Lewi & Elflady

Kieara watched it and purred. "It's neat." She said after she calmed down from her previous fright. She went back to the couch. She went the rest of the eevening with him, then the next day, she woke up waiting to go with him to Avalon.

Spending the rest of his freetime with Kieara until it was time to go to work, he only worked half time so he spent a few hours at the bookstore before heading back home and prepared some dinner and ate it in the living room in front of the TV, going to bed early, having a lot to think over and he also wanted to strt early the next day. Waking before his alarm clock even Dylan put on some coffee before taking a quick shower, dressed and headed to eat some breakfast while waiting for Kieara.

Kieara woke not long after him a natural early riser. She smiled as she came in there and saw him. she purred. "Ready to go?" She was eager to show him her hometown, to do it though, she'd have to take him back to where she'd came from the night before. the forest. That was the magical center for this area.

"Sure," Dylan said as Kieara came into the kitchen, purring softly. "But aren't you hungry?" He asked, he himself couldn't quite concentrate on anything during the day unless he had eaten breakfast, or at least something in the morning. Finishing the last of his toast Dylan took the plate and mug to the sink, quickly washing them, normally he didn't like doing the dishes but it would be a lot more annoying if the dishes stacked up so he tried to wash them regularly but it was quite clear from his relativly clean but messy apartment that he was no Martha Stuart. "Is the way to Avalon fixed in one place? Or does it move depending on where you are?" He asked, wondering if they would have to go through the forest to the place he found her. In that case he hoped she knew the way as he himself had been running around in the dark hoping to get lucky and find the way. Grabbing keys and phone Dylan pulled on his shoes, another pair that was not still damp, and in the last moment took a jacket as well, who knew what the weather or climate was on the other side.

"Yes it does actually, And I will eat later. Sometimes my magic is stronger before i eat." she said. It's like it was amplified through her body without any other substances in it. She was excited. "Though first let me do this..." She said and let her hands glow purple. She ran her hands over her hair and ears then over her tail. As she moved her hands her body changed. Masked itself. Her hair changed to a brunette shade, her ears disappeared and her tail did too.

Before his eyes Dylan saw Kieara change before him, her snow white hair turning brown and even her tail and ears vanished leaving her looking just like a human. This would surely make it easier to get back to the forest without anyone noticing, the sun that fell in through the windows showed that it indeed would be more people out and about than during the stormy night when Kieara had first arrived. "That's amazing Kieara," he said as he stepped out the door, waiting for her to follow before locking the door behind them. "Can you find the portal once we are in the forest again?" He asked while heading down to the first floor and out onto the busy street.

She nodded. "I can sense it." she said. she walked with him til they got to the forest, then she began to sense the magic epicenter emenating from there. She led him inside through twists and turns, over branches, under rock overhangs, and finally they came to a spot with three dead trees in a clearing in the center of the vibrant forest. The trees made a triangle. She bit her thumb motioning for him to stand back and drew blood then drew a rune on each tree and a matching one on the ground. She then spoke a few odd sounding words and a static sound began to grow louder and louder. Her mask disappeared as she used her magic, and a bright swirling vortex of pastel color appeared between the branches of the dead trees. She smiled. "Rule 1. NEVER and I mean EVER open your eyes going through the portal, not til I tell you to. If you do, you'll be stuck in it for all eternity. While you pass through you may see some horrible things, it's the magic coursing through you, but you can't open your eyes no matter what ok?"

Dylan was at the moment very glad it was daytime, he didn't want to think how hard this would be at night and honestly how he had managed this earlier in a storm was astounding really as he hardly was an athlete. Kieara on the other hand seemed to have no real problems with the uneven terrain. When they finally reached a small glade with three dead trees that grew in an eeriely even, triangle pattern, like they were ment to stand there, Kieara drew blood and started painting those weird runes on the trees and then the ground as well.

With a few words in an unfamiliar language the air sparked and hizzed like electricity flew across the glade and as a bright vortex appeared in front of him Dylan, eyes fixed on the swirling portal barely noticed how Kieara's disguise fell away. It seemed to draw him in even as he stood a bit away, the swirling motion gave the feeling of sucking him in with a tug in his stomach although he didn't move an inch and his head was spinning in tune with the portal. As Kieara spoke sternly Dylan snapped out of his thoughts turning his hazel eyes to her focusing back on the reality around him.

