First Eli was aware of the brother speaking to the man with the black dragon, which Eli believed to be very admirable considering the way the man had been talking to his own sister, but was choosing to handle the situation far better than one might expect an enraged brother to behave. However when he had made the comment that seemed to address the majority in the room, Eli was a tad bit offended to a level of self respect, only because he did not wish for the two siblings to view them all the same way as the man behind him. He very much liked to consider himself respectable and would never be so offensive towards a woman as Rykker was clearly being, but the slight chip in his pride was quickly repaired when the man turned his attention once again and bowed his head in thanks. Eli felt a little better and was glad that he could be of some help, even if the other man did not need it, yet it felt wrong to Eli to be so close to a situation such as this and do nothing about it.

Then came his dragon brother. The one with the red dragon. Though both of their dragons shared red scales, when near each other, there were obvious differences. Even in the shadings of the scales. Eli's emerald gaze was focused on the man as he spoke, and at first, Eli was not quite sure how to take his words. The very meaning of them seemed genuine enough, but with the tone of voice he used and his expression....Eli got the strange sense that he had somehow been insulted. But he couldn't be quite sure. He didn't know if the man was warning him to be careful or if he basically said he should just shut up. Eli especially didn't get the expression with the dead fish. Why fish? There were no fish near here. Though he had an idea that that wasn't what the man meant. Still, whatever the case, though Eli was slightly bothered he tried not to take it personally till he knew for sure exactly what the man had meant to be getting at when he spoke to him.

But in that next instant everything when haywire. Eli's attention had been lost on the main cause of the whole thing, and because of that, his guard had been lowered. Only when Rykker spoke did Eli's attention return to him, but the man was already moving, and Eli was caught so off guard that he didn't have time to block the blow that was suddenly coming towards him. It was literally just a strong force knocking him hard in the face. He never saw the fist. His head had been turing towards the man with the black dragon, then it was turning the opposite way in a quick jerk as pain exploded in his left cheek, causing him to stumble back a few steps. He heard a sharp cry from Tyrale, who grew alarmed from the sudden harm that befell his Rider, which took his own attention away from the small black dragon. But because of the prior events, Tyrale was now on high alert, so when he caught movement his gaze went instantly to the black dragon and had moved his wings before him to block the creature. However everything suddenly froze.

Eli did not know what he would have done. Would instinct take over and would he have tried to fight the man? Or try to keep the peace even though he had been harmed? Eli was no coward, but he wasn't stupid either, and he did not wish to cause unnecessary violence. But it didn't matter. Perhaps no one would ever know what would have happened next, not even Eli, for none of them could move. During the whole transaction between Rykker and the Priestess, Eli had the time to cope with what just happened, slowly getting through the shock of it all. It also gave him a true reflection of just what this man Rykker was capable of, and would never be afraid to draw blood, so he would definitely have to be more careful. As realization and understanding dawned on him, he could feel the spell be lifted from him and he was once again able to move, straightening from where he had stumbled and moved his hand to where he had been punched.

He flinched. Well owe. The guy certainly knew not to hold back. He felt an instant weight on his back as something gently scraped against the skin, and looking over his shoulder he could see Tyrale peering at him, and he could feel the creature's great worry and concern. The poor thing cooed and began to nuzzle around his neck and over his hair, careful to not go anywhere near where his Rider had been struck. Eli could feel the little dragon's emotions all over the place as he fretted for his Rider's well being. Before Eli could say anything, however, Tahvo was suddenly there now. He had placed an ice pack upon Eli's cheek, causing him to flinch again but more in shock from the sudden cold than in pain, just barely stopping himself from stepping away. Well, he knew they were dragon brothers after all! He was rather a bit touched by the man's concern, but at the same time, he was greatly ashamed and embarrassed. Which only grew deeper when the man called him 'kiddo'. Looking at him, Eli could see that the other man could not be that much older than himself, yet considering the events prior... It was no wonder that some might consider him younger. Not that he had done anything to prove them otherwise, and what had just happened now only proved that fact.

"Thanks." Eli murmured, taking the icepack himself before stepping away. "I'm fine, really. It just surprised me is all." He was trying to blow it off, act like it was no big deal. Then suddenly he was staring into the face of a rather horrifying man that towered over him, and any doubts of feeling like a child were completely stomped on at the sight of this man and the way he spoke to him.

