LIBERTINE/LIBERTEEN IS BEING CHANGED TO REDSTAR/BL

Obviously far too soon.

YOU GOTTA WAIT AT LEAST A DECADE, DIANA. BOO.

The thing that confuses me, is that libertine and liberteen seemed perfectly clear while being relatively classy, and this just seems like a case of fixing what isn't broken, the change doesn't bother me, but it does perplex me(as to why the change is necessary)

If the change wasn't necessary but was just a personal opinion/flavor sort of thing, that makes perfect sense then

We have a lot of new members who don't quite understand the terms and clearer titles make everything better. Plus, the main motivation of the change was because of "libertine" seemingly taking on a bad notation across the net. Diana felt it no longer suited our needs and staff members were allowed to pitch up new name ideas :)

So are these both adult (aka Porn) Roleplay categories? Or is BLUE pretty much the underage stuff, while the RED is straight up Porn with plot? Or Plot with Porn. XD LOL

Not necessarily, the thing with libertine is that while yes it's mainly used for smut, it also was there to deal with allowing things like extreme violence/gore, and language or dark adult situations

It is mostly just used for smut though...

No, libertine and teen are for smut because of our age restrictions. Gore and such are allowed in the normal section.

Well I'll be buggered

Alright then, what should I do? As I do Plot with Porn plots. I don't want be banned from this site, so where do I go and post my adult with plot listings now? I guess is my main question lol XD

Anything with sexual content as a major theme or common occurrence belongs in the smut areas, which for you would mean the Redstar area.

And since you asked about them in a previous post, the two areas are for the same uses as Libertine and Liberteen were: Redstar (formerly Libertine) is for adult members to do roleplays with sexual content, Bluestar (formerly Liberteen) is for teen members to do roleplays with sexual content. It's nothing to do with the age of characters or percentage of plot to smut, just writer ages.

If anything this makes it more confusing for people.

If a person comes in and sees "Red Star" and "Blue Star" it won't do them any good because those mean nothing without context

Libertine and Liberteen however, you know exactly what that is without context.

Is that so? I think it makes it less confusing for people who are new to this community, especially those who aren't familiar with the meaning of 'libertine' as a word. I have heard that some people did not even know the meaning of such a word until they came to Iwaku, from where they then had to look it up to understand. The Red Star and Blue Star age groups would make it quite obvious to those looking for sexual roleplays that sexual content is age-separated. It's clean and simple, and it has been something that we have assuredly debated and discussed quite a bit in staff. We did not just decide to change this name on a whim or for no good reason.

In addition, we made this because we have seen how the connotations and meaning of libertine has changed over the years to come to more negative terms. I remember reading that @Diana wanted to name the sexual roleplays forums as libertine because it used to be more closely linked to 'sexual freedom and liberation', but now the word is more known as this:

characterized by a disregard of morality, especially in sexual matters.
"his more libertine impulses"
That is not the meaning we want for our forums. ^^; I hope this makes it clearer for everyone!

To add to what Hana said, keep in mind that they're named Redstar/Bluestar Bedroom, not just the first word. Libertine is an uncommon word that many have to look up, but the vast majority of English speakers should know what a bedroom is and can thus likely understand the implications. I doubt this will cause as much confusion to newcomers as the old names did.

Next can we have a PSA about how people should specify which Red/Blue Star Bedroom they want their roleplays moved to when they request moderation? People don't seem to realize there's four of them - two for group and two for prps >:(

I'm just sad that it isn't a pun anymore.

That would require nuance and research on my part.

So absolutely not.