"I won't," he assured her. "Promise." Fear and a slight curiosity settled in his stomach almost making him nauseus as he followed her through, his eyes tightly closed.

Kieara saw the usual visions when passing through portals. Her curse killing her having never been lifted, her family finding her that she had yet to meet and calling her a disgrace the council catching her. The usual. But a new one adorned her mind. Something happening to her newfound human friend. That nearly made her open her eyes. But she refused to. She held his hand as she took him through, and they reappeared in a forest. She spoke. "You can open your eyes now." She growled a little in annoyance. She had made them appear further from town than she would've liked because of her inexperience with portals.

around them was a dead forest. Or seemingly dead. No leaves were on the trees, or the forest floor, but these trees stretched to amazing heights in the navy sky. It was late evening here, and three moons could be seen in an arch to the left of the sky. Each one in the sequence was larger than the last. Behold Avalon. Kieara went to speak again. "Watch what you say, or-" She was cut off by a voice to her left.

"Hey guys! Look! Kiki is back!" A few more murmurs sounded all around them and an annoyed nooise came forth from Kieara. There were creaks, moans, and groans as the trees came to life and twisted, rough looking faces appeared on the outsides of the trunks made from bark. Their branches moved like arms. Another spoke. "Well well where has the kitten been?"

If not for Kieara he was sure he would have opened his eyes in pure shock, fear and curiosity but now he resisted the urge to look around him. The visions she had spoken of was not an exaggeration either. Dylan saw his family, his real family, parents he had never known, they stood as shadows mocking him and saying how glad they were that they gave him away, then his adoptive family flashed before him. His parents and sister dying before him while he could do nothing, jerking forward to reach them and only Kieara's grasp on his hand stopped him and made him remember this was only a vision. As the weird feeling of moving through worlds started to subside and Dylan's visions were finally giving up but not before adding Kieara to the mix, her demise as her enemies found her but then when all the pain before him was getting to be too much and he just wanted to open his eyes to make sure it wasn't real and that it really was Kieara holding his hand a voice spoke.

Dylan slowly opened his eyes, his knees felt weak as after a sprint and his visions flashed inside his brain, there to stay. Adjusting to the late evening light as he looked around the dead forest in, raising his eyes to the sky his jaw dropped for a moment at the three moons. How was that possible? How could three moons really exist together? Snapping his head around as the voices spoke up Dylan struggled to see who spoke without luck, irritably he shook back ashe blonde hair from his face and scanned the trees.

Then he saw it. The treed where moving, their trunks gained faces"What the..." He said, eyes widening as he took a step backwards before realising it was not the best move as the trees moved all around him. "Kieara the trees... am I dreaming or are they alive?"

"Welcome to the enchanted forest." She said. "The trees have eyes....literally." she said. The trees laughed and she spoke. "Which way to the Obsidian City?" The tree that had called her Kiki spoke. "That way." And pointed a branch. "Thanks we-" she was cut off. "no no, this way!" Another said pointing the other direction. "Or is it these!" Another chimed pointing two other directions. "No, these!" One crossed two branches and pointed opposite directions, then the forest erupted in laughter as Kieara's ears pinned. "Okay, i'll find out myself." She began to back up and the tree in front of her looked scared. "W...What are you doing?" She smirked and held her hands out feline claws appearing. "N-no KIEARA!" It screeched as she took a running go and scaled the tree to the top and looked. "That way!" She said and pointed to the left. It got ticked and began to shake its branches sending her flying. She hit the ground with a hard thud.

Still trying to comprehend living trees, although he had to admit all trees lived but these actually lived and moved and had faces, Dylan had trouble to stop staring at them an their weird antics. The trees were either crazy or just annoyingly devous in his oppinion, as their so called help was clearly pointless. But it soon showed fear, giving Dylan a small bit of satisfaction, as Kieara scaled one of the trees and quickly found the right direction, and he wondered what kind of place the city was, named after a black gem, or perhaps the city had no connection to the gem, did they even have the same metalls and gems her as on earth? Suddenly the tree started shaking it's branches and soon Kieara fell hard to the ground, as laughter spread like a wind among the trees Dylan rushed over to the girl with a frown. "Are you okay?"