Eli watched the man walk away, and though he had not been outwardly cruel, Eli felt the lowest of the low. Because of what just happened, all attention had been sprung to him and the man with the black dragon, and Eli did not like attention. He was used to being in the background, overlooked, and this just proved one of the reasons why he preferred that. He acted like a complete fool. Now everyone would refer to him as 'that kid that got punched in the face,' or 'Oh you mean that kid with the swollen cheek?' He wanted to laugh right then and there at the ridiculousness of it. He wanted to hide in a hole till all of this was over. Here were the Priestesses, speaking of heroes, and yet here he was. Getting into trouble already and behaving like a buffoon.

A fresh sting of pain when through his shoulder, and when he looked after letting out a shout of surprise, there was Tyrale glaring up at him.

{Stop.} His dragon spoke. Rather firmly. {You did right. No fool. Who cares what others think?} There were other emotions that the dragon could not quite put into words yet, but slowly Eli began to understand, and through Tyrale he was able to stop the cloud of doubt and negativity. To find his resolve once again.

Eli did not regret what he did. Sure perhaps it had been stupid and he shouldn't have done so, but nevertheless, he would have done it again. If they are supposed to be a team anyway, shouldn't they be looking out for each other's backs? Like what he had done and what Tahvo was doing now? Even the newcomer, who Eli was just now realizing who had entered the place(much to his embarrassment since now the first thing she witnessed of him was getting beat up. Boy, he was just not making very good first impressions today.), she had showed her concern and had been willing to help a complete stranger. So despite what they probably thought of him, Eli did not regret stepping between the two men, and he would not stoop so low as to pick a fight with Rykker. Despite what that man with the hidden face had told him, he did not fully believe himself a fool, though he would take the man's words to heart and learn to be more cautious next time. He could not just easily assume that no one would attack him because of circumstances.

His attention was once more brought to Rykker when he spoke to the Priestess, and this time he felt slight anger towards the man at referring to the woman as a 'whore', when that wasn't true at all. Hurting him was one thing, but trying to taint another's pride through lies was another. But thankfully someone else came to the rescue and provided a comeback much more deserving of Rykker of the Black. Eli did not wish to cause further problems, and so it had most likely for the best that another had spoken, and the man had excused himself. Eli straightened himself up, refusing to show the slightest pain he might have felt to his cheek, and even lowered it as he looked to the other man. His gaze was hard, but he made no indication of furthering the fight, and when he spoke his voice was calm and collected. As if he hadn't just been punched in the face.

"I think I chose the right side." Was all he said to the man. What else needed to be said had already been done so by the others. At that moment, Eli felt like going to his room more than anything else, but he also felt that that was another stab at his pride, behaving like a pup to go hide and lick his wounds. He did not want this man's aggression to ruin his attitude or anyone else's good time, though it seemed to already be far too late for that considering two people had already left and Tahvo had already been leaving before and still might chose to leave again. Plus he was sure that the siblings would more than likely leave as well.

Still, it was probably for the best, and Eli was sure that he wasn't needed to make sure that Rykker didn't bother the new comer or cause any more of a ruckus. He turned towards the siblings and bowed his head. "I greatly apologize for such a rude display, and I assure you that not all men behave in such a way, just as your brother had obviously proved that. I never meant to cause such a scene." Then he turned towards Tahvo. "Thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate it, and I hope we can all get to know each other properly at another time since things have...not gone as planned." After all, he still didn't know half of their names. The only ones he knew of were Rykker, Wreaver, and Tahvo. Then he bowed to the Priestesses. "Thank you for your time and the meal."

He then excused himself, before turning and walking towards the exit, keeping an even pace and keeping the icepack off his face. Saving whatever dignity he had left. Tyrale, however, had jumped off his back and went half running half gliding back towards the dining table, and after grabbing a huge turkey leg, he went back after his Rider. Lifting his head high to do his best to keep from dragging it on the ground. He knew that his Rider had not eaten yet at all and would be hungry later. He said a goodbye to Fierro, the newest comer Lyka, and then the sibling's dragons as he passed and was soon reunited with his Rider before the two walked out of the Dining Hall.