Kieara was out for a minute or two, then she finally came to to see his blurred face. "Hello....." She said groggily and sat up her head clearing. "Why you.....YOU DAMN PEICE OF FIRE WOOD!" She said and scratched the trees trunk up while it screamed. "Now which fucking way to the damn city!" She said pissed off. It pointed. "That way, THAT WAY!" "If I find out that's the wrong way...." "It's not I swear...." "Good." She then went over to Dylan and grinned. "Let's go." she said cheerily. She took his hand and began to lead him away.

First he got no answer and despite his tries she didn't stir as he shook her, for a moment fear gripped him both for her safety and him being stuck in another world but then she started to wake, seeing her bolt upright and lash out at the tree Dylan decided she was just fine despite having lost conciousness for a while. On another other positive note her anger worked well as the tree hurridly gave the correct directions, or at least it was probably the right way seeing as the tree apaprently didn't want to get its bark ripped off. "Is it always this hard to get directions here?" he asked as Kieara pulled him along. "With my sense of direction I would need a GPS if every creature tried that on me." At least if not some other more violent creature came along and killed him that is and he would have slim chances of holding his own considering Dylan had spent pretty much all his time painting or studying except those years in high school when he'd been forced to join a club and had done archery for three years, but he doubted what, if any, skills he still remembered would save him.

"They're annoying yes, but ultimately harmless. The trees just get bored and lonely being in the same place with no one around and when they get visitors they don't know how to act." She said. Soon they came upon a large city, and it was easy to see why it was called the obsidian City. A large, onyx tower stood menacingly in the center, and around it coming outwards were all sorts of buildings of all sorts of shapes, sizes, colors, some not known to man, some buildings were suspended in air, some tied down with ropes, some glowed, others were made of things like clouds or squishy substances. Some were shaped like the things they sold. For instance, the potion shop was bottle shaped.

Dylan stared up at the city as they entered, the large onyx tower in the middle towered high above the streets, something about it just gave him chills although he couldn't exactly say why it did but he soon forgot all about the black tower as he stared in awe and confusion at the city. Looing around him wide eyed and if he'd been less collected his jaw would have hung open at some sights, the houses came in all shapes and sizes, heck some didn't even seem to be built or decorated by things that existed on Earth even, a few houses even floated in the air only anchored to the ground by ropes. He saw a large bottle and soon realised it was a shop shaped like a bottle and a bit down the street stood a shop built up by several wooden books. "It's amazing Kieara," he said when he could stop staring in wonder for a bit. "Nothing like this exist on Earth, except in some fairy tales."

She smiled at him but was silent. They passed all walks of life. Ogres, witches, wizards, vampires, and werewolves. Pixies, elves, you name it and it was there. Though here and there there were what appeared to be slaves working in raggedy clothes much like Kieara's. They were a half breed some where or another in their bloodline.

All the creatures that walked past and mingled together on the streets were an amazing sight, not to mention the fact that creatures like this really shouldn't exist although he'd have a hard time denying this as real, especially the trip here. As Dylan started to get used to the sights of Obsidian City, still seeing every new thing but not caught on every little bright person or building he started to notice a darker side. People working in the strees and largely ignored by the rest of the people, they were dressed in ragged clothes and Kieara's talk about slaves hit him again. Were these slaves then? It was frustrating to see people being owned when they in Dylan's eyes had every right to be free. "Are those slaves?" He asked Kieara turning his hazel eyes from the streets to her.

Kieara looked to him and frowned. "yeah..." she said. "If anyone asks, i'm your slave." Shes aid.

Dylan frowned back at her, even if it was a rouse to help Kieara out of trouble if needed he didn't like it, he was not the type to order people around or behave like he was better than others. "Why is it so important to have slaves? Can't people do their own work here or at least pay others to do what they don't want to do?" Dylan asked, looking around and noticed that many of the slaves seemed to share traits with different races and no one else he'd seen had looked like that. "Are these people mixed like you Kieara, all of them?"
